Working Title: Iron Heart
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience:
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
Age: 15-24 (teenagers) I have targeted the music video towards teenagers and young adults since
drum and bass music is a music that is usually listened to at festivals and parties that young
people attend. It is also used as pump up music to get people excited before doing sports like
basketball and a lot of young people take part in sports. The music video is set in an arcade which
will appeal to this age group since video games are mainly targeted towards and played by young
people. Also everyone in the video is around 16 years old so my video may appeal to people of
this age.
Gender: Although this music genre could appeal to any gender, my target audience would
probably be men since all the actors used in the video are male and hobbies such as video games
and playing pool are stereotypically male things to enjoy.
Social status: working class. Most of the people that listen to this genre of music are working class
but any social statues could listen to this however if they are interested in this genre of music.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Review your progress throughout the year- what skills and knowledge have you acquired?
How has the subjects you have studied this year informed your choice for this project?
What have you studied and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
I have definitely increased in knowledge in using photoshop. I had never used photoshop until I
started this course but now I know how to use it pretty well. This helps me in my project since I
needed to use photoshop to create something for one of my experiments.
The subjects I have studied this year have had an impact on this project. Earlier this year we made
an Irn-Bru advert and we used adobe premiere to edit it and put it together. I hadn’t previously
used premiere but I will now use it to edit my final music video.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project?
The concept for my project is to make a music video for a song of my choice.
The song I chose is called Iron Heart, by Belgian artist Netsky. I am going to make a first person
music video using a gopro camera featuring me and my friends at the local bowling alley/arcade.
We will be playing arcade games there, playing pool, doing bowling etc. I liked the idea of filming a
first person video as it makes the person watching the video feel like they are the person in the
video.
Research I will need to conduct:
I will need to research music videos. This helps me find techniques and styles that I like and could
inspire me to use them in my music video.
I will also need to research locations I can use. I know that the place I am going to film at is Tenpin

bowling at Clifton Moor, but if for whatever reason I am unable to use that location then I would
need to find out some backup locations.
I will need to research how to use a gopro. I haven't used one before but I can find out how
through the internet.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
What specialist techniques do you need to consider? (e.g. green screen, Steadicam, post-
production, sound, etc)
Does this require any specialist equipment/training/demos?
I will need to consider using a Gopro to film my video. This is because I want my video recorded in
a first person view and a Gopro is the easiest way to do this. I have tried filming first person with a
regular camera or a phone camera but the video is usually shaky and I can only use one hand
since I am holding the camera with another hand. A Gopro can be worn on your head so you can
film hands free.
Sound- I will need to edit the sound for the video in Adobe Premiere. I want to be able to hear the
background sound of the arcade and the bowling alley but I don’t want it to be too loud so you
can’t hear the song playing. This may require some demos through the internet or help through a
tutor but shouldn't be too hard.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your final
self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.
I plan to evaluate my work through my reflection in the pro formas.
I will also evaluate my work through my evaluation pro forma. In here I will talk about the things I
think I have done well in my work and the things I think I could improve on.
