Ambition In Beowulf
For centuries, culture has molded our minds into believing what is and what isn t considered an epic. In
present day, there are six concrete characteristics that every epic possesses. The poem, Beowulf, is the
perfect example of an epic. It contains all of the characteristics that an epic requires, and embodies
them exquisitely.
Beowulf was an exceptional leader, every epic has a leader who exhibits skillful authority, and the
ambition to protect their people. As the leader of the Geats, Beowulf had to be the strongest, and most
courageous of the men. He displayed his superhuman strength and courage when he battled Grendel.
For example, when Grendel wished to retreat due to Beowulf s grip, the narrator expresses, Had he met
a man whose hands ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator mentions God s will and fate on multiple occasions, both of them steer Beowulf s path,
and assemble his outcome. The narrator points out fate s power in this quote, that final day was the first
time when Beowulf fought and fate denied him glory in battle. (723 725) Beowulf also confronts
supernatural beings such as, Grendel, Grendel s mother, and a dragon. By having these supernatural
forces and creatures, the poem creates a sense of enchanting heroism. Fate and God s will is the
foundation of the epic,

The Tiananmen Square Protests
The Tiananmen Square Protests of 1989, more popularly known as the Tiananmen Square Incident or
Tiananmen Square Massacre, were a series of student led demonstrations in Beijing during 1989. The
student led protests were forcibly suppressed by tanks and armed troops 2 weeks after the government
declared martial law and mobilized as many as 300,000 troops into Beijing. The death toll is still
widely debated. The protests happened during rapid economic and social developments in China. The
students called for political and economic reform, as well as more individual rights and freedoms due to
the political corruption that was the result of inflation. At the height of the protests, about a million
people assembled in the Square. By May, a student led hunger strike gathered support for the ... Show

Considered a watershed event, the event created limits to political expression in China. To this day, it
still remains one of the most sensitive and most widely censored political topics in mainland China.
While the hard liners of the Communist Party of China insisted on forcibly suppressing the protests
because they feared the anarchy that could follow, their actions garnered both national hate and
international scorn. The CCP was internationally condemned for using force against protesters, and
many Western countries even imposed commercial and financial bans, as well as arms embargoes. The
Tiananmen Square Massacre broke at least 5 articles of the UN Declaration of Human Rights. The
UDHR was instilled on December 10th, 1948, 41 years before the Tiananmen Square Incident. While
the Communist Party of China believed that the use of military force was beneficial for society, the
rights of the Chinese protesters had been violated due to the killing and inhumane treatment, the
significance and controversy of the Tank Man protest, and the suppression of opinion, freedom, and

George Washington s Influence On The Power Of Government
Our nation began in 1776 with the first elected president as George Washington. Since then we have
had forty two other leaders take on the role of being the president of the United States of America.
Every four years we elect a new president and each president that is elected can run again and serve up
to two terms as a total of eight years. The President of the United States is considered one of the world
s most powerful people, leading the world s only contemporary superpower. The role includes being the
commander in chief of the world s most expensive military and leading the nation with the largest
economy. The office of the president holds significant hard and soft power both in the United States
and abroad. The power includes execution of federal law, alongside ... Show more content on

Many people help the president manage the business of the executive branch. His most important
advisers are the members of the Cabinet. Over the years, the size of the Cabinet has changed. George
Washington s first Cabinet had just four secretaries. There was one each for the departments of Foreign
Affairs now known as the Department of State, the Treasury, and an Attorney General. The modern
Cabinet has fifteen heads of departments, as well as a number of other important officials. Secretaries
of Agriculture, Labor, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation,
Energy, Education, and Homeland Security are among some of the other Cabinet members. The
President also has legislative powers which include, The president can veto any bill passed by Congress
and, unless two thirds in each house vote to override the veto, the bill does not become law. Much of

Wedding Speech Written for Two Best Men
Brandon Ladies and Gents before I continue I would like to point out to those of you who may be
feeling the effects of the alcohol that there are actually 2 of us standing up here and no you are not
seeing double.
Firstly, I would like to say how pleasing it is to see so many of John and Rhonda s close relatives and
friends who have joined them on their wedding day. It never fails to amaze me the distance some
people will travel for some free food.
OK, Ladies and Gents it is an absolute privilege for Kain and me to be standing here as John s best
men. Since John asked us to perform this honor we have been seeking advice on the duties we have to
perform. One of the main duties is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kain I must say when Brandon and I met up to prepare our speech I was a little disturbed to hear him
say that he was going to sleep with one of the bridesmaids tonight.................that was until I realised his
wife Suzi was one.........................it was Suzi you were talking about wasn t it Brandon????
Brandon Well, as you know I m not that fussy!
Kain Now if we were to follow tradition, we would delve into the lesser known stories of John s life
and bring up things about his ex girlfriends. I don t think that s fair however as they re not here to
defend themselves.......foot mouth took it s toll unfortunately.
Brandon John,.......... Rhonda s a lovely person. She deserves a good husband. Thank God you married
her before she found one!
Seriously though John, you are a lucky groom; you ve got Rhonda. She s beautiful, smart, funny, warm,
loving and caring.
And Rhonda, you ve got..............John.
Brandon We ve known John for some 25+ years and I spent my entire schooling with John so as you
can imagine when preparing our speech we had a mountain of material to choose from. However the
main problem we were faced with was what to leave in.
Thankfully, however I managed to come across a couple of John s old school report cards and I would
like to share with you a few of his old teacher s remarks:

The Role Of Technology In The 1980 s
Could you live without the technology we have today? Without the 1980 s, you would not have any of
your cell phones or computers. You also would not have most of the medical things we use in the
medical field today. The 1980 s played a huge role in the creation of recreational, medical, and other
technologies we use today.
In the 1980 s there were plenty of recreational inventions. One invention was the Walkman, which is
similar to an Ipod because you can listen to music with headphones in ( Technology Invented In The
1980s. ). The boombox was used in the 1980 s, but it was too big and it played the music too loud. The
Walkman let people listen to music whenever and wherever they wanted without being embarrassed.
Another invention was the cell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only did they help the people living in the 1980 s, they also play a huge part in the medical field
today. Some of these inventions are the implantable cardioverter defibrillator, personal glucose meter,
digital hearing aid, safety needles and syringes, and angioplasty balloon catheter. The implantable
cardioverter defibrillator is implanted into patients who could suffer from a cardiac death. It sends out
an electric shock once it detects the heart problem ( 30 Years/30 Devices : 1979 : The 1980s : The
1990s : The 2000s : Older Technologies. ). The personal glucose meter was a very significant step for
diabetics. This new technology allowed diabetics to have testings done at their homes instead of the
hospital ( 30 Years/30 Devices : 1979 : The 1980s : The 1990s : The 2000s : Older Technologies. ). The
digital hearing aid was a very big step for people with hearing disabilities. It provided a more
comfortable way to help and improve the hearing of people ( 30 Years/30 Devices : 1979 : The 1980s :
The 1990s : The 2000s : Older Technologies. ). Also in this time, a safety mechanism was invented to
be put in needles and syringes. It was put in to prevent the spread of bloodborne diseases such as AIDs
( 30 Years/30 Devices : 1979 : The 1980s : The 1990s : The 2000s : Older Technologies. ). Angioplasty

English Colonists Treatment Of Native Americans
When it comes to wealth and power, people want it all for themselves. They will do anything in order
to claim it and call it theirs. Some people are stronger than others, which makes their journeys easier to
win over others. English colonists arrived to the New World after seeing Spanish colonization gaining
wealth and being able to send gold and sliver back home. While English colonists were trying to gain
wealth, they had to use Native Americans. Native Americans on Jamestown had everything that English
colonists wanted, therefore they relayed on them and took advantage of the natives. The treatment of
Native Americans by English colonists in Jamestown was unavoidable because English colonists
arrived to the New World with a single goal, gaining wealth. English colonists and indigenous people

Native Americans were somehow powerful and had everything that English colonists wanted. They
were seeking wealth and they had the answers in Jamestown. When tobacco start growing, the English
colony became powerful and expanded their colony over Jamestown peninsula. Powhatan Indians were
disappointed when English did not maintain a trading way with them. In 1622 Native Americans took a
step forward by attacking the colony. They killed 347 colonists. As it is stated on the second chapter of
the book, The American Yawp, The colonist retaliated and revisited the massacres upon Indian
settlements many times over. The Massacre freed the colonist to drive the Indians off their land. Once
the English colony gained power, they forgot about the people who kept them alive, they forgot about

Jean Raljean Connotations
Thank you for your comments throughout the course and for your question here. I will endeavor to
answer it in such a way as to let you know more fully what my comments mean. In my efforts to be
concise, I admit I was unable to explain fully and frankly, I just wasn t sure how it would be received. It
is obvious from several comments in the class that there are more misconceptions than can be tackled
in just one week. To the point, certainly there are several connotation of anti Mormon literature. and
often one could create it by not accurately depicting the facts, which leads someone to draw an
incorrect conclustion. Perhaps, the latter is the most accurate denotative explanation. For instance,
without explaining the difference between sealing and marrying, those concepts were conflated, making
a later statements confusing and led the class that which was not true. I think a good definition might
be, any literature, which includes either patently deceptive information about the Mormon Church, or
the presentation of selected facts, often without context, which would either lead the reader to a false
conclusion, or the presentation of lies and calumny in order to discredit truth. When we learned that
Jean Valjean was in prison, not just because he was a thief, but that he was starving and all he stole was
a piece of bread, it makes the truth whole. It would have been a very different story had those
sympathetic pieces of information been deliberately excised. When you

Description Of Social Class On Someone s Life Dramatically
Description of Social Class Social status or placement can impact someone s life dramatically. Social
class determines where people will live, how well educated they may be, their occupation, their
physical health, their mental health, the forms of recreation they enjoy, their social networks, their
political views, their attitudes toward childrearing, and how long they may live. (Vissing, 2011) It also
plays a big role in how people view themselves, as well as how others view them. Social class can also
play a role in the potential of how successful someone can be. Class is a large group of people who
share common economic resources that influence the kind of lifestyle they are able to live. (Giddens,
Duneier, Appelbaum, Carr 195) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It provided data on how often gender, race, and social class inequalities were discussed in the
classroom and textbooks. While gender stratification was discussed the most, it was clear that all types
of social stratification still exist today. 59 percent of the gender and socialization citations directed the
readers to the inequality sections of the textbook, particularly the gender chapter. This suggests that
socialization plays more of an explanatory role in gender inequality in introductory textbooks than it
does for race or class. (Puentes, Gougherty 163) If this information was not available in textbooks or
discussed in classrooms, then you could go as far to say that social stratification did not exist. Another
article I researched talked about how most authors focused on gender rather than social class. There is a
significant lack of information pertaining to social class and a greater emphasis on gender. However,
differences in socialization by class were not used to explain class inequality or the reproduction of the
class structure; instead, the focus tended to be on the uneven distribution of economic resources and
opportunities. When class socialization was discussed, it was likely to be several paragraphs instead of
the several pages that were devoted to gender socialization in the gender chapters. (Puentes, Gougherty

Internal Sources Of Finance Are Inside The Business
Internal sources of finance are inside the business and are made from the company itself by the services
they provide, such as selling stock or keeping back a profit. External sources of finance are from
outside of the business from elsewhere, such as an owner who invests money into the business, loans
from a bank or people you know, debentures which are loans made to the company, a mortgage, hire
purchase, leasing or grants. However these are long term external sources, some short term ones could
include an overdraft facility, trade credits or factoring.

Also in small business organisations profits and losses are passed through their shareholders and then
they can create negative retained earnings as well. All of these problems could eventually lead a
business into bankruptcy. Another drawback is the fact that the money could have been invested
elsewhere therefore earning a higher profit.
Savings
The money a company had before or have made from the business and has been kept as a resource.
This is related to Boohoo.com because they would keep savings in the case of an emergency arising
meaning that if something unexpected occurred they wouldn t be worrying on how to solve it, they
could just take money out of their savings to resolve the dilemma.
Advantages This is a beneficial idea for a business because there will be interest rates added to your
savings and because there are competitive interest rates between banks there could be an offer for a
savings with bonus interest, which will ultimately increase the amount of money Boohoo.com will have
as a resource within the organisation.
Disadvantages However the disadvantages of having savings is that the money is often tied up for a
long period of time meaning that it can t be accessed without large consequences and if your account
doesn t have a fixed rate the interest can reduce over time and it could

Taking a Look at John Milton
Often being ranked side by side with William Shakespeare and John Keats, John
Milton is considered one of the most renowned English poets in the world of literature, as journalist
and politician Joseph Devlin states, ... [T]he three greatest works are those of Homer, Dante and
Shakespeare. These are closely followed by the works of Virgil and Milton. Many make the
misconception that Milton is part of the Romanticism movement along with Mary Shelly and William
Blake but Milton s career took place during the Late Renaissance and the Restoration Age. Paradise
Lost and On His Blindness are two of Milton s finest works; Milton incorporated the sacred telling s of
the Bible into these two poems by analyzing and elaborating on the teachings of Christianity to a depth
that had not previously been reached. The reoccurring theme found in his work are disobedience,
eternal providence and justification. Milton was not only a poet but also a scholarly man of letters and a
civil servant for the Commonwealth of England, creating a variety of literature from prose to political
pamphlets.
Having written in English, Latin and Italian, Milton earned international success as he wrote about deep
personal conflictions as well as various works regarding the religious flux and political upheaval taking
place during the late 17th century. Many of Milton s work written in foreign languages, tend to show a
more personal side of him than works written in English. Observes English critic Harold

quote is true because you do need experience to do or know something. Although reading can give you

experience but knowledge is just as important. I believe that this quote can be applied to Gifted Hands:

The Ottoman Of The Byzantine Empire
The Byzantine army was a very large and successful army that brought the Byzantine Empire into the
middle ages. The army flourished because of their new developments in warfare, and their organized
battle tactics. The fall of the Byzantine Empire was due to the Ottoman Turks, who had been pushing
borders constantly. The Byzantine Empire never had complete military peace throughout their entire
1000 years. This lead to several influential developments in their civilization. Through this paper, I will
discuss various types of troops and formations that the Byzantine Army used for many years as well as
the overall organization.
After the fall of Rome, and due to Diocletian s efforts, the land was split up into two parts, East, and
West. The western part was claimed by the Goth s and other enemies. A city in the eastern part of the
territory called Byzantium was reclaimed by the people inhabiting the area, mainly Greeks. The
civilization of Byzantium was formed as a result. Constantine the Great, an Emperor of the Roman
Empire made a city in Eastern Rome called Constantinople (now known as Istanbul), and this city later
became the capital of the Byzantine Empire, as well as the capital of ancient Christianity. In the early
days of the Empire, the Byzantine army was still fighting in the old, Roman ways. Their strategies were
not working well, as they had too much land to govern from one location. Their military was small,
because they did not have enough money from tax, a

Supernatural Elements In Dracula
With the creation of Stoker s vampire, his book enters into Gothic literature. Dracula however was not
the first of the Gothic genre, but was a standout feature in it. Gothic literature focuses on mystery and
horror and a lot of time supernatural elements. Nevertheless, Gothic literature was big in Stoker s life
according to Nicole Lobdell s article, Stoker the Victorian Gothic Stage , Stoker loved Gothic plays,
sensation melodramas, and vampire melodramas. Lobdell states He interprets the causes and effects of
melodramatic performances and translates those elements into his fiction (Lobdell 273). In Dracula, a
key component of its story is its supernatural elements which are a key element of Gothic literature
giving forth the whole story being about vampires. Horror aspects of Dracula can be seen in moments
where vampires lose their humanity. In addition to horror and mystery aspects, Gothic literature is also
about the setting. The settings in Dracula give a sense of suspense and mystery making them Gothic
settings. Settings in Dracula are shown in Galens novel, Dracula : Novels for Students when he states,
the various settings including Dracula s imposing castle, the ghostly landscape of Transylvania, and the
graveyard and Lucy s tomb in London are all settings that are found in Gothic fiction (Galens 32).
Aside from Bram Stoker s Dracula being a Gothic novel it is also classified into different subjects of
literature.

This essay will aim to explore whether mental illness has an inherent link to violent behaviour.
Specifically it will critically evaluate the literature surrounding this contention. A definition of both
mental illness and Violence will be offered before outlining the conflicting understanding regarding the
inherent link. The essay will conclude that the issue of an inherent link between mental illness and
violence is a complex one. That when controlling for substance use and other factors such as gender,

In addition the variety of influencing factors, such as childhood experience and victimisation also adds
to the debate as they are identified risk factors for violence alone.
However these findings could be viewed differently when observing the findings by Appelbaum et al
(2000) who found that if symptoms of substance abuse are excluded, no significant difference exists in
the prevalence of violence between discharged psychiatric patients and community controls.
Interestingly, Steadman et al (2000) report no significant relation between psychosis (with TCO
symptoms) and violence which again, leaves the link between mental illness and violence unclear.
Similar to Appelbaum et al, Swanson et al (1990) reported substance abuse as a more significant
variable for risk of violence than any major mental disorders and Fulwiler et al (1997) also found that
substance abuse either alone or in combination with mental disorder significantly increased the chances
of violent behaviour. The MacArthur study also found no increased in rate of violence in mentally ill
patients compared to the general population if they were not using illicit drugs or alcohol. And again,
Wallace et al (2004) looked at the conviction rate of patients with schizophrenia for over 25 years and
compared it with a community sample, concluding that substance abuse in schizophrenic patients

Argumentative Essay On Interracial Marriage
Interracial marriage: is the term used to describe marriages that take place between people who are
from different racial or ethnic groups
Some might argue that interracial marriages are corruptions of culture. In the ruling of Loving V
Virginia the judge of the Circuit Court of Caroline County stated his opinion at the court, Almighty
God created the races white, black, yellow, Malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents.
And but for the interference with his arrangements there would be no cause for such marriages. The
fact that he separated the faces shows that he did not intent for the races to mix. However, I believe we
are all created equally therefore have every right to choose who you want to marry, have kids with and
spend the rest of your life with. In our society people believe that the idea of interracial marriages is
calamitous. People can find it strenuous to live with different cultures who have many different
preferences. If we look deeper into this controversy issue, the only reason is a different outlook on life.
And no matter what race people are, because if they truly love each other, they will have one
compromising outlook.
Therefore, interracial marriage should never have been prohibited for these reasons. Firstly, the
constitutional rights of interracial couples were violated. Secondly, love between adults should
regulated by the government or criminalized. Finally, human rights should take precedence over
cultural laws

After a time, the existence of subnormal profits would cause firms to leave the industry. Supply would
fall and prices rise. Hence long run equilibrium is one of normal profits only.
Perfect Competition Long Run
[pic]
Advantages of perfect competition
Because firms produce where MC=MR=Price, allocative efficiency is achieved.
Productive efficiency is also achieved because the firm produces at the lowest point of the AC curve.
Prices are lower because of increased competition.
Because of perfect knowledge firms must keep up to date and innovate or they will be forced to leave
the industry.
In the long run all firms will earn normal profits.
Cartels and other restrictive agreements cannot emerge to exploit consumers.
Perfect competition can be used as a model in economic analysis.
Disadvantages of perfect competition
Firms have little time to benefit from inventions because they quickly enter the public domain.
Since firms make only normal profits they might not have the funds to undertake expensive research
that often yields the most outstanding discoveries.
Firms might not benefit from economies of large scale production.
In order to prevent abuse of the consumer, some industries are best run by the state as natural
monopolies and so perfect competition would be inappropriate.
Perfect competition is a goal that cannot be reached in the real world.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Deacetylases
Apart from the advantages of Chemical Deacetylation it also have disadvantages such as Energy
Consumption, Waste of concentrated alkaline solution which results in increase of environmental
pollution, broad and heterogeneous range of soluble and insoluble products.
An alternative enzymatic method has been discovered to overcome the limitation of preparation of
chitosan by discovering chitin deacetylases . For production of novel, well defined chitosan we have
found the use of chitin deacetylases for the conversion of chitin to chitosan, which is in contrast to the
currently used chemical procedure, offers the possibility of a controlled, non degradable process . This
method is specially used to prepare chitosan oligomers For production of chitosan we use ... Show

However, chitosan solution must be free of aggregates, and hence the solvent for chitosan must be
chosen carefully. The viscometric average molecular weight is usually been calculated from intrinsic
viscosity because of the lower impact of small fractions of aggregates, using the Mark Houwink
relationship. In order to determine K and a parameters, an absolute MW has to be calculated using light
scattering technique and due to high sensitivity to aggregate formation the obtained value is usually
overestimated. These artifacts may be carried out for instance by the use of 0.3M acetic acid/0.2M
sodium acetate (pH = 4.5) solvent which does not form aggregates in this mixture. Under these
conditions, the absolute M values were obtained from steric exclusion chromatography (SEC) equipped
with viscometer and light scattering detector on line allowing to determine the Mark Houwink
parameters without fractionation and also to obtain the relation between the radius of gyration (G) and
the molecular weight(MW). The K (mL/g) and a parameters at 25 °C are 7.9 × 10−2 and 0.796

George s Reduced Work Week And Layoff Decisions Layoffs
Introduction
Companies face tough decisions during times of economic downturn they cut costs to stay profitable,
and when times get very tough, they may decide to make those cuts very deep. These cuts will
eventually affect employees. Astratech Communications International (ACI) faced these tough cost
cutting decisions. CEO George Anderson started cutting costs with reduced work weeks and pay for
employees. Eventually, product demand dropped to the point where George felt layoffs were inevitable.
There were multiple approaches to this decision making process, and all of them could be considered
ethical depending on the ethical framework used. This paper examines the ethical issues surrounding

the market gives a higher value to firms that are upfront with investors and analysts. If a company has
done well consistently and has a bad year, a full disclosure will win more trust from investors and other
stakeholders. One example of such a company is Dropbox. Dropbox was one of the original cloud
storage companies and had substantial market share for both consumers and businesses. For businesses,
it had 24% market share, while its two closest competitors, Box and Microsoft, each took 21% market

Alkyl Bromide Lab Report
Aim The purpose of this lab was to convert a primary alcohol to an alkyl bromide through SN2
reaction.
Introduction
A nucleophilic substitution reaction is when one group is substituted for another group and this reaction
proceeds via nucleophile. The SN2 reaction is one of the nucleophilic substitution reaction where a
nucleophile (electron rich) attacks a substrate that has a partial positive charge which expels the leaving
group out. The nucleophile attacks the carbon bonded to the leaving group from the back, which leads
to an inversion of stereochemistry. This reaction has only one step such that the nucleophilic attack and
the leaving group leaving happens in one concerted step. Some factors which are essential for a SN2
reaction are that the carbon must be a methyl or primary carbon, sometimes the reaction works with
secondary carbons, but tertiary carbons are not reactive. This is due to steric hindrance expressed by
secondary and tertiary carbons. The nucleophile will not be able to attack on ... Show more content on

The reactants were 1 butanol, H2SO4 and HBr. The limiting reagent in this reaction was 1 butanol. The
moles of 1 butanol that was used in this reaction were 5.00g/(74.1 g/mol)= 0.0674 moles. The percent
theoretical yield should be 100% and since 1 mol of 1 butanol should result also result in 1 mol of 1
bromobutane. The theoretical yield of the product should be 0.0674 moles. The experimental mass of
the product 1 bromobutane was 3.390 g and the molar mass of 1 bromobutane is 137.0 g/mol. So, the
moles of the product are 3.390g/(137.0g/mol)= 0.0247 moles. Hence, the yield of this reaction is
0.0247/0.0674x 100= 36.65%. The yield was very low due to errors such as inconsistent heat applied
during refluxing and simple distillation, error while transferring the product from the distillate to a flask

Prejudice In The Celluloid Closet
Ghazal Al Awad
Hollywood s Prejudice A controversial issue these days is over Hollywood s negative depictions of
homosexuality. Such portrayals were so focused on silencing queer people and basically putting their
emotions in the closet. A documentary The Celluloid Closet, which is based on The Celluloid Closet
book by Vito Russo, analyzes the representation of gays and lesbians in Hollywood films from the
1890s to the 1980s. The Celluloid Closet argues that Hollywood s portrayal of gays and lesbians has
often been harsh and homophobic, which led gays and lesbians characters to be defined by their
sexuality, lacking any character development throughout the plot.
According to the documentary, from the 1890s to the 1930s, homosexuality has been portrayed as a
source for ridicule and laughter. That period of time represented the archetype the sissy; however, the
sissy did not pose a threat on the representation of homosexuality because the sissy were between ...

Arkham Knight Research Paper
The Knight Is Darkest Just Before The Dawn
When I reached the conclusion of Batman: Arkham Knight after 12 hours of solid pacing, I literally
stood behind my chair like a five year old cheering for his favorite superhero, biting my nails as I could
no longer wait to see how it would all end. Not only does the finale of Batman: Arkham Knight grant
the legendary Arkham series the ending it deserves, but it also introduces so many new gameplay
mechanics that it manages to outdo the previous installments in the series, thus becoming the very best
comic book game in existence. If I am to be completely honest here, I have to say that Batman: Arkham
Knight is possibly one of the best video games I ever got to play, period.

old fashioned boss fight, villains are easily knocked out by performing a Takedown of sorts (e.g.
Stealth Takedown, Vehicle Takedown and Dual Takedown). This is probably my biggest complaint with
Batman: Arkham Knight, because I for one truly enjoyed the recurrent boss fight in previous Arkham

Strengths In Mark Bowden s Black Hawk Down
Violence, death, profanity. Usually a book containing these subjects, along with many other disturbing
aspects, would not be recommended for teenagers to read. However, looking past all of those details,
Black Hawk Down actually has valuable lessons within it. The author, Mark Bowden, writes about the
Battle Of Mogadishu that occurred from December 1992 to October 1993, and includes useful
information within his novel. He focuses on the truth about war, weaknesses and strengths within it,
and also lessons that can be learned from these subjects. The subject of war is often romanticized.

There are quite a few positive characteristics within the troops as well that make up for the mistakes
they may have made. One main one is that they always have each others backs. The Deltas look after
the Rangers, and act as their role models. It was as if the Rangers saw the D Boys as their big brothers,
and since their big brothers were around, everything would be okay (Bowden 234). This shows the
bond between the troops, and adds emotion to the novel. Another characteristic is that the older soldiers
try to be positive throughout the war, even if situations got tough. Smith was now asking the medic to
tell his parents and family good bye . . . Hold on tight, Schmid told the dying corporal. We re working
on getting you out of here (Bowden 238). There are also some points within the novel that show
soldiers making jokes about their situation, instead of letting it bring them down and get the best of
them. The final trait is that even throughout all of the horrors the two teams went through during the
war, they still did their best and pushed through until it was finally over. There s no doubt that the
perception people have of this episode is that it was a total fiasco. Bowden says. But this was a
successfully completed mission. And in the eyes of the military men involved, it s a mission they re
very proud of (EDIT). So even though these teams saw, heard, and participated in horrifying events, in

Essay on Honor
It is better to die with honor than to live with shame
It has been said, quot;I would rather die standing than live on my knees! quot; (Emiliano Zapata). All
things are possible to a person who stands on the foundation of honor. The definition of honor is a high
regard or respect; personal integrity; reputation; privilege (Webster s Dictionary). The word honor
comes from Latin Honos. Honor shapes lives everyday, and provides the glue that holds a family,
community and country together.
To have a fantastic family is the best honor a person can have. Parents always teach their children to be
good to other and make a well name for themselves but it is in them whether or not they will truly do it.

If they did not have family to lean back on during troublesome times they would not be the family they
are now; strong and reputable. Honor is what keeps our families striving to do better.
The price of honor can be great, and can even cost a person his or her life. A brilliant orator by the
name of Malcolm X helped to break the prejudiced way of life. He came to America with a new
message to all the people. Even in his death he is still a much honored man not only by the African
Americans but also by anyone who has been affected by any type of prejudice. How honor shaped this
Islamic leader s life is clear; he lived what he preached, and fought for his community.
September 11, 2001 was a very tragic day but at the same time a very heart shaping experience. The
men and women who ran into burning building trying to help the helpless had great courage and
personal honor. Every person that had been hurt or killed during this horrific ordeal were rescued and
treated as needed. The fallen rescuers did not even think of their own lives, just the people who needed
the help. The personal honor that drives a man to search for up to 18 hours straight, looking for any
sign of life, honors those lost, and honors his country.
Honor can be from saluting a flag to helping the helpless, but to me the greatest honor is being able to
honor my family wherever life takes me. With honor, a person has a fixed place from which to create a

Alison In The Miller s Tale
Throughout The Miller s Tale the representation of women is solely shown through the character of
Alison. Her character throughout the text is shown in a very negative and anti feminist light. Women
are mainly used and depicted as objects of desire; she is only ever being described physically, for
example when he describes the clothes she wears Whit was hir smok, and broaden al bifore (Chaucer,

rather than a person who makes her own decisions. Alison s character borrows a lot from misogynistic
stereotypes about women, which are seen as liars and cheats. The interesting thing is that although she
is being compared to animals, she is being compared to the animals that are attacked by predators even
though when you usually describe someone as an animal it s usually very powerful and lustful such a

Japanese Schools Vs American School
There are many similarities and differences between the Japanese and American Educational Systems.
School days, school policies, and transportation in Japan differ from schooling and transportation in
America. There are also some similar aspects between Japan and America s schooling styles. Both
Japan and America s Educational Systems are beneficial for students, but there are still policies and

Vince Lombardi s Motivational Speech In The Green Bay Packers
The Green bay packers had the worst record before 1950 and were known as the worst team ever. In
1966 and 1967 they won their first two super bowls and before those great wins and great touchdowns
their was a great speech. The former american football player, coach, and executive in the National
Football League, Vince lombardi was the head coach who took the Green Bay Packers to victory. The
speech was told to his team but later it was a motivational speech for everyone. In Vince T. Lombardi s
motivational speech he evokes the diction of winning, an appeal to the common person s abilities, and
an intense tone to show that there is no room for being number two and being number one is everyone s
goal no matter what they do.
Vince Lombardi uses diction to strengthen and make clear that winning is everyone s goal no matter
what they do. He started his speech by opening with , Winning is not a sometime thing; it s an all the
time thing . He used thing in that first sentence referring to winning, and that diction made winning
more of an object and something people can take. To make clear that winning is everyone s goal he
transitioned to, You don t win once in awhile; you don t do things right once in awhile; you do them
right all of the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing . He used win as his diction to make
sure people understand that he believes winning is everyone s goal. Although the diction of winning is
simple, it strengthens his argument that

companies were in position. The Marines advanced in waves with bayonets fixed across an open wheat
field that was swept with German machine gun and artillery fire, and many Marines were cut down.[9]

during the counter attack was then Gunner Henry Hulbert.[12] The rest of the battalion now arrived and

How Does Chlorine Kills Pathogens
Chlorine kills pathogens such as bacteria and viruses by breaking the chemical bonds in their
molecules. When chlorine is added to water, chloric acids forms: Cl2+H2O = HOCl + H+ + Cl .
Depending on the pH value, chloric acid partly expires to hypochlorite ions: HOCl = OCl + H+.
Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and hypochlorite ions (OCl ) will form free chlorine when bound together,
and they are primary disinfectants throughout the process. However, the chlorine dosage has to be high
enough to reach the breakpoint for a significant amount of chlorine to remain in the water. When
passing the breakpoint, the addition of chlorine to the water will only produce free chlorine remains
which is essential for disinfection.
Also, according to the theoretical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While disinfectant residual is important because (similar to the previous point) the more residual

travels from the plant to the consumers. Finally pH is important in influencing the degree of
disinfection provided by chlorination because pH determine the primary form of chlorine that exists in
the water. Without considering ammonia, at a pH lower than 7.5, most the chlorines are HOCl; which is
80 90x more effective as a disinfectant than its counterpart OCl , which is the form of chlorine that
exists mostly when pH is greater than 7.5. In terms of chloramine, when the pH is smaller than 4.5 it is
mostly trichloramine (NCl3). When the pH is between 4.5 and 8.5 it is mostly monochloramine and
dichloramine (NH2Cl and NHCl2) and when the pH is greater than 8.5, then it is mostly
monochloramine present (NH2Cl). Out of all three chloramines, monochloramine is the most favoured
since it is very effective in secondary disinfection due to its stability, control over biofilms and lack of
offensive odour and taste. Therefore, pH plays a critical role in whether the chlorine exists as HOCl or
monochloramine, which are the most effective and favourable version of chlorine for

perfect match for them and chose a person based on unrealistic ideals. In a time that people commonly
married for obligation rather than love, everyone is marry for love and yet end up lacking love in
marriage. If trust is a foundation for marriage than it can certainly destroy it as we can see in
Middlemarch. Casaubon believes that Dorothea will make a good wife because he sees her as
submissive. Her intellect and interest in him is misunderstood as idolizing. Her stubbornness wears on

Reflection On Adultism
When I first saw what the topic was for this week s writing assignment, I was unaware what adultism
was. I thought adultism was the same as ageism, so it was confusing to me. When I was looking up
what adultism is, I did not know that it was discrimination against younger people. When I was a child
I can imagine a time where I did notice that my thoughts, feelings, rights, experiences were not given
priority, in deference of the adults in the room. I mean when I younger adults would always say to me
is you re only a kid, you would never understand . At family gatherings my aunts and uncles would
never include me in the conservations, they would just talk over me. One example that stood out to me
the most was when my family would celebrate thanksgivings, myself and all the kids were not allowed
to sit in the same room as the adults. So we would have to sit in another room and table our dinner on
thanksgivings. As I got older I began to become mad at the fact that I was not included with the family
dinner with my adult family members. Every year, I and my cousins would try to sit at the adult table
but my aunts and uncles would always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My cousin would ask my mother to babysit her children, but when I would ask her can I babysit them
and she would always say you can babysit but your mother has to be with you, you cannot be alone. so
I feel like in a way that is adultism because my cousin who is an adult and I was not an adult at the time
was looking down upon me and discriminating me because I was not an adult like my mother was. I
feel like I experienced adultism a lot when I was in school. I think my teachers thought they were better
than us when I was in grade school because they were older and they did not have any respect for many
of the children in my classrooms. When my parents would disciple me as a child I was never allowed to
speak for myself or even defend myself, my parents just assumed

Nostalgia Marketing
Nostalgia Marketing
The main purpose of this paper is to examine the existing literature and research that has been
developed regarding the use of nostalgia as a marketing strategy both in its use in advertisement as well
as in products that try to generate a nostalgic response in the customer. The main definitions and causes
of nostalgia will be examined and the applications that nostalgia can have to modern marketers.
The use of nostalgic motives has been increasing since the early nineties from the re introduction of the
mini cooper by BMW and the launch of the New beetle by Volkswagen, to the recent resurgence of
1980´s themes like Transformers and The A team, as well as the use of pop culture icons and old music

(Schindler and Holbrook, 2003)
Holak and Havlena (1998) complement this definition by stating that nostalgia is not a preference for
these objects but that is a feeling or mood produced by the association of these objects with their past, a
relationship that other objects do not have and therefore they have a preference for the objects that
produce the nostalgic responses.
Research has been conducted to understand the motives of this nostalgic response to certain objects and
experiences, a study by Holak and Havlena (1992) tries to identify the most recurrent motives in
nostalgia, through the

Essay On Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a painful, yet should never be minimized. Is it usual that a teenager or women are able
to experience cramps and discomfort during menstrual periods? Yes , however, when the cramps,
increase with horrible pain, the bleeding does not stop after the menstrual period; it is a cause for a
parent or woman to worry. The pain is unbelievable, it makes you sweat and many women who
experience these would eventually get help and they discover that they have endometriosis. My story
will be discussed as well as knowing about endometriosis. Endometriosis is a painful, powerful nasty
disease in which the uterine lining moves outside the womb and grows in parts of the body. I was
diagnosed with Endometriosis in 1996; I was only 12 years of age. Doctors still believe that
endometriosis is rare in preteens, teenagers and young women; I can prove them wrong in many ways.
Therefore, they do not consider a diagnosis of endometriosis when preteens, teenagers and young
women complain of symptoms like abdominal pain, pelvic pain and menstrual periods due to them
being so young. On August 7, 1999, I went to my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are, however, several methods of treatment that may reduce some of the pain and symptoms. My
research on treatments, I found that The main forms of treatment for endometriosis are: Monitoring,
symptomatic management, hormonal treatments, surgical treatments, self help and complimentary
therapy treatment and more. For my treatments, I had to go straight to surgery, then to have surgery
every year for them to make me confortable than with Lupron steroid injections every month, MRI, CT
scans, Tylenol, pain medication and a heating pack with that I was very sick throughout the years.
Knowing now, what I know and women across the world should know now, I recommend all women of
all ages become educated about this silent nasty disease. The more you know about this disease the
better off you

The Tiananmen Square Protests The Tiananmen Square Protests of 1989, more popularly known as the Tiananmen Square Incident or Tiananmen Square Massacre, were a series of student led demonstrations in Beijing during 1989. The student led protests were forcibly suppressed by tanks and armed troops 2 weeks after the government declared martial law and mobilized as many as 300,000 troops into Beijing. It is obvious from several comments in the class that there are more misconceptions than can be tackled in just one week. To the point, certainly there are several connotation of anti Mormon literature. and often one could create it by not accurately depicting the facts, which leads someone to draw an incorrect conclustion. Perhaps, the latter is the most accurate denotative explanation. For instance, without explaining the difference between sealing and marrying, those concepts were conflated, making a later statements confusing and led the class that which was not true. I think a good definition might be, any literature, which includes either patently deceptive information about the Mormon Church, or the presentation of selected facts, often without context, which would either lead the reader to a false conclusion, or the presentation of lies and calumny in order to discredit truth. Social class determines where people will live, how well educated they may be, their occupation, their physical health, their mental health, the forms of recreation they enjoy, their social networks, their political views, their attitudes toward childrearing, and how long they may live. (Vissing, 2011) It also plays a big role in how people view themselves, as well as how others view them. Social class can also play a role in the potential of how successful someone can be. While gender stratification was discussed the most, it was clear that all types of social stratification still exist today. 59 percent of the gender and socialization citations directed the readers to the inequality sections of the textbook, particularly the gender chapter. This suggests that socialization plays more of an explanatory role in gender inequality in introductory textbooks than it does for race or class. [T]he three greatest works are those of Homer, Dante and Shakespeare. These are closely followed by the works of Virgil and Milton. Many make the misconception that Milton is part of the Romanticism movement along with Mary Shelly and William Blake but Milton s career took place during the Late Renaissance and the Restoration Age. • 28. Alkyl Bromide Lab Report Aim The purpose of this lab was to convert a primary alcohol to an alkyl bromide through SN2 reaction. Introduction A nucleophilic substitution reaction is when one group is substituted for another group and this reaction proceeds via nucleophile. The SN2 reaction is one of the nucleophilic substitution reaction where a nucleophile (electron rich) attacks a substrate that has a partial positive charge which expels the leaving group out. The nucleophile attacks the carbon bonded to the leaving group from the back, which leads to an inversion of stereochemistry. This reaction has only one step such that the nucleophilic attack and the leaving group leaving happens in one concerted step. Some factors which are essential for a SN2 reaction are that the carbon must be a methyl or primary carbon, sometimes the reaction works with secondary carbons, but tertiary carbons are not reactive. This is due to steric hindrance expressed by secondary and tertiary carbons. The nucleophile will not be able to attack on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The percent theoretical yield should be 100% and since 1 mol of 1 butanol should result also result in 1 mol of 1 bromobutane. The theoretical yield of the product should be 0.0674 moles. The experimental mass of the product 1 bromobutane was 3.390 g and the molar mass of 1 bromobutane is 137.0 g/mol. So, the moles of the product are 3.390g/(137.0g/mol)= 0.0247 moles. Hence, the yield of this reaction is 0.0247/0.0674x 100= 36.65%. • 29. Prejudice In The Celluloid Closet Ghazal Al Awad Hollywood s Prejudice A controversial issue these days is over Hollywood s negative depictions of homosexuality. Such portrayals were so focused on silencing queer people and basically putting their emotions in the closet. A documentary The Celluloid Closet, which is based on The Celluloid Closet book by Vito Russo, analyzes the representation of gays and lesbians in Hollywood films from the 1890s to the 1980s. The Celluloid Closet argues that Hollywood s portrayal of gays and lesbians has often been harsh and homophobic, which led gays and lesbians characters to be defined by their sexuality, lacking any character development throughout the plot. According to the documentary, from the 1890s to the 1930s, homosexuality has been portrayed as a source for ridicule and laughter. Not only does the finale of Batman: Arkham Knight grant the legendary Arkham series the ending it deserves, but it also introduces so many new gameplay mechanics that it manages to outdo the previous installments in the series, thus becoming the very best comic book game in existence. Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and hypochlorite ions (OCl ) will form free chlorine when bound together, and they are primary disinfectants throughout the process.
