The document discusses the various media technologies used at different stages of a media production project on the band Arcade Fire. Technologies like Google Chrome, YouTube, and Wikipedia were used for research. Footage was taken with a Canon camera and edited in Final Cut Pro. Photoshop was used to design a logo, digital packaging, and advertisement. Cubase was used to edit the song. Technologies like Word, PowerPoint, and SlideShare were used to answer evaluation questions, which were then uploaded to a blog created with Blogger. A Wix site was used to professionally present the completed evaluation.

Question 4
1. How did you use media technologies in the construction and
research, planning and evaluation stages?
Question Four
2. In our Media Production we used a vast majority of different media
technologies throughout the course, different media technologies work
well with different parts of the course. We went through a vide range of
different technologies, from social networking sites to organizing sites
such as twitter and prezzi.
3. Research
• During our research we wanted to know a significant amount about the band
Arcade Fire and the genre indie rock, with the help of Google Chrome, YouTube
and Wikipedia we gathered a real understanding of the band and Indie Rock.
Looking through videos on YouTube we found extremely helpful things that will
benefit our video, we discovered the correct apparel for Indie Rock, the correct
performance/mood for Indie Rock, also we discovered the correct
settings/locations for Indie Rock, all of these little useful facts contributed to the
production of our Media video. For our digipack, we took inspiration through
Google images, various blogs and YouTube videos.
• We found out that Microsoft word was commonly used to carry out parts of our
research, it was quick, easy and extremely beneficial. We used a software
called SlideShare to carry out our research onto our blog. We used a website
called Blogger, this was basically our blogs in which we posted our work in
categories Research, Planning, Construction and Evaluation, Blogger is a
website that showcases our work.
4. Planning/Shooting
• Whilst underway with the planning, we were set back with the task of using other
technologies to showcase our work, along with this we wanted to use other
technologies and software's to edit and create our work. For instance we used a
Cannon 600D, this was for our test footage which we uploaded on final Cut, we
transported it through to the IMac’s.
• Whilst planning our digipack, we decided as a group to follow the concept of the
video using key images that reflected the narrative. This ended up being the
choice of using the lead character and the background of the city. Once we
sketched these on paper, then finalised with the fine line pen, we scanned the
images onto our accounts, from then we rendered in Photoshop to make it more
visible, from then we exported it onto our blog page.
• We realised that our song was a bit too long, with the use of Cubase we cut up
the song, so the first part of the song matched the themes of the start of our
music video, whereas the end of the song matches the themes of the end of our
music video.
5. Construction
• After the planning of our music video, our digipack and advert, we went forward and
started the creation of our music video. With the footage we took, we exported it
down onto Final Cut Express and began the editing phase, there was minor setbacks
with this software including the rendering time, sometimes it took the best part of
thirty minutes, but with perseverance we stuck at it and finished.
• Photoshop was a key element towards our A2 Portfolio, we used it rather early in our
unit, we had to create a company logo in which we used through our work, it can be
visible throughout our blogpage homepage, Photoshop was used to create the
digipack, we took photographs of our casted star and exported them onto Photoshop,
we already had the template at the ready, so all there was left to do in our group was
to be creative and design our digipack suited to the theme of the music genre of
choice (Indie Rock). For the creation of our advert, we followed the same as the
digipack, making sure it all flowed into one, w used the same colours, font and
images.
• We used Cubase to edit down the time of our song early on in the planning stage, but
we realised that it didn’t have a natural flow to it, with numerous efforts and different
ideas, we came up with the one we used on the video, it just felt right.
6. Evaluation
For our evaluation, we used various media technologies.
• Question 1. Due to our Question one being rather long on Word, we took out a camera from
college and filmed the answer, we took the footage from the Panasonic, exported it onto Final Cut,
edited out the parts that weren’t necessary, rendered and exported it onto our blog.
• Question 2. in reply to Question two, it wasn’t as long as the other questions, after the question
was complete we put it onto SlideShare, then it was ready to place onto our blog.
• Question 3. as Question three was asking about audience feedback, we asked three people to
watch our blog, after they watched it we took out a camera, and asked them various questions
about the video, after this was done we exported that footage onto Final Cut, we included the
questions on a slide before that given person answered, we put the questions in chronological
order, meaning the first question would be answered by the three people, then we done the
second and third one it the orderly fashion it followed. After this was complete we done a write up
about our audience feedback on word and placed into SlideShare and then our blog.
• Question 4. as Question four was basically a summary of the different technologies we used
throughout the unit, we thought using Microsoft PowerPoint would be the most beneficial, after
this was all complete we exported this onto SlideShare and onto the blog.
After we completed all of the evaluation questions, we wanted to present them in a professional way,
we thought the best way to do this is using a Wix, a simple but effective way to present our work.
