This document contains information about different types of advertising mediums including graphic design, radio production, and video game production. For graphic design, advantages include creating high quality, customized advertisements. Disadvantages are that the medium can be difficult to learn and time consuming. For radio production, advantages are ease of use and ability to precisely edit sound. Disadvantages include time needed for precision and difficulty working across computers. For video games, advantages are creativity and use of layers, while disadvantages are time needed for detailed games and limited movement. The document evaluates strengths and weaknesses of example advertisements in each medium.
3. Graphic Design Production
• Advantages of working in this medium
– You can get a very high quality, detailed adverts that you can’t get
anywhere else that will be appealing to customers.
– There are many different tools so you can customise your advert as
much as you want so no advert will be the same.
• Disadvantages of working in this medium
- it is quite hard to get the hang of.
- it is quite time consuming.
4. Graphic Design Production
Similarities
• Both coca cola
posters have the
red background
which in
associated with
coca cola.
• Both posters have
the image of a
bottle of coke so
the customer
knows what
they’re getting or
what the actual
product looks like.
• Both have the
famous coca cola
font.
Differences
• On the actual poster
there is a close up of the
actual bottle, where as
there are two small
bottles.
• In mine there are darker
colours to give a sense of
power as in if you drink
this you will feel
powerful and full of
energy. Where as in the
actual poster the colours
are lighter giving a sense
of happiness.
5. Graphic Design ProductionStrength: the coca
cola title is big and
bold which is good, as
it will stand out and
the customer, for the
title I used the magic
wand to get rid of the
background then used
bevel & emboss and
put the depth size to
32px
Strength: the coca cola logo
right in the centre where it
is very bright which makes it
stand out
Weakness: the coca
cola bottle is quite
small and doesn’t
really fit in with the
poster. I used the
polygon lasso to get rid
of the background
because the coca cola
bottle had a white
background so I could
use the magic wand.
Strength: a big polar bear in
striking motions which gives a
sense of power which attracts
the customer. I put a shadow
on my polar bear to enhance
its size and dominance, I also
used the magic wand to get
rid of the background.
6. Graphic Design Production 2
I used the blur tool to
mix the red and black
together to make it
look like flames and it
merged it together.
Improved coca cola poster
The coca cola writing
is in the centre a the
top so that the
customers eyes are
not immediately
drawn to the writing
but rather the coca
cola logo in the
middle
The slogan is opacity 62% so
that not all the attention is
on the slogan because you
want the attention to be on
the actual poster. It is still
visible so that people can
still see it and remember it
The coca cola logo is
directly in the centre
and the brightest
image on the poster to
show its dominance
and status also it
shows that
A black background so that the
images on top of the
background stand out more
7. Radio Production
• Advantages of working in this medium
– You can easily mix sound together to create scenarios and stories.
– Its very easy to use and doesn’t take long to create your advert.
– You can import your own recordings as well as getting sound effects so you have a
good variety to create with.
– You can cut out anything you don’t want to it is precise and unique
• Disadvantages of working in this medium
-- it can get quite annoying because you have to make everything precise and it is
very time consuming
-- it is quite complicating to save and work gets lost easily
-- you have to download sound effects off the internet every time you log on to a
different computer which is a waist of time
8. Radio Production
• Taste the feeling is a similarity because they’re in the normal coca cola advert and also in
mine.
• My advert is similar to the snickers advert because both characters are tired then have the
product and feel replenished and revived
• My advert is different to normal coca cola adverts because it has an actual story line rather
than just explaining the product.
• My advert is different because it is a lot longer so the listener can get more information
9. Radio Production
• I would make my advert shorter because the listener might
get bored by how long the advert is
• I think all my sound effects work well with the dialogue
because as soon as he drinks the coke the taste the feeling
song comes on and it goes from dull to vibrant just because
he drank the coke which shows that if you drink it everything
gets better.
• I think it is good because everything is simple and clear to
follow so anyone will be able to understand it.
11. Video Game Production
• Advantages of working in this medium
– It is very easy because you don’t have to spend time filling in details because
its only a short amount of pixels
– Its good because you can do anything you want so you can be very creative
and make it unique
– There are many layers so you can make a good game that will be good for the
viewers
• Disadvantages of working in this medium
– You have to edit each and every layer and if you're making a big game that will
take a long time to create
– It is very stick movement so it doesn’t look realistic.
12. Video Game Production
• Farmville is much more detailed than mine and there is a lot more free moving
characters than mine
• A similarity is that you are controlling one character.
• The difference between my advergame and the professional one is that the point
scoring is different on Farmville you score experience points and on mine you score
goals.
13. Video Game Production
I don’t have
many frames
so it isn’t very
long and it is
quite stop
and start
when its
moving.
The background is
very basic but I
faded the bottom
of the goal so it
looks more
realistic and the
clouds so they
don’t look like
blocks.
I have many
layers so I can
move almost
everything on
the screen at
different
times and
move them in
different
places.
I used bright
colours so that it
grabs the
viewers
attention and
attract kids.
14. Comparison
• Which product do you believe advertises the
product the best? Why?
-I think the poster side of advertisement was the best because it was to a higher
quality than the advergame and radio
- I also think that it is easier to take in information and you can actually see an
image of the product
• Which of your products is the most
professional? Why?
- I think that posters are again because they can be put anywhere for people to
see and you can put the posters in certain places so that certain people will see the
poster (in a park so children will see)
- I think that my poster is professional because it has the qualities of poster
