Evaluation Q4
1. HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA
TECHNOLOGIES IN THE
CONSTRUCTION AND
RESEARCH, PLANNING AND
EVALUATION STAGES?
2. RESEARCH AND PLANNING
During the research and planning stages I used technologies such as the
internet, Prezi, Blogger, Phone, YouTube and more.
Blogger:
Throughout the whole process I
have used Blogger to blog my
work. It has been where all my
research has been put in one
place.
Slideshare:
I used Slideshare when I
had done work on a
Word document or
Powerpoint so I could
upload it onto my blog,
this was useful so I
could use different ways
of presentation.
Prezi:
I have used Prezi a lot throughout the
research and planning stages to present
different types of work such as: music
video conventions, student video analysis
and mise-en-scene for our music video.
Prezi is a great way to present work in a
creative way. Also used for research into
our ancillary texts.
I found all these
technologies easy to
use as I used them a
lot last year also
3. RESEARCH AND PLANNING
YouTube:
I used YouTube quite a lot to begin with to
research what song we wanted to do as a group.
I then used it more to research conventions and
generic conventions of music videos. This was
fairly easy to do as I am aware how to use it and
there is a lot of music videos readily available. As
a group, we used YouTube to upload our target
audience interviews, focus groups and auditions
to put onto our blogs. I used YouTube for
audience research, how many views videos got in
he Ska genre and also comments they got.
Google:
I used Google as my main search engine to find images, song lyrics and
general information such as different job roles. I find Google very easy to
use as I have done for a long time.
4. R
Facebook:
ESEARCH
I used Facebook as a way of communication for my
target audience member profiles. We used
Facebook as a group to have group conversations
with members of our cast to sort out date and times
for filming. This was very easy as all of our cast use
Facebook, this was the easiest way to talk as a
group
Cameras/Phones:
I used a camera or my phone
to take pictures of the locations
for filming, and also to take
pictures of the story board once
we had finished it so it could be
uploaded onto a computer and
used to put into Prezi. Our
phones were also used to
contact people.
AND
PLANNING
BBC Social Class Test:
Once we had found our target
audience, I did a social class test on
the BBC website so we could get to
know our audience better. This was
fairly easy to use as it is like a
questionnaire.
5. Microsoft Word:
I used Microsoft Word to make
the shot lists and shooting
schedules, this was the easiest
way to do this for the layouts. We
also used Word to compose our
questionnaires.
RESEARCH AND PLANNING
Computers:
During the research and planning
stage, to be able to use all this different
websites, software etc. we needed
computers. Computers are the main
hardware that I used in this stage.
Sony Vegas:
We used the editing software Sony Vegas
to add text to our focus groups/interviews
and to edit our audition. This was fairly easy
to do as we learnt how to do the basics last
year.
6. HD cameras:
For our music video we used the HD
cameras to film and take pictures when out
filming. These were fairly simple to use as
we are used to the cameras and how to
operate them because using them last
year.
CONSTRUCTION
Smoke machine and lighting:
In the band scenes, we placed a flood
lamp on the floor to make the light
bounce of the walls in interesting angles.
We also used a smoke machine so you
could see the surrounding building site so
much.
YouTube to MP3
converter:
To get our song onto the computer we
used a website which converts
YouTube videos to MP3 files. This was
quick and easy to do.
7. C
Computers:
ONSTRUCTION
We used the computers to upload all our footage and
Sony Vegas:
to begin editing what we had filmed.
Sony Vegas is the editing software we
used to edit our music video. We were
all comfortable with using Sony Vegas
as we used it in our preliminary task
and last year when making the film
opening.
We used the software to add in fades,
to change the contrast, add effects
and speed or slow down footage. We
did all this to make a more interesting
and complex video.
Photoshop:
Photoshop was used to make our digipak and
magazine advert. None of us were familiar with
Photoshop so we had to play around a little bit to get
used to the different tools and asked peers for help.
We started by cropping out all the characters from our
originally picture to get the individual characters as
their own image. We then rotated them and scaled
them to size. We then copied and pasted the whole
image to put on the magazine advert.
8. During the evaluation stages of the coursework I

have used programmes that I used in the
research and planning stages.
Prezi:
For evaluation questions 1 and 2 I used Prezi
to present my work. I find Prezi very easy to
use and make interesting presentations. I
started off with a template but then added my
own pattern and different frames so it would
