3. Research
• The strengths of my research was that I found a few different things that would help me make my own
game and I also found some posters and it helped me a lot because of the colour schemes and the way
they made them to finish my final game and it also helped a lot because I knew what I was going to base
my game on so I could put my own work into it.
• I also found some gameplay of platform games like Mario, and Sonic I choose these games because it
was the same kind of age range I was going for and it was also the style I was going for this helped me
because I could look at the colour schemes during the game and it also helped me find out how the
games worked so I could make sure that I was making the right kind of game and not something
different.
• The weakness of my research was that I didn’t find everything to help me finish my game because I
couldn’t really find a logo to help me, but I made it a bit like my poster, so it look alright because I had an
idea on what my poster was going to look like.
• The things that I could have done better in my research would be to find some more game style and look
at some logos so I could have a better Idea on what other games use for logos and maybe some more
posters. The effects more posters and logos would have been that it might have made my final product
better because I would have had more idea on what to put in my final game.
4. Planning
• The strengths of my planning is that I think that I did a lot of planning for my final game because I had already looked a lot of
backgrounds so I would know what I would want my background to look like and I also did a lot of looking at posters as well to
see what other gaming companies do and looked at how I should make my poster based on what they did. This helped me
because then I could see what other people have done and I could also make sure that I was making the poster right because I
had done my research. The game that I looked at to help me with my final game was Mario and I could see that the background
that they used were bright and blue with some other things in the background like trees and bushes.
• Another strength of my planning is the style sheet I made the style sheet to see what colours I might have used in my final game
and its got dark blue, light blue, green and grey and I also have some different style of text like press start regular, play me
games and bulky pixels this helped me because I could have choose one from them because I thought that they all looked good
to use in my work.
• My planning helped me in my final project because I knew what I was going to make so I wouldn't be stuck on what to do next
or include.
• Another strength is that I made some layout plans so I would know where to put some things and I could test them out an
example of this is I put a background that would be similar to mine and put it onto a slide and then put everything where I
wanted it to be and it really helped me. I got inspiration from Every Mario game from the backgrounds to the platforms that are
used in the game.
• The weakness of my planning what that I didn’t plan everything because I forgot that I was going to make a logo for my game so
that was a weakness, the things that I could have done better are that I could have planned for my logo, the effect that would
have had on my work is made it better. Next time If I make another game I will make a to do list so I wont forget anything that I
was going to make.
5. Time Management
• I think that I managed my time well because I did everything on time and before the deadline so
I had plenty of time to do some last-minute checks on my work to make sure that it was the best
that I could have made it.
• If I had more time to produce my work, I would have made more of the things move in my
background like the trees and maybe add a little bit more things that would have moved.
• Another thing that I would have done if I had more time, I would have played a Mario or Sonic
games to see what the animation is like and to listen to background music and the sound effects
that they used, and this could have helped me with my final game.
• Although I did forget to first design my logo I went straight in and made it because I felt that it
would be easier than just making it then designing it first, because I had experience with working
with pixels because of other projects I felt confident in making the logo with
pixels without needing to design it first.
• The software that I had used are photoshop and premiere pro if I didn’t really know how to use
it, it would have taken me a lot longer. The tools that I had used are the pencil tool and the
timeline tool I used this one to make a little animation of my game this decreased my time
because I already knew how to use photoshop and premiere pro, so it didn’t add anymore time
to my FMP.
• I followed my schedule most of the time and made all of the things that I had put in my schedule
and followed it the best that I could, and I think that it did help quite a lot because I could really
manage my time and make sure that I didn’t go over the time.
6. Technical Qualities
They both are platform
game slide scrolling, and
they are the same pace.
They both start with
the title
Mine has
mountains and
tree and clouds
This one has little grass
mound and some bushes
The text is a little
bit fuzzy and
pixelated because
of the year it was
made
My game looks a bit better
because of the quality and
sharper when it was made
because its new
This game is a bit of a bad
quality because of the year
it was made
The text on mine is
clear because it was
made recently and
it's not that old.
These similarities and
difference exist because
I made most of the game
from my own ideas but I
did make some things
similar because I thought
that they looked good
7. Technical Qualities
This has what console it going
to be on to show people what
console they can buy it for so
they will know if they have the
right console
This one has age rating to
show what age they think
you should be
They both have the main
character on the front to
show who you will be
playing as, each character
is appropriate to the
setting
They both have big bold titles, so
they stand out and it's in the right
place for titles
This one has a release
date so the people buying
it will know when it will
get released
This one has buildings
to show where its set
This one has a
mountain to show
where its set
These similarities and differences exists because I made my background similar to this one
but I changed mine because I made the colour the same but I have got clouds on mine and I
made the title big and bold so it would be easy to read like the free guy one
8. Technical
Qualities
They both have big bold
titles, so they can stand out
and catch the costumers
attention
They both have the
same colour
background because
both games want it to
be during the day
They both have the
main character on the
front to show who you
will be playing as
This one has a mountain
and grass to show where it
is set
This one has a castle
and a bridge to show
a bit about what the
game is about
This one looks calmer because
of the colour pallet because it’s
a calm game
This one looks more harder
because of the colour pallet they
have used to show it will be a
harder game
The similarities and differences exists because I made my
logo similar to this one because I like the big bold text
because it stands out and I put my main characters onto it
but I have changed what is in my background because they
have a castle and I have a mountain
9. Aesthetic Qualities
I think that my work looks good because I took my time with it to make sure that it was all right
and that I was happy with it and then I went onto making my poster to advertise my game and I
think that look really good to because I had thought about advertising it, I also made a logo so it
would look really good when it would be on the Nintendo switch,
The things that I would have improved would be to make my logo a little bit better because it
looks a little bit bare other than that I think that my work looks really good.
The strengths of my products are that they are how I wanted them to look and I think that it is a
good platform game and I can advertise my game to get it out there and made people want to
buy it and when they buy it they with get a nice logo so they will know what game it is.
The weakness of my product is that not everything in the game moves so it would have been
better if I could have made a lot more of my work move.
The way that I drew the sprites, the background and the colours well because I think that I made
a really nice background that has really nice mountains and sky and I think that I found some
good colours that really worked with the background.
I think that animation moved at a good pace because it wasn’t to fast and wasn’t too slow it was
just the right speed and I also think that it was really smooth and clear
10. Aesthetic Qualities
It has got clouds,
mountains, trees and
grass for the
background
It has a big bold title so it
would stand out at the
beginning of the game
The clouds move to show a
little animation so it's more
fun than it not moving
It’s a
platform
game so it is
a bit like
Mario
11. Aesthetic Qualities
The tittle big
and bold so it
stands out
more
It has what console
it coming to so
people will know
what they can play
it on
It has the
release date on
it
It has got
clouds,
mountains,
tress and grass
for the
background
It has got the main
characters on the
front
It has got the
age rating on
it
12. Aesthetic Qualities
Big bold title so
you will be
able to still see
it because it's
going to be
quite small
It has got a
mountain to
show where they
are
It has grass
on it to
show
where
they ate
It has got the main
characters on the
front
It's got a blue
sky to show its
during the day
13. Aesthetic Qualities
• I kept the visuals simple throughout my game by not using
too many colors that might confuse the gamer because If
there are too many colors it will be a bit complicated and I
didn’t use really bright colors either because I thought that
it would be really detracting for the players and I didn’t
want it to be too crowded or too busy, i also didn’t make
the animation too fast because otherwise the player
wouldn’t be able to see what was going on, the target
audience would like it because it was something that some
people wanted to see in my game. I also looked at the
Mario games because it was similar to the game that I
wanted to make I did this because I like the Mario games
and I wanted to make my own game like it.
14. Audience Appeal
• I have appealed to my target audience by keeping it to 16-20 male and female and I think that they
will like it because my game is not too hard but it can get challenging at times.
• The specific content which will appeal to 16-20 year olds is the background music because I think
that it goes with the theme of the game really well and I also think that they will also like the
challenging parts of the game because I think that they will like the challenge
• The specific content which appeals to both genders is the background because it looks really good
because it has got some detail in it because of the mountain and the trees because I think that they
will think that it is really good.
• The specific content which appeals to my social status is the content that is in my game because
you will get a lot of things for a cheaper price because most of the games that are as good as mine
are much more expensive and you will be getting the same features for less.
• The specific content which appeals to my audience psychographic of emulators is the background
because it was all my own work and nobody else’s.
• The specific bits of content that will appeal to my target audience is the platform bit because it is a
bit like Mario and loads of people like Mario so I think that it will be good. People in my
questionnaire said that they would like to see animals in my game rather that people and they also
said that they would like it set in the woods so I made it with loads of trees
• and I added a mountains so it wasn’t just trees.
• The audio appeals to my audience because it was a nice and calm music I put in the background
and it makes the game nice and there also is some eating sounds when the characters eat the food.
The animation I made appeals to my audience because it is a pixel platform game that quite a lot of
people like to play. I achieved this by seeing what they people wanted by giving them a survey to fill
out to find out what they wanted to see I my game and I tried to put as much of them answers into
my game to make them happy.
16. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
• What I liked was that it was nice and colourful and
there was a lot in the background and that the bears
mouth opened and how the animals moved.
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
• The title of the game could have been a different style
and easier to read and the food the the bear eats could
have been eaten whole
rose: 18
17. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
I like the colours and the design for the background of
your game. I like the effects that you made for the text
and for the characters, also for the objects.
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
I think next time you could add a few more
object/characters plus add more colour to the background
of your product.
Sam: 17
18. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the detail you put in the background like the
mountains and trees, and I also like how you had a
system where it tracks how many foods you ate as
well.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– the only things I would say is maybe adding more
detail to the grass and maybe making the animals look
like they are walking. But other than that its really
good.
Harrison:17
19. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– I agree that the background of my game was colourful and that
the effect of the words because it was like bubble writing and they
like the tracker to track how much food your character has eaten.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
• The bits from my peer feedback I don’t agree with is that
someone thinks that the title should be a different style
because I think that the writing looks good as it is and I think
that It goes well with the game because its good in pixels and
its like blocky so it looks like ice cubes and it goes well with
the mountains, and I don’t think that the food should be
eaten whole because I think that it looks better half eaten
because it looks like they are in a rush trying to get to the end
of the game in the fastest time.
20. Peer Feedback Summary
The things that I would change based on my peer
feedback would be to add more effects onto the grass
because I think that I could make it look like long grass
and I would also add more movement in my characters I
will do this by marking the same character by with there
legs in a different place every time, because sometimes
they are moving but it doesn’t look like it is, I would
change these things because it could make my game look
much better because I could make the animals move
more and make the grass longer, I think that it would
make it look more real.
