Reaction Paper On Copycat Violence
THE COPYCAT REJECT

Shaudee Houshmand Dr. Piff

The Copycat Reject
On Sunday 5 November 2017, at least 26 people died and 20 others were injured in the
First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. This incident marked the 307th mass shooting in
2017 and it was the largest mass shooting in Texas. The mass murderer of this event was Devin
Patrick Kelley, who was 26 years old. Kelley began shooting at the church early Sunday morning. On
Sunday, the church was having its morning service at 11 a.m. and the shooting began shortly after.
Kelley was armed with two weapons, a rifle and a handgun. One of the weapons Kelley was armed
with was a Ruger military style rifle (Montgomery, Mele, Fernandez, 2017). Immediately following
the shooting, an armed bystander shot Kelley and wounded him. Kelley dropped his Ruger AR rifle,
and was able to get in his car. Kelley was able to flee in his vehicle, but was later found dead after
running his car off of the road. Later, an autopsy showed Kelley had three gunshot wounds. One was
in the leg, one in the torso, and one in the head which was self inflicted.
The first social psychology theory that may explain this event is copycat violence. Copycat violence is
a social psychology theory which describes the imitation of a specific violent act that has been
depicted in the media. A well known form of copycat violence is suicide. A study illustrated the more
newspaper space that was devoted to suicide showed an

For most NFL players, their salary is their biggest form...
For most NFL players, their salary is their biggest form of compensation. As part of the collective
bargaining agreement, the NFLPA implements something called a salary cap. A salary cap is a limit on
how much a team can spend on a particular player s salary or on a team s entire salary. Salary,
according to the agreement, is money, property, investments, loans, and anything else of value to an
NFL player (both rookies, veterans, and players with terminated contracts) but not including benefits
(CBA). It also can cover any payments made by third parties or club affiliates even if the money is for
non football services A player s base salary is the money earned while playing during the regular NFL
season. The collective bargaining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This encourages a team to make deciding choices early on, and reduces the risk that a team will keep a
player and then cut him in favor of a new. A roster bonus deals with being on active roster during
games. If a player does not suit up , then they are not paid. These bonuses can vary by team. A roster
bonus in season is advantageous to a salary cap because it is dependent on what the player did the year
prior. If a player did not play much the year before, then the amount calculated for the salary cap is
less. If the player plays more in the future year than the past year, then the additional salary is
calculated later on in the season, instead of during the free agency period. This leaves more money
free at the beginning of the season.
Another type of bonus that is accounted in the salary cap is the bonus for offseason workouts.
Mandatory participation cannot be required, so teams offer large bonuses for players who participate
regularly. If the players participate for a certain amount, then they can receive the bonus. At the start
of the 2013 league year, the NFL implemented a cap fee of $504,000 for minimum workouts in
addition to the contracted bonuses. This means that $504,000 would be subtracted from the team
salary cap. If the players do not earn the total of this amount due to nonparticipation, then each team
will receive a

My Reflection On My Experience
My First reflection of my Chinese experience
I intensely remember my first trip to China one year ago. I was just a few weeks into my appointment
as Adviser to the Minister of Economic Development, Tourism, Trade and Entrepreneurship. I was
given the opportunity and privilege to work with this extraordinary professional, and my perception of
China was at the time was still quite asymmetrical.
I took office in my new position, just a couple of months since my return from the Expo Milan 2015
Universal Exhibition, where I served as Director of the Albanian Pavilion throughout the six intensive
months of its duration.
Albania was participating for the first time with a self made pavilion, and was part of the Sicilian

Every week there would be a food tasting from each Chinese region. At the same time such regions
would showcase they re most particular emphasis on the local culture such as in songs or theatre.
I knew for a fact through many stories told to me in a legendary fashion when I was younger, that at
some point in time during the 1960s and 70s, especially after both countries split with Russia, the
relationships between China and Albania was so close that Albania was considered the only beacon of
light and friendship in Europe. I had also heard that this special relationship was so exclusive, that
culturally both countries had shared their music and cinematography during those years. Consequently
there I was, in the Chinese Pavilion, in the middle of one of the biggest and most important worldwide
international events, talking to someone who could remind himself of a socialist era Albanian movie,
and explaining me how most of the Chinese at the time were so fond of the Albanian cinematography,
that some of them could still remember the popular Albanian national liberation greeting death to the
fascists, freedom to the people . I was astounded.
While I was preparing for my trip to China, a bilateral ministerial meeting in Ningbo, I did a resume
of the bilateral agreements and the cooperation between the two countries. I was astound to find that
they were covering pretty much any

Summary OfThe Birth-Mark By Nathanial Hawthorne
The societal standards of human beauty and perfection, and the dangers that come with exploratory
science and knowledge can be destructive to the human mind and possibly harmful to the human body
as well. The Birth Mark , written by Nathanial Hawthorne in 1843, is the story of scientist, Aylmer,
and his obsession over human perfection; specifically, his sentiments on the red, hand shaped
birthmark on his wife, Georgiana s, left cheek. This passage, found more so near the beginning of the
story, describes a dream Aylmer had of performing an unsuccessful operation on Georgiana s
birthmark. Though he was unable to cut the flaw out of her skin, it did not stop him from wanting to
cut deeper into her skin, despite the grasp the Hand had on her heart. The passage functions to
foreshadow Georgiana s fate while demonstrating Aylmer s passion and dedication for science and
personifying the Hand s connection with Georgiana. While presenting oneself well and knowledge are
typically seen as useful characteristics, Hawthorne reminds his readers that flaws are a necessity
aspect of human nature that can not and should not be scientifically managed. Aylmer s dream
describes a procedure and result in which the reader anticipates will occur at the end of the story,
creating suspense of Georgiana s outcome and highlighting the relationship between Aylmer and
Georgiana as well. Georgiana s dissatisfaction with her birthmark only arose because of Aylmer s
displeased nature with its

Chattel Slaves In Ancient Egypt
Chattel slaves were mostly captives of war. All captives, including civilians not a part of the military
forces, become a royal resource. The pharaoh would then resettle the captives by moving them into
colonies for labour, giving them to temples, giving them as rewards to deserving individuals, and
giving them to his soldiers as booty. Some chattel slaves began as free people who were found guilty
of committing illicit acts and were forced to give up their freedom. Other chattel slaves were born into
the life from a slave mother.
Bonded laborers
Ancient Egyptians were able to sell themselves into slavery in a form of bonded labor. Selfsale into
servitude was not always a choice made by the individuals free will, but rather a result of individuals

As indentured slaves they did not lose all their civil rights; and sometimes the economic security
gained through their new status might seem to be worth giving up some freedoms for. A remnant of
these customs is seen in the demotic contracts concerning security, where grasping the hand refers to
the narrator s hand being held by the creditor showing the money ower giving the creditor power over
the slave. Debt slavery was bashed in the Late Dynastic Period. It has been said that the vizier was
able to impose perpetual forced labour on a convicted criminal, which would put him in a position of
virtual slavery.
War Slaves While there had been slaves in Egypt since the start, their numbers greatly increased in the
time of the New Kingdom, when the pharaohs were served to a policy of foreign involvement and

What Is The Role Of Segregation In Public Education
When you look at Brown you are looking at a moment so powerful it is the equivalent of the Big Bang
in our solar system, says historian and commentator Juan Williams.
On May 17th, 1954, the unanimous Brown decision marks a significant day in American s history.
This momentous event culminated in the passage of the Civil Rights Movement into a full revolution
by focusing attention on the subjugation of blacks, fueling a wave of freedom rides, voter registration
efforts, and sit ins. However, while Brown had been unsuccessful in fully desegregating public
education between blacks and whites, it placed the Constitution in support of racial equality, allowing
for many more positive changes for African Americans.
Around 58 years before the verdict in Brown, America followed the Plessy Doctrine, a law stating that

these schools were inherently discriminatory and emotionally damaging to African American children.
On the other hand, the board had argued that segregated schools followed the Plessy doctrine and

black schools as being equal, stating that the programs, even for the minority groups, were better than
the courses offered at the white schools. Attorneys for Topeka concluded their argument with the
statement stating that all things considered, discrimination by race did not harm

Sex Offenders Challenges
Challenges facing the following special groups: 1. Sex offenders There are generalizations on the sex
offender s treatment programs. Etiologically, sex offending varies considerably and offering the same
rehabilitation designs is not effective. While on parole, sex offenders face a lot of challenges like
loneliness, intimacy deficits, and challenges in emotional regulations (Paparozzi Guy, 2009). As
mentioned in the re entry process, there is victimization and loneliness that faces people who are
released from prison. As man is a social animal, isolation, victimization, and feeling of rejection bring
loneliness as the challenge. Meanwhile, there are intimacy deficits. Most of the parolees lack close
friends or intimate friends. Most of the

The History Of British Warfare
Warfare has been apart of British history for many centries. During the 1700 s, battles such as The
Battle of Quebec, The Battle of Yorktown, The Battle of Bunker Hill, and The Battle of Ticonderoga
helped show the strength and weakness of the British Army. During the 1800 s, battles such as The
Battle of Lake Erie, The Battle of Waterloo, and The Battle of Rorke s Drift helped demonstrate and
give examples of alliances, national pride, and victories. During the 1900s, battles such as The Battle
of Mons, The Battle of Britain, and The Battle of Singapore demonstrated positivity and defense.

Cornwallis couldn t help the British in anyway, and they were outnumbered. On October 19, 1781, the
British surrendered. The importance of this battle was that the surrender of the British was a main loss
for them. It ultimately ended The American War for Independence and solidifies their loss of control
over the colonies. Then, The Battle of Bunker Hill was a battle between the British and the Americans
on June 17, 1775. It took place in Charlestown, Massachusetts on Breed s Hill. William Prescott lead
American troops to the top of Bunker Hill where they dug trenches looking down upon the British
Naval force. The colonists shot through two fleets of British soldiers that tried to attack. There were
many accounts of the attack. ... our men reserved their fire till the enemy had advanced very near,
when a general engagement ensued; the fire from our lines was so excessive heavy, and made such a
terrible slaughter as obliged the enemy twice to give way.... (Burr). General William Howe lead the

chance to attack. After fierce hand to hand combat, the British ultimately succeeded, but had

Emotional Flexibility Module Analysis
Module 5 spoke of adaptive leaders and included many elements of adaptability. I found the
Emotional Flexibility concept to be the most important in the module. The concept describes one s
ability to consider their own emotions versus the emotions of others. I found emotional flexibility to
be very important because considering others emotions is key in successfully enforcing change.
Change is an exchange or give and take between the agents advocating for it, and the individuals
affected. Often times the change process is faced with many concerns and sometimes resistance due to
differences in opinions and emotions between the parties involved (leaders and followers). The
negative impact this concept would have on subordinates, peers, ... Show more content on

I will focus on active listening, while balancing when to be compassionate versus when to be firm. I
will encourage understanding the difference between empathy and sympathy, which will help us
identify how to quickly, and effectively help our people overcome negative emotions. Although we
should welcome the expression of negative feelings, we should not allow it to fester. Application of
this concept will cause subordinates to develop a higher sense of trust and loyalty to me as a leader. I
will have enabled open, effective discussions, when faced with opposing views from them. This in
turn will allow me to maneuver the unit s intent (change), while accounting for the airmen s concerns.
My peers will develop increased confidence in my competence, as they see how the application of the
concept is benefiting our airmen. This will also erase possible misunderstanding between my peers
and myself because they too, will see and feel that their emotions matter. The concept of emotional
flexibility is a great tool for productive interpersonal relationships. Hence, its application will further
develop and strengthen the relationships I have with my supervisors, enabling them to empower me to
be a change agent, or assume the role of an executor when various tasks

Peace in Yugoslavia From 1919 Until 1980 Essay
Peace in Yugoslavia From 1919 Until 1980
Peace in Yugoslavia meant unity. The country was a drawing together of different groups, which held
together from 1919 to the 1980. Before the First World War the Austria ruled the individual countries
of Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia as well as other countries such as Hungary as part of the Hapsburg
Empire. The other big empire was the Turkish Ottoman Empire. All the individual areas had different
ethnic groups and religions. The Croats were Roman Catholic, people living in Bosnia were mainly
Muslim, as were people living in Kosovo. Serbia was a separate independent country, ruled by its own
King. The Serb religion was Christian Orthodox.

King Peter ruled until his death in 1921, when his son, who became King Alexander I, replaced him.
King Alexander had a Government dominated by Serbs, which made all of the decisions. He refused
to listen to wishes of Slovenes and Croats and would not give them any say in decisions concerning
their regions. In 1929, Alexander changed the country s name from the Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats
and the Slovenes and dismissed parliament so he could run the country as a dictatorship. He used his
Serb dominated Secret Police to deal with protests in Croatia and Slovenia. Members of other ethnic
groups were angered by the Kings dictatorship (especially the Croats who wanted more control over
their regions). A Croat resistance movement (formed as a result of the removal of parliament)
murdered Alexander during a visit to France in on 9th October 1934. He had, however, been a strong
King, with definite ideas about how he had wanted to run the country. His dictatorship unpopular as it
had been with some groups, did help hold Yugoslavia together.
Following King Alexander s assassination, his brother Prince Paul ruled the country, on behalf of his
nephew, who was too young

Native Language And The Japanese Language
Belonging to the Japonic language family, the Japanese language exclusively belongs to the Japanese
people. Unlike languages such as English and Spanish, where their languages have been adopted by
other countries such as New Zealand and Mexico and therefore isn t just spoken in their home
countries of England and Spain. Japanese is a unique and distinct Asian language used only in Japan.
Japanese language is also a prime example for discourse analysis because it is a refined and complex
language. Discourse analysis studies the overall larger aspect of language and how the language flows
and connects. In some aspects of discourse analysis, it studies how the language is understood and
how the meaning of sentences is affected. Keigo (敬語) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

individualism is emphasized whilst in Asian cultures, the needs of the group are more important than
the individual and therefore emphasized more (Moore, 2002). So in reference

Description Of Body Dysmorphic Disorder
Body Dysmorphic Disorder Paige Herrell Northeast State Community College Body Dysmorphic
Disorder DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA Preoccupation with an imagined defect in appearance is one way
to possibly detect body dysmorphic disorder. If a slight physical anomaly is present, the person s
concern with the body part is extremely excessive. The preoccupation causes significant distress or
impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning. Repetitive behaviors may
occur; including mirror checking, excessive grooming, skin picking, reassurance seeking, clothes

Women are usually obsessed with their legs and breasts, while men are obsessed with muscle size and
genitals. Body dysmorphic disorder also shows up in other countries. BDD is a common disorder
among individuals seeking aesthetic surgery in Iran. In Brazil, prevalence of the disorder in
dermatologic patients was evaluated in a sample of 150 patients in a cosmetic group, 150 in a general
dermatology group, and 50 control subjects. Prevalence in the cosmetic group was 14%, compared
with 6.7% for the general group, and 2% for the control group. CAUSES Exact causes of the
condition have not been verified, though there are plenty theories that exist. Heredity may have a big
impact on the development of body dysmorphic disorder. Prevalence of the disorder is four times
higher in first degree relatives of individuals that already have the condition than in relatives that do
not have it. Brain anomalies may be important causes. Functional abnormalities in visual processing
and limbic systems have been documented. A study found disturbances in whole brain structural
topologic organization in subjects with body dysmorphic disorder. Another study investigating the
potential role of early life sexual, physical, or emotional abuse in the development of body
dysmorphic disorder found that subjects with the condition had more retrospective experiences of
sexual and physical abuse during childhood or adolescence

Police Searches
The Supreme Court and Police Searches The Supreme Court and Police Searches by the editorial
board for The New York Times is about the case being argued in front of the Supreme Court. The
Supreme Court of the United States needs to decide whether the evidence an officer obtained illegally
would be used in court or thrown out due to the exclusionary rule. The exclusionary rule states any
evidence illegally obtained can not be used against the wrongdoer. In the case being brought before
the Supreme Court, an officer was informed of drugs being sold out of someone s house and was
suspicious of the activity. The officer stopped, Edward Stieff, one of the men he saw leaving the house
and asked for identification. After the officer ran Edward s information he was informed of the
warrant currently on Edward. Then the officer conducted a search where he found drugs. The reason
the supreme court is involved is on the basis of did the officer have the right to stop Edward. The Utah

Boo Radley Theory
To Kill a Mockingbird is about a little girl named Jean Louise Finch, called Scout, and her brother,
Jeremy Finch, called Jem. A few houses down from theirs is the Radley s house. Throughout the story,
they try to lure Arthur Radley, sometimes referred to as Boo Radley, out of the house; he s always
inside. Some people are puzzled as to why Boo Radley doesn t prefer to come out of his house, and I
have a theory. This world is a cruel place, but few people realize that. Boo Radley, unlike most,
realized this about the world, and had no desire to have anything with it. He didn t approve of the
monsters people had become, so he stayed inside to stay away from the world. When Boo Radley was
a teenager, he joined a group that was the closest to a gang ever in Maycomb. Once, he caused

again. When they returned to the house, Boo wasn t heard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mr. Ewell was cruel, it was similar to killing a mockingbird, which in the story is considered a sin
because they don t do anything to you. So in the end he paid for his sin by dying. But this incident

What Challenges Does Thomas Schmall Face Upon Becoming CEO...
1) What challenges does Thomas Schmall face upon becoming CEO of Volkswagen do Brasil
(VWB)?
Thomas Schmall was familiar with VWB before becoming CEO. This was before he started working
in Europe. Through his previous experience at VWB he adapted quickly to the culture of the company,
strategy and the attitude in Brazil. Before we start reviewing the challenges Schmall faced as CEO, we
need to know why he didn t do something about the problems while he was working there. If VWB
had done something about the problems, they would have saved a lot of money. But VWB went
through 8 years of losses, lost market share enormously, changed the company into a slow moving one
and they created an environment of anxiety and imbalance among their employees.
Thomas had to deal internal and external problems. Before explaining the internal problems, I will

However, the rapid growth of the Internet has introduced a completely new level of security related
problems
(1) Technology and Security issues (2) Legal issues and (3) Regulatory and Supervisory issues
The problem here is that since theOne would think that the main purpose for a bank besides managing
one s money would be giving good customer service. Excellence in customer service is the most
important tool for sustained business growth. Customer complaints are part of the business life of any
corporate entity. This is more so for banks because banks are service organizations. As a service
organization, customer service and customer satisfaction should be the prime concern of any bank.
Banks believe that by providing prompt and efficient service on to their customers, this is essential not
only to attract new customers, but also to retain existing ones because customer dissatisfaction would
spoil the bank s name and image. To provide this kind of service more fast and efficient, the major
weapon of bank is e banking.

Technology In The Cold War Essay
Technologies of the Cold War Technologies played an important role in our lives before and right now.
The development of the science and technology promoted the progress of the society. The wide spread
of using electricity boosted economy around the world; the invention of the telephone made people s
communication become easier; airplanes make people travel longer distances in shorter times. As
same as other time period in the history, during the Cold War, the great inventors from different
countries invented better weapons and things to make their country win the war. Those new weapons
and technologies changed the strategies used by the commanders, the way the soldiers fight, and the
form of the war. Technologies certainly affect the war.
The Cold War period was a time that a lot of countries needed to develop their science and technology.
They needed new weapons to win the war, and their commanders could not confine themselves with
those old tactics that were already known by their enemies. In order to win, lots of changes were made
and they affected not just the arms race and the space race, but also research in agriculture,
biomedicine, computer science, ecology, meteorology, and other fields. Many people find that ... Show

The Family Of Man Exhibition
Curated by Edward Steichen and first shown in 1955, The Family of Man Exhibition is claimed to be
the most powerful and greatest photographic exhibition of all time. This said to be culmination of his
career brings forward an overall idea or theme of unity and relation among all globally. The exhibition
s layout and works all display people rendering or displaying recognizable actions, as a result, having
a great impact on the many people who have viewed the show. Two photographs in particular from
this collection are shown to have a strong similarity to many. Both photos China. by Eastfoto and
Turkey. by Herman Kreider. Black Star Agency1 display people carrying out the function of voting.
Both these photos fall under the photo essay genre and originate from different places and different
times. This comparison reveals Steichen s view on politics as abstract and universalized, helping bring
us together by showing us that we are not that different from others who may be far away. They help
us communicate and connect to one another, once again displaying this idea of one universal medium.
In his exhibition, Steichen displays the common themes of life through photos from around the world.
Despite culture or background, this exhibition s goal was to use photography as a medium of universal
language. Furthermore showing that despite these barriers mankind shares common themes; the need
for love, shelter, food and so forth. The Family of Man Exhibition layout and

Essay Dimensional Fund Advisors Case
Dimensional Fund Advisors Case 1. Describe the investment strategy employed by DFA. Does DFA
consider itself an active or passive manager? What aspects of its strategy are active? What aspects are
passive?
DFA s investment strategy was centered on academic research, specifically on the findings of Banz
size effect and Fama and French s book to market effect. In Banz research, he found that small stocks
consistently outperformed large stocks over the entire history of the stock market from 1926 through
the late 1970s. See Exhibit 1 for overview of growth between large and small cap stocks.
In the Fama amp; French paper, they found that: 1) stocks with high beta did not have consistently

DFA s founders believed in two principals (outside of efficient markets): the value of sound academic
research, and the ability of skilled traders to contribute to a fund s profits even when the investment
was inherently passive. By working closely with the academic world, DFA is able to exploit
opportunities generated from academic research before others are able to; this creates opportunities for
short and long term excess return. Also, working in stocks that other mutual funds do not participate
(micro, small cap) allows DFA to exploit opportunities in otherwise illiquid stocks. By having a large
presence in this market, the company is able to take advantage of trading opportunities with
counterparts (liquidity discounts from block purchases).
5. What level of market efficiency does DFA accept? Why this level and not any other?
DFA accepts the semi strong form efficiency of the market. DFA feels that on average the market price
correctly incorporates all public information. Its concern is merely that there is no negative private
information known to the seller but not to the market. If DFA did not have concern of negative
information known by the seller and not the market, the strong form of efficiency would be
appropriate (this version of the efficient market hypothesis is quite extreme).

Five Modest Proposals
God has been believed to be that being which is all good, all knowing, and all powerful. St. Thomas
Aquinas in, The Five Ways Question II, Third Article, responds to two specific objections which aim
to prove God s nonexistence. The first objection rests upon the notion that if one of two contradictions
are infinite, the other cannot possibly exist. That is to say, if God does exist, there would be no evil in
the world because God is believed to be infinitely good. If he were all good, all knowing, and all
powerful, he would be more than capable of creating and maintaining a world in which no evil exists.
However, events such as the Holocaust, Hurricane Katrina, and childhood cancer prove quite easily
that evil does, in fact, exist in the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thomas Aquinas attempts to refute these two objections with the hope of proving the existence of
God. Aquinas s first two arguments, the argument from motion and the argument from causation, are
quite similar and understanding one will mean that understanding the other becomes much easier.
Attempting to prove God s existence, Aquinas begins the second argument highlighting how In the
world of sensible things we find there is an order of efficient causes (711). Simply stated, we perceive
a series of efficient causes and effects in the world. This means that with every effect, there must have
been a cause before that, and something which caused that cause, and so on. Further, Aquinas states
There is no case known (neither is it, indeed, possible) in which a thing is found to be the efficient
cause of itself; for so it would be prior to itself, which is impossible , showing here how nothing can
be the cause of itself (711). Imagine a line of dominoes, for example, one cannot cause itself fall on its
own. Rather, it needs to be acted upon by a prior force. Every event must have a cause, however, that
cause cannot be itself. For if something were to be the cause of itself, it would need to, Aquinas says,
impossibly exist prior to its own

Last Flight by Amelia Earhart
February 9, 2017
For so much of our history as a people, we are often reminded of the many successful men that
accomplished things to make this world a better place. We are reminded about their long, devastating
journey to reach their goals and maintain their prosperity; however, not once do we hear of their wives
or female siblings. In the early 1900 s it was still presumed that this was the role of the man. A woman
from Kansas, however, rose beyond the clouds of prejudice her name Amelia Earhart. Determined and
hard working, this woman set on surpassing the limits previously placed on women, and in her book,
Last Flight, Amelia Earhart fought the many odds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On April 8, 1931, she set the altitude record by flying 18,415 feet. On January 11, 1935, she became
the first person to fly across the Pacific from Honolulu to Oakland (Earhart 89 93). All this was done
during a time and place where people lossed their jobs, and the economy was bad. Unemployment rate
almost tripled between 1930 and 1933 as it jumped from 8.9 percent to 24.9 percent. Americans relied
on Earhart s successes as national achievements and viewed them as encouragement through all of the
unrest of the great depression. It was a signal that while America s economy was still weakening, the
country s spirit to accomplish was still strong. It was also a symbol that the American dream was still
active and that, at least in some way, those who worked hard would be compensated. Her
accomplishments proved to the world that women were equal, and lifted America to the center stage of
civil rights.
In conclusion, the book Last Flight, by Amelia Earhart, portrayed a critical moment in American
History; traditional viewpoints were challenged, aviation became ingrained in the American culture,
and women became major players in the American Dream. Amelia Earhart s accomplishments have
jarring similarities to Valentina Tereshkova the first woman in space, orbiting the earth forty eight

Death with dignity Essay
Dying With Dignity
On Tuesday, March 24, an elderly Oregon woman, acting with the aid of a doctor, dosed herself with
potent chemicals and died. The woman had lived with breast cancer for more than 20 years. By all
accounts her final hours were private and peaceful, as she became one of the first people in American
history to end her life lawfully with the aid of a physician (Oregonian A1).
She was able to end her life peacefully due to controversial legislation passed in her state. The Death
with Dignity Act was passed by the state of Oregon in 1994. It allows physicians to prescribe a lethal
dose of medication so that a terminally ill patient can end his or her life. The requirements set forth by

provision. It neither exceeds the Attorney General s statutory authority under the Controlled
Substances Act (The Federal Register 12). Therefore, this action would be detrimental to all those who
do not choose to wait for death. In November of 2004 Ashcroft appealed to the Supreme Court and
they will hear the case later this year. It is likely the Supreme Court will interpret the regulations in
accordance with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals but if it fails to do so Oregon will be forced to repeal
the statute.
This law has brought peace to 171 terminally ill and suffering individuals in a very painless and
humane manner. Only 3 of the 43 patients experienced complications in 2003. The only complications
reported in these 3 cases were vomiting. One half of all patients became unconscious within four
minutes of ingesting the lethal medication and all died within 20 minutes. The range of time from
ingestion to death was five minutes to 48 hours (Sixth Annual Report T3.9).
Physician assisted suicide accomplishes much more than ending suffering before death. The right is of
the individual and should be respected by our government. It is a fundamental freedom that we all
should have. It allows a person to die with dignity and prevents the illness from killing them before
they die. The Death with Dignity Act is very similar to other forms of euthanasia

Immanuel Kant Deontology
Deontology
The decisions of deontology may be appropriate for an individual but does not necessarily produce a
good outcome for society. Deontology (also known as nonconsequential), by contrast, is dependent on
moral laws, duties, rules and intuitions and centers on the principles of 18th century philosopher
Immanuel Kant. These moral laws and duties declare that actions such as lying, murdering and
breaking promises are fundamentally wrong and we have no duty to partake in these actions. (CRI)
This moral theory stems from the Greek works deon and logos , which mean the study of duty.
Deontology states that an action s morality holds great value, and therefore the result of a wrong
action does not make it s outcome ethical. In other words,

Language And Its Effects On The Formation Of Relative Clauses
INTRODUCTION
Kiswahili is one of the best documented and most studied African languages and much work has been
done in analyzing various aspects of the language. However, one area which has thus far been not
enough explored is that of the syntactic elements of the relative clause. To this end, the paper will
focus on by providing a detailed (though not exhaustive) analysis of relative clauses without
attempting to grapple with morphology. This is done deliberately so that time is not wasted on
restating too much previous research as morphology in Kiswahili is already a well researched area.
Moreover, Swahili syntax is deceptively simple and can cause one to imagine that it is of no
importance. In a language as highly agglutinative as Swahili, it seems that morphology is all that is
needed to appreciate the language, however, syntax, as will be shown, does have some powerful
implications in the formation of relative clauses.
The morphosyntactic glosses provided will follow the Leipzig glossing convention throughout. Given
the nature of this research, original data has not been collected, as opposed to the previous study of the
NP structure, and all of the examples have been taken from secondary sources namely: Zwart (1997),
Lippss (2011), and Ngonyani (2001).
Before dealing with relative clause syntax, outlining a few general features of Kiswahili and having an
idea of what a simple sentence can be in Kiswahili seems to be useful.
The basic declarative sentence structure in

Why Spanking Is Wrong
Sitting back and watching the destruction of our youth is very disconcerting. We need to take back our
youth from the streets, clubs, and gangs. There has been a sort of disconnect with the way youths are
being raised because, parents can no longer spank their kids when they do wrong. Society has decided
that spanking was too harsh and that parents needed to find other ways to discipline their children.
Spanking is a type of corporal punishment that is commonly used to discipline children. Without
producing any physical injury, the parent will normally strike the child s bottom with their open hand,
belt, or a switch (which is normally a tiny off a tree) for inappropriate behavior.
The argument over whether a child should be spank or not has ... Show more content on

If a child gets a spanking he will view it as violence to get what he wants but thinks the parents
condones violence because he received a spanking. When that is not the case, most children that
receives a spanking knows what they did was wrong and they should not do those things again.
Spanking is not a form of violence but a form of discipline that helps parents keep their children in
line. Those parents that believes in spanking, most comes from a Christian background. It is widely
believed the God commands them to spank for the wrongdoing. The Christians knows in the Bible it
says in Proverbs 19:18 Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying .
So, therefore they have no problems spanking the children for their misdeeds. The parents who does
not believe in spanking, thinks that other forms of punishment such as time out is effective. Contrary
to popular believe, that may work for some but not all. There has to be a middle ground somewhere.
Some parents thinks that giving a child stern talk will also help. There has not been proof that it

Photography Is The Human Experience
It is truly amazing to see how far photography has come. With practical cameras only being 1800s
when they were extremely large to now where everyone has one in their pocket as part of their phone.
To make it even more incredible photos taken now can be shared across the world in the matter of
seconds with the simple push of a button. There are even social media applications dedicated to only
sharing pictures as a quick glimpse into your life. However, what is truly incredible about a picture is
the emotions it can evoke, and the change that it can start.
Photography can do so many things for human lives as well as the human experience. To start,
photography can force us to act. Every day, millions of people across the world hope to make an
impact. They want to help those who need it, these unsung heroes strive to improve the lives of those
in need. How can they spread their message or their cause to those who have no idea it exist? They
could go to the news and tell the story of what they are trying to do, and get help for those in need. But
to truly make an impact, they can share a picture. This picture makes the plight of those in need real.
You can see the suffering on their faces, the desolate surroundings, and the help they truly do need.
Pictures bring to light what we may not see, or may never hear of.
Another major influence of photography is how it allows us to document events and influences how
we perceive things. When you look at some of the most influential

Yellowtone National Park Case Study
Throughout the past few decades, Yellowstone National Park has undergone several amounts of
environmental changes for both the positive and the negative. The YNP has mainly had population
increases throughout the time period of 1994 2010 in areas of study such as riparian vegetation,
ungulates and also other animals. Although the decline of elk and coyotes may prove otherwise, there
is enough data to support that the majority of species in the YNP are rapidly growing. Throughout this
case study, I noticed how each species played an important role in the overall ecosystem of
Yellowstone, proving that all species are intradependant. To begin, Yellowstone does have obvious
trophic levels represented in all the species we observed in the study. For example, the riparian
vegetation (such as the willow, young aspen, and young cottonwood and others) would be the
producers, the graph which represented other animals such as fish are considered to be the primary
consumers. The ungulates (such as moose, elk, bison, deer etc) who feed on both producers and
primary consumers are considered to be the secondary consumers. The coyotes, foxes, wolves, and
bears are considered to be the tertiary consumers. Lastly, the flies and beetles are considered the
decomposers since they end up feeding on the dead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The density independent factor of the floodplain would be that flooding can occur. The reason it is

ecosystem based on the floodplain is resilient or unable to be affected by the flooding. As this location

Regardless whether they are house pets or strays, animals provide a kinship by keeping humans in

although they are not typically categorized as such. And in these urban areas insects, rodents and

Racial inequality through the eyes of Langston Hughes
According to Biography, James Mercer Langston Hughes is considered to be an African American
poet who is college educated and comes from a middle class family (Langston Hughes Biography). He
attended college in New York City and became influential during the Harlem Renaissance (Langston
Hughes Biography). Although Hughes was a talented writer, he faced some challenges early on and it
was stated that his early work was roundly criticized by many black intellectuals for portraying what
they thought to be an unattractive view of black life (Langston Hughes. American Poet). They
believed that his work helps the spread the stereotypes of African Americans. Hughes, more than any
other black poet or writer, recorded faithfully the nuances of black life and its frustrations (Langston
Hughes. American Poet). Langston Hughes s poems The Negro Mother , Let America be America
Again and The Weary Blues were influenced by his life during the Harlem Renaissance and the racial
inequality experienced in the late 1920s through the 1960s.

The Negative Impacts Of Social Media And Its Impact On...
In today s era, everyone is utilizing technology tools in everyday tasks. People in general depend on
technology tools and sites to accomplish their specific tasks in their lives. Nowadays, we have
different types of technologies which impact our daily life in different ways. Unlike the past,
individuals were limited to writing letters and waiting for responds to be delivered from one of the
post offices or services. There has been a shift in the way we share or exchange information, news,
and ideas with each other. Several years ago, human used to connect face to face. Whereas, people
now frequently prefer computer mediated communications. Now, societies are becoming more social
and interactive with others compared to the past years, but the way or the style of that communication
has changed significantly. Despite the fact that technology has several positive impacts, there are three
key issues regarding the role of social media that plays a major part in our communication patterns
between individuals. The first negative consequence of social media is the lack of privacy and
security. When people communicate through social media, messages tend to be more wide open.
Therefore, there are many negative consequences that are associated with the use of open networking
sites. As a consequent of using them in all areas, it increases the risk of hackers when they get into
personal accounts. This might cause a big problem, especially when it comes to spread important
information. Moreover, they might increase the risk of identity theft, cyberbullying within social
media, and a high rate of crimes because of spreading or sending messages or images in order to scare
people and danger them. Open access to online messages and share files or documents can lead to
huge privacy and security issues in our daily life. To conclude, privacy and personal security issues are
the results of using open networking sites all the time. Making superficial relationships is the second
key issue of modern technology on society. Even though social media is strongly connected to our
social relationships, it is effecting our relationships negatively. We can see in

The Internal Business Process Must Align With The New...
The internal business process must align with the new mission and vision. It will take time for
consumer trust to be regained, and because of this, internal processes must be at the forefront of the
changes. Eliminating sales goals for the long term is a necessary step in aligning the internal business
processes with the new mission and vision. Strengthening the company s ethics and integrity program
should be a top priority within internal processes. Standards throughout the company need to be
enhanced to ensure the team members do not fear retaliation for raising concerns about unethical
practices. Tightening standards to protect these team members include corrective action including
termination due to retaliatory behavior. Continual monitoring of this process will lie in the hands of
senior management and these executives need to respond in a timely and confidential manner.
Creating additional training, communications, and resources to help team members understand their
responsibilities and roles in the new policies need to be addressed in an ongoing process. With the new
internal business processes, it is important to constantly learn and grow from the findings. Rebuilding

Questions On The Theoretical Lens
Jesus F. Garcia 6/15/2015 Midterm Question 1 Part A Theoretical lens refers to a set of assumptions
made, that are composed of factors such as past experiences, cultural background, and religion. This
concept can be problematic when a society attempts to assume the way things will be and turn out to
be unexpected. Dennis Phillips explains, people often learn to understand things based on the set of
theories and belies with which they were raised. (Seminar 1, June 1) In child development, theoretical
lens of developing countries can ultimately hurt the way a society views the progress of its future
generations. Additionally, outcomes that are outside of the theoretical lens are often rejected, which
can cause distress to those individuals who are not conforming to these expectations. Different
countries have different assumptions about how the world works and the role that each individual
plays in it. These individuals, such as children, across the globe have different expectations from
society based on the region s theoretical lens. For example the main issues facing young people in
India will be the school versus work, the tradition of early arranged marriages, the caste system, and
the rights of women. (Gielen, 2004) The expectations of Indian culture are completely different from
those found in the United States for young people. The culture difference is key in how new
generations will develop in accordance to societies expectations. A young person in

Introduction to Evolution
Introduction To Evolution
What is Evolution? Evolution is the process by which all living things have developed from primitive
organisms through changes occurring over billions of years, a process that includes all animals and
plants. Exactly how evolution occurs is still a matter of debate, but there are many different theories
and that it occurs is a scientific fact. Biologists agree that all living things come through a long history
of changes shaped by physical and chemical processes that are still taking place. It is possible that all
organisms can be traced back to the origin of Life from one celled organims.
The most direct proof of evolution is the science of Paleontology, or the study of life in the past

He presented his discovery along with another English naturalist, Alfred Russel Wallace, who
independently discovered natural selection at about the same time. The following year Darwin
published his full theory, supported with enormous evidence, in On the Origin of Species.
Genetics
The contribution of genetics to the understanding of evolution has been the explanation of the
inheritance in individuals of the same species.
Gregor Mendel discovered the basic principles of inheritance in 1865, but his work was unknown to
Darwin. Mendel s work was rediscovered by other scientists around 1900. From that time to 1925 the
science of genetics developed rapidly, and many of Darwin s ideas about the inheritance of variations
were found to be incorrect. Only since 1925 has natural selection again been recognized as essential in
evolution. The modern theory of evolution combines the findings of modern genetics with the basic
framework supplied by Darwin and Wallace, creating the basic principle of Population Genetics.
Modern population genetics was developed largely during the 1930s and 40s by the mathematicians J.
B. S.
Haldane and R. A. Fisher and by the biologists Theodosius Dobzhansky , Julian
Huxley, Ernst Mayr, George Gaylord SIMPSON, Sewall Wright, Berhard Rensch, and G.
Ledyard Stebbins. According to the theory, variability among

Columbine And Misconceptions
Columbine by Dave Cullen tells the events that unfolded on April 20th, 1999. That day, two boys, self
proclaimed rebels, armed themselves and proceeded to murder the same students they had walked the
halls with for four years. As the stories of Dylan, Eric, and the victims of this tragic day came to light,
many falsehoods also arose. Unfortunately, the myths and truths about Columbine still linger with us
today. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold left a lasting impression on the world; but left behind the truth as
to why they really did it. This leaves us to wonder what really happened on that fateful day.
Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold changed the way schools handle threat precautions. The secrets they
left us; the boys being outcasts, bullies, and the trench coat mafia, leave us with a horrible tragedy to
deal with. Which are just some of the proven myths in the shooting of Columbine.
The first myth about Columbine is that Eric and Dylan were outcasts. In fact, they boys acted like
normal people. They attended school events and talked to people like normal human beings. They
blended in with the rest of the school, which didn t strike an alarm that soon enough these boys would
be a part of a terrible shooting. Although people were wrong about the boys being outcasts, they were
right that something was wrong in their head. Unfortunately, they spotted this too late, Eric and Dylan
thought they were better than everyone else. While the rest of the world thought they were a little

The Problem Of Using Microstrip Patch Antenna Has...
2.6.2 Radiation Pattern
Microstrip Patch Antenna has radiation patterns that can be simply calculated. The source of the
radiation of the electric field at the gap of the edge of the Microstrip element and the ground plane is
main factor to the accurate calculation of the pattern for the patch antenna.
Simply it can be said that the power radiated or received by the antenna is the function of angular
position and radial distribution from the antenna [24]. In the fig.24 [9] below we can see the side view
of the rectangular Microstrip element associated with source, and also the radiating of E fields.
The radiation pattern of a common dimensional antenna can be seen below, which has side lobe, black
lobes which are undesirable as they represent the energy that is wasted for transmitting Antennas and
noise sources at the receiving end.
2.6.3 Gain Directivity
The gain of the antenna defines the performance of the antenna or the capability to concentrate energy
through a direction which give a better picture of the radiation pattern. It is expressed in dB, in a
simple way we can say that this refers to the direction of the maximum radiation [24].
The expression for the maximum gain of an antenna is as follows:
G=ηxD Eq. (2.29)
η The efficiency of the antenna.
D Directivity.
In order to receive or transmit the power it can be chosen to maximize

Tourism And Its Effects On Tourism Essay
1. Introduction:
In today s world, tourism has become one of the key factors of many countries, which contributes
significantly not only to the countries economies, but it also helps resolving lots of problems such as
employment. According to the World Tourism Organization (WTO), n.d., tourism consists of activities
of people travelling and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than one year
for leisure, business, and other purposes. Nevertheless, in order to stay overseas for a period of time,
travelers have to use the currency of the country that they are staying by exchanging with their own
currency. Business Dictionary (n.d.) defines exchange rate among the currencies as the prices, which
is influenced by the interest rates, inflation rate, political stability, and so on. However, the currency
exchange rates among countries are changing every day. Consequently, tourism will be affected by the
fluctuations, and it is believed that they do have both negative and positive effects on tourism. In this
report, the researcher will investigate the following question, How do USD NZD exchange rate
fluctuations influence New Zealand s tourism patterns? in order to provide insights for the New
Zealand tourism industry as well as travelers.
Research questions:
What is the current situation of NZ s tourism?
What are the effects exchange rate fluctuations have on tourism?
What are the influences that USD NZD exchange rate fluctuations have on NZ s

This incident marked the 307th mass shooting in 2017 and it was the largest mass shooting in Texas. The mass murderer of this event was Devin Patrick Kelley, who was 26 years old. Kelley began shooting at the church early Sunday morning. On Sunday, the church was having its morning service at 11 a.m. and the shooting began shortly after. Kelley was armed with two weapons, a rifle and a handgun. One of the weapons Kelley was armed with was a Ruger military style rifle (Montgomery, Mele, Fernandez, 2017). Immediately following the shooting, an armed bystander shot Kelley and wounded him. Kelley dropped his Ruger AR rifle, and was able to get in his car. Kelley was able to flee in his vehicle, but was later found dead after running his car off of the road. Later, an autopsy showed Kelley had three gunshot wounds. One was in the leg, one in the torso, and one in the head which was self inflicted. The first social psychology theory that may explain this event is copycat violence. • 3. For most NFL players, their salary is their biggest form... For most NFL players, their salary is their biggest form of compensation. As part of the collective bargaining agreement, the NFLPA implements something called a salary cap. A salary cap is a limit on how much a team can spend on a particular player s salary or on a team s entire salary. Salary, according to the agreement, is money, property, investments, loans, and anything else of value to an NFL player (both rookies, veterans, and players with terminated contracts) but not including benefits (CBA). It also can cover any payments made by third parties or club affiliates even if the money is for non football services A player s base salary is the money earned while playing during the regular NFL season. The collective bargaining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This encourages a team to make deciding choices early on, and reduces the risk that a team will keep a player and then cut him in favor of a new. A roster bonus deals with being on active roster during games. If a player does not suit up , then they are not paid. These bonuses can vary by team. A roster bonus in season is advantageous to a salary cap because it is dependent on what the player did the year prior. If a player did not play much the year before, then the amount calculated for the salary cap is less. If the player plays more in the future year than the past year, then the additional salary is calculated later on in the season, instead of during the free agency period. This leaves more money free at the beginning of the season. Another type of bonus that is accounted in the salary cap is the bonus for offseason workouts. Mandatory participation cannot be required, so teams offer large bonuses for players who participate regularly. If the players participate for a certain amount, then they can receive the bonus. At the start of the 2013 league year, the NFL implemented a cap fee of $504,000 for minimum workouts in addition to the contracted bonuses. This means that $504,000 would be subtracted from the team salary cap. If the players do not earn the total of this amount due to nonparticipation, then each team will receive a ... Summary OfThe Birth-Mark By Nathanial Hawthorne The societal standards of human beauty and perfection, and the dangers that come with exploratory science and knowledge can be destructive to the human mind and possibly harmful to the human body as well. The Birth Mark , written by Nathanial Hawthorne in 1843, is the story of scientist, Aylmer, and his obsession over human perfection; specifically, his sentiments on the red, hand shaped birthmark on his wife, Georgiana s, left cheek. This passage, found more so near the beginning of the story, describes a dream Aylmer had of performing an unsuccessful operation on Georgiana s birthmark. Though he was unable to cut the flaw out of her skin, it did not stop him from wanting to cut deeper into her skin, despite the grasp the Hand had on her heart. The passage functions to foreshadow Georgiana s fate while demonstrating Aylmer s passion and dedication for science and personifying the Hand s connection with Georgiana. While presenting oneself well and knowledge are typically seen as useful characteristics, Hawthorne reminds his readers that flaws are a necessity aspect of human nature that can not and should not be scientifically managed. Aylmer s dream describes a procedure and result in which the reader anticipates will occur at the end of the story, creating suspense of Georgiana s outcome and highlighting the relationship between Aylmer and Georgiana as well. What aspects of its strategy are active? What aspects are passive? DFA s investment strategy was centered on academic research, specifically on the findings of Banz size effect and Fama and French s book to market effect. In Banz research, he found that small stocks consistently outperformed large stocks over the entire history of the stock market from 1926 through the late 1970s. DFA s founders believed in two principals (outside of efficient markets): the value of sound academic research, and the ability of skilled traders to contribute to a fund s profits even when the investment was inherently passive. By working closely with the academic world, DFA is able to exploit opportunities generated from academic research before others are able to; this creates opportunities for short and long term excess return. Also, working in stocks that other mutual funds do not participate (micro, small cap) allows DFA to exploit opportunities in otherwise illiquid stocks. By having a large presence in this market, the company is able to take advantage of trading opportunities with counterparts (liquidity discounts from block purchases). 5. What level of market efficiency does DFA accept? Why this level and not any other? DFA accepts the semi strong form efficiency of the market. DFA feels that on average the market price correctly incorporates all public information. Its concern is merely that there is no negative private information known to the seller but not to the market. If DFA did not have concern of negative information known by the seller and not the market, the strong form of efficiency would be appropriate (this version of the efficient market hypothesis is quite extreme). • 25. Five Modest Proposals God has been believed to be that being which is all good, all knowing, and all powerful. St. Thomas Aquinas in, The Five Ways Question II, Third Article, responds to two specific objections which aim to prove God s nonexistence. The first objection rests upon the notion that if one of two contradictions are infinite, the other cannot possibly exist. That is to say, if God does exist, there would be no evil in the world because God is believed to be infinitely good. If he were all good, all knowing, and all powerful, he would be more than capable of creating and maintaining a world in which no evil exists. However, events such as the Holocaust, Hurricane Katrina, and childhood cancer prove quite easily that evil does, in fact, exist in the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thomas Aquinas attempts to refute these two objections with the hope of proving the existence of God. Aquinas s first two arguments, the argument from motion and the argument from causation, are quite similar and understanding one will mean that understanding the other becomes much easier. Attempting to prove God s existence, Aquinas begins the second argument highlighting how In the world of sensible things we find there is an order of efficient causes (711). Simply stated, we perceive a series of efficient causes and effects in the world. This means that with every effect, there must have been a cause before that, and something which caused that cause, and so on. Further, Aquinas states There is no case known (neither is it, indeed, possible) in which a thing is found to be the efficient cause of itself; for so it would be prior to itself, which is impossible , showing here how nothing can be the cause of itself (711). Imagine a line of dominoes, for example, one cannot cause itself fall on its own. Rather, it needs to be acted upon by a prior force. Every event must have a cause, however, that cause cannot be itself. For if something were to be the cause of itself, it would need to, Aquinas says, impossibly exist prior to its own ... Thesis Of Last Flight By Amelia Earhart Ibrahim Albaba Mrs. Seeger APUSH || Period 1 Last Flight by Amelia Earhart February 9, 2017 For so much of our history as a people, we are often reminded of the many successful men that accomplished things to make this world a better place. We are reminded about their long, devastating journey to reach their goals and maintain their prosperity; however, not once do we hear of their wives or female siblings. In the early 1900 s it was still presumed that this was the role of the man. A woman from Kansas, however, rose beyond the clouds of prejudice her name Amelia Earhart. Determined and hard working, this woman set on surpassing the limits previously placed on women, and in her book, Last Flight, Amelia Earhart fought the many odds ... On January 11, 1935, she became the first person to fly across the Pacific from Honolulu to Oakland (Earhart 89 93). All this was done during a time and place where people lossed their jobs, and the economy was bad. Unemployment rate almost tripled between 1930 and 1933 as it jumped from 8.9 percent to 24.9 percent. Americans relied on Earhart s successes as national achievements and viewed them as encouragement through all of the unrest of the great depression. It was a signal that while America s economy was still weakening, the country s spirit to accomplish was still strong. It was also a symbol that the American dream was still active and that, at least in some way, those who worked hard would be compensated. Her accomplishments proved to the world that women were equal, and lifted America to the center stage of civil rights. In conclusion, the book Last Flight, by Amelia Earhart, portrayed a critical moment in American History; traditional viewpoints were challenged, aviation became ingrained in the American culture, and women became major players in the American Dream. These moral laws and duties declare that actions such as lying, murdering and breaking promises are fundamentally wrong and we have no duty to partake in these actions. • 30. Language And Its Effects On The Formation Of Relative Clauses INTRODUCTION Kiswahili is one of the best documented and most studied African languages and much work has been done in analyzing various aspects of the language. However, one area which has thus far been not enough explored is that of the syntactic elements of the relative clause. To this end, the paper will focus on by providing a detailed (though not exhaustive) analysis of relative clauses without attempting to grapple with morphology. This is done deliberately so that time is not wasted on restating too much previous research as morphology in Kiswahili is already a well researched area. Moreover, Swahili syntax is deceptively simple and can cause one to imagine that it is of no importance. In a language as highly agglutinative as Swahili, it seems that morphology is all that is needed to appreciate the language, however, syntax, as will be shown, does have some powerful implications in the formation of relative clauses. The morphosyntactic glosses provided will follow the Leipzig glossing convention throughout. Given the nature of this research, original data has not been collected, as opposed to the previous study of the NP structure, and all of the examples have been taken from secondary sources namely: Zwart (1997), Lippss (2011), and Ngonyani (2001). Before dealing with relative clause syntax, outlining a few general features of Kiswahili and having an idea of what a simple sentence can be in Kiswahili seems to be useful. Spanking is a type of corporal punishment that is commonly used to discipline children. Although the decline of elk and coyotes may prove otherwise, there is enough data to support that the majority of species in the YNP are rapidly growing. Throughout this case study, I noticed how each species played an important role in the overall ecosystem of Yellowstone, proving that all species are intradependant. • 44. Questions On The Theoretical Lens Jesus F. Garcia 6/15/2015 Midterm Question 1 Part A Theoretical lens refers to a set of assumptions made, that are composed of factors such as past experiences, cultural background, and religion. This concept can be problematic when a society attempts to assume the way things will be and turn out to be unexpected. Dennis Phillips explains, people often learn to understand things based on the set of theories and belies with which they were raised. (Seminar 1, June 1) In child development, theoretical lens of developing countries can ultimately hurt the way a society views the progress of its future generations. Additionally, outcomes that are outside of the theoretical lens are often rejected, which can cause distress to those individuals who are not conforming to these expectations. Different countries have different assumptions about how the world works and the role that each individual plays in it. These individuals, such as children, across the globe have different expectations from society based on the region s theoretical lens. For example the main issues facing young people in India will be the school versus work, the tradition of early arranged marriages, the caste system, and the rights of women. (Gielen, 2004) The expectations of Indian culture are completely different from those found in the United States for young people. The culture difference is key in how new generations will develop in accordance to societies expectations. A young person in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Introduction to Evolution Introduction To Evolution What is Evolution? Evolution is the process by which all living things have developed from primitive organisms through changes occurring over billions of years, a process that includes all animals and plants. Exactly how evolution occurs is still a matter of debate, but there are many different theories and that it occurs is a scientific fact. Biologists agree that all living things come through a long history of changes shaped by physical and chemical processes that are still taking place. It is possible that all organisms can be traced back to the origin of Life from one celled organims. The most direct proof of evolution is the science of Paleontology, or the study of life in the past through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He presented his discovery along with another English naturalist, Alfred Russel Wallace, who independently discovered natural selection at about the same time. The following year Darwin published his full theory, supported with enormous evidence, in On the Origin of Species. Genetics The contribution of genetics to the understanding of evolution has been the explanation of the inheritance in individuals of the same species. Gregor Mendel discovered the basic principles of inheritance in 1865, but his work was unknown to Darwin. Mendel s work was rediscovered by other scientists around 1900. From that time to 1925 the science of genetics developed rapidly, and many of Darwin s ideas about the inheritance of variations were found to be incorrect. Only since 1925 has natural selection again been recognized as essential in evolution. The modern theory of evolution combines the findings of modern genetics with the basic framework supplied by Darwin and Wallace, creating the basic principle of Population Genetics. Modern population genetics was developed largely during the 1930s and 40s by the mathematicians J. B. S. Haldane and R. A. Fisher and by the biologists Theodosius Dobzhansky , Julian Huxley, Ernst Mayr, George Gaylord SIMPSON, Sewall Wright, Berhard Rensch, and G. Ledyard Stebbins. According to the theory, variability among ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Columbine And Misconceptions Columbine by Dave Cullen tells the events that unfolded on April 20th, 1999. That day, two boys, self proclaimed rebels, armed themselves and proceeded to murder the same students they had walked the halls with for four years. As the stories of Dylan, Eric, and the victims of this tragic day came to light, many falsehoods also arose. Unfortunately, the myths and truths about Columbine still linger with us today. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold left a lasting impression on the world; but left behind the truth as to why they really did it. This leaves us to wonder what really happened on that fateful day. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold changed the way schools handle threat precautions. The secrets they left us; the boys being outcasts, bullies, and the trench coat mafia, leave us with a horrible tragedy to deal with. Which are just some of the proven myths in the shooting of Columbine. The first myth about Columbine is that Eric and Dylan were outcasts. In fact, they boys acted like normal people. They attended school events and talked to people like normal human beings. They blended in with the rest of the school, which didn t strike an alarm that soon enough these boys would be a part of a terrible shooting. Although people were wrong about the boys being outcasts, they were right that something was wrong in their head. Unfortunately, they spotted this too late, Eric and Dylan thought they were better than everyone else. While the rest of the world thought they were a little ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Problem Of Using Microstrip Patch Antenna Has... 2.6.2 Radiation Pattern Microstrip Patch Antenna has radiation patterns that can be simply calculated. The source of the radiation of the electric field at the gap of the edge of the Microstrip element and the ground plane is main factor to the accurate calculation of the pattern for the patch antenna. Simply it can be said that the power radiated or received by the antenna is the function of angular position and radial distribution from the antenna [24]. In the fig.24 [9] below we can see the side view of the rectangular Microstrip element associated with source, and also the radiating of E fields. The radiation pattern of a common dimensional antenna can be seen below, which has side lobe, black lobes which are undesirable as they represent the energy that is wasted for transmitting Antennas and noise sources at the receiving end. 2.6.3 Gain Directivity The gain of the antenna defines the performance of the antenna or the capability to concentrate energy through a direction which give a better picture of the radiation pattern. It is expressed in dB, in a simple way we can say that this refers to the direction of the maximum radiation [24]. The expression for the maximum gain of an antenna is as follows: G=ηxD Eq. (2.29) η The efficiency of the antenna. D Directivity. In order to receive or transmit the power it can be chosen to maximize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Tourism And Its Effects On Tourism Essay 1. Introduction: In today s world, tourism has become one of the key factors of many countries, which contributes significantly not only to the countries economies, but it also helps resolving lots of problems such as employment. According to the World Tourism Organization (WTO), n.d., tourism consists of activities of people travelling and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than one year for leisure, business, and other purposes. Nevertheless, in order to stay overseas for a period of time, travelers have to use the currency of the country that they are staying by exchanging with their own currency. Business Dictionary (n.d.) defines exchange rate among the currencies as the prices, which is influenced by the interest rates, inflation rate, political stability, and so on. However, the currency exchange rates among countries are changing every day. Consequently, tourism will be affected by the fluctuations, and it is believed that they do have both negative and positive effects on tourism. In this report, the researcher will investigate the following question, How do USD NZD exchange rate fluctuations influence New Zealand s tourism patterns? in order to provide insights for the New Zealand tourism industry as well as travelers. Research questions: What is the current situation of NZ s tourism? What are the effects exchange rate fluctuations have on tourism? What are the influences that USD NZD exchange rate fluctuations have on NZ s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
