3. Research
• The strengths of the research is that I get to find out different types of
existing game ideas that are similar to the game I hope to make. It can also
help me get more ideas that will help me make my own game. From this I
could select different aspects from different games into my own.
• A weaknesses of research is that you cant find specific games or sounds
that I want to find to help with my game. I could of found better sounds or
added sound effects. This could of helped make the game more
professional like if I added in sound effects It could sound and look like a
proper game from a professional. This would help to make the game a
more immersive experience.
4. Planning
• A strength of my planning is that I can plan out how the game is going to
look like before making the final product. Another strength of my planning
is that I can test out where things go and how big things should be like text
or the character. I am good at mind maps and can detail it really well.
• I am thorough in my research and style sheets.
• My planned helped my product to turn out how I wanted it to be.
• A weaknesses of planning is that I didn’t know where to start the
planning, such as the background, the clouds, character, the tokens, the
game logo. I could of chosen the easiest bit to start of planning then
worked up from there and this could of helped my plan the project better.
The background is a good place to start to make everything sized properly
so that it all fits.
5. Time Management
• I managed my time well to get all my work done on time. I got the work
done in college time and sent them to the tutor. If I had more time I could
of added more detail to the game and the app logo to make them look
more professional. I could of added detail to the graphics for example
more shades of grass to make it look more realistic. I would make the logo
more 3D to make it stand out. I could have had a character select screen
like a home screen or start screen. I could also have added a score system.
6. Technical Qualities
Similarities: Sky background, extra lives in top left
corner, flying characters, ground, primary colours.
Differences: Buildings, no clouds, second character, no
collectibles.
7. Aesthetic QualitiesExtra lives: I made them look 3D
by adding a white spot of light.
This makes them more interesting
to look at. To improve, I could
have made the extra lives a bit
bigger.
Clouds: I made these look less
plain and more interesting by
trying different shapes, adding
a bit of grey to make it look
less flat and boring. To improve
I could add another shade of
off white so there are three
colours.
Character: I spent a lot of time
adjusting the position of his
hands, size of his head to make
it smaller, shape of the cape to
make it more flowing. I also
changed his positioning to
make him look more like he is
flying. I added shading to make
it stand out.
To improve I could have tested
out making the cape flutter to
make it look more like he is
flying.
Tokens: I am happy with the way
the tokens have turned out. They
stand out, you know what they
are and they have a good shape.
I spent quite a lot of time getting
the shape just right. I used the
same shade as on superman by
using the colour picker.
Grass: turned out well, good shade,
you know what it is and it looks good.
To improve: I could have been the grass
a bit thicker and added another shade
of green.
Background: I looked at
different gradient
backgrounds instead of a
single flat colour, to make it
look more realistic and like
the sky. I tried different
colours to see which one I
preferred and liked better.
8. Audience Appeal
I have made my game appeal to my audience by making it appeal to the age range which is 8-15 years
old. I did this by including the assets that are suitable to that age range and making the colour scheme
suitable to the age range and the male aspect of the audience
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked it because it was detailed like the clouds
and the character are detailed.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– I would improvement it by it not being glitchy, and
make it smooth animation. By doing this you could
add shorter frames and adjust the timings on it.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– The graphics make the game look like a
professional game
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Make the game longer by adding different levels
and have other character’s like enemies in the
game.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the design of the game
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Could of added the Sound effect to make it like a
professional game
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– I agree that I need to add sound effects to the
game and that I need to add different levels to
make the game longer.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I disagree that I need to add enemies in to my
game because I don’t think they would suite my
type of game.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
– I could add more frames to make it run smother
which with doing so will make the game look less
glitchy. Also could adjust the timescale on the
frames to make it smother
– I could look up sound effects or make my own on
different software like garage band and add it to
the game to make it more interesting to the target
audience.
