Working Title:
Our House College Music Video
Audience:
The video is set to interest a wider audience, with children and teenagers having an interest in the
random visuals like stop-motion to keep them entertained while adults can enjoy the song’s
general relatability, with everyday occurrences happening within the house while hopefully still
enjoying the overall look of the video. As a social status, I suppose it would be he class most
linked to my own as I will be using my own home as a place to convey some of the lyrics in the
song. I think that would be around the Middle Class (C to A) but might still appal to classes above
and below in an open sense. I think the video could be liked by both genders as the song itself
mentions them both in a comedic fashion which could create some amusement.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Through both my Irn-Bru advertisement project and my Horror audio project, I have learned how to
use Premiere to edit my visual and sound products together to make a more refined final piece.
This will help me when it comes to editing my Music Video together as I already understand the
basics of the programme. In earlier weeks, I also learned how to make transitions that will help
making the video more interesting. Another skill I have learned from my advertisement project is
that taking numerous shots of a single scene, and from different angles, could give me more
options to what would work best and perhaps blend then together to create a more dynamic
movement.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept of my project is going for an eccentric style to match the bombastic music by using
different visual methods like stop-motion and making quick cuts during parts of the song. Different
transitions will add to the fast pace I intend for the video to take, matching the quick beat of the
audio. The basic idea flits between the lyrics of the song being matched by small segments of
acting by my family and stop-motion with the brisk cuts primarily used during the musical intervals.
The narrative would follow the description given by the lyrics, with my family as (hopefully) willing
participants and the parts of the lyrics that would be easier to produce in a more creative way, I
feel that stop-motion could help a lot. The stop-motion would also help in making the visuals more
interesting to the audience, adding a notable charm to the video. The swift cuts between film and
image would move according to the beat of the song, mostly within the musical intermission to fill
in areas that would be difficult to purely act for. However, I think there are potential lines in the
song that could be co-ordinated with these accelerated cuts. To help educate me in the creation of
different transitions, I will research the steps that going into making a decent product for the video
as well as adapt certain techniques used in other official music videos that I believe would be
beneficial within the final product.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
Certain types of transitions, like a tracking mask, require the use of a tutorial to be done
competently so that it can look smooth in the final product. I will also need to have more pre-editing
type of camerawork in mind. What I mean by this is understanding how each shot will be played
out when put together in Premiere instead of how good the shot is by itself. Speaking of the
camera, I will need to work on the placement of it for the image and how to navigate the camera
whilst it is attached to the tripod for steady shots. Furthermore, on editing, I’ll have to adapt the
visuals with the music in mind. For instance, cutting between shots long with the beat of the song
would create a stronger connection between the visual and audible parts of the video.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate my work on how well I incorporate the techniques and particular styles I was
intending to use so the video has a decent visual flare. I will also plan to evaluate how the video
matches the song and if they flow neatly together. I will be judging the final product with
consideration of how I led it to the end and therefore, how that would affect the result. I have
already begun this process with my updates using Blogger, to describe my thoughts and feelings
about the project at a particular time ad how that impacts my confidence for the final work.
