Plug – This is indicating a
preview to a new game,
attracting the audience’s
attention by putting a big
green sticker at the top
of the page.
Main image – this shows the
main thing to entice you into
buying the magazine, as it fills
the whole cover. The background
made for the character shown is
to make him unknown,
mysterious as we don’t yet know
his identity. Since this is a new
game a image like this will entice
gamers who like the franchise to
buy. The text underneath is
linked to the main image as the
color's connate with each other.
Sub heading – this is the
secondary story to the
main image as in
magazine the more
important stories are in
the biggest font, so by
going in size order the
sub heading is the next
thing for the audience to
gaze at. It also attracts
the audience to read a
extra feature and for
them to buy.
Layout - The layout of
this cover Is very dark
and mysterious and
doesn’t actually really
attract the audience’s
attention with color,
but what does is the
huge man standing
with a big gun which is
unusual for a magazine
to be like.
Sub heading – this is another sub heading to the main
image like the other one but much smaller implying that
you should really read the other one first as its bigger.
This sub heading tells you what else is included into the
magazine which peaks interest into the reader.
Product icon – This shows that
the product has advertised its
logo and tells the buyer/reader
what console the magazine is for.
It also lets the buyer know that
the magazine is official and that
it isn’t fake.
Existing Product
Main image – this shows the most
important piece of the magazine as
much like the previous magazine it
stands out the most out of everything
from the poster. Much like the first
poster the cover art is quite dark and
black but in this case its because it’s
the color of the character and how he
is presented as. We can also see there
is text beneath it meaning that this is
part of the main image we know this
as the colors are similar to that of the
batman colors. If you look closer you
can also see some more detail getting
the reader to look closer, to be
interested.
Plug – this interests the audience by
them seeing a big green sticker on the
page, they wonder what is on it, and
look closer. Another thing that it does do
is draw the eyes of the audience to that
certain place of the page.
Product icon – this shows
that the magazine is
official and is shown to be
a legitimate and real
advertiser of the Xbox
company. It also shows
that the company are
showing there Xbox
brand off.
Sub- heading – this particular
sub heading includes
information in the same
color as the rest of the
magazine to make the main
image stand out more, but its
other purpose is for you to
look and read what it states
and be exciting about
something coming back. Its
exciting but what its trying to
emphasize is, this is exciting
news but the main image is
more interesting.
Barcode – this shows the barcode of
the magazine showing that much like
the product icon, it shows its
authenticity.
Headline – this headline is really
interesting as its imprinted very
firmly on batman’s chest implying
to the reader who perhaps didn’t
know who batman was, that, that
is batman and we cans see that by
the colors both being that of the
same with each other.
Date – The date obviously indicates the time of
when the issue was made. Like the barcode and
the product icon it indicates authencity.
Existing ProductProduct icon – This shows the
authenticity of the product
with the official Xbox logo
being shown. It also shows
that the magazine is actually
Xbox instead of someone
copying them.
Date - This shows the date
of when the issue came out
and like the product icon it
shows how legit the
magazine is.
Main image – This is the main
front for the magazine as its
what the audience first look at
when they see the magazine.
This particular main image is
interesting as its brighter than
the others I have researched,
if you look to the background
you see a more scenic,
cinematic background then
the others, a lot brighter one
as well. This one in particular
is effective as the how cover
art matches that of the rest of
the magazine, which is cool
Sub- heading – This particular sub
heading is effective as the font gets
smaller as you read on. Meaning for
your eyes to get attached to it
straight away but get forced to read
on as you lean closer to read the
writing. This is a cool trick as it
interests the viewer of the magazine
more than leaving the size of the
writing the same as the rest of the
writing on the page.
Plug – This is another type of selling the
magazine to the public but this time its
being shown through a big bright red
sticker to entice the audience directly to
it. In fact on this one the plug could
actually overthrow the main image on it
standing out from the rest of other things.
Headline – This is clearly attached to the main image as the font and the
colours clearly match that of the picture of the man. This is effective to use a
big headline as that interests more people as soon as they glance at the
magazine they are drawn towards it cause its so big. This headline is also
really interesting as it states the words ‘’world exclusive’’ above it implying
that this magazine is the first to have actually important details on it, which
is a certain big way to get/entice someone into buying this magazine.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have?
• The common features that the researched products have is they all are gaming magazines and all are Xbox themed
magazines as that is my personally preferred console. Another common feature is that they all include a plug in the
magazine cover to entice the audience. The Xbox logo was always seen In my research products as this was the magazine I
want to do. Another common feature was they all each had a barcode present in the magazine to symbolise that they were
a authentic product and that it wasn’t fake. Another common feature is they all contained at least one if not more sub
headings. Which is good as the more and more information shown on the magazine the more people are going to buy the
magazines. Another common feature was that they all have a cinematic background that reference to the character standing
at the front of the magazine, which just adds more interest and intrigue to the magazine. They also included the date of
which the issue was sent out to everyone and obviously published, much like the Xbox logo this symbolises the authenticity
of the magazine, as its actually telling you when the magazine was made.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
• The aspects of my research that will be included will be a lot, as really a lot of what I have researched has really assisted with
the progression of what I want to include in my final product. One of the main things I will be including though, will b the
Xbox logo at the top of the page, the barcode at the bottom left of the screen and the little sub – headings. As for me these
are the most important features of a magazine to have. Obviously the main image and a headline as well but I will be making
and deciding on them myself.
Audience
Audience Profile
Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience
Age Range
The age range is between
16-18 year olds, as the
content included is quite
mature.
• The content that will appeal to this audience of 16 – 18 year olds
as that is the highest age bracket for gamers to be to play very
violent games.
• Another appeal is that if I put the bracket any lower then the
people viewing the magazine wouldn’t be able to buy the game as
they were too young, so it would be harsh in doing so.
Gender
The gender I would mainly
point this towards would be
males as most of these
games are more for the
male audience than female.
• It will include male gamer things and more male originated games
like for long time fans of games since the old consoles.
• Most of the games will be of the 16+ and the 18+ category so that
will excite more older males to come view and realize it’s a more
exclusive magazine.
Psychographic
I am aiming for the
balanced category of the
psychographic chart as that
I think we best suit my
magazine.
• The content will appeal because I feel as this category will fit my
magazine the best out of the other ones that are shown.
Social Status
The social status I will be
aiming for is all social
status’s as I don’t think I’ve
included any offensive
information for any classes
• The content will appeal to this audience because everyone will be
able to read the magazine and no offense will be taken to any
party viewing the magazine.

If you look closer you can also see some more detail getting the reader to look closer, to be interested. Plug – this interests the audience by them seeing a big green sticker on the page, they wonder what is on it, and look closer. Another thing that it does do is draw the eyes of the audience to that certain place of the page. Product icon – this shows that the magazine is official and is shown to be a legitimate and real advertiser of the Xbox company. It also shows that the company are showing there Xbox brand off. Sub- heading – this particular sub heading includes information in the same color as the rest of the magazine to make the main image stand out more, but its other purpose is for you to look and read what it states and be exciting about something coming back. Its exciting but what its trying to emphasize is, this is exciting news but the main image is more interesting. Barcode – this shows the barcode of the magazine showing that much like the product icon, it shows its authenticity. Headline – this headline is really interesting as its imprinted very firmly on batman’s chest implying to the reader who perhaps didn’t know who batman was, that, that is batman and we cans see that by the colors both being that of the same with each other. Date – The date obviously indicates the time of when the issue was made. Like the barcode and the product icon it indicates authencity.
  • 4. Existing ProductProduct icon – This shows the authenticity of the product with the official Xbox logo being shown. It also shows that the magazine is actually Xbox instead of someone copying them. Date - This shows the date of when the issue came out and like the product icon it shows how legit the magazine is. Main image – This is the main front for the magazine as its what the audience first look at when they see the magazine. This particular main image is interesting as its brighter than the others I have researched, if you look to the background you see a more scenic, cinematic background then the others, a lot brighter one as well. This one in particular is effective as the how cover art matches that of the rest of the magazine, which is cool Sub- heading – This particular sub heading is effective as the font gets smaller as you read on. Meaning for your eyes to get attached to it straight away but get forced to read on as you lean closer to read the writing. This is a cool trick as it interests the viewer of the magazine more than leaving the size of the writing the same as the rest of the writing on the page. Plug – This is another type of selling the magazine to the public but this time its being shown through a big bright red sticker to entice the audience directly to it. In fact on this one the plug could actually overthrow the main image on it standing out from the rest of other things. Headline – This is clearly attached to the main image as the font and the colours clearly match that of the picture of the man. This is effective to use a big headline as that interests more people as soon as they glance at the magazine they are drawn towards it cause its so big. This headline is also really interesting as it states the words ‘’world exclusive’’ above it implying that this magazine is the first to have actually important details on it, which is a certain big way to get/entice someone into buying this magazine.
  • 5. Research Analysis • What common features do the researched products have? • The common features that the researched products have is they all are gaming magazines and all are Xbox themed magazines as that is my personally preferred console. Another common feature is that they all include a plug in the magazine cover to entice the audience. The Xbox logo was always seen In my research products as this was the magazine I want to do. Another common feature was they all each had a barcode present in the magazine to symbolise that they were a authentic product and that it wasn’t fake. Another common feature is they all contained at least one if not more sub headings. Which is good as the more and more information shown on the magazine the more people are going to buy the magazines. Another common feature was that they all have a cinematic background that reference to the character standing at the front of the magazine, which just adds more interest and intrigue to the magazine. They also included the date of which the issue was sent out to everyone and obviously published, much like the Xbox logo this symbolises the authenticity of the magazine, as its actually telling you when the magazine was made. • What aspects of the research will you include within your on work? • The aspects of my research that will be included will be a lot, as really a lot of what I have researched has really assisted with the progression of what I want to include in my final product. One of the main things I will be including though, will b the Xbox logo at the top of the page, the barcode at the bottom left of the screen and the little sub – headings. As for me these are the most important features of a magazine to have. Obviously the main image and a headline as well but I will be making and deciding on them myself.
  • 7. Audience Profile Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience Age Range The age range is between 16-18 year olds, as the content included is quite mature. • The content that will appeal to this audience of 16 – 18 year olds as that is the highest age bracket for gamers to be to play very violent games. • Another appeal is that if I put the bracket any lower then the people viewing the magazine wouldn’t be able to buy the game as they were too young, so it would be harsh in doing so. Gender The gender I would mainly point this towards would be males as most of these games are more for the male audience than female. • It will include male gamer things and more male originated games like for long time fans of games since the old consoles. • Most of the games will be of the 16+ and the 18+ category so that will excite more older males to come view and realize it’s a more exclusive magazine. Psychographic I am aiming for the balanced category of the psychographic chart as that I think we best suit my magazine. • The content will appeal because I feel as this category will fit my magazine the best out of the other ones that are shown. Social Status The social status I will be aiming for is all social status’s as I don’t think I’ve included any offensive information for any classes • The content will appeal to this audience because everyone will be able to read the magazine and no offense will be taken to any party viewing the magazine.
