Comparing Gilgamesh And The Book Of Genesis
The Epic of Gilgamesh depicts a story about Gilgamesh, a king on earth who is two thirds god and
one third human. However, he is young and oppresses his people ruthlessly. The story takes the reader
on a journey through a series of events that ultimately leads Gilgamesh to find his true self. One
important historical event that took place is the flood, which occurs in both the Epic of Gilgamesh and
the Book of Genesis in the Old Testament. The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Book of Genesis in the Old
Testament share a great amount of similarities.
In both books, there are Gods who possess almighty powers on earth. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Enlil,
the god of the winds, calls for a flood to end all of mankind because man was too noisy. Similarly, in
the Book of Genesis, God calls for a great flood to destroy all mankind because they were sinning. In
the Epic of Gilgamesh, Ea, the god of wisdom tells Utnapishtim in a dream to tear his house down and
build a boat. On the other hand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though both were terrible floods that ended all of mankind. Genesis from the old Testament had
a duration of 40 long days and nights. In the old Testament the means of the flood were heavy rain and
ground water. On the other hand is Gilgamesh which had a duration of short 6 days and nights. It also
ended with only just heavy rain no ground water. Also the shape of the ark was a big difference, in
Genesis its shape is a rectangular type of shape. In Gligamesh its more of a square shaped boat. When
the flood was all over they released birds to test the land and find a secure location. In Genesis the
birds that were used was raven and three doves but on the other hand Gilgamesh used a Dove,
swallow a Raven. When word came back about where to head thats when both stories sperated from
each other because Genesis landed at Mt. Ararat while Gilgamesh landed at Mt. Nisir. Both Noah and

What Is The Mood Of Equus By Tom Shaffer
Tom Shaffer s play Equus tells the story of a psychiatrist, Martin Dysart, who treats a young
adolescent who committed a savage act of blinding six horses with a metal spike. The young
adolescent is a stable boy named Alan Strang who is the only child of an opinionated father and a
genteel, religious mother. As Dysart uncovers the reasons behind the boys attack, he to faces his own
issues. Shaffer uses a broad range of the English language to show the differences between his two
main characters, Dysart and Strang. The two main characters of Shaffer s play are portrayed in
different lights throughout the play. Dysart is shown as a man who doubts his own ability as a
psychiatrist and in his ability to heal others psychiatric problems. This

The Effects Of Osteoporosis On The Bone Disease
The Effects of Osteoporosis Osteoporosis is a bone disease that occurs when the body loses too much
bone, too little bone, or both. Because of this, bones become weak and may break from a fall, or
worse, break from sneezing or minor bumps (National Osteoporosis Foundation). Osteoporosis means
porous bone . A healthy bone under a microscope looks like a honeycomb, when osteoporosis is taking
place, the holes and spaces in the honeycomb are much larger than in the healthy bone. Bones that are
osteoporotic have lost density, and contain abnormal tissue structure. When bones lose this density,
they weaken and are more likely to break. Osteoporosis is often called a silent disease because one can
t feel bones weakening. Breaking a bone is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Smoking can lead to lower bone density, and higher risk of fracture, and this risk increases with age.
Over four units of alcohol a day can double the risk of a hip fracture. The risk of vertebral and hip
fractures in men increases greatly with heavy alcohol intake, particularly with long term intake. Low
body weight and weight loss is associated with greater bone loss and increased risk of fracture. Some
young females, particularly those training for elite athletic competitions, exercise too much, eat too
little, and consequently experience amenorrhea, which makes them at risk for low bone mass and
fractures. Middle aged and older men and women with annual height loss 0.5 cm is at an increased
risk of hip and any other fractures. Falls contribute to fractures ninety percent of hip fractures result
from falls. A third of people over age sixty five fall annually, with approximately ten to fifteen percent
of falls in the elderly resulting in fractures. Almost sixty percent of those who fell the previous year,
will fall again. Use of anxiolytics, sedatives, neuroleptics, and antidepressants has been shown to

Parody In Medusa
The classical tradition in the medieval times has an articulate work of art should stand by itself
without the need of interpretation. As one literally scholar would state, the classical era states that
interpretation is ambiguous, and does not always prevail . Yet, now in our society, art s interpretation
can be one or all: a parody, an abstract, a pastiche, or non art. Pain and suffering constituted things
with which for him to identify. His own family had made a grueling transition from the war and
turmoil ravaged areas of Prussia (now Czech) Although many of his works have become instantly
recognizeable, famous in their own right, the distinct themes of the classical tradition s work have no
direct meaning. The classical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Gericault referenced a tragic, contemporary event in The Raft of Medusa from 1819, The classical
tradition referenced events at the very time they occurred (see 127 Die in Jet , Tunafish Disaster ) . For
him, the borderline between simulated time and actual time was blurry and often nonexistent. Whether
events, people and things were real or not became debatable However flip and casual his observations
may have been, their credence (in this light) cannot be denied. The act of parody had very nearly
become his denouemont, an all too shocking reality, as well as History. As such, The classical tradition
had left his mark for the ages. The term, under this tradition became the rise of the Avant Garde is seen
widely used in the field of visual art and literature. The term derives from the military term, advanced
guard or vanguard and it reflects this movement s role in art history as well. By nature, this movement
was meant to be controversial desiring to challenge the traditional art and the society as a whole. In
the realm of the arts world, works of the Avant Garde carried characteristics which represented
pushing of the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm as well as tearing down the status quo.
Began in 1850 in France, this movement led many artists to initiate works that are experimental,
innovative and unconventional. The three essential features of an

A Study of Religious Healthcare
Religious Healthcare Introduction Religious healthcare came up with the different religions in the
United States of America. The Roman Catholic churches were the first to come up with these systems.
Their intentions were to reach out to the poor who did not have medical covers. The church penetrated
to the remote areas and they were able to put up dispensaries and also offer in house treatments. In
their programs, they included the nutrition education to the people and also the need for physical
fitness. The religion was very influential to the society and their services were received with open
hands. Their medical facility was affordable with quality medication. They provided food supplements
to the malnourished and also issued food stamps to the needy. With the changing society, religion
healthcare became popular and research showed that it is even more popular than any of their
competitors (Pearce, 2005). In the United States, Healthcare has been affected by many changes in the
clinical practice. The social and institutional lives have also affected the systems. The religion sector
has come up with clinics that have lower rates than the general hospitals hence most patients are
comfortable attending those clinics. Religion has taken major impact on its followers despite the
changes in the society. The healthcare system has had its challenges and needs improvements on some
areas (Tollefsen, 2007). For instance, the nursing services have to be well planned. This

Manhunt Incident

scary I ran 15 mph. It was a saturday night and it was my neighbor s birthday party. I called my friend
Gabby and I and said let s meet up at the courts ,and so we did. When we met up and I saw a lot of
other people that came for his party. We were getting bored, so we decided to play a game called
Manhunt. Before we got to play a police officer came and said have you kids seen anything suspicious
in this neighborhood we all said, no at the same time. Then we picked our teams and made them even

My Strengths In Football
One of my strengths in football is passing. Passing is a key part in the game of football. The aim is to
maintain possession to try and create opportunities to score to win the game. When I m going to pass
the ball I make sure that I use the correct technique when deciding to play a certain pass. During a
game I would use the inside of my strong foot (left), keeping the ball low when performing a short
pass. However, when I m going to play a longer pass or switching the ball I would use the laces on my
boot technique by drilling the ball to another teammate judging the weight and height of the pass
depending on the distance away from him. Also I would make sure that I stay very calm and
composed so that I don t make any errors or hesitate.
Anther, strong physical aspect of my game would be my cardiovascular endurance, which enables me
to play to the full 90 minutes and beyond. It allows me to continue working at my best, relentlessly
closing down opposition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This Is because, improving my headers allows me to get enough power in my header within a cross
situation. This means that If my team see that I m good at heading then they would be crossing the ball
in most of the time. If my heading is better that would mean that I I can use this skill to an advantage
for scoring more goals. However, because my heading is a weakness I cannot head the ball first time
when the ball is crossed and cannot get enough power.
When training I will be working on heading. My training program involves football training evolved
around heading the ball. Every week the activities I do I would make sure that I increase the intensity
which would allow my progression to be quicker and see improvements. I will do the same activities
but the will get harder and I will do them for longer each time. I will keep doing these activities so my
effort put in does not start to reverse. I also do the same amount of activities, in the training program,

Shrew And 10 Things I Hate About You Comparison
The Shrew In You
There are many similarities and differences between The Taming of The Shrew and 10 Things I hate
About You. The obvious and main difference is that The Taming of The Shrew was actually written by
William Shakespeare whereas 10 things I Hate About You is not written by William. The language in
the two is a little different though due to the date each was created. A similarity is that the main
characters are the same. The main similarity though is definitely the plot line. The Taming of The
Shrew is a comedy written by William Shakespeare possibly in the year of 1590. It is the second play
that Shakespeare ever wrote. 10 Things I hate About You was filmed in 1999. The movie was directed
by Gil Junger and was released on March 31, 1999. Although the film was later released and the name
was changed it still has the same plot line that Shakespeare wrote. So the movie and play were
basically the same except 10 Things I Hate About You is more modern than the original play. The
language between The Taming of The Shrew and 10 Things I Hate About You is completely different.
In the play the language is older and harder to understand due to the style of it. In the movie the
language is actually a lot easier to understand because it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Katarina, Kate, and Bianca both have the same personality in the play and movie. They are constant

Kate is unpredictable and unpopular. Bianca is very predictable and popular; she is someone that we
would call a blonde. Kate is commonly misunderstood because of her choice to be different and stand
out. I would have to say though in both The Taming of The Shrew and 10 Things I Hate About You
she ends up being my favorite character. In the movie she actually has a good heart throughout the
whole thing, some people just aren t able to understand

Explain The Sequence And Rate Of Each Aspect Of...
Unit 1.
Assessment Criteria 1.1.1.
Explain the sequence and rate of each aspect of development from birth 19 years.
At birth a baby relies on sight and touch for their intellectual development, they have limited
language, and all information is processed visually, as a baby grows they develop intellectually by
participating in imaginative play ie a box becomes a car or train or plane. They will also imitate and
explore new behaviours and forms of play, their confidence will grow as they near the age of 3 years
old, but will still seek reassurance from their parents and carers.
Between the ages of 3 and 7 years old a child will still be processing information visually, along side
this their language skills and thought process will develop, which will have a huge effect on how they
think and interact with others.
As a child progress towards the age of 12 years old they will become less egocentric, and more
understanding of others feelings, thoughts, opinions, and beliefs, specific individual interests will also
develop at this time.
During the teenage years they will become responsible for their own thoughts, words and actions. A
capacity for higher order reasoning will develop, and individual personalities will appear and form.
They will be able to combine and classify items in a more sophisticated manner, and begin to consider
their futures. Support, guidance and help, on moral, ethical, social, economic and cultural issues, at
these stages of development, can have a huge

Wimmer and Dominick (1994) proposed that U G began in the 1940s when researchers became
interested in why audiences engaged in various forms of media behavior, such as listening to the radio
or reading the newspaper. Still others credit the U G perspective with Schramm s (1949) immediate
reward and delayed reward model of media gratifications (Dozier Rice, 1984). Regardless, early U G
studies were primarily descriptive, seeking to classify the responses of audience members into
meaningful categories (Berelson, Lazarsfeld, McPhee, 1954; Katz Lazarsfeld, 1955; Lazarsfeld,
Berelson, Gaudet, 1948; Merton, 1949). Most scholars agree that early research had little theoretical
coherence and was primarily behaviorist and individualist in its methodological tendencies (McQuail,
1994). The researchers shared a qualitative approach by attempting to group gratifi USES AND

Fast Fashion Vs. Slow ( Luxury ) Fashion
Contemporary Design Issues
Stage One Initial Research Essay
Fast Fashion vs. Slow (Luxury) Fashion
By Alanna Mitchell
In 2014, Jean Paul Gaultier retired from his Ready To Wear line. In an interview with The
Associated Press he said, Too many clothes kills clothes... Fashion has changed. (1) This change that
Gaultier is referring to is known as Fast Fashion . It is a phenomenon within the fashion industry that
has made its way into Australian consumers wardrobes over the past five years (11). It involves
unsustainable production processes that are expedited in order to get new trends to the market as
quickly and cheaply as possible (4) whilst encouraging disposability.
Fashion should never be thought of as a disposable product yet mainstream consumers are still trying
to grasp the notion of paying more for a clean conscience and to understand that luxury is still the best
that money can buy.
The fashion industry is the most labour dependent industry in the world with 1 in 6 people on Earth
somehow being involved in the global fashion industry. 85% of these people are women earning less
than $3 a day. Today we purchase over 80 billion pieces of clothing each year. And while the price of
clothing has been decreasing for decades, the human and environmental costs have grown
dramatically. (3)
The True Cost is an eye opening film directed by Andrew Morgan that gives us an insight into the
global production of fast fashion and the True Cost associated with what we

Deadly force is a force that a person uses causing, or that a person knows or should know would
create a substantial risk of causing, death or seriously bodily harm or injury. Perhaps the most
important kind of discretion that police must exercise relates to the use of force. Although police
officers are legally empowered to use force in certain situations, they may use only the level of force
necessary to meet a lawful police objective (Walker, Mediating Citizen Complaints). The enormous
public attention to allegations of excessive force has deflected attention from the most common forms
of police behavior that lead to citizen complaints. Rudeness, discourtesy, or a failure to provide
adequate service make up the majority of complaints in every jurisdiction (Walker, Mediating Citizen
Complaints). The excessive use of force leads to deadly force. In my opinion, I think that if people
would just cooperate with police officers instead of resisting arrest or etc. there wouldn t be such use
of excessive force or even deadly force. In 2010, we saw a large increase in the number of deadly
force encounters our officers were involved in. Historically, the city has had about six officer involved
shootings per year. We had 14 in 2010, and the majority of those were fatal. (Police Executive

We Live In Such A World Claude Mckay Meaning
Imagine a world with joy and happiness everything is flawless,No racism, no violence, no poverty and
no hate; we live in a utopian world. We do not live in such a world, it is nothing like this. The poem by
Claude McKay and the picture by Brittany Jackson have expressed that this world is not as perfect as
we think it is. The poem written by Claude McKay and the picture by Brittany Jackson both describe
the theme of how hatred is so easily acted upon.
The picture that Brittany Jackson illustrates, describes anger. You can see the anger in this picture
because of how easily he is eating the world, if he was not so angry then he would not be eating the
world so easily. If he was happy then it might be hard for him to eat the world, that is if he has a
conscience. You can also see that the man is cutting the world with a knife and if you were to cut a
world, then it would need a tougher knife than just a butter knife. Another detail that expresses anger
is his grip around the knife. I know for me I would not be gripping ... Show more content on

The entire time, he is talking about birds but, that is just a metaphor. These birds kill so viciously, they

but, leave and the birds do not put it out of misery. And tugging and tearing without let or pause (line

apart the prey and they do not stop. This just shows much more on how the birds are destroying.

Due to the potential deadly nature of the Yellow Fever, it would be vital that people within the
community get vaccinated immediately after an outbreak happens. India is a highly populated area
with a generally warm climate. The environment in India would sustain the vectors necessary for
transmitting Yellow Fever, and the massive quantity of potential hosts could lead to a massive
outbreak. Businesses would be affected because travel into the outbreak area would slow down. The
local government would have to focus on the outbreak instead of other local issues. The local
government would have to report the case to the higher levels of government and thus relaying the
information to the World Health Organization. Hospitals would have to supply screening and
vaccinations to the citizens of the community. Patients would fill hospital beds until treatment is
finished, and this would lead to an overcrowding of patients in the hospital. Schools would have to
have ways of getting screening of students. Due to the students being close to one another throughout
the day, the students would need bug spray, and long sleeved shirts with pants. The school would have
to use money on resources such as screens for open windows and doors so that the vectors cannot get
into the classrooms. Prevention is key when discussing how to put a stop to outbreaks like yellow
fever. There are two main prevention strategies one should follow to avoid yellow fever. The first one
involves the use of personal protective measures to limit your exposure to the mosquitoes. Firstly, this
includes the use of insect repellent. The CDC recommends Environmental Protecting Agency

Ways Hartley and Frayn present Childhood in The...
In the Go Between, Hartley presents the world of children and childhood through the first person
narrative (from the viewpoints of the young and old Leo), Leo s vivid imagination, the themes of
growing up and self awareness, the conflict between the child and adult world, and the portrayal of
Leo as a school boy. Firstly, the writer portrays the world of children through the first person narrative
which encapsulates young Leo s fresh, spontaneous optimism and hope towards the dawning of a new
era, My dreams for the twentieth century, and for myself, were coming true (Chapter 1. p. 28).
Therefore, this device allows the reader direct access to the intensity yet simplicity of a child s point of
view and enhances Leo s personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
p. 82). Therefore, the adult narrator s ability to comment and reflect on his child self effectively
emphasizes the naïve and vulnerable nature of youth, and contributes to the mood of foreboding and
suspense throughout the novel, now I was over confident. I expected things to go my way (Chapter 1.
p. 28). In addition, the two voices in the narrative illustrate the contrasting perceptions of childhood
and maturity as we can see that the younger Leo simply believes if he went away...the relationship
between Ted and Marian would cease (Chapter 16. p. 182), whereas the elder Leo is able to analyse
his feelings, I thought I knew what was best for myself...I was shaken and frightened (Chapter 16. p.
183). Consequently, the first person narrative in the past tense effectively conveys a sense of the adult
narrator carefully exploring his conscious in a philosophical manner, whereas child narrator s naïve
attitude is portrayed in his black and white perception of the crisis, believing that he is solely to blame
for the blossoming of the lovers affair, I had attacked them first (Chapter 16. p. 182). Thus, the reader
feels a certain degree of sympathy towards Leo s predicament as he possesses a common child like
sense of misguided responsibility. However, it is evident that he is merely facilitating the relationship
between Ted and Marian. Nevertheless, the writer also presents Leo as somewhat egocentric as he sees

Heroin Research Paper Heroin has been around since the 1960s . It was first used as a cure for
tuberculosis and soon became a bigger problem. Many people have died from the use of Heroin
because of the fact that they do not know how much heroin can affect hem. Sure it will make the feel
good the first time they take, but once your body becomes dependent it can be a very time consuming
and painful experience. Crime rates have and are slightly increasing because of the use of Heroin.

Porsche Changes Tack Essay
Porsche Changes Tack
Yes, of course, we have heard of shareholder value. But that does not change the fact that we put
customers first, then workers, then business partners, suppliers and dealers, and then shareholders. Dr.
Wendelin Wiedeking, CEO, Porsche, Die Zeit, April 17, 2005.
Porsche had always been different. Statements by Porsche leadership, like the one above, always made
Veselina (Vesi) Dinova nervous about the company s attitude about creating shareholder value. The
company was a paradox. Porsche s attitudes and activities were like that of a family owned firm, but it

Efficiency is not really critical because the firm s financial goals are not exclusively shareholder
oriented since they are constrained by the other stakeholders. In any case, stakeholder capitalism
assumes that long term loyal shareholders typically, controlling shareholders rather than the transient
portfolio investor should influence corporate strategy. Although both philosophies have their strengths
and weaknesses, two trends in recent years have led to an increasing focus on shareholder wealth.
First, as more of the non Anglo American markets have increasingly privatized their industries, the
shareholder wealth focus is seemingly needed to attract international capital from outside investors,
many of whom are from other countries. Second, and still quite controversial, many analysts believe
that shareholder based multinationals are increasingly dominating their global industry segments.

Mark Hamill Accomplishments
Before I mentioned that Mark Hamill hasn t had many major on screen roles but he has had a very
successful career as a voice actor and is mainly famous for voicing the Joker in Batman: The
Animated Series and Batman: Arkham video game series. He has been voicing the Joker for 18 years
in nearly every project, as fans get grumpy when somebody else is cast in his stead. (Forbes.com,

Mark Hamill is a cult star because of whom he played in Star Wars. By playing Luke Skywalker he
made his career but at the same time ruined it because everyone knew who he was and he was known
worldwide but not the actor he is. Instead of gaining his own identity of Mark Hamill, the actor, he
was tied to the identity Luke Skywalker for a few different reasons such as facial scars and not having
many other on screen roles compared to his co stars. This directly impacted him in a few roles because
people didn t want Luke Skywalker in their film. He is a cult star because he has a loyal fan base for
both Star Wars and the Animated Batman Series as the voice of the Joker. He is classed as a cult star
because of the voice acting, just because it isn t a on screen role doesn t mean he cant be cult because
of it. He has a loyal fan base that loves his voice acting skills and don t want him to pass the mantle to

In certain religions and cultures, cancer is considered taboo and unspoken of, but spirituality is an
important component that serves as a bridge between the religion/culture and cancer. Spirituality is an
important addition to cultural considerations to curating a successive EOLC plan for children with
cancer. The concept of spirituality can be defined as how an individual seeks and expresses meaning
and purpose (Foster et al., 2010). It also involves how they connect to the moment, self, others, and
the sacred (Foster et al., 2010). Spiritual care is important because it can foster an environment where
children and their families can continue to grow even through the illness experience. Spirituality is
often neglected and overlooked by physicians who focus mainly on eliminating visible symptoms.
While health care providers may not necessarily see the benefits of attending to the spirituality of a
cancer patient, spiritual care and EOLC can help make life more meaningful for the individual. In this
population (children with cancer), it is especially important to involve the patient, this translates to
actively asking and listening patient about their values and feelings. The expression of spirituality is
an important developmental milestone in children, because it centers on the child s understanding of

Jean Paul Sartre No Exit Existentialism Essay
It was in the 19 Th centuries where a French writer Jean Paul Sartre who popularized the concept of
existentialism this was during his play No Exit. Sartre explained Existentialism, which states on the
belief that life has no meaning. Each is separate from all other individuals, so each person has the
power to place himself in the position he wishes, that every individual is responsible for his actions.
(Reynolds)People should be responsible for themselves rather than make excuses for the occurrences
in their life, the belief that humans have free will. The play was published in 1943. In his plays
introduces us to three main characters that are locked up in a room in hell. The first character is an
assassinated journalist by the name of Garcia, believes that he is in hell for mistreating his wife. The
second character is a postal worker and seduces her fellow women by the name Inez. The final
character murdered her child which led to the child s father committing suicide is called Estelle. The
three characters in the play are intelligent and can figure out the situation none of the characters has a

Of Nervous Conditions By Chinua Achebe s Nervous Conditions
THE AUTHENTICITY OF AFRICAN STORIES
Africa has been viewed as the antithesis of Europe. It has been undermined as some may say it is
underdeveloped. It has been portrayed as the exact opposite of civilised Europe as it is viewed as
uncivilised. Africans have been eliminated as a human factor and seen as animals. In this essay I will
outline how African literature have been able to reclaim African stories through their authenticity. I
will use the novel Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga and two short stories A Private
Experience by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and The Prophetess by Njabulo Ndebele to show how
Africa has been successfully reclaimed from the stereotypical view of Europeans drawing as a basis
for further development from Chinua Achebe s article, An Image of Africa. I will first analyse the
novel Nervous Conditions under the theme of gender and patriarchal oppression. The short story A
Private Experience will focus on class divisions whilst The Prophetess will focus on beliefs.
According to Chinua Achebe, Joseph Conrad in his novella, Heart of Darkness represents Africa in an
opposite way to what Africa really is. He says Conrad depicts Africa as different and unknowable in
contrast to Europe. He views it as the exact opposite of Europe. Africa is viewed as uncivilised.
Joseph Conrad s novella eliminates Africans as a human factor and represents Africa as a blank stage
where Europeans enter an implicitly dangerous zone which functions as a plot

Roaring 20 s Use Of Hindsight In The Great Depression
The problem with comprehension is, it often comes too late. Rasmenia Massoud is talking here about
what is called hindsight. Hindsight is the way in which you can understand a situation only after it has
happened or developed. When looking at history, we use a lot of hindsight. In the case of the Roaring
20 s turning into the Great Depression, we can see in hindsight that there were many extraneous and
careless occurrences in the 20s that spawned the Great Depression whereas during the 20s we didn t
see this. We can now use hindsight to see that these detrimental factors stemmed from the stock
market, the government, and society at the time. At the time, things seemed great but we can see now
that they inflicted a lot of burden later on. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
President Warren Harding and President Calvin Coolidge were the Presidents during the roaring 20s
and they favored large businesses and helped those businesses by making tax cuts that encouraged
business expansion. While the rising of these big businesses did help in decreasing unemployment,
they also played a role in the increase of the cost of living. This higher cost of living made the Great
Depression worse. Another lapse of judgement by the government pertained to both the stock market
and the federal banking system. In the 20 s banks were allowed to invest in land and the stock market
with very little government regulations. The banks were using the people s money to invest in unstable
and unpredictable endeavors. When the stock market crashed, the banks had no money to give back to
the people who stored their money in the banks.
Society in America also helped unknowingly cause the Great Depression. In the 1920s manufacturing
and agricultural advancements in technology caused the increase in efficiency in production. This
seemed to be a great thing, however there wasn t enough demand of these products to keep up with the
rapid production because people weren t making enough money. The leftover supply of these goods
increased dramatically while the income for the farmers stayed low. It set rural, farm areas up to
struggle ever

Analysis Of The Movie Inside Out
Inside Out is the story of a young girl who is forced to leave her old life in Minnesota behind and to
start a new life in San Fransisco all while fighting through her emotions of this big life changing
event. Three theories that we have discussed in class that are present in the movie Inside Out are the
Memory Consolidation theory, Wish Fulfillment theory, and the Creativity theory. Another theory not
talked about in class but present in the movie is the Cognitive Appraisal theory. Memory Consolation
is a sleep theory. According to this theory sleep helps us restore and rebuild our fading memories from
the day. In the film Inside Out the moment Riley shuts her eyes symboling that she is asleep her
memories from the day start to move down a line. Her memories are being sent to long term where we
see them shooting across the sky like shooting starts as they go to different places in her memory. In
reality Memory Consolidation is where after a memory has been in short term memory for about
fifteen to thirty seconds it is than sent to long term memory. In order for memories to form in our long
term they must have some connection to each other. The creators of inside out portrayed this by Riley
s core memory islands, these islands all connect with each other and in some way all the rest of her
life memories connect with them in some sort of way. The memories are than stored. After the
memories are stored in long term memory they are later used and if not used in anyway began

Indigenous Health Essay
Causative considerations are multifactorial regarding the development of low health literacy rates in
Aboriginals, inclusive of socio economical disadvantages, geographical considerations, and
social/environmental influences (Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet, 2015). Differing
conceptualisations of reality or worldview are present within Aboriginal culture, which vary from
westernised civilisation. Indigenous history lacks a biomedical background, and encompasses
differing views of disease/illness, which may be associated with personal actions/behaviours, social
order, and spiritual health. As an example, disease may be viewed as the consequence of
sorcery/voodoo (Vass, Mitchell, Dhurrkay, 2011). Other factors may stem from mistrust of
westernised medicine/civilisation due to The Stolen Generation or social engineering and previous

The Library Field At A Young Age
Introduction I became interested in the library field at a young age. Through school library programs
and trips to the public library with my family I developed an appreciation for the library as a place and
for the talented men and women who staffed the library. This appreciation continued through my time
at Southern Connecticut State University, where I earned my BS in information and library science in
the winter of 2011. It was in through the university s library, Hilton C. Buley library, that I revived my
first professional experience in the field of library science. I worked for three years at Buley as a
student worker in the access services department. During these three years I felt an immense sense of
fulfillment in my work which propelled me to further my education in the field and enroll at San Jose
State University. After graduating from Southern Connecticut State University, I worked for a brief
time at West Haven Public Library in West Haven, Connecticut as a part time library assistant. I found
the transformation from an academic library to public library broadened my thoughts and opinions
concerning library policies and patron interaction. Nonetheless, I found work at public libraries just as
fulfilling as my work at Buley. In the fall of 2012 I was offered a full time position at Hilton C. Buley

The Negative Effects Of Downloading Music From The Music...
While few people may argue that downloading music from the internet should not be illegal, many
others realize that it is clearly an act of theft to steal the work of others. The amount of the music
being illegally downloaded has risen tremendously over the years causing music industries worldwide
to cripple and disappear. As many may say that downloading music illegally is not harmful in any
way, they are imperceptive to the fact that it is causing a large amount of decreasing revenue. As
Marielena Reyes states The immediate effects from online piracy can be the sales drop from CD labels
and signings with artists, which could then lead to the large sums of money music industries claim to
have lost. Downloading music does not have any negative effects to music industry finances, artists
credibility, and earrings. Reyes claims music industries will gain money off of online piracy due to the
fact that sales of CD labels and signings with artist will drop but later on this will only cause the music
industries to lose billions since that is what they depend on. Potential know loses to all American
Industry could amount to as much as $63 billion, with the current losses occurring at a rate of $2

Unfortunately, this is true for some citizens of this great United States of America. In the absence of a

The Value Of The Balance Sheet
The main purpose of the balance sheet is to reflect and explain the accounting equation: Assets =
Liabilities + Owner s Equity. This equation is the fundamental model for recording and reporting
transactions. It is essentially useful for showing what the company owns, what the company owes, and
what does the owner s equity remains. The ordering of the assets and the liabilities help the user to
assess the liquidity of the company. For our purpose focusing on Walt Disney World, we are primarily
focused on their assets and liabilities. In analyzing the balance sheet of our company, we will explain
each aspects of the balance sheet in three separate parts.
To understand how the total assets changed within a year, we shall look at each aspects of the assets.
In the cash and cash equivalent, we have seen that the cash in hand decreased in 2013 from $3,931 to

Video compression utilizes high computational power. For real time requirements of multimedia
applications faster computations need to be performed. To fulfill such requirements of video
compression a parallel computational algorithm can be implemented. In this thesis, the parallelism of
multi core architecture was exploited using block matching algorithm. The test implementation of the
algorithm was done on MATLAB. The parallel model was designed using OpenMP and its
implementation was tested on multi core architectures. The parallel implementation divides a current
frame into independent macro blocks and each block is allotted to OpenMP section which then assigns
it to a thread for performing the computations. The result of the implementation shows speedier
computations with effective utilization of multi cores. This work suggests a promising approach which
can further be developed and exploited. Keywords motion estimation, block matching algorithm, multi
core architecture, OpenMP, multithreading. I. INTRODUCTION In the present motion estimation
scenario, faster and more efficient algorithm needed to be

  • 2. Comparing Gilgamesh And The Book Of Genesis The Epic of Gilgamesh depicts a story about Gilgamesh, a king on earth who is two thirds god and one third human. However, he is young and oppresses his people ruthlessly. The story takes the reader on a journey through a series of events that ultimately leads Gilgamesh to find his true self. One important historical event that took place is the flood, which occurs in both the Epic of Gilgamesh and the Book of Genesis in the Old Testament. The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Book of Genesis in the Old Testament share a great amount of similarities. In both books, there are Gods who possess almighty powers on earth. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Enlil, the god of the winds, calls for a flood to end all of mankind because man was too noisy. Similarly, in the Book of Genesis, God calls for a great flood to destroy all mankind because they were sinning. In the old Testament the means of the flood were heavy rain and ground water. On the other hand is Gilgamesh which had a duration of short 6 days and nights. It also ended with only just heavy rain no ground water. Also the shape of the ark was a big difference, in Genesis its shape is a rectangular type of shape. In Gligamesh its more of a square shaped boat. When the flood was all over they released birds to test the land and find a secure location. In Genesis the birds that were used was raven and three doves but on the other hand Gilgamesh used a Dove, swallow a Raven. When word came back about where to head thats when both stories sperated from each other because Genesis landed at Mt. Ararat while Gilgamesh landed at Mt. Nisir. Because of this, bones become weak and may break from a fall, or worse, break from sneezing or minor bumps (National Osteoporosis Foundation). Osteoporosis means porous bone . A healthy bone under a microscope looks like a honeycomb, when osteoporosis is taking place, the holes and spaces in the honeycomb are much larger than in the healthy bone. The risk of vertebral and hip fractures in men increases greatly with heavy alcohol intake, particularly with long term intake. Low body weight and weight loss is associated with greater bone loss and increased risk of fracture. As one literally scholar would state, the classical era states that interpretation is ambiguous, and does not always prevail . Yet, now in our society, art s interpretation can be one or all: a parody, an abstract, a pastiche, or non art. Pain and suffering constituted things with which for him to identify. Whether events, people and things were real or not became debatable However flip and casual his observations may have been, their credence (in this light) cannot be denied. • 6. A Study of Religious Healthcare Religious Healthcare Introduction Religious healthcare came up with the different religions in the United States of America. The Roman Catholic churches were the first to come up with these systems. Their intentions were to reach out to the poor who did not have medical covers. The church penetrated to the remote areas and they were able to put up dispensaries and also offer in house treatments. In their programs, they included the nutrition education to the people and also the need for physical fitness. The religion was very influential to the society and their services were received with open hands. Their medical facility was affordable with quality medication. They provided food supplements to the malnourished and also issued food stamps to the needy. With the changing society, religion healthcare became popular and research showed that it is even more popular than any of their competitors (Pearce, 2005). In the United States, Healthcare has been affected by many changes in the clinical practice. The social and institutional lives have also affected the systems. The religion sector has come up with clinics that have lower rates than the general hospitals hence most patients are comfortable attending those clinics. Religion has taken major impact on its followers despite the changes in the society. The healthcare system has had its challenges and needs improvements on some areas (Tollefsen, 2007). The aim is to maintain possession to try and create opportunities to score to win the game. During a game I would use the inside of my strong foot (left), keeping the ball low when performing a short pass. The obvious and main difference is that The Taming of The Shrew was actually written by William Shakespeare whereas 10 things I Hate About You is not written by William. The language in the two is a little different though due to the date each was created. A similarity is that the main characters are the same. The main similarity though is definitely the plot line. The Taming of The Shrew is a comedy written by William Shakespeare possibly in the year of 1590. It is the second play that Shakespeare ever wrote. 10 Things I hate About You was filmed in 1999. The movie was directed by Gil Junger and was released on March 31, 1999. Although the film was later released and the name was changed it still has the same plot line that Shakespeare wrote. So the movie and play were basically the same except 10 Things I Hate About You is more modern than the original play. The language between The Taming of The Shrew and 10 Things I Hate About You is completely different. In the play the language is older and harder to understand due to the style of it. At birth a baby relies on sight and touch for their intellectual development, they have limited language, and all information is processed visually, as a baby grows they develop intellectually by participating in imaginative play ie a box becomes a car or train or plane. They will also imitate and explore new behaviours and forms of play, their confidence will grow as they near the age of 3 years old, but will still seek reassurance from their parents and carers. Between the ages of 3 and 7 years old a child will still be processing information visually, along side this their language skills and thought process will develop, which will have a huge effect on how they think and interact with others. As a child progress towards the age of 12 years old they will become less egocentric, and more understanding of others feelings, thoughts, opinions, and beliefs, specific individual interests will also develop at this time. In an interview with The Associated Press he said, Too many clothes kills clothes... Fashion has changed. (1) This change that Gaultier is referring to is known as Fast Fashion . It is a phenomenon within the fashion industry that has made its way into Australian consumers wardrobes over the past five years (11). It involves unsustainable production processes that are expedited in order to get new trends to the market as quickly and cheaply as possible (4) whilst encouraging disposability. Fashion should never be thought of as a disposable product yet mainstream consumers are still trying to grasp the notion of paying more for a clean conscience and to understand that luxury is still the best that money can buy. The fashion industry is the most labour dependent industry in the world with 1 in 6 people on Earth somehow being involved in the global fashion industry. 85% of these people are women earning less than $3 a day. Deadly force is a force that a person uses causing, or that a person knows or should know would create a substantial risk of causing, death or seriously bodily harm or injury. Perhaps the most important kind of discretion that police must exercise relates to the use of force. Although police officers are legally empowered to use force in certain situations, they may use only the level of force necessary to meet a lawful police objective (Walker, Mediating Citizen Complaints). The enormous public attention to allegations of excessive force has deflected attention from the most common forms of police behavior that lead to citizen complaints. Rudeness, discourtesy, or a failure to provide adequate service make up the majority of complaints in every jurisdiction (Walker, Mediating Citizen Complaints). The excessive use of force leads to deadly force. In my opinion, I think that if people would just cooperate with police officers instead of resisting arrest or etc. there wouldn t be such use of excessive force or even deadly force. The poem written by Claude McKay and the picture by Brittany Jackson both describe the theme of how hatred is so easily acted upon. The picture that Brittany Jackson illustrates, describes anger. You can see the anger in this picture because of how easily he is eating the world, if he was not so angry then he would not be eating the world so easily. If he was happy then it might be hard for him to eat the world, that is if he has a conscience. Firstly, the writer portrays the world of children through the first person narrative which encapsulates young Leo s fresh, spontaneous optimism and hope towards the dawning of a new era, My dreams for the twentieth century, and for myself, were coming true (Chapter 1. p. 28). Therefore, the adult narrator s ability to comment and reflect on his child self effectively emphasizes the naïve and vulnerable nature of youth, and contributes to the mood of foreboding and suspense throughout the novel, now I was over confident. I expected things to go my way (Chapter 1. p. 28). In addition, the two voices in the narrative illustrate the contrasting perceptions of childhood and maturity as we can see that the younger Leo simply believes if he went away...the relationship between Ted and Marian would cease (Chapter 16. p. 182), whereas the elder Leo is able to analyse his feelings, I thought I knew what was best for myself...I was shaken and frightened (Chapter 16. p. 183). Consequently, the first person narrative in the past tense effectively conveys a sense of the adult narrator carefully exploring his conscious in a philosophical manner, whereas child narrator s naïve attitude is portrayed in his black and white perception of the crisis, believing that he is solely to blame for the blossoming of the lovers affair, I had attacked them first (Chapter 16. p. 182). Thus, the reader feels a certain degree of sympathy towards Leo s predicament as he possesses a common child like sense of misguided responsibility. In certain religions and cultures, cancer is considered taboo and unspoken of, but spirituality is an important component that serves as a bridge between the religion/culture and cancer. Spirituality is an important addition to cultural considerations to curating a successive EOLC plan for children with cancer. The concept of spirituality can be defined as how an individual seeks and expresses meaning and purpose (Foster et al., 2010). It also involves how they connect to the moment, self, others, and the sacred (Foster et al., 2010). Spiritual care is important because it can foster an environment where children and their families can continue to grow even through the illness experience. Spirituality is often neglected and overlooked by physicians who focus mainly on eliminating visible symptoms. While health care providers may not necessarily see the benefits of attending to the spirituality of a cancer patient, spiritual care and EOLC can help make life more meaningful for the individual. It has been undermined as some may say it is underdeveloped. It has been portrayed as the exact opposite of civilised Europe as it is viewed as uncivilised. Africans have been eliminated as a human factor and seen as animals. In this essay I will outline how African literature have been able to reclaim African stories through their authenticity. I will use the novel Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga and two short stories A Private Experience by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and The Prophetess by Njabulo Ndebele to show how Africa has been successfully reclaimed from the stereotypical view of Europeans drawing as a basis for further development from Chinua Achebe s article, An Image of Africa. I will first analyse the novel Nervous Conditions under the theme of gender and patriarchal oppression. The short story A Private Experience will focus on class divisions whilst The Prophetess will focus on beliefs. According to Chinua Achebe, Joseph Conrad in his novella, Heart of Darkness represents Africa in an opposite way to what Africa really is. He says Conrad depicts Africa as different and unknowable in contrast to Europe. He views it as the exact opposite of Europe. Africa is viewed as uncivilised. Hindsight is the way in which you can understand a situation only after it has happened or developed. When looking at history, we use a lot of hindsight. In the case of the Roaring 20 s turning into the Great Depression, we can see in hindsight that there were many extraneous and careless occurrences in the 20s that spawned the Great Depression whereas during the 20s we didn t see this. We can now use hindsight to see that these detrimental factors stemmed from the stock market, the government, and society at the time. At the time, things seemed great but we can see now that they inflicted a lot of burden later on. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... President Warren Harding and President Calvin Coolidge were the Presidents during the roaring 20s and they favored large businesses and helped those businesses by making tax cuts that encouraged business expansion. While the rising of these big businesses did help in decreasing unemployment, they also played a role in the increase of the cost of living. This higher cost of living made the Great Depression worse. Another lapse of judgement by the government pertained to both the stock market and the federal banking system. In the 20 s banks were allowed to invest in land and the stock market with very little government regulations. The banks were using the people s money to invest in unstable and unpredictable endeavors. When the stock market crashed, the banks had no money to give back to the people who stored their money in the banks. Society in America also helped unknowingly cause the Great Depression. Analysis Of The Movie Inside Out Inside Out is the story of a young girl who is forced to leave her old life in Minnesota behind and to start a new life in San Fransisco all while fighting through her emotions of this big life changing event. Three theories that we have discussed in class that are present in the movie Inside Out are the Memory Consolidation theory, Wish Fulfillment theory, and the Creativity theory. Another theory not talked about in class but present in the movie is the Cognitive Appraisal theory. Memory Consolation is a sleep theory. According to this theory sleep helps us restore and rebuild our fading memories from the day. In the film Inside Out the moment Riley shuts her eyes symboling that she is asleep her memories from the day start to move down a line. Her memories are being sent to long term where we see them shooting across the sky like shooting starts as they go to different places in her memory. In reality Memory Consolidation is where after a memory has been in short term memory for about fifteen to thirty seconds it is than sent to long term memory. In order for memories to form in our long term they must have some connection to each other. The creators of inside out portrayed this by Riley s core memory islands, these islands all connect with each other and in some way all the rest of her life memories connect with them in some sort of way. The ordering of the assets and the liabilities help the user to assess the liquidity of the company. For our purpose focusing on Walt Disney World, we are primarily focused on their assets and liabilities. In analyzing the balance sheet of our company, we will explain each aspects of the balance sheet in three separate parts. To understand how the total assets changed within a year, we shall look at each aspects of the assets. For real time requirements of multimedia applications faster computations need to be performed. To fulfill such requirements of video compression a parallel computational algorithm can be implemented. In this thesis, the parallelism of multi core architecture was exploited using block matching algorithm. The test implementation of the algorithm was done on MATLAB. The parallel model was designed using OpenMP and its implementation was tested on multi core architectures. The parallel implementation divides a current frame into independent macro blocks and each block is allotted to OpenMP section which then assigns it to a thread for performing the computations. The result of the implementation shows speedier computations with effective utilization of multi cores. This work suggests a promising approach which can further be developed and exploited.
