3. Definition – Research you do yourself.
Advantages -You can create your own research to get the
information you need for your work and you could ask
extra questions during and interview.
Disadvantages - It can take a long time to set-up your
research and also finding the right people to ask can
sometimes be a challenge.

4. Definition – Using research that somebody has already made in your own work.
Advantages -The research has already been done for you. You just need to look at
it and then use it in your project and there can be a wide range of resources
available.
Disadvantages - The research may not be quite what you were looking for and you
have to rely on how well others have researched

5. Definition – Research that you can quantify/measure and put into percentages,
fractions and numbers
Advantages – shows how much data there is in something.
Disadvantages – Some of the figures are counted up incorrectly

Quantitative Research
6. Definition - Research that goes more in depth- finding out
opinions/beliefs/reasoning
Advantages – It goes more in depth as to why a certain person
did something
Disadvantages – Some things may be based someone's opinion
and it may not be correct

7. Definition - Finding out about who consumes a product
Advantages – You get to find out what the audience wants from
the media
Disadvantages – Not every audience will like what the media will
present to them

8. Definition – Finding out about the market place where a product
is sold.
Advantages – You find out where the product is being sold.
Disadvantages - Market research can be costly depending on the
methods chosen by the company
Example- phone surveys

9. Definition - Finding information and resources required to
produce a piece of media.
Advantages – the gain of knowledge of how much everything is
going to cost and where to get all the main resources from.
Disadvantages - unreliable sources like with market research and
unreliable people and suppliers which can affect the deadline
date.

10. Objective - Research that is not influenced by personal feelings
or opinions.
Subjective - Research that has been influenced by personal
feelings or opinions
Valid - Whether the research proposed is able to answer the
intended outcome/question
Reliable - Research that produces accurate and consistent
results
