The Challenges Of Being a University Student and a Mom Essay
Within the growing number of women in higher education, there is a growing population of students
who are also mothers. Mothers attempting to obtain a degree contend with home and family demands
that affect their degree completion rates (Carney Crompton Tan, 2002; Home, 1998). These
postsecondary education students, unlike their traditional peers, are not developing into adult identities
that are supported by a traditional college setting (Arnett, Ramos Jensen, 2001; Arnett, 2000) but
instead already have an adult identity as a mother (Wilsey, 2013) with a different set of needs and
because of the familial responsibility motherhood brings with it these women are no longer traditional
students (Cross, 1981; Bean Metzer, 1985, 1987; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is through better understanding the student mother experiences and the types of institutional
supports they may or may not need that we can assist them in becoming more active members of the
academy, staying in postsecondary education versus stopping out or dropping out and decrease the
marginalization they experience in the traditional model of the university. Thus, the qualitative
research study discussed in this paper was conducted in 2008 2009 and involved in depth interviewing
and a short survey. Furthermore, the sample that participated in this research study included 24 student
mothers (ages 18 30) with children under the age of five, who are also enrolled part time in
undergraduate or graduate coursework (i.e., at least one class per semester). Mothers of children under
five are unique because children within this age cohort are more dependent on their caregivers and are
normally not in school full time. Consequently, women s motherhood responsibilities are less flexible
than they might be in future years. The findings discussed in this article will address a portion of the
overall outcomes from this research study focusing on the experiences these student mothers had with
institutional support available via the university and the needs that the student mothers believe should
be addressed by universities in order to improve the student mother educational

Use Of Language And Concepts Depicted Throughout The...
Expression is imperative to the human condition and is the primary reason why music has managed to
subside throughout the centuries in various forms. For many, music extends beyond rhythm and beat,
and is a means of communicating one s experiences and narrating those experiences to their
comprehension of the world. For African Americans, music was a symbol of cultural identity and a
way to translate the daily oppressions they were forced to endure. Insight and evidence into this is
depicted widely throughout the Spirituals and the Blues, where the hardships of slavery and troubles
associated with being African American are greatly expressed. While African American music has
evolved and new genres have sprung into existence, differences in the ways that they communicate
and express themselves have arisen. However, some aspects have remained similar and language
usage has demonstrated a correlation between the two. The songs Soon I Will Be Done and Trouble in
Mind demonstrate how use of language and concepts depicted within the Blues emits evidence to its
emergence from the spirituals. In the spiritual Soon I Will Be Done , the writer discusses how the
sufferings and difficulties that they are momentarily facing will transcend into a distant memory due
to the hope that is near. This hope is evidently God as the writer clearly states Soon I will be done with
the troubles of the world. Going home to live with God . Throughout the Spiritual, the writer s
circumstances are

What Is A Foreign Learning Experience
What kind of foreign language learning experiences have you had?
My first foreign language learning experiences go back to 1993 when I went to the English Institute.
That was located in Benghazi, and run by professionals from Garyounis University. I learnt how to
speak. I had to learn a short dialogue every day by heart. The students were given a short dialogue, as
a home work, to read and learn by heart with learning the implication. No listening or writing skills.
Only Reading and Speaking. Grammar points were pointed out by the teacher and explained. Also, the
teacher would monitor our pronunciation and make correction when necessary. The learning process
was mainly reading, memorizing and come the next day and practice what had been learnt with other
learners.
Having finished my secondary school studies, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have been keen on learning as I have always been in pursuit of learning anything related to the
teaching English and language learning.
I believe that a learner must be a high flier and ambitious to learn the language. I don t believe in
spoon feeding. Learners should not be only receptive but also producers. Classroom activities are
important and can make the whole class contribute and get into interaction. This will help learners to
overcome their embarrassment and break the ice.
Despite the long years of experiences and working as second language teacher, I still feel not satisfied
with my standard.
I believe my experience in teaching EFL in an English language environment has benefited me a lot,
though.
I would like to think my experience of teaching English to both adults and children has allowed me to
contribute positively to any course of any group of learners of English. I believe my skills have
developed and make my teaching more effective. With a Celta course I am quite sure it will help me to
do very well in my job.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bitcoin
Bitcoin is a platform which serves the role of intermediaries exactly as a traditional institution. It helps
in making it harder to cheat in transactions and reduction in the value of credibility lent trusted
intermediaries. A lack of trust becomes less of an impediment to trade opening up financial market
participants (Obstfeld and Rogoff. 334). It is able to save cost, speeds up the clearing and settlement,
as well as brings the reduction of the operational risks. It could also help implement tailor made
transactions protocol which means it would keep transaction detail confidential and the supervisors are
able to receive the records as the same time. It improves the bargaining power of sellers and buyers
when they deal with brokers which can be it s most significant function (Dirk 1). Bitcoin like any
other currency has some demerits associated with its use. First, the value of bitcoin fluctuates
periodically causing bitcoin accepting sites to continually adjust their prices which bring confusion in
a refund for a product made. Likewise, there is no buyer protection where the seller cannot reverse the
transactions. Bitcoin also causes deflation as the total number of bitcoin maxes out. This leads to
spending surges which cause the bitcoin economy to be unstable which eventually causes
unpredictability. Bitcoin also has no physical form which makes it harder to be used in physical store.
Bitcoin users are forced to convert the currency to store it. In the article, there

Student Retention Is A Growing Problem
Many colleges and universities throughout the United States and several other countries face a
common problem. Student retention is a growing problem across the nation for all ethnic groups and
all ages. Each individual who chooses to drop out of school has their own personal reasons as to why
they do. However, many drops out can be completely avoided. When students drop out they are not
clearly thinking about how it s going to affect their future, the future of their children and even
grandchildren. Although there are several reasons as to why students drop out of school, we will be
exploring a few as it relates to why student retention is a growing problem.
Transitioning into higher education presents challenges for all students, whether it s their age or
previous educational history. Numerous individuals are extremely nervous as they are entering into an
advanced environment such as higher education. This because college is a new learning environment
at a completely different level. However, freshmen find college to be difficult at first because it s
harder for them to adjust. That s why many universities should have student centers in place to help
students. Student centers give students the pathway for flexible learning as it results in being
successful in higher education (Baužienė Vosyliūtė 2015).
Lin and Tsai (2008) used a quantitative approach to understanding student retention; however, they
used their research to understand students loyalty. As fast as

Essay on Absolutism
Absolutism During the pre Enlightenment period, France and England went through very dramatic
and very different government change. At the beginning of this time period, England had achieved
relative stability, due largely in part to Elizabeth I long and successful reign. On the other hand, France
had been subjected to numerous civil and religious wars, therefore leading to instability. French
absolutism was largely a result of these crises and tragedies, with the country recognizing the need for
a strong, powerful leader, which they found during the long and successful reign of Louis XIV. In
England however, many problems arose due to a series of short and incapable rulers, beginning with
James I and ending with James II. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to do this, he need to have control of three key elements: the military, tax collection, and the
judicial system, all of which had been controlled locally. In order to seize these powers, Louis needed
to create a bureaucratic system answerable only to the king. Essentially, Louis had to seize power
from the hands of the nobles. Louis succeeded in creating a national tax collection process, where
taxes were paid directly to the king rather then the nobles. This way, by the end of his reign, Louis was
collecting 80% of the taxes due to him whereas before, with the nobles acting as middlemen, only
30% of the taxes due to the king were actually received. In order to placate the nobles, he exempted
them from taxes, thus appealing to their senses while stripping them of their power. The nobles began
to believe that the only way to achieve a stable and prosperous state and secure their own interests was
to support Louis monarchy. Louis used much of this money to create a centralized military of
professional soldiers and gradually took the military power from the individual regions. Military
allegiance was due only to the king, so the danger of military rebellion was greatly reduced. He took
away regional independence by dividing the country into six generalités, each one governed by an
appointed member of the upper class rather then a noble. These governors were required to spend a
large amount of time at

Essay On Sharpen My Instruments
On Thursday, September 28th my morning and afternoon patients cancelled the night before. After
making a few phone calls I was able to schedule my patient NN for the afternoon. It worked well
because her next appointment was scheduled for November 10th since that was my next Thursday
appointment on my schedule. During the morning since I did not have a patient, I decided to sharpen
my instruments because my afternoon patient had a lot of supra and subgingival calculus and I wanted
to be ready to effectively remove them all. I washed a video to refresh the basic concepts on sharping
and I was able to do a sharpen competency. Dental hygienists depend on a very sensitive tactile touch

I thought that showing her some intraoral photos of her supragingival calculus will help them to be
more diligent in putting in practice my recommendations on brushing and flossing. I tried to have
everything organized and ready for my afternoon patient because my plan was to SRP the UR and LR
quadrants. First, I updated her medical and dental history, and took her vitals. My patient NN is 58
years old with an excellent health. Her blood pressure was 99/65, pulse: 65, and respiration: 20. After
explaining the procedure to my patient, I asked for her consent to administer anesthesia and she
agreed. For the UR and LR quadrants I used 20% benzocaine as my topic anesthesia and 2% lidocaine
(1:100,000) to infiltrate the PSA, MSA, and ASA; Dr Landry did the IA and the Long. In all of the
sites we got negative aspiration, no complications and anesthesia was achieved. I started with the
cavitron and then followed with my hand instruments; my patient had some 7 mm pockets and for
those I used the after 5 instruments. My patient was comfortable during the whole procedure, and
while we were waiting for the lower teeth to get anesthetized, I went over the flossing and the
brushing techniques. I recommended the used of interdental brushes because she has recessions and
will help her clean better the interproximal spaces. Also, I advised her to use warm water and salt
twice a day. The patient wanted to know if we

This Is Just To Say Essay
This Is Just To Say is a quick poem by the novelist, and poet William Carlos Williams. Readers might
never believe elderly s saying about how poetry can be about anything and everything until reading
this poem. After all, who writes a poem to confess their guilt and ask for forgiveness? According to
Andrew Spacey, who is an author and analyst, William Carlos Williams wrote a quick note to his wife
one morning, a passing gesture, and stuck it on the [refrigerator] before heading off to work (Spacey).
Fascinatingly, Williams s eloquence and genuine feelings turned such a quick note into a marvelous
short poem. Although this poem is less organized than Williams s other poems, it displays old
generations ideas of how simple words can depict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Williams, for sure, likes simplicity and does not like polished things. It is very interesting that all of
his poems can explain each other. For example, Williams explained in Tract that he doesn t like
decorations that are not necessary (while teaching his city people) the flowers or / the lack of them or
what? (Williams). When applying those lines to This Is Just To Say, they will read something like This
is just to say/ punctuations or / the lack of them so what? In Tract, Williams shows that unless
something is a necessity, people should not have it I will teach you / my townspeople ... over a troop /
of [an] artist unless one should ... scour the world /you have the ground sense / necessary (Tract).
In This Is Just To Say, however, he applies his method by not including any punctuation. Some people
might argue against this claim, but I believe that Williams loved simplicity. Words like icebox,
breakfast, and Forgive, in my opinion, show that he loves being straightforward. Perhaps, that s why
he did not use any begging words to ask for forgiveness. He wants to tell his readers that he is a
human being, temptations can overwhelm him, but he still deserves

this case. Good Year feel like if they pay the correct amount they will have satisfied the courts

they were only obligated to pay that amount only.
The legal issue
Should the Plaintiffs really get the $1.3 million ordered by the Courts? Should they be awarded any

The holding of the court
It was found that no, Good Year Tire Rubber Company was not responsible for the other cost and
losses of the Plaintiffs. Good Year was not obligated to pay the Plaintiffs since there was no agreement
made for payment. The error that was found was bought to Good Year s attention but the attorneys
failed to agree on the correct amount.
What do you think?
I think that Good Year Tires should pay the Plaintiffs the correct amount from the parentages the

Change communities that are like Irvington. Both Martin Luther King and Barrack Obama have a
Superb comprehension of the extreme and diverse difficulties faced in African American

Illuminating light on the problems seen in Irvington, because we have allowed other

Ecocide In Aranyak-Of The Forest-An Ecocide
Aranyak Of the Forest An Ecocide: The term ecocide refers to extensive damage done to the
ecosystem of a territory due to human atrocities or to such an extent that the normal living of the
inhabitants is severely disturbed ( Ecosophy Wikipedia , 2017). Human nature is essentially
anthropocentric which assumes the primacy of man over other organisms in the environment. We are
committing ecocide by deforestation of a land, burning fossil fuel, emitting green house gases from
the industrial hubs, by exploiting natural ecocritical understanding of Aranyak Of the Forest (1976) in
the light of ecocide. Ecocriticism is best exhibited in Aranyak Of the Forest where the protagonist
Satyacharan, a city dweller gets hypnotized by nature. Initially urban lifestyle revolted against the
loneliness of the forest. He has been sent to the forest as an estate manager to clear up a forest land of
30 thousand bighas. But as the novel progresses he fell madly in love with nature. The novel is told in
the manner of a reverie which ever haunts his imagination. It is a good example of an ecocide. The

How Does Edgar Allan Poe Use Imagery In The Luncheons
How does he use descriptive imagery to establish the setting . This is a story by edgar allan poe that
was published in november of 1846 in a womans magazine. During the story he uses many types of
imagery. He seems to try to use many of these to establish a well made story. This story is so well
established to be creepy and disturbing that in many parts of the story he lets the reader think for
themselves so many people have different opinions on the story. He is well descriptive but rellys so
much on imagery in this story than some of the others. ¨The vaults are insufferably damp. They are
encrusted with niter.¨ In this part of the story he is trying to show the reader how damp the vaults are
because of the niter. He does a really good job of showing us how it feels down there like in this
sentence ¨We passed through long walls of piled skeletons , with casks and puncheons intermingling,

Unsheathing my rapier, I began to grope with it about the recess; but the thought of an instant

person he is. This shows that he is one person you don t want to mess with he seems to try to threaten

The Control Variables For Investment Derivatives Use
The control variables used in this thesis were selected based on previous literature.
Including the variables that previous researchers have shown to influence firm derivatives use will
improve the explanatory power of the model (Knopf et al., 2002).
3.4.1 Control variable for CDS model
Drawing upon the existing literature in derivatives use, CDS use is modeled as a function of CEOs
risk taking incentives generated by stock options compensation (vega) and the following control
variables: growth opportunities, financial distress (leverage), firm focus (diversification), managers
risk aversion, delta, bank size, and other derivatives.
Growth opportunities are considered by previous studies to affect derivatives use (Smith and Stulz, ...

According to Smith and Stulz (1985), firms that face higher expected costs of financial distress have
larger incentives to use derivatives because derivatives can reduce the present value of bankruptcy and
the probability of financial distress. Firms can use derivatives to reduce the variance of a firm s cash
flow or earnings which enable firm to have sufficient cash flow to fulfill its fixed payment obligations
and reduce the probability of financial distress (Aretz and Bartram, 2010; Supanvanij and Strauss,
2010). Similarly to previous studies, I have used leverage as a proxy for financial distress (e.g.,
Tufano, 1996; Rogers, 2002; Aretz and Bartram, 2010). Leverage is measured with the ratio of total
debt to book value of assets (e.g., Coles et al; 2006).
I include diversification as a control variable for firm focus. Earlier empirical studies (e.g., Tufano,
1996; Géczy et al., 2007) suggest a negative relationship between the degree of diversification and
derivatives use. Firms can choose to reduce firm risk through changing the level of diversification
(Coles et al., 2006; Bartram et al., 2011). For all the banks in the sample, I collect information on the
degree of diversification which is measured by the number of geographical segments of the firm at the
end of each year (Géczy et al., 1997; Fung et al., 2012). The primary source of data on the number of
segments is Datastream

A class action lawsuit can be defined as a case in which, one plaintiff represents the entire group of
plaintiffs, including those who are unaware of the lawsuit or even unaware they were harmed. Class
action lawsuits may be more efficient than individual cases, in the circumstance where many
individuals were injured. Additionally a class certification may increase the plaintiff s influence in a
case as it increases the liability of the defendant. Class actions play an essential role in holding
corporations accountable for their widespread unlawful behavior, particularly when the harm suffered
by each individual is small relative to the larger discriminatory picture. Class certification policies

Reflection On Group Therapy Reaction
Group Therapy Reaction
Thus far in the program I have had the opportunity to experience the process of group therapy.
Luckily, I have had the opportunity to run group sessions at my practicum site, so I have gained
substantial information about the group process. As I have learned in this program, group therapy is a
powerful form of therapy that allows group members to complete their therapeutic goals in a group
setting. As a therapist, I believe it is essential to experience what group process is like. For this class
assignment we were required to record a video session of a group session demonstrating skills
discussed by Yalom in our required text. This paper will serve the purpose to explore my reaction of
the experience of leading the group, reflections on the Yalom skills I incorporated, and my views on
the strengths I displayed as a leader. In addition, I will explore ways I can improve as a group leader.
From this assignment, my hope is to complete a session with tenants of Yalom, and make
improvements to my therapeutic style.
Reaction
Prior to starting the assignment, I was extremely confident in running groups because at my practicum
site I ran two education groups and one process group each day I was at my site. Going into the
assignment, I had an idea which direction I wanted to go in for the video. Being that I do not live in
California like my classmates, and I completed my work at my practicum site, finding members for
my group proved to be extremely

Wine Consumer Behavior
WINE CONSUMER BEHAVIOUR: AN IRISH WINE MARKET ANALYSIS. A LITERATURE
REVIEW.
Sarah Geraghty Shannon College of Hotel Management sarahgeraghty@shannoncollege.com
ABSTRACT
The Irish wine market, worth €1.65 billion in 2009 (DIGI, 2010), has experienced unprecedented
growth in the last fifteen years, growing from an 8% share of the overall alcoholic beverage market in
Ireland in 1994 (WDB, 2007) to 22% in 2007 (DIGI, 2009). Relative to the long history of wine
making and wine drinking, the marketing of wine is in its infancy (Thomas and Pickering, 2003). With
approximately 1,451,000 wine drinkers (WDB, 2004) Ireland is an attractive and profitable target
market for international wine brands.
This research aims to analyse the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This paper also outlines the direction of future research to address the shortcomings of research to date
and to provide marketers of wine with more rounded and meaningful insights into the wine
consumption behaviour in Ireland.
BACKGROUND TO THE IRISH WINE MARKET
The Irish wine market has experienced tremendous growth over the past 15 to 20 years, with an
almost five fold increase in the consumption of wine from 1.7 million cases in 1990 to 8.2 million
cases in 2007 (WDB, 2008). DIGI (2010) reported a 6.9% decline in wine consumption (by volume in
2009), however this decline took place in a year when the overall alcohol market contracted by about
10% due to poor national economic performance (DIGI, 2010, p. 6). Despite the recent drop in
consumption over the past year, the 450% growth in the Irish wine market since 1990, and the shifts in
demand and preference result in the Irish wine market becoming an important target market for wine
brands.
Preferences of Irish wine consumers have changed with a notable shift towards New World wines,
from a 6% market share in 1990 to a 68% share in 2007 (WDB, 2008). Previously, wine was a highly
inaccessible product in the market, with high prices, limited selections, and complex labelling (Farren,
2003). In more recent years, wine has become widely available and increasingly affordable and
accessible. Quinton and

Goodwill Impairment at Jackson Enterprises Case
1. When is a company required to perform the two step test for goodwill impairment? Explain in your
own words and provide citation from the ASC.
Goodwill is considered impaired when the implied fair value of goodwill in a reporting unit of a
company is less than its carrying amount, or book value, including any deferred income taxes. By
qualitative factors, if the fair value is less than its book value (likelihood more than 50%), two step of
the goodwill impairment test is necessary. According to ASC 350 20 35 2 and 3(A amp;B amp;D), if
the company determines that it is not more likely than not that fair value is less than the book value, it

According the above assessment of qualitative factors for both companies, I think that the goodwill

Dynamic has 3% of gross profit margins over competitors, it was not enough to offset the negative
impacts; I think that the goodwill impairment test is not necessary for ZD. Due to ZD shows all
positive impacts improving operation condition.

Children and Traumatic Grief
Nader and Salloum (2011) made clear that, at different ages, children differ in their understanding of
the universality, inevitability, unpredictability, irreversibility, and causality of death. They believed,
despite the increasing understanding with age of the physical aspects of death, a child may
simultaneously hold more than one idea about the characteristics of death. However, factors that
complete the determining nature of childhood grieving across different age groups may be a difficult
task for a number of reasons including their environment in means of the support they have available,
the child s nature in terms of their personality, genetics, and gender, coping skills and previous
experiences, the developmental age, grieving style, whether or not therapy was received, and the
relationship to the deceased (Nader Salloum, 2011). Crenshaw (2005) found that according to our
current understanding of childhood traumatic grief and normal grief, thoughts and images of a
traumatic nature are so terrifying, horrific, and anxiety provoking that they cause the child to avoid
and shut out these thoughts and images that would be comforting reminders of the person who died.
The distressing and intrusive images, reminders, and thoughts of the traumatic circumstances of the
death, along with the physiological hyper arousal associated with such re experiencing, prevent the
child from proceeding in a healthy way with the grieving process (Crenshaw, 2005). McClatchy, Vonk,

The International Level Through Foreign Language...
In a rapid globalizing world, America is not prepared to continue outshining other nations. Year after
year, countries throughout the globe are better preparing young individuals in the mathematics,
science and engineering fields. Students are better equipped to collaborate at the international level
through foreign language acquisition and increased global cultural knowledge. New generations bring
new ideas, goals and standards, thus the rational ignorance of American citizens will further prevent
the United States from developing at its highest level. Keeping up with the global competition will
require a transformation in societal perspectives, with help from the media, as well as different
educational focuses beginning at the elementary level. The United States is not destined to fail, but
worldwide competition is increasing and adjustments are necessary for the American population and
its educational system in order to maintain competitiveness. According to the Organization for
Economic Co Operation and Development, the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA)
rated the United States 24th out of 34 OECD countries (Programme for International Student
Assessment Results from PISA, 2012). The PISA is designed to test 15 year old students to determine
if they can apply the skills and knowledge obtained in preceding educational years to real world
situations; PISA scores demonstrate the student s capability of participating in modern societies

Voluntourism In America
Voluntourism is a form of tourism, which travelers do voluntary work for a charity. Voluntourism,
which has become more popular in the recent past, started with good intentions of white westerners
spreading their knowledge and resources. Some forms of voluntourism have helped communities, but
not in orphanages. The good idea has transformed into a conscious clearing photo op that s
permanently affecting orphans and people in the international orphanage community. Voluntourism is
glamorizing orphanages making them appear better than lives at home, causing parents to surrender
their parental rights in order to give them a better life. The unthought of repercussions of orphanage

To solve this issue, we need to protect the orphans. We need to stop letting orphanages be treated like
daycare, need better background checks and training for volunteers, and stop letting inhumane
behaviors happen in our orphanages. Orphanages need more funding, better trained volunteers and
better resources. Orphans have been through alot and are resilient, but we need to protect orphans
around the world, giving them the closest thing we can to their families. With good volunteers, we can
change these kids lives and get them into the lives they deserve. Children are amazingly resilient... we
find that if we get them out of institutions and into loving families early on, they recover their
developmental delays and go on to lead normal happy lives.

The Pros And Cons Of Police Body Cameras
The social media and the public might want police body cam footage release but sometimes it might
be to graphic or controversial. Police body cameras have been a topic since the incident with Michael
Brown in august of 2014. Police shot and killed an unarmed individual in ferguson, MO, leading to
many people wanting cameras on police. Whether the cameras are a good idea or not this paper will
explore the facts and sides of police body cameras. Overall body cameras should be required Because
they can save the lives of the innocent, keep innocent people from going to jail, and can help a case as
more evidence.
What is a body camera, a body camera is a small unit that is placed on police officer. It is usually a
small unit place on a officers glasses, shoulder, or on the chest. Most unit are self contained but if it
were malfunction the are a bit expensive to replace (Erstad). These cameras have to be manually
turned on and off (EInvestigators). These cameras can possibly break or malfunction on the job but
only in a rare cases (EInvestigators). Some of these cameras take a lot of maintenance to keep running
like software and SD cards storage. As these cameras are getting more widespread and so city are
making them mandatory to be on police at all times. But with more cameras there is more footage and
people want that footage released for the public to have an opinion on. But releasing the footage might
cause some controversy and may not be suitable for public eyes. This type of issue causes a lot of
problems Some examples of the raw footage being released into the public can cause problems. One
such case is Michael Bennet at the Mayweather vs. Mcgregor fight where there were falsely reported
gunshots and Michael was running out of the building when police stopped and was detained for 17
minutes. He seen as running from the cops so they considered him suspicious and was detained. There
were false accusations before the footage was released and the case was closed with no one being
arrested or hurt (Chiari). Another such case is with officer Anthony Cano who came up to a wrecked
car on the side of the road. When he searched the vehicle some one was inside and he seemed
suspicious and the officer asked

minority groups. By the 1960s, these policies began to spark resistance in the form of armed groups
fighting with guerilla warfare, similar to the methods used Algeria and Palestine resistance

The Measure Of Concealed Weapons Onto College Campuses
The ability to carry concealed weapons onto college campuses has always been an area of contention.
In 1990, Congress passed the Clery Act which created gun free zones in primary and secondary
schools. Around that same time many states passed laws prohibiting weapons on college campuses as
well. (Lyons, 2017) In recent years there has been a stronger focus on college related shootings and
deaths which has re ignited the conversation regards concealed weapons on college campuses. The
most prominent political value that is in conflict with itself is freedom. The 2nd Amendment of the
United States Constitution grants citizens the right to bear arms. Many gun rights activists believe that

For opponents of concealed carry on campuses, they argue that by having guns on college campuses,
they are less free. Freedom is so ambiguous because it is completely subjective to every individual.
What makes one individual feel free might make another individual terrified. Another political value
that is in conflict with itself is security. People who are for concealed carry at universities claim that it
would be for their security. Since 2002, 64 people have been killed in mass shootings on college
campuses. (Lyons, 2016) One individual is quoted as saying that The only way to stop a bad guy with
a gun is with a good guy with a gun. (Lyons, 2017) This quote conveys the feelings of many concealed
carry supporters who say that they do not feel safe being restricted as to where they can and cannot
carry their personal weapon. Opponents of this idea claim that allowing guns on college campuses
would conflict with their own personal safety. Many say that the more weapons we have on college
campuses, the more likely an attack or accident is to happen. An idea that has been tossed around
would be to allow only faculty and staff to carry concealed weapons. However, opponents still have
some hesitations. Daniel Webster of Johns Hopkins University stated that if faculty and staff were

Increased Rates of Teen Pregnancy among Minorities
Increased rates of teen pregnancy among minorities The incidence of teen births in the United States
has reached a historic all time low throughout the last couple of years but teen girls are still giving
birth to 1700 babies a week. However, minorities are still amongst the highest group of teenagers
having children among the age group between 15 and 19 years of age. The highest ethnic groups were
comprised of Hispanics and Non Hispanic blacks making up 57% of all US teen births in 2011,
according to a study done by the CDC in 2011. American Indians and Alaskan Natives had the third
highest birth rates at about 36 births per 1000 females. The smallest occurrence of teen births per 1000
came from the Asian/Pacific Islander population. However, the continuously low population group
with teen pregnancies involved White individuals so the question remains, why are most minority
groups more likely to give birth within their teenage years? Research shows that about 80 percent of
all the teenagers between the age group of 15 17 had no formal sexual education before their first
sexual experience. Regardless of their ethnicity, all students can be affected by the lack of sexual
education at their respected school. Interestingly enough, President Obama has recently cut the budget
for abstinence only sex education. However, this was done because current research indicates that
abstinence only programs do not prevent or delay teen sex. Many teens say that their schools tend to

Analysis Of The Movie Braveheart By William Wallace
If people hear the name William Wallace, they might think of the Mel Gibson movie, Braveheart . As
that is a great movie, it s not nearly the full story of William Wallace. Therefore, a hunt for the truth of
the real the story was underway. William Wallace was born in 1270 s in Scotland, but not much is
known about his childhood but that he lived with his father, Sir Malcom Wallace, on a small piece of
land in Scotland. (BBC) and (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica) This is dock number one on the
movie. Although some may say, Shame on you Hollywood, for making up the childhood of this
remarkable history hero , At the time of Wallace s childhood, Scotland was starting its decline into
succession when it was taken over by England. Therefore, the stories could, in fact, be true, although
no evidence proves it. As Wallace grew up he learned how to fight battles logically, which overtime
made him grow very respected with the men he met. He was taught to think before he would speak.
He was a natural born leader and would hold his position firmly. This led to battles won where he had
very few men, but a very passionate and trusting crew because Wallace was their leader. In 1296, the
king of England, Edward I, took advantage of the succession in Scotland and declared himself as ruler
of Scotland with English administration. Only a few revolts had taken place when sheriffs were
subject to different areas of Scotland, and even fewer were successful. So far it seems as though

Sociological Analysis On Interfaith Marriage Essay
Sociological Analysis on Interfaith Marriage The family issue I will be analyzing is interfaith
marriage. Interfaith marriage is simply marriage between two people who belong to or identify with
different religious groups. However simple the definition may seem, the reality of interfaith marriage
can be far more complex. For most of human history it has been a social taboo to marry outside of one
s faith. However, in recent years it has become much more acceptable, even to the point of seeming to
essentially be a non factor as far as society is concerned. Nevertheless, with the inevitable differences
in customs and beliefs, and despite social acceptance, interfaith marriages can still cause major
conflict in the household. This paper will explore seven different sociological theories, and attempt to
explain how they can decipher the effects of interfaith marriage upon the family.
Family Ecology Theory Family ecology theory looks at how families are influenced by, and
subsequently influence their environment. In their text, The Marriage and Family Experience: Intimate
Relationships in a Changing Society, Bryan Strong and Theodore Cohen (2014) list four levels to the
environment to which individuals adapt: the microsystem, which contains the most immediate
influences with which individuals have frequent contact, e.g. families, peers, schools, etc.; the
mesosystem, which consists of the interconnections between microsystems, i.e. school, work, and
home experiences; the

The Habits Of Highly Effective People By Stephen R. Covey...
7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
When I went through professor s required book list, I recognized the book, 7 Habits of Highly
Effective People, at my first glance. I do remember that I read its Chinese version which was a present
from my grandfather almost ten years ago when I was a teenager. Shortly after feeling excited, I was a
little embarrassed because I barely remember the 7 habits. Now as an adult almost a decade later, after
finished the book, the original work, I was impressed. The immaturity made me believe that most of
the points of Covey were too obvious and trite to make sense. But now those things Covey talked
about are actually tough challenges in my life. The precondition of the Covey s theory is that a lot of
people fix the problems in a scattershot approach which will eventually lead to chaos or
disappointment for the most time. The author s answer to this is to be an effective person. People
needs to learn to solve problems from personal life, study and work with an approach based on a same
core values. The book is about how to develop the core values basically through the seven habits in
order to be a more effective person. The seven habits also help to achieve greater insights into
leadership and management in people s personal and professional life in the effective way.
The seven habits are: 1. Be proactive 2. Begin with the end in mind 3. Put first things first 4. Think
win win 5. First understand, then be understood 6.

The movie Easy Rider revolves around two bikers making a trip from Los Angeles to New Orleans, to
attend Mardi Gras. The first scene in the film involves the two main characters selling a good amount
of cocaine to a man in Rolls Royce. After the drug deal the bikers begin their journey to Mardi Gras,
but not before one of them removes his watch and throws it on the ground. I found this indicative of
his pursuit of freedom, because time serves only to constrain us. Once on the road you learn that their
names are Wyatt and Billy, an obvious reference to Wyatt Earp and Billy the Kid who are considered
American legends, as well as outlaws. Wyatt rides a chopper with the stars and stripes on the gas ...

This interaction serves to underscore the difference between Wyatt and the Hitchhiker. The hitchhiker
wants to be a fictional character; he is running from the city. Wyatt on the other hand only wants to be
himself; he is searching for something.
Wyatt and Billy bring the hiker to a commune that he lives in. Throughout this section, there is a
peaceful feeling. The commune was an idea that came to moderate popularity during the 60s
especially. This shows the idea in a very positive light. Everyone seems to be getting along, people are
having fun, and they re all sharing the workload. There isn t much food left, but the people are
working on growing food. Wyatt truly admires the people on the commune and tells Billy that they ll
make it . Wyatt feels comfortable there, as opposed to Billy who begins to freak out when the entire
commune is singing Does you hair hang low? This scene makes the differences between Wyatt and
Billy quite obvious. Wyatt is content to live in the middle of the desert on a commune for the rest of
his life. Billy on the other hand can t stand the communal life for more than one afternoon.
After leaving the commune, they get arrested for parading without a permit. This signifies a shift in
the environment. No longer are they cruising through the desert without a care in the world, they are
in the deep south which at the time was not exactly a bastion of free love and acceptance.

In The First Theory,Realism, The International System Is
In the first theory, Realism, the international system is defined by anarchy and the lack of a central
authority, meaning that states are independent from each other and no structure or system can establish
a forced relation among them. In this type of system, power is the main objective that each state plans
to accomplish because only by achieving this power they can protect themselves and survive.
According to this theory, there are different powers that a state plans to achieve for example the
military power, the economic power or the diplomatic power. States seek to achieve the instruments of
hard and soft power, to gain influence over other states and to accomplish this goal may be necessary
to engage in war, conflicts or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Realism theory explain that even if all the countries appear to have different objectives according
to particular circumstances, in reality they have common intentions, which are focused on re building
the logic of policy makers. And the last assumption sees a country as a unitary actor . The nature of
the international system defines the main problems that a country can face (Holsti, 1985) .
Realism was a dominant model of explaining the concept of international relations during the past six
decades and was considered to be a framework in order to analyses and understand better the First
World War, The Second World war, and the Cold War. But, Classical Realism is described as a
pessimistic theory of understanding the human nature, when is distinguished that egoism and self
interested attitude are base of the phenomenon known as homopoliticus . According to Classical
Realism, the question of why exists conflict and war in the world is founded on human nature
characteristics. In order to eliminate this problem, later was developed a new theory, the Modern
Realist theory, which pointed out that the structure of the international system can be used as an
instrument to explain and understand more the state behavior. The Modern Realists realized that words
like power , national interests or balance of power , are contradictory concepts. According to Classical
Realism theory, power is an important element, but the relation among power balance and political

Using Porter s Generic Strategies
Using Porter s generic strategies, identify examples of organisations following strategies of
differentiation, low cost or low price, and stuck in the middle or hybrid. How successful are these
strategies? An organisation bases its strategy according to its environment, and if implemented right
will be successful. Firms can target their products by a broad target, thereby covering most of the
marketplace, or they can focus on a narrow target in the market (Lynch, 2003). Michael Porter created
a generic strategies framework in order for an organisation to gain a competitive advantage in their
industry. Porter considers three generic strategies in his framework that an organisation can undertake
to gain this advantage. He believes that an organisation falls into either cost leadership (lower cost) or
differentiation and once applied in a broad or narrow scope, as discussed by Lynch, creates focus
(Figure 1). Furthermore, some organisations undertake in more that one of these strategies and if
unsuccessful is called the stuck in the middle strategy. However, if the organisation combines
elements of differentiation and elements of low cost successfully, this becomes and hybrid option and
is becoming increasingly popular amongst firms in the modern day. Figure 1 Source: Porter (1985)
The first part of Porter s framework includes the differentiation strategy across a broad target. The
generic of differentiation strategy involves creating a market position that is perceived

Summary Of Legalizing All Drugs
The main goal of this article is to provide the moral and economical arguments for legalizing all drugs
in the United States. The article begins by suggesting there is a cultural shift moving throughout the
United States regarding the use of marijuana however, also reveals that the majority of people still do
not support legalization of harder drugs such as heroin or cocaine. The author cites two polls which
compare the 58 percent of Americans that support marijuana legalization to the only 10 percent that
favor legalization of heroin or cocaine. The author then proceeds to explain that if the ultimate goal is
to minimize harm to users of drugs, then the right approach is to legalize them all. The article contains

Miron is the Senior Lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Studies at Harvard University as well as
the Senior Fellow and Director of Economic Studies at the Cato Institute. The author s current jobs
and positions at these prestigious schools proves that he is credible. Miron s main field of study is
economics which also displays that he knows what he is talking about and is not just trying to
advocate for recreational use of drugs. Although Miron is a clear advocate for the legalization of all
drugs, he backs up all his claims with evidence and is clearly well researched about this issue. This
article was written in 2014 and has appeared on both Cato Institute s website and in Time magazine.
To make sure people do understand the risks, Miron should have also provided the death statistics of
people who have overdosed on currently illegal drugs. Although many of these deaths are because of
the current war on drugs, the information would ensure that people understand the possible dangers
that come with legalization. This is, without a doubt, a credible source as it was written by a well
researched individual who is one of the few people voicing the truth about the failure of prohibition in
this country. It is hard to challenge the current drug policies especially when the majority of people do
not support your proposed changes, however, the author did an excellent job of offering an alternative
opinion with the support of

Sigmund Freud s An Outline Of Psychoanalysis
Theory The first pioneer, on the psychoanalyst front that acknowledged the significance of
unconscious cerebral functioning, was Sigmund Freud. He invented the term psychoanalysis in 1896,
and continuously developed the primary basics, aims, approaches and the methods relating to his
study of psychoanalysis , which he spent forty years of his life on after introducing the term in 1896.
Freud s work relates to several different topics within his field, to name a few Freud has dealt with, as
well as, published work on dream interpretation, the technique of psychoanalysis, as well as the
structural theory of the mind (Beystehner). In 1925 Freud s notions of psychoanalysis as a successful

Freud starts by clarifying the personality model he developed, which consists of the id, the ego, and
the superego (Beystehner). According to Freud, the id is the most unsophisticated and primitive part of
our entity (Storey), additionally, the unconscious part of the id is due to the brain s ability to suppress
instincts that people are born with, as well as things that are retained from birth. The ego is the
conscious part of the mind, as opposed to the id, which is the part of the mind that is in charge of
restraining pressures and the instincts within it. The ego is in charge of controlling impulses, and it
also to functions as a connection between the id and the outside population (Beystehner). The ego is
developed out of the id, and symbolizes sensibleness and soundness of mind as opposed to the
passions of the id (Storey). Lastly, the superego is in charge of managing orders from the id, as well
as, managing the restraints of pleasure and fulfillment achieved. The superego also depicts the impact
and sway people in authoritative positions, such as parents, teachers, and role models, as well as the
impact of racial, societal, and cultural traditions (Beystehner)

Birthright Citizenship As An American Exceptionalism
The Center for Immigration Studies took a worldwide look in 2010 and found that only 30 of the
world s 194 countries grant automatic citizenship to children born to illegal aliens (see Fig. 1). Fig. 1
After seeing that figure, I start to question that what is the significance of birthright citizenship, as an
American exceptionalism. Having done some related researches, I tend to agree with Eric Foner that
Birthright Citizenship, as nailed on the Fourteenth Amendment after the Civil War, symbols the
triumph of mankind. We shall preserve it well because it was the history of blood and death that raised
it up, uniting people with various colors and languages to form today s prosperous country honored in
the name United States . Had we lost that treasure of American Exceptionalism, I would question if
today s States could still be United . The history of Birthright Citizenship gives the reason for its
existence. Back to the year of 1857, in the Dred Scott decision passed by the Supreme Court, Chief
Justice Roger Taney declared that blacks were regarded as beings of an inferior order and altogether
unfit to associate with the white race, either in social or political relations; and so far inferior that they
had no rights which the white man was bound to respect , irritating all the free ones and slaveries who
pursued the basic rights to live as equal as the Caucasians did (Howard 407). As known to all, it was a
major fuse that ignited the Civil Wars, which

Interviews on Human Development Through Three Generations
The research project given in psychology class was to pick a topic and interview three generations on
the subject of my choice. In this paper I will talk about the following; each person I interviewed, their
responses to the questions, the difficulties I faced, the stages of development each generation is
experiencing, relating each generation to a theory, compare the similarities and differences each
generation is experiencing in their stage of development, and what I learned from this experience. The
topic I explored for each generation was music. Music can be a emotional experience, bring out
feeling that we may be experiencing at that time, bring people together, and memories of the past. The
three generations I picked to interview was an adolescence, early adulthood, and middle adulthood.
The interview process started with the youngest age group and ended with the eldest age of the group.
I had a series of interview questions and based on the age groups all the questions were the same for
each generation. The following research questions were asked to all three generations:
1. What kind of music did you listen to when you were younger and has your music style changed
over the years?
2. How did you buy your music and where?
3. What kind of device did you listen to your music on?
4. Does your mood determine the kind of music you listen too? Give me an example.
5. Did your parents approve of the kind of music you listened too? Why or why not?

  • 2. The Challenges Of Being a University Student and a Mom Essay Within the growing number of women in higher education, there is a growing population of students who are also mothers. Mothers attempting to obtain a degree contend with home and family demands that affect their degree completion rates (Carney Crompton Tan, 2002; Home, 1998). These postsecondary education students, unlike their traditional peers, are not developing into adult identities that are supported by a traditional college setting (Arnett, Ramos Jensen, 2001; Arnett, 2000) but instead already have an adult identity as a mother (Wilsey, 2013) with a different set of needs and because of the familial responsibility motherhood brings with it these women are no longer traditional students (Cross, 1981; Bean Metzer, 1985, 1987; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is through better understanding the student mother experiences and the types of institutional supports they may or may not need that we can assist them in becoming more active members of the academy, staying in postsecondary education versus stopping out or dropping out and decrease the marginalization they experience in the traditional model of the university. Thus, the qualitative research study discussed in this paper was conducted in 2008 2009 and involved in depth interviewing and a short survey. Furthermore, the sample that participated in this research study included 24 student mothers (ages 18 30) with children under the age of five, who are also enrolled part time in undergraduate or graduate coursework (i.e., at least one class per semester). Mothers of children under five are unique because children within this age cohort are more dependent on their caregivers and are normally not in school full time. Consequently, women s motherhood responsibilities are less flexible than they might be in future years. The findings discussed in this article will address a portion of the overall outcomes from this research study focusing on the experiences these student mothers had with institutional support available via the university and the needs that the student mothers believe should be addressed by universities in order to improve the student mother educational ... • 3. Use Of Language And Concepts Depicted Throughout The... Expression is imperative to the human condition and is the primary reason why music has managed to subside throughout the centuries in various forms. For many, music extends beyond rhythm and beat, and is a means of communicating one s experiences and narrating those experiences to their comprehension of the world. For African Americans, music was a symbol of cultural identity and a way to translate the daily oppressions they were forced to endure. Insight and evidence into this is depicted widely throughout the Spirituals and the Blues, where the hardships of slavery and troubles associated with being African American are greatly expressed. While African American music has evolved and new genres have sprung into existence, differences in the ways that they communicate and express themselves have arisen. However, some aspects have remained similar and language usage has demonstrated a correlation between the two. The songs Soon I Will Be Done and Trouble in Mind demonstrate how use of language and concepts depicted within the Blues emits evidence to its emergence from the spirituals. In the spiritual Soon I Will Be Done , the writer discusses how the sufferings and difficulties that they are momentarily facing will transcend into a distant memory due to the hope that is near. This hope is evidently God as the writer clearly states Soon I will be done with the troubles of the world. Going home to live with God . Throughout the Spiritual, the writer s circumstances are ... • 4. What Is A Foreign Learning Experience What kind of foreign language learning experiences have you had? My first foreign language learning experiences go back to 1993 when I went to the English Institute. That was located in Benghazi, and run by professionals from Garyounis University. I learnt how to speak. I had to learn a short dialogue every day by heart. The students were given a short dialogue, as a home work, to read and learn by heart with learning the implication. No listening or writing skills. Only Reading and Speaking. Grammar points were pointed out by the teacher and explained. Also, the teacher would monitor our pronunciation and make correction when necessary. The learning process was mainly reading, memorizing and come the next day and practice what had been learnt with other learners. Having finished my secondary school studies, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have been keen on learning as I have always been in pursuit of learning anything related to the teaching English and language learning. I believe that a learner must be a high flier and ambitious to learn the language. I don t believe in spoon feeding. Learners should not be only receptive but also producers. Classroom activities are important and can make the whole class contribute and get into interaction. This will help learners to overcome their embarrassment and break the ice. Despite the long years of experiences and working as second language teacher, I still feel not satisfied with my standard. I believe my experience in teaching EFL in an English language environment has benefited me a lot, though. I would like to think my experience of teaching English to both adults and children has allowed me to contribute positively to any course of any group of learners of English. I believe my skills have developed and make my teaching more effective. With a Celta course I am quite sure it will help me to do very well in my job. Task ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bitcoin Bitcoin is a platform which serves the role of intermediaries exactly as a traditional institution. It helps in making it harder to cheat in transactions and reduction in the value of credibility lent trusted intermediaries. A lack of trust becomes less of an impediment to trade opening up financial market participants (Obstfeld and Rogoff. 334). It is able to save cost, speeds up the clearing and settlement, as well as brings the reduction of the operational risks. It could also help implement tailor made transactions protocol which means it would keep transaction detail confidential and the supervisors are able to receive the records as the same time. It improves the bargaining power of sellers and buyers when they deal with brokers which can be it s most significant function (Dirk 1). Bitcoin like any other currency has some demerits associated with its use. First, the value of bitcoin fluctuates periodically causing bitcoin accepting sites to continually adjust their prices which bring confusion in a refund for a product made. Likewise, there is no buyer protection where the seller cannot reverse the transactions. Bitcoin also causes deflation as the total number of bitcoin maxes out. This leads to spending surges which cause the bitcoin economy to be unstable which eventually causes unpredictability. Bitcoin also has no physical form which makes it harder to be used in physical store. Bitcoin users are forced to convert the currency to store it. In the article, there ... • 6. Student Retention Is A Growing Problem Many colleges and universities throughout the United States and several other countries face a common problem. Student retention is a growing problem across the nation for all ethnic groups and all ages. Each individual who chooses to drop out of school has their own personal reasons as to why they do. However, many drops out can be completely avoided. When students drop out they are not clearly thinking about how it s going to affect their future, the future of their children and even grandchildren. Although there are several reasons as to why students drop out of school, we will be exploring a few as it relates to why student retention is a growing problem. Transitioning into higher education presents challenges for all students, whether it s their age or previous educational history. Numerous individuals are extremely nervous as they are entering into an advanced environment such as higher education. This because college is a new learning environment at a completely different level. However, freshmen find college to be difficult at first because it s harder for them to adjust. That s why many universities should have student centers in place to help students. Student centers give students the pathway for flexible learning as it results in being successful in higher education (Baužienė Vosyliūtė 2015). Lin and Tsai (2008) used a quantitative approach to understanding student retention; however, they used their research to understand students loyalty. As fast as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Essay on Absolutism Absolutism During the pre Enlightenment period, France and England went through very dramatic and very different government change. At the beginning of this time period, England had achieved relative stability, due largely in part to Elizabeth I long and successful reign. On the other hand, France had been subjected to numerous civil and religious wars, therefore leading to instability. French absolutism was largely a result of these crises and tragedies, with the country recognizing the need for a strong, powerful leader, which they found during the long and successful reign of Louis XIV. In England however, many problems arose due to a series of short and incapable rulers, beginning with James I and ending with James II. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to do this, he need to have control of three key elements: the military, tax collection, and the judicial system, all of which had been controlled locally. In order to seize these powers, Louis needed to create a bureaucratic system answerable only to the king. Essentially, Louis had to seize power from the hands of the nobles. Louis succeeded in creating a national tax collection process, where taxes were paid directly to the king rather then the nobles. This way, by the end of his reign, Louis was collecting 80% of the taxes due to him whereas before, with the nobles acting as middlemen, only 30% of the taxes due to the king were actually received. In order to placate the nobles, he exempted them from taxes, thus appealing to their senses while stripping them of their power. The nobles began to believe that the only way to achieve a stable and prosperous state and secure their own interests was to support Louis monarchy. Louis used much of this money to create a centralized military of professional soldiers and gradually took the military power from the individual regions. Military allegiance was due only to the king, so the danger of military rebellion was greatly reduced. He took away regional independence by dividing the country into six generalités, each one governed by an appointed member of the upper class rather then a noble. After making a few phone calls I was able to schedule my patient NN for the afternoon. It worked well because her next appointment was scheduled for November 10th since that was my next Thursday appointment on my schedule. During the morning since I did not have a patient, I decided to sharpen my instruments because my afternoon patient had a lot of supra and subgingival calculus and I wanted to be ready to effectively remove them all. I thought that showing her some intraoral photos of her supragingival calculus will help them to be more diligent in putting in practice my recommendations on brushing and flossing. I tried to have everything organized and ready for my afternoon patient because my plan was to SRP the UR and LR quadrants. First, I updated her medical and dental history, and took her vitals. My patient NN is 58 years old with an excellent health. Her blood pressure was 99/65, pulse: 65, and respiration: 20. After explaining the procedure to my patient, I asked for her consent to administer anesthesia and she agreed. For the UR and LR quadrants I used 20% benzocaine as my topic anesthesia and 2% lidocaine (1:100,000) to infiltrate the PSA, MSA, and ASA; Dr Landry did the IA and the Long. In all of the sites we got negative aspiration, no complications and anesthesia was achieved. I started with the cavitron and then followed with my hand instruments; my patient had some 7 mm pockets and for those I used the after 5 instruments. My patient was comfortable during the whole procedure, and while we were waiting for the lower teeth to get anesthetized, I went over the flossing and the brushing techniques. I recommended the used of interdental brushes because she has recessions and will help her clean better the interproximal spaces. Also, I advised her to use warm water and salt twice a day. • 9. This Is Just To Say Essay This Is Just To Say is a quick poem by the novelist, and poet William Carlos Williams. Readers might never believe elderly s saying about how poetry can be about anything and everything until reading this poem. After all, who writes a poem to confess their guilt and ask for forgiveness? According to Andrew Spacey, who is an author and analyst, William Carlos Williams wrote a quick note to his wife one morning, a passing gesture, and stuck it on the [refrigerator] before heading off to work (Spacey). Fascinatingly, Williams s eloquence and genuine feelings turned such a quick note into a marvelous short poem. Williams, for sure, likes simplicity and does not like polished things. It is very interesting that all of his poems can explain each other. For example, Williams explained in Tract that he doesn t like decorations that are not necessary (while teaching his city people) the flowers or / the lack of them or what? (Williams). When applying those lines to This Is Just To Say, they will read something like This is just to say/ punctuations or / the lack of them so what? In Tract, Williams shows that unless something is a necessity, people should not have it I will teach you / my townspeople ... over a troop / of [an] artist unless one should ... scour the world /you have the ground sense / necessary (Tract). In This Is Just To Say, however, he applies his method by not including any punctuation. Some people might argue against this claim, but I believe that Williams loved simplicity. Words like icebox, breakfast, and Forgive, in my opinion, show that he loves being straightforward. Perhaps, that s why he did not use any begging words to ask for forgiveness. He wants to tell his readers that he is a human being, temptations can overwhelm him, but he still deserves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both Martin Luther King and Barrack Obama have a Superb comprehension of the extreme and diverse difficulties faced in African American Communities. For instance King stated, One hundred year later, the negro is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. Growth opportunities are considered by previous studies to affect derivatives use (Smith and Stulz, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Smith and Stulz (1985), firms that face higher expected costs of financial distress have larger incentives to use derivatives because derivatives can reduce the present value of bankruptcy and the probability of financial distress. Firms can use derivatives to reduce the variance of a firm s cash flow or earnings which enable firm to have sufficient cash flow to fulfill its fixed payment obligations and reduce the probability of financial distress (Aretz and Bartram, 2010; Supanvanij and Strauss, 2010). Similarly to previous studies, I have used leverage as a proxy for financial distress (e.g., Tufano, 1996; Rogers, 2002; Aretz and Bartram, 2010). Leverage is measured with the ratio of total debt to book value of assets (e.g., Coles et al; 2006). I include diversification as a control variable for firm focus. Earlier empirical studies (e.g., Tufano, 1996; Géczy et al., 2007) suggest a negative relationship between the degree of diversification and derivatives use. Firms can choose to reduce firm risk through changing the level of diversification (Coles et al., 2006; Bartram et al., 2011). For all the banks in the sample, I collect information on the degree of diversification which is measured by the number of geographical segments of the firm at the end of each year (Géczy et al., 1997; Fung et al., 2012). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This paper also outlines the direction of future research to address the shortcomings of research to date and to provide marketers of wine with more rounded and meaningful insights into the wine consumption behaviour in Ireland. BACKGROUND TO THE IRISH WINE MARKET The Irish wine market has experienced tremendous growth over the past 15 to 20 years, with an almost five fold increase in the consumption of wine from 1.7 million cases in 1990 to 8.2 million cases in 2007 (WDB, 2008). DIGI (2010) reported a 6.9% decline in wine consumption (by volume in 2009), however this decline took place in a year when the overall alcohol market contracted by about 10% due to poor national economic performance (DIGI, 2010, p. 6). Despite the recent drop in consumption over the past year, the 450% growth in the Irish wine market since 1990, and the shifts in demand and preference result in the Irish wine market becoming an important target market for wine brands. Preferences of Irish wine consumers have changed with a notable shift towards New World wines, from a 6% market share in 1990 to a 68% share in 2007 (WDB, 2008). Previously, wine was a highly inaccessible product in the market, with high prices, limited selections, and complex labelling (Farren, 2003). Children and Traumatic Grief Nader and Salloum (2011) made clear that, at different ages, children differ in their understanding of the universality, inevitability, unpredictability, irreversibility, and causality of death. They believed, despite the increasing understanding with age of the physical aspects of death, a child may simultaneously hold more than one idea about the characteristics of death. However, factors that complete the determining nature of childhood grieving across different age groups may be a difficult task for a number of reasons including their environment in means of the support they have available, the child s nature in terms of their personality, genetics, and gender, coping skills and previous experiences, the developmental age, grieving style, whether or not therapy was received, and the relationship to the deceased (Nader Salloum, 2011). The revolution overthrew the Pahlavi Dynasty, which had ruled Iran from 1926 to 1979, under Muhammad Reza Shah. Similar to his father who had ruled before him, Muhammad Reza Shah eliminated dissent through repression; banning the independent political parties and repressing minority groups. By the 1960s, these policies began to spark resistance in the form of armed groups fighting with guerilla warfare, similar to the methods used Algeria and Palestine resistance ... • 33. The Measure Of Concealed Weapons Onto College Campuses The ability to carry concealed weapons onto college campuses has always been an area of contention. In 1990, Congress passed the Clery Act which created gun free zones in primary and secondary schools. Around that same time many states passed laws prohibiting weapons on college campuses as well. (Lyons, 2017) In recent years there has been a stronger focus on college related shootings and deaths which has re ignited the conversation regards concealed weapons on college campuses. The most prominent political value that is in conflict with itself is freedom. The 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution grants citizens the right to bear arms. For opponents of concealed carry on campuses, they argue that by having guns on college campuses, they are less free. Freedom is so ambiguous because it is completely subjective to every individual. What makes one individual feel free might make another individual terrified. Another political value that is in conflict with itself is security. People who are for concealed carry at universities claim that it would be for their security. Since 2002, 64 people have been killed in mass shootings on college campuses. (Lyons, 2016) One individual is quoted as saying that The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun. (Lyons, 2017) This quote conveys the feelings of many concealed carry supporters who say that they do not feel safe being restricted as to where they can and cannot carry their personal weapon. Opponents of this idea claim that allowing guns on college campuses would conflict with their own personal safety. Many say that the more weapons we have on college campuses, the more likely an attack or accident is to happen. An idea that has been tossed around would be to allow only faculty and staff to carry concealed weapons. However, opponents still have some hesitations. • 34. Increased Rates of Teen Pregnancy among Minorities Increased rates of teen pregnancy among minorities The incidence of teen births in the United States has reached a historic all time low throughout the last couple of years but teen girls are still giving birth to 1700 babies a week. However, minorities are still amongst the highest group of teenagers having children among the age group between 15 and 19 years of age. The highest ethnic groups were comprised of Hispanics and Non Hispanic blacks making up 57% of all US teen births in 2011, according to a study done by the CDC in 2011. American Indians and Alaskan Natives had the third highest birth rates at about 36 births per 1000 females. The smallest occurrence of teen births per 1000 came from the Asian/Pacific Islander population. However, the continuously low population group with teen pregnancies involved White individuals so the question remains, why are most minority groups more likely to give birth within their teenage years? Research shows that about 80 percent of all the teenagers between the age group of 15 17 had no formal sexual education before their first sexual experience. Regardless of their ethnicity, all students can be affected by the lack of sexual education at their respected school. Interestingly enough, President Obama has recently cut the budget for abstinence only sex education. However, this was done because current research indicates that abstinence only programs do not prevent or delay teen sex. Many teens say that their schools tend to use ... As that is a great movie, it s not nearly the full story of William Wallace. Therefore, a hunt for the truth of the real the story was underway. William Wallace was born in 1270 s in Scotland, but not much is known about his childhood but that he lived with his father, Sir Malcom Wallace, on a small piece of land in Scotland. (BBC) and (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica) This is dock number one on the movie. Although some may say, Shame on you Hollywood, for making up the childhood of this remarkable history hero , At the time of Wallace s childhood, Scotland was starting its decline into succession when it was taken over by England. Therefore, the stories could, in fact, be true, although no evidence proves it. As Wallace grew up he learned how to fight battles logically, which overtime made him grow very respected with the men he met. He was taught to think before he would speak. He was a natural born leader and would hold his position firmly. This led to battles won where he had very few men, but a very passionate and trusting crew because Wallace was their leader. In 1296, the king of England, Edward I, took advantage of the succession in Scotland and declared himself as ruler of Scotland with English administration. Only a few revolts had taken place when sheriffs were subject to different areas of Scotland, and even fewer were successful. So far it seems as though ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Sociological Analysis On Interfaith Marriage Essay Sociological Analysis on Interfaith Marriage The family issue I will be analyzing is interfaith marriage. Interfaith marriage is simply marriage between two people who belong to or identify with different religious groups. However simple the definition may seem, the reality of interfaith marriage can be far more complex. For most of human history it has been a social taboo to marry outside of one s faith. However, in recent years it has become much more acceptable, even to the point of seeming to essentially be a non factor as far as society is concerned. Nevertheless, with the inevitable differences in customs and beliefs, and despite social acceptance, interfaith marriages can still cause major conflict in the household. This paper will explore seven different sociological theories, and attempt to explain how they can decipher the effects of interfaith marriage upon the family. Family Ecology Theory Family ecology theory looks at how families are influenced by, and subsequently influence their environment. In their text, The Marriage and Family Experience: Intimate Relationships in a Changing Society, Bryan Strong and Theodore Cohen (2014) list four levels to the environment to which individuals adapt: the microsystem, which contains the most immediate influences with which individuals have frequent contact, e.g. families, peers, schools, etc.; the mesosystem, which consists of the interconnections between microsystems, i.e. school, work, and home experiences; the ... Covey When I went through professor s required book list, I recognized the book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, at my first glance. I do remember that I read its Chinese version which was a present from my grandfather almost ten years ago when I was a teenager. Shortly after feeling excited, I was a little embarrassed because I barely remember the 7 habits. Now as an adult almost a decade later, after finished the book, the original work, I was impressed. The immaturity made me believe that most of the points of Covey were too obvious and trite to make sense. But now those things Covey talked about are actually tough challenges in my life. The precondition of the Covey s theory is that a lot of people fix the problems in a scattershot approach which will eventually lead to chaos or disappointment for the most time. The author s answer to this is to be an effective person. People needs to learn to solve problems from personal life, study and work with an approach based on a same core values. The book is about how to develop the core values basically through the seven habits in order to be a more effective person. The seven habits also help to achieve greater insights into leadership and management in people s personal and professional life in the effective way. The seven habits are: 1. Be proactive 2. According to this theory, there are different powers that a state plans to achieve for example the military power, the economic power or the diplomatic power. Using Porter s Generic Strategies Using Porter s generic strategies, identify examples of organisations following strategies of differentiation, low cost or low price, and stuck in the middle or hybrid. How successful are these strategies? An organisation bases its strategy according to its environment, and if implemented right will be successful. Firms can target their products by a broad target, thereby covering most of the marketplace, or they can focus on a narrow target in the market (Lynch, 2003). Michael Porter created a generic strategies framework in order for an organisation to gain a competitive advantage in their industry. Porter considers three generic strategies in his framework that an organisation can undertake to gain this advantage. He believes that an organisation falls into either cost leadership (lower cost) or differentiation and once applied in a broad or narrow scope, as discussed by Lynch, creates focus (Figure 1). Furthermore, some organisations undertake in more that one of these strategies and if unsuccessful is called the stuck in the middle strategy. However, if the organisation combines elements of differentiation and elements of low cost successfully, this becomes and hybrid option and is becoming increasingly popular amongst firms in the modern day.
