3. What is light?
. Light is just one form of electromagnetic radiation,
or electromagnetic waves. These waves are all
around us and come in many wavelengths. Through
our workshop in Albairaq we learned the
characteristics of light such us light, spectrum ,
diffraction, interference and so on…
INTRODUCTION
4. ACTIVITY 1:
LIGHT AND THEIR SPECTRUM
• objective:
• to observe the light spectrum of different sources
of light sources.
• Procedure:
5. ACTIVITY 1:
LIGHT AND THEIR SPECTRUM
• Observation :
• fluorescent light showed a discrete spectrum, while lights as
incandescent light showed a continuous spectrum.
LED Light Fluorescent light
6. ACTIVITY 2:
OBSERVING DIFFRACTION
PART A: DIFFRACTION IN WATER WAVE
• Objective :
• observing diffraction of water waves as they pass
through a slit.
• Procedure:
• The diffraction was clear when the slit size was small. As the slit size
increased, diffraction could not be seen clearly or even seen at all.
7. ACTIVITY 2:
OBSERVING DIFFRACTION
PART B: DIFFRACTION SIMULATION
• Objective:
• observing the diffraction of light through a single slit
using simulator.
• The best visible diffraction is when the size of the slit
is smaller than or equal to half the wavelength of light
8. ACTIVITY 2:
OBSERVING DIFFRACTION
PART C: DIFFRACTION OF LIGHT THROUGH
AN OPENING
• Objective:
• observing light diffraction as the light waves pass through
a small hole.
9. ACTIVITY 3: OBSERVING INTERFERENCE
PART A: MAKING INTERFERENCE
TRANSPARENT
• Objective:
• to observe constructive and destructive interference
as well as nodes and antinodes.
10. ACTIVITY 3: OBSERVING INTERFERENCE
PART B: TWO SLITS EXPERIMENT
• Objective:
• observing interference of light rays as they pass through 2 slits.
• Waves emerging from the two slits interfere. Resulting in areas of
darkness and areas of bright light.
11. ACTIVITY 4: OBSERVING IRIDESCENCE
• Objectives:
• To observe how iridescence takes places in objects like bubble soap,
nail polish and peacock feather.
- Iridescence is mainly due the structural feature of the object which affects the
final color. It can also be due to Thin film interference
12. POWER RAYS!
• Nowadays , we consume electricity more than ever
before. We thought of an idea to use what we have learnt
about light and its characteristics in creating a new way to
light up a hallway using the minimal number of bulbs
possible.
13. MATERIALS AND METHOD
• Reflecting object: Mirror
• Cardboard and boxes: To mimic a hallway
• Electricity circuits and LED light.
•
14. MATERIALS AND METHODS
• Our project consists of placing
our mirrors in a certain angle
so that all the light reaches the
box in all directions. we are
going to be using LED light
bulbs because they unlike
incandescent light, they save
energy and produce less heat.
We will be showing you two
models, one will have enough
bulbs to light the box and the
other will have only one light
bulb but the whole box will be
lit.
15. RESULTS
• We successfully used less number
of LED light bulbs and electricity
circuit to light up the whole
hallway effectively.
16. CONCLUSION
Al-bairaq has given us wings to fly and the
opportunity to light our own way to success!!
And made us focus the stage lights on
important keys so by that we can draw a
conclusion.
Our conclusion is that we can use light
characteristics and reflecting objects to
reduce energy consumption.
17. WE CAN USE IT..
• 1. constructions that Qatar built for 2022.
• 2. Hospitals Hallways
• 3. Companies,
• And many places ,….
