1. Treatment Sheet
Concept- young man saw walking confidently among the suburbs living his
everyday life. He’s comfortable and happy in his living environment with it being
small and close. First half of the video shows him living his young life all happy
and nothing to worry about.
Second half we see this man slightly older starting off with a clean cut living in
the city a much larger and crazier place than were he grew up. As the video
progresses he starts to lose his clean cut and gets scruffier and weaker, the city is
taking a toll on his life and it’s a huge struggle, making him upset and ill with him
being pushed around at work and by others walking among him.
End of the video we seem him walking up to the bridge ready to take his life, as
he stands on the bridge he begins to reminisce of his past life in the suburbs
bringing him to happier feeling as he takes his life.
Suburbs camera shots have brighter lighting and are seen to be a happier place,
while the city shots are darker mostly set at night.
Narrative
The story in our video is about a young man moving from the suburbs to the big
city. Thinking his life is going to go to better places. However the city takes a
large toll on him, ruining him gradually mentally and physically. As the video
progress’ his body starts to show weakness making him look ill. His clean cut
eventually fades making him look like he’s in an unkempt state.
His suburban life is far better than what he expected the city to be, which is
shown earlier in the video. However all of this is gone and he feels like he has to
move on as everyone else has. He feels like he has to move on even if he doesn’t.
He decides to take his life as he can’t take it anymore and the only way back is
through the memories he has. Reminiscent shots flash bringing him back to a
happier place just before he takes his life, ending him on a high.
Performance
The actor at the beginning we want to be acting confident and happy with where
he’s at, a sign of not worrying with what’s going to happen. Later on in the video
when the urban environment is in place the actor will be acting frail and nervous
among the crowds of people as if he’s reverted back to being a child in this
completely different area. Towards the very end he is shown acting miserable
and dull.
Lighting
Suburban – light tone, colours brought out more
Urban/city – darker tone set at night, street lights setting most of the light. Giving
it a dull and dark tone.
