Research
STRENGTHS OF MY RESEARCH
• I was able to find out things in common between platform games that
makes them attractive and interesting to their targeted audience.
• I was able to find out the theme and features that makes the game more
appealing to their audience.
• I learned what kind of characters and actions that today’s generation into
now.
WEAKNESS OF MY RESEARCH
I could’ve played one platform game so I can draw more insights on how the
characters move and how the stories goes in the game. I could’ve see and
compare more products that have similar theme with me, with this my
product may become better in animation and sound aspects as well such as
sound effects.
Planning
STRENGTHS OF MY PLANNING
• With planning I managed to finish my product according to the scheduled
that I have set.
• With planning I was able to see the whole picture of my ideas on how my
game is going to become such as the plot, sound effects and the features
that are in the demo animated game.
• With planning I can use it as a guidance when I produced my animated
demo game.
WEAKNESS OF MY PLANNING
• I could’ve add more ideas and features to include in the game if only I
exposed myself to more platform games projects that are currently
available on the market. With this I will be able to come up with more
exciting plots and features such as characters, props and mystery boxes.
Time Management
I believe I managed my time well from the start of my FMP project starting
from my initial plans to starting on my FMP evaluation. I completed my FMP
project which is a demo animated game. So far I am satisfied of my product as
I tried my best with the skills that I have developed ever since I started to join
this creative media course and of course with the experiences that comes
with it as well really helped me to plan out my product and completing it.
However, I also believe that with more additional time I could’ve done more
research and expose myself to more products on the market so I can broaden
my ideas and get inspirations from all those products. If I could’ve had more
time to complete my FMP project I would’ve spend more time in drawing
better characters and would’ve add more creative thrilling moments such as
scene fight between characters or mystery boxes during the demo animated
game. With this I believe that my product would be more appealing towards
my targeted audience and the overall demo animated game would be more
interesting.
Technical Qualities
Similarities between products
• Both imitates real life setting in order for the
targeted audience to be able to be
completely immersed into the game.
• Both begins the game with the character on
the right to create an impression that the
game is just about to begin.
• Both uses dark-tone colours to set the
desired atmosphere which is relaxed and
cloudy. Which adds the mystery element to
the game.
Differences between products
• The graphics on the right has more details
especially for the trees that adds more
character and made it more appealing
compared to the one on the left which is
too basic.
• The props included in the game on the
right has more which are stone idols and a
small temple on the right side. Compared
to the product on the left where the props
used are only trees and stones.
Technical Qualities
Similarities of both products
• Both decided to use the shape square as a
frame for the app.
• Both decided to put a character/characters at
the front of the app logo to familiarise their
targeted audience on what kind of characters
that they will see once they launched the app.
• They isolated the character from the
background to further emphasises the
character rather than the background.
Differences of both products
• The logo on the right uses more rich colours
that makes it more appealing and interesting
rather than the one of the left uses basic and
dull tone of colours.
• The product on the left occupies the whole
space to maximizes its image quality and by
using the whole space it shows the state of
creativity done by the developer compared to
the one on the left where only a part of the
square is used.
Aesthetic Qualities
I personally believe that my work
looks good with the skills that I have
developed ever since I started this
media course. With the experience
that I had using Premier Pro and
Photoshop, I produced this demo
animated game to my best capability.
I like the overall plot of the demo
animated game as I have created it
myself. I think it’s really creative, the
way how I included a cliff hanger into
the plot which satisfies my targeted
audience. I would definitely improve
the setting of my game, the
characters and improve the features
such as the sound effect and adding
more props into the demo animated
game. I would improve the setting of
the game by making it more detailed
and adding more texture to the trees,
stones and the green veins as well. I
would improve the sound effect by
spending more time browsing for
more accurate and suitable for that
actions.
Strengths
• The product is unique, original
and the plot itself is not in every
game in the market right now.
• The animation runs smoothly
and the movement of the
characters are smooth as well.
• The plot of the game is
interesting as it intrigued the
players/audience to be curious
and question themselves what
will happen next.
• The characters in my product is
original and different from
others which makes it more
interesting to see new
characters.
Weaknesses
• The graphics and the texture in this of my demo animated demo
game are not at the level that it should be compared to the products
available on the market.
• There are no mystery boxes or fancy effects that happens in the game.
• The whole animation was too basic and there are nothing that could
make my targeted audience feel more interested or attracted to my
product.
Audience Appeal
I think I tried my best to include
everything that I would need to make
my product looks appealing to my
targeted audience. As requested by my
targeted audience from the
questionnaires, I made the whole
demo animated game lasted to more
than 5 seconds which the total
duration is 24 seconds. I also made the
whole setting of the game located at a
forest as requested. I made my
characters to be males in this game. I
added rivals into the game because I
received 100% positive response
saying they want to have a rivalry in
the game. However, I couldn’t add a
background music due to copyright
issues. I even made a plot that fits my
targeted audience taste which is a cliff-
hanger. I also used the colours
suggested which is dark toned colours.
I included all of this to impress my
targeted audience and make my
product looks more appealing them. I
also made them accessible via phone
and I charged no prices for them to
enjoy this product during their spare
time.
I believe I have done everything and
included most of the things that will
make my product appeals more to my
targeted audience. I used the dark
toned colours for my app logo as well as
suggested by my interviewee. I also
decided to add in three characters on
my logo to make sure all the spaces are
used. I am still even persistent on
staying with the forest background so
that it still fits with my theme and the
actual setting of the game.
Peer Feedback
Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– A direct or straight forward to what it wants to
show
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
It needs to add a bit more movement.
Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the design of the monkey and the noise it
makes in the background is scary and fits the
theme.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
It could’ve been longer and faster.
Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– The sound effect were on point and fitted with
what was on the screen
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– The text is very hard to read and understand what
its saying
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– I do agree that my plot is straightforward and abled to send the message that I intended to my
targeted audience.
– I also agree that the sound effects that I used are suitable and fitted perfectly into the scene I
wanted.
– I do agree that the dialogues that I put into the demo animated game could be better as in put
in actual real life words so that my targeted audience could understand it better.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I disagree on the fact that my animation needs more improvement as my capability on
drawing pixels on photoshop is very limited due to the actual pencil tool itself and the lack of
experience and skills that I have developed over the months that I use photoshop.
– I disagree with the feedback saying that my product was too short in duration and could be
even longer. My product lasted more than 5 seconds which was the preferred duration given
by my targeted audience and if I make it even longer it will just be too long and wont be
appealing to the audience that I’m intended to.
Peer Feedback Summary
The changes that I would make to my product.
• I would definitely improve the dialogues in the demo
animated game into the alphabets that English speakers could
understand. This is because I believe that if my audience could
understand the text instead of it being in an alienated
alphabets, they would understand the plot and the whole
situations more.
• I would maybe change the duration of the video and extend it
a little bit longer by adding more plots and situations into the
demo animated game in order to “satisfy” a part of my
targeted audience that would prefer it to be longer.

With this I will be able to come up with more exciting plots and features such as characters, props and mystery boxes.
  • 5. Time Management I believe I managed my time well from the start of my FMP project starting from my initial plans to starting on my FMP evaluation. I completed my FMP project which is a demo animated game. So far I am satisfied of my product as I tried my best with the skills that I have developed ever since I started to join this creative media course and of course with the experiences that comes with it as well really helped me to plan out my product and completing it. However, I also believe that with more additional time I could’ve done more research and expose myself to more products on the market so I can broaden my ideas and get inspirations from all those products. If I could’ve had more time to complete my FMP project I would’ve spend more time in drawing better characters and would’ve add more creative thrilling moments such as scene fight between characters or mystery boxes during the demo animated game. With this I believe that my product would be more appealing towards my targeted audience and the overall demo animated game would be more interesting.
  • 6. Technical Qualities Similarities between products • Both imitates real life setting in order for the targeted audience to be able to be completely immersed into the game. • Both begins the game with the character on the right to create an impression that the game is just about to begin. • Both uses dark-tone colours to set the desired atmosphere which is relaxed and cloudy. Which adds the mystery element to the game. Differences between products • The graphics on the right has more details especially for the trees that adds more character and made it more appealing compared to the one on the left which is too basic. • The props included in the game on the right has more which are stone idols and a small temple on the right side. Compared to the product on the left where the props used are only trees and stones.
  • 7. Technical Qualities Similarities of both products • Both decided to use the shape square as a frame for the app. • Both decided to put a character/characters at the front of the app logo to familiarise their targeted audience on what kind of characters that they will see once they launched the app. • They isolated the character from the background to further emphasises the character rather than the background. Differences of both products • The logo on the right uses more rich colours that makes it more appealing and interesting rather than the one of the left uses basic and dull tone of colours. • The product on the left occupies the whole space to maximizes its image quality and by using the whole space it shows the state of creativity done by the developer compared to the one on the left where only a part of the square is used.
  • 8. Aesthetic Qualities I personally believe that my work looks good with the skills that I have developed ever since I started this media course. With the experience that I had using Premier Pro and Photoshop, I produced this demo animated game to my best capability. I like the overall plot of the demo animated game as I have created it myself. I think it’s really creative, the way how I included a cliff hanger into the plot which satisfies my targeted audience. I would definitely improve the setting of my game, the characters and improve the features such as the sound effect and adding more props into the demo animated game. I would improve the setting of the game by making it more detailed and adding more texture to the trees, stones and the green veins as well. I would improve the sound effect by spending more time browsing for more accurate and suitable for that actions. Strengths • The product is unique, original and the plot itself is not in every game in the market right now. • The animation runs smoothly and the movement of the characters are smooth as well. • The plot of the game is interesting as it intrigued the players/audience to be curious and question themselves what will happen next. • The characters in my product is original and different from others which makes it more interesting to see new characters. Weaknesses • The graphics and the texture in this of my demo animated demo game are not at the level that it should be compared to the products available on the market. • There are no mystery boxes or fancy effects that happens in the game. • The whole animation was too basic and there are nothing that could make my targeted audience feel more interested or attracted to my product.
  • 9. Audience Appeal I think I tried my best to include everything that I would need to make my product looks appealing to my targeted audience. As requested by my targeted audience from the questionnaires, I made the whole demo animated game lasted to more than 5 seconds which the total duration is 24 seconds. I also made the whole setting of the game located at a forest as requested. I made my characters to be males in this game. I added rivals into the game because I received 100% positive response saying they want to have a rivalry in the game. However, I couldn’t add a background music due to copyright issues. I even made a plot that fits my targeted audience taste which is a cliff- hanger. I also used the colours suggested which is dark toned colours. I included all of this to impress my targeted audience and make my product looks more appealing them. I also made them accessible via phone and I charged no prices for them to enjoy this product during their spare time. I believe I have done everything and included most of the things that will make my product appeals more to my targeted audience. I used the dark toned colours for my app logo as well as suggested by my interviewee. I also decided to add in three characters on my logo to make sure all the spaces are used. I am still even persistent on staying with the forest background so that it still fits with my theme and the actual setting of the game.
  • 11. Feedback 1 • What did you like about the product? – A direct or straight forward to what it wants to show • What improvements could have been made to the product? It needs to add a bit more movement.
  • 12. Feedback 2 • What did you like about the product? – I liked the design of the monkey and the noise it makes in the background is scary and fits the theme. • What improvements could have been made to the product? It could’ve been longer and faster.
  • 13. Feedback 3 • What did you like about the product? – The sound effect were on point and fitted with what was on the screen • What improvements could have been made to the product? – The text is very hard to read and understand what its saying
  • 14. Peer Feedback Summary • What do you agree with from your peer feedback? – I do agree that my plot is straightforward and abled to send the message that I intended to my targeted audience. – I also agree that the sound effects that I used are suitable and fitted perfectly into the scene I wanted. – I do agree that the dialogues that I put into the demo animated game could be better as in put in actual real life words so that my targeted audience could understand it better. • What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? – I disagree on the fact that my animation needs more improvement as my capability on drawing pixels on photoshop is very limited due to the actual pencil tool itself and the lack of experience and skills that I have developed over the months that I use photoshop. – I disagree with the feedback saying that my product was too short in duration and could be even longer. My product lasted more than 5 seconds which was the preferred duration given by my targeted audience and if I make it even longer it will just be too long and wont be appealing to the audience that I’m intended to.
  • 15. Peer Feedback Summary The changes that I would make to my product. • I would definitely improve the dialogues in the demo animated game into the alphabets that English speakers could understand. This is because I believe that if my audience could understand the text instead of it being in an alienated alphabets, they would understand the plot and the whole situations more. • I would maybe change the duration of the video and extend it a little bit longer by adding more plots and situations into the demo animated game in order to “satisfy” a part of my targeted audience that would prefer it to be longer.
