2. Process
• On the first day of creating my final product, I decided to
create a basic main menu screen that I could use in
animation. I tried to make it look as basic as possible to
start with using a black background and a yellow border.
Once I had created the outline I then had to create
wording used with pixelated text, this meant that I had
to look into how I would make each letter and what size
it would all have to be to fit into place. It took 4 attempts
of re doing the pixelated text to get it to look like
something that I was happy with and felt that I could
use. I went back through the border adding another
layer of yellow between a gap of black for the border, I
did this so that it made the boarder look like a painting
or picture portrait. I believe that using this colour
scheme adds a nice affect to it and makes it stands out
which is why I made it like that. I added red colouring to
different parts of the page such as writing and boarder. I
feel like this represents the simplicity that I was going for
when I started, I'm disappointed that I couldn't’t create a
more interesting space background like I originally
intended in pre production but I was not given enough
time to create a nebula in the background giving it a
more mystic affect. When creating this I used the pencil
tool to only colour certain squares so that it didn't’t fade
over to the other side. When I added the red colouring
to different parts of the boarder I made sure that it fit
well with the design.
3. Process
• On the second day of completion after I created the
border and the main menu I created a background for
the game so that it adds more detail and makes it more
interesting. although I originally wanted a nebula or a
more spacey themed affect in the background I feel that
this works well to and represents the type of space
feature game that I was intending to make. I included a
pixilated earth and stars, this adds more to it rather than
just a black background. To make the stars I made it fade
out as it gets further out from the centre that makes it
look like its shining in the background for the earth I
made a globe like shape that has the green and blue as
well as the moon orbiting it. The reason that I did this is
to make it seem a lot more atmospheric. I also added
the title with a different underline to the others so that
it stands out as the title as well as making different
underlines for the option menu to animate later on and
create into a timeline. The underline is red as I believe
and feel that the two colours of red and yellow fit well
together. When I did this I used the pencil tool to outline
the different shades of star and change the different
colours for the design, I used the eraser tool to fade out
the stars so that it gives them a faded glow.
4. Process
• On the third day I created the play board and an option
menu for the play board I made the outline of the board
red so that its clearly visible and stands out really well on
the black background making it more visible and adding
a futuristic feel to the game. I made the option menu
pixilated text yellow so that it keeps to the same as the
other texts within the game. I also created a white
screen so that it enlarged over the screen when an
option is chosen from the starting menu making it stand
out more and this means that
• On this part I used the pencil tool to go around each part
of the board set up and make the pitch set up and this
took time to make sure that each pixel was drawn red
and in the end result is something that I think fits well
with the overall look of it.
• I then used the pencil tool to draw out different stars in
the background so that it adds in a space feel to it and
makes it into a different type of game.
5. Process
• The idea behind this image is that I worked on getting the
earth to move across the board and hit the different barriers.
• I used the pencil tool to achieve this by drawing the earth on a
separate layer which meant that I could animate it and change
it so that the earth could move all around the map field.
• I also used the pencil tool to draw out 2 different boxes at the
end of the each screen at top left and top right. I then used
the pencil tool t add in 2 different symbols of a zero which was
the best that I could do in pixels. I put the zeroes on separate
layers to the boxes and separate layers to each others that I
could use.
• I used the pencil tool to add in the guidelines and coloured
them blue and added 2 on each side as the barriers to stop
the actual barrier you play as from moving out of place adding
something to it and then it works great because it suits the
way that the average looks and matches the type of style that
was going for.
• I then used the pencil tool on 2 different layers so that I could
fit the yellow part of the barriers in which is what the player
plays as and I think that this is a good concept and fits into the
game idea that I was making.
• I think that this game board set up works well and the tools I
used helped me set it up and I feel that the scoring system
suits it.
6. Process
• I used the pencil to outline a boarder of yellow in the shape of
a large rectangle so that I had the boarder there and could
shape it around the simple concept.
• I used pencil tool to write out each letter of the name of the
game which was ricochet and I needed to make sure that it
into the box correctly and suited the look of it and the way
that I felt was the best to do this with was cutting the text out
with the text cut tool that I used to restart and also to do each
letter on different layers so that I could use them separately.
• I used the paint bucket tool to paint the background fully black
so that the text would stand out on it and fit into the screen
more making the title the centre piece of the work.
• I then used the pencil tool so that I could add in the under line
on the title to make it stand out more and look better adds
more to the title in general and improves on the overall look
of it.
• I used the drag tool to centre everything to the correct fitting
side in the middle of the page and this then stood out more
and makes it look more professional and I think that all these
tools worked well and the process was good and I think that I
would be happy with this as the final outlook part of the
game.
