2. • A rare but life-threatening condition caused by bacteria
getting into the body and releasing harmful toxins,
• It's happening due to the usage of tampons and menstrual
cups for a longer duration in single usage,
• It is not spread from person to person.
3. CAUSES:
• The usage of menstrual cups and tampons are not directly
causing TSS, however, it is due to prolonged usage of these
products causes to release of a huge no. of toxins by the
bacteria in the vagina,
• Using tampons, particularly high absorbency ones,
• Using female barrier contraception,
• Childbirth.
6. PREVENTION:
• Use low- absorbency tampons and change them frequently (
every 4-8 hours),
• Maintain menstrual cup hygiene,
• Stay updated on signs & symptoms,
• Wash hands before and after inserting tampons & cups,
• Never have more than 1 tampon in your vagina at a time,
• When using tampons at night, insert a new one before going
to sleep and remove them when you wake up or use pads at
night,

instructions carefully about how long it can be used.
