2. Gender
The Gender target audience is going to be both male and
female’s. This is because the dance genre is huge and there as
so many different types, with each type of dance music there
is support from both men and women. Therefore, if you make
the target audience for both genders you would gain the most
support rather than just aiming the video at one gender and
only getting half the support. The music industry has an equal
split between men and women and the dance genre music
especially with the age target group of 16-25years old;
especially house and hip hop music is very popular with this
age bracket and with men and women. To increase as much
support as possible I will try to include both male and females
in my music video. Therefore, both men and women will be
able to relate to the music video and enjoy the music.
The age range for the music video is from age 16-25
years old. This age range is very youthful and I will have
to make sure to tailor the video to keep this age range
interested in the video. I could do this by using this age
group as characters who would feature in the music
video so the people watching will be able to relate to
the video and to the characters in the video. Another
factor into keeping the target audience interested is
that I could use a current song with a popular artist as
the younger people who like the genre of dance music
that I am picking. Also, I could make the music video
have aspects of narrative that 16-25year olds would do
in their own time so again they could relate to. If
someone can relate to a music video they are more
likely to listen to it regularly.
Age
The two social class groups I would like my music video to fit into is A
and B. These groups are Upper class and Middle class, I would also
keep the video sophisticated. This means that when I am creating my
music video I will have to keep the target audience into
consideration as that is who I am aiming the video at. Therefore, it
has to be suitable with the interests the AB social class groups as well
as still be sophisticated. This means that the kind of ideas I have will
have to create the music video are going to be very specific to the
target audience. An example is that if I wanted to shoot the video in
a night club to a dance house song, it would be suitable for the age
target audience however, this idea would not fit in with the social
class target audience or the sophisticated view of the video.
Social Class
3. Interests
The Interests of my target audience would be activities such as
visiting different locations on a day out, going out to restaurants
and going out of a night. Firstly, when I say going out to different
locations on a day out I mean visiting "not touristy“ places. This
is because linking to their social class of AB they could easily go
to somewhere like Buckingham Palace but they would rather go
to somewhere like Gir Lion Lodge at London Zoo, which is much
more adventurous. Next, the idea of going out to a restaurant, of
an evening many Upper and Middle class people like to go out for
dinner in a restaurant, this could be either with their family or
they could be out socialising with their friends. This is very
common for people aged 16-25 whether you are a man or women
a lot of people this age like to go out to socialise with their
friends by going out for dinner. Again, many people of this age
bracket like to go out of an evening, this could be going to a
friends house to socialise with them or even go for a night out in
a nice restaurant and have a few drinks at the bar. This is the
type of interests my target audience would have.
The people in my target audience for the music
video would live in a built up area or in a more
rural setting with large houses. This is because the
target audience for my music video has to be
Sophisticated and AB social class. Therefore, upper
class people tend to have more money than others
so they would be able to afford the bigger houses
in the luxurious settings. Some of the places that
the target audience might like is Kensington,
Holland Park or more rural areas like countryside in
Cambridge or Cornwall.
Geodemographic
People in my target audience would typically like to go out for a fancy dinner in their
favourite restaurant with their family or friends as they would be 16-25 years old.
Again, as they would only be 16-25years old some of the people would still be in
education whether it is Sixth form, or University so they would be studying as they
would have exams coming. Also, the majority of upper class families are family
orientated and love to spend time with their families but they would also go out and
meet new people and socialising.
