Rock And Roll History
The begins of rock and roll have always been challenged as to when they were first established. The
most common argument is that is first started in Southern United states, the birth place of many of the
first early rock and roll music hits. As the south always had a huge majority of slaves from Africa and
immigrants from Europe, through the gathering of different influences that created a connection
between African musical traditions with European instrumentation. Immigration of once slaves to
populated urban centers including New York City and Chicago meant that both the black and white
communities were living in close proximity, resulting in hearing each other s music and even began to
follow and impersonate each other s fashions .

terms, rock roll indicated that modest, formerly specialized labels like Sun and Specialty were
overrunning the higher influences of the pop charts, along with the privileged domain of the important
industrial record labels and old line Tin Pan Alley music publishing

Summary Of Slavery In Toni Morrison s Beloved
In the novel Beloved by Toni Morrison, the social, personal, and political cruelty of American slavery
is the central factor driving the story. The method of cruelty most prominent in Beloved is the
belittling of slaves at the hands of those with privileged identities, which ultimately reveals that the
victims in the novel are each on their own personal quests to reclaim their own identities. Within the
novel, Morrison utilizes animalistic language that contributes to the meaning of the work as a whole;
that one s identity can be destroyed when victim to a form of cruelty known as dehumanization. One
of the most notable moments in which Morrison uses language related to animals to describe a scene
of abuse and powerlessness occurs when Sethe partakes in a sexual act with the tomb engraver as an
alternative method of payment. The narrator describes the situation once saying [Sethe] thought it
would be enough, rutting among headstones with the engraver, his young son looking on, the anger in
his face so old; the appetite in it quite new (5). A key aspect to this graphic scene is the nature of the
son and his father who both contribute to the cruel dehumanization of Sethe. Morrison creates a sense
of spectatorship, as if Sethe was just an object to peer at, by describing the son as looking on.
Furthermore, the engravers apparent anger and appetite immediately invoke a dynamic of a predator
seeking out its prey as those two words indicate an animalistic, instinctual

Frank Jackson and Physicalism Essay
Frank Jackson and Physicalism
Frank Jackson begins his article by writing about what he feels to be a fatal flaw in physicalism. He
writes a story about a girl named Mary who is raised in a black and white room. In this room Mary
was taught everything there is to know about the physical world. The only catch is she learned only
from media, which was black and white, so she knows nothing of the colors outside this room. After
learning everything about the physical world, she is then given the chance to see color. She will then
learn what color is in the world. For this reason Jackson believes physicalism to be false. Jackson
contends that if physicalism were true, Mary would know what a color looks like before she would
ever ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem with this for physicalism is that fact Mary would realize how mistaken her knowledge of
other s conceptions has been. Even though Mary would have known all of the neurological processes
in a person s mind, she would not have known the person s actual experience involved in the process.
There would also be facts she did not know about objects, but she would know all physical facts about
them. For this reason it is not any experience the object may have, but a fact about the object itself. In
the article the main point seems to be the fact that, for example, Mary would see red for the first time
she would be learning something. However, physicalism is not threatened merely by the fact Mary
learns something. The factor disproving physicalism is the fact Mary learns something new about the
object that is red. For example she can see a tomato is now read. Her teachings showed her all
physical attributes to the tomato and she would know everything about it. The problem is that she had
no idea what red was until she saw red, therefore she did not know everything physical about the
tomato. If physicalism were true, Mary would have known exactly what the red tomato looked like
before she saw it, including the redness it displayed. After reading the Jackson article I have
concluded that I agree with the points being made against physicalism. The example that I believe
disproves physicalism is trying to

Antony And Cleopatra Dbq Analysis
Growing up, most people have been taught right from wrong, and how you should never do wrong just
to impress someone or to make them happy. Then it was drilled into us as we went through school and
history class, Learn from the past, and your future will be bright. Well, unfortunately that isn t a saying
that has been taught for that long. One of the best examples of right vs. wrong throughout history
would be that of Antony and Cleopatra. Their story is one that will continue to go down in history as a
stepping stone of education. According to Roman society back in the second century A.D., a Roman
family was led by the eldest male. In traditional Roman society, family meant all those under the
authority of a male head of household, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The end of the Civil War was when Octavian chased them back to Egypt, where the two committed

Cell Phone Use Essay
Cell phones popularity has grown exponentially in the last few years. Almost every college student
has a cell phone or smartphone. They are seen all over the world and in every building. Cell phone use
while driving has increased exponentially in young adults over the past few years, many reasons such
as dependency and addiction can lead to this but there are also ways to try to limit cell phone use by
different sensors or helpful tips. Cell phone use has grown in popularity in college students and young
adults all over the world, because of this, cell phones are being used more and more while driving.
More and more college students and young adults are getting smartphones and other cellphones, A
recent Australian survey found that 75% of mobile phone users now have smartphones; this figure
more than doubled between 2011 and 2014 and is expected to reach 91% by 2017 [6]. There are cell
phones in every store or building whether they are a customer s phone or an employee phone. In the
research conducted 99.8% of the participants owned a cell phone and 82.1% of them had their drivers
licenses [1]. The large quantities of cell phones are causing large distractions in young driver s lives.

Five Leadership Lessons From James T. Kirk
As Alex Knapp wrote about in his article Five Leadership Lessons from James T. Kirk, leadership is
about constantly learning, encouraging creativity and innovation, working with team members, and
understanding the competition in order to lead better and lead to greater places. Knapp observed
through Kirk s actions that the knowledge required to lead is not necessarily all the information that is
needed to be an accomplished leader. A good leader will also have people on their team that contradict
their views, as Knapp implied, in order to get a better perspective of the problem. Being a good leader
also encompasses working with lower positions and experiencing the different types of work so that
the leader will earn the workers trust and

Does Hpv Vaccination Within Msm Significantly Prevent...
Clinical Question: Does HPV vaccination in MSM significantly prevent anogenital neoplasia
occurrence and recurrence compared to not being vaccinated? Introduction Anogenital cancer (rectal,
anal, anal canal, anorectum, penis and other genital) rates are on the rise with 27,660 estimated new
male cases and 710 estimated male deaths in the United States last year alone.1 Currently, the Center
for Disease Control (CDC) recommends vaccination in the men who have sex with men (MSM)
population up to age 26 if they had not received it when they were younger.2 There are no current
recommendations for this population who are greater than age 26 who have not previously received
the vaccine. As age of an individual and number of lifetime sexual partners increases, the risk of
developing anal cancer also increases. Men who have had 15 sexual partners during their lifetime
show an increase in risk of developing anal cancer (OR=5.3; 95% CI, 2.4 12.0). Additionally, men
who practice receptive anal intercourse is independently related to an increased risk of developing
anal cancer (OR=6.8; 95% CI 1.4 33.8).3 These findings suggest that the MSM population, especially
the aging MSM population, is a high risk group that could benefit from vaccination protecting against
the strains of Human Papiloma Virus (HPV) that are associated with cancer development. This
growing need is addressed through extensive research of relevant literature answering the question

Allen Ginsberg Beat Generation Analysis
In and around the 1950s Allen Ginsberg, along with several other great poets interested in changing
social consciousness and defying conventional writing, became known as the Beat generation. Beat
poetry focuses on the battle against social conformity and literary tradition. These Beat poets, known
for their unconventional lifestyle, unorthodox political views, rowdy behavior, and experimental drug
use, caused a lot of controversy. In Ginsberg s Howl and Other Poems, Ginsberg employs a
particularly confrontational and crude writing style to challenge the heteronormative, nuclear driven
society that promotes the marginalisation and ostracisation of minorities and individuals whose
ideology does not agree with that of the rest of the nation. Ginsberg believes that American society
remains gravely repressed and his writing works to challenge that. Ginsberg, along with the other
poets of the beat generation, introduce all the social taboos of the time such as heterosexual as well as
homosexual sex, drugs, and addiction, into their writings. Ginsberg became one of the most influential
poets in literary history, preaching his personal truths and promoting the idea of breaking the mold of
the idealistic nuclear American society.
Bond 2
At the time Ginsberg began to write, this idea of the perfect family, (working father, stay at home
wife, kids and a dog), had been a widely spread idealistic way of life followed by the mass
mainstream population of America. Although equality of opportunity is central to the concept of the
American Dream, only those who fit the mold of the straight laced American man receive the privilege
of equal opportunity. Ginsberg believes this concept of the idealistic American Dream proceeds to do
nothing but harm minorities much like himself. Ginsberg saw the best minds of [his] generation
destroyed by madness... demanding instantaneous lobotomy... (1 69). The harmful and destructive
ideology of the great American dream remains engraved in our society dating all the way back to The
Bill of Rights, 1789, No person shall be... deprived of life, liberty, or property and Allen Ginsberg
strived to dismantle this falsely constructed ideology. Ginsberg uses his sexaulity as a prime

A Summary Of Elia Kazan And Arthur Miller
Elia Kazan and Arthur Miller were good friends for quite a long time. Miller and Kazan could have
made some of the best films and plays in the world but they let things come between them. They
worked on films and plays together. They had a professional and personal relationship, however The
Red Scare destroyed that. The threat of communism also broke them apart. Arthur Miller was a
playwright who wrote plays such as The Crucible and Death of a Salesman . Miller was a kind man
and wanted to keep his reputation to a high standard. He believed that theater would change the world.
His works were based off of his life, friends, and family. The way he portrayed himself made people
believe that he was a hero. Elia Kazan was Miller s director on broadway when Death of a Salesman
came out in 1947. The play was about a New York family s life in reality and what they wanted it to
be. Elia Kazan was a theater director where he worked with Miller. He is considered one of the
greatest stage directors today. Kazan was a man who did not care who he betrayed. His films were
personal and special to him. The turning point of his career was when he appeared in front of the
HUAC and named names. He said he took the easiest of two routes when asked why he testified. In
1999 he was awarded an Oscar and many actors chose not to applaud. They shared the same visions
and radical politics. They also had the same taste in women. Marilyn Monroe had an affair with both

The Continuing Immigration Debate Summary
Mark Rosenblum, US IMMIGRATION POLICY SINCE 9/11 Mark Rosenblum s U.S Immigration
Policy Since 9/11 does not provide an argument but rather he describes challenges, and identifies
questions central to the future of the U.S immigration debate. Overall, it seems that prior to 9/11 it
seemed migration negotiations were stalled every time. Whether this was done purposely or is merely
a coincidence is my concern.
Rosenblum states that migration negotiations going well until 2001, post 9/11 period, when migration
negotiations with Mexico collapsed (1). Rosenblum goes on to illustrate how policy changed after
9/11, resulting in five sweeping antiterrorism measures that fall into three groups (4). No matter which

refreshing to hear that immigrants do not let policy influence their destination of settlement. I would

surprising that economic and social factors more prominently shape immigrants settlements and
residency patterns (1). This perspective was refreshing and different compared to others. Research

The Influence Of Deception In Raven Black
Deception is the action of betraying and letting someone down. Sometimes individuals are so caught
up in the moment that they do not think about the consequences of their actions. In the novel Raven
Black, deception is shown throughout the story by a murder, mystery of a missing girl, and a kidnap.
The thriller Raven Black, by Ann Cleeves, takes place during the dark cold winter in January, in the
Shetland Islands. In the novel, every character reveals a different mindset by their actions and
thoughts. In the article, Fixed vs. Growth: The Two Basic Mindsets That Shape Our Lives, Maria
Popova talks about how every individual has a different mindset. Someone with a fixed mindset
assumes that they cannot change for the better and their intelligence or qualities are fixed traits. On the
contrary, someone with a growth mindset enjoys a challenge, they believe they can learn from their
mistakes and most importantly they know there is always room for improvement. In Raven Black,
Inspector Jimmy Perez, Magnus Tait and Sally Henry show whether they have a fixed or growth
mindset, which result in how they act and think throughout the novel. Inspector Jimmy Perez is a
diligent and clever detective who does not settle for the first clue he notices in an investigation. In the
novel Raven Black, by Ann Cleeves Inspector Perez shows he has a growth mindset, by having an
open mind and not blaming Magnus Tait for the murder of Catherine Ross. He takes into consideration
that he cannot be

Stereotypes And Stereotypes Of African American Students...
Stereotypes can be defined as schemas applied to a group of people sharing common physical,
biological or racial characteristics. Focusing on education, African American students had consistently
been negatively stereotyped about their intellectual abilities. Research indicates that racial stereotypes
negatively affect African American students academic performance. This correlation, though, is
clearest among salient African American students, implying that psychological factors may result from
these discriminations.
African American children demonstrate early awareness of ethnic stereotypes and can identify some
stereotypes about their group due to highly salient physical characteristics that may have forced them
to face stereotypes at an early age. Shelvin, Rivadeneyra Zimmerman (2014) conducted an experiment
on churches, after school and cultural enrichment programs with students aged between 10 to 12
years. One hundred and eighty six African American students from various social class levels took two
tasks; the Stereotype Awareness task where they wrote all the stereotypes they know about their race,
referring to the definition and example for stereotypes that were given to them on the top part of the

their identity for self concept. Students results were mainly around seven

The assessment team administrator should begin the process of soliciting assessment team members.
Many organizations solicit members through. Their corporate newsletter, electronic mail, or a personal
letter sent from the president/CEO inviting participation. Team members selections should be
considered from a group of employees who have expressed an interest in better understanding
homeland security and using the Baldrige Criteria as a template for improving their organization s
homeland security infrastructure. Once team members have been selected, it is recommended that an
assessment workshop be conducted by the assessment team administrator or team participants who
have an understanding of homeland security issues and the Baldrige Criteria. The workshop may
include using a case study for the team to practice identifying organizational strengths and
opportunities for improvement in at least one or two categories. During the workshop, the team will
discuss each category and determine What does this mean for my organization? The use of this
manual will help the team practice translating homeland security issues and Baldrige Criteria into

The Ultimate Entrepreneur Essay example
The Ultimate Entrepreneur
In 2002 it was reported that George W. Bush told the then prime minister Tony Blair that The problem
with the French is that they don t have a word for entrepreneur . Putting it kindly, this was a mistake.
Translated from French, an entrepreneur is someone who undertakes something. Of course it carries a
much wider meaning than that in the modern English definition. An entrepreneur is someone who
takes an idea and builds it into something great and successful. Someone with vision, drive and
creativity, and the will to make it happen, often against difficult odds. Or certainly that s the general
perception. Does this person have to be a genius? Above average intelligence? What defines an
entrepreneur really? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As an entrepreneur you re in the uncertainty business, so you need a high tolerance for risk. You need
to be willing to fail several times if necessary in order to get it right in the end, and you need to be
flexible in your thinking. Your idea may need to change as your journey unfolds, and you need to be
open enough to accept and work with that change. Uncertainty is a scary place, so you will need to
deal with the fear associated with that. Fear of not knowing where next month s pay cheque is coming
from, fear of failure. You must become accustomed to insecurity as a life choice. And you ll need the
ability to think creatively so you can change perspective to solve all those inevitable problems that
come up.
So far then we have vision, passion, persistence, high risk tolerance, flexible and creative thinking.
Throw in resilience for good measure. Not many people have these qualities up front, or maybe more
importantly, are willing to adopt them. It is argued that our education system does nothing to promote
entrepreneurship either. With its emphasis on conformity and thinking inside the box , it arguably
stifles creativity. It is interesting to note that people like Richard Branson, Alan Sugar and Steve Jobs
didn t finish higher education, and Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard. I m not saying

Benefits Of The Dice Game
Introduction
Dice game is one of the easiest and convenient games played around the world. It can be played under
any circumstances, quietly or in a noisy place. One can play alone, with a friend or in a group of
friends. It is very beneficial as it improves learning number as well as addition skills (Knizia, 2010)
.The Dice game is one of the oldest of all the games in the world. Records reveal that it has been
played since more than 5,000 years ago. It has been thought to have originated from Egypt and was
very popular with the ancient roman people. It is also a very versatile game (Liberman, 2013(.
Although it may require some level of skill, it can be played by a totally unskilled person on the basis
of luck. It is very flexible and can be played anywhere, on a table, on the floor etc. furthermore, it does
not discriminate players on any basis, be it age, sex or social groups. Anybody, from the age of three

Essay on The True Villian in Frankenstein
Mary Shelly wrote the Gothic tale Frankenstein. In the novel, who is the true villain, the Monster or
Victor Frankenstein? Which character do you have the most sympathy for?
Mary Shelly wrote the novel Frankenstein using gothic techniques.
Nearly 200 years after the book was first published in 1818 the readers still debate about the real
villain of the story.
Victor Frankenstein could be the hero of the story; the reader sympathises with him when he suffers
the loss of his mother, his brother William, wife Elizabeth, his father and friend Clerval. This extreme
suffering that Victor goes through is a characteristic of romantic heroes. Also as Victor is narrating it

The fact he also has no parents is reflected on that he has no name; a child s name is normally given
by their parents. This makes the reader feel sorry for the monster as it emphasises the fact that he has
been abandoned by Victor and has no parents. The theme of alienation is carried on throughout the
story and can be seen in the point of the De
Lacey s who are thrown out of France. The monster is also alienated by the De Lacey s who reject him
even though helps them out as he grows to love them. He is rejected as Felix, Agatha and Safie return
and see him with the old man. This rejection and alienation makes the reader feel sorry for the monster
as it is purely prejudice of his looks. The readers see the monster as very calm as he restrains his anger
when he sees Victor and doesn t harm him. Also his language is very eloquent and persuasive he
compares Frankenstein to God saying that Victor is his, natural lord and king and that he ought to be
Victor s Adam.
The monster flatters Victor and uses rhetorical questions to get
Victor thinking so that he would listen to his story and this is all after he is threatened and insulted by
him. Also the monster regrets what he did to Victor this shows that he has feelings and a conscience.
The reader feels for the monster because of the use of embedded narration, which allows the readers to

Descriptive Essay About Cafe Morocco
Café Morocco. The last time I visited this restaurant I was 5 years old. We were celebrating Eid, an
Islamic holiday that we celebrate at the end of our most holy month, Ramadan. Baba (father in Arabic)
invited all of our family and friends to celebrate. This would be the last time he would invite people to
his restaurant. This was his last day owning Café Morocco. Café Morocco is a Mediterranean
restaurant, here in Downtown Sacramento. I never visited the restaurant after that day. I just didn t feel
the need to if it wasn t baba s head peeking through the window to the kitchen.
Café Morocco Mediterranean Cuisine was plastered on the wall. They haven t changed the sign. I
wonder if the sign has really lasted all this time, or if at some point they had to redo the sign. And if
so, why did they choose to keep it the same. Why did they think Baba s sign and image fit theirs? The
outside is simple, just a small restaurant and this sign. I walked in. First thing my eyes look for is the
kitchen, to look through the window and see the cook s head. It wasn t Baba, but some other man
following his dreams.
The lights were dim, the music flowing through the speakers were upbeat songs with Arabic words. I
can catch a few words here and there, but still I never know what these songs mean.

An Inflammatory Factor Called Nerve Growth Factor
example, there is an inflammatory factor called nerve growth factor (NGF), which is gathered in
tissues under inflammatory conditions/responses.15 Neurogenic inflammation in correlation with the
mentioned process induces secretion of proinflammatory molecules and cytokines and acts as a
feedback in order to increase secretion of NGF.15,68 These inflammatory processes cause airway
remodeling (neural plasticity).15 Neural plasticity of the airways causes an elevation in the level of
tachykinins and makes its secretion easier.15 This process leads to nervous hyperactivity and
consequently bronchial hyperresponsiveness.15,69

William Shakespeare s Time
The timeless, genius, iconic writer Shakespeare, still to this day has his stories and plays executed and
performed. Throughout decades the writer s stories stand strong. Now for nearly five hundred years,
his work of tales and stories remain and are idolized. Shakespeare s many plays still are relevant even
with how immensely the time has changed. Then again, today s time has evolved and grown very far
from what William Shakespeare s knew in his life time. Many such topics such as, marriages and how
our society views them. How theaters are meant to be, and how they are structured with rules. Our
entertainment coming from actors and actresses, and how we respect them. And even how we see
music and acting is our industry. Times have changed and spiraled into a very different direction.
The first concept of how Shakespeare s time is much different than our own, is how we perceive the
entire idea and thought of how a theater should be treated and how it works. The obvious first thought
that comes to our mind, is that we now have grown to watch television shows and movies much more
than live production. This is because evolution of technology, but you might be surprised when you

In an article called Actors in Shakespeare s Day , it states how the public eye saw many actors. First
off, actresses were very disrespected and not very common because the gender rights were not equal,
unlike today. So, many actors were critiqued or made fun of, and seen as jokers. Many audience
members watching the actors would not respect them (like stated above, they would yell things at the
actors and throw things on the stage). Nevertheless, people would still pile into the theaters and watch
the shows quite often. In today s time, we love and respect many actors and actresses. We idolize them
and they get paid very much for entertaining

Since I hate drawing maps I was lost most of the time but with some clever use of redundant items
you can leave yourself a handy trail. You also only have one save spot so to avoid heartache I advice
you copy your old savegames to a save place before trying something dangerous. A nice touch is that
from time to time you find the bones of a character that wasn t so lucky in their quest. These can be
carried back to the dwarves who will then resurrect the character to join your party. You start out with
four initial characters you create yourself although any character can be dropped to make space for a
new one. As long as you don t go over your limited of six characters.
The game is packed with traps, hidden rooms, secret passages and portals. Making your way through
all this is quite a achievement and only the very patient (and lucky) while make it down to the bottom
level and still remain sane. Fortunately there are some portals that can teleport you around providing
you find the correct portal keys. This is handy for backtracking up to the higher levels without
trudging all the way back up. Just remember to keep notes of what leads where and search thoroughly

how a reasonable person would interpret it, (Kubasek et al., 2012, p. 306). A reasonable person may

My Darling Clementine Essay
The use of mise en scene in John Ford s classic western is very important when it comes to conveying
the meanings and effects in My Darling Clementine . This essay will study the mise en scene of the
film, to explore the meaning of violence and the effects of civilization on the frontier.
The effects of civilization are very apparent in the film, as it seems that Ford has tried to explore the
juxtaposition of civilization and wilderness. Henry Ford s character, Wyatt Earp, an ex Marshall who
is herding cattle west to california with his brothers, acts as a kind of catalyst for the town s civility.

Earp stays in the town of Tombstone as a Marshall for personal gain, to avenge his brother, but
eventually becomes more and more civilized as the narrative progresses, navigating the grey area
between good and bad, and frontier wilderness and civilization. This idea of Earp being a transitional
character is represented in many ways via the mise en scene of the film. One of these ways is how
Wyatt Earp is often framed stood in doorways, if one side of the door represents the wilderness and
the other civilization, then to have Earp stood in the doorway may be representative of the middle
ground that he stands on as a transitional character. Ford also uses doorways throughout the film to
blur the lines of which side the wilderness is really on, when the Earp brother s first arrive in the town
of Tombstone, it is represented as wilder and more dangerous than the frontier. Earp asking himself
and others What kind of town is this? as chaos ensues, depicts Tombstone as not the average western

Angioplasty and Heart Attack
Overview
Angioplasty is a procedure performed to open blocked arteries and restore normal blood flow to the
heart muscle. Angioplasty is not a major surgery, and is performed by threading a catheter, which is a
very thin tube along with a tiny, thin, expandable balloon that is inserted into the clogged artery and
inflated. This opens the artery by pushing the plaque against the artery wall. The procedure may take

non vascular plants and the tracheophytes that are vascular plants. As for animals there are
invertebrates, which are animals that that don t have a backbone, and there are vertebrates, animals

The Nursing Roles with HIPAA and Informatics Informatics is a term used to describe the entirety of

confidentiality of the patient. HIPAA aids in the use of electronic records distributed for collaborative
and violations of confidentiality in healthcare under control. Understanding HIPAA Kiel (2012) says,
nurses first and foremost should take the time to educate patients on HIPAA, giving them and their

to tell that nurses are to help the patient understand the key points of HIPAA and any questions they

mainly prevalent to the patient is the Privacy Rule and the Security Rule. Nurses must make sure the

The Upstream And Downstream Of Seeing By Annie Dillard
The Upstream and Downstream of Seeing Annie Dillard s Seeing discusses the two possible ways to
properly see things and relates them to light versus darkness in nature, and upstream versus
downstream of a river. The essay explains that there are two ways to see things in the world; to look
for something specific, or to let go of that desire to see something. Both types of seeing are also
combined with either brightness or darkness and with either upstream or downstream. Dillard has
trouble seeing anything in the upstream of the river because that part of the river is always dark or
cloudy. On the other hand, she can see the animals in the downstream of the river, where everything is
bright and lively. The river is split in two different symbols which help show the best way that one
should view nature. The downstream and the upstream of the river have unique characteristics, and
Dillard also compares them to darkness and light. By using powerful imagery and diction, Dillard is
able to compare the two types of seeing and explain why letting go of the desire to see is the best way
to look at things. Dillard s powerful imagery throughout the essay is crucial for understanding the
differences in seeing. For example, she is able to describe something as broad as nature by using a
simile such as, nature is like one of those line drawings of a tree that are puzzles for children (19).
Since Dillard writes with such a loose structure, the imagery that she

Assessing India s Mobile Number Portability
India has more than 900 million mobile connections.
To assess the MNP it is of paramount importance to understand the psyche of the Indian consumer.
More than 95% mobile subscribers are prepaid, reflecting a price sensitive consumer. This in
conjunction with aggressive price competition has led to a high churn rate. Under these circumstances
MNP should be high in demand. But contrary to this in the first 12 months after MNP implementation
in 2011, only 5% of the churning customers preferred to take benefit of MNP, clearly indicating lower
affinity for the same number.
This trend could be attributed to several factors. Subscribers in India lack the patience to wait a week
for while the porting procedure is completed. On the other hand the prominence of free SIM cards,
instantly available at every nook and corner, has very much reduced consumer s apprehension of
letting go of the number. Growth in Multi Sim card devices has also helped consumers to hold on to
the previous numbers while going in for a new cheaper alternative. What did not help is the discretion
used by the operators in many cases to reject porting applications. In such a high churn market, the 90
day waiting period between two porting applications restricts the free movement of subscribers, who
are always on the lookout for the cheapest telecom plan. MNP hasn t been without its share of
controversies. TRAI has had to file litigations against three telecom companies on the ground of not

consists of an exposition, a main conflict, rising action, climactic event, falling action, and a
resolution. By this point in the play, Act III is beginning already in the rising action of the play. Miller
makes reading the concluding acts a rollercoaster ride by developing the plot uniquely and
particularly, making the reader eager for more. To begin with, the act opens in the vestry room of the
Salem meeting house, now serving as the anteroom of the General Court (180). There is already a bit

A Soft Drink Tax According to John Stuart Mill
The Justification for a Soft Drink Tax
The Coca Cola brand has built itself into a staple of American culture. This is a terrifying thought for
public health advocates who see Coke and other soft drinks as being major culprits behind a growing
national health crisis. Empirical evidence shows that over consumption of soft drinks clearly causes
harm to the individuals who consume them, however, the waging battle over soda legislation will not
be won on the grounds of health alone. The argument that Coca Cola, Pepsi, and other soft drink firms
present is deeply rooted in American values and cannot easily be trumped. What they argue for is
freedom of choice.

To consume soft drinks to the point of excess can lead to the deterioration of an individual s health.
This may appear to be a self regarding action until one considers the cost such individuals impose on
taxpayers. Citizens whose unhealthy lifestyles regularly land them in the hospital eat up government
health care, at which point their actions cease to be self regarding and become harmful to society at
large. With this in mind, are we still to protect individuals liberty to drink soda pop?
Soft drink firms may point to Mill in arguing that the accountability for such harm lies not with soda,
but with the society that raises gluttonous individuals. If grown people are incapable of properly
taking care of themselves, society must consider that it has had absolute power over them during all
the early portion of their existence; it has had the whole period of childhood and nonage in which to
try whether it could make them capable of rational conduct in life (80). It is on this point that we must
consider the role that mass media plays in the world today. The pervasiveness of corporate advertising

Critically Evaluate the Value of Academic and Applied...
In the 21st Century, many problems face the people of today with academic and applied psychology
facing those problems. One of the main problems that people face today is the idea of Globalisation.
Globalisation is an ever growing process around the world, which has been an ever lasting process
throughout time and into the 21st century. Globalisation is described as a process of international
integration arising from the interchange of world views, products, ideas and other aspects of culture
(Al Rodhan 2006). Throughout time, Golbalisation has impacted everyone, from the changing face of
work (Occupational Psychology) through the Industrial Revolution to the more current Globalisation
of hand held devices, such as mobile phones. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of cultural imperialism is supported by Ritzer s notion of McDonaldisation, as it shows the
western ideal of fast food being posed upon countries all over the world, slowly injecting the ideals of
the west into eastern cultures. However, Globalisation cannot be seen in just a negative light, as
through Globalisation, the face of work has changed since the 19th century, and even before that with
the Industrial Revolution. As outlined above, Globalisation can be seen negatively as it may force
people of a culture to accept another ideal, but the idea of Globalisation has also impacted on the
world positively, for example changing the face of work. Through Occupational Psychology (applied
psychology), the work place has implemented changes that has slowly started in the West and made its
way around the world so that people get fair treatment in the work place.
Since the Industrial Revolution, the workplace has changed from materials being hand made to people
now programming machines, lowering the risk and stress of the individual. From then, the workplace
has adapted further with machinery now being limited to factories for the building of cars, and more
office/computer based work now becoming the more prominent. This can be seen as a positive view
on Globalisation as it has reduced risks and stress (as outline before). A further notion is that the
workplace has now become more globalised, with

Banning Consealed Carry
On February 7th, 2007 the most tragic United States mass shooting happened in history. 23 year old
student, Cho picked up a Walther P 22 pistol and killed 32 people at Virginia Tech University in
Blacksburg Virginia. This left the whole nation in shock leaving innocent students fearful , higher
education administration astonished and families mourning the loss of their children. Cho was found
guilty after submitting his own confession video to NBS news along with 28 gruesome photos and
profane language over the murder of innocent students. As everyone in the nation mourned such a loss
of university students, the question remains as to why this incident even occurred. Cho was arrested
and immediately sent for additional investigation including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

According to Dr. John R. Lott Jr, world recognized economist, this is not the case at all. Lott holds a
Ph.D in economics from the University of California of Los Angeles has rigorgously decidated to
finding the correlation between violence and guns within the United States. According to this findings
Consealed Carry Permit Holders Across the United States several misconceptions where cleared in a
scienfic manner. First, the number of consealed handgun permits are increasing each year. Just within
the past 2015 year, 1.7 million additional permits were issued. This has resulted in a 15.4% increase in
permits within one calendar year. Where John R. Lott Jr. makes a distinction in his research center,
that although permits are increasing, this does not neccesarily mean that violence is increasing as well.
To the contrary belief violence is decreasing at a significant rate. Just between the years of 2007 and
2014 murder rates have fallen to an dismounting rate of 4.2 per 100,000 people. Looking at both
variables closely this has represented a 25% drop in overall murder rate while the percentage of
permits have increased at a rate of 175%. This provides a basis that lets concerned families, verterans
and students that the possession of Firearms is not a direct correlation to violence within

How Does Vonnegut Use Flashbacks In Slaughterhouse Five
Kevin Amoah

IS KURT VONNEGUT S SLAUGHTERHOUSE FIVE A GOOD ANTI WAR NOVEL?
Mostly, not all soldiers are affected by the negative aspects of war like injures or death. However,
more than half of these soldiers who come back from war mostly suffer from Post Traumatic Stress. In
Kurt Vonnegut s slaughterhouse five, Vonnegut, the author, ues enormous flashbacks, disorder shifts in
time, and the use of short phrases, so it goes to convey the idea of lack of sorrow for the death and
ability to tell what s going to happen in the future due to flashbacks in order to show the negative and
long lasting effects of war.
In Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse 5, Vonnegut uses short phrases such as so it goes in order to show the
idea that Billy, the main character, doesn t really have pity toward died people. This is because when
Billy visited the Tralfamadorians the important he learned on The Tralfamadore was that when a
person dies he only appears to die. He is still very much alive in the past, so it is very silly for people
to cry at his funeral . ( Vonnegut 26). Billy finds his own explanation of the bombing and the death of
so many innocent people. He turns to the Tralfamadorian belief that the deaths were unpreventable
and had to happen because that was how they were supposed to happen. Neither he nor anyone else
could change what destiny had decided would occur. At the thought of these deaths and all death Billy
sees, he has only one

  • 2. Rock And Roll History The begins of rock and roll have always been challenged as to when they were first established. The most common argument is that is first started in Southern United states, the birth place of many of the first early rock and roll music hits. As the south always had a huge majority of slaves from Africa and immigrants from Europe, through the gathering of different influences that created a connection between African musical traditions with European instrumentation. Immigration of once slaves to populated urban centers including New York City and Chicago meant that both the black and white communities were living in close proximity, resulting in hearing each other s music and even began to follow and impersonate each other s fashions . The method of cruelty most prominent in Beloved is the belittling of slaves at the hands of those with privileged identities, which ultimately reveals that the victims in the novel are each on their own personal quests to reclaim their own identities. Within the novel, Morrison utilizes animalistic language that contributes to the meaning of the work as a whole; that one s identity can be destroyed when victim to a form of cruelty known as dehumanization. One of the most notable moments in which Morrison uses language related to animals to describe a scene of abuse and powerlessness occurs when Sethe partakes in a sexual act with the tomb engraver as an alternative method of payment. The narrator describes the situation once saying [Sethe] thought it would be enough, rutting among headstones with the engraver, his young son looking on, the anger in his face so old; the appetite in it quite new (5). A key aspect to this graphic scene is the nature of the son and his father who both contribute to the cruel dehumanization of Sethe. Morrison creates a sense of spectatorship, as if Sethe was just an object to peer at, by describing the son as looking on. Furthermore, the engravers apparent anger and appetite immediately invoke a dynamic of a predator seeking out its prey as those two words indicate an animalistic, instinctual ... • 4. Frank Jackson and Physicalism Essay Frank Jackson and Physicalism Frank Jackson begins his article by writing about what he feels to be a fatal flaw in physicalism. He writes a story about a girl named Mary who is raised in a black and white room. In this room Mary was taught everything there is to know about the physical world. The only catch is she learned only from media, which was black and white, so she knows nothing of the colors outside this room. After learning everything about the physical world, she is then given the chance to see color. She will then learn what color is in the world. For this reason Jackson believes physicalism to be false. Jackson contends that if physicalism were true, Mary would know what a color looks like before she would ever ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem with this for physicalism is that fact Mary would realize how mistaken her knowledge of other s conceptions has been. Even though Mary would have known all of the neurological processes in a person s mind, she would not have known the person s actual experience involved in the process. There would also be facts she did not know about objects, but she would know all physical facts about them. For this reason it is not any experience the object may have, but a fact about the object itself. In the article the main point seems to be the fact that, for example, Mary would see red for the first time she would be learning something. However, physicalism is not threatened merely by the fact Mary learns something. The factor disproving physicalism is the fact Mary learns something new about the object that is red. For example she can see a tomato is now read. Her teachings showed her all physical attributes to the tomato and she would know everything about it. The problem is that she had no idea what red was until she saw red, therefore she did not know everything physical about the tomato. If physicalism were true, Mary would have known exactly what the red tomato looked like before she saw it, including the redness it displayed. After reading the Jackson article I have concluded that I agree with the points being made against physicalism. The example that I believe disproves physicalism is trying to ... Clinical Question: Does HPV vaccination in MSM significantly prevent anogenital neoplasia occurrence and recurrence compared to not being vaccinated? Introduction Anogenital cancer (rectal, anal, anal canal, anorectum, penis and other genital) rates are on the rise with 27,660 estimated new male cases and 710 estimated male deaths in the United States last year alone.1 Currently, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends vaccination in the men who have sex with men (MSM) population up to age 26 if they had not received it when they were younger.2 There are no current recommendations for this population who are greater than age 26 who have not previously received the vaccine. As age of an individual and number of lifetime sexual partners increases, the risk of developing anal cancer also increases. Men who have had 15 sexual partners during their lifetime show an increase in risk of developing anal cancer (OR=5.3; 95% CI, 2.4 12.0). Additionally, men who practice receptive anal intercourse is independently related to an increased risk of developing anal cancer (OR=6.8; 95% CI 1.4 33.8).3 These findings suggest that the MSM population, especially the aging MSM population, is a high risk group that could benefit from vaccination protecting against the strains of Human Papiloma Virus (HPV) that are associated with cancer development. This growing need is addressed through extensive research of relevant literature answering the question Does HPV vaccination in MSM ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Allen Ginsberg Beat Generation Analysis In and around the 1950s Allen Ginsberg, along with several other great poets interested in changing social consciousness and defying conventional writing, became known as the Beat generation. Beat poetry focuses on the battle against social conformity and literary tradition. These Beat poets, known for their unconventional lifestyle, unorthodox political views, rowdy behavior, and experimental drug use, caused a lot of controversy. In Ginsberg s Howl and Other Poems, Ginsberg employs a particularly confrontational and crude writing style to challenge the heteronormative, nuclear driven society that promotes the marginalisation and ostracisation of minorities and individuals whose ideology does not agree with that of the rest of the nation. Ginsberg believes that American society remains gravely repressed and his writing works to challenge that. Ginsberg, along with the other poets of the beat generation, introduce all the social taboos of the time such as heterosexual as well as homosexual sex, drugs, and addiction, into their writings. Ginsberg became one of the most influential poets in literary history, preaching his personal truths and promoting the idea of breaking the mold of the idealistic nuclear American society. Bond 2 At the time Ginsberg began to write, this idea of the perfect family, (working father, stay at home wife, kids and a dog), had been a widely spread idealistic way of life followed by the mass mainstream population of America. Although equality of opportunity is central to the concept of the American Dream, only those who fit the mold of the straight laced American man receive the privilege of equal opportunity. Ginsberg believes this concept of the idealistic American Dream proceeds to do nothing but harm minorities much like himself. • 15. Stereotypes And Stereotypes Of African American Students... Stereotypes can be defined as schemas applied to a group of people sharing common physical, biological or racial characteristics. Focusing on education, African American students had consistently been negatively stereotyped about their intellectual abilities. Research indicates that racial stereotypes negatively affect African American students academic performance. This correlation, though, is clearest among salient African American students, implying that psychological factors may result from these discriminations. African American children demonstrate early awareness of ethnic stereotypes and can identify some stereotypes about their group due to highly salient physical characteristics that may have forced them to face stereotypes at an early age. Bush told the then prime minister Tony Blair that The problem with the French is that they don t have a word for entrepreneur . Putting it kindly, this was a mistake. An entrepreneur is someone who takes an idea and builds it into something great and successful. An Inflammatory Factor Called Nerve Growth Factor example, there is an inflammatory factor called nerve growth factor (NGF), which is gathered in tissues under inflammatory conditions/responses.15 Neurogenic inflammation in correlation with the mentioned process induces secretion of proinflammatory molecules and cytokines and acts as a feedback in order to increase secretion of NGF.15,68 These inflammatory processes cause airway remodeling (neural plasticity).15 Neural plasticity of the airways causes an elevation in the level of tachykinins and makes its secretion easier.15 This process leads to nervous hyperactivity and consequently bronchial hyperresponsiveness.15,69 Release of chemotactic and toxic mediators causes activation of macrophage and degranulation of mast cells, which can lead to an inflammatory response that is at the highest level in airway remodeling.5 It brings about subepithelial thickening, and changes of mucous glands and smooth muscles structure.5,12 In addition, there is some evidence in bronchial biopsies of the cases with acute onset of IIA, including epithelial desquamation (denuded epithelium), significant detected number of lymphocytes (mononuclear inflammation), airway remodeling, collagen deposition in the bronchial wall (edematous mucosa).5,15,70 These types of alterations have been reported in the experiments with animal models as well.71 Furthermore, studies revealed that there are other alterations in this type of asthma, such as mucosal squamous cell metaplasia, basement membrane ... This essay will study the mise en scene of the film, to explore the meaning of violence and the effects of civilization on the frontier. The effects of civilization are very apparent in the film, as it seems that Ford has tried to explore the juxtaposition of civilization and wilderness. Henry Ford s character, Wyatt Earp, an ex Marshall who is herding cattle west to california with his brothers, acts as a kind of catalyst for the town s civility. One of these ways is how Wyatt Earp is often framed stood in doorways, if one side of the door represents the wilderness and the other civilization, then to have Earp stood in the doorway may be representative of the middle ground that he stands on as a transitional character. Ford also uses doorways throughout the film to blur the lines of which side the wilderness is really on, when the Earp brother s first arrive in the town of Tombstone, it is represented as wilder and more dangerous than the frontier. Earp asking himself and others What kind of town is this? as chaos ensues, depicts Tombstone as not the average western town. • 36. The Upstream And Downstream Of Seeing By Annie Dillard The Upstream and Downstream of Seeing Annie Dillard s Seeing discusses the two possible ways to properly see things and relates them to light versus darkness in nature, and upstream versus downstream of a river. The essay explains that there are two ways to see things in the world; to look for something specific, or to let go of that desire to see something. Both types of seeing are also combined with either brightness or darkness and with either upstream or downstream. Dillard has trouble seeing anything in the upstream of the river because that part of the river is always dark or cloudy. On the other hand, she can see the animals in the downstream of the river, where everything is bright and lively. The river is split in two different symbols which help show the best way that one should view nature. The downstream and the upstream of the river have unique characteristics, and Dillard also compares them to darkness and light. By using powerful imagery and diction, Dillard is able to compare the two types of seeing and explain why letting go of the desire to see is the best way to look at things. Dillard s powerful imagery throughout the essay is crucial for understanding the differences in seeing. For example, she is able to describe something as broad as nature by using a simile such as, nature is like one of those line drawings of a tree that are puzzles for children (19). • 37. Assessing India s Mobile Number Portability India has more than 900 million mobile connections. To assess the MNP it is of paramount importance to understand the psyche of the Indian consumer. More than 95% mobile subscribers are prepaid, reflecting a price sensitive consumer. This in conjunction with aggressive price competition has led to a high churn rate. Under these circumstances MNP should be high in demand. But contrary to this in the first 12 months after MNP implementation in 2011, only 5% of the churning customers preferred to take benefit of MNP, clearly indicating lower affinity for the same number. This trend could be attributed to several factors. Subscribers in India lack the patience to wait a week for while the porting procedure is completed. On the other hand the prominence of free SIM cards, instantly available at every nook and corner, has very much reduced consumer s apprehension of letting go of the number. Growth in Multi Sim card devices has also helped consumers to hold on to the previous numbers while going in for a new cheaper alternative. What did not help is the discretion used by the operators in many cases to reject porting applications. In such a high churn market, the 90 day waiting period between two porting applications restricts the free movement of subscribers, who are always on the lookout for the cheapest telecom plan. This may appear to be a self regarding action until one considers the cost such individuals impose on taxpayers.
