Assignment Brief and Guidance - Report
You are working for a local quantity surveying consultant firm named Design Advocacy, which
specialises in commercial and industrial projects. The company has a new project for a new
company. You have been asked to prepare Contract documents for a 10 story shopping complex
project. To this end, you have been asked to prepare a briefing report for the head of the
developer’s project team.
Your report is intended to:
 Analyse the pre-construction and construction functions of a professional quantity surveyor
and a contractor’s quantity surveyor. You will Compare the functions of a professional
quantity surveyor and a contractor’s quantity surveyor during the execution of a
construction contract for the given complex project
 As part of your report discuss the interaction of a professional quantity surveyor and a
contractor’s quantity surveyor with different teams during the pre-construction phase and
construction phase of this project. Further, you are asked to analyse the financial
interactions between the professional quantity surveyor and the contractor’s quantity
surveyor during the construction phase of this project. In addition to that critically analyse
the contractor’s quantity surveyor’s interactions in maintaining the profitability of this
contract
 Analyse the criteria used for the selection of a contract for a large complex project and
prepare a contract, based on an appropriate standard, for the given project (Refer
annexure), assess the selection of a contract, based on how it meets the requirements of
the given project. Further evaluate the selection of a contract for a shopping complex
construction project, based on how it supports the client and contractor.
 For a selected project prepare preliminary items and specification sections based on an
appropriate standard and evaluate the relationship between preliminary items and
specification sections in clearly defining works. In addition to that, justify the definition of
preliminary items and specification sections in meeting client requirements.

The company has a new project for a new company. You have been asked to prepare Contract documents for a 10 story shopping complex project. To this end, you have been asked to prepare a briefing report for the head of the developer’s project team. Your report is intended to:  Analyse the pre-construction and construction functions of a professional quantity surveyor and a contractor’s quantity surveyor. You will Compare the functions of a professional quantity surveyor and a contractor’s quantity surveyor during the execution of a construction contract for the given complex project  As part of your report discuss the interaction of a professional quantity surveyor and a contractor’s quantity surveyor with different teams during the pre-construction phase and construction phase of this project. Further, you are asked to analyse the financial interactions between the professional quantity surveyor and the contractor’s quantity surveyor during the construction phase of this project. In addition to that critically analyse the contractor’s quantity surveyor’s interactions in maintaining the profitability of this contract  Analyse the criteria used for the selection of a contract for a large complex project and prepare a contract, based on an appropriate standard, for the given project (Refer annexure), assess the selection of a contract, based on how it meets the requirements of the given project.
