How Do Different Theoretical Perspectives and...
Option A: How do different theoretical perspectives and methodologies create different forms of
knowledge about close relationships? Discuss with reference to the cognitive social and social
psychoanalytic perspectives. Social Psychology is divided into four different theoretical perspectives.
Every perspective is strengthened by a set of ontological and epistemological assumptions, that profile
the kinds of research questions that can be generated and the sorts of methodologies used to address
research questions. Then, methods employed delimit the kinds of social psychological knowledge that

Teacher Reflection Paper
Introduction: I have learned a lot for the short period of time that I have been in school in Guadalajara.
Thanks to the ten teaching practices I have had lots of hours to practice my teaching. I went from
knowing absolutely nothing about teaching, to feeling like I can teach any subject in English at ease. I
understand what to do, and what not to do in a classroom setting. My observers helped me improve
my teaching from adequate to a professional standard.
What is a good teacher?
A good teacher is one that has a passion for teaching. A good teacher is one that is takes pleasure in
seeing their students comprehend their lessons. Being able to connect with your students is an
important part of being a teacher. If you can t connect with your students, you cannot teach them
properly. Another element to being a good teacher is making sure that no student feels left out. A good
teacher will utilize every student to make sure that everyone understands the objective and is learning
properly.
Strengths and Weaknesses: One of my strengths as a teacher is being able to get along well with the
students. In none of my classes did I have a class where I did not vibe well with one of the students. I
always try my best to get every student to participate. When I see a student struggling with the lesson I
utilize other students to explain to them what is going on. My weakness would most likely be my
pacing. On multiple occasions I failed to finish my entire lesson plan, and on some occasions, I
finished my lesson plan too fast. I would like to be able to better pace my lesson plans so that I don t
feel as rushed to finish, or anxious I will finish early.
Teaching Approaches: I find the direct method to be the best method in teaching English. In the Direct
Method, language is taught inductively and the target language is used exclusively. (ITTO, Page 119)
For teaching grammar, I believe teaching inductively cements the grammar structure into the student s
minds. It uses the students own thinking ability to figure out the grammar structure of a sentence. This
allows students to better understand what they are being taught. It also makes it easier for students to
better use the grammar when they are making their

Motif And Motifs In Macbeth
Sight of Darkness: Analyzing Murder Motifs in Macbeth
Throughout Shakespeare s Macbeth, the motif sight represents a terrible event or murder; coinciding
with the event, while also highlighting Macbeth s lack of accountability for the crimes. Through the
use of the motif sight, it is conveyed that Macbeth decides he must turn a blind eye to the murder of
Duncan. While trying to secure the throne he is prophesied to have, Macbeth frequently questions
whether he should interfere with fate s process. After speaking with Duncan, Macbeth steps aside and
states, The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be /which the eye fears, when it is done, to see (1.4.59
60). Macbeth s thoughts to kill Duncan are so evil when he does it that Macbeth doesn t want to look.
In addition, the eye is a directly related to the brain, therefore, by winking, Macbeth tries to avoid
acknowledging the evil he may commit. To conclude, Macbeth cannot stomach the thought of killing
Duncan so he must turn a blind eye to it; he will try to literally not see it, and not acknowledge it
cognitively. Another example of Macbeth turning a blind eye is after the killing of Duncan. Macbeth
discusses with Lady Macbeth the remorse and guilt he feels. He states, I am afraid to think what I have
done. / Look at again I dare not (2.2.66 67). Even after killing Duncan in attempt to claim the throne,
Macbeth refuses to look at Duncan and his dead body. This again highlights Macbeth s refusal to
condone his deeds as he cannot bare to look at what he has done. The final sight motif used by
Macbeth precedes the murder of Banquo. Even after Duncan is dead, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth
cannot stand idle and wait for the crown to be delivered to them; they decree to remove any threats
posed to their succession. For this reason, they hire three murderers to kill Banquo. While talking to
Lady Macbeth about their plans, Macbeth responds, Come, seeling night, / scarf up the tender eye of
pitiful day / and with thy bloody and invisible hand (3.2.52 54). Similarly to the first passage, Macbeth
is saying the actions of killing Banquo are so violent that it cannot be visible by the light of day.
Related to both passages, Macbeth does not want anyone to

Role Of Export Led Growth On Shenzhen
Role of Export led Growth in Shenzhen
The unparalleled growth of economies in China over the past thirty decades have sparked a lot of
interests from economists, with many arguments and explanations attempting to account for the actual
dynamics that influenced such growths. Since the 1970s, the Chinese s economy has a tendency is
constantly increasing. The export led growth gradually exceeded the import, with an annual growth of
17.2 percent in exports and 16.4 percent in import in 2010 (lse.ac.uk). In fact, implement of the policy
of reform and opening, export led growth is one of the main reasons for Chinese economic prosperity.
One of typical examples is Shenzhen, located in southeastern China. Trading export leads Shenzhen s
GDP to rising, which has become the main momentum of economic growth. This success must
contribute to its strategic location and geographic location.
Shenzhen has its own favourable geographic conditions. It is situated in the South of Guangdong
province, belong to Pearl River Delta, where is the center of manufacturing industry and modern
service industry. For a long time, Shenzhen is an important city in the south of China. It is close to
South China Sea and owns the traffic thoroughfares, Strait of Malacca. The north of Shenzhen is Hong
Kong. They are separated only a river. Across the bridge, people can arrive Hong Kong. Shenzhen has

Genetic Testing And The Human Genome Project
The Human Genome Project introduces significant scientific findings to the world, but raises a lot of
controversies. Many of these controversies concern the application of this new scientific finding and
its ethicality. Genetic information from a project, once aimed towards mapping the human genome in
hope for curing diseases, are now being used in businesses. It shouldn t be permissible for employers
to require that all employees, as well as potential employees, be screened for genetic vulnerabilities
and to use the results of such screening when they make hiring, retention, and job assignment
decisions. These genetic vulnerabilities may include diseases, unsuitable personality traits and other
traits the company deems undesirable. Employees shouldn t be judged by their genes, because the
results do not adequately speak for what the employees will do in life, the employee s position in the
society, and the employee s financial standing. Genetic testing should be an option for the employees
to decide on job assignment rather than influence the hiring decisions of employers. Genetic testing
only shows genetic potential, not potential growth. Conducting genetic testings on employees
infringes on their privacy and encourage more social gaps with genetic classes. There are possible
objections to this controversy due to the possible advantages of the genetic tests. It can be argued that
genetic tests can match people with the right occupations and enhance the best given traits

an idea of what job I wanted as a freshman and these classes did not have a meaning behind them or
supplied any aid in the job I now want to do. During my sophomore year I had much more freedom in
what classes I chose, so I again picked Accelerated English with my math class as Algebra II. My
elective could have been better picked, but at the time not many options interested me. I have taken a
photoshop class giving me minimal experience with computers but I did learn how to change pictures
possibly aiding in the designing of a video game in the future. The courses that did not aid in my
future are mainly just the ones I saw to be the most fun at the time and I chose my courses without
thinking about the future. In my junior year I will need to take another English class as writing is
essential for this occupation and also a math class. Accelerated English 11 and PreCalculus are the two
classes that will play a major part in my future job, the english class will help with writing and the
other necessities for the job. Math class will help with the numbers and

Cyber Incident Response Plan For Cyber Attack
1 What are the procedures incase of an attack. We should write a well developed cyber incident
response plan that includes all the protocols to responses. Our plan should generally have these
following components, such as response team, reporting, initial response, investigation, recovery and
follow up, public relations, and law enforcement. The job of the response team is to develop cyber
incident response plan and for investing and responding to cyber attack. They will identify and
classify cyber attack sceneries, and figuring out what tools and technology will be used to detect the

take on discovery and reporting of cyber attack incidents. For example, set up team to monitor
industry practices, checking if all the system are updated and patched. Non stop monitoring the system
activity and computers logs to see any incidents, than recorded it in a track log for later use. Third, if
there was a report of a cyber attack, the response team should start their investigation whether the
attack had occurred. The response team should quickly stop the attacker right away and stop the
spreading further into the companies computers system. After doing that they should document what

Popular Traditions In American Culture
October 31st is known in every American household as Halloween. Each year houses are decorated,
pumpkins are carved, costumes prepared, and kids hit the streets to collect as much candy as they can.
In America, this tradition is recognized as a time for everything frightening and dead. Ghosts, witches,
vampires, zombies, haunted houses, jack o lanterns; all things associated with Halloween. Most people
think of Halloween and picture faces covered in fake blood, throwing toilet paper on trees, chucking
eggs at houses, grave yards, scary movies, and most of all trick or treating. Most people love
Halloween, children and adults, but they never stop to think about how it came to be such a popular

A child brought up in a certain culture learns how to speak and act by observing and being told what s
expected in their society (Mondal, 2013). More recently in modern America, children have the idea
hammered into them that strangers are dangerous. Don t talk to strangers and Don t take candy from
strangers are said as kids run out of the house to play and parents immediately jump to the worst
suspicious when an adult they don t know is talking to their kid, which they have every right to. Yet
one day a year, on October 31st, it seems that kids can break these societal rules their parents have set
for them. Putting aside all other weird factors of Halloween, the fact that children walk from house to
house, knocking on doors of complete strangers, and accepting candy is by far the most bizarre aspect
of this tradition. Despite the fact their parents are with them, it doesn t change how unusual it is that
children are taught its only okay to approach strangers for candy on one specific day of the year. Even
as one who has done this my whole life, looking at it from a different view makes it rather shocking.

Analysis Of Blink By Malcolm Gladwell
Is Blink Good Psychology? Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung, once said, The pendulum of the mind
oscillates between sense and nonsense, not between right and wrong. In his book, Blink, Malcolm
Gladwell sets out to prove that the real difference between good and bad decision making has more to
do with our abilities as humans to focus on select, particular details about a situation as opposed to the
sheer amount of information we process, but are the tactics utilized by Gladwell in his novel good
psychology? It is of my belief that Gladwell s work is psychology due to the amount of outside
studies, research, and applications Gladwell incorporates into his book in addition to the fact that it
attempts to follow the eight critical thinking guidelines as per Psychology and the DSM 5. While
Gladwell does not specifically outline how his theory of thin slicing and snap decision making relates
to the eight guidelines, this information follows these guidelines; this enables us to more accurately

That is, the nuclear family s relationship or lack of relationship to the extended family or the
community may play a huge part in functioning. Ackerman (1958) viewed family work as a special
method of treatment of emotional disorders based on dynamically oriented interviews with the whole
family. This looks at the who, what, where, when, why, and how of family. The goal is to bring to the
surface all the contributors (person or thing) of the issue and map out ways to manage it. In family

clinician can assist the family to develop a family tree to explore different trends or discover unknown

Expanding Disney Parks And Resorts
Expanding Disney Parks and Resorts to
New Orleans
The City of New Orleans is a remarkable city and has enormous potential for expansion.
The Big Easy has always been known for the French Quarter, yet New Orleans is so much more than
just a party city . I suspect there is a demand to show the family friendly side of our city. My proposal
is to offer new development in a vigilant and financially responsible manner, while offering a glimpse
of the extraordinarily exciting and expansive visions that I hope to witness in the future. The market
feasibility and infrastructure demands must both be carefully assessed. The objective of this tourism
plan is to show the possibility of developing a

setbacks along its progress, New Orleans is an international tourist attraction. Visitors come here from
all over the globe to witness our history and culture. My proposed plan will be evaluated based on
current trends, possible investment, and future economic impact. Mixing our culture with a little
Disney magic is just what the City of New Orleans needs.
Theme parks play an important role in generating revenue and tourism demand. They are one of the

all of history: the Holocaust. Although we could not have prevented this tragedy, I believe that we
should all work to stop something like this from ever happening again. In order to prevent, however,
we must first educate ourselves. And I think a great way to educate ourselves on the Holocaust is to

Punishment In The Middle Ages
During the Middle Ages, there were different kinds of punishments that were used as a solution to
crimes that were being committed from theft to adultery. The three main types of punishment used in
the medieval times, were trial by ordeal, trial by jury and trial by combat. Some of these punishments
were unfair because sometimes, the accused wouldn t get punished, but the innocent would. The most
injustice punishment would be trial by ordeal.
A form of punishment during the middle ages was often a trial by ordeal. Trial by ordeal was a method
where the accused was given a rather brutal, and often deadly test to determine if they were found
innocent or guilty. Trial by ordeal, in my opinion was an unjustified way of deciding guilt. For
example, if someone was accused of doing witchcraft, they would be burned at the stake. If the person
miraculously survived, he or she would be found guilty and was to be executed. But, if he or she burnt
to death, the person would then be proven as innocent and subjected to a proper burial. This is where
the illogic of trial by ordeal comes in. Either way, this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before Charlemagne became king, the Frankish court system used a system called trial by ordeal. An
example of trial by ordeal would be if a peasant was accused for a crime, they would have to hold a
red, hot metal rod and walk around. They would then get their hand bandaged and if after three days,
your wounds weren t healed, you were guilty of the crime. Charlemagne didn t like that system. He
thought it unfair to expect a miracle to occur to prove your innocence. So Charlemagne created a new
system called trial by jury. Under this system, a group of learned men would listen to the testimony
and look at the evidence and then pronounce guilt or innocence. I personally think trial by jury was the
fairest of all the punishments, as it wouldn t involve illogical ordeals and combats to determine who

Hideyoshi Contribution
ideyoshi
Hideyoshi was an influential Japanese influential feudal ruler, daimyo, throughout the 16th century.
Hideyoshi was known to be a daimyō, warrior, general, samurai, and politician of the Sengoku period,
and was especially known to have started a new age of in Japanese culture. Hideyoshi was a highlight
of the Japanese feudal era which made choosing an influential person a worthwhile task. I have
personal history with the level of influence his prestige has over history. His name was once
referenced in a conversation between my second generation Japanese American friend. I was
interested in what she told me about the history of her family back in Japan. I will be using this paper
as a conduit to help start my understanding a small portion of Japan history through researching the
famous Hideyoshi and his celebrated achievements
Hideyoshi was believed to born in 1536 in a time of competing daimyo, Japanese samurai lords,
challenging for local and national leadership. Hideyoshi s early life was a natural rags to riches story.
Starting from humble beginnings, Hideyoshi was born into a life of peasantry under the supervision of

The Crucible Character Analysis
In the play The Crucible Abigail is Parris s niece that lives in his home along with his daughter, Betty.
Abigail is one of the girls that fake being witched and accuse many innocent people in Salem,
Massachusetts of being witches. The question is whether or not Abigail is a victim of her society or
just plain evil. It is my understanding, with the examination of her character traits, that Abigail is a
victim of her society. While some of her actions were fueled by passion for John Proctor, I do think
the way she behaved because of her situation resembles that of which the town reacted to the
accusations of the witches . Abigail is a powerful individual that is influenced by her community,
pardoned from her actions by the community, and a morally weak and prideless person.
Why is Abigail a victim of her society? This question can be related to the our community. Most
people that live around here live in a small town. In a small town, there are certain voices that seem
louder or more important than others. They are powerful. These powerful people have their followers
as well. The followers spread what the powerful say and do. Soon the whole town knows what
happened to be true even when it s not. This is how I would describe Salem, Massachusetts. This is
how Abigail, a powerful voice in Salem, spread the rumor of witchcraft. Abigail grew up around this
kind of community so it only makes sense that she would copy this behavior. She is a victim of her
society because her

The Pros And Cons Of The Industrial Revolution
A series of agricultural advancements were made throughout 18th century Britain that improved
cultivation methods and allowed for more efficient crop production that helped pay off much of the
country s debt and create a more stable and affordable diet for everyone. These improvements paved
the way for many other revolutions to occur such as the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial
Revolution made manual labor much easier through the use of machines. The high demand for the
products Britain was producing called for many workers and machines to meet the need. It created
many jobs and allowed anyone willing to work to make a sufficient living
During the Industrial Revolution many new technologies were made that helped to expedite the
production of goods in high demand. Since Britain was producing these goods at a faster rate they
were able to meet the needs and supply surrounding areas with the goods. Britain was able to make a
good profit off of these goods because of how high the demand was for them. Textiles were one of the
products most requested because the people wanted more clothing options. Textiles were previously
made from woolen cloth until they discovered cotton was more efficient. The more popular cotton was
becoming, the more workers needed, as a result landowners turned to slavery. Many new machines
were created which dwindled the responsibility on the slaves. One of these inventions is the pulley, it
lightened the weight when lifting heavy objects. The

Letting Go
Letting go. It is difficult for us in so many ways and on so many levels. Yet life calls upon us to do it,
over and over again. Letting go is part of our growth process. We cannot move on to the new while
continuing to cling to the old. There come times, in the context of love and romance, when we must
learn to let go. For some of us, as described in the song, we must let go of a past romantic relationship.
Maybe the relationship was not meant to be: perhaps it was hurtful to us, or perhaps it was hindering
the personal or spiritual growth of one or both partners. In this case, even when there may still be
feelings of passion, or attraction, or just the comfort of the familiar, we must be strong in letting go of
something that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often adult children who have lost a parent before working through interpersonal issues, or before
having an opportunity to say goodbye, have difficulty letting go of unresolved issues or guilt.
Sometimes we may need to go for some counseling or do a ritual (some act with personal meaning) to
allow us to release these emotions. Many of us have trouble letting go of old ways of viewing people
who have been part of our lives for an extended period of time. They may be changing, and yet we do
not let go of viewing them in the same way, and/or we try to discourage that change. We refuse to let
go of the labeling, categorizing, and pre set expectations we have of those we know, and of ourselves.
This seems particularly true of many parents of teenage or young adult children. Many parents have a
difficult time letting go of them as children, and allowing them to grow up. It is hard for parents to
make that transition from treating their children as kids, to treating them as adults and more like
friends. Many of these same parents have trouble letting go of viewing themselves, primarily, in the
role of parent. For instance, some mothers are afraid to let their kids become grownups, because they
are afraid to let go of their own identity as mother. They have become so identified with that one role,
that they no longer are sure who they are, outside of that role. When we refuse to let go of old ways of
identifying and viewing ourselves and others,

What Does Inherit The Wind Symbolize
Three symbols from the play and how they illustrate an idea or a theme. Many people often do not
attempt to understand the meaning of what a symbol represents. In the play Inherit The Wind, a
symbol represents something more abstract or different than what the reader originally had thought.
Many symbols were used throughout this play, like the monkey, which symbolizes evolution and the
bizarreness and extravagance of the trial. Similarly, the golden dancer symbolizes that all that glitters
is not gold and that looks can be deceiving. Furthermore, reverend Brown symbolizes the towns
beliefs and is an example of someone who is overly overzealous. Evidently, Inherit The Wind, consists
many symbols to convey the message across more prominently to the readers/watchers. ... Show more

Due to the trial being on evolution and the talk of humans evolving from the ancestry of monkeys.
While on the stand Howard says, Man was sort of evoluted. From the Old World Monkeys (Lawrence

this. Talking of monkeys is talking about evolution and how we evolved. In addition, a monkey is
brought in as a joke and to show how ludicrous it seemed. Hornbeck mocks and says to the monkey,
Oh. Excuse me. I must be thinking of another Elijah. (An ORGAN GRINDER enters, with a live
monkey on a string. Hornbeck spies the monkey gleefully; he greets the monk with arms outstretched)
Grandpa! (Crosses to the monkey, bends down and shakes the monkey s hand) Welcome to Hillsboro,

Imagery In Anne Bradstreet s The Author To Her Book
One point or another in a person s life, he or she wonders what it would be like if an inanimate object
was alive. Anne Bradstreet does just this in her poem The Author to Her Book. She brilliantly takes
the fears and worries of publishing a book into treating it as if it was her own child and, in many
respects, that is what a book is to its author. There are many elements used to give the reader the sense
what the author sees the book as through metaphors, complete imagery to visualize the scene, and
voice to let the reader know just how difficult it is as an author but not just an author, a female author.
To emphasize, being an author is very tough, being a female author can be even tougher in an era
where wealthy male writers and critics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bradstreet successfully aids readers with this with the voice she gives the Author in this poem.
Revisiting all the metaphors and visuals, it s easy to at least see that this is a motherly like person who
regrets the fact she must boot what she feels is a somewhat messy, child out the door. It s a voice
filled, once again, with worry, regret, a motherly figure hoping her child will find its way in the world.
If one wonders why somebody would have so much worry for the flaws of their creation, it is
important to note two factors. Right out the gate the reader knows this author is poor, so she needs
money. This is revealed when she says, And for thy Mother, she alas is poor, (Line 23). Seventeenth
century is not like today where poor means the government will at least help to an extent, so the
person isn t out of luck. There were efforts in the seventeenth century to help the poor but for the most
part, that person was kind of out of luck. The second thing is just being an author in this time. In every
respect, line 23 right here draws conclusion to the voice of this poem, especially if the reader hasn t
read it already. The other part of the voice that is given out in this piece of work is this tone caring and
fear mixed together. Leading off is the fear factor which the Author has every right to be since

company such as to have eco friendly manufacturing for differentiation or to have expansions
strategies in India and China.
To conclude, I would like to say that CDL has immense opportunities and necessities for global
expansion considering their good financial position and high domestic competition. CDL has been the
market pioneer in number of its businesses in the past and should continue with the trend to stay as a

Is Holden Caulfield Ignorant
Adolescence, this is a time where you figure out who you truly are. This soul searching leads to self
realization. Holden Caulfield from The Catcher In The Rye by J. D. Salinger, has trouble accepting
himself. Throughout his days he would put on a cap just to be someone else. It is his get away place, a
place of isolation. A way for him to seclude from the world and become someone he isn t. This is
relatable to numerous teens. Though Holden could be described using numerous adjectives, Holden s
character can be perfectly described as ignorant, a liar, and a slacker. He is ignorant because he does
not learn from his mistakes. He is a compulsive liar. Finally, he is a slacker because he avoids work.
Holden is just like countless people out there who do not apply themselves. You see, Holden could be
smart. He could be successful. He just doesn t have the motivation or ambition to do so. Being
ignorant means to lack knowledge or awareness; uneducated or unsophisticated. Holden is known to
be this way because he gets himself into the most severe situations. However, once he is out of them,
he will have the same issue later on. This is because Holden is not astute. He repeats those mistakes
because he does not learn from them. This makes him ignorant. An example of a situation is when he
gets in a fist fight with Stradlater. I tried to sock him, with all my might, right smack in the toothbrush,
so it would split his goddam throat open, (Salinger, pg 43). From this we know that

Furthermore, there was a requirement of at least three sources to come from scholarly journals. As we
learned during the course of WRTG 101, a scholarly journal article is an in depth research article
written by authors who are experts with significant knowledge in the subject area. Additionally,
universities or professional associations commonly publish scholarly journal articles ( Identify
Scholarly Journals , n.d.). The primary databases I searched were UMUC Information and Library
Services interface Business Source Complete and ScienceDirect. I also utilized the UMUC Library
OneSearch and added the ABI/INFORM Complete as an additional database resource. In addition to
the UMUC Library I also used the Google Scholar web search engine and sources found on the free
web. When deciding on whether to include sources found on the free web, I evaluated the web site s
author and accuracy ( Evaluate Web Resources , n.d.). I used sources from the free web sparingly and
instead focused on scholarly sources. After fulfilling the requirement of three scholarly sources, I
continued to primarily look for scholarly sources to establish and support my argument. I started my
search with the use of search terms such as Human Resource Management , Employee Turnover ,
High Turnover , and HRM Practices . To find more refined results, I incorporated the Boolean

Animal Testing Is Cruel And A Waste Of Time
Right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs and other animals are locked inside
barren cages in laboratories across the world. They languish in pain, ache, with lonliness, and long to
be free. Instead, all they can do is sit and wait in fear for the next terrifying and painful procedure that
will be performed on them . This statement about animal testing is from PETA.org. I have a strong
belief about this topic so I am arguing the point that animal testing is cruel and a waste of time and
money.
My first point is about the problem with animal testing for cosmetics. Around the world, countries use
all kinds of animals to test cosmetics so they are safe for us to buy and use on our skin daily. But what
we do not think about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many types of alternatives that can be used for medical research such as; cell cultures,
human tissues, computer models and volunteer studies. There are very few countries that actually use
these alternatives which is selfish because they kill innocent animals because their projects are not
designed properly. They could be saving animals lives by using alternatives and it is a much cheaper
option. Alternatives for cosmetic research are toxicity tests, neuroscience and drug development.
These are safer ways to test products to roll out the kinks so they wont burn or irritate skin without
harshly testing them on animals. I think all brands should go cruelty free because it is much easier to
test the products in the labs. It is a more effective and faster way to get the products to customers. It
saves many lives and boosts the sales of brands in every country possible. But for medince I think they
should just limit the amount of animals that are allowed to be used per year and exceeding the limit
shall result in a large fine.
To conclude, I think that animal testing should be banned and I disagree with companies that are still
using animals to test their products. This is a very cruel and inhummaine problem that is happening
and should be

The Current System of Collegiate Athletics and the NCAA
The current system of collegiate athletics and the NCAA Meggyesy, David. Athletes In Big time
College Sport. society 37.3 (2000): 24 28. Print. The NCAA has become a revenue generator as
college athletics have become a multi billion dollar sports entertainment enterprise. The most
prominent contradiction with the NCAA is that amateur rules are applied to the athletes, while the
rules of the market apply to the university s athletic departments. By classifying athletes as amateur
student athletes the college athlete labor market does not fall under federal or state antitrust laws or
state workers compensation laws. The NCAA member schools are allowed to set the wage for the
student athlete and not give benefits to players who suffer injury. Due to the rewards being bestowed
onto the NCAA member schools and not the student athletes who produce the product, this system can
be described as exploitative. The student athlete receives an athletic scholarship with the intention that
student athletes will receive a quality education for four years of athletic service. Though, the low
graduation rates among the main revenue sports show that the university does not live up to end its
end of the deal. Due to the rising tide of student athlete protests, the NCAA instituted Prop. 48, which
changed the four year athletic scholarship to a one year renewable grant. This allowed the athletic
departments and head coaches the ability to control a misbehaving player by terminating their

The Tempest By William Shakespeare And Mama Day By Gloria...
The Tempest by William Shakespeare and Mama Day by Gloria Naylor are two fantastic stories that
both belong to the genre magical realism, which is where magical elements are incorporated into
realistic fiction. Prospero the main character is robbed of Dukedom and marooned on an island with
his infant daughter where he meets natives and fire demons who do his bidding. Mama Day the main
character in Gloria Naylor s novel is a no nonsense woman who uses her magic to help the other
residents of their island. Even though Naylor denies that Mama Day is modern retelling of the
Tempest it is hard not see that there are similarities between the stories. However, there are some
differences. Prospero takes justice into his own hands, just as the characters around Mama Day take
their situations into their own hands. They do not trust Mama Day s ways until they are forced to ask
for her help. Whereas Prospero and Miranda might seem like parallel characters because they both use
magic, Miranda knows its limits and uses it to help others, while Prospero only discovers the limits of
magic after he gives it up.
After breaking his staff and throwing his books into the sea, Prospero is left with little to no power of
his own. It is in his last speech in the play, in the epilogue, that he realizes that his magic is nothing
without outside help. He no longer has the outside power of his books and staffs to make his magic
work so he is weak and vulnerable. Prospero realizes he will never get off

Causes And Risks Of Red Meat
Risks in Red Meats
Red meat is consumed in mass amounts all over the world. However, there are risks involved in
consuming so much red meat. Past research has tied red meat to increased risks of diabetes,
cardiovascular disease, certain cancers, as well as mad cow disease. Red meat intake also has an
increased risk of mortality and detrimental effects on the environment. What is put into the meat when
it is processed adds to these risks. There are some benefits to eating red meat such as getting essential
vitamins and minerals like B 12 and iron. It also gives people protein and helps make red blood cells.
Too much red meat intake negatively affects people s health, causes many problems, and creates
increased risks for diseases and certain cancers.
There are many risks when people eat high levels of red meat. A study suggests that the link between
consumption of red meat and heart disease may stem from gut microbes breaking down carnitine, a
compound found in red meat. These microbes help break down food, in the process forming a variety
of small compounds. One of these compounds is trimethylamine, which can be metabolized to form
trimethylamine N oxide (TMAO). TMAO has been associated with atherosclerosis, a disease in which
fat builds up in the arteries. A team led by Dr. Stanley L. Hazen and Robert A. Koeth asked people to
consume beef and a carnitine supplement, regular meat eaters produced more TMAO than vegans or
vegetarians (Torgan 2013). When participants took antibiotics to suppress gut microbes, they produced
less TMAO after eating carnitine (Torgan 2013). This study suggests that gut microbes are involved in
the production of TMAO from carnitine putting people more at risk for heart disease and cardiac
events like heart attacks, strokes, and death as well as atherosclerosis. These health issues lead to
cardiovascular risk and disease.
Red meat consumption is associated with increased risk of type 2 diabetes. A study found that three
extra servings of red meat every week increases the risk of developing diabetes by 50 percent (qtd. by
Scutti, 2013). With increased intake of red meat there is a higher risk for people to get type 2 diabetes.
Reducing red meat consumption by 0.5 servings per day had a

The Theory Of The Mind Becomes Of Critical Importance
As neuroscience research progresses, the concept of the mind becomes of critical importance. The
mind is usually considered to be a separate, nonmaterial entity compared to the physical neurons
within the brain. However, the field of neuroscience is finding many connections between the physical
nature of the brain and the supposed non physical aspect of the human mind. In a sense, neuroscience
seeks to understand the functioning of the mind in terms of the physical neuronal firings of the brain.
In addition, neuroscience seeks further information concerning the fixity and plasticity of the brain.
The field of neuropsychology was developed in response to these questions. The field of
neuropsychology was born at the beginning of the 20th century, shortly after the end of World War II.
Early neuropsychology was a combination of 20th century neurologist s views and experimental
psychology s new behavioral techniques. The returning veterans from World War II sparked the rapid
growth of the field. Many veterans developed cases of mental illness from their exposure to the
horrors of war. Thus, the field of neuropsychology was born in response to a medical need. The rush
in neuropsychology did not slow after World War II, but rather transitioned into the study of cognition.
Early neuropsychology studies of cognition generally investigated the topics of memory and visual
perception. For example, neurophysiologists David Hubel and Thorsten Wiesel studied the vision of
cats via

Sepoy Mutiny Imperialism
There were many connections between racism, colonialism, and imperialism during the British rule in
India. For example, the Sepoy Mutiny. The Sepoy Mutiny was a connection of all three. The British
controlled India (imperialism) because of all the goods that India held (i.e. spices). Now, Britain was
all about making money. They found ways in which they could make profit and by ruling India, it was
the perfect way to make even more money. But during the British rule in India, many people were not
happy about the way that the Europeans were treating them. They were forming a deep hatred for the
British because the British had decided to come and barge into their country (colonialism) and start
ordering them around and treating them disrespectfully. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Taj Mahal was a sacred building to the Indians. It held so much meaning for them. But the British
used it as a space where parties and events were held. And not only did they disrespect the building
like that, but some of the Taj Mahal s jewels and stones were stolen. This was a building resentment
for the Indians and they eventually fought back when they had enough of that disrespect. Other
examples from European history that support my claims is the American Revolution. Americans had
enough of the British rule in the thirteen colonies. They were tired of getting ripped off their goods,
getting taxed for nothing, and overall tired of Great Britain s greed for money. America was
essentially created to get away from Britain, so that people could get that freedom and independence
that they longed for. But somehow, Britain managed to sneak their way back in
(colonialism/imperialism) and gain control of America. Americans resented British rule and fought
long and hard, just like the Indians, to get away from British rule. America wanted to get away from
the British; they opposed British rule and

  • 5. Teacher Reflection Paper Introduction: I have learned a lot for the short period of time that I have been in school in Guadalajara. Thanks to the ten teaching practices I have had lots of hours to practice my teaching. I went from knowing absolutely nothing about teaching, to feeling like I can teach any subject in English at ease. I understand what to do, and what not to do in a classroom setting. My observers helped me improve my teaching from adequate to a professional standard. What is a good teacher? A good teacher is one that has a passion for teaching. A good teacher is one that is takes pleasure in seeing their students comprehend their lessons. Being able to connect with your students is an important part of being a teacher. If you can t connect with your students, you cannot teach them properly. Another element to being a good teacher is making sure that no student feels left out. A good teacher will utilize every student to make sure that everyone understands the objective and is learning properly. Strengths and Weaknesses: One of my strengths as a teacher is being able to get along well with the students. In none of my classes did I have a class where I did not vibe well with one of the students. I always try my best to get every student to participate. When I see a student struggling with the lesson I utilize other students to explain to them what is going on. My weakness would most likely be my pacing. On multiple occasions I failed to finish my entire lesson plan, and on some occasions, I finished my lesson plan too fast. I would like to be able to better pace my lesson plans so that I don t feel as rushed to finish, or anxious I will finish early. Teaching Approaches: I find the direct method to be the best method in teaching English. In the Direct Method, language is taught inductively and the target language is used exclusively. (ITTO, Page 119) For teaching grammar, I believe teaching inductively cements the grammar structure into the student s minds. It uses the students own thinking ability to figure out the grammar structure of a sentence. This allows students to better understand what they are being taught. It also makes it easier for students to better use the grammar when they are making their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Motif And Motifs In Macbeth Sight of Darkness: Analyzing Murder Motifs in Macbeth Throughout Shakespeare s Macbeth, the motif sight represents a terrible event or murder; coinciding with the event, while also highlighting Macbeth s lack of accountability for the crimes. Through the use of the motif sight, it is conveyed that Macbeth decides he must turn a blind eye to the murder of Duncan. While trying to secure the throne he is prophesied to have, Macbeth frequently questions whether he should interfere with fate s process. After speaking with Duncan, Macbeth steps aside and states, The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be /which the eye fears, when it is done, to see (1.4.59 60). Macbeth s thoughts to kill Duncan are so evil when he does it that Macbeth doesn t want to look. In addition, the eye is a directly related to the brain, therefore, by winking, Macbeth tries to avoid acknowledging the evil he may commit. To conclude, Macbeth cannot stomach the thought of killing Duncan so he must turn a blind eye to it; he will try to literally not see it, and not acknowledge it cognitively. Another example of Macbeth turning a blind eye is after the killing of Duncan. Macbeth discusses with Lady Macbeth the remorse and guilt he feels. He states, I am afraid to think what I have done. / Look at again I dare not (2.2.66 67). Even after killing Duncan in attempt to claim the throne, Macbeth refuses to look at Duncan and his dead body. This again highlights Macbeth s refusal to condone his deeds as he cannot bare to look at what he has done. The final sight motif used by Macbeth precedes the murder of Banquo. Even after Duncan is dead, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth cannot stand idle and wait for the crown to be delivered to them; they decree to remove any threats posed to their succession. For this reason, they hire three murderers to kill Banquo. While talking to Lady Macbeth about their plans, Macbeth responds, Come, seeling night, / scarf up the tender eye of pitiful day / and with thy bloody and invisible hand (3.2.52 54). Similarly to the first passage, Macbeth is saying the actions of killing Banquo are so violent that it cannot be visible by the light of day. Related to both passages, Macbeth does not want anyone to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Genetic Testing And The Human Genome Project The Human Genome Project introduces significant scientific findings to the world, but raises a lot of controversies. Many of these controversies concern the application of this new scientific finding and its ethicality. Genetic information from a project, once aimed towards mapping the human genome in hope for curing diseases, are now being used in businesses. It shouldn t be permissible for employers to require that all employees, as well as potential employees, be screened for genetic vulnerabilities and to use the results of such screening when they make hiring, retention, and job assignment decisions. These genetic vulnerabilities may include diseases, unsuitable personality traits and other traits the company deems undesirable. Employees shouldn t be judged by their genes, because the results do not adequately speak for what the employees will do in life, the employee s position in the society, and the employee s financial standing. Genetic testing should be an option for the employees to decide on job assignment rather than influence the hiring decisions of employers. Genetic testing only shows genetic potential, not potential growth. Conducting genetic testings on employees infringes on their privacy and encourage more social gaps with genetic classes. There are possible objections to this controversy due to the possible advantages of the genetic tests. It can be argued that genetic tests can match people with the right occupations and enhance the best given traits ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung, once said, The pendulum of the mind oscillates between sense and nonsense, not between right and wrong. In his book, Blink, Malcolm Gladwell sets out to prove that the real difference between good and bad decision making has more to do with our abilities as humans to focus on select, particular details about a situation as opposed to the sheer amount of information we process, but are the tactics utilized by Gladwell in his novel good psychology? It is of my belief that Gladwell s work is psychology due to the amount of outside studies, research, and applications Gladwell incorporates into his book in addition to the fact that it attempts to follow the eight critical thinking guidelines as per Psychology and the DSM 5. While Gladwell does not specifically outline how his theory of thin slicing and snap decision making relates to the eight guidelines, this information follows these guidelines; this enables us to more accurately judge the content of his novel because he analyzed the information he used. The first of these is define your terms: In the first several chapters of his book, Gladwell explains to readers the terms he uses such as the adaptive unconscious The adaptive unconscious is thought of, instead, as a kind of computer that quickly and quietly processes a lot of the data we need in order to keep functioning as human beings (pg. 11) and priming experiments by giving ... The three main types of punishment used in the medieval times, were trial by ordeal, trial by jury and trial by combat. Some of these punishments were unfair because sometimes, the accused wouldn t get punished, but the innocent would. The most injustice punishment would be trial by ordeal. A form of punishment during the middle ages was often a trial by ordeal. Trial by ordeal was a method where the accused was given a rather brutal, and often deadly test to determine if they were found innocent or guilty. Trial by ordeal, in my opinion was an unjustified way of deciding guilt. For example, if someone was accused of doing witchcraft, they would be burned at the stake. If the person miraculously survived, he or she would be found guilty and was to be executed. But, if he or she burnt to death, the person would then be proven as innocent and subjected to a proper burial. This is where the illogic of trial by ordeal comes in. Either way, this is ... He thought it unfair to expect a miracle to occur to prove your innocence. So Charlemagne created a new system called trial by jury. Under this system, a group of learned men would listen to the testimony and look at the evidence and then pronounce guilt or innocence. Abigail is one of the girls that fake being witched and accuse many innocent people in Salem, Massachusetts of being witches. The question is whether or not Abigail is a victim of her society or just plain evil. It is my understanding, with the examination of her character traits, that Abigail is a victim of her society. While some of her actions were fueled by passion for John Proctor, I do think the way she behaved because of her situation resembles that of which the town reacted to the accusations of the witches . Abigail is a powerful individual that is influenced by her community, pardoned from her actions by the community, and a morally weak and prideless person. Why is Abigail a victim of her society? This question can be related to the our community. Most people that live around here live in a small town. In a small town, there are certain voices that seem louder or more important than others. They are powerful. These powerful people have their followers as well. The followers spread what the powerful say and do. Soon the whole town knows what happened to be true even when it s not. Many of us have trouble letting go of old ways of viewing people who have been part of our lives for an extended period of time. They may be changing, and yet we do not let go of viewing them in the same way, and/or we try to discourage that change. It is hard for parents to make that transition from treating their children as kids, to treating them as adults and more like friends. Many of these same parents have trouble letting go of viewing themselves, primarily, in the role of parent. Anne Bradstreet does just this in her poem The Author to Her Book. She brilliantly takes the fears and worries of publishing a book into treating it as if it was her own child and, in many respects, that is what a book is to its author. There are many elements used to give the reader the sense what the author sees the book as through metaphors, complete imagery to visualize the scene, and voice to let the reader know just how difficult it is as an author but not just an author, a female author. It s a voice filled, once again, with worry, regret, a motherly figure hoping her child will find its way in the world. Holden is just like countless people out there who do not apply themselves. You see, Holden could be smart. He could be successful. He just doesn t have the motivation or ambition to do so. Being ignorant means to lack knowledge or awareness; uneducated or unsophisticated. Holden is known to be this way because he gets himself into the most severe situations. However, once he is out of them, he will have the same issue later on. This is because Holden is not astute. He repeats those mistakes because he does not learn from them. This makes him ignorant. An example of a situation is when he gets in a fist fight with Stradlater. I tried to sock him, with all my might, right smack in the toothbrush, so it would split his goddam throat open, (Salinger, pg 43). From this we know that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Wtg 101 For the third assignment of WRTG 101, the task was to write a research supported cause or effect essay. I chose to write a research supported effect essay on human resource management titled The Effects of Human Resource Management Practices on Employee Turnover. The assignment requirements asked for the use of a certain amount of scholarly journal articles that supported the thesis of the paper. I believe that my research essay turned out successfully because I was able to find and identify appropriate resources that proved to effectively defend my thesis statement. For my research assignment I chose the topic The Effects of Human Resource Management Practices on Employee Turnover. I chose this topic because it is allied with an assignment ... As we learned during the course of WRTG 101, a scholarly journal article is an in depth research article written by authors who are experts with significant knowledge in the subject area. Additionally, universities or professional associations commonly publish scholarly journal articles ( Identify Scholarly Journals , n.d.). The primary databases I searched were UMUC Information and Library Services interface Business Source Complete and ScienceDirect. I also utilized the UMUC Library OneSearch and added the ABI/INFORM Complete as an additional database resource. In addition to the UMUC Library I also used the Google Scholar web search engine and sources found on the free web. When deciding on whether to include sources found on the free web, I evaluated the web site s author and accuracy ( Evaluate Web Resources , n.d.). I used sources from the free web sparingly and instead focused on scholarly sources. After fulfilling the requirement of three scholarly sources, I continued to primarily look for scholarly sources to establish and support my argument. I started my search with the use of search terms such as Human Resource Management , Employee Turnover , High Turnover , and HRM Practices . To find more refined results, I incorporated the Boolean operator AND ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Animal Testing Is Cruel And A Waste Of Time Right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs and other animals are locked inside barren cages in laboratories across the world. They languish in pain, ache, with lonliness, and long to be free. Instead, all they can do is sit and wait in fear for the next terrifying and painful procedure that will be performed on them . This statement about animal testing is from PETA.org. I have a strong belief about this topic so I am arguing the point that animal testing is cruel and a waste of time and money. My first point is about the problem with animal testing for cosmetics. Around the world, countries use all kinds of animals to test cosmetics so they are safe for us to buy and use on our skin daily. But what we do not think about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many types of alternatives that can be used for medical research such as; cell cultures, human tissues, computer models and volunteer studies. There are very few countries that actually use these alternatives which is selfish because they kill innocent animals because their projects are not designed properly. They could be saving animals lives by using alternatives and it is a much cheaper option. Alternatives for cosmetic research are toxicity tests, neuroscience and drug development. These are safer ways to test products to roll out the kinks so they wont burn or irritate skin without harshly testing them on animals. I think all brands should go cruelty free because it is much easier to test the products in the labs. It is a more effective and faster way to get the products to customers. It saves many lives and boosts the sales of brands in every country possible. But for medince I think they should just limit the amount of animals that are allowed to be used per year and exceeding the limit shall result in a large fine. To conclude, I think that animal testing should be banned and I disagree with companies that are still using animals to test their products. This is a very cruel and inhummaine problem that is happening and should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The Current System of Collegiate Athletics and the NCAA The current system of collegiate athletics and the NCAA Meggyesy, David. Athletes In Big time College Sport. society 37.3 (2000): 24 28. Print. The NCAA has become a revenue generator as college athletics have become a multi billion dollar sports entertainment enterprise. The most prominent contradiction with the NCAA is that amateur rules are applied to the athletes, while the rules of the market apply to the university s athletic departments. By classifying athletes as amateur student athletes the college athlete labor market does not fall under federal or state antitrust laws or state workers compensation laws. The NCAA member schools are allowed to set the wage for the student athlete and not give benefits to players who suffer injury. Due to the rewards being bestowed onto the NCAA member schools and not the student athletes who produce the product, this system can be described as exploitative. The student athlete receives an athletic scholarship with the intention that student athletes will receive a quality education for four years of athletic service. Though, the low graduation rates among the main revenue sports show that the university does not live up to end its end of the deal. Due to the rising tide of student athlete protests, the NCAA instituted Prop. 48, which changed the four year athletic scholarship to a one year renewable grant. This allowed the athletic departments and head coaches the ability to control a misbehaving player by terminating their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Tempest By William Shakespeare And Mama Day By Gloria... The Tempest by William Shakespeare and Mama Day by Gloria Naylor are two fantastic stories that both belong to the genre magical realism, which is where magical elements are incorporated into realistic fiction. Prospero the main character is robbed of Dukedom and marooned on an island with his infant daughter where he meets natives and fire demons who do his bidding. Mama Day the main character in Gloria Naylor s novel is a no nonsense woman who uses her magic to help the other residents of their island. Even though Naylor denies that Mama Day is modern retelling of the Tempest it is hard not see that there are similarities between the stories. However, there are some differences. Prospero takes justice into his own hands, just as the characters around Mama Day take their situations into their own hands. They do not trust Mama Day s ways until they are forced to ask for her help. Whereas Prospero and Miranda might seem like parallel characters because they both use magic, Miranda knows its limits and uses it to help others, while Prospero only discovers the limits of magic after he gives it up. After breaking his staff and throwing his books into the sea, Prospero is left with little to no power of his own. It is in his last speech in the play, in the epilogue, that he realizes that his magic is nothing without outside help. He no longer has the outside power of his books and staffs to make his magic work so he is weak and vulnerable. Prospero realizes he will never get off ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Causes And Risks Of Red Meat Risks in Red Meats Red meat is consumed in mass amounts all over the world. However, there are risks involved in consuming so much red meat. Past research has tied red meat to increased risks of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, certain cancers, as well as mad cow disease. Red meat intake also has an increased risk of mortality and detrimental effects on the environment. What is put into the meat when it is processed adds to these risks. There are some benefits to eating red meat such as getting essential vitamins and minerals like B 12 and iron. It also gives people protein and helps make red blood cells. Too much red meat intake negatively affects people s health, causes many problems, and creates increased risks for diseases and certain cancers. There are many risks when people eat high levels of red meat. A study suggests that the link between consumption of red meat and heart disease may stem from gut microbes breaking down carnitine, a compound found in red meat. These microbes help break down food, in the process forming a variety of small compounds. One of these compounds is trimethylamine, which can be metabolized to form trimethylamine N oxide (TMAO). TMAO has been associated with atherosclerosis, a disease in which fat builds up in the arteries. A team led by Dr. Stanley L. Hazen and Robert A. Koeth asked people to consume beef and a carnitine supplement, regular meat eaters produced more TMAO than vegans or vegetarians (Torgan 2013). When participants took antibiotics to suppress gut microbes, they produced less TMAO after eating carnitine (Torgan 2013). This study suggests that gut microbes are involved in the production of TMAO from carnitine putting people more at risk for heart disease and cardiac events like heart attacks, strokes, and death as well as atherosclerosis. These health issues lead to cardiovascular risk and disease. Red meat consumption is associated with increased risk of type 2 diabetes. A study found that three extra servings of red meat every week increases the risk of developing diabetes by 50 percent (qtd. by Scutti, 2013). With increased intake of red meat there is a higher risk for people to get type 2 diabetes. Reducing red meat consumption by 0.5 servings per day had a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. The Theory Of The Mind Becomes Of Critical Importance As neuroscience research progresses, the concept of the mind becomes of critical importance. The mind is usually considered to be a separate, nonmaterial entity compared to the physical neurons within the brain. However, the field of neuroscience is finding many connections between the physical nature of the brain and the supposed non physical aspect of the human mind. In a sense, neuroscience seeks to understand the functioning of the mind in terms of the physical neuronal firings of the brain. In addition, neuroscience seeks further information concerning the fixity and plasticity of the brain. The field of neuropsychology was developed in response to these questions. The field of neuropsychology was born at the beginning of the 20th century, shortly after the end of World War II. Early neuropsychology was a combination of 20th century neurologist s views and experimental psychology s new behavioral techniques. The returning veterans from World War II sparked the rapid growth of the field. Many veterans developed cases of mental illness from their exposure to the horrors of war. Thus, the field of neuropsychology was born in response to a medical need. The rush in neuropsychology did not slow after World War II, but rather transitioned into the study of cognition. Early neuropsychology studies of cognition generally investigated the topics of memory and visual perception. For example, neurophysiologists David Hubel and Thorsten Wiesel studied the vision of cats via ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Winterbourne View and Baby P Essay Winterbourne View and Baby P In reports for both Winterbourne View and Baby P, there are serious failures from all care providers in ensuring safe and adequate care and safeguarding of the individuals involved. The serious failures and issues range from a lack of communication and reporting, to physical and mental abuse (in the case of Winterbourne View), and a lack of training and acceptance of responsibility in both cases. Winterbourne View: Winterbourne View, a private residential home caring for those with learning difficulties, challenging behaviour and complex needs, was closed in June 2011 after a CQC inspection found that the registered care provider, Castlebeck Care (Teesdale) Ltd had failed to ensure that people living ... People who had no background in care services had been recruited, references were not always checked and staff were not trained or supervised properly. Some staff were also too easily ready to use methods of restraint without considering alternatives. The report concluded that there was a systemic failure to protect people or to investigate allegations of abuse. The provider had failed in its legal duty to notify the Care Quality Commission of serious incidents including injuries to patients or occasions when they had gone missing. • 36. Sepoy Mutiny Imperialism There were many connections between racism, colonialism, and imperialism during the British rule in India. For example, the Sepoy Mutiny. The Sepoy Mutiny was a connection of all three. The British controlled India (imperialism) because of all the goods that India held (i.e. spices). Now, Britain was all about making money. They found ways in which they could make profit and by ruling India, it was the perfect way to make even more money. But during the British rule in India, many people were not happy about the way that the Europeans were treating them. They were forming a deep hatred for the British because the British had decided to come and barge into their country (colonialism) and start ordering them around and treating them disrespectfully. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Taj Mahal was a sacred building to the Indians. It held so much meaning for them. But the British used it as a space where parties and events were held. And not only did they disrespect the building like that, but some of the Taj Mahal s jewels and stones were stolen. This was a building resentment for the Indians and they eventually fought back when they had enough of that disrespect. Other examples from European history that support my claims is the American Revolution. Americans had enough of the British rule in the thirteen colonies. They were tired of getting ripped off their goods, getting taxed for nothing, and overall tired of Great Britain s greed for money. America was essentially created to get away from Britain, so that people could get that freedom and independence that they longed for. But somehow, Britain managed to sneak their way back in (colonialism/imperialism) and gain control of America. Americans resented British rule and fought long and hard, just like the Indians, to get away from British rule. America wanted to get away from the British; they opposed British rule and ...
