Project Manager With Hospital Corporation Of America
My desire to earn an MBA degree grew from my job as project manager with Hospital Corporation of
America. In this position, I worked on implementation and optimization projects and managed teams
instrumental in creating policies and budgets for hospitals within the company. After my first
implementation project, I became passionate about the huge role I played in advancing healthcare
practices in the company. My job afforded me opportunities to set up my own project, create the
milestones and scope principles, and manage my own team. My experience with managing daily
activities on such large projects, while working with executive and senior leadership teams equipped
me with an array of knowledge and experience on how to manage healthcare projects.
These projects helped with my leadership and management skills with corporate and hospital
employees. However, I felt I lacked the education in organizational and business practices needed to
further understand the business process, flow, and principles of managing a company. I sensed I was
missing a piece of the puzzle that would help me completely understand all the necessary components
to effectively navigate as a healthcare professional. My constant battle between experience and
knowledge led to the conclusion that furthering my education would be best. Enrolling as an MBA
student provided me with the educational tools needed to determine the right methods to use in
making high level decisions. My initial MBA coursework gave

Having Sealant Applied To Your Child s Teeth Essay
What You Should Know About Having Sealant Applied To Your Child s Teeth
It s important to teach your child good dental hygiene habits starting when the baby teeth first erupt.
Establishing a pattern of regular dental visits and daily brushing will help protect your child s teeth for
life. However, it may be difficult for your child to always brush effectively. That s where dental
sealants come in. They help reduce the risk of developing cavities. The procedure is easy to endure,
and it s certainly much less stressful and less expensive than getting a filling. Here s what you should
know about this dental procedure.
Dental Sealants Fill Pits
The pits and grooves of your child s teeth are breeding grounds for bacteria because food gets stuck in
them easily. If your child is not able to brush vigorously, the food may not get removed. Even if your
child brushes very well, the bristles on the toothbrush may be to large to get down into the very small
pits. A dental sealant is a type of liquid plastic the dentist applies to a tooth. It flows into all the
grooves and pits, and then hardens. This makes the surface of the tooth smoother and less likely to
trap food that feeds bacteria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, it is common to wait for the first set of molars to fully erupt before considering dental
sealants. The decision is on a tooth by tooth basis. Your child s dentist examines each tooth after it
emerges through the gum. It s possible the dentist will recommend sealing a baby tooth or a front
tooth. It all depends on the shape and condition of your child s teeth.
Another reason your dentist may wait to apply sealant until the molars come in is because by then
your child is old enough to cooperate with the procedure. While it isn t painful, some cooperation is
necessary since the tooth has to stay dry or the sealant won t adhere

Disadvantages Of Communication
Case Study 2 Different type of message should be conveyed by using different strategies. There are
three main categories for communication method depending on its content (Communication
Strategies, 2017).
Type 1: Mass communication
Mass communication is the method of conveying message using online resource such as email,
newspaper and memos. It is considered as a cost effective medium since it allows all the participate to
receive the information with least cost. However, the disadvantages of this method are it is not
personal as the employee might ignore the message to get the information. There is no feedback for
the implementation of the method.
Type 2: Interactive Communication
This method requires feedback from the reader for interaction purpose. For example, the mediums for
interactive communication are email for Q A pages, online chats and online discussion. Employees
can ask questions using anonymous identity and this facilitates a two way communication where both
parties can receive the information needed. The few disadvantages are it is very time consuming and
ineffective to spread the information as the first method.
Type 3: Face to face communication
Face to face communication such as meetings, training session and forum allows the employees to
receive valuable information directly from in charge person such as managers. Similar to type 2, it is
also very time consuming and ineffective to spread the news to a large population in a shorter time and
lowest cost.
A communication strategy is developed as below to ensure that all staff work as a team towards
achieving goals organisational objectives.
1. Get all the employee involved by holding meeting and conducting annual employee survey.
2. Make employee updated by sending weekly email on company progress to each of them.
3. Keep the message to be transferred simple such as company notice and management arrangement to
make it effective as all the staff can easily understand and work towards it
4. Expose the complicated message to managers first then provide them with easy to implement
formats for bringing their teams together, with toolkits that include all the materials they ll need. This
can encourage their teams to develop

The Importance Of Revenge In Hamlet
Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder (Act I Scene V, Ghost). The Ghost is a messenger from
Hell that persuades a vulnerable Hamlet into doing evil acts against his family and those that appear
closest to him. In behavior alone, Hamlet s dramatic change in personality shows how the Ghost has
influenced him in an evil way. There are multiple examples throughout this entire play that displays a
dark cloud that follows Hamlet around. Unfortunately, these bad things just continue to happen to
Hamlet and around him. The Ghost poses as a helpful character, in the beginning, showing Hamlet
what really happened, but he actually just wanted to take revenge on the person who killed him.
The Ghost enters into the story in the figure of Hamlet s recently deceased father to Marcellus and
Bernardo, the two guards in the tower. They immediately report this sighting to Horatio to witness the
sighting of the Ghost. Horatio then is shocked because he sees the Ghost is wearing armor similar to
that of King Hamlet s, who had recently passed away. This makes Prince Hamlet aware of the sighting
as well. Hamlet then consequently goes to see the Ghost and follows him out past the castle walls. He
then proceeds to tell him that his uncle, who had just married Hamlet s mother, killed his father in his
sleep with poison and that he must seek revenge. Right from the beginning, the Ghost is implementing
horrible ideas into Hamlet s mind who is hurt by the passing of his father. He

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Sign Language
As most sign language users are untrained in reading notation systems there is need to presentoutput
of a translation in a Sign Language space. Morrissey (2008) and Othman and Jemni(2011) applied the
technique of translation into a writing notation in their systems. Two mainoptions have been made of
use in sign language synthesis. The first main method of sign language synthesis is to use concatenated
recordings of videos toproduce the sequence of gestures required. Recordings of a signer perfoming
gestures are storedand retrieved in some form of storage system. This approach has the advantage of
providingmore lifelike signing comparable to what one would experience in real life. Also the
likelihood oferrors is reduced by having a professional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chuang et al(2006) proposes a method that searchesthrough the collection of video clips and
calculates the most suitable transition betwwen thejoining sign clips. The method makes use of a non
uniform rational B spline approach for theclip selection. One fault in making use of this method is due
the need for a large database ofclips so as to come up with the best possible transition movements
between signs. Also theprocess involving the selection makes the overall system take a huge
perfomance hit. Solina etal(2001) proposes a system where each of the video clips in the database has
the same start andend position. in this case, it is suggested that the signer starts and ends the sign at the
sameposition at the with both arms on the chest of the signer s body. Thus in joining clips
togetherthere is no transition movement. The main drawback of this system being that the
resultantvideo would result in an unnatural siging sentence even though there is smmoth
transitionwithin the video. it also additionally a more advanced method applying computer vision
tochoose the most suitable transition between video clips. An alternative method to using recorded
video for sign synthesis is

The Impact of Ansel Adams
The Impact of Ansel Adams The evolution of photography, from the very beginning to the modern
technology we have today, is largely due to a few select specialists that took the matter into their own
hands. Many discoveries were made about photography during the late 1800 s and into the 1900 s, but
none greater than the discoveries of Ansel Adams. Ansel Adams made a huge impact on photography
because of his technological advances, environmental work, and how he won the hearts of many with
his beautiful works of art. Ansel Adams was a very talented photographer who captured beautiful
photographs from day one. He had many accomplishments in his lifetime such as creating the Zone
System, saving National Parks, working as an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Group will show no work at any time that does not conform to its standards of pure photography.
Pure photography is defined as possessing no qualities of technique, composition or idea, derivative of
any other art form. The production of the Pictorialist, on the other hand, indicates a devotion to
principles of art which are directly related to painting and the graphic arts. (Krehbiel) With this
manifest, the current group created rules so to speak that the Group f/64 was all about. Although its
content was surely ratified to some extent by the others, all or most of the one page statement was

the members moved away from San Francisco leaving the group completely. Adams is considered
still, today one of the major contributor to their success. (Alinder, 89) Ansel Adams, with the help of
his good friend Fred Archer, created a photographic technique called the Zone System. The tonal
contrast of the negative could be enhanced or diminished by different combinations of exposure and
development, a concept that would later become the basis of Ansel s framed Zone System (Alinder,
90). The Zone System is a technique for professional photographers to use for developing their

Sir Thomas More s Life
Sir Thomas More was born in London, England in February 7, 1477. He was the only son of John
Moore, a successful lawyer who eventually became a judge of the King s Bench, and Agnes Graunger.
During his youth he attended St. Anthony s School, which was London s best school, and was a page
for Archbishop John Morton. Eventually, Thomas More attended Oxford University and studied under
humanist scholars, Thomas Linacre and William Grocyn. While at Oxford, he wrote comedies, and
learned Greek and Latin, the latter of which is the language in which he wrote his most widely known
piece, Utopia. In 1494, More returned to London to study Law and in 1496, he was admitted into

Reproductivity Of The Art Of Art By Walter Benjamin
Walter Benjamin writes about the aura of works of art, and how reproductivity can affect the
authenticity of the artwork. Throughout his essay, he discusses the production of art, and how each
piece of art has a specific aura that separates it from any reproductions of it. Some arguments have
been made that reproductivity can degrade the authenticity of a work of art, while others have been
made that it spreads the influence a work of art. While both claims can be made, it is more valid that
the reproductivity of a work of art degrades its authenticity, and that the original art has an aura that
cannot be reproduced. Benjamin begins the essay by analyzing Marx s predictions of capitalism,
starting with the idea that according to Marx, What could be expected, it emerged, was not only an
increasingly harsh exploitation of the proletariat but, ultimately, the creation of conditions which
would make it possible for capitalism to abolish itself (Introduction, pg. 251). Benjamin responds,
however, claiming that fascism itself proves to be dysfunctional, because when considering the
creation of art, several concepts such as creativity, genius, and mystery are all neutralized. Next,
Benjamin describes the idea of authenticity, and how it connects to artwork. He describes it as the here
and now of the work of art its unique existence in a particular place. It is this unique existence and
nothing else that bears the mark of the history to which the work has been subject (Section II, pg.
253). This description of authenticity the idea that an original piece of art has this mark that makes it
unique in its existence is important when Benjamin discusses the aura of a work. This is because this
authenticity is a defining feature that cannot be ascribed to any reproduction. Benjamin then considers
technological reproduction, and how it is not ascribed this authority compared to hand made forgery.
He claims that the two reasons for this are as follows: Technological reproduction is not as connected
to the original artwork than is handmade reproduction, because, for example, a photograph brings out
different aspects of the work than the human eye, such as zoom and perspective. Second, a
technological

The Recession Of A Recession
Economical term recession means a significant decrease in activity across the economy, which last
longer than few months. This phenomenon is visible in employment, wholesale retail trade, and
others. The recession is considered a normal part of the business cycle. Nevertheless, a one time crisis
can trigger the onset of a recession. The global recession through 2007 to 2009 resulted in significant
breakdowns to practically all the developed and developing countries. In order to prevent a future
financial crisis, numerous government policies were enforced. A recession usually last 6 to 18 months
and interest rate fall to stimulate the economy. During a recession, people tend not to spend, borrow,
but to save money because of a fall in confidence. The government initiates an expansionary fiscal
policy which involves increasing stimulus government spending and cutting taxes. However, the
question is can increased stimulus spending help end the recession. The first article, Increased
Stimulus Spending Can Help End the Recession by Lawrence H. Summers, argues that for a
successful economic recovery, the US government must pursue measures that increase confidence,
borrowing, and spending (Summers 1). Summers alleges that the reason why recession keeps on is
because of lack of demand. An increase in spending to increase demand is the cure, even though too
much spending was part of a cause in recession. Summers defined a recession as:
Recessions are times when there is too

Who Is Joseph Conrad Uncivilized
Through contemplation of Joseph Conrad s complex descriptions and ideas of life in Africa, or the
heart of darkness, it can be established that he is, in fact, not racist. Conrad was simply expressing the
dark, uncivilized manners of the African people to contrast the light European hoi polloi and the unfair
dehumanization of slaves in his time period. The African people that Conrad viewed as uncivilized
could be considered an act of racism; however, it is also logical to believe that he was merely trying to
demonstrate the common, effete opinion among Europeans of this time frame. This would also explain
Conrad s complex framed narrative as he didn t want to be viewed as racist. His framed narrative
could demonstrate the confusion he had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was not racist, but it could be concluded that Conrad was generally not a fan of humanity; It was
very simple, and at the end of that moving appeal to every altruistic sentiment it blazed at you,
luminous and terrifying like a flash of lightning in a serene sky: Exterminate all the brutes! (Conrad
407). At the surface, this quote seems to be a cry for the brutes or Africans to be destroyed, yet it could
also be assumed that Conrad is absolutely tired of the darkness of mankind in general. Ellie Arielle
addresses this quotation, as well, by saying; Although Kurtz is implying that the people and the
situation in the Congo are in need of some considerable control and that the only solution he sees is
extermination, what Marlow realizes is that humanity is not the cause of the problem and that the
Africans are not the heart of darkness, but that greed and lust for economic freedom is. (Arielle) The
topic of economic freedom appears frequently throughout the novella especially with the arrival of the
ribald Eldorado Exploring Expedition. It is clear that the European men are oblivious to their
surroundings and only interested in money and this is another way for Conrad to show how humanity
has let him down. One critic explains that Heart of Darkness offers an, analysis

Gilded Age Dbq
The time period largely known as the Gilded Age was centered around big business which caused
sharp economic and social class divisions as well as political corruption that led Americans to
progressive reform. From the ashes of the Civil War, a second industrial revolution was born which
ushered in new innovations and technological advances that drastically changed American life. As a
result, business became powerful and controlling on the economy, created difficult working
conditions, and influenced politics through manipulation and corruption. Americans poured into the
country at a outstanding rate during the Gilded Age , creating a supply of workers for the various jobs
opportunities all over the country. The railroad was one of the biggest innovations in the late 19th

My Father Is A Second Generation
As anyone in America can relate, heritage and where we come from can construct our personality,
build our demeanor, and in some cases, determines who we are as people. It often amazes me when I
step foot into a class room, or go into a local bar, even walk down the street and see how many
different faces there are. In some aspect, when I look close enough, I can see dead people. Not dead as
in walking zombies, but a glimpse of the past ancestors that helped mold these individuals into the
people standing before me. With that in mind, when I look the mirror I can see who came before me
and through past stories I can feel the struggles that Italians felt as they crossed the ocean to become
Americans.
My father is a second generation Sicilian who grew up in East Lynn, and my mother is a second
generation Northern Italian, who grew up in West Lynn. One of the stories I often hear is how the
Italians and the Sicilians never really got along, and frequently butt heads. Naturally it was very
Romeo and Juliet like that they would end up together. When they become husband and wife my
mother had gone to the jewelers and had this pepper like charm created. This amulate is known as the
Italian Horn, or Cornicello . Although it is more known today, this charm was hard to come by and not
well known outside the Italian culture, and it helped bind the two families together as one. Every
culture has very different ways of doing things, and although Sicily is part of Italy, the two cultures

Full Body Scanners Do Not Lead to Safer Travel Essay
Why should anyone including my 3 year old daughter unnecessarily be exposed to cancer causing X
ray beams in a full body scanner? Or have a total stranger run his or her hands up and down my
daughter s body for a full pat down upon refusing the scan? Most enraging is that the scan can be done
without my knowledge. Full body scanners should not be used in United States airports. The
Transportation Security Administration (TSA), on November 20, 2010 implemented the use of 385
scanners, otherwise know as advanced imaging technology in 68 airports to include Denver
International Airport. The TSA is using these machines supposedly to ensure safer travel and be steps

The two types of scanners currently being used by the TSA are backscatter imaging technology and
millimeter wave imaging. The backscatter imaging is an X ray beam bounced off the skin. Millimeter
wave imaging bounces of electromagnetic waves off the skin as well. Being that both technologies do
not penetrate the body, explosives hidden in body cavities or surgically implanted, go completely
undetected (Heasley 1). Since the technologies being used only bounce waves of the body surface, this
leaves then skin highly exposed to concentrated amounts of radiation. Health side effect studies of full
body scanners have been labeled classified and inaccessible to the general public. Four professors
from the University of California San Francisco, whom are well respected cancer, X ray
crystallographers and imaging experts stated in a letter to the Obama administration that, The low
energy rays do a Compton scatter off tissue layers just under the skin, possibly exposing some vital
areas and leaving the tissues at risk of mutation. When an X ray Compton scatters, it doesn t shift an
electron to a higher energy level; instead, it hits the electron hard enough to dislodge it from its atom.
The authors note that this process is likely breaking bonds, which could cause mutations in cells and
raise the risk of cancer (Johnston). Furthermore, the UCSF researchers write in their letter, older
passengers are more susceptible to mutagenic effects of X rays, and the risk of

The Assessment Team Administrator Should Begin The Process...
The assessment team administrator should begin the process of soliciting assessment team members.
Many organizations solicit members through. Their corporate newsletter, electronic mail, or a personal
letter sent from the president/CEO inviting participation. Team members selections should be
considered from a group of employees who have expressed an interest in better understanding
homeland security and using the Baldrige Criteria as a template for improving their organization s
homeland security infrastructure. Once team members have been selected, it is recommended that an
assessment workshop be conducted by the assessment team administrator or team participants who
have an understanding of homeland security issues and the Baldrige Criteria. The workshop may
include using a case study for the team to practice identifying organizational strengths and
opportunities for improvement in at least one or two categories. During the workshop, the team will

Good Night And Good Luck Analysis
Legendary CBS News broadcaster Edward R. Murrow is a journalist who made history with exposing
Senator Joseph R. McCarthy. Although the story will go down in history, with the help of the movie
Good Night, and Good Luck directed by George Clooney, how much is known of the historically
accurate story. While some could argue that George Clooney and producer, Grant Heslov, made the
screenplay naive, others disagree. Many may even state that it was well researched and followed the
original weekly CBS story, See It Now, accurately. Both are easily arguable.
In the movie, Good Night, and Good Luck, it is portrayed that many people or news companies were
too afraid of McCarthy to stand up to him. Although by the time the show, See It Now, aired on the
9th of March, 1954, many people wanted to remove McCarthy from chairman. Many Republicans
joined Democrats in publicly denouncing him, including Richard Nixon. Many would state that
mainstream news was also very anti McCarthy, including Time Magazine and Chicago Tribune.
Another red flag that may make people question the accurateness of this film is the changing in minor
details, including the beginning of this movie when the date of the RTDNA Convention in Chicago is
displayed on October 25th , 1985 when the Convention was held on October 12th, 1958 . Also,
Murrow s keynote address is introduced by a man who talks about the issues that Murrow reported on

The Samurai s Life During The Tokugawa Period
The Samurai were the medieval warriors of Japan and were usually called bushi or buke (Matt
Williams, Unknown) but only 10% or less of Japan s population was able to become a Bushi.
Although this may sound quite desirable, it managed to improve for Buke when the Tokugawa period
came. Their lifestyle changed for the better and they didn t have to worry about death, while still
retaining the same position on the hierarchy pyramid. Because of this being a samurai knight in the
Tokugawa Period was desirable.
The Samurai s lifestyle changed a lot when the Tokugawa Period came, as this was when civil peace
occurred throughout Feudal Japan. (Columbia University, 2009) This meant that there was no longer a
need for the samurai to fight. With their fighting role diminished the samurai took on the roles of
scholars and advisors. (Red Apple Education, 2013) This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the changes for the Bushi was that they were fortunate enough that they didn t have to worry

becoming courtiers. Courtiers are the people who go with the emperor to court they also move up to

within the public of an honourable position in the feudal system. The samurai still had the right to use
a range of weapons such as bows and arrows and spears but their main weapon and symbol was still

you are either at University of North Texas or Texas Woman s University you will hear the back story
of the bridge history that no one likes to talk about. The Old Alton Bridge Aka the Goat man s Bridge
has a dark side historical landmark to it, there s a story about an African American man who was a
farmer he was selling goat, milk, meat and cheese to provide for his wife and children. One day he
made a sign directing the bridge This way to the Goat man and there was local Ku Klux Klansmen
who did not like the idea of the man posting that on Denton s historical bridge. The Ku Klux Man then
plotted an violence revenge which he ended up hanging the farmer over the bridge with a noose, he
was so proud of his work that when he went to go get the other members of the Klan when they return

Lessexuality And Homosexuality
In today s society sexuality has an undertone of heterosexuality from books, television shows, movies,
and all forms of mass media. To be other than heterosexual is be different but however conforming to
the idea of being different as homosexual is still be affirmed to the standard that heterosexuality is
normal. This idea of the creation story from Aristophanes speech during the Symposium, I interpret
that both homosexuality and heterosexuality is the norm instead of one without the one. According to
the myth two halves are craving the other not just man and women craving each other. However in
modern times we have developed a patrichal society that has forced heterosexuality as a suppression
of women, as the manifestation of male power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, personally in my experience music is one of the biggest influences on sexuality. I have older
parents that listen to older music like love songs or rap that focus on heterosexual relationships,
because sex sells. When I say this I mean that if the media has 99% of the time portrayed
heterosexuality as the norm and it coincides with family standards that was placed in my life I would
not know anything else. In an old school catholic black family heterosexuality was the only option. I
mention these details because Adrienne Rich mentions in some books that she has read concerning this
issue, never addressed innate orientation directly, only hinting or subliminally addressing the idea of
preference . The example she uses makes me think enough to be able to know the way my parents
addressed homosexuality as comedial or religiously a sin like most people who seek understanding
beyond their family it did not make sense, however the catholic church is mostly ran by male figures
instances like this furthers what Kathleen Gough sees as me s ability to deny women sexuality or force
it upon them. Music only currently became inclusive on the mainstream because likemoy family this

understand. Music like Frank Ocean s Thinking About You and his whole Orange Album was still held

The Split Horn Life Of A Hmong Culture Summary
In this documentary, The Split Horn Life of a Hmong Shaman in America focuses on the religious
containment of the Hmong people. Their rich history goes back to the time in a village in North East
Asia where they believed that the Shaman were the great healers for the sick. The Hmong were living
a peaceful life until the Vietnam war broke out and destroyed their village. Many of the Hmong
villagers fled their beloved homeland in order to seek refuge form the war. Many were fortunate
enough to find shelter in Thailand where they stayed for the majority of the conflict. Some were even
lucky enough to get a sponsorship to America. As they slowly came to America the Hmong were
worried that they might lose their religious roots to the American customs.
Some of the Hmong people had to learn English and how to read and write. In their village, they never
had to learn how to read or write because of their background and their religion. The Hmong people
feel that their culture and values still play a major role in their daily lives. Many Hmong communities
rely on the shamans for religious and spiritual support. Without the shamans, the Hmong culture
would be incomplete and slowly diminish.
The Hmong s believe in shamans. Shamans are religious specialists commonly found in small scale
egalitarian societies. They are believed to have the power to contact powerful cosmic beings directly
on behalf of others, sometimes by traveling to the cosmic realm to communicate with them. Shamans

The United States And The Soviet Union Essay
Toronto, Canada Since the end of World War Two, the United States and the Soviet Union have
experienced a number of political clashes. From the Marshall Plan to the Korean war, to testing
nuclear weapons, and to the use of missiles, the United States and the Soviet Union have definitely
established a divide between the two empires. The growing dependence of the United States in Europe
and Great Britain has increased imperialist speculation from the USSR. However, the United States
justifies their presence though the policy of Containment, in its attempt to defend democracy. Also
since post World War Two, there has been a massive increase of arms in both the Soviet Union and the
United States. From the booming economy of the war and the devastating atomic bombs in Hiroshima
and Nagasaki, the United States became a global superpower. The need for efficient nuclear weapons
suddenly became an obsession. In 1952, the USSR managed to develop their own Atomic bomb,
which threatened the position of the United States. And from there an arms race began. The use of
nuclear weapons is an extreme that neither empire wishes to reach, however, the public is not certain.
The Red Scare is very prevalent in the United States, especially with allegations of Soviet infiltration
in the government from Senator McCarthy. As a result, a fear of espionage has risen. Politicians and
the general public has internalized the fear of espionage to the extent that propaganda has been
released and

depressing, sad, heartbreaking, and unfortunate. Any sorrowful word that can think, will describe this

Similarly to the emotions from the photo, the story behind it is also tragic. It starts off with a South

because the subjects are in an angle. The imaginary line between the subjects, but also in the picture,

are more in focus than the background. This is very important because the photographer might have
used this technique to send a very powerful message about starvation and the need for aid in Sudan. In
addition, this scene was in a moment because if the vulture could have flown away, this picture would
have a different meaning. The contents are strong, naturally placed, and balanced. Related to the focus

Determining The Unknown Concentration Of Cobalt (II) Solution
The goal of the experiment was to determine the unknown concentration of the provided Cobalt (II)
solution by using a spectrophotometer/colorimeter. The spectrophotometer was used on the unknown
solution to find the concentration of Cobalt (II). The concepts used from Beer Lambert s Law are the
absorbance and concentration of the tested solution. The equation is A=EbC. A equals absorbance, E is
the constant when identifying the species measuring the wavelength, b is the thickness of the solution,
and C is the concentration of the solution. E and b are both constant, which makes the concentration
and the absorbance directly proportional. Results resembled the standard curve and the connection of
absorbance and concentration was used to estimate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then we got then unknown Cobalt (II) solution and placed it in a cuvette to measure the light
transmittance recording it to three decimal places. Next, the unknown solution of Cobalt (II) was
placed in a 100 mL beaker and the DI water was placed in a smaller beaker to make transferring the
solutions easier. For the process of transferring each solution smoothly, a pipette will be used to place
the unknown solution and DI water into the 10 mL graduated cylinder. First, 100% of the unknown
concentration should be placed in a test tube ready to be put in the spectroscopy. Then, using a clean
pipette fill the graduated cylinder with 9 mL of the unknown solution and fill the rest with DI water
using a different clean pipette until 10 mL is reached. The concentration solution is 90%, and 10% is
the DI water which makes the new mixture. The mixture that was just made will then be poured into a
test tube that is beside the 100% concentration of the unknown solution. The process will then be
continued by pouring 8 mL unknown solution and 2 mL of DI water into the 10 mL graduated cylinder
to get 80% concentration solution; which is poured in the test tube that will be placed by the 90%
concentration test tube. Again, 7 mL of the unknown solution will be placed in the graduated cylinder
along with 3 mL of DI water, which makes 70% concentration solution and 30% DI water. The
solution will then be poured into a test tube and placed by the 80% concentration. Then, 6 mL of
Cobalt (II) unknown solution was placed with a pipette into the 10 mL graduated cylinder with 4 mL
of DI water. Which makes 60% of concentration solution and 40% DI water, and pour the new mixture
into a test tube and place it next to the 70% concentration solution. Take 50% of the unknown solution

Poverty In Detroit Research Paper
Poverty in Detroit Being home to Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler, Detroit was the nation s auto
industry capital in the 1950s ( Anatomy of Detroit s Decline ). The city was thriving, bringing in more
income and more people each year, which led to Detroit s expansion and population peak becoming
the 4th largest city in America. But if the city was doing so well, then what caused such an economic
downfall to put them in the impoverished state they are facing today?
Most of Detroit s economic downfall was because of the reliance on a single industry, which at the
time was the auto industry ( Anatomy of Detroit s Decline ). Although this industry was thriving in
every way possible, the city became too reliant on it because when the auto industry left Detroit, the
economy made a dramatic decrease. While the auto industry was still there, the city ... Show more

Because many people abandoned their homes, the city now has fewer tax payers, and many vacant

out all across the city making any efforts to shrink the city extremely difficult ( Anatomy of Detroit s

Another trial that the city faces is the development of the children (Bouffard, Karen). More than 59%
of the children in Detroit live below the poverty line (Bouffard, Karen). However, there is good news
in the midst of all this bad; Bill Ballmer, owner of the L.A. clippers, grew up in Detroit and is now
focusing on helping Detroit s economy, specifically the children ( Letter: Ending Poverty in Detroit ).

The Major Roles Of A Primary Teacher
What are the major roles of a Primary Teacher?
Defining the roles and duties of a Primary Teacher can be quite difficult. Gipps et al. (2000) define
teaching as: a diverse, complex activity with no clear rules except that the teacher should teach and the
children should learn. (Gipps et al. 2000 p.4).
The roles of a primary teacher may be decided by what we believe is effective teaching. The idea of
how children should be taught and how children learn has changed over time. Gipps (1992) examines
how contributions from theorists change the way we look at children s development and learning. She
proposes that there are two main types of models of learning, constructivist and transmission and goes
on to suggest that the roles a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this perspective, Carroll suggests the role of the teacher is not to hand down information but to
support children s learning and help them reach higher attainment levels than they would if they were
working alone. Teachers must facilitate discussions to allow pupils to share and co construct meanings
as well as organise problem solving activities. Carroll s writing further cements the point earlier
mention by Gipps (1992), suggesting the roles a teacher takes in the classroom depends on the theory
they follow. This can be seen as the roles a teacher performs when following either perspective are
very different.
Having good and substantial knowledge of relevant subjects is often stated in current literature and
documentation as a necessary factor for good and effective primary teaching. It is included in the
Department of Education (2011 p.11) Teachers Standards, where it is stated that teachers should have
secure subject and curriculum knowledge, and be able to inspire pupils into developing their own
learning and knowledge. A report from Ofsted (2009) looking into the connection between high
quality teaching and subject knowledge in primary education, showed that where lessons were deemed
satisfactory, the teachers weakness in their subject knowledge had negative effects on their pupils
achievement. Writing for the Times Educational Supplement, Morrison (2014) suggests that subject
knowledge is the most important factor for successful teaching in

The Development Ofu.s Copyright Law
The Development of U.S Copyright Law
Simon Cho
The history of U.S copyright law came from England. As a matter of fact, copyright was not intended
to reward creators but to prevent sedition. As the number of presses grew in late fifteenth century in
England, the authorities started to grant control over the publication of books to a group of printers,
called the Stationers Company in mid sixteenth century. The Licensing Act of 1662 confirmed that
licensed printers have the right to publish the work forever. The Stationer s Company didn t disappear
even though the 1662 act lapsed in 1694. Rather, it shifted its focus from printers to authors.
Therefore, the Parliament enacted the first copyright law in 1710, called the Statue of Anne, which
protects author s work if they registered their work to the government. Under the Statue of Anne,
authors had a right to control their creations and sell their rights to the third person. U.S. Congress has
revised the copyright law to broaden the sphere of copyright and to address new technologies as time
goes by. This paper illustrates what have the Congress amended in the copyright law and how has the
amended law impacted proprietors by looking into major revisions in U.S. copyright law. U.S
Congress reviewed its copyright law based on the Statue of Anne in early eighteenth century. The
Congress first exercised its copyright protection with the Copyright Act of 1790, which secure the
copies of maps, charts and books to the

Terry Teachout s Taking Sinatra Seriously
Surprisingly, despite his mentality of seeing himself as the next great singer, Frank had some trouble
singing at first. In his article, Taking Sinatra Seriously , Terry Teachout stated that Sinatra s voice
tended to sound a bit awkward, unaware, and uncomfortable in faster paced songs; it would take
around a decade for him to reach full vocal development (55). As a result, his friend Hank Sanicola
prompted Frank to take singing lessons. One of Sinatra s instructors was former Metropolitan Opera
singer, John Quinlan. Quinlan had him do vocal exercises as well as pronunciation work: attempting
to eliminate his Hoboken accent from songs. Fortunately, these lessons did work to Frank s overall
advantage; he felt much more confident with his singing, despite his old friends mocking him for
sounding so proper (Kaplan 53). Furthermore, while working early in his career with band leader and
skilled trombone player Tommy Dorsey, Frank attempted to pick up more skills from this master of
breath control. I used to watch Tommy s back, his jacket, to see when he would breathe , Sinatra later
admitted (Kaplan 105). Naturally, Frank worked to improve his lung capacity: he did so apparently by
swimming in pools for hours, holding his breath underwater ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Potential Challanges
Several potential challenges exist to the validity and reliability of the research questions, data and
analysis. After looking at the survey and the data collected, some concerns are apparent to the validity
of the information. This survey conducted used two methods. The first method was an online survey.
The second survey method was a face to face questionnaire. The face to face survey was conducted in
struggling retail locations and vicinity. Shopping Malls and heavy populated areas were the locations
chosen for this survey. One major concern is that the participants used were not necessarily current
Starbucks customers. The purpose for this was to increase and promote Starbucks to non customers.
Questions regarding the current Starbucks menu and ambiance does not solicit a true response if the
individual surveyed is not a customer. Furthermore, competition coffee retailers are also a large
concern. Surveying a

with only one explanation: Naturally I concluded somebody was playing a joke on us, and told my
assistant to label the body as persons unknown . This would mean he could be cremated by authorities
and the death filed as that of an unknown male in his late 60s to early 70s. But it was then that things

confirmed that the body was indeed the reggae legend. The Jamaican government admitted going

  • 2. Project Manager With Hospital Corporation Of America My desire to earn an MBA degree grew from my job as project manager with Hospital Corporation of America. In this position, I worked on implementation and optimization projects and managed teams instrumental in creating policies and budgets for hospitals within the company. After my first implementation project, I became passionate about the huge role I played in advancing healthcare practices in the company. My job afforded me opportunities to set up my own project, create the milestones and scope principles, and manage my own team. My experience with managing daily activities on such large projects, while working with executive and senior leadership teams equipped me with an array of knowledge and experience on how to manage healthcare projects. These projects helped with my leadership and management skills with corporate and hospital employees. However, I felt I lacked the education in organizational and business practices needed to further understand the business process, flow, and principles of managing a company. I sensed I was missing a piece of the puzzle that would help me completely understand all the necessary components to effectively navigate as a healthcare professional. My constant battle between experience and knowledge led to the conclusion that furthering my education would be best. Enrolling as an MBA student provided me with the educational tools needed to determine the right methods to use in making high level decisions. My initial MBA coursework gave ... • 3. Having Sealant Applied To Your Child s Teeth Essay What You Should Know About Having Sealant Applied To Your Child s Teeth It s important to teach your child good dental hygiene habits starting when the baby teeth first erupt. Establishing a pattern of regular dental visits and daily brushing will help protect your child s teeth for life. However, it may be difficult for your child to always brush effectively. That s where dental sealants come in. They help reduce the risk of developing cavities. The procedure is easy to endure, and it s certainly much less stressful and less expensive than getting a filling. Here s what you should know about this dental procedure. Dental Sealants Fill Pits The pits and grooves of your child s teeth are breeding grounds for bacteria because food gets stuck in them easily. If your child is not able to brush vigorously, the food may not get removed. Even if your child brushes very well, the bristles on the toothbrush may be to large to get down into the very small pits. A dental sealant is a type of liquid plastic the dentist applies to a tooth. It flows into all the grooves and pits, and then hardens. This makes the surface of the tooth smoother and less likely to trap food that feeds bacteria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, it is common to wait for the first set of molars to fully erupt before considering dental sealants. The decision is on a tooth by tooth basis. Your child s dentist examines each tooth after it emerges through the gum. It s possible the dentist will recommend sealing a baby tooth or a front tooth. It all depends on the shape and condition of your child s teeth. Another reason your dentist may wait to apply sealant until the molars come in is because by then your child is old enough to cooperate with the procedure. While it isn t painful, some cooperation is necessary since the tooth has to stay dry or the sealant won t adhere ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are three main categories for communication method depending on its content (Communication Strategies, 2017). Type 1: Mass communication Mass communication is the method of conveying message using online resource such as email, newspaper and memos. It is considered as a cost effective medium since it allows all the participate to receive the information with least cost. However, the disadvantages of this method are it is not personal as the employee might ignore the message to get the information. There is no feedback for the implementation of the method. Type 2: Interactive Communication This method requires feedback from the reader for interaction purpose. For example, the mediums for interactive communication are email for Q A pages, online chats and online discussion. Employees can ask questions using anonymous identity and this facilitates a two way communication where both parties can receive the information needed. The few disadvantages are it is very time consuming and ineffective to spread the information as the first method. Type 3: Face to face communication Face to face communication such as meetings, training session and forum allows the employees to receive valuable information directly from in charge person such as managers. Similar to type 2, it is also very time consuming and ineffective to spread the news to a large population in a shorter time and lowest cost. • 5. The Importance Of Revenge In Hamlet Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder (Act I Scene V, Ghost). The Ghost is a messenger from Hell that persuades a vulnerable Hamlet into doing evil acts against his family and those that appear closest to him. In behavior alone, Hamlet s dramatic change in personality shows how the Ghost has influenced him in an evil way. There are multiple examples throughout this entire play that displays a dark cloud that follows Hamlet around. Unfortunately, these bad things just continue to happen to Hamlet and around him. The Ghost poses as a helpful character, in the beginning, showing Hamlet what really happened, but he actually just wanted to take revenge on the person who killed him. The Ghost enters into the story in the figure of Hamlet s recently deceased father to Marcellus and Bernardo, the two guards in the tower. They immediately report this sighting to Horatio to witness the sighting of the Ghost. Horatio then is shocked because he sees the Ghost is wearing armor similar to that of King Hamlet s, who had recently passed away. This makes Prince Hamlet aware of the sighting as well. Hamlet then consequently goes to see the Ghost and follows him out past the castle walls. He then proceeds to tell him that his uncle, who had just married Hamlet s mother, killed his father in his sleep with poison and that he must seek revenge. Right from the beginning, the Ghost is implementing horrible ideas into Hamlet s mind who is hurt by the passing of his father. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Morrissey (2008) and Othman and Jemni(2011) applied the technique of translation into a writing notation in their systems. Two mainoptions have been made of use in sign language synthesis. The first main method of sign language synthesis is to use concatenated recordings of videos toproduce the sequence of gestures required. Recordings of a signer perfoming gestures are storedand retrieved in some form of storage system. This approach has the advantage of providingmore lifelike signing comparable to what one would experience in real life. Also the likelihood oferrors is reduced by having a professional ... Chuang et al(2006) proposes a method that searchesthrough the collection of video clips and calculates the most suitable transition betwwen thejoining sign clips. The method makes use of a non uniform rational B spline approach for theclip selection. One fault in making use of this method is due the need for a large database ofclips so as to come up with the best possible transition movements between signs. Also theprocess involving the selection makes the overall system take a huge perfomance hit. Solina etal(2001) proposes a system where each of the video clips in the database has the same start andend position. in this case, it is suggested that the signer starts and ends the sign at the sameposition at the with both arms on the chest of the signer s body. Thus in joining clips togetherthere is no transition movement. The main drawback of this system being that the resultantvideo would result in an unnatural siging sentence even though there is smmoth transitionwithin the video. it also additionally a more advanced method applying computer vision tochoose the most suitable transition between video clips. An alternative method to using recorded video for sign synthesis is ... Many discoveries were made about photography during the late 1800 s and into the 1900 s, but none greater than the discoveries of Ansel Adams. Ansel Adams made a huge impact on photography because of his technological advances, environmental work, and how he won the hearts of many with his beautiful works of art. • 9. Reproductivity Of The Art Of Art By Walter Benjamin Walter Benjamin writes about the aura of works of art, and how reproductivity can affect the authenticity of the artwork. Throughout his essay, he discusses the production of art, and how each piece of art has a specific aura that separates it from any reproductions of it. Some arguments have been made that reproductivity can degrade the authenticity of a work of art, while others have been made that it spreads the influence a work of art. While both claims can be made, it is more valid that the reproductivity of a work of art degrades its authenticity, and that the original art has an aura that cannot be reproduced. Benjamin begins the essay by analyzing Marx s predictions of capitalism, starting with the idea that according to Marx, What could be expected, it emerged, was not only an increasingly harsh exploitation of the proletariat but, ultimately, the creation of conditions which would make it possible for capitalism to abolish itself (Introduction, pg. 251). Benjamin responds, however, claiming that fascism itself proves to be dysfunctional, because when considering the creation of art, several concepts such as creativity, genius, and mystery are all neutralized. Next, Benjamin describes the idea of authenticity, and how it connects to artwork. He describes it as the here and now of the work of art its unique existence in a particular place. It is this unique existence and nothing else that bears the mark of the history to which the work has been subject (Section II, pg. 253). This description of authenticity the idea that an original piece of art has this mark that makes it unique in its existence is important when Benjamin discusses the aura of a work. This is because this authenticity is a defining feature that cannot be ascribed to any reproduction. Benjamin then considers technological reproduction, and how it is not ascribed this authority compared to hand made forgery. He claims that the two reasons for this are as follows: Technological reproduction is not as connected to the original artwork than is handmade reproduction, because, for example, a photograph brings out different aspects of the work than the human eye, such as zoom and perspective. Second, a technological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Recession Of A Recession Economical term recession means a significant decrease in activity across the economy, which last longer than few months. This phenomenon is visible in employment, wholesale retail trade, and others. The recession is considered a normal part of the business cycle. Nevertheless, a one time crisis can trigger the onset of a recession. The global recession through 2007 to 2009 resulted in significant breakdowns to practically all the developed and developing countries. In order to prevent a future financial crisis, numerous government policies were enforced. A recession usually last 6 to 18 months and interest rate fall to stimulate the economy. During a recession, people tend not to spend, borrow, but to save money because of a fall in confidence. The government initiates an expansionary fiscal policy which involves increasing stimulus government spending and cutting taxes. However, the question is can increased stimulus spending help end the recession. The first article, Increased Stimulus Spending Can Help End the Recession by Lawrence H. Summers, argues that for a successful economic recovery, the US government must pursue measures that increase confidence, borrowing, and spending (Summers 1). Summers alleges that the reason why recession keeps on is because of lack of demand. An increase in spending to increase demand is the cure, even though too much spending was part of a cause in recession. Summers defined a recession as: Recessions are times when there is too ... • 11. Who Is Joseph Conrad Uncivilized Through contemplation of Joseph Conrad s complex descriptions and ideas of life in Africa, or the heart of darkness, it can be established that he is, in fact, not racist. Conrad was simply expressing the dark, uncivilized manners of the African people to contrast the light European hoi polloi and the unfair dehumanization of slaves in his time period. The African people that Conrad viewed as uncivilized could be considered an act of racism; however, it is also logical to believe that he was merely trying to demonstrate the common, effete opinion among Europeans of this time frame. (Conrad 407). At the surface, this quote seems to be a cry for the brutes or Africans to be destroyed, yet it could also be assumed that Conrad is absolutely tired of the darkness of mankind in general. Ellie Arielle addresses this quotation, as well, by saying; Although Kurtz is implying that the people and the situation in the Congo are in need of some considerable control and that the only solution he sees is extermination, what Marlow realizes is that humanity is not the cause of the problem and that the Africans are not the heart of darkness, but that greed and lust for economic freedom is. (Arielle) The topic of economic freedom appears frequently throughout the novella especially with the arrival of the ribald Eldorado Exploring Expedition. It is clear that the European men are oblivious to their surroundings and only interested in money and this is another way for Conrad to show how humanity has let him down. In some aspect, when I look close enough, I can see dead people. Not dead as in walking zombies, but a glimpse of the past ancestors that helped mold these individuals into the people standing before me. While some could argue that George Clooney and producer, Grant Heslov, made the screenplay naive, others disagree. Many may even state that it was well researched and followed the original weekly CBS story, See It Now, accurately. Both are easily arguable. In the movie, Good Night, and Good Luck, it is portrayed that many people or news companies were too afraid of McCarthy to stand up to him. For the process of transferring each solution smoothly, a pipette will be used to place the unknown solution and DI water into the 10 mL graduated cylinder. First, 100% of the unknown concentration should be placed in a test tube ready to be put in the spectroscopy. Then, using a clean pipette fill the graduated cylinder with 9 mL of the unknown solution and fill the rest with DI water using a different clean pipette until 10 mL is reached. The concentration solution is 90%, and 10% is the DI water which makes the new mixture. Again, 7 mL of the unknown solution will be placed in the graduated cylinder along with 3 mL of DI water, which makes 70% concentration solution and 30% DI water. The solution will then be poured into a test tube and placed by the 80% concentration. Then, 6 mL of Cobalt (II) unknown solution was placed with a pipette into the 10 mL graduated cylinder with 4 mL of DI water. The acquisition of SC has also the potential to add on unique liquor which is mixed by a secret formula and has exclusive rights which (see Appendix?) have a huge synergic benefit to the present BF product mix line offerings and brand equity. Besides, SC has strengthened channels of foreign distribution and tremendous brand growth in 1977 compared with competitor brands in the same product line. Because SC is not aggressively marketed and that it is wrongly positioned market, because they think it is a whiskey. If acquired, SC could bring in the foreign penetration capabilities and know how to BF. If aggressively marketed and repositioned SC could add a lot of vale to BF too. SC also has a well reputable brand offering and the management is well run and efficient, equal to that of BF thus the acquisition of SC would fit well in BF style of management philosophy. SC also has modern equipment which is an asset that could strengthen the asset base of BF and could be used in the continued production of SC without replenishing the asset in the foreseeable future and/or tries to adopt the production of SC to BF product line systems and standards. She portrays Draupadi as a powerful, strong and independent woman, an equal to the men around her, rather than subservient. The novelist presents Draupadi s life as a series of choices made by herself, and not by her written fate. • 29. Poverty In Detroit Research Paper Poverty in Detroit Being home to Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler, Detroit was the nation s auto industry capital in the 1950s ( Anatomy of Detroit s Decline ). The city was thriving, bringing in more income and more people each year, which led to Detroit s expansion and population peak becoming the 4th largest city in America. But if the city was doing so well, then what caused such an economic downfall to put them in the impoverished state they are facing today? Most of Detroit s economic downfall was because of the reliance on a single industry, which at the time was the auto industry ( Anatomy of Detroit s Decline ). Although this industry was thriving in every way possible, the city became too reliant on it because when the auto industry left Detroit, the economy made a dramatic decrease. This task to shrink the city would be easier if these abandoned homes were next to each other in convenient chunks, but it appears that Detroit is not so lucky, for the abandoned homes are spread out all across the city making any efforts to shrink the city extremely difficult ( Anatomy of Detroit s Decline ). Another trial that the city faces is the development of the children (Bouffard, Karen). More than 59% of the children in Detroit live below the poverty line (Bouffard, Karen). However, there is good news in the midst of all this bad; Bill Ballmer, owner of the L.A. clippers, grew up in Detroit and is now focusing on helping Detroit s economy, specifically the children ( Letter: Ending Poverty in Detroit ). He is doing so by opening an office in Detroit that focuses on fighting poverty and enhancing the development of Detroit s youth ( Letter: Ending Poverty in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The Major Roles Of A Primary Teacher What are the major roles of a Primary Teacher? Defining the roles and duties of a Primary Teacher can be quite difficult. Gipps et al. (2000) define teaching as: a diverse, complex activity with no clear rules except that the teacher should teach and the children should learn. (Gipps et al. 2000 p.4). The roles of a primary teacher may be decided by what we believe is effective teaching. The idea of how children should be taught and how children learn has changed over time. Gipps (1992) examines how contributions from theorists change the way we look at children s development and learning. She proposes that there are two main types of models of learning, constructivist and transmission and goes on to suggest that the roles a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this perspective, Carroll suggests the role of the teacher is not to hand down information but to support children s learning and help them reach higher attainment levels than they would if they were working alone. Teachers must facilitate discussions to allow pupils to share and co construct meanings as well as organise problem solving activities. Carroll s writing further cements the point earlier mention by Gipps (1992), suggesting the roles a teacher takes in the classroom depends on the theory they follow. This can be seen as the roles a teacher performs when following either perspective are very different. Having good and substantial knowledge of relevant subjects is often stated in current literature and documentation as a necessary factor for good and effective primary teaching. It is included in the Department of Education (2011 p.11) Teachers Standards, where it is stated that teachers should have secure subject and curriculum knowledge, and be able to inspire pupils into developing their own learning and knowledge. A report from Ofsted (2009) looking into the connection between high quality teaching and subject knowledge in primary education, showed that where lessons were deemed satisfactory, the teachers weakness in their subject knowledge had negative effects on their pupils achievement. Writing for the Times Educational Supplement, Morrison (2014) suggests that subject knowledge is the most important factor for successful teaching in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Development Ofu.s Copyright Law The Development of U.S Copyright Law Simon Cho The history of U.S copyright law came from England. As a matter of fact, copyright was not intended to reward creators but to prevent sedition. As the number of presses grew in late fifteenth century in England, the authorities started to grant control over the publication of books to a group of printers, called the Stationers Company in mid sixteenth century. The Licensing Act of 1662 confirmed that licensed printers have the right to publish the work forever. The Stationer s Company didn t disappear even though the 1662 act lapsed in 1694. Rather, it shifted its focus from printers to authors. Therefore, the Parliament enacted the first copyright law in 1710, called the Statue of Anne, which protects author s work if they registered their work to the government. Under the Statue of Anne, authors had a right to control their creations and sell their rights to the third person. U.S. Congress has revised the copyright law to broaden the sphere of copyright and to address new technologies as time goes by. This paper illustrates what have the Congress amended in the copyright law and how has the amended law impacted proprietors by looking into major revisions in U.S. copyright law. • 32. Terry Teachout s Taking Sinatra Seriously Surprisingly, despite his mentality of seeing himself as the next great singer, Frank had some trouble singing at first. In his article, Taking Sinatra Seriously , Terry Teachout stated that Sinatra s voice tended to sound a bit awkward, unaware, and uncomfortable in faster paced songs; it would take around a decade for him to reach full vocal development (55). As a result, his friend Hank Sanicola prompted Frank to take singing lessons. One of Sinatra s instructors was former Metropolitan Opera singer, John Quinlan. Quinlan had him do vocal exercises as well as pronunciation work: attempting to eliminate his Hoboken accent from songs. Fortunately, these lessons did work to Frank s overall advantage; he felt much more confident with his singing, despite his old friends mocking him for sounding so proper (Kaplan 53). Furthermore, while working early in his career with band leader and skilled trombone player Tommy Dorsey, Frank attempted to pick up more skills from this master of breath control. I used to watch Tommy s back, his jacket, to see when he would breathe , Sinatra later admitted (Kaplan 105).
