Resiliency has always been a highly favored characteristic amongst societies. In Robert Frost s On a
Tree Fallen Across the Road the resiliency of the narrator and a group of individuals was challenged.
In the sonnet, a group of individuals were traveling through the woods when a heavy wind storm
knocked a tree in front of them, which resulted in a bar in their pathway. Although after the group of
individuals overcame their tribulation they received a new outlook to life. In the sonnet; On a Tree
Fallen Across the Road, Robert Frost presented imagery and a metaphor in order to communicate his
thoughts and feelings on trials, ultimately Frost illustrated that resiliency through trials result in a new
perspective of life. Frost described the literal meaning of the sonnet through imagery. Through Frost s
description the audience was able to know the sonnet s setting was in a windy environment near trees.

Wednesday December 21st, is unacceptable and simply will not be tolerated.

will be the nurses working today. As I provided them with the answer, the replies were shocking, to
me! The parents of the 3 requested that they have another nurse to care for them instead of Martha.
My reply to them was we all aim to provide excellent service. All three parents had similar responses

Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy, and John Lennon, and then moves on to more obscure
examples. Instead of trying to build an argument, Ellison seemed to be more caught up with anger and
the notion of conspiracies. He does however try to use the intensify technique of Rank s model, to
persuade the reader of the horror of deaths caused by guns and their importance. Although Ellison did
try to persuade his audience in a different manor, I felt it was ineffective at best,
