History of the Dallas Cowboys Essay example
Clint Murchison, Jr. and Bedford Wynne were awarded a National Football League (NFL)
expansion franchise on January 28, 1960, located in Dallas, TX. At the annual meeting, they
purchased the team for $600,000 (Bohls 1). They were given the status of a swing team meaning
that they would play every other team in the league their first season of play. They were
displaced in the Western Division Standings. Murchison s and Wynne s next moved was to high
their front office personnel which were: Tex Schramm (General Manager), Gil Brandt (Director
of Player Personnel), and Tom Landry as Head Coach. In the beginning there were called the
Dallas Steers, then after a couple of weeks the name was changed and there were called the Dallas

In 1966, a tradition was born as the first Thanksgiving Day was played, with is a ritual now that
the Cowboys play on Thanksgiving (Dallas Cowboys 3). The first game was played and won
against the Cleveland Browns (26 14). This win put Dallas in the driver s seat for playoff
positioning for the first time in franchise history. Dallas went on to finish the year with a record
of 10 3 1, the Eastern Conference Championship, and first post season action. They would
eventually lose in the Playoff Bowl on January 9, 1967 to the Baltimore Colts (Fleming 1). In
1967, they Cowboys put together back to back winning seasons, and earned the Capitol Division
title (Fleming 1). This season the Cowboys won their first playoff game, but eventually lost to
the Green Bay Packers. The Packers won the NFL title game with a score of 21 17, which is
now classically known as the Ice Bowl (Prinalgin 1). The next couple of season ended in
disappointment as the Cowboys made the playoffs but were embarrassed in 1968 and 1969.
There was a shining light in 1969 when quarterback Roger Staubach returned from his military
assignment he had been drafted in 1964. The quarterback initially had to split playing time with
the incumbent quarterback Craig Morton (Fleming 2). In 1970, the Dallas Cowboys started off the
season sluggish, with a record of 5 4 midway through the season. The Cowboys won the final five
games, won the NFC East title and

I Had A Shock At The Atm Essay
While traveling recently, I had a rude shock at the ATM. Due to insufficient funds, the bank
wouldn t allow me to withdraw money. I walked to another bank and tried my ATM card again.
Again it was rejected. Now I was worried. Some ATMs seemed to have trouble with my bank card,
but I had never been rejected by two banks in a row. And when a third ATM wouldn t disperse
money, I knew something was seriously wrong. I returned to the hotel where I was staying and
used their computer to log on to my bank s website. From there I could access my accounts, and
I discovered that my checking account had been siphoned dry. I sat there, almost dazed looking
at the screen. I was in the middle of Patagonia, and I had been the victim of fraud. I still had
several weeks of vacation left how would I get by? And how would I get back to the United
States? How did it happen? After I had gotten my breath back, I started to think. I reviewed my
account history and put some pieces together. I soon understood how my account information had
been stolen. Several weeks before, I had made a transaction via PayPal. I had done this in an
internet cafГ©, on a computer that must have had a keystroke recorder program installed on it.
My passwords had been stolen and my PayPal account had been accessed by a third party. Worst
of all, my PayPal account was directly linked to my bank account, and the perpetrator had simply
drained my bank account into my own PayPal account and then sent the money to

Write An Essay On Aboriginal Rights And Freedoms
Aboriginal Rights Freedoms
When European colonists settled in Australia they treated the Aboriginal people extremely
different to that of their fellow white men. The Aboriginals were not seen as first class citizens
through the European eye and as a result were victims of extreme oppressions and had nearly no
rights or freedoms. Since then Aboriginal people have fought to be treated equally to the white
men through various different ways. I will discuss the previous struggles faced by the Aboriginals,
the Australian strife for equality and finally the level of success and degree of rights and freedoms
given to Aboriginals in modern Australia.
In the early stages of colonization in Australia aboriginals were hardly treated as humans and were
not given access to the same rights and freedoms the settlers had. Whilst it was not as extreme as
slavery amongst African Americans in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are still many social adversities that statistically Aboriginals are more prone to than whites
such as domestic violence and substance abuse. The government aims to help out the Aboriginal
community with even more benefits than the white Australian receives such as free medical care
and legal services, help with housing requirements and many payment options to help those in need.
Despite all this being Aboriginals on average have a lower level of employment to non indigenous
Australians and have a lower level of education. This is slightly similar to South Africa following
apartheid although to less of an extent, poverty levels being higher and land still being owned by
whites. It is very much similar to that of USA where their black community on average is more so
in poverty than their white counterpart, although they are given the same rights and opportunities
theoretically the social barriers still

Research Paper On Lennon
In 1962, Lennon wrote Please Please Me by his infatuation with Bing Crosby s famous pun,
Please, lend your little ears to me please, (www.lifetimetv.co.uk). Based on the textbook s
definition of Gardner s theory of multiple intelligences, Lennon most likely had linguistic
intelligence. As it states in the textbook, linguistic intelligence refers to skills such as language,
speaking, reading a book, [or] writing a story, and these skills may have harvested Lennon s
interest in this pun. (Tanner et al. 2015, p. 338) In 1996, the group s lives were in danger when
they were accused of disrespecting the presidential family in the Philippines, and this would cause a
considerable amount of anxiety or nervousness in Lennon s life. (www.lifetimetv.co.uk)... Show

They wanted to expand their music by experimenting on drugs to create exotic and abstract music.
(www.lifetimetv.co.uk) The group took the initiative to experiment on these drugs as the textbook
states, Ultimately, the choice to use substances is up to the person making the decision, (Tanner et
al. 2015, p. 290). Unfortunately, the manager of The Beatles, Epstein, died of an accidental
overdose of sleeping pills on August 27, 1967. His death shocked The Beatles, but they
continued with their Magical Mystery Tour. (www.lifetimetv.co.uk) Their grief was an intense
emotional response to loss. People can grieve for the loss of a family member, a pet, or even a
job. The key factor in the grief response is the perception of loss of contact and interaction,
(Tanner et al. 2015, p. 509). In this case, Epstein was the person who helped them become
famous as a group. Losing him was like losing a big part of themselves. Their Magical Mystery
Tour film was not well received by critics. However, Lennon s I Am The Walrus , the soundtrack
album was seen as one of their most cryptic work. (www.lifetimetv.co.uk) According to the
textbook, Midlife personality traits tell us something about other aspects of an adult s life, (Tanner
et al. 2015, p. 421). Lennon s drug induced mental states may have contributed to the abstract
thought of I Am The Walrus , and may have also influenced his personality traits as

Why Libraries And Art Museums Serve The World
It means knowing exactly what your institution stands for, how we want to distinguish who we
are, how do we want to deliver the very best kind of result, cost effectively to the constituents that
we serve. In that sense, competitiveness is really important. It advances distinctiveness, when it is
done well, in its control. Finally, I think all of us have a responsibility, and especially you guys,
for thoughtful advocacy for the core value of what our institutions represent. Why do libraries and
art museums serve the world in fundamentally important ways? In much the same way one might
argue why liberal education and the humanities are important. There are core skills that we all
know, that those experiences in libraries, art museums, and so forth, help students to develop and
that contribute to the world in deep and meaningful ways. Foundational skills of, visual analysis,
written communication, and all of those things that go into being a thoughtful being that can
make good decisions. Rational approaches to reasoning. All of those things, education helps us to
advance and whatever one goes on to do when they graduate. Those skills will serve them well,
there is no question. Advancing critical literacy skills, how does one engage with ways of
knowing? How does one begin to understand bodies of knowledge and the vocabulary s that are
behind them? That is something that we help them to do, and once you learn how to do that and
understand that it is a skillset,

Analysis Of The New York Times By David Brooks Essay
Argumentative Essay on Supporting Our Students
In an article by The New York Times, by David Brooks, called, Support Our students. Brooks
explains that instead of free college, maybe they should help college students with everyday needs.
He said that college is already free for the working class and underpaid. (Brooks) He doesn t
believe that making community college free will help anymore with the debt, then it did before. In
sum, I will discuss the argument that David Brooks portrays and explain why I agree with it. I
will talk about three main points from Brooks article and discuss what it s like in other countries
that do have free college.
In David Brooks article, he mentions that students actually have free college at their disposal. By
using pell grants and scholarships, he believes that we re set. I don t disagree. In my experience,
my scholarship and my pell grant both pay for my school. However, I must have one scholarship
to receive the other and as a student that comes from a poor household, my pell grant covers all
of my college expenses aside from my books. He said it s more beneficial if instead of making
college free, that they should help the students. (Brooks) Such as living expenses, book fees, and
transportation.(Brooks) He mentions how most students have jobs, full or part time. (Brooks) I
am lucky enough to have a free living space on food, but I have a part time job and most of my
money goes towards saving up for my next semester s textbooks

Literary Techniques And Devices In The Lottery By Shirley...
When writing, authors use various writing techniques and devices to better their story. From
onomatopoeia, and similes, to mood and setting, these devices are what make the stories we
read astounding. Atmosphere specifically is imperative to a great writing piece as it is
prevalent throughout the entire story. From the first three words to the last three words, the
reader is focused on the mood they are interpreting from the storyline. In The Lottery written by
Shirley Jackson, the mood is what makes the story so amazing and helps us understand the
theme. The story begins with a beautiful day and blossoming flowers. Which gives the reader a
sense of a light hearted childrens story. The morning of June 27th was clear and Sunny... The
flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass was richly green. What do you think this
sounds like? Initially, it sounded like something I could read to my four year old sister. The
mood is very happy go lucky as the story continues. School was recently over for the summer,
and the feeling of liberty sat uneasily on most of them. While reading the story, I could relate to
the it as I love the summer and love being off from school. This story could have been in a regular
town precisely an older town as it was stated to only have 300 or so people, and they mentioned a
station wagon. The mood had been cheerful continuously until a little uncertainty appeared, when
all of the children started collecting rocks and making piles. Dickie...

Bob Fosse s Cabaret
Bob Fosse was one of one of the world s most influential musical theatre choreographers and
performers. His style consisted of isolations, sharp angles and a varied use of dynamics that
helped to establish his trademark. Fosse s 1972 movie musical Cabaret follows the story of a
Cambridge University student who moves to Berlin and is drawn into the world of the 1930 s
underground cabaretscene (Internet Movie Data Base, 2005). Cabaret addresses many of the socio
political issues that were prevalent in Germany at this time, including the rise of the Nazi Party, the
fall of the Weimar Republic and Germany emerging out of The Great Depression (History on the
Net, 2014). By juxtaposing elements of fantasy and reality, Bob Fosse comments on the

The atmosphere inside the club is similar to the one presented in The German Slapping Dance ; the
only major difference is that the audience is predominantly comprised of Nazi soldiers. This is
shown to highlight the blurring lines between fantasy and reality; and how both lifestyles were
seeping into the other. Outside, things have deteriorated significantly. Instead of small scale
beatings in darkened alleyways, the Nazi supporters are now running frantically through the streets,
yelling, scuffling and exuding power and violence. The celebratory atmosphere inside the club
juxtaposed with the violent protests outside in the street is indicative of how, even well into the
1930 s, the German public did not take the Nazi regime seriously and underestimated their hostility
and prejudice against minority groups. The costuming of the dancers in The Nazi Occupation is
significant because the red, black and white costuming is reflective of the Swastika flag and the
uniforms of the Nazi soldiers. This subtle detail, especially after the snare drum sounded and the
lighting changed, enhanced the interdependent nature of the fantasy and reality worlds presented in
The German Slapping Dance and The Nazi Occupation by highlighting the similarities between the
dancers onstage and the German Army. The use of the cane as a prop also accentuates the mimicry
of the German Army as the dancers manipulate the canes to look like rifles over their shoulders.
The non movement components of The Nazi Occupation in conjunction with the movement
components of the piece solidify the interconnected nature of the two starkly contrasting

Comparing Ways in Which Celebrities are Presented in Two...
Comparing Ways in Which Celebrities are Presented in Two Tabloid Newspapers
I will be focusing on the representation of celebrities in two newspapers, the Daily Mail and the
Daily Star. I chose these newspapers as one is a redtop and one a blacktop. The Daily Mail is a
blacktop, these are generally aimed at the higher classes as they contain more challenging language,
and are for perhaps more intellectual people. From this newspaper I chose ВЈ2m bland bombshell
(3rd January 2004), an article on the recent successes of TV star Linda Barker. The Daily Star is a
redtop, therefore aimed at the lower classes. It uses more simple, colloquial language, as this is
generally the language that is best ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am going to explore whose interests seem to be served in the articles I chose.
ВЈ2m bland bombshell tells of how Barker has gone from little known interior designer to one of
the most recognised faces on TV , even though she seemed destined to be C List . On this article,
practically the entire page is taken up by images of Barker compared to relatively little writing.
The pictures show all of her recent projects through which she has gained large sums of money.
There are 10 images in total, each showing how much money she received from them, these could
be shown to emphasise just how many features Barker has appeared in and how much she has
gained from them. The article also grabs the readers attention, as there are so many pictures. This
could also put more of an emphasis on her looks, she is quite good looking and this may attract
more readers.
The article on Barker is largely covered with images of her various projects. There are no shots
in which she comes across badly and she is posing in all of them. There are no pictures of her
outside her advertisements in her normal everyday life. This could suggest that advertising is her
life, and she does nothing but try and make more money. The pictures, which take up around 5/6 of
the page, emphasise just how many programmes she has been involved with. The

8th Grade Theme Song Essay
Eighth Grade Theme Song Essay Ride Close to the end of my eighth grade year at Minnetonka
Middle School East I was given the task to find a song with lyrics that could be the theme song
to my eighth grade year. After going through a bunch of songs and reading all of the lyrics I
think I chose a song that fit what I was looking for. I chose the song Ride by 21 Pilots for the
theme song of my eighth grade year. I have selected three parts of the song with lyrics that I think
represent my eighth grade year pretty well. The first section of lyrics that I chose from the song
that I think represent part of my eighth grade year are two lines from the beginning part of the
song that go like this, I know it s hard sometimes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think these lyrics represent my year very well because I over thought a lot of stuff throughout
the year. I also think this line of lyrics is similar to the first set of lyrics that I chose. For example
on pretty much every test I took during the year I would always over think and second guess
myself on the answer I put. So, that would result in me either getting the question wrong or just
getting very stressed and worrying about the grade I got on the test. I would worry and
overthink the test or project for as long time until finally the grade was put into skyward. Also, if
I got a grade on a test, project, homework assignment, etc. that I didn t like I would think a lot
about what I was going to do to get that grade up, but I spent so much time thinking about what I
was going to do I hardly ever actually tried to change it. Similar to my first example of why I
said this song could be the theme song to my eighth grade year, I would think about what I
thought my final grade in that class would look like and think whether or not re doing that
assignment would help my grade in the end. I was so worried about my math finals that I forgot
I had a science test and so I didn t feel good about the science test while I was taking it. And I
overthought every answer I clicked on the test. Was I right? Was I wrong? That s all that was going

Kevin Plank s Under Armour
SWOT Analysis: Under Armour
History:
Founded in 1996 by former University of Maryland football player Kevin Plank.
Originally started with a simple plan to make a t shirt that provided compression and wicked
perspiration off your skin instead of absorbing it.
Under Armour s mission is to make all athletes better through passion, design and the relentless
pursuit of innovation.
In 1999, Plank and his team signed on to supply product for the film Any Given Sunday. In the film,
the football team wears Under Armour apparel and accessories in key scenes. Later, Plank bought
his first print ad in ESPN the Magazine, and this risk ended up being a great decision as it
generated awareness and resulted in a $750,000 increase in sales.
Strengths: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Have created partnerships with professional sports leagues like Major League Baseball, the
National Hockey League, and the Baltimore Marathon.
They offer a wide range of apparel, which appeals to a larger number of people.
Positive responses from customers in their target markets.
Weaknesses:
In early development, Under Armour shoes weren t able to hold up after continual wear and tear
and they were ripped apart. Many people lost respect for that area of the company and this has hurt
them as that stigma still sticks with them even after further innovations.
Under Armour has not yet completely extended into the world markets yet, so they will be able to
increase their profits once they become a big force in those markets.
Recently there was a feud between Kevin Plank and other stock holders over a proposed stock split
that would guarantee he would stay in control of the company.
Opportunities:
Like I mentioned in the last section, Under Armour hasn t become a big force in foreign markets
yet. Doing so is a huge opportunity to grow their brand and sales significantly.
Under Armour needs to continue to innovate in order to remain competitive with other companies
like Nike, Adidas, and

Igor Stravinsky, a Russian Composer
Igor Stravinsky is known as one of the most important and influential composers of the twentieth
century. Igor was born in Lomonosow, Russia on June 17, 1882 to Anna Kholodovsky and
Fyodor Stravinsky. When Stravinsky was only three he witnessed a musician at a Russian fair
singing, clicking his tongue, and making armpit noises. Igor was so excited to go try it at home.
This was one of Stravinsky s first memory of music. Igor s childhood was not a good memory for
him. He felt hated and neglected. Igor recalled that his schooldays no one had real attraction for
him and he was always lonely. The only thing that got him through it was music and his piano
lessons. In 1890, Igor heard his first orchestral performance The Sleeping Beauty. He was
awestruck at the grace of the piece. That performance fueled his interest in music even more.
When he was fifteen, he had mastered Mendelssohn s Piano Concerto in G minor. Stravinsky
also finished a piano reduction of a string quartet by Glazunov, who allegedly thought that Igor
was unmusical and considered him to have poor skills. His parents saw how much he loved
music but didn t want him to pursue it as a job. They enrolled him in the University of Saint
Petersburg in 1901. Stravinsky was told to become a lawyer. Vladimir Rimsky Korsakov, son of
composer Nikolai Rimsky Korakove, was a fellow student at Saint Petersburg. Igor s father died in
1902. His death was a major cause for Stravinsky to become more

Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Fission
How Nuclear Fission produces Nuclear Bombs and Energy
KABOOOOM! That was the sound of the two atomic bombs the United States of America
dropped on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War 2. These two bombs were
the main reason the Japanese surrendered, which led to the end of the war. The bomb at
Hiroshima had a death toll of 135,000 and Nagasaki s death toll was 64,000 ( The Atomic
Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ). So how are these destructive bombs made? They are made
by nuclear fission. Nuclear fission is when an atom splits into two parts, either through natural
decay of when instigated within a lab and it produces energy. The natural decay is done through
beta decay and blasting neutrons at the nuclear of the atom is what splits the atom. Nuclear fission

Corruption in Corporate America
Corruption in Corporate America As said in every economics class, the reason every business goes
into business is to make money. The same can be said in criminal cases involving businesses. In the
majority of cases, executives and people highly ranked in the company tend to bend the numbers in
the financial/accounting areas of the business or corporation. They do not do this for fun, but rather
to make money. Something needs to be done before corporations really get out of hand. Thankfully,
after the EnronCorporation scandal, the government has recently started to crack down on
corporations and pay more attention to what they are doing. This is due to the extent of what
Enron Corp did for so long. From approximately 1996 to 2001,... Show more content on

I feel that the people who commit these crimes are just overwhelmingly greedy and cannot
control themselves. If they were able to build up the company, they obviously are intelligent
minds and more than likely already have a significant amount of money. Something needs to be
done, especially when so many people are affected. Millions of people lost so much money and
too many lost their life savings just because the people at the top of Enron were greedy. It seems
as though the government is taking small steps in the right direction. However, I feel that more
needs to be done especially because some of these companies are funding and supplying potential
terrorists. That is just outrageous and shows the extent of what people will do to make money.
This is difficult to control and monitor but more steps need to be made. Hopefully the politicians
and others of the future will recognize this ever growing problem and solve it for the companies to

Mergers And Acquisitions ( M S Essay
Mergers and Acquisitions (M A) is a term referring to the consolidation of companies or assets. A
merger is a combination of two companies forming to become a new company, and an acquisition is
the purchase of one company by another in which no new company is formed (investopedia.com).
The term M A also refers to the department of financial institutions that deal with mergers and
acquisitions. Every merger and acquisition has its own reasons based on organizational goals.
Mergers can help with entering emerging markets, cutting costs, and gaining competitive
advantages. There is increased pressure for publicly traded companies to raise their earnings. If it
cannot be done inside the company, they might seek to acquire companies to boost earnings.
Additionally, the internet and technology advancements have brought about off shoring of white
collar jobs and made merging with competitors easier.
There are four stages organizations undergo when a merger is decided. The first stage of a merger
and acquisition is the pre deal or pre merger and acquisition; it includes finding compatible business
ventures and partners to assess potential targets and develops a plan for execution (HR Focus,
2005). Organizations planning to go through a merger or acquisition must consider the legal
implications including equal employment opportunities. HR must examine the policies of both
companies and ensure employees are properly trained. Training should include harassment,

Film Stagecoach Analysis Essay
Stagecoach: The Revolutionary Western
John Ford built a standard that many future directors would follow with his classic 1939 film

Stagecoach revolutionized the western genre by elevating the genre from a B film into a more

Utilizing specific aspects of mise en scГЁne and cinematography, John Ford displays his views of

Doc Boone is not taken seriously and considered a fool because he is always drunk. Dallas is
always forgotten and all the attention is given to Mallory. In a scene where the stagecoach is
headed towards Apache Wells in the cold, Hatfield s facial expressions show that he is worried
and concerned whenever he looks at Lucy Mallory. Hatfield, being a gentleman, offers Lucy
Mallory water and serves water to her in a fancy silver cup but does not bother to ask Dallas.
However, Ringo Kid makes sure Dallas also gets a drink of water. This demonstrates that even
though Hatfield is considered a gentleman, he does not show any concern for Dallas because she
has a lower social status. Once the stagecoach arrives in Lordsburg, Lucy Mallory is carried out
on a stretcher. At first, the camera shot is wide angled and the street is crowded with soldiers
and civilians. Then there is a close up shot of Mallory on the stretcher as she speaks to Dallas.
The shot reveals Mallory s facial expression of remorse. Mallory looks apologetic and offers any
help to Dallas. This is one of the final scenes in the film and illustrates how Mallory s view of
Dallas completely changed by the resolution of the film. Throughout the film, Mallory felt
uncomfortable being around Dallas. Once Dallas helped take care of Mallory s baby, Mallory

The Cloud Service Providers Should Address The Still Open...
C RYPTOGRAPHY T ECHNIQUES
The cloud service providers should address the still open cloud security problems in order to
encourage users to use this technology. The most important concerns are confidentiality, integrity
and availability. In a complex and non transparent system like cloud computing, it is difficult for a
user to even determine what kind of security measures are implemented in the cloud. This section
presents Cryptography, as one of the security measure that can be implemented.
Cryptography techniques are defined as methods that protect the data by changing the format of the
data, such that it can not be understood by unauthorized users. The objectives of cryptography are
[9]:
1) Confidentiality
This is the service that makes sure that the data is accessed by the owner of the data and not allow
unauthorized to access the data.
1) Resource Location
As the data is stored at an unknown location, the client is unaware of the problems when there is
a dispute and is not in the control of the cloud service provider. The data stored by the cloud
service providers is not only under the policies of the service provider but are also affected by the
countries legislation policies where the data is stored. This makes the service providers hand over
sensitive information in accordance to the countries law and its law enforcement requests. If
someone subpoena the data stored then the service provider has to hand over that data without any
consent from the owner of the data.

Medical Purposes And Patients Plead Summary
In the article Legalize Use of Marijuana for Medical Purposes, MDs and Patients Plead Charlotte
Gray discusses the controversial topic of medical marijuana, while appealing to the reader s
pathos by using emotional stories about patients. Gray, an editor for the Canadian Medical
Association, claims that marijuana needs to be legal for medical purposes and doctors should have
a supply available for patients. However, Gray does not offer a convincing argument due to the
amount of focus on appealing to people s emotions, while not providing supportive details, statistics
, and truthful pathos.
Summary
Starting the article, Gray tells the story of Jean Pariseau. Jean is a patient who was told he had
three months left to live, until he started smoking marijuana, which caused him to take a turn in the
right direction. However, to get his marijuana he must purchase it illegally and the doctor must
pretend he or she does not know about it. The second patient mentioned, Terry Parker, was

declined. Both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On page two Gray states, He has heard from elderly women who have been forced to go onto the
streets to purchase marijuana for their dying husbands a terrifying prospect for people who have
no idea about the quality of what they are buying or whether they are paying a fair price. In this
example, Gray played into the reader s emotions too much that it questions the validity of the writer
s claim. Therefore, having too much pathos hurts Gray s claim.
Conclusion

Analysis Of Allan Kaprow s Work
The artist Allan Kaprow reconstructed the meaning of art when he began to make art that became
the antithesis of the typical paint on canvas or sculptural form and began creating environments
and performances which enacted the artist s, as well as audience participation. Kaprow s work
from the 1970s, what he referred to as Activities, further analyzed and assessed social relations
and their relationship to everyday social interactions. His previous artworks in the 1960s were also
dedicated to social interactions, however, the performances relied on a large group of artists and
participants. In the 1970s Kaprow began isolating his scripts from the audience, aiming for more
interpersonal events. By eliminating the audience, Kaprow s work... Show more content on

The common thread throughout Kaprow s work looks at human behavior, an attribute which has a
long definitive history among human beings. Aside from our individualized daily routines, such as
brushing our teeth, combing our hair, getting dressed, and so forth, our behavior has been molded
into unconscious activities and events which have become otherwise taken for granted. Kaprow s
Activities are performance structures, utilizing the direct life experience from small groups of
untrained participants who follow the artist s script in a nontheatrical/non art context. Kaprow
implicitly suggests that human beings behaviors are innate and learned. Even though the
participants are unfamiliar with the activity, they are capable of following a simple script in
order to successfully demonstrate a performance. As Adam Smith asserts in the preface of his
book, The Theory of Moral Sentiments, when we observe the behavior of people, we do not
simply experience events, we ascribe actions to agents; we pin some change in the environment on
a person as an action and we do so because we think we see the person s point in making the
change. Smith encapsulates the ideology behind Kaprow s interpersonal Activities, which is that
we judge, critique, discriminate and value people based on what we (emphasis mine) individually

Enlightenment Of Islam Book Report
The book written by Ayaan Hirisi Ali, Nomad, Growing up in a tribal and a very secluded join

The Rate Of Gross Domestic Product And Unemployment
The relationship between rate of Gross Domestic Product and Unemployment
Of an economy
The economic power of an economy is what truly enables it to be a global ruler; furthermore a
strong economy means the people are employed, successful and thriving. The best way to measure
the economy s current health is to just take a look at their Gross domestic production and
unemployment rate. A strong economy stands for global dominance and influence, resulting in
high standards of living, decreased unemployment, and prevention from recessions, depressions and
also lower the risk of inflation but is there a link between the gross domestic product and
unemployment that plays a role in all this? And how does this effect the well being of an economy,
also why was the Canadian recession of 2008 a proof of this direct but opposite link of GDP and
unemployment.
Now to connect the dots, it s easy to put out all these terms but not actually understand how they
are related well the growth of GDP means there is more demand of products and if there is demand,
companies need workers to make those products, hence there is lesser unemployment and the
economy is growing and production rate is also increasing. If the rate growth is constantly
decreasing with lesser demand and there is constant lower economic activity then the economy goes
into recession. To further elaborate these concepts, Gross domestic product stands for the total
economic activity of a nation, it means the monetary value of

Charlemagne Congenhard Analysis
Another aspect of Einhard s writing that must be questioned is his mention of friendships with
other kings as this is another area which seems to have a strong subtext. Einhard mentions that
Charlemagne made some alliances through friendship however these friendships often have a
deeper reason for their existence than purely his friendly nature: fear. When Alfonso [II], the king
of Galicia and Asturias... ordered that in Charle s presence he was only to be referred to as his
subject he may have been acting out of humility. However as this is not the first time The Life of
Charlemagnementions people acting humble in the presence of the Charlemagne it can be assumed

Both of these kings went to great lengths to appease King Charlemagne, giving up their land,
property, and even titles. While these may all be just sumptuous gifts from royals as a sign of
friendship, it could be indicative of something much more threatening. Comparatively the emperors
of Constantinople, Nicephorus [I], Michael [I], and Leo [V] thought that Charlemagne might want
to seize their empire for gaining the title of emperor but were brought to peace by the creation of a
treaty. Later the words about these emperors voluntarily seeking friendship may allude to the fact
that others sought Charlemagne s friendship out of necessity rather than of their own free will.
Lupus, the duke of Gascons, gave similar obedience and gifts to the king only this was not out of
friendship but out of fear. Charlemagne threatened to wage war on Lupus if he did not return a
fugitive to the king, but with the prisoner he also entrusted himself and the territory he governed to
[Charle s] power. This undeniable similarity could be the key to understanding the roots of

Nasa Presentation
Nasa project Presentation Overall I think are presentation was good the reason why I think that is.
Are presentation was about the apollo missions one through eleven and what each objective was for
each mission. Each mission was an important role for nasa because they learned many things like
the mistakes they made and the new things they discovered throughout the missions. It s fascinating
how much they were able to achieve in a short period of time.
The apollo missions were like steps for the next mission. The goal at the end was to get the first
man on the moon. It took in total 6 apollo missions to be able to get a man on the moon and back.
The apollo missions where a great achievement for mankind and the united states. Getting a man on
the moon meant that we could go to so many other planets and not just the moon.
Are presentation also went into a little bit of detail on how the race began to the moon against the
other countries including the US and Russia. At the time of the race to the moon, the US and

Refugee Controversy
The estimated number of refugees since World War II is one hundred million ( Refugee ).
Supporting and solving today s refugee crisis is especially controversial because of the current
events, financing, and security issues. A refugee is a person who has left their country because of
fear of their safety due to violence, race, religion, or war ( RefugeeFacts ). Climate change and
natural disasters sometimes cause people to leave their homes or countries. Some examples of
these natural disasters are floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, and mudslides. These do not qualify as
a reason to be a refuge ( Refugees ). Refugees leave their country and move to another country and
ask for asylum which provides protection and assistance as a confirmed refugee.... Show more

In December 2015 Donald Trump argued that Muslim refugees should not be accepted into the
U.S. until the vetting process can be improved to reduce security risks. Representative Peter King
also believes that the process of checking refugees is not good enough. The process does not
provide enough information to tell if a refugee is a terrorist or will become one ( Refugee Crisis ).
In June 2015, Representative Michael McCaul said that terrorists are sneaking into the United States
through the refugee process, and the United States should protect its citizens first ( Refugee
Crisis ). Between 2001 and 2015, three of 850,000 refugees were convicted of terrorist attacks
(Landon, Shanti.). Vetting refugees from Middle Eastern countries at war is not effective
because criminal and terrorist records are not updated in these countries (Landon, Shanti) Other
people believe the exact opposite is true. For instance, David Bier is the Director of Immigration
Policy at Niskanen Center in Washington D.C. He wrote in his blog that refugees that flee from
ISIS violence should continue to be welcomed into the U.S. because of the welfare of those
people and for security reasons. Patrick Eddington, a prior CIA officer, said that Syrian refugees
know a lot about ISIS, and they can give the United States information about ISIS. Some ISIS
information has already been leaked by the Syrians to help the United States defeat them (Bier,
David). Some people argue that besides a security threat, refugees also threaten the cultural ways of
the country. In September 2015, the Politico reported that Bernard Monot of the European
Parliament feared that the culture of France would change because Muslim refugees would bring in
more children and more influence ( Refugee

In 2012, a report by the Attorney General s National Task Force on Children Exposed to Violence

lives affected by violence, crime, abuse, or psychological trauma in that year (Klain, White, 2013).

The function of this model is to improve the process of identifying, engaging, and delivering
services to children experiencing trauma by various child welfare systems. The Institute of
Healthcare Improvement (IHI) created this model with the aim of bringing together subject matter
professionals with application experts to help concerned organizations choose, test, and execute
changes in direct service delivery (Grayson, Childress, Baker, Hatchett, 2012). However, most
agencies have not been able to embrace this change hence making it difficult to translate evidence
into mental health policy.
Failure to Report Cases of Child Maltreatment
Studies have shown that many people fail to report cases of traumatic childhood events to the
concerned authorities. Such activities include child abuse, violence, and other forms of
maltreatment. Research also shows that the reaction of children to trauma differ depending on the
resiliency of the affected child and his or her age. For instance, preschool and young children may
not be in a position to develop the ability to identify areas where they can find security and thus
establish great fear in response to trauma. Sometimes, the concern can extend beyond the
circumstances of the traumatic event. Also, the caregivers in foster homes may not be in a position
to notice any signs of traumatic stress in the child. Such symptoms that go

Rhetorical Analysis Of David Sedaris s Me Talk Pretty One Day

Me Talk Pretty One Day
This essay Me Talk Pretty One Day about the author David Sedaris stands one of his phenomenal
pieces that he got us used to. He indicated several techniques throughout his essay that included
more meaning and humor to his selection. It s much easier to be anything other than being
humorous and comedic on paper, however David Sedaris continues to be a brilliant author in his
selection for the language techniques that he uses to deliver the smile upon our faces; the extensive
imagination to the scenes of his story. David develops his thesis through delicate humor and
entertaining anecdote of his French course and his know it all professor who finds enjoyment of
belittling her students.
One of the most techniques I notice that David uses his selection is the style of Persuasion; Ethos,
Logo and Pathos. The techniques that he used to help broaden the audience s imagination; creating
a clear view of the scenes to what the author is talking about and how he was feeling during those
scenes. David used Pathos for most of his essay, leading his audience into his feelings and emotions
as he tells us his story. In addition to the earlier techniques, David came across some simple,
entertaining methods to accomplish the purpose of this selection (Entertainment). David implied
gibberish words which made it a lot more interesting and enjoyable.

Essay on Karl Marx s Estranged Labor
Karl Marx s Estranged Labor In Karl Marx s early writing on estranged labor there is a clear and
prevailing focus on the plight of the laborer. Marx s writing on estranged labor is an attempt to
draw a stark distinction between property owners and workers. In the writing Marx argues that
the worker becomes estranged from his labor because he is not the recipient of the product he
creates. As a result labor is objectified, that is labor becomes the object of mans existence. As
labor is objectified man becomes disillusioned and enslaved. Marx argues that man becomes to
be viewed as a commodity worth only the labor he creates and man is further reduced to a
subsisting animal void of any capacity of freedom except the will to labor. For... Show more content

He argues that this situation is analogous to a man and his religion. Marx writes, The more man
puts into God the less he retains in himself....The worker puts his life into the object, but now his
life no longer belongs to him but to the object. The result of the worker belonging to the object
is that he is enslaved. The worker belongs to something else and his actions are dictated by that
thing. For Marx, labor turns man into a means. Workers become nothing more than the capital
necessary to produce a product. Labor for Marx reduces man to a means of production. As a
means of production man is diminished to a subsisting enslaved creature void of his true nature.
In this condition he is reduced to the most detrimental state of man: one in which he is estranged
from himself. To help expand on this theme it is useful to look at Marx s allegory of man s life
activity. Of the variety of reasons Marx argues man is estranged from his labor, probably the
most significant is his belief that labor estranges man from himself. Marx argues that the labor
the worker produces does not belong to the worker so in essence the worker does not belong to
the worker. By virtue of this condition Marx argues the worker is enslaved. Enslavement for Marx
is a condition alien to man and he becomes estranged from himself. For Marx, man estranged from
himself is stripped of his very nature. Not only because

Advantages Of Qualitative Research
5 Qualitative Research
5.1 Methodology
As the aim of the research is to identify the relationship between the CSR and the brand trust,
focus group would be the most appropriate approach to collect a diverse range of individuals
opinions in a short time (Rabiee, 2007). Moreover, Focus group would encourage participants to
communicate with each other, which would generate more data which cannot be collected by one
to one depth interview, this could be termed as the group effect (Carey Smith 1994). Morgan
Krueger (1993) also point out that focus group would observe the participants attitude about the
social problems.
The objective of qualitative research is to collect the individuals views and support the quantitative
research design. The focus group is considered as a technique, which implements the depth group

following criteria: First, they have the relevant life experiences and have something to state on the
topic. Second, it would be better that they are not fearful of expressing the opinions among the
participants. Third, they could feel comfortable communicating with each other.
To collect more valuable data, the focus group was divided into two groups, each group has 5
participants. They were conducted in one of the group members flat on 1st November and 2nd

Summary Of A Reflection On The Revolution In France
After watching The Square and reading the Reflection on the Revolution in France, I find it s
plausible to say that Edmund Burke will disagree with the Egyptian revolution for three reasons.
First of all, regarding the purpose of revolution, Edmund Burke holds a different view with the
Egyptian revolutionaries. In the Reflection on the Revolution in France, Burke points out The
revolution was made to preserve our ancient indisputable laws and liberties, and that ancient
constitution of government which is our only security for law and liberty... the very idea of the
fabrication of a new government is enough to fill us with disgust and horror (Burke, 117). Edmund
Burke believes that the goal of revolution is to secure the inherited rights and forefathers legacies.
He suggests that instead of demolishing the castle, which means to depose the former government,
it is better to repair it, which means to reform and improve its imperfect parts, laws for example
(Burke, 121). Thus, in his prospective, the idea of overthrowing the regime is extremely undesirable
and ineffective, comparing to the idea of reforming the old system and making compromises with
different political forces (Burke, 122). However, according to The Square, for Egyptian
revolutionaries, the ultimate purpose of the revolution is to completely abandon the old regime, to
remove the whole political system, together with its laws, its ruler, its government, institutions and
militaries, and to rebuild it by

The remains of the city, Nimrud, tell many stories about itself throughout its lifespan. Even though
most of the remains left today were destroyed by an Islamic terrorist group, we can still replicate,

College Should Be Their Main Priority
From kindergarten to high school, students are told over and over again that attending college
should be their main priority. College is the way to success, or College is essential in order to find

preparing students for college. Higher educationover the years however, has been increasing.
College Board, an organization that prepares students for college and administers standardized
tests, showed in a study that college tuition has been on a rise since 1973.
How much has college tuition increased? College Board indicates that in the 1973 74 school year,
the cost of tuition and fees in 2013 dollars for a four year public university was $2,710. In 2013 14
school year, the price for a public four year university rose to $8,893 per year (College Board).
The number is different considering what type of university a student attends. A private non profit
four year university in 1973 cost $10,783 in tuition and fees. For the same type of university, the
cost since has risen to $30,094 in the 2013 14 school year (College Board). A study that is shown

Journal Entries Study Guide
This journal entry will mainly be focusing on chapter 4 which is about summarizing. Each
journal entry is about different chapters but when writing these entries, it gives a good
understanding of each of the chapters and what specifically we have learned from the chapters.
Summarizing is used throughout your career and in every aspect of your life while you read
anything. People summarize topics and articles all the time. In my opinion, I feel reading a
summery is easily and faster than reading an entire book article. You can get a good and core
understand of any topic quickly just by reading a summary. People also usually summarize
everything; not only is summaries used in books but it is also used in movies and shows to give
us a mini summery of what the movie or television show is mainly about without having to watch
the whole movie or show. I know for myself, I have read up on a lot of summaries for previous
televisions shows that I might have missed so that I can catch on to the present episodes.
Summaries can also be used at work when you are trying to help someone understand and teach a
specific topic and not have them go through reading and understandingpages. Now, how to write a
summary becomes the difficult part. Not everyone knows how to write a summery or how to
summarize topics. It becomes difficult for people to read a whole article, book, or chapters and
have to summarize them into a 1 2 page paper explaining the main concepts and ideas. There are a

The theme is similar to the one presented by Hemmingway because of the notion or concept used

Brien s regret is from throwing the grenade and having to kill all those people he killed. The
regret is from killing the soldiers and all he wished for was that the soldiers had just walked

things were to happen differently. The two stories were both similar in their story line which was

The Importance Of A Successful Firm Is Good Communication
The cornerstone to a successful firm is good communication. Without it, there is confusion,
resentment, and a blurry vision for the direction the company wants to go. In order to ensure there
is successful communication amongst the managers and its employees of the firm, a
communication contract should be created. This contract establishes ethical communicationand rules
for which each individual is to follow when communicating with others. Aside from creating
excellent communication within the firm, the communication contract creates long lasting benefits
for the firm and creates a solid foundation.
Other communication strategies may create short term profits but do not have the long lasting
benefits of an ethical communication contract. The communication contract I would propose to the
firm I work for would have six clauses. They would be the immunity clause, the respect clause, the
need for change clause, the switched roles clause, the bottom up clause, and the key focus clause.
The immunity clause stipulates that anything said or brought about is done so without any
consequence. The motivation behind this clause is that too many good suggestions or ideas or
constructive criticisms are held back because employees fear that they will be reprimanded or even
lose their job because of the criticism. With the immunity clause employees can share their true
feelings and critiques and that will be honored rather than rebuked. A companion to the immunity

Group Thinking And Conformity
CONFORMITY
Conformity is changing one s own behaviour as to more closely match the action of others
(Ciccarelli Meyer, 2006). When one start doing what the majority is doing. Conformity can be
affected by group thinking. Group thinking is kind of thinking in which people feel it is more
important to maintain the group s cohesiveness than to consider the facts more realistically
(Ciccarelli Meyer, 2006). Conformity is one of social influence that is investigated by social

Compare And Contrast Tornadoes And Hurricanes
Tornadoes V.S. Hurricanes
OMG! Look over there! A hurricane! Hurricane and tornadoes have many, many similarities, but
they have so many differences also. Hurricanes and tornadoes are similar in the ways that they
damage and strike. Tornadoes and hurricanes are distinct in how they form, their wind speeds, and
their effects. Look at that twister! It s moving so fast! What are the differences in a hurricanes and
a tornadoes wind speed, I wander? A tornadoand a hurricane have completely different wind
speeds! For example, a tornado can rotate up to 318 mph (miles per hour), if it were to be an ef 5

Is Global Warming Going To Be Very Harmful To The Earth
Is Global Warming going to be very harmful to the Earth in the future?
Outline
I. Window 1: Can global warming be stopped
A. Temperatures have ascended
1. Temperatures on earth have risen approximately 1.4В°F since the early 20th century (Global
Warming)
a. According to that study, the increasing of the atmospheric climateover time is a direct result of
human activities that cause significant and harmful climate changes including. Therefore in this
manner numerous countries confront that immediate international action has to be performed to
diminish greenhouse gas emissions to avoid serious atmospheric changes
2. At the Paris climate summit in 2015, 195 nations endorsed a notable accordance to decrease the

2. Since December, the crack has grown by the length of about five football fields each day,
moreover, the fracture has developed faster this year in a region officially unprotected to warming
temperatures. (Patel)
a. The author is supporting the argument that if humans don t do something soon it would be too
late to prevent global warming to keep developing and getting worse. She s showing the impact that
global warming is having on one of the Antarctic ice shelves overtime and what is its aspect today.
II. Are humans responsible of global warming?
Some people think that global warming has been caused because of human activities.
The rise in atmospheric CO2 over the last century was clearly caused by human activity, as it
occurred at a rate much faster than natural climate changes could produce. Over the past 650,000
years, atmospheric CO2 levels did not rise above 300 ppm until the mid 20th century
(Climatechange.procon.org )
According to that atmospheric levels record, the rising of the atmospheric CO2 levels has been
caused by the human activities and if human activities didn t happen, the changes that natural
climate could produce would have happened way slower so that means less damage to the globe
since the changes would have occurred at a speed that the climate is designed to.
2. Of greater concern to scientists is how the collapse of ice

Melia In The Ruined Maid
Throughout the poem, The Ruined Maid , Melia who represents the ruined maid literally shows
us a different version of what it means to be ruined. A former country maiden, now turned into
an illustrious town girl, Melia, happens to meet with an old friend of hers who is from the
country like her. Being a country girl, she is filled with admiration and envy upon seeing Melia
as though she was seeing her in a new light. When Melia is asked by her friend as to how she
became so prosperous, Melia in turn asks her if she hadn t known that Melia had been ruined.
Melia s friend then points out various instances of the life that Melia had lived through as a
country girl. If we were to put ourselves in the place of Melia s friend and compare our lives with
Melia s, we might just appear to be finding ourselves more ruined than Melia : You left us in
tatters, without shoes or socks (line 5 ) .... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When asked about the changes in manner of her speech from an ordinary country style talk to
talking in words that seem suited mostly for those of high class status, Melia replied : Some
polish is gained with one s ruin, (line 12). This shows that even though Melia previously didn t
have that jest and mannerism of speaking, she eventually acquires this high taste. Melia s
physical transformation also astonishes her friend since Melia s hands had changed from being
country or farm hands to those like a lady as well as a beautiful change in Melia s facial
complexion. Melia indicates that another advantage of being ruined is not having to do any work
like her friend. Melia also seems to be more lively than as though she had never experienced
sadness in her life : True. One s pretty lively when ruined, (line

Iga Informative Speech
I am writing to you because I recently learned some new information about In Game Advertising,
better known as IGA, and would like to share it with you. I would also like to address my
contributions to this presentation.
I was in charge of defining and figuring out what IGA is, how much it costs, and the history of
IGA. After some researching, I soon realized that, IGA and Avergames are not the same as I
previously thought. IGA can incorporate Advergames however, IGA is more like the big picture or

Essay On Emergency Management
In the United States losses resulting from natural and man made disasters have increased
significantly due to catastrophic events. The natural and man made disasters facing the United
States can include acts of terrorism, wildland and urban fires, floods, hazardous material spills,
nuclear accidents, hurricanes, earthquakes, and more. Emergency managementis an essential role of
government. The US emergency managementis the organization and management of resources and
responsibilities in the attempt to reduce the harmful effects of disasters (FEMA, 2010). The
emergency management is based on phases of preparedness, mitigation, and recovery addressing
extreme events and disasters.
When individuals think of disasters, many may view such events as a complex interaction
between damaging physical events and its infrastructure, meaning the focus is on destroyed
buildings. However, natural and man made disasters only become disasters when people s lives
and livelihoods are swept away. However, in the event a disaster were to occur, whether man made
or naturally, being prepared potentially reduces the vulnerability to disaster. Preparedness
encompasses actions designed to build organizational resiliency for response to and recovery from
disaster impacts.
The Emergency Operation Plan (EOP) establishes a process and procedures for the context of the
emergency. Each jurisdiction develops an EOP that helps define the scope of preparedness and the
incident management activities

Social Issues In Middle Schools
Ever since I was young, I remember being completely fascinated with science, and specifically
biology. Middle school was when I realized how fascinated I am by animals, their behavior, and
their welfare. I began to notice the overpopulation issue of strays and the overfill in local
shelters. It opened my eyes to what seemed like a different aspect of the world. There are so
many social issues that people are focused on, and some people have started to ignore other
living creatures. This has struck me. As I ve been getting older, I feel, more and more, like I can
make a difference, at least in my community. Now, since I have started driving, I have rehabilitated
a kitten I found, taken countless stray cats to a local spay/neuter clinic, and

  • 2. History of the Dallas Cowboys Essay example Clint Murchison, Jr. and Bedford Wynne were awarded a National Football League (NFL) expansion franchise on January 28, 1960, located in Dallas, TX. At the annual meeting, they purchased the team for $600,000 (Bohls 1). They were given the status of a swing team meaning that they would play every other team in the league their first season of play. They were displaced in the Western Division Standings. Murchison s and Wynne s next moved was to high their front office personnel which were: Tex Schramm (General Manager), Gil Brandt (Director of Player Personnel), and Tom Landry as Head Coach. In the beginning there were called the Dallas Steers, then after a couple of weeks the name was changed and there were called the Dallas Rangers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1966, a tradition was born as the first Thanksgiving Day was played, with is a ritual now that the Cowboys play on Thanksgiving (Dallas Cowboys 3). The first game was played and won against the Cleveland Browns (26 14). This win put Dallas in the driver s seat for playoff positioning for the first time in franchise history. Dallas went on to finish the year with a record of 10 3 1, the Eastern Conference Championship, and first post season action. They would eventually lose in the Playoff Bowl on January 9, 1967 to the Baltimore Colts (Fleming 1). In 1967, they Cowboys put together back to back winning seasons, and earned the Capitol Division title (Fleming 1). This season the Cowboys won their first playoff game, but eventually lost to the Green Bay Packers. The Packers won the NFL title game with a score of 21 17, which is now classically known as the Ice Bowl (Prinalgin 1). The next couple of season ended in disappointment as the Cowboys made the playoffs but were embarrassed in 1968 and 1969. There was a shining light in 1969 when quarterback Roger Staubach returned from his military assignment he had been drafted in 1964. The quarterback initially had to split playing time with the incumbent quarterback Craig Morton (Fleming 2). In 1970, the Dallas Cowboys started off the season sluggish, with a record of 5 4 midway through the season. The Cowboys won the final five games, won the NFC East title and ... • 3. I Had A Shock At The Atm Essay While traveling recently, I had a rude shock at the ATM. Due to insufficient funds, the bank wouldn t allow me to withdraw money. I walked to another bank and tried my ATM card again. Again it was rejected. Now I was worried. Some ATMs seemed to have trouble with my bank card, but I had never been rejected by two banks in a row. And when a third ATM wouldn t disperse money, I knew something was seriously wrong. I returned to the hotel where I was staying and used their computer to log on to my bank s website. From there I could access my accounts, and I discovered that my checking account had been siphoned dry. I sat there, almost dazed looking at the screen. I was in the middle of Patagonia, and I had been the victim of fraud. I still had several weeks of vacation left how would I get by? And how would I get back to the United States? How did it happen? After I had gotten my breath back, I started to think. I reviewed my account history and put some pieces together. I soon understood how my account information had been stolen. Several weeks before, I had made a transaction via PayPal. I had done this in an internet cafГ©, on a computer that must have had a keystroke recorder program installed on it. My passwords had been stolen and my PayPal account had been accessed by a third party. Worst of all, my PayPal account was directly linked to my bank account, and the perpetrator had simply drained my bank account into my own PayPal account and then sent the money to ... • 4. Write An Essay On Aboriginal Rights And Freedoms Aboriginal Rights Freedoms When European colonists settled in Australia they treated the Aboriginal people extremely different to that of their fellow white men. The Aboriginals were not seen as first class citizens through the European eye and as a result were victims of extreme oppressions and had nearly no rights or freedoms. Since then Aboriginal people have fought to be treated equally to the white men through various different ways. I will discuss the previous struggles faced by the Aboriginals, the Australian strife for equality and finally the level of success and degree of rights and freedoms given to Aboriginals in modern Australia. In the early stages of colonization in Australia aboriginals were hardly treated as humans and were not given access to the same rights and freedoms the settlers had. Whilst it was not as extreme as slavery amongst African Americans in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are still many social adversities that statistically Aboriginals are more prone to than whites such as domestic violence and substance abuse. The government aims to help out the Aboriginal community with even more benefits than the white Australian receives such as free medical care and legal services, help with housing requirements and many payment options to help those in need. Despite all this being Aboriginals on average have a lower level of employment to non indigenous Australians and have a lower level of education. This is slightly similar to South Africa following apartheid although to less of an extent, poverty levels being higher and land still being owned by whites. It is very much similar to that of USA where their black community on average is more so in poverty than their white counterpart, although they are given the same rights and opportunities theoretically the social barriers still ... • 5. Research Paper On Lennon In 1962, Lennon wrote Please Please Me by his infatuation with Bing Crosby s famous pun, Please, lend your little ears to me please, (www.lifetimetv.co.uk). Based on the textbook s definition of Gardner s theory of multiple intelligences, Lennon most likely had linguistic intelligence. As it states in the textbook, linguistic intelligence refers to skills such as language, speaking, reading a book, [or] writing a story, and these skills may have harvested Lennon s interest in this pun. (Tanner et al. 2015, p. 338) In 1996, the group s lives were in danger when they were accused of disrespecting the presidential family in the Philippines, and this would cause a considerable amount of anxiety or nervousness in Lennon s life. (www.lifetimetv.co.uk)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They wanted to expand their music by experimenting on drugs to create exotic and abstract music. (www.lifetimetv.co.uk) The group took the initiative to experiment on these drugs as the textbook states, Ultimately, the choice to use substances is up to the person making the decision, (Tanner et al. 2015, p. 290). Unfortunately, the manager of The Beatles, Epstein, died of an accidental overdose of sleeping pills on August 27, 1967. His death shocked The Beatles, but they continued with their Magical Mystery Tour. (www.lifetimetv.co.uk) Their grief was an intense emotional response to loss. People can grieve for the loss of a family member, a pet, or even a job. The key factor in the grief response is the perception of loss of contact and interaction, (Tanner et al. 2015, p. 509). In this case, Epstein was the person who helped them become famous as a group. Losing him was like losing a big part of themselves. Their Magical Mystery Tour film was not well received by critics. However, Lennon s I Am The Walrus , the soundtrack album was seen as one of their most cryptic work. (www.lifetimetv.co.uk) According to the textbook, Midlife personality traits tell us something about other aspects of an adult s life, (Tanner et al. 2015, p. 421). Lennon s drug induced mental states may have contributed to the abstract thought of I Am The Walrus , and may have also influenced his personality traits as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Why Libraries And Art Museums Serve The World It means knowing exactly what your institution stands for, how we want to distinguish who we are, how do we want to deliver the very best kind of result, cost effectively to the constituents that we serve. In that sense, competitiveness is really important. It advances distinctiveness, when it is done well, in its control. Finally, I think all of us have a responsibility, and especially you guys, for thoughtful advocacy for the core value of what our institutions represent. Why do libraries and art museums serve the world in fundamentally important ways? In much the same way one might argue why liberal education and the humanities are important. There are core skills that we all know, that those experiences in libraries, art museums, and so forth, help students to develop and that contribute to the world in deep and meaningful ways. Foundational skills of, visual analysis, written communication, and all of those things that go into being a thoughtful being that can make good decisions. Rational approaches to reasoning. All of those things, education helps us to advance and whatever one goes on to do when they graduate. Those skills will serve them well, there is no question. Advancing critical literacy skills, how does one engage with ways of knowing? How does one begin to understand bodies of knowledge and the vocabulary s that are behind them? That is something that we help them to do, and once you learn how to do that and understand that it is a skillset, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of The New York Times By David Brooks Essay Argumentative Essay on Supporting Our Students In an article by The New York Times, by David Brooks, called, Support Our students. Brooks explains that instead of free college, maybe they should help college students with everyday needs. He said that college is already free for the working class and underpaid. (Brooks) He doesn t believe that making community college free will help anymore with the debt, then it did before. In sum, I will discuss the argument that David Brooks portrays and explain why I agree with it. I will talk about three main points from Brooks article and discuss what it s like in other countries that do have free college. In David Brooks article, he mentions that students actually have free college at their disposal. By using pell grants and scholarships, he believes that we re set. I don t disagree. In my experience, my scholarship and my pell grant both pay for my school. However, I must have one scholarship to receive the other and as a student that comes from a poor household, my pell grant covers all of my college expenses aside from my books. He said it s more beneficial if instead of making college free, that they should help the students. (Brooks) Such as living expenses, book fees, and transportation.(Brooks) He mentions how most students have jobs, full or part time. (Brooks) I am lucky enough to have a free living space on food, but I have a part time job and most of my money goes towards saving up for my next semester s textbooks ... • 8. Literary Techniques And Devices In The Lottery By Shirley... When writing, authors use various writing techniques and devices to better their story. From onomatopoeia, and similes, to mood and setting, these devices are what make the stories we read astounding. Atmosphere specifically is imperative to a great writing piece as it is prevalent throughout the entire story. From the first three words to the last three words, the reader is focused on the mood they are interpreting from the storyline. In The Lottery written by Shirley Jackson, the mood is what makes the story so amazing and helps us understand the theme. The story begins with a beautiful day and blossoming flowers. Which gives the reader a sense of a light hearted childrens story. The morning of June 27th was clear and Sunny... The flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass was richly green. What do you think this sounds like? Initially, it sounded like something I could read to my four year old sister. The mood is very happy go lucky as the story continues. School was recently over for the summer, and the feeling of liberty sat uneasily on most of them. While reading the story, I could relate to the it as I love the summer and love being off from school. This story could have been in a regular town precisely an older town as it was stated to only have 300 or so people, and they mentioned a station wagon. The mood had been cheerful continuously until a little uncertainty appeared, when all of the children started collecting rocks and making piles. Dickie... ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Bob Fosse s Cabaret Bob Fosse was one of one of the world s most influential musical theatre choreographers and performers. His style consisted of isolations, sharp angles and a varied use of dynamics that helped to establish his trademark. Fosse s 1972 movie musical Cabaret follows the story of a Cambridge University student who moves to Berlin and is drawn into the world of the 1930 s underground cabaretscene (Internet Movie Data Base, 2005). Cabaret addresses many of the socio political issues that were prevalent in Germany at this time, including the rise of the Nazi Party, the fall of the Weimar Republic and Germany emerging out of The Great Depression (History on the Net, 2014). By juxtaposing elements of fantasy and reality, Bob Fosse comments on the obliviousness... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The atmosphere inside the club is similar to the one presented in The German Slapping Dance ; the only major difference is that the audience is predominantly comprised of Nazi soldiers. This is shown to highlight the blurring lines between fantasy and reality; and how both lifestyles were seeping into the other. Outside, things have deteriorated significantly. Instead of small scale beatings in darkened alleyways, the Nazi supporters are now running frantically through the streets, yelling, scuffling and exuding power and violence. The celebratory atmosphere inside the club juxtaposed with the violent protests outside in the street is indicative of how, even well into the 1930 s, the German public did not take the Nazi regime seriously and underestimated their hostility and prejudice against minority groups. The costuming of the dancers in The Nazi Occupation is significant because the red, black and white costuming is reflective of the Swastika flag and the uniforms of the Nazi soldiers. This subtle detail, especially after the snare drum sounded and the lighting changed, enhanced the interdependent nature of the fantasy and reality worlds presented in The German Slapping Dance and The Nazi Occupation by highlighting the similarities between the dancers onstage and the German Army. The use of the cane as a prop also accentuates the mimicry of the German Army as the dancers manipulate the canes to look like rifles over their shoulders. The non movement components of The Nazi Occupation in conjunction with the movement components of the piece solidify the interconnected nature of the two starkly contrasting ... Comparing Ways in Which Celebrities are Presented in Two Tabloid Newspapers I will be focusing on the representation of celebrities in two newspapers, the Daily Mail and the Daily Star. I chose these newspapers as one is a redtop and one a blacktop. The Daily Mail is a blacktop, these are generally aimed at the higher classes as they contain more challenging language, and are for perhaps more intellectual people. From this newspaper I chose ВЈ2m bland bombshell (3rd January 2004), an article on the recent successes of TV star Linda Barker. The Daily Star is a redtop, therefore aimed at the lower classes. On this article, practically the entire page is taken up by images of Barker compared to relatively little writing. The pictures show all of her recent projects through which she has gained large sums of money. There are 10 images in total, each showing how much money she received from them, these could be shown to emphasise just how many features Barker has appeared in and how much she has gained from them. The article also grabs the readers attention, as there are so many pictures. This could also put more of an emphasis on her looks, she is quite good looking and this may attract more readers. The article on Barker is largely covered with images of her various projects. There are no shots in which she comes across badly and she is posing in all of them. There are no pictures of her outside her advertisements in her normal everyday life. This could suggest that advertising is her life, and she does nothing but try and make more money. The pictures, which take up around 5/6 of the page, emphasise just how many programmes she has been involved with. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. 8th Grade Theme Song Essay Eighth Grade Theme Song Essay Ride Close to the end of my eighth grade year at Minnetonka Middle School East I was given the task to find a song with lyrics that could be the theme song to my eighth grade year. After going through a bunch of songs and reading all of the lyrics I think I chose a song that fit what I was looking for. I chose the song Ride by 21 Pilots for the theme song of my eighth grade year. I have selected three parts of the song with lyrics that I think represent my eighth grade year pretty well. The first section of lyrics that I chose from the song that I think represent part of my eighth grade year are two lines from the beginning part of the song that go like this, I know it s hard sometimes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think these lyrics represent my year very well because I over thought a lot of stuff throughout the year. I also think this line of lyrics is similar to the first set of lyrics that I chose. For example on pretty much every test I took during the year I would always over think and second guess myself on the answer I put. So, that would result in me either getting the question wrong or just getting very stressed and worrying about the grade I got on the test. I would worry and overthink the test or project for as long time until finally the grade was put into skyward. Also, if I got a grade on a test, project, homework assignment, etc. that I didn t like I would think a lot about what I was going to do to get that grade up, but I spent so much time thinking about what I was going to do I hardly ever actually tried to change it. Similar to my first example of why I said this song could be the theme song to my eighth grade year, I would think about what I thought my final grade in that class would look like and think whether or not re doing that assignment would help my grade in the end. I was so worried about my math finals that I forgot I had a science test and so I didn t feel good about the science test while I was taking it. And I overthought every answer I clicked on the test. Many people lost respect for that area of the company and this has hurt them as that stigma still sticks with them even after further innovations. Under Armour has not yet completely extended into the world markets yet, so they will be able to increase their profits once they become a big force in those markets. Recently there was a feud between Kevin Plank and other stock holders over a proposed stock split that would guarantee he would stay in control of the company. • 13. Igor Stravinsky, a Russian Composer Igor Stravinsky is known as one of the most important and influential composers of the twentieth century. Igor was born in Lomonosow, Russia on June 17, 1882 to Anna Kholodovsky and Fyodor Stravinsky. When Stravinsky was only three he witnessed a musician at a Russian fair singing, clicking his tongue, and making armpit noises. Igor was so excited to go try it at home. This was one of Stravinsky s first memory of music. Igor s childhood was not a good memory for him. He felt hated and neglected. Igor recalled that his schooldays no one had real attraction for him and he was always lonely. The only thing that got him through it was music and his piano lessons. In 1890, Igor heard his first orchestral performance The Sleeping Beauty. He was awestruck at the grace of the piece. That performance fueled his interest in music even more. When he was fifteen, he had mastered Mendelssohn s Piano Concerto in G minor. Stravinsky also finished a piano reduction of a string quartet by Glazunov, who allegedly thought that Igor was unmusical and considered him to have poor skills. His parents saw how much he loved music but didn t want him to pursue it as a job. They enrolled him in the University of Saint Petersburg in 1901. Stravinsky was told to become a lawyer. That was the sound of the two atomic bombs the United States of America dropped on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War 2. These two bombs were the main reason the Japanese surrendered, which led to the end of the war. The bomb at Hiroshima had a death toll of 135,000 and Nagasaki s death toll was 64,000 ( The Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ). So how are these destructive bombs made? They are made by nuclear fission. Nuclear fission is when an atom splits into two parts, either through natural decay of when instigated within a lab and it produces energy. The same can be said in criminal cases involving businesses. In the majority of cases, executives and people highly ranked in the company tend to bend the numbers in the financial/accounting areas of the business or corporation. They do not do this for fun, but rather to make money. Something needs to be done before corporations really get out of hand. Thankfully, after the EnronCorporation scandal, the government has recently started to crack down on corporations and pay more attention to what they are doing. This is due to the extent of what Enron Corp did for so long. From approximately 1996 to 2001,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Millions of people lost so much money and too many lost their life savings just because the people at the top of Enron were greedy. It seems as though the government is taking small steps in the right direction. However, I feel that more needs to be done especially because some of these companies are funding and supplying potential terrorists. The term M A also refers to the department of financial institutions that deal with mergers and acquisitions. Every merger and acquisition has its own reasons based on organizational goals. Mergers can help with entering emerging markets, cutting costs, and gaining competitive advantages. There is increased pressure for publicly traded companies to raise their earnings. If it cannot be done inside the company, they might seek to acquire companies to boost earnings. Additionally, the internet and technology advancements have brought about off shoring of white collar jobs and made merging with competitors easier. There are four stages organizations undergo when a merger is decided. The first stage of a merger and acquisition is the pre deal or pre merger and acquisition; it includes finding compatible business ventures and partners to assess potential targets and develops a plan for execution (HR Focus, 2005). Organizations planning to go through a merger or acquisition must consider the legal implications including equal employment opportunities. HR must examine the policies of both companies and ensure employees are properly trained. Training should include harassment, disability, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although there were a plethora of western films made before 1939, the film Stagecoach revolutionized the western genre by elevating the genre from a B film into a more serious genre. The film challenged not only western stereotypes but also class divisions in society. Utilizing specific aspects of mise en scГЁne and cinematography, John Ford displays his views of society. Dallas is always forgotten and all the attention is given to Mallory. In a scene where the stagecoach is headed towards Apache Wells in the cold, Hatfield s facial expressions show that he is worried and concerned whenever he looks at Lucy Mallory. Hatfield, being a gentleman, offers Lucy Mallory water and serves water to her in a fancy silver cup but does not bother to ask Dallas. However, Ringo Kid makes sure Dallas also gets a drink of water. This demonstrates that even though Hatfield is considered a gentleman, he does not show any concern for Dallas because she has a lower social status. Once the stagecoach arrives in Lordsburg, Lucy Mallory is carried out on a stretcher. At first, the camera shot is wide angled and the street is crowded with soldiers and civilians. Then there is a close up shot of Mallory on the stretcher as she speaks to Dallas. The shot reveals Mallory s facial expression of remorse. Mallory looks apologetic and offers any help to Dallas. This is one of the final scenes in the film and illustrates how Mallory s view of Dallas completely changed by the resolution of the film. The most important concerns are confidentiality, integrity and availability. In a complex and non transparent system like cloud computing, it is difficult for a user to even determine what kind of security measures are implemented in the cloud. This section presents Cryptography, as one of the security measure that can be implemented. Cryptography techniques are defined as methods that protect the data by changing the format of the data, such that it can not be understood by unauthorized users. Gray, an editor for the Canadian Medical Association, claims that marijuana needs to be legal for medical purposes and doctors should have a supply available for patients. However, Gray does not offer a convincing argument due to the amount of focus on appealing to people s emotions, while not providing supportive details, statistics , and truthful pathos. Summary Starting the article, Gray tells the story of Jean Pariseau. Jean is a patient who was told he had three months left to live, until he started smoking marijuana, which caused him to take a turn in the right direction. However, to get his marijuana he must purchase it illegally and the doctor must pretend he or she does not know about it. His previous artworks in the 1960s were also dedicated to social interactions, however, the performances relied on a large group of artists and participants. The common thread throughout Kaprow s work looks at human behavior, an attribute which has a long definitive history among human beings. Aside from our individualized daily routines, such as brushing our teeth, combing our hair, getting dressed, and so forth, our behavior has been molded into unconscious activities and events which have become otherwise taken for granted. Kaprow s Activities are performance structures, utilizing the direct life experience from small groups of untrained participants who follow the artist s script in a nontheatrical/non art context. Kaprow implicitly suggests that human beings behaviors are innate and learned. Even though the participants are unfamiliar with the activity, they are capable of following a simple script in order to successfully demonstrate a performance. As Adam Smith asserts in the preface of his book, The Theory of Moral Sentiments, when we observe the behavior of people, we do not simply experience events, we ascribe actions to agents; we pin some change in the environment on a person as an action and we do so because we think we see the person s point in making the change. The Rate Of Gross Domestic Product And Unemployment The relationship between rate of Gross Domestic Product and Unemployment Of an economy The economic power of an economy is what truly enables it to be a global ruler; furthermore a strong economy means the people are employed, successful and thriving. The best way to measure the economy s current health is to just take a look at their Gross domestic production and unemployment rate. A strong economy stands for global dominance and influence, resulting in high standards of living, decreased unemployment, and prevention from recessions, depressions and also lower the risk of inflation but is there a link between the gross domestic product and unemployment that plays a role in all this? And how does this effect the well being of an economy, also why was the Canadian recession of 2008 a proof of this direct but opposite link of GDP and unemployment. Now to connect the dots, it s easy to put out all these terms but not actually understand how they are related well the growth of GDP means there is more demand of products and if there is demand, companies need workers to make those products, hence there is lesser unemployment and the economy is growing and production rate is also increasing. If the rate growth is constantly decreasing with lesser demand and there is constant lower economic activity then the economy goes into recession. In June 2015, Representative Michael McCaul said that terrorists are sneaking into the United States through the refugee process, and the United States should protect its citizens first ( Refugee Crisis ). Between 2001 and 2015, three of 850,000 refugees were convicted of terrorist attacks (Landon, Shanti.). Marx s writing on estranged labor is an attempt to draw a stark distinction between property owners and workers. In the writing Marx argues that the worker becomes estranged from his labor because he is not the recipient of the product he creates. As a result labor is objectified, that is labor becomes the object of mans existence. As labor is objectified man becomes disillusioned and enslaved. Marx argues that man becomes to be viewed as a commodity worth only the labor he creates and man is further reduced to a subsisting animal void of any capacity of freedom except the will to labor. Marx writes, The more man puts into God the less he retains in himself....The worker puts his life into the object, but now his life no longer belongs to him but to the object. The result of the worker belonging to the object is that he is enslaved. The worker belongs to something else and his actions are dictated by that thing. For Marx, labor turns man into a means. Workers become nothing more than the capital necessary to produce a product. Labor for Marx reduces man to a means of production. As a means of production man is diminished to a subsisting enslaved creature void of his true nature. In this condition he is reduced to the most detrimental state of man: one in which he is estranged from himself. To help expand on this theme it is useful to look at Marx s allegory of man s life activity. Of the variety of reasons Marx argues man is estranged from his labor, probably the most significant is his belief that labor estranges man from himself. Marx argues that the labor the worker produces does not belong to the worker so in essence the worker does not belong to the worker. By virtue of this condition Marx argues the worker is enslaved. In the Reflection on the Revolution in France, Burke points out The revolution was made to preserve our ancient indisputable laws and liberties, and that ancient constitution of government which is our only security for law and liberty... the very idea of the fabrication of a new government is enough to fill us with disgust and horror (Burke, 117). He suggests that instead of demolishing the castle, which means to depose the former government, it is better to repair it, which means to reform and improve its imperfect parts, laws for example (Burke, 121). Thus, in his prospective, the idea of overthrowing the regime is extremely undesirable and ineffective, comparing to the idea of reforming the old system and making compromises with different political forces (Burke, 122). • 37. Compare And Contrast In Another Country And Ambush In both In Another Country by Ernest Hemingway and Ambush by Tim O Brien, there are aspects that are similar. To get a clear aspect of what both texts look at, Hemingway writes about a short story that is based on the impacts of World War I on soldiers. The short story mainly focuses on how these particular soldiers experienced the traumatic event of having to participate in the war which was both psychologically and physically harmful to them. In Ambush O Brien narrates from a first person perspective of his account when he was a soldier, the story is based on his last war story that aims at telling her daughter the truth when she gets older. The theme is similar to the one presented by Hemmingway because of the notion or concept used to develop it. The two stories were both similar in their story line which was about war. However, the main themes in both stories differ. • 39. The Importance Of A Successful Firm Is Good Communication The cornerstone to a successful firm is good communication. Without it, there is confusion, resentment, and a blurry vision for the direction the company wants to go. In order to ensure there is successful communication amongst the managers and its employees of the firm, a communication contract should be created. This contract establishes ethical communicationand rules for which each individual is to follow when communicating with others. Aside from creating excellent communication within the firm, the communication contract creates long lasting benefits for the firm and creates a solid foundation. Other communication strategies may create short term profits but do not have the long lasting benefits of an ethical communication contract. The communication contract I would propose to the firm I work for would have six clauses. They would be the immunity clause, the respect clause, the need for change clause, the switched roles clause, the bottom up clause, and the key focus clause. The immunity clause stipulates that anything said or brought about is done so without any consequence. The motivation behind this clause is that too many good suggestions or ideas or constructive criticisms are held back because employees fear that they will be reprimanded or even lose their job because of the criticism. With the immunity clause employees can share their true feelings and critiques and that will be honored rather than rebuked. A companion to the immunity clause is the respect ...
