I have got this picture because if
I do a design a t-shirt off a film
then this is a good example for
one because it’s a storm trooper
and a lot of people know what
storm troopers are from the star
wars films
With the design on the shirt it
doesn't’t have the full image of the
storm troopers helmet and its just
the facial features of the helmet
and with that you can just add it to
a white t-shirt and it looks like the
storm troopers helmet its self.
With this the colours are
basic with black and white. I
think the t-shirt look good
with the colours with the
basic black and white and
when star wars fans look at
the t-shirt they will know
that it’s a storm trooper
with the iconic face of the
two eyes, the slit of the
nose and the moth peace
and they are all blacked out
so it makes it stand out with
the white background
The primary audience would
be 16-20 and the secondary
would be 21+. The genre for
this t-shirt would be sci-fi due
to what films the character Is
from
The connotations for this t-
shirt would be that for black
would be evil and the colour
white would be hope and
through out the films there is
hope and evil
3. Existing Product
With this poster its just one game
which is star wars battlefront 2 but
some other posters might have other
games on them made by the same
company or an older version of the
game like star wars battle front 2
With the first battlefront poster it was
kind of boring with the colours because
it was mostly just white, grey and red
where as in this one its got more
colours on it such as blue, grey, black,
orange, brown, red and white. And the
connotations for this could be that with
the blue could represent hope and the
good side and the red could mean
danger and evil. And with the colour
black might be something that people
might be unsure about like space were
not sure what's out there.
The connotations for this would be for
the colours black and red would be evil
because the evil side have red weapons
and where mostly dark clothing and
blue and orange would be hope
because the weapons for the good side
are blue and the clothing and vehicles
With this poster a lot of the
game is based in space so a
lot of the colours will be
dark and if they were white
such as then it would not fit
the theme of star wars but
only if it was something else
such as a character or a
vehicle.
The gender for this is male
because more males are
into sci-fi and that means
that more males would
want to play the start wars
games and it would intrigue
more males to play the star
wars games.
The primary audience for this
product would be 18-24
And the secondary would be
25+
And the genre for this game
would be sci-fi
4. Existing Product
With this poster i think its laid out well
because there is so many characters in
the film it would be hard to fit all on and
still make it look good and with my
magazine I don’t want to put too much
on the front because then it will look too
full and might make it look less like a
magazine
With the colours I think that they all
go well together with the orange,
blue and the colour of the villain
who is purple and the designs and
colours of the outfits of the other
characters what wold be red, blue,
black, green.
The connotations for this poster
could be that the colour purple and
in this film represents evil and
destruction. And the colours black,
blue, red and green mean hope in
this film because three of the
characters are green and the outfits
of the others are black, blue and red
and they also mean hope and not
evil
With the title of the film it stands out at
the bottom of the poster and the bottom
of the poster has dark colours and the
title for the poster is a bright orange so it
stands outs and it makes it easy to see
and people might know what the film is
just from looking at the characters on the
poster.
With the characters on
the poster it shows the
main ones in the middles
such as iron man and the
villain Thanos they stand
out more because they
have more of a role in the
film more then others so
its would go main
characters in the middle
and then characters on
the outside they might
not have much of a role
in the film
The genre for this film would be sci-fi
and the target audience would be 13-
18 primary and the secondary would
be 19+
5. Existing Product
With this poster its
pre 1990- as you
might be able to
tell because of the
design and maybe
because of the
games that are on
the magazine like
aliens there's only
been one or a few
games like that
one that have been
released
With the colours on
the magazines they
are mostly plain
colours like blue, red
and orange. The
connotations for the
colour orange could
mean destruction
and fighting. And the
colour red could
mean danger with
like a warning light
saying something is
wrong. And the
connotations for the
colour blue it could
mean space or safety
and peace.
The title for the games stand out because the
magazine on the left has a lot of dark colours so any
coloured title could stand out on that magazine and
it also fits the colour scheme well been yellow and
with the title on the magazine on the left I don’t
think it fits well in the magazine because most of the
colours are black, white, orange and red and with the
green title I don’t think it fits and just looks out of
place with all the other colours
The genre for this magazine
would be sci-fi because the
game aliens is sci-fi and the
most of the things in sci-fi
isn’t real such as aliens off
the game aliens and the
audience would be 18-20
primary and the secondary
would be 21+

wanted to see very little to not give much away
• What this says about my audience: that they want to see a part of the game rather then not
knowing much about the game or knowing very little about the image/game
• How will your product appeal to this audience: this will appeal to the audience because I now know
what to put on the poster and how much I want to give away and how much to keep seceret
12. Audience research
• Observation: this shows that more people would want to see top 10 and reviews had some votes but not as much
as the top 10 so I if I make a magazine that would be first and then the reviews and then the sequels and prequels
but with this question I should of made so you can tick more then one box.
– 82% would want to see top 10, 19% would want to see reviews 0% would want to see list of the songs and 9% would want to see
sequels or prequels
• What this says about my audience: that they want to see top 10 more then the other ones that was available to
choose from so its going to be first and then the other ideas in the magazine
• How will your product appeal to this audience: this shows that they like one of the things more then anything else
so top 10 is the most popular
13. Audience research
• Observation: this shows that the audience wants a game of the front of the magazine maybe the most wanted
game of the year instead of multiple games
– 62% would want to see a game on the front of my gaming magazine, 19% would want to see multiple games and 19% would
want to see old, current and new games on the front of the magazine
• What this says about my audience: that they would rather see a gam on the front of a magazine then multiple
games or older games, current games and future games
• How will your product appeal to this audience: this will appeal to the audience because they want a game on the
front of a magazine so that’s what I will do.
14. Audience research
• Observation: this shows that the audience mostly play ps4, Xbox and then pc so I might do one for
each the poster for ps4 Xbox for the magazine and then the pc can be the t-shirt
– 19% would want to see the poster magazine and clothing about pc 36% for xbox and 45% for ps4
• What this says about my audience: this says that ps4 is the more popular console, xbox and then pc
so the main product will for the ps4
• How will your product appeal to this audience: this will appeal because the ps4 is the more popular
console in my survey so that’s the console for the main product and then other two console will be
for the magazine and t-shirt
15. Audience research
• Observation: this shows that portrait is the more popular by a large margin so portrait is the one
I'm going to choose
– 81% would want to see the poster be portrait 19% would want to see it landscape
• What this says about my audience: this show that they prefer portrait over landscape
• How will your product appeal to this audience: this appeals to the audience because if they chose
portrait over landscape this shows that they want portrait most so that’s the one I'm going to
choose

24. Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the strengths and
weaknesses of each method
– Product Research- the research that I have done is about games and a film they are star wars, star
wars battlefront 2, tom Clancy's rainbow six siege and avengers infinity war this was a strength
because I’ve got knowledge of these so I knew what to analyse about them one of them was a t-shirt
two of them a poster and the other one was a magazine. The weaknesses for this would be that I
already knew about the things that I researched so I could of researched something else and then
done something else instead of the things that I officially researched
– Questionnaires- I did the questionnaires on survey monkey and the questions what I asked were like
what image would you like on a t-shirt small or big? And the colours of it and black was the most
voted then white. Another question was what would you want to see in a magazine and the most
voted was top 10 so that is the one I'm going to add first and then then second most voted etc. the
strengths for this would be that its easy to make and send out. The weaknesses would be that you
could only send it to 10 people so you would only get a few responses rather if you did 20 you would
of got more and the results would have been different
– Interviews- this interviews what I did, I asked what they would want to so see on the cover of a
magazine and one wanted a unique game so then people would want to see that rather then a game
what come out every year. The strengths for this would be that you can get peoples opinion on their
thoughts on what they want to see on magazines etc. the weaknesses would be that you could only
do it for 3 people so the results will be a lot different but if there was more people you would of got
a lot more results and maybe some what are similar
25. Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
The responses what I got were mostly one of the answers so it was one sided its
not really mixed so this shows that the audience wants the same thing or prefer
one thing over all the others.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
I distributed my surveys through email and york college black board so other
people on the course can click on the link and then it would take you to survey
monkey then you can complete the survey and then ill get the results back so
that’s a advantage because its easy to use and set up and distribute
but the disadvantages are you could only do ten questions. And you have to get
the link to be able to do the survey you cant just do it randomly so only certain
people can do it.
