2. Audience
Pc gamer is known throughout the
gaming community as the best
source of information about newly
published games. It also gives out
useful information about what parts
are needed when building a pc. From
the looking at the audience, I have
found out that the majority of the
readers are male and between the
ages of 14-36. This tells me the target
audience are young males. Looking at
the ratings I have found that people
enjoy reading the magazine and is
largely popular. They also write
articles about games as well on their
website where they have a large fan
base. The articles range from building
a pc and best games from 2017.
3. Research
Front page
The magazine uses the colour red to draw the audience in.
The typology in the magazine is bold and large to get the
attention of the customers. The image of the game shows a
clear and well detailed visual of fallout 4. They have done this
to get the customers attention. The writing style of the
magazine tells me they are trying to excite the customer by
talking about how it’s the best “rpg of the decade”. Another
colour scheme I've seen is black, from this I can understand
that its symbolic for tragedy and gloomy. From looking at the
layout I can see that its clear and understandable, therefore
its easy to read and follow.
4. Research
Double page spread
The magazine gives of an empty atmosphere, for example it feels plain and alone. This is a
reference to the fallout New Vegas game in the background. The game is well know for its lonely
wasteland, this intern will make the customer wanting to know more. I colours are similar
throughout the dps which make the gaming magazine more complete. Another colour that’s used
in the magazine is green, this is symbolic for the army/military. The font is simple yet
understandable to follow when reading the gaming magazine, as it catches your eye. The imagery
of the double page spread shows the audience a waste land with a robot, this creates
atmosphere and uniqueness for the customer.

The colour scheme is red, this is symbolic for
dangerous and angry. Therefore the colour
red will grab the attention of the customer.
Another colour I've found is grey which is
symbolic for mystery. The article also has bold
font to get the customers attention, therefore
it can be seen far away. The imagery of the
games shows the audience the awesome
games that will be coming out soon. They
way the article is laid out is understandable
and easy to follow. The writing style is easy to
understand and makes you want to keep on
reading. PC Gamer is a magazine founded in
the United Kingdom in 1993 devoted to PC

respective countries. The magazine features
news on developments in the video game
industry, previews of new games, and reviews
of the latest popular PC games, along with
other features relating to hardware, mods,
"classic" games and various other topics.
6. Empire’s Audience
From looking at the empire audience I have found that they are slightly more males than
females and the audience are a young age. I also found out that they are left sided in terms
of politics. The ratings for the movie magazine are overall positive and are giving them a
thumbs up. They are also selling a large quantity of magazines across the world, this tells
me that the magazine is interesting to read. From looking a these statics I now understand
their target market for their gaming magazine.
7. Research
Front Page
The magazine has portrayed the front as bold and
attention grabbing, for example the magazine has
the colour red to draw the customer in and uses a
quirky font to be similar to the jokers personality.
The imagery of the magazine points to joker, they
have done this by highlighting him with a spot
light. The effect of using this is to get the
customers attention when there walking by. The
magazine has a wonderful layout as it has the
necessary parts for example it has a barcode,
headline, blobs and stars. This tells the audience
right away it’s a magazine about films straight
away. The writing style copies the jokers
personality, therefore it will feel as if the joker is
talking to you.
8. Research
double page spread
The colour scheme of the double page
spread has blue. This is symbolic for
peace, harmony and justice as it’s the
same colour as the police uniform. The
effect of this makes me want to read
more about this film. The font they have
used is bold and large from a distance.
The effect of using this draws the
customers attention to the magazine.
The layout of the magazine is very easy
to understand and follow. The writing
style of the gaming magazine is unique
and makes you want to carry on reading
to learn more about the characters in the
film. The magazine has a headline, blobs

10. Audience
From looking at the
audience they seem to
have quite a few negative
results and are selling less
each month. From this I
can determine that the car
magazine is starting to get
boring and uninteresting. I
can see that their readers
are middle aged males
who are right sided in
terms of politics. From
looking a these statics I
now understand their
target market for their car
magazine.

Double Page Spread
The car magazine has a
simple layout as the images
and text line up. The reason
they have done this is to
help the customer with
information. This will make
the magazine nice and tidy
as well as giving it a nice
flow when reading. The
imagery of the car grabs the

14. Summary
Overall by doing research on the magazines I have found out that they have
similar layouts to other magazines, therefore I will try to copy this style to
make my magazine more remunerable as I want my magazine to stand out
from the rest. The fonts of the magazines stand out and use bright colours to
draw the customer attention. The imagery is also eye catching as its large and
bold. The writing styles make you want to carry on reading as you want to
know more about the information.

Front page Experiments
The processes I went through in changing my experiments are that I got rid off the unnecessary logos that can be
seen on the magazine to the left. I then got rid off the age certificate as its not important for the front cover. As for
the font I made it larger and installed a new font to make it stand out more as I wanted to draw the customers
attention to my magazine. I then went around the soldiers head with the magic wand tool and copied it to another
layer. Once I've done this I dragged it over the “gamer geek” text. I then changed the font and colour of the review
text, I then placed it underneath the “battlefield 4” logo. As for the barcode I made it smaller as it was filling up the
page and then added in a bottom banner to give out rewards and prizes. I did this so I can persuade the customer in
buying the magazine.
17. Double page spread
experiments
The processes I went through are deciding the images I want to add to my double page spread, I then
decided the layout of the magazine, where I decided to have the images next to text. The images where
from the internet from newly made games that have come out. I then placed it into the magazine. I then
needed some text for my magazine, I did this by going on a website called lip sum where it gives you a bunch
of text to make your magazine look fuller with information. It also gives you an idea of what the magazine is
going to look like when you finish the final product.
18. Wix
The process I went through was getting an image from a website called “pc gamer” where I gathered
information on how to write an article and how to layer it out. I then made the title where I named it
“Gamer Geek”. After I have done this I made some articles below describing the different games that were
being published through out the year. I then decided to go with the colour green as it stands out to the
audience and makes you want to carry on reading. I then chose to use a larger font to gather the attention of
the reader. I then chose different types of fonts to make it stand from the rest of the other website articles.
