How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
1.
2.
Firstly my group and I had to think about what genre of the music
we wanted to use for our music video. We came to joint conclusion
that we would do rnb which lead us to analyse other music videos in
the same genre on YouTube. I analysed 3 music videos within the
rnb sector which I looked at shot for shot.
I talked about concepts of the video that I wanted to incorporate into
my music video and from that allowed us to think of things that inspired
us for our own music video. Also as we analysed different videos we
were able to bring together different concepts for our music video
3. The next step was making our treatment which we made on Prezi,
Prezi is useful when doing a presentation as the layout is professional
and also there’s a lot of different ways for things to move around
which makes the presentation more enjoyable to look at.
The Prezi included all our ideas for our music video, which we then
presented in front of the class. Our peers then gave us feedback on
what they liked and disliked. This allowed us to collect more ideas
and also make some changes to our ideas.
We then uploaded our presentation and feedback onto YouTube
which allowed us to get comments from an even wider audience.
4.
My group and I used google images to get ideas from other
digipacks in the same genre e.g. Beyoncé, Rihanna, Ciara, Maria
Carey and got inspiration from this. It allowed us to understand the
concept of the digipacks and what was common for that genre
and what a professional one looked like.

Before making our music video we were taught how to use the
equipment, such as the DSLR cameras. We were shown different
settings and how to attach the equipment e.g. stands and holding
piece. After that we then used the DSLR camera to film our music
video, we used different navigations on the camera whilst filming
such as zoom and focus.
We also used pan to add interesting and different shots which
would merge together on final cut pro. In addition to this we had to
the use the DSLR cameras for our photo shoot for the digipak, where
we had to take lighting and focus into consideration.
6.
Final cut pro allowed us to edit and alternate the shots we had
taken on the DSLR camera. Even though we were taught how to
use the software I still found it quite hard to use it at first but further
along began to get used to it. The software allowed us to add text
onto our music video, use different effects and also add in music
which was merged with the lip sync. In addition to this some parts of
our music video included a green screen which had then change
the background of in order for it to fit the concept of our music
video.
7.
During the course of the project we used blogger constantly in and
outside of class to upload work and helped us to organise our work.
Blogger is an easy technology to use which we use to look at one
another's work and also allows you to upload almost anything. It also
helped as I had the blogger app on my mobile which made it more
practical for me to post things to my blog when I was not by a
computer or laptop.
8.
We used Photoshop in the process of editing our digipak. Firstly we
watched YouTube tutorials to see how to use basic navigations
which helped us out a lot. The tools on Photoshop were useful such
as text box, eraser and using layers. These tools became easier to
use overtime as we had to use Photoshop most of the time. This
allowed us to make our digipak more professional as the theme was
consistent through out
9.
We also used illustrator to design the font of our album name
and the rest of the digipak. We made different font styles to
choose from and chose which one most fitted with the
concept of our music video. Also from our own research we
found that there was a common trend in Beyoncé’s fonts so
we tried to follow a similar theme.
