The document provides an evaluation of an FMP project. It summarizes the student's research, planning, time management, technical and aesthetic qualities of their advergame product. For research, the student analyzed 3 existing games in their genre. For planning, they explored 3 game types before choosing a battle royale style. They received feedback that their animation could be longer and include a self-designed background. The student agrees more levels could improve their game.
3. Research
• I think one strength of my research is that when I picked a genre of game I wanted
to focus on to make my game about I managed to find three existing products
within the genre and analyse them thoroughly. I have also selected images
carefully showing different parts about the game, from the weapon designs to the
characters, the landscapes and colour schemes used.
• I believe that one weakness of my research is that I could have looked at other
existing games to get more ideas for my product, games outside the genre I was
focusing on as it could have given me more ideas and could have influenced my
final product.
4. Planning
• One strength of my planning I think is that I looked in detail at three different types
of games I wanted to make my advergame about. For example I looked at making a
ragdoll type funny game, I also looked at making a story driven game, lastly I looked
at a battle royale style game, this is the idea I settled with.
• Another strength of my work that I can see is that when making my mood board I
sourced lots of varying images for the battle royale idea, for example I sourced
images with characters on them so I could see how I could design my characters, I
got pictures of maps and landscapes, buildings and weapons. Everything I needed
to look at so I could design my game.
• One weakness I can see is that throughout my initial plans is that when I started to
explain why I wanted to make a battle royale game I didn’t go into a lot of detail
about my idea. For example I didn’t explain how the game would play out, or why I
settled with this idea.
5. Time Management
• I managed my time poorly on this unit considering I have handed this one in late.
Apart from being late to hand this assignment in I think I managed my time well in
certain parts of this unit.
• For example I made my advergame in less than a week, I think this is good time
management because, it did not take me long to finish my advergame.
• Before I fell behind on this assignment I managed to complete my research and
initial plans quite quickly as before starting this assignment I already had ideas of
what I wanted to make an advergame about.
6. Technical Qualities
When looking at my product ( top left ) compared to the
existing product ( bottom left ) I can see some clear
differences and some similarities. One similarity
between my game and the existing is that they are both
pixel horror games. One clear difference is the
style/setting of the games, for example the existing
product looks to be a serious horror game as from the
picture I can see a dead body and the game doesn’t give
you a lot of visibility which I can see by the torch in the
character’s hand. This is done to create tension and
suspense for the player, I have not done this in my
product. I have not done this in my product because it is
more of a laid back game rather than tense.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
When looking at a few screenshots of my
work I think it looks like a pixel game. I think
my work shows some creativity as I
designed the ghost, zombies, the path and
the text used for the life counters and the
end game screen. If I could improve my
game I think I would add certain things to
the game, for example I would draw in
some gravestones as I think it would add
more character to the game instead of the
gravestones just being in the background. I
would also add some skeletons on the floor
or chasing the ghost, I also would bring the
dead trees forward so they too are not just
in the background.
8. Audience Appeal
When looking at my game and thinking of my
audience I think I have appealed to them. I
believe this because my audience are gamers
and I have created a game. It is a horror pixel
game therefore it could attract fans of horror
games and fans of pixel games. I believe that the
zombies and ghost will appeal to fans of horror
and the fact that the game is a pixel game will
appeal to fans of pixel games.
10. Feedback 1

– I like the characters in the animation and that the
animation is smooth and not blocky.
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
– I think that your animation could have been longer and
that you could have designed the background yourself.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the idea of your game
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
– could have added more levels to your game
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– From looking at my feedback I agree with that I could have made
my game longer by adding more levels.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I do not disagree with any of the points made on my feedback.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
When reading my feedback and taking in all the points made by my peers I would make my
game longer by making and adding more levels to my game. I could also add more characters to
my game and items, for example I could make more enemies to game, like skeletons and
vampires. I could also have added a coin counter to go with the life counter. I could have
designed my background instead of getting an image off of google. I would make all of these
changes as I think it would make my product a lot better.
