Analyse The Importance Of Early Intervention In Children
I have learnt that language can be cognitive, material or social (Gee Hayes, 2011). Some view
language as a set of social conventions, shared by a group of people about how to communicate such
as classroom or sporting rules, often supplied in books and followed by people. Children don t read
books so social conventions need to be taught by modelling behaviour and communication.
With the exception of severe disabilities or social problems, all humans acquire language as a core of
basic property of their humanity called vernacular which is used in everyday life Gee Hayes (2011, p.
8). I believe that this is why early intervention is so important; not to label a child; but to better
support them for further education. Most humans can learn

Maltese Falcon
The Maltese Falcon, was not only a detective film, but a film that displayed many different aspects of
the female and the male character in the movie. The film was more than a story, but a story that
explored the ideas of the detective genre and the different characteristics of femininity and
masculinity. It also brought forth subjects of sexual desires and the greediness of money. The
characters and the visual motifs in the film contributed to the developing of the plot and assisted in
creating a more detective and gender oriented film. In the film, The Maltese Falcon, the role of men
and women are portrayed in different ways in the film to show the distinct functions of masculinity
and femininity between the characters. Sam said ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

character follows through with the dark past theme. Since she has deceived him many times, it was
hard for Sam to believe what words that came out of her mouth. Sam said to Brigid, If you were
actually as innocent as you pretend to be, we would never get anywhere. She wasn t able to receive his
trust, so in many ways, this showed that women could not be trusted and that it portrayed women in a
lower view. Haven t you tried to buy my loyalty with money and nothing else? This shows that she
was desperate and willing enough to receive his trust through the exchange of money. What else can I
buy you with? Towards the end of the film, it showed how hard she tried to convince him that she still
loved him so that she wouldn t go to jail. I would have come back to you soon, from the very first
instant I saw you, I knew. Through this you could figure out the true personality of Brigid and how she
worked. Brigid wasn t the only one who tried to trick a person into something, Sam lied as well in

Missed Oil Change Essay
An important part of a car s maintenance schedule is an engine oil change. An engine s life can be
shortened faster with missed oil changes. The primary function of oil is to cut friction. Oil changes
should not ever be put off. Oil that is dirty or not there does not allow a vehicle to function properly.
The damages can be costly, because it can be irreversible without an engine overhaul. It is a relatively
simple service that should be done when it is due. It is cheaper to buy oil than to replace an engine.
However, it is confusing when an oil change is needed. The recommendations by quick lube shops
speak to a wide audience; address cars of every age, every mileage, and all have different maintenance
schedules. People have been convinced to stick to the 3,000 mile changes by these companies who are
strong advocates driven by profit. These recommendations are not necessarily the ones your car needs,
because there is not a one size fits all solution. Most people sense their cars require an oil change
when they see the low oil light come on. The light is an indicator that the oil level is low and is losing
its ability to function properly. By then damage is already occurring to the engine. Others go by the
standard guideline for an oil change after 3,000 to 3,500 miles. This rule is old and no longer applies
to cars purchased ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The oil intervals vary by engines and manufacturers. Oil change interval guidelines have been
designed to keep a car running in good condition. Manufacturers make recommendations based on
mild or severe driving conditions. This information can be found on the owner s manual or in the
manufacturer s website. Maintenance indicators can measure the oil quality to determine life
expectancy with an accurate assessment. The owner s manual should be the main guide if a car is not
equipped with a maintenance light or

Early-Life Disadvantages
The literature on environmental factors and their effect on health and life expectancy is extensive.
Studies of mortality have found that childhood health and socioeconomic context are important
predictors, often regardless of adult experiences (Motez and Hayward 2014). One study examines
whether early life disadvantages both shorten lives and increase the number of years lived with
functional impairment (Motez and Hayward 2014). These early life disadvantages could be health,
socio economic, or environmental related. Within levels of educational accomplishment, adults from
underprivileged childhoods lived fewer years, and spent a greater portion of life impaired compared
with adults from advantaged childhoods (Motez and Hayward 2014). Higher levels of education did
not improve the health consequences of disadvantaged childhoods. However, because education had a
better impact on health than childhood socioeconomic setting, adults from disadvantaged childhoods
who achieved high education levels often had a length of life that was similar to those from privileged
childhoods who achieved low education levels. (Motez and Hayward 2014). Recent research has
identified a trend that supports the research of Motez and Hayward. Historically, there has been a
penalty associated with urban places, also known as the rural mortality penalty (James 2014).
However, in recent decades, a reversal has occurred (James 2014). Beginning in the mid 1980s, rural
and urban mortality rates

Recruitment And Selection Strategies For A Limousine
June 27, 2014 HRM531 Landslide Limousine has given us the opportunity to help them develop their
recruitment and selection strategies. Recruiting and selecting the right candidate can be a very
overwhelming process. In this document I have put together a series of recommendation that I believe
will help the process become a lot less stressful. My recommendation will cover the following areas
Organizational goals Forecasted demographic changes Workforce diversity objectives Organizational
branding Methods for recruiting Candidates Methods for screening Candidates Methods for selecting
Candidates Organizational Goals As specified in the past by Mr. Bradley Stonefield goals for his
limousine business is as followed he requires 25 employees, with an anticipated revenue of $50,000 in
the first year, and expected yearly revenue growth of 5%. Expecting annual turnover of 10%, and
maintaining an expected yearly revenue growth of 5% . With those goals, selecting the most qualified
candidates will assist the organization in offering quality services to clients and will in return add
value to the organization in the future. Allowing Mr. Stonefield to meet his organizational goals.
Forecasted demographic changes In today s society, with various changes occurring in demographics

Artificial Intelligence Is The Dominant Theory
Artificial intelligence is intelligence exhibited by machines or software. Artificial intelligence also
studies how people create computers that are capable or preforming an intelligent behavior, like a
human (Business Dictionary). To back up artificial intelligence, there is functionalism. Hilary Putman
developed functionalism in the 1970 s, which is still the dominant theory in todays society.
Functionalism states that having a mind does not require a brain and mental states can be realized by
other kinds of substances. Mental states are also defined by their functions. In other words,
functionalism is where ones causes and effects define the views of their mental states. An example can
be defined as being in pain, which can cause ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dualism is just a substance and it stated that the mind is made up of other things rather than just
atoms. Where materialism states the opposite. It showed that there were no such things as immaterial
substances, which meant there were no souls. Materialism was the simpler theory because there was
no mystery and it assumed the least. For that, Ockham s razor denied the objection to the mind body
dualism because it assumed too much. Along with that, materialism was able to prove that without
having a soul, computers can still be intelligent like a human.
Functionalism was an influence that made people believe in the possibility that machines can be
intelligent. It also identifies mental states by what they do rather than what they are made of and there
in that statement, the mind body dualism is denied by functionalism. Perhaps mental states are more a
matter of software, like running a program on your computer (Rosen et al., 355). It is denied not only
because there is not enough information to back it up, but because functionalism says that beliefs,
desires and emotions fit into the larger system since those types of mental states must be realized by
something else other than by what it already is.
Like anything else in philosophy, there are always objections to someone s theory. An objection or the

The Effects Of Heroin Abuse
Heroin use has steadily increased post Vietnam to current day, although it has seen a sharp climb in
recent years. This sudden spark in heroin addiction is termed the Heroin epidemic. The Heroin
epidemic can affect all members of society, and it does not discriminate between race, income level or
gender; the government fights the war on drugs but the community and mass media are vital in the
total annihilation of addiction and the epidemic. Many Heroin users first interacted with opioids, such
as painkillers which is a close relative to heroin, but the cost was too much, so they turned to a cheap
and destructive drug, Heroin. Heroin inherits its addictiveness from the opioid family. Opioids are
extremely addictive painkillers such as OxyContin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The drug is a part of the highly addictive opioid family, which are used to make painkillers needed by
many Americans. The issue is that the many Americans who have used painkillers, whether prescribed
or taken illegally, are forty times more likely to try heroin ( Today s Heroin Epidemic ). The epidemic
is hard to control because it effects everyone. Not one gender, race or economic level is considered
safe from the abuse of this substance. The government has been attempting to end the high levels of
abuse in America since the late sixties, but old methods proved costly and ineffective. The
transitioning of viewing heroin addiction as a crime to mental health has reaped some benefits.
Facilities now a days have made break throughs in assuring better futures for addicts by proving them
with proper treatment and arming them with correct knowledge of how to combat their disease.
Heroin has sparked an important discussion in society involving media, race, sex and economic status,
and the epidemic forced the federal government to act accordingly, which allowed communities to
properly react and try to lower addiction. Though the rise of heroin use will most likely continue, the
epidemic has to eventually come to an end; whether the government makes a final push to eliminate
drug use completely or police enforcement cuts down on dealers, the epidemic eventually

Earthquake Intensities
Earthquake Intensities
Earthquakes are a marvel of geology. When faults under the surface of the earth move, the ground
moves. These earthquakes can be very mild, barely registering or they can be horrific with far
reaching consequences. Scientists have become fascinated with the study of earthquakes for centuries
but it is only in recent years that quantified data has been collected and analyzed by scientists
regarding these geologic phenomena. Before the invention of the Richter scale, less accurate means of
measuring an earthquake s intensity were used by geological scientists.
Until the early 1900s, earthquakes could only be measured after the earthquake had ended and then
only approximations could be made. The first attempt at scientifically measuring an earthquake s
intensity was performed in the middle of the nineteenth century. In Italy in 1857, the after effects of an
earthquake were quantified (Lutgen 2011, page 179). A map was created to show the comparable
damages that were found in different areas. This allowed geographers to make maps which would
show the areas of highest intensity and how intensity lessened in surrounding areas. Although this was
helpful, it only showed comparative intensities, not quantified data.
In 1902, Giuseppe Mercalli developed what was called the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale. An
American version of the Mercalli system was incorporated in 1931. This system judged intensity of
earthquakes based upon the ways California

Saint Francis Of Assisi Analysis
Kind and giving, Saint Francis of Assisi had these attributes. Helping lepers and giving to the poor, he
definitely had the right to say, Not hurting our humble brethren is our first duty to them. He never hurt
a soul, even animals fell into his care. Francis, a Roman Catholic friar and preacher, lived up to his
saying. Above the treetops he watched beautifully feathered birds, calling them his little brothers and
sisters. He treated all with respect, building others up for the glory of God.
This proverb may be confusing to some, but Saint Francis did not mean it to be. Gently, this saying
was directed to wealthier healthier people, saying that they should help those who are not as
prosperous. An easier way to think of this quote is, Do not hurt those less fortunate than us for that is
what they desire most. This meaning that we should never tear down or hurt others just because they
are less fortunate.
Loving and considerate, this saying tells us not to be hateful or abusive to the impoverished, Francis is
gently lecturing more fortunate people to help those who need food more than they do. This is a
reminder for us as well, even if we don t feel old enough anyone can help. If we do not speak up for
others then there will be no one to speak up for us when we need it most. ... Show more content on

Baby Suggs Dichotomy
While the lash marks from whippings remain on their skins, the former slaves within Toni Morrison s
Beloved are scarred most by their mental trauma. While connecting to the community is used as part
of the healing process, Morrison abolishes the concept that all communities are healing. Specifically,
communities in which the relations of power are equal and members treated as ends in themselves are
critical in overcoming adversity, while an imbalance of power, as well as seclusion, can incite the
trauma from the beginning.
The dichotomy between collective support and an individual in isolation is evaporated as Paul D,

Discrimination In The Fourth Amendment
The Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was conscripted to safeguard the right to be free from
governmental imposition. Devoid of a warrant and authentic probable cause, an officer cannot go into
a home and search it. The Fourth Amendment protects against unreasonable searches and seizures and
enforces both a meticulousness and probable cause requirement for issuing warrants. The fourth
amendment seems to be fitting for the early immigrants. Discrimination is a very serious problem for
society even back to date. People do discriminate against each other whether their actions are
intentional or happen due to the lack of knowledge or elaborate sociological triggers as well as
societal misconceptions and personal obliviousness. During early immigration, immigrants were
receiving this treatment more than ever according to Multicultural Reading in Context writer s
Barbara Roche Rico and Sandra Mano states, As soon as they arrived, immigrant families were
detained at the immigration center for a series of debasing questions and medical examinations (Rico
and Mano 160). There is no type of privacy shown here. As far as historical records show, no society
or nation has been invulnerable to discrimination, either as victim or victimizer. In all countries there
is at least one type of discrimination that impacts diverse groups of people. During this time in the
1800s even the Fourth Amendment was null in void to most Americans concerning immigrants

Essay on Federalist 10 Summary
Summary Analysis of Federalist #10 Summary:
Madison begins perhaps the most famous of the Federalist papers by stating that one of the strongest
arguments in favor of the Constitution is the fact that it establishes a government capable of
controlling the violence and damage caused by factions. Madison defines that factions are groups of
people who gather together to protect and promote their special economic interests and political
opinions. Although these factions are at odds with each other, they frequently work against the public
interests, and infringe upon the rights of others. Both supporters and opponents of the plan are
concerned with the political instability produced by rival factions. The state governments have ...

To Madison, there are only two ways to control a faction: one, to remove its causes and the second to
control its effects. The first is impossible. There are only two ways to remove the causes of a faction:
destroy liberty or give every citizen the same opinions, passions, and interests. Destroying liberty is a
cure worse then the disease itself, and the second is impracticable. The causes of factions are thus part
of the nature of man and we must deal with their effects and accept their existence. The government
created by the Constitution controls the damage caused by such factions. The framers established a
representative form of government, a government in which the many elect the few who govern. Pure
or direct democracies (countries in which all the citizens participate directly in making the laws)
cannot possibly control factious conflicts. This is
because the strongest and largest faction dominates, and there is no way to protect weak factions
against the actions of an obnoxious individual or a strong majority. Direct democracies cannot
effectively protect personal and property rights and have always been characterized by conflict. If the
new plan of government is adopted, Madison hopes that the men elected to office will be wise and
good men the best of America. Theoretically, those who govern should be the least likely to sacrifice
the public good to temporary condition, but the opposite might

Absolutism In King Louis Xiv s The Palace Of Versailles
The Palace of Versailles is one of the most infamous works of European architecture known to man
throughout history. Brought to life by King Louis XIV, otherwise known as the Sun King, his reign of
absolutism directly affected the architecture and design of the Palace, turning it into a lasting symbol
for absolutism. Louis XIV had the longest reign in European history, ruling from 1643 to 1715 for a
total of 72 years. He was born on September 5th, 1638, succeeding his father on the throne at the age
of four. Because he was too young to rule France himself, his mother, Anne of Austria, became regent
and ruled in his place. During his mother s rule, the noble and judges of the parliament of Paris
launched a civil war revolt known as the Fronde ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A direct quote from Louis XIV himself illustrates the induction of the new political institution: Up to
this moment I have been pleased to entrust the government of my affairs to the late Cardinal. It is now
time that I govern them myself. ( Louis XIV: Absolutism, Steingrad) He began his rule in 1661 at the
age of 23. Many feared that Louis XIV was a bit too immature to assume the throne, including his
mother, but he took his role as an absolute monarch quite seriously, bordering on excessively. Rather
than rely on high nobility and princes, Louis called on ministers from nobles of newer aristocratic
families. If any one were to step out of line, Louis had them arrested and imprisoned. For example,
when his minister of finances, Nicholas Fouquet, began to boast about his authority and wealth,
Fouquet was immediately incarcerated. ( Louis XIV: Absolutism, Steingrad) Religion was another
source of tension. Louis XIV did not want Protestants practicing their faith in Catholic France. His
motto in regards to religion was one king, one law, one faith, encapsulating the ideals of absolutism.
He believed that the existence of the Protestants undermined his authority, and began attempting to
entice them to conversion by offering rewards. Eventually, he moved to forced conversions. Louis
XIV was a proponent of Gallicanism, which is the belief that the monarchy held certain rights over the
Catholic Church, regardless of the papal powers. Pope Innocent XI denounced King Louis XIV and in
response, Louis ordered the French clergy to establish the Declaration of Gallican Liberties. The
document maintained that the pope s authority was limited to spiritual matters and that even in
spiritual matters, the pope was subject to the decisions of a general council. ( Louis XIV: Absolutism,
Steingrad) This caused a large amount of tension between the king and church, to the point where a
split was possible. However,

Common Propositional Argument Evaluation
On pages 164 175, we learn over the 8 common propositional argument evaluations. Every argument
must be valid in order to pass the Proper Form Test. In the cases of fallacies, not every premise will
support the conclusion making that argument invalid. The first argument we see is Denying the
Disjunct, which involves two statements, in two forms, which can be explained through four forms.
The first form is If S1 or S2, not S1, therefore S2 (pg. 164). The second form is If S1 or S2, Tf S1
(pg.164). This means that if the premise denies the disjunct, then the conclusion is false. We see this
form because a disjunct is when a premise denies the conclusion. The second argument we see is the
Fallacy of Affirming the inclusive Disjunct, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a disjunction is false, because of the alternatives presented then it is considered a false dichotomy.
(pg.168). We are now presented with Affirming the Antecedent, whose form is If S1, then S2, S1, tf,
S2 (Pg.170). This is shown because if the first statement affirms or supports the second statement,
then it affirms the antecedent. The statements do not contradict or deny each other. The next argument
we see is the Fallacy: Denying the antecedent, which is when premise is conditional, but it denies the
antecedent. The antecedent is the part of the statement we learned through facts of background
knowledge, but if S1 denies S2, then the argument as a whole is invalid (pg.172). Denying the
Consequent is not a fallacy, but it occurs when one premise is conditional, but it denies the
consequent. Because the consequent is denied, then we know that the conclusion is denied as well.
(pg.173). The form is If S1, then S2, not S2, therefore, not S1. (pg.173) We know this through the
proper form and true premise test, because the form indicates that it is invalid and the premises are
false, so it fails the true premise test. The last argument we see is Tri Conditional. This argument
differs from the other arguments, because we are now using three statements to confirm if the premise
are true. The form is If S1, then S2, If S2, then S3, therefore If S1,

Introduction
Mount Everest is commonly know as the highest mountain on earth located in Nepal and Tibet in the
Mahalangur mountain range. With a peak of 8,848 meters or 29,029 feet above sea level, Mount
Everest is the location of the international border between China and Nepal neighboring with peaks
such as Lhoste, Nuptse and Changtse.
Rock Descriptions
The rocks that comprise Mount Everst are subdivided into three formations, each separated from one
another by low angle faults or detachments. The three formations consist of sedimentary and
metamorphic rocks and are the Qomolangma Formation, the North Col Formation and the Rongbuk
Formation. The Qomolangma formation is the top peak of the mountain ... Show more content on

The portion of the Qomolangma formation that is between 8,200 to the top of 8,600 is called the
yellow band. The reason it s called the yellow band is because of the Cambrian deposit and marble its
made up of which resembles a yellow pigment. In the North Col formation, mudstone, limestone and
sandstone are imbedded within each other as a result of the metamorphic stage. The base of this
formation is referred to as the Lhoste detachment and is a low angle normal fault. About 24 million
years ago when the Indian and the Asian planes collided, the Indian plane subducted as a result. From
this the Indian plateau was made which thus created the metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. We can
find these rocks faulted towards the south in an upward motion primarily due to the Cenozoic collision
of the two continents. The Many sills and dikes intrude the rocks in this formation as previously
mentioned as the Higher Himalayan leucogranite, which is formed by partial melting of
Paleoproterozoic to Ordovician high grade metasedimentary rocks. This melting inhibited the creation
of the Rongbuk formation by the pressure caused by the collision that forced the rocks into a
downward then back up direction. The heat of the melting under sea level then pushed the rocks to the
surface of the southern

Rebellion In John Locke s The Second Treatise Of Government
In John Locke s The Second Treatise of Government he argues that under certain circumstances the
people have a right to rebel against powers of authority that assume this influence in unjust ways. The
question of the right of rebellion is an interesting dilemma. In a particular society, should the people
reserve the right to revolt against the established order? Is this an effective means of restraining a
tyrant? Who knows the best course of action for a particular society: the people or the ruler? This

nature within all humans. I think Locke advocates for a sovereign with limited powers to impose on
arguments against him. Locke s theory of a sovereign power urges for peace, security and protection
of a person s primary rights which cannot be more unbearable than the state of nature. Should it be the
case that the contractual civil society is as unbearable as the state of nature people would merely revert
out of the sovereign s power back into their own. In Locke s argument this contractual power with a
human sovereign who is capable of faults in my opinion prones the subjects to more abuse. I agree
with Locke s idea on limitations to the powers of a sovereign but disagree to the limitations put on the
people. Locke holds a persistent limitations that the people need to be controlled in order to have a
civil society. I understand this argument but recognize that it is the people

Summary Of Immunizations
The article, people should not be allowed to refuse vaccination by, Ronald Bailey. The thesis is,
vaccines have declined the mortality and suffering caused by infectious diseases. The article mostly
stresses how having vaccinations can save many peoples life. It also goes on to say peple who do not

a very good arugment because he does not have all the facts to prove his argument. The general

Christ Community Church Essay
Millions of children are waiting to be adopted by a family from the ages of 2 months old until they are
released at the age of eighteen. Many of these children have little to no known affiliation or influence
of religion. Christ Community Church had interacted with more than sixty outside organizations to
help raise financial aid and encourage religious influence in adoptive and pre adoptive families of
orphans. The Christ Community Church builds its credibility with the information it provides and the
organizations that are affiliated, using a strong appeal to emotion by showing helpless orphans, the ad
also provides a logical appeal by giving background information about the organization providing a
website for further information.
The ad is engulfed in black and white to induce the sadness of two African american orphans wrapped
around each other, as if they did not not trust anyone. The founders and pastors leading this
organization are shown at the top of the page with the rank in which they are held. Additional

Emotions are a leading cause to influence in many ads that are shown. Emotions bring out the
thoughtful and caring side of people, making them are more willing to help those in need. The image
of two young kids produces the emotions sympathy for children that do not have parents and have no
source of faith. This invokes a sorrow feeling inside the audience and creates an emotional uprise in
the ad. These children have nothing to call their own, many of them feel unwanted and unloved.
Adoption of an orphan and the adoption of Christ in this child can greatly increase the feeling of value
and acceptance this child has. By appealing to the audience s emotions, the church has an upper hand
in the success of the organization. These emotions are the primary factor leading people to make their

Alfred Hitchcock Film Analysis
I ve gone on the record as saying I like Alfred Hitchcock s films, though I only really love one so far (
Psycho ). My admiration for Hitchcock, along with the number of his films I love, increased after we
watched his beloved Vertigo in my class. It may have barely surpassed Psycho as my favorite
Hitchcock film. This film stars James Stewart as John Scottie Ferguson, a San Francisco detective
forced to quit the force after a traumatizing event causes him to develop acrophobia. He soon takes up
a case as a sort of private eye, however, when an old acquaintance from college asks him to
investigate the strange habits of his wife (Kim Novak). Stewart obliges, with dire consequences. One
of the surprises in this film, for me, was Stewart as Scottie, who performed excellently. I like Jimmy
Stewart, but I ve never been as enamored with him as some movie buffs. That has changed some, as I
think this is his best performance I ve seen. He makes you care for his character and believe his
motivations and feelings for the first portion of the movie. He struggles a bit in the emotional scenes,
but he still succeeds in evoking our sympathy. By the end of the film, his performance takes a
remarkable turn and he becomes genuinely disturbing. It s brilliant. Kim Novak is also great as
Madeleine Elster, the wife Stewart s character follows. She has a creepy, disturbing quality about her
during that first part of the movie that works quite well. Later, her performance takes a turn,

Alcohol Abuse And Alcoholism Abuse
The alcohol abuse definition is similar to alcoholism in that in both cases alcohol is causing harm to
the drinker s life and those around them. The difference is that those who abuse alcohol, but are not
yet alcoholics, typically can put some limitations on their drinking and they have not yet become
physically addicted to alcohol. The key to the alcohol abuse definition is not in the amount of alcohol
consumed but on how it affects an individual. Alcohol abuse is a psychiatric diagnosis in which there
is recurring harmful use of ethanol despite its negative consequence. In 2013 it was reclassified as
alcohol use disorder along with alcohol dependence. There are two types of alcohol abuse, those who
have anti social and pleasure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Get hooked on drinking to stave off withdrawal symptoms. Also, younger family members tend to
mimic the alcohol use patterns of their parents, siblings, and other family members. Peers also
influence drinking behavior. Some studies shows that regardless of family history of alcoholism, a
lack of parental monitoring, severe and recurrent family conflict and poor parent child relationships
can contribute to alcohol abuse in adolescents. Children with conduct skills as well as those with little
connection to parents, other family members, or school may be at an increased risk for alcohol abuse.
Before you seek treatment the first and most important part of the process is that of admitting that you
have a problem. Once you have done so then the next step is help and support. Beating an alcohol
addiction is a long and painful process. It requires much more than sheer willpower: it requires you to
make changes to every aspect of your life and some of that can be more difficult to do than others. But
help and support is available so you don t need to do this on your own. Treatments for alcohol
addiction are quite varied because there are multiple perspectives for the condition itself. Those who
approach alcoholism as a medical condition or disease recommend differing treatments than, for
instance, those who approach the condition as one of social choice. Most treatments focus on helping
people discontinue their alcohol intake,

The Role of Nick Bottom and the Significance of His Portrayal
The Role of Nick Bottom and the Significance of His Portrayal The significance and role of Nick
Bottom is made prominent by Shakespeare. This is due to the fact that the play he is in is relevant not
just to the text, but also to Shakespeare in terms of his personal life and in historical context. Nick
Bottom is part of the mechanicals who are a group of six men who meet to rehearse and later perform
a play. Five of the mechanicals are performers and one is a narrator. Nick Bottom plays Pyramus in
this play. It is based around two characters that fall in love; however circumstances prevent them from
seeing each other. The play is to be performed for Theseus and Hippolyta at their wedding. The ...

As a result a law was passed preventing acting from taking place on the streets, as outside theatre
groups were of a poor standard. Shakespeare used this criticism in order to show that he didn t look
highly on amateur acting performing his art . This is emphasised by Shakespeare by the way in which
he portrays the mechanicals, with their incompetent acting skills. In Act four, scene two, Bottom has a
nightmare, it is the way that he deals with this nightmare which is not only crucial to understanding
the character of Bottom, but also to the social commentaries that Shakespeare is making. He shows his
fear but then turns it into a ballad, this illustrates the power of the text to take problems and fears and
convert them into comedy. This is Shakespeare s commentary on the nature of his work and its utility,
of taking fear and making hilarity; yet another occasion when the character of Bottom shows his
significance to the play. There are several reasons why the play performed by the mechanicals is
significant, to the overall play, as well as providing an element of comedy. This is shown by the
resemblance of the characters between the plays. Pyramus and Thisbe face parental disapproval in the
play within a play, similarly to Hermia and Lysander. Both plays also have a recurrent theme of
romantic confusion; Pyramus believes that Thisbe has been killed by the lion, and the

Terrorism And Domestic Terrorism
The idea of terrorism is to incite terror of a government by intimidation or coercion. For example, the
Weathermen, they used bombs to blow up symbols of the United States to instill terror into the
government, to get Americans out of Vietnam War. However, the jihadist of al Qaeda crashed two
planes into the World Trade Center to provoke fear into the US by showing weakness in our private
transportation system and changing the lives of Americans. Nevertheless, the terror act of 9/11 has
people preparing for more international terrorist attacks, but in the last 16 years the only terrorist
attacks in the US have been domestic terrorism. This fear of international terrorism was a hot topic
during the 2016 Presidential Election, where one party wanted to ban a religious group of people from
entering the US. Yet, domestic terror attacks are by far more many than international ones: in our data
set, only about 14% of the almost 82,000 terror incidents were international terror events (Liebert,
Kokakos, Schulze, 2011, p. 1). This shows that citizens do not know the different between
international terrorism and domestic terrorism, because if they did, there would more focus on
domestic terrorism even though terrorism is so rare compared to other crimes (Newman Clark, 2008).
I am going to discuss the difference between international terrorism and domestic terrorism.
International terrorism has a specific definition as described in 18 as code 2331. For instance, in the

The Piano Lesson
There are many lessons to be taught in the world some are learned through experience some are
learned in times of struggle others are passed down from generation to generation. Often times in
literature the author seeks to teach you a lesson or a set of moral values throughout the passage. In the
book The Piano Lesson there are many different lessons and themes to be explored. In the story each
character is relatable. People of today s society could stand to learn the lessons that each character
brings. The story The Piano Lesson should continue to be a part of the English 12 curriculum because
of lessons that can be retained from the play which are woman s place in society in the past from

The second lesson that can be learned from Berniece goes beyond the importance of family it is the
importance of ancestral history. The reason Berniece is so attached to the piano is the family history
tied to it. When her grandparents were freed from slavery her grandfather died over stealing it. Then
even past that her mother was obsessed with playing the piano and cleaned it everyday. She taught
Berniece how to play piano on it and her mother used to say it filled her with great joy to hear
Berniece play. But, after her mother died Berniece never played the piano again. In this scene Boy
Willie yet again is trying to sell the piano. Berniece begins to defend saying, Look at this piano. Mama
Ola polished this piano with her tears for seventeen years. For seventeen she rubbed on it till her hands
bled. Then she rubbed the blood in. This is part of the reason Berniece is so attached to the piano
which is the reason she will never allow Boy Willie to have the piano. Berniece s love for her
ancestral history is what causes her to be so attached to piano and why she will always defend it. She
at one point pulls a gun out on Boy Willie and says he won t take the piano over her dead body. In this
scene which is basically the ending of the story as everything around her is caving in. Berniece has an
epiphany to play the piano to cleanse all the surroundings of all trouble. The story goes, It is in this
moment, from somewhere old, that Berniece realizes what she must do. She crosses to the piano. She
begins to play. The song is found piece by piece. It is an old urge to song that is both a commandment
and a plea. With repetition it gains strength. It is intended as an exorcism and a dressing for battle. A
rustle of wind blowing across two continents. What ends up happening is it solves all the problems
around her. It almost seems to

How Did Edgar Allan Poe Impact On Poetry
Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe began his career as a poet, and collected or corrected poems throughout his career. A
quality of enjoyable sounds can be found in poems that readers also consider serious. However, these
elements can also exist with themes that are more typical of the Romantic Movement, such as dreams
and nightmares Poe handled this through images designed to show undecided states of awareness
represented as lakes, seas, waves, and vapors.
Nearly all Poe s criticism on poetry was written for the magazines for which he worked. Although the
pieces were published occasionally, they reflect a remarkably logical, self conscious view of poetry
and of the creative process. Poe wrote quot; The Philosophy of Composition quot; to ... Show more

Although it has exaggerated effects and flaws, quot; The Raven quot; which was written in 1845 is Poe
s best known poem and one of the most famous works in American literature. It treats his favorite
theme, the death of a beautiful woman. This theme also appears in quot; The Sleeper quot; written in
1841 and quot;Ulalume quot; written in 1847. In all three poems, Poe chose detailed musical effects.
Poe believed his art should be looked at internationally, rather than nationally or regionally. He was
usually known at the time with the South. He did not defend his region s politics or social customs,
like other southern writers. His lyricism was common to southern poets. Raised in Virginia, Poe
sometimes was looked at as the southern gentleman, even if they see excelling regionalism in his
work.
Among Poe s poetic output, about a dozen poems are remarkable for their perfect literary construction
and for their haunting themes and sections. In The Raven, which was written in 1845, the narrator is
weighed down by depressions of death. Poe s unexpected handling of rhythm and sound is particularly
shown in The Bells which was written in 1849 which was a poem that seems to repeat with the ringing
of sharp instruments, and The Sleeper which was written in 1831, which copies the state of
drowsiness. Lenore, which was written in 1831, and Annabel Lee, which was written in 1849, are
verse expressions of the death of a beautiful

12 Minor Prophets Of The Old Testament
One of the 12 minor prophets of the Old Testament, Haggai, played an essential role in the rebuilding
of the temple of the Lord. Although we are not given the specific details about when it is written or
who wrote the book of Haggai, it is often assumed that Haggai himself wrote it. Scholars also presume
that it was written around 520 B.C. due to the specifics of the time period given in the book itself. It is
a rather short book, only consisting of two chapters, and exact dates are given as to when the Lord
spoke to Haggai regarding the rebuilding of the temple. For example, Haggai opens up by saying that
the Lord first spoke to Haggai on the first day of the sixth month of the rule of Darius. The messages
from the Lord to Haggai were directed to the governor, Zerubbabel, the high priest, Joshua,a and
sometimes to all the people of Judah. These messages usually focus on the apathy of the people to
rebuild the temple of the Lord.
The people of God during The Book of Haggai are avoiding rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem. The
first temple was built by Solomon, the son of David. David initially wanted to build the temple, but
God gave the task to Solomon. The Babylonians led by Nebuchadnezzar marched into Jerusalem and
destroyed this first temple of God. The temple was to be rebuilt, but it was being avoided largely
during the time of Haggai. Consequently, God spoke to Haggai and had him relay messages to his
people. God started by asking the people how they live in their

Rhetorical Analysis Of Dave Barry
Dave Barry is a colonists who tries to amuse his reader with his topic of choice and writing. He writes
this essay about our traffic problems and how they are causing problems now a days and we need to
work together and find some way to fix them. In this he used tons of hyperboles to get his point across
about how bad our traffic problem is in our country and how good it is in some other countries. He
also uses a sarcastic tone throughout his essay to show that the problem is bad and to explain just how
annoying and bad the problem is. He also uses an allegory to tell the story of why people get around in
Greece so quickly. The author uses rhetorical strategies to get his point across in a humorous way.
He uses hyperboles to exaggerate how bad the problem is to make it ultimately funny. He makes a
joke about people in North Dakota meeting at an intersection and not moving for days on end because
they couldn t decide who should go first, since they are both too polite. This is a hyperbole because no

Negative Effects Of Urban Sprawl
roduction: Urban sprawl is the rapid expansion in urban areas and includes the migration of the
population shifting from rural areas to urban. According to research from the David Suzuki
foundation, 80% of the canadian population now lives in urban areas. There are many factors and
causes that contribute to why this urbanization and rapid change is occurring. Many of the reasons
include the desire to live in the city where there are better living conditions, more job and education
opportunities. Also, the lack of planning a city more efficiently is one of the most common reasons for
urban sprawl. The more the population grows, the more trouble it begins to have on the people and
environment. Urban sprawl comes with many direct and indirect negative effects. The overpopulation
of humans means the more use of vehicles, which causes issues like air and water pollution, which has
severe effects on the environment and human health. The overconsumption of water is also very
serious issue that is linked to the over population and growth in urban areas. The number of people
living in an area affects how much water is being consumed and how much of that water is being used
efficiently. Lastly, the use of more land due to the high demand of development, and that affecting the
wildlife and nature. Increased Pollution:
Urban sprawl causes the population in urban areas to become larger, however, this comes with a cost.

Meaningful Song Let s Get It Started By Skillet
Meaningful Song
Everyone in the world listens to music, no matter what genre it is. We all have our own certain
preference. Certain songs we listen to can bring back a memory from our past. The memory can be
happy or sad. The two songs that are my most favorite are Let s Get It Started by the Black Eyed Peas,
and American Noise by Skillet. These songs bring back very special memories from my childhood.
My first memory, come from the song Let s Get It Started. My memory starts out when I was in third
grade. We always had a Valentine s Day dance. My friends as well as I would always have an exciting
time dancing and singing. Our school secretary would make sure to play the most popular songs of
that time or songs that were not too old. She played this specific song, just listening to it, it had
become my favorite song that I had ever heard that whole night at the dance. Whenever I would listen

They trigger two happy memories that I would love to relive. The meaning behind the song Let s Get
It Started is when the band wants to start a party; they want to have fun all night long, just like how
my friends along with myself were when we were at the dance. The last song, American Noise , brings
a lot of sentimental value to me. I think it means that no one should be afraid to live their life, to love
people, and be positive about the life you live. To conclude my thoughts and opinions, everyone can
listen to any kind of music. Music can cause you to remember a memory from your past. Listening to
that can trigger the memory because you listened to that exact song on that day you had the event. You
remember that memory because the song helped you to remember. Music is amazing, from the top ten

The Federal Government And Education System
The Federal Government and Education Article 1, Section 8, of the Constitution declares that the US
Government is responsible to tax the people for the general welfare of its citizens . Under this clause,
the Government has taken the responsibility of education; not to micro manage the education system,
but instead to increase the efficiency of it. In the past, states and local governments have maintained
primary control of the education system, which has led to many problems. The differences in
curriculum, quality, and administering as well as other aspects of public education are vastly different
around the country, which has actually inhibited America s ability to succeed. Many of these issues
could be resolved with a shift in power in terms of who is controlling the country s academic system.
The Federal Government should have a significant amount of regulating responsibility in America s
education system, because it standardizes the quality of education across the country, presents an
opportunity of equal education for all students, and regulates teachers. With the Federal Government
regulating education, a national standard of schooling will become available. This means that there
will be set expectations for how well a student does in school as well as standards for a quality
education across the US the education on one side of the country will be exactly the same as on the
other side. Having a national academic standard is important because standards spell out

Essay about Celiac Disease
Celiac disease (CD) is marked by an inability to absorb gluten. Gluten, also known as glutenin, is a
protein found in wheat, rye, barley, spelt, and triticale (Turner and Torkos). The problem with the
disease is that it is an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system responds to gluten by
damaging the small intestine (Turner and Torkos). This damage to the small intestine is characterized
by villous atrophy in people who are genetically susceptible (Parnell and Ciclitira). The disorder may
latent for years and then suddenly cause horrendous symptoms that may be misdiagnosed as irritable
bowel syndrome. There is danger in a misdiagnosis because many high fiber foods used to help

At her advanced age, Florence s doctor decided to inject plastic into the bones to provide stable
strength and to ensure that future breaks would not occur. Weeks later, she had a scope done, checking
the small intestine for damage to the mucosa and microvilli. The ending result was a diagnosis of
celiac and a decision that she must be put on a gluten free diet for the rest of her natural life
(Florence). With celiac disease, many negative outcomes are possible and many more are probable.
Further research into celiac disease substantiates the belief that further research, public awareness, and
knowledge are imperative in discovering how to deal with the disease and how to spread awareness of
this very serious problem. The small intestine is lined with microvilli (sing. microvillus) and mucosa
that entrap and absorb the vital nutrients the body needs to sustain healthy function. With celiac
patients, consuming gluten containing foods causes the breakdown of these microvilli and the mucosa,
causing malnutrition through the inability to absorb the necessary vitamins and minerals. As celiac is
an autoimmune disorder, it stands to reason that the antibodies are attacking the small intestine and are
therefore able to be detected in the blood. This reasoning has been discovered to be true and has

  • 2. Analyse The Importance Of Early Intervention In Children I have learnt that language can be cognitive, material or social (Gee Hayes, 2011). Some view language as a set of social conventions, shared by a group of people about how to communicate such as classroom or sporting rules, often supplied in books and followed by people. Children don t read books so social conventions need to be taught by modelling behaviour and communication. With the exception of severe disabilities or social problems, all humans acquire language as a core of basic property of their humanity called vernacular which is used in everyday life Gee Hayes (2011, p. 8). I believe that this is why early intervention is so important; not to label a child; but to better support them for further education. Most humans can learn ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Maltese Falcon The Maltese Falcon, was not only a detective film, but a film that displayed many different aspects of the female and the male character in the movie. The film was more than a story, but a story that explored the ideas of the detective genre and the different characteristics of femininity and masculinity. It also brought forth subjects of sexual desires and the greediness of money. The characters and the visual motifs in the film contributed to the developing of the plot and assisted in creating a more detective and gender oriented film. In the film, The Maltese Falcon, the role of men and women are portrayed in different ways in the film to show the distinct functions of masculinity and femininity between the characters. Sam said ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have a tendency to seek men when they are in need, or only when they are in trouble. Her character follows through with the dark past theme. Since she has deceived him many times, it was hard for Sam to believe what words that came out of her mouth. Sam said to Brigid, If you were actually as innocent as you pretend to be, we would never get anywhere. She wasn t able to receive his trust, so in many ways, this showed that women could not be trusted and that it portrayed women in a lower view. Haven t you tried to buy my loyalty with money and nothing else? This shows that she was desperate and willing enough to receive his trust through the exchange of money. What else can I buy you with? Towards the end of the film, it showed how hard she tried to convince him that she still loved him so that she wouldn t go to jail. I would have come back to you soon, from the very first instant I saw you, I knew. Through this you could figure out the true personality of Brigid and how she worked. Brigid wasn t the only one who tried to trick a person into something, Sam lied as well in order to find out the truth. • 4. Missed Oil Change Essay An important part of a car s maintenance schedule is an engine oil change. An engine s life can be shortened faster with missed oil changes. The primary function of oil is to cut friction. Oil changes should not ever be put off. Oil that is dirty or not there does not allow a vehicle to function properly. The damages can be costly, because it can be irreversible without an engine overhaul. It is a relatively simple service that should be done when it is due. It is cheaper to buy oil than to replace an engine. However, it is confusing when an oil change is needed. The recommendations by quick lube shops speak to a wide audience; address cars of every age, every mileage, and all have different maintenance schedules. People have been convinced to stick to the 3,000 mile changes by these companies who are strong advocates driven by profit. These recommendations are not necessarily the ones your car needs, because there is not a one size fits all solution. Most people sense their cars require an oil change when they see the low oil light come on. The light is an indicator that the oil level is low and is losing its ability to function properly. By then damage is already occurring to the engine. Others go by the standard guideline for an oil change after 3,000 to 3,500 miles. This rule is old and no longer applies to cars purchased ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The oil intervals vary by engines and manufacturers. Oil change interval guidelines have been designed to keep a car running in good condition. Manufacturers make recommendations based on mild or severe driving conditions. This information can be found on the owner s manual or in the manufacturer s website. Maintenance indicators can measure the oil quality to determine life expectancy with an accurate assessment. The owner s manual should be the main guide if a car is not equipped with a maintenance light or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Early-Life Disadvantages The literature on environmental factors and their effect on health and life expectancy is extensive. Studies of mortality have found that childhood health and socioeconomic context are important predictors, often regardless of adult experiences (Motez and Hayward 2014). One study examines whether early life disadvantages both shorten lives and increase the number of years lived with functional impairment (Motez and Hayward 2014). These early life disadvantages could be health, socio economic, or environmental related. Within levels of educational accomplishment, adults from underprivileged childhoods lived fewer years, and spent a greater portion of life impaired compared with adults from advantaged childhoods (Motez and Hayward 2014). Higher levels of education did not improve the health consequences of disadvantaged childhoods. However, because education had a better impact on health than childhood socioeconomic setting, adults from disadvantaged childhoods who achieved high education levels often had a length of life that was similar to those from privileged childhoods who achieved low education levels. (Motez and Hayward 2014). Recent research has identified a trend that supports the research of Motez and Hayward. Historically, there has been a penalty associated with urban places, also known as the rural mortality penalty (James 2014). However, in recent decades, a reversal has occurred (James 2014). Beginning in the mid 1980s, rural and urban mortality rates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this document I have put together a series of recommendation that I believe will help the process become a lot less stressful. My recommendation will cover the following areas Organizational goals Forecasted demographic changes Workforce diversity objectives Organizational branding Methods for recruiting Candidates Methods for screening Candidates Methods for selecting Candidates Organizational Goals As specified in the past by Mr. Bradley Stonefield goals for his limousine business is as followed he requires 25 employees, with an anticipated revenue of $50,000 in the first year, and expected yearly revenue growth of 5%. Allowing Mr. Stonefield to meet his organizational goals. • 7. Artificial Intelligence Is The Dominant Theory Artificial intelligence is intelligence exhibited by machines or software. Artificial intelligence also studies how people create computers that are capable or preforming an intelligent behavior, like a human (Business Dictionary). To back up artificial intelligence, there is functionalism. Hilary Putman developed functionalism in the 1970 s, which is still the dominant theory in todays society. Functionalism states that having a mind does not require a brain and mental states can be realized by other kinds of substances. Mental states are also defined by their functions. In other words, functionalism is where ones causes and effects define the views of their mental states. An example can be defined as being in pain, which can cause ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dualism is just a substance and it stated that the mind is made up of other things rather than just atoms. Where materialism states the opposite. It showed that there were no such things as immaterial substances, which meant there were no souls. Materialism was the simpler theory because there was no mystery and it assumed the least. For that, Ockham s razor denied the objection to the mind body dualism because it assumed too much. Along with that, materialism was able to prove that without having a soul, computers can still be intelligent like a human. Functionalism was an influence that made people believe in the possibility that machines can be intelligent. It also identifies mental states by what they do rather than what they are made of and there in that statement, the mind body dualism is denied by functionalism. Perhaps mental states are more a matter of software, like running a program on your computer (Rosen et al., 355). It is denied not only because there is not enough information to back it up, but because functionalism says that beliefs, desires and emotions fit into the larger system since those types of mental states must be realized by something else other than by what it already is. Like anything else in philosophy, there are always objections to someone s theory. An objection or the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Effects Of Heroin Abuse Heroin use has steadily increased post Vietnam to current day, although it has seen a sharp climb in recent years. This sudden spark in heroin addiction is termed the Heroin epidemic. The Heroin epidemic can affect all members of society, and it does not discriminate between race, income level or gender; the government fights the war on drugs but the community and mass media are vital in the total annihilation of addiction and the epidemic. Many Heroin users first interacted with opioids, such as painkillers which is a close relative to heroin, but the cost was too much, so they turned to a cheap and destructive drug, Heroin. Heroin inherits its addictiveness from the opioid family. Opioids are extremely addictive painkillers such as OxyContin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The drug is a part of the highly addictive opioid family, which are used to make painkillers needed by many Americans. The issue is that the many Americans who have used painkillers, whether prescribed or taken illegally, are forty times more likely to try heroin ( Today s Heroin Epidemic ). The epidemic is hard to control because it effects everyone. Not one gender, race or economic level is considered safe from the abuse of this substance. The government has been attempting to end the high levels of abuse in America since the late sixties, but old methods proved costly and ineffective. The transitioning of viewing heroin addiction as a crime to mental health has reaped some benefits. Facilities now a days have made break throughs in assuring better futures for addicts by proving them with proper treatment and arming them with correct knowledge of how to combat their disease. Heroin has sparked an important discussion in society involving media, race, sex and economic status, and the epidemic forced the federal government to act accordingly, which allowed communities to properly react and try to lower addiction. Though the rise of heroin use will most likely continue, the epidemic has to eventually come to an end; whether the government makes a final push to eliminate drug use completely or police enforcement cuts down on dealers, the epidemic eventually ... • 9. Earthquake Intensities Earthquake Intensities Earthquakes are a marvel of geology. When faults under the surface of the earth move, the ground moves. These earthquakes can be very mild, barely registering or they can be horrific with far reaching consequences. Scientists have become fascinated with the study of earthquakes for centuries but it is only in recent years that quantified data has been collected and analyzed by scientists regarding these geologic phenomena. Before the invention of the Richter scale, less accurate means of measuring an earthquake s intensity were used by geological scientists. Until the early 1900s, earthquakes could only be measured after the earthquake had ended and then only approximations could be made. The first attempt at scientifically measuring an earthquake s intensity was performed in the middle of the nineteenth century. In Italy in 1857, the after effects of an earthquake were quantified (Lutgen 2011, page 179). A map was created to show the comparable damages that were found in different areas. This allowed geographers to make maps which would show the areas of highest intensity and how intensity lessened in surrounding areas. Although this was helpful, it only showed comparative intensities, not quantified data. In 1902, Giuseppe Mercalli developed what was called the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale. An American version of the Mercalli system was incorporated in 1931. This system judged intensity of earthquakes based upon the ways California ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Helping lepers and giving to the poor, he definitely had the right to say, Not hurting our humble brethren is our first duty to them. He never hurt a soul, even animals fell into his care. Francis, a Roman Catholic friar and preacher, lived up to his saying. Above the treetops he watched beautifully feathered birds, calling them his little brothers and sisters. He treated all with respect, building others up for the glory of God. This proverb may be confusing to some, but Saint Francis did not mean it to be. Gently, this saying was directed to wealthier healthier people, saying that they should help those who are not as prosperous. An easier way to think of this quote is, Do not hurt those less fortunate than us for that is what they desire most. This meaning that we should never tear down or hurt others just because they are less fortunate. Loving and considerate, this saying tells us not to be hateful or abusive to the impoverished, Francis is gently lecturing more fortunate people to help those who need food more than they do. Devoid of a warrant and authentic probable cause, an officer cannot go into a home and search it. The Fourth Amendment protects against unreasonable searches and seizures and enforces both a meticulousness and probable cause requirement for issuing warrants. The fourth amendment seems to be fitting for the early immigrants. Discrimination is a very serious problem for society even back to date. People do discriminate against each other whether their actions are intentional or happen due to the lack of knowledge or elaborate sociological triggers as well as societal misconceptions and personal obliviousness. Essay on Federalist 10 Summary Summary Analysis of Federalist #10 Summary: Madison begins perhaps the most famous of the Federalist papers by stating that one of the strongest arguments in favor of the Constitution is the fact that it establishes a government capable of controlling the violence and damage caused by factions. Madison defines that factions are groups of people who gather together to protect and promote their special economic interests and political opinions. Although these factions are at odds with each other, they frequently work against the public interests, and infringe upon the rights of others. Both supporters and opponents of the plan are concerned with the political instability produced by rival factions. The state governments have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To Madison, there are only two ways to control a faction: one, to remove its causes and the second to control its effects. The first is impossible. There are only two ways to remove the causes of a faction: destroy liberty or give every citizen the same opinions, passions, and interests. Destroying liberty is a cure worse then the disease itself, and the second is impracticable. The causes of factions are thus part of the nature of man and we must deal with their effects and accept their existence. The government created by the Constitution controls the damage caused by such factions. The framers established a representative form of government, a government in which the many elect the few who govern. Pure or direct democracies (countries in which all the citizens participate directly in making the laws) cannot possibly control factious conflicts. This is because the strongest and largest faction dominates, and there is no way to protect weak factions against the actions of an obnoxious individual or a strong majority. Direct democracies cannot effectively protect personal and property rights and have always been characterized by conflict. If the new plan of government is adopted, Madison hopes that the men elected to office will be wise and good men the best of America. Theoretically, those who govern should be the least likely to sacrifice the public good to temporary condition, but the opposite might ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Brought to life by King Louis XIV, otherwise known as the Sun King, his reign of absolutism directly affected the architecture and design of the Palace, turning it into a lasting symbol for absolutism. Louis XIV had the longest reign in European history, ruling from 1643 to 1715 for a total of 72 years. He was born on September 5th, 1638, succeeding his father on the throne at the age of four. Many feared that Louis XIV was a bit too immature to assume the throne, including his mother, but he took his role as an absolute monarch quite seriously, bordering on excessively. Rather than rely on high nobility and princes, Louis called on ministers from nobles of newer aristocratic families. If any one were to step out of line, Louis had them arrested and imprisoned. For example, when his minister of finances, Nicholas Fouquet, began to boast about his authority and wealth, Fouquet was immediately incarcerated. ( Louis XIV: Absolutism, Steingrad) Religion was another source of tension. Louis XIV did not want Protestants practicing their faith in Catholic France. His motto in regards to religion was one king, one law, one faith, encapsulating the ideals of absolutism. He believed that the existence of the Protestants undermined his authority, and began attempting to entice them to conversion by offering rewards. Eventually, he moved to forced conversions. Louis XIV was a proponent of Gallicanism, which is the belief that the monarchy held certain rights over the Catholic Church, regardless of the papal powers. Pope Innocent XI denounced King Louis XIV and in response, Louis ordered the French clergy to establish the Declaration of Gallican Liberties. The document maintained that the pope s authority was limited to spiritual matters and that even in spiritual matters, the pope was subject to the decisions of a general council. In the cases of fallacies, not every premise will support the conclusion making that argument invalid. The first argument we see is Denying the Disjunct, which involves two statements, in two forms, which can be explained through four forms. The first form is If S1 or S2, not S1, therefore S2 (pg. 164). The second form is If S1 or S2, Tf S1 (pg.164). This means that if the premise denies the disjunct, then the conclusion is false. We are now presented with Affirming the Antecedent, whose form is If S1, then S2, S1, tf, S2 (Pg.170). This is shown because if the first statement affirms or supports the second statement, then it affirms the antecedent. The statements do not contradict or deny each other. The next argument we see is the Fallacy: Denying the antecedent, which is when premise is conditional, but it denies the antecedent. The antecedent is the part of the statement we learned through facts of background knowledge, but if S1 denies S2, then the argument as a whole is invalid (pg.172). Denying the Consequent is not a fallacy, but it occurs when one premise is conditional, but it denies the consequent. Because the consequent is denied, then we know that the conclusion is denied as well. (pg.173). The form is If S1, then S2, not S2, therefore, not S1. (pg.173) We know this through the proper form and true premise test, because the form indicates that it is invalid and the premises are false, so it fails the true premise test. In the North Col formation, mudstone, limestone and sandstone are imbedded within each other as a result of the metamorphic stage. In the book The Piano Lesson there are many different lessons and themes to be explored. In the story each character is relatable. People of today s society could stand to learn the lessons that each character brings. The story The Piano Lesson should continue to be a part of the English 12 curriculum because of lessons that can be retained from the play which are woman s place in society in the past from Berniece, The importance of family by Boy Willie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second lesson that can be learned from Berniece goes beyond the importance of family it is the importance of ancestral history. The reason Berniece is so attached to the piano is the family history tied to it. When her grandparents were freed from slavery her grandfather died over stealing it. Then even past that her mother was obsessed with playing the piano and cleaned it everyday. She taught Berniece how to play piano on it and her mother used to say it filled her with great joy to hear Berniece play. But, after her mother died Berniece never played the piano again. In this scene Boy Willie yet again is trying to sell the piano. Berniece begins to defend saying, Look at this piano. Mama Ola polished this piano with her tears for seventeen years. For seventeen she rubbed on it till her hands bled. Then she rubbed the blood in. This is part of the reason Berniece is so attached to the piano which is the reason she will never allow Boy Willie to have the piano. Berniece s love for her ancestral history is what causes her to be so attached to piano and why she will always defend it. She at one point pulls a gun out on Boy Willie and says he won t take the piano over her dead body. In this scene which is basically the ending of the story as everything around her is caving in. Berniece has an epiphany to play the piano to cleanse all the surroundings of all trouble. The story goes, It is in this moment, from somewhere old, that Berniece realizes what she must do. She crosses to the piano. She begins to play. The song is found piece by piece. It is an old urge to song that is both a commandment and a plea. With repetition it gains strength. It is intended as an exorcism and a dressing for battle. A rustle of wind blowing across two continents. What ends up happening is it solves all the problems around her. It almost seems to ... • 29. How Did Edgar Allan Poe Impact On Poetry Edgar Allan Poe Edgar Allan Poe began his career as a poet, and collected or corrected poems throughout his career. A quality of enjoyable sounds can be found in poems that readers also consider serious. However, these elements can also exist with themes that are more typical of the Romantic Movement, such as dreams and nightmares Poe handled this through images designed to show undecided states of awareness represented as lakes, seas, waves, and vapors. Nearly all Poe s criticism on poetry was written for the magazines for which he worked. Although the pieces were published occasionally, they reflect a remarkably logical, self conscious view of poetry and of the creative process. Poe wrote quot; The Philosophy of Composition quot; to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it has exaggerated effects and flaws, quot; The Raven quot; which was written in 1845 is Poe s best known poem and one of the most famous works in American literature. It treats his favorite theme, the death of a beautiful woman. This theme also appears in quot; The Sleeper quot; written in 1841 and quot;Ulalume quot; written in 1847. In all three poems, Poe chose detailed musical effects. Poe believed his art should be looked at internationally, rather than nationally or regionally. He was usually known at the time with the South. He did not defend his region s politics or social customs, like other southern writers. His lyricism was common to southern poets. Raised in Virginia, Poe sometimes was looked at as the southern gentleman, even if they see excelling regionalism in his work. Among Poe s poetic output, about a dozen poems are remarkable for their perfect literary construction and for their haunting themes and sections. In The Raven, which was written in 1845, the narrator is weighed down by depressions of death. Poe s unexpected handling of rhythm and sound is particularly shown in The Bells which was written in 1849 which was a poem that seems to repeat with the ringing of sharp instruments, and The Sleeper which was written in 1831, which copies the state of drowsiness. Lenore, which was written in 1831, and Annabel Lee, which was written in 1849, are verse expressions of the death of a beautiful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I now attend a performing arts magnet high school for choral performance. Singing, to me, is something that defines who I am because I have been doing it for so long. I have spent countless hours in voice lessons, rehearsals, practicing, recitals, and concerts that I do not know what my life would be without it. Being a vocal student has allowed me to express myself in a unique way that brings joy to others. I love music because it has the ability to transform someone s day just by listening to it. • 31. 12 Minor Prophets Of The Old Testament One of the 12 minor prophets of the Old Testament, Haggai, played an essential role in the rebuilding of the temple of the Lord. Although we are not given the specific details about when it is written or who wrote the book of Haggai, it is often assumed that Haggai himself wrote it. Scholars also presume that it was written around 520 B.C. due to the specifics of the time period given in the book itself. It is a rather short book, only consisting of two chapters, and exact dates are given as to when the Lord spoke to Haggai regarding the rebuilding of the temple. For example, Haggai opens up by saying that the Lord first spoke to Haggai on the first day of the sixth month of the rule of Darius. The messages from the Lord to Haggai were directed to the governor, Zerubbabel, the high priest, Joshua,a and sometimes to all the people of Judah. These messages usually focus on the apathy of the people to rebuild the temple of the Lord. The people of God during The Book of Haggai are avoiding rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem. The first temple was built by Solomon, the son of David. David initially wanted to build the temple, but God gave the task to Solomon. The Babylonians led by Nebuchadnezzar marched into Jerusalem and destroyed this first temple of God. The temple was to be rebuilt, but it was being avoided largely during the time of Haggai. Consequently, God spoke to Haggai and had him relay messages to his people. God started by asking the people how they live in their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many factors and causes that contribute to why this urbanization and rapid change is occurring. Many of the reasons include the desire to live in the city where there are better living conditions, more job and education opportunities. The two songs that are my most favorite are Let s Get It Started by the Black Eyed Peas, and American Noise by Skillet. These songs bring back very special memories from my childhood. My first memory, come from the song Let s Get It Started. My memory starts out when I was in third grade. We always had a Valentine s Day dance. My friends as well as I would always have an exciting time dancing and singing. Our school secretary would make sure to play the most popular songs of that time or songs that were not too old. She played this specific song, just listening to it, it had become my favorite song that I had ever heard that whole night at the dance. • 36. The Federal Government And Education System The Federal Government and Education Article 1, Section 8, of the Constitution declares that the US Government is responsible to tax the people for the general welfare of its citizens . Under this clause, the Government has taken the responsibility of education; not to micro manage the education system, but instead to increase the efficiency of it. In the past, states and local governments have maintained primary control of the education system, which has led to many problems. The differences in curriculum, quality, and administering as well as other aspects of public education are vastly different around the country, which has actually inhibited America s ability to succeed. Many of these issues could be resolved with a shift in power in terms of who is controlling the country s academic system. The Federal Government should have a significant amount of regulating responsibility in America s education system, because it standardizes the quality of education across the country, presents an opportunity of equal education for all students, and regulates teachers. With the Federal Government regulating education, a national standard of schooling will become available. This means that there will be set expectations for how well a student does in school as well as standards for a quality education across the US the education on one side of the country will be exactly the same as on the other side. Having a national academic standard is important because standards spell out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Essay about Celiac Disease Celiac disease (CD) is marked by an inability to absorb gluten. Gluten, also known as glutenin, is a protein found in wheat, rye, barley, spelt, and triticale (Turner and Torkos). The problem with the disease is that it is an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system responds to gluten by damaging the small intestine (Turner and Torkos). This damage to the small intestine is characterized by villous atrophy in people who are genetically susceptible (Parnell and Ciclitira). The disorder may latent for years and then suddenly cause horrendous symptoms that may be misdiagnosed as irritable bowel syndrome. There is danger in a misdiagnosis because many high fiber foods used to help control irritable bowel syndrome are gluten ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At her advanced age, Florence s doctor decided to inject plastic into the bones to provide stable strength and to ensure that future breaks would not occur. Weeks later, she had a scope done, checking the small intestine for damage to the mucosa and microvilli. The ending result was a diagnosis of celiac and a decision that she must be put on a gluten free diet for the rest of her natural life (Florence). With celiac disease, many negative outcomes are possible and many more are probable. Further research into celiac disease substantiates the belief that further research, public awareness, and knowledge are imperative in discovering how to deal with the disease and how to spread awareness of this very serious problem. The small intestine is lined with microvilli (sing. microvillus) and mucosa that entrap and absorb the vital nutrients the body needs to sustain healthy function. With celiac patients, consuming gluten containing foods causes the breakdown of these microvilli and the mucosa, causing malnutrition through the inability to absorb the necessary vitamins and minerals. As celiac is an autoimmune disorder, it stands to reason that the antibodies are attacking the small intestine and are therefore able to be detected in the blood. This reasoning has been discovered to be true and has become an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
