FEMALE CONDOMS
- PELVSIO
Female condoms are made from soft, thin synthetic
latex.
To stop sperm from reaching the womb, they are worn
inside the vagina.
If you want to engage in sexual activity after having a
baby, a miscarriage, or an abortion, you can use
condoms; however, they may not be suitable for women
who do not feel comfortable touching their genital area.
HOW DOES A CONDOM FUNCTION?
• It is an intravaginal barrier technique of contraception.
By preventing the sperm from contacting the egg, they
prevent conception,
•You can insert it into the vagina before having
intercourse, but make sure the penis doesn't make touch
with the vagina first,
•Even before orgasm, a man's penis can still secrete
sperm,
•Condoms are the only form of birth control that, when
used properly, offers protection against pregnancy and
HOW TO WEAR?
• Without tearing it, open the packet and remove it,
•Insert the condom into the vagina by squeezing the
smaller ring at the closed end,
•Make sure the large ring at the open end of the condom
completely covers the area around the vaginal opening,
•Make sure the penis is placed inside the female condom
and not in the space between it and the vaginal side,
•Remove it right away by gently taking it out after sex. To
prevent semen from leaking out, you can twist the big
ring,
•Dispose of the condom in the dustbin.
ADVANTAGES:
•It helps protect both partners from STIs including HIV,
•If used correctly, it is 95% effective,
•It's a form of contraception you can use during sex to
protect against pregnancy,
•There are no serious side effects.
DISADVANTAGES:
•For some couples, inserting a condom interrupts sex.
This can be avoided by inserting it in advance or by
involving it in foreplay,
•They are very durable, but they may tear if not used
properly,
•They are not as widely available as male condoms,
•more expensive.
WHAT MAKES FEMAE CONDOMS LESS
EFFECTIVE?
Even while using a female condom during intercourse,
sperm might enter the vagina.
This could occur if:
• Before inserting a condom, the penis touches the area
around the vagina,
• The condom gets pushed too far into the vagina,
• Accidentally, the penis slips in between the condom
and the vaginal wall,
• The condom gets damaged by the sharp fingernails.
