Dance Music Video Targets Festival Crowds
1. • Dance genre music video – by Grace Pountney
This is Olivia, she is an example of the target audience for my music video. Olivia is 18 and is
studying her A levels at sixth form. She loves dance/ house music and often goes to festivals
that stick to this genre. For example the ones she has lined up for this year are, We Are
festival,SW4 and Cream fields.
When she was asked why she likes the genre she replied
“its just music, there are no references to drugs, violence, racial or gender separation. Its just
the music that people can enjoy in a good atmosphere”
My music video will be a new release by a dance artist Grace Pountney as part of her debut.
Psychographic: the typical target audience would
be people who go to popular concerts with large
groups of friends and love the dance genre
Gender: both male and female apply to my target
audience as the genre of music and the
age/social classes defined by the brief is not
gender specific although largely dominated by
male DJ’s
Social class: the 2 classes I aim to target would be
upper, more wealthy class of people in the A/B
class.
Interests: main interests would be socialising with friends at
festivals, parties or going out in general. They would also use
social media a lot due to their age meaning they would also
follow a lot of house or dance DJs to keep updated. Other
interests may include sport and music.
Geodemographic: the would live in either busy and built up
settings such as Kensington or more rural locations like Hutton or
Chelsea, with affluent surroundings.
Age: age range between 16-25 years old as they will be familiar
with new and popular music video style and new music within
the dance genre.
