The Indonesian National Awakening
Kebangkitan Nasional Indonesia, or the Indonesian National Awakening began in the early Twentieth
Century. The success of Indonesia s budding nationalism belongs to the ability to use existing the
institutions, urbanization and transportation around Java and Sumatra, and the otherness of
colonization. Initially groups such as Sarekat Islam were founded to fulfill community needs, but
shortly morphed into a way for the natives of the Dutch East Indies to unite and organize. Later,
students at STOVIA (School for the Training of Indonesian Doctors) began to form political and
philosophical organizations such as Boedi Oetomo, which advocated for independence of the East
Indies. Leo Suryadinata, as well as countless other Indonesian scholars, asserted that these were
essential for the formation of Nationalism in modern Indonesia. Such groups emphasized a united
Indonesia, rather than focusing on the numerous ethnicities that belong to the archipelago. This sense
of budding nationalism was encouraged during Japanese occupation. Thus, following the end of the
World War II and the return of the East Indies to the Dutch, Indonesia began a violent, five year long
war for independence. The hardships of war echoed the shared sense of identity and community
amongst Indonesians and continues to be a crucial component of Indonesian nationalism today.
Although the history of early Indonesian nationalism is generally agreed upon, there are varying
approaches following the nations

19th Century American Whisky Essay
Whisky is believed to be first created over 8,000 years ago, but is now synonymously known with
Scottish history. It is also known as one the world s most admired spirits to date. Whisky s distillation
process dates back to Mesopotamia when the Babylonians were initially creating perfumes and
aromas, and travelled vastly throughout the ancient civilizations with new variations and
developments. In the 15th century, the art of distillation spread through the United Kingdom,
especially in Ireland and Scotland in the monasteries. With the dissolve of monasteries by King Henry
VIII of England, forced the monks to not only perfect the art of distillation, but the art of smuggling
due to the punitive taxes imposed on unlicensed breweries. In the United States, whisky was used as a
method of currency during the American Revolution, but later became taxed by government causing
the infamous Whisky Rebellion. During the 19th century was the true rise of whisky worldwide.

It success is attributed to it s positioning and multifaceted use. Most whisky brands target the
emerging middle class in markets such as Asia, South America, and Africa offering tradition and
quality (Fraiser) . By making whisky affordable, it makes it the Go To drink of choice and connecting
all whisky drinkers globally. Unlike most drinks, that are seen synonymous with celebrations and
sharing amongst friends like champagne and tequila, whisky has both a social and non social identity
(Fraiser). Whisky can be drunk as way to close a business deal, or as a way to drown one s sorrows,
and for many years in movies and television have depicted this. In shows like Suits we can see 2 roles
of whisky, where the main character Harvey Spector likes to enjoy a glass of whisky when he wins a

Cannibalism Exocannibalism
In my essay, I would like to discuss cannibalism as a phenomenon in the context of socio cultural
anthropology. By exploring some of the cannibal practices prevailing in the tribal societies even until
today, I will try to put up a question if this practice is still vivid and functional way how to deal the
social order.
1. Úvod
Cannibalism, known also as anthropophagy, is one of the slowly vanishing phenomena of the modern
world. Even if it is necessarily considered taboo from the western perspective, these practices are in
some indigenous societies still part of everyday life. In the past, within some cultures cannibalism was
recognized as a barbarism and as a decline of civilization, modern anthropology goes ahead with the
debate why cannibalism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of these is survival cannibalism that is the case when people are forced to eat others flesh to keep
themselves alive. Quite often cannibalism arises from deviant... disorders. (Donely) One of this type
might be autocannibalism, which is defined as eating own flesh.
4. Amazonia
Many indigenous tribes currently living in the Amazonian jungle can still practice some forms of
cannibalism. An American anthropologist Beth Conclin thoroughly researched cultural habits, rituals
and mortuary practices among Wari. Her monography Consuming Grief can then serve as a great
primary source for analysis of cannibalism.
In the past, amongst Wari people both forms of cannibalism occurred. They practiced warfare
cannibalism as well as mortuary, however, no anthropologist has ever seen it live. Details about the
rituals itself then only come from the informants. (Conklin, 2001) This fact was actually crucial in the
following discussion about denying the existence of cannibalism.
When a Wari person passed away, they left the body to decay for around three days and then they
gathered to hold a ceremony for the deceased. For the closest kin it was forbidden to take part in the
flesh consumption, however, others did this only in order to help them overcome the mourning phase.
This very fact put the community together. (Conklin,

Nuremburg Code Of Human Cloning
Cloning is the production of one or more individual organisms that are genetically identical. The
copied organism, which has the same genetic code as the original, is called a clone. In the last two
decades, cloning technology has been becoming more refined, and has been broadly applied in
agriculture, human health, and many other fields. Breeding by cloning means being able to directly
reproduce an animal with a desirable set of genetic traits. The world s most famous clone is Dolly the
sheep, who was the first mammal to be cloned from an adult cell. This idea of being able to clone
animals was encouraged by wanting to bring back extinct animals such as the wholly mammoth and
dinosaurs, and maintain endangered species. Hence, it logically ... Show more content on

This would avoid the long waits of searching for matched organs and the fear of even when receiving

developing other treatments using non embryos cells to treat and cure diseases. Patient will be even
suffering with the pain longer. No research has confirmed that cloned organs will develop the same as
the original. During the therapeutic cloning, embryos will be killed to harvest the stem cells. Human

Vitamin and Lemon Grass
Project Title: Making of Malunggay Salad and Lemon Grass Juice I. INTRODUCTION 2.1
BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM One of the main issues that we have right now is getting the
right vitamins and nutrients to our body. How we will do this is by choosing the food that we eat.
Aside from that, we have to take consideration its cost. Can Filipino, in all walks of life, afford a
healthy meal? More Filipinos have been eating rice just to withstand empty stomach rather than eating
a balanced meal with the right amount of calories and protein. Survey also says that eating protein and
vegetables have gone down the sink since, most of the families can t afford it. Most of the Filipino

A Brief Note On Dan River Coal Ash Spill
Dan River Coal Ash Spill
On Sunday, February 2, 2014 on a cold day, a water pipe exploded under a coal ash impoundment at
Duke Energy s Dan River Power Station near Eden, North Carolina. This problem caused a lot of
commotion throughout the community, and to make matters worse, Duke Energy didn t announce this
incident until a couple of days later. Duke Energy estimated that between 50,000 to 82,000 tons of
coal ash ran into Dan River, causing it to litter and pollute with masses of debris. Duke s outrageous
proposal to fix this problem is to take money out of their customers in order to pay for the damages
caused on their behalf. Even if the lower estimates are correct, that s still 140,000 tons of toxic waste
contaminating Dan River. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The unfortunate rupture of this pipe, allowed for the pond s ash coal to slither its way through the pipe
all the way into the Dan River; massive amounts of this substance leaked into the river causing it
damage to an extreme extent. Its break allowed coal ash to drain from the pond and spill into the Dan
River. (See Figure 1) The deadly components of the coal ash contains the elements such as arsenic,
selenium, boron, and many other deadly substances that contributed to the pollution of Dan River.
Even though fatal, when combined these elements are actually very useful and resourceful since they
created electricity. In 2013 this mixture of coal ash contributed to 39 percent of the energy in the
United States. Duke Energy and many other utility companies used this coal to generate electricity by
burning it and creating a cheaper and more efficient source of energy. This incident never had a back
up plan and wasn t thought out by Duke Energy s engineers; for many years, the ash was just kept in
pits underwater near the power plants. Due to the damages and negligence of Duke Energy, they now
face a multimillion dollar problem because not only do they have to make up for the spill into Dan
River, but also they have to get rid of all of their buried ash throughout every power plant they own.
For decades, that ash simply has been buried in pits near the power plants and covered with water.

How Much Power and Liberty Did the Constitution Give to...
How much power and liberty did the constitution give to the people? The constitution is the document
that has framed and shaped the United States from inception. It is the document that is defended by all
new presidents and also the document which affords the citizens of the United States freedoms and
rights that cannot be removed. In its drafting it shaped the formation of a new country and a new style
of governance. It is a ‘bottom up as opposed to established ways of government which are ‘top
down . However for all its virtues the Constitution is somewhat ambiguous and there is some debate
of the intent of the drafters, did they intend to give as much power or did they intend to give less
power to the people? The Constitution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Electoral College is devised as to proportion the votes to the population of the states. So the
number of electors for each state is the number of house representatives and senators combined.
Therefore New York currently has 31 House representatives and 2 senators, so it has 33 electors for
the Electoral College. When Americans are voting for a President they are actually voting for a board
of electors who then vote for the president. But these electors don t have to follow what the majority
of people in that state voted for; they can if they so wish vote for another candidate. This has happened
on some occasions in the 1948 presidential election one of Tennessee s electors voted for J. Strom
Thurmond instead of voting for Harry Truman. This shows a blatant disregard for democratic
principles, as the drafters of the constitution did not want a direct link between voters and the
presidency. They did not believe that ordinary people could make sophisticated and intelligent
decisions. It shows that they had a healthy interest in their own self interest, perhaps following the
maxim of Thomas Gordon Whatever is good for the people is bad for their governors . In theory this
could still happen in modern America, as the board of electors do not have to follow what the voters
say in the election. This shows to me an evident democratic deficit. There is not just a deficit in
Congress or in the Presidency, but also in the State legislatures that is set

The Representations of Femininity in Pride and Prejudice
Jane Austen, one of the most well known 19th century novelists recognized today continues to
captivate people with stories of love and romance through the transformation of her novels into film
and television. All of her novels are about women dealing with romance, courtship, and marriage
during a repressing period. Most of her characters and stories revolve around the lives of the upper
class. It centers on the values, rituals, and manners of high society in England during the Regency Era.
Her most popular novel, Pride and Prejudice published in 1813 maintains the interest of its audiences
as it did almost two centuries earlier as evidenced by its frequent incarnations. In 1995, the British
Broadcasting Corporation produced a six ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This adaptation offers an accurate representation of the story and characters which overall offers a
beautiful visual rich in semiotics for exploration. In Roberta Grandi s article, The Passion Translated:
Literary and Cinematic Rhetoric in Pride and Prejudice, she observes that in an age when naked
bodies are overexposed and sex is common topic of discussion, costume films rediscover a taste for
visual repression. Through the concealment of the bodies and translation of their sensuality into
objects, both voyeuristic and fetishist sensations are enhanced (50) which I believe is the reason
behind the lasting appeal of period dramas. This will keep audiences, especially the younger viewers
today, engaged in the characters conversations, actions and tiny gestures in an attempt to decipher
what the characters truly feel and think as in Grandi s words, if passion is nowhere expressed it means
that passion is concealed everywhere (50). Even if the times had changed and values have become
more progressive compared to that of Jane Austen time, viewers nevertheless enjoy the passion in her

King And Douglass Similarities
Have you ever heard of the speech I Have a Dream from the late Martin Luther King Jr.?
You d be pretty sure many people have heard of it, but has anyone ever really read it and thought
about it? This could be like The Hypocrisy of American Slavery, a piece of work produced by
Frederick Douglass. They both argued that African Americans have a natural right to equality (Renfro
1). Douglass once said, The white man s happiness cannot be purchased by the black man s misery.
Here is just another point of there not being enough equality for being an African American during
those times of struggle. The fact that King and Douglass had used their oral power to try and fight
throughout their lives was a very substantial task. They are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They came to be very influential people for the people of their time and for many years up to now.
King and Douglass also had their staple in time for being great Civil Rights activists. They played key
parts in the fight to lead blacks from their lack of power and equality for themselves. Having the
struggles to deal with within slavery and segregated times, blacks wanted to band together. King was
vital in the making of acts during those times, such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 ( Martin Luther
King Jr. 2). This act was what outlawed most of the discrimination for colored people. Douglass had
his own contributions, but they were in some cases not as major as the things King put forward to gain
equality for blacks. As time went on the two began earning their unparalleled oratory skills. With the
power of just their voices and hands they were granted with so much more notoriety. Both of them
have similar oratory styles. They both had the amazing ability to move their audience to action
(Renfro 1). They were also publishers and produced many great pieces of work. Douglass published
three versions of his autobiography during his lifetime, revising and expanding on his work each time.
My Bondage and My Freedom appeared in 1855. In 1881, Douglass published Life and Times of

Common Traits And Characteristics Of Psychopaths
Area of Interest:
Common Traits and Characteristics of Psychopaths.
Research Questions:
1. What is the definition of a psychopath?
2. What is it about psychopaths that fascinate us?
3. Are there certain traits that make victims vulnerable to psychopathic manipulation?
4. What are some of the common traits of psychopaths?
Problem Statement:
Psychopaths are the group of people who kill over a longer period of time without being caught or
stopped. Unlike mass murderers, who may kill many people at one time, psychopaths usually have
reasons for killing, they will plan out where, when, why and how before they actually kill. Many enjoy
cannibalism, necrophilia, and like to keep the body parts as trophies. There violent behavior is usually

The research was obtained from limited sources which entailed internet searches and articles. The
information was gathered from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and college professors.
Hypothesis(ses):
1. If psychopathy is detected at a young age by a test given to the individual by a professional then it
is less likely for them to commit a crime in the future.
2. After being diagnosed with this personality disorder the individual can undergo treatment and
prevent future crimes.
Research Methodology:
The term psychopathy refers to a personality disorder that includes a cluster of interpersonal, affective,
lifestyle, and antisocial traits and behaviors. These involve deception; manipulation; irresponsibility;
impulsivity; stimulations seeking; poor behavior controls; shallow affect; lack of empathy, guilt, or
remorse; sexual promiscuity; callous disregard for the rights of others; and unethical and antisocial
behaviors (Babiak, et al. 2012).
A psychopath does not internalize their feelings of anxiety and guilt or fail to experience them
appropriately; instead, he lacks the fundamental understanding of what these things are. A psychopath
will try to insert himself into a crime scene, but wouldn t feel panic, shock, or horror unlike how the
other onlookers would feel. His interest would fall more on the reactions of the victims and of the
crowd. Despite this emotional deficiency, most psychopaths learn to mimic the appearance of normal
emotion well enough to

The low percentage of high school students, who successfully transition to college without requiring

The Beginning Of Modern Day Industry
The beginning of modern day industry.
More than perhaps any single person of the last century, Henry Ford can take responsibility for
creating the American consumer ethic and the American middle class. We can thank him or curse him
for what he has done, but either way, we have to acknowledge the impact Henry Ford had on our
society. When we think about it, we have to acknowledge the impact he has had on each of our
individual lives. You might not know that Henry Ford did not start out as a successful producer of
automobiles. After building his first car, the Quadricycle, and working to improve his basic design in
the prototypes that followed. In 1899 he formed the Detroit Automobile Company, which quickly
failed after only a few vehicles were produced. Henry and some of his original investors regrouped
and formed the Henry Ford Company which quickly ran into problems as well. Henry Ford was
dismissed by his board of directors from the company that carried his name because of his inability to
bring a car to production. The company was reorganized as the Cadillac Motor Car Company under
the engineering leadership of Henry Leland. In 1903 Henry Ford felt he was ready to market an
automobile for the public and the Ford Motor Company was incorporated, this time with a mere
$28,000 in cash put up by a new group of investors. That original $28,000 investment was spent down
to less than $300 before the company s first car was sold, but from that time on the company was on

the mutiny broke out in the Bengal army because of their organized defense system. The alleged
reason for the revolt was caused by enfield rifles because the sepoys were ordered to bite off the ends

Disagreements on the Negotiation Process of the Camp David...
Many disagreements would arise in the negotiation process of the Camp David Summit that would
lead it to be unsuccessful. Disagreements such as the division of territory, the dispute over Jerusalem,
Security and Refugee arrangements arose in the negotiations. However, most of the criticism for the
failure at Camp David Summit was not pressed on toward the disagreement, it was pressed on
Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat. In this paper, it will mention about blaming Arafat,
disagreement on the right of return , Disagreement on Land swap, and disagreement on the proposed
map as the reason for the failure at Camp David Summit. Most of the criticism for the failure at Camp
David negotiations was pressed on the Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat. He was the main
reason that the summit failed. In Norman G. Finkelstein s The Camp David II Negotiations: How
Dennis Ross Proved the Palestinians Aborted the Peace Process , Finkelstein wrote that the reason for
the Camp David failure is that Arafat did nothing during the negotiation; he made no concessions
while Barak made huge concessions. Norman G. Finkelstein wrote:
The essence of Ross s explanation for Camp David s failure, repeatedly set forth, is that whereas
Barak made huge concessions at Camp David, Arafat, having a tendency to pocket (p. 686), made
none: we kept moving toward
[Arafat] without much movement from him (p. 686); the summit was about to collapse. The President

Kenneth Game Research Paper
Kenneth Grahame was born on 8 March in Edinburgh, Scotland. When he was a little more than a year
old, his father, an advocate, received an appointment as sheriff substitute in Argyllshire at Inveraray on
Loch Fyne. Kenneth loved the sea and was happy there, but when he was 5, his mother died from
complications of childbirth, and his father, who had a drinking problem, gave over care of Kenneth,
his brother Willie, his sister Helen and the new baby Roland to Granny Ingles, the children s
grandmother, in Cookham Dean in the village of Cookham in Berkshire. There the children lived in a
spacious, if dilapidated, home, The Mount , on spacious grounds in idyllic surroundings, and were
introduced to the riverside and boating by their uncle, David Ingles, curate at Cookham Dean church.
This delightful ambiance, particularly Quarry Wood and the River Thames, is believed, by Peter

report was released by Association for Psychological Science, where learning techniques were
analyzed and their effectiveness explained. Some of the techniques from this report will be mentioned,
but the focus is more on how each that are presented relate to my own personal experience towards.

Within the scope of studying high school and college level subject areas, my choices among the
techniques would be represented in the methods which are described within state dependent memory
and within order effects. Consequently, rarely is the material that is studied grouped into certain
categories beyond how it is originally presented, nor is the material digested with the use of additional
aids. The most preferred methods seem to relate more with my state of consciousness. When studying
or preparing prior to a test, most definitely I will have consumed some form of caffeine. Although
wishing to be well rested, my time management and lifestyle does not always allow for this luxury.
While studying, the preference is to be within a specific environment, avoiding too many external
distractions. Even so, listening to my favorite music through my headphones, lifts my mood and
provides me the focus needed. Lastly, I enjoy being quizzed with virtual flashcards while walking
outdoors, which combines order effects technique with a state dependent method. Unfortunately, it
may not be the purest form of a state dependent method, since for example, exams are not given while
walking through a park.
Effectiveness of my personal study habits. Without controls and specific conditions, that appear
crucial to support effectiveness with any of these retention methods, it is hard to assert my preferred
choice as effective or ineffective with learning in general. With confidence, I can state that I succeeded
to achieve my desired outcome. I have been maintaining an A average majority of my educational
career. I have experienced considerable success in more recent years when I have incorporated several
of techniques mentioned above.

What Are Tattoos Research Paper
What Are Tattoos, and How Do They Work?
A tattoo is a piece of art that is permanently marked into the skin. Many ancient cultures believed that
the tattoo could provide protection against bad luck and disease, or even ward off evil spirits or
animals. They were also used to identify rank, social position, or group membership within a society.
Today, tattoos are a form of artistic expression. They sometimes tell stories, memorialize the death of
loved ones, or they may have no practical purpose at all, other than for decoration. Modern tattoos are
applied using a device that works like a small sewing machine, usually referred to as a tattoo gun.

Ancient people believed that if they were to get a tattoo of a certain animal, then they would have
protection against attacks from that animal. Also, the fiercest warriors of their time would have tattoos
that marked the significance of their battles. The same still holds true today, as tattoos are extremely
popular among our military. For instance, during WW1 and WW2 sailors would sometimes get tattoos
of propellers on their
Buttocks. This was because they believed it would bring them luck if their ship was ever sank, and
that they would hopefully not drown. Modern tattoos are applied using a handheld device that
simulates the movements of a sewing machine, most commonly referred to as a tattoo gun. A needle,
or needles is inserted into the tattoo gun, dipped in ink, and moved across the skin. The needles
rapidly move up and down, puncturing the skin and injecting colored ink. So why are tattoos
permanent? Because the ink goes so deep into the skin that it cannot be washed off? The answer may
supervise you. Tattoos are actually, similar to an infection. Every time the needle penetrates, it causes
a wound that alerts the body to begin the inflammatory process, which signal sends immune system
cells racing to the site of the wound (or multiple wounds, in the case of the five inch dragon breathing
fire across your chest).

Dividend Policy and Share Prices
Introduction
In this paper the impact of dividend policy of the companies on the firm s share prices is analysed and
different views in the context of the semi strong form of the efficient market hypothesis are contrasted.
The overview of the traditional and most recent empirical investigations of the stock market reaction
to the dividend announcements is provided and different findings are discussed and compared.
Three companies have been selected from the FTSE All share price index. These companies are Tesco,
Burberry and Vodafone. These firms belong to different sectors of the economy. Tesco is the largest

Dividend Announcements and Share Prices
Dividend announcements and their impact on share prices can be explained by the semi strong form of
the efficient market hypothesis (EMH). Efficient market hypothesis implies that the only thing that
may impact the stock prices is new information, since all other possibly influencing parameters are
already included in the firm s stock price (Palan, 2004).The efficient market hypothesis may be
divided into three forms: the weak form, the semi strong form, and the strong form. The weak form
implies that share prices bear or reflect the past prices and trade volume information, the semi strong
form adds publicly available information to the weak form, and the strong form adds even insider
information to the efficiency approach (Harder, 2008).
Empirical evidences show that successive changes in stock prices are independent and this
independence is in line with the efficient market hypothesis, as markets promptly react to the new
information (Fama et al., 1969). In this context it may be assumed that dividend announcements
convey particular positive information about the company and provide signals about future
performance of the firm. The decision about paying dividends is made by the firm s managers and
often supported by shareholders voting. Since dividend announcements bear useful information, from
the efficient market hypothesis view point this

The piece (title of piece) was choreographed by Andy Noble. This piece really stood out among the
others because of the high energy, and the use of ramps. Three ramps of different sizes were placed on
stage right. Throughout the piece, dancers ran off of and danced on them. It is so exhilarating to watch
the partnering on the ramps because everything seems to be constantly off balance. I would
characterize the first half of the piece as organized chaos. All of the sudden, everyone runs off the
stage leaving their shoes behind. The second half of the piece brought along an entirely different
feeling. With the shoes still strewn across the floor, Taylor Hennings and Todd Baker performed an
exquisite duet. The duet really completed the whole storyline of the piece. The story being conveyed is
that the first section is a war zone. Everyone is fighting and trying to survive. Then the reality hits and
they lose the battle. Two villagers come back and see all the destruction that took place, with all the
leftover shoes signaling the lives that were lost. The duet is about how important it is to hold your
over ones close and you never know when you will loose them. I think the piece overall is amazing. I
may be a bit biased, but I feel that if I was in the audience, I would be on the edge of my seat with my
mouth open throughout the entire piece. I know Andy would be proud of how far this piece has

Humorous Narrative Of Chiachaiachaiach
Humorous Narrative Chiachaiachaiach A television news broadcast interrupts a loud conversation,
everyone that had been talking stopped to listen to the next installment of the story of notorious

Learning as a Way of Life
What I Learned
We learn more by looking for the answer to a question and not finding it than we do from learning the
answer itself. People go through their whole lives trying to figure out who they are, look for a sense of
purpose or belonging, or attempt to discover the right path for them self. The lucky ones have
somehow found what ever it is they were looking for throughout their journey. They try to teach the
people who are still looking how to find their way but often fail because it is not up to them where or
how someone else should live their life. It is up to the individual himself to find fulfillment.

there are dissimilarities.

Lh Detection
The systematic review is aimed to determine what methods have been used to identify the presence of
LH in diabetes patients treated with insulin. The result of this review reveals that there is little research
evidence to support the formulation of recommendations regarding the method of detection of LH.
Forty three papers (original articles and conference abstract) were included in the review. Three
detection methods for LH are in current use namely visual inspection, palpation and ultrasound.
Fourteen papers presented use of ultrasound to detect LH and found the prevalence of
LH in the range 14.5 86.5%, compared to thirty one papers using palpation. The prevalence identified

a scientific foundation for such methods. Strengths and Limitations of the study
This is the first systematic review focusing on LH in diabetes people treated with insulin. A specific
search strategy was design and and a rigorous approach to the literature search and critical appraisal
was followed. It included all published full papers and conference abstracts found in the four major
databases in medical and nursing science, with no limitations on time of publication nor language. It
also included cases from both type I and type 2 diabetes. It covered different study designs and
encompassed research in five continents. The review includes patients using pump, syringe or pen.
The major limitation was the inadequate information due to limited published articles about LH

material was conference abstracts and case studies, reducing the information content and overall
quality. Removing low quality studies would have caused an incomplete description of

all three challenges prove to be a combined force in Helga s downfall, it is reasonable to conclude that
her social displacement provides the most detrimental impact to the success of her character in the

The Evening Redness in the West (McCarthy, 1985), published in 1985, and sets a visual imagery for
the reader to experience the book as one of the characters. Chapter four begins with the charters
heading into the desert with minimal food and supplies. Throughout the trip many men fall ill and pass

leaving only a few alive, one of them being the Kid. Blood Meridian is a novel that challenges the
myth of the western American landscape being this Promised Land for those heroic men who were
brave enough to dare to concur it. By McCarthy describing the landscape as less than attractive, the

Muscle Contraction
The next stop in our body system is the muscular system. The muscles in our body help us move all of
the organs in our body without them we would be a statue.
So first we are going to talk about 3 muscles and where they are located.
Smooth muscle
It is found in the walls of organs such as the Stomach, Oesophagus, Bronchi and in the walls of blood
vessels. This muscle type is heated by involuntary neurogenic impulses and has slow, contractions
used in controlling internal organs.
Cardiac muscle

Next we are going to talk about what happens to the muscles if you exercise too much.
Muscle fatigue is the decline in ability of a muscle to generate force. It can be a result of vigorous
exercise but abnormal fatigue may be caused by barriers to or interference with the different stages of
muscle contraction. There are two main causes of muscle fatigue.
Wow only to more topics left. Now it is time to talk about the relationship between the muscles, bones
and tendons.
Tendons connect muscle to bone, and Ligaments connect bone to bone. They help each other for
mobility, muscles are connected to bones so you can move it.
Next is the all or none response.
The all or none response means that when the brain send a signal to a muscle it fully contracts.
Thereby, a muscle is either full contracted, or not contracted at all.
Now last but not least are the 10 major muscles.
The most important muscle is the heart. Other big muscle groups are the pectoralis major (in the

The Swimmer By John Cheever
Shep Davis Mrs. Smith English 102 27 April, 2016 The Swimmer In the short story The Swimmer
John Cheever characterizes Neddy in a selfish and content manner to illustrate his detachment from
society. The swim that Neddy starts in the beginning of the play seems fun and innocent in nature. He
enjoys stopping at all of his friends and families house drinking every time after he finishes swimming
the pool. The drinking depicts his easy lifestyle, lack of care for the world, and his detachment from
society. The repetition of drinking eventually is what brings him to his cold and bewildered reality
because he has suppressed everyone around him by only wanting to swim. At the end of the story he is
left with no friends to talk with or family to care for him because he has been self centered. He also is
unaware of what has transpired while he was swimming. This displays his mindsets lack of care for
others he just wants to drink and have a good time. However as he progresses he goes further into his
loop of the pools, and he desires to swim in more and more. This loop symbolizes his life, and how he
is not progressing or doing anything important with it. He wants to just go around in circles hiding
from reality. The irony is he is left poor and all of his friends leave him. His entire image of life, and
how he wanted to live was based on himself and money. After the money disappeared so did his
companions because he was living a life that did not value relationship or care.

How Did The Great Awakening Impact On Colonial Society
The movement of the Enlightenment period and the Great Awakening period had a profound impact
on American colonial society. As a result, the Enlightenment movement and the Great Awakening

Significantly, the Enlightenment movement instigated both harmony and resistance amongst the

The Holocaust And The Nazi Regime During World War 2
The Holocaust refers to the systematic genocide of over a million Jews perpetrated by the Nazi
Regime during World War 2. Since the day it ended, historians over the world have attempted to
uncover the true reasons behind the Holocaust, leading to the prominent debate over the exact date the
Holocaust initially began. However due to a lack of considerable evidence, many opposing
interpretations of the evidence has surfaced with the creation of several schools of thought: the
Intentionalist, Functionalist and Opportunistic view. The Intentionalist view focuses complete blame
on Hitler as the evil totalitarian leader of the Third Reich. From their perspective, the Holocaust is
dated earlier, for it was always Hitler s intention to implement the premediated genocide of the Jewish
population. In contrast, the Functionalist view argues that Hitler wasn t the driving force behind the
Holocaust, but rather a weak dictator who was a willing slave to circumstance. They propose that the
Holocaust was dated later and advocate instead that an accumulation of structural factors led to the
Holocaust. Both these perspectives enhance our insight regarding the date of the Holocaust, they are
however hindered by their reliance on the interpretation of certain pieces of evidence and as such are
easily contradicted. As such the Opportunistic view offers the most comprehensive explanation, for it
synthesises both these contributions while addressing their flaws to provide the better outcome.

Do You Understand All The Risks Your Pay Programmes May...
Do you understand all the risks your pay programmes may create? Have you asked yourself the
following questions?
Do you understand all the risks your pay programmes may create?
1.Incentives are you comfortable that your plans do not encourage risky behaviour ? A steep leverage
curve can tempt reckless behaviour; executives overly focused on short term results can pose risk to
long term value creation. Separately, executives with significant shareholdings can become risk averse
and miss opportunities.
2.Termination have you assessed the tail risk? In many cases holding periods and share ownership
guidelines cease to apply enabling the executive to sell shares post employment. A large sale could
impact market sentiment and raise questions. In combination with declining business performance the
company could face accusations of payments for failure.
3.Clawback do the provisions in place provide enough protection? Depending on the nature of the
business, the event requiring clawback may not be apparent until several years in the future. The event
in question may also not even fall within the scope of the clawback provisions and the lack of ability
to act appropriately in such scenarios can pose a reputational risk to the company.
4.Recruitment/retention have you assessed the talent risk? Failing to retain key talent can pose a
significant risk to the company. Retention bonuses and emergency recruiting can pose both financial
risk and reputational risks.

  • 2. The Indonesian National Awakening Kebangkitan Nasional Indonesia, or the Indonesian National Awakening began in the early Twentieth Century. The success of Indonesia s budding nationalism belongs to the ability to use existing the institutions, urbanization and transportation around Java and Sumatra, and the otherness of colonization. Initially groups such as Sarekat Islam were founded to fulfill community needs, but shortly morphed into a way for the natives of the Dutch East Indies to unite and organize. Later, students at STOVIA (School for the Training of Indonesian Doctors) began to form political and philosophical organizations such as Boedi Oetomo, which advocated for independence of the East Indies. Leo Suryadinata, as well as countless other Indonesian scholars, asserted that these were essential for the formation of Nationalism in modern Indonesia. Such groups emphasized a united Indonesia, rather than focusing on the numerous ethnicities that belong to the archipelago. This sense of budding nationalism was encouraged during Japanese occupation. Thus, following the end of the World War II and the return of the East Indies to the Dutch, Indonesia began a violent, five year long war for independence. The hardships of war echoed the shared sense of identity and community amongst Indonesians and continues to be a crucial component of Indonesian nationalism today. Although the history of early Indonesian nationalism is generally agreed upon, there are varying approaches following the nations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. 19th Century American Whisky Essay Whisky is believed to be first created over 8,000 years ago, but is now synonymously known with Scottish history. It is also known as one the world s most admired spirits to date. Whisky s distillation process dates back to Mesopotamia when the Babylonians were initially creating perfumes and aromas, and travelled vastly throughout the ancient civilizations with new variations and developments. In the 15th century, the art of distillation spread through the United Kingdom, especially in Ireland and Scotland in the monasteries. With the dissolve of monasteries by King Henry VIII of England, forced the monks to not only perfect the art of distillation, but the art of smuggling due to the punitive taxes imposed on unlicensed breweries. In the United States, whisky was used as a method of currency during the American Revolution, but later became taxed by government causing the infamous Whisky Rebellion. During the 19th century was the true rise of whisky worldwide. When the phylloxera diminished the production of wine worldwide, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It success is attributed to it s positioning and multifaceted use. Most whisky brands target the emerging middle class in markets such as Asia, South America, and Africa offering tradition and quality (Fraiser) . By making whisky affordable, it makes it the Go To drink of choice and connecting all whisky drinkers globally. Unlike most drinks, that are seen synonymous with celebrations and sharing amongst friends like champagne and tequila, whisky has both a social and non social identity (Fraiser). Whisky can be drunk as way to close a business deal, or as a way to drown one s sorrows, and for many years in movies and television have depicted this. In shows like Suits we can see 2 roles of whisky, where the main character Harvey Spector likes to enjoy a glass of whisky when he wins a huge case, or after having a extensive and arduous day at the ... • 4. Cannibalism Exocannibalism In my essay, I would like to discuss cannibalism as a phenomenon in the context of socio cultural anthropology. By exploring some of the cannibal practices prevailing in the tribal societies even until today, I will try to put up a question if this practice is still vivid and functional way how to deal the social order. 1. Úvod Cannibalism, known also as anthropophagy, is one of the slowly vanishing phenomena of the modern world. Even if it is necessarily considered taboo from the western perspective, these practices are in some indigenous societies still part of everyday life. In the past, within some cultures cannibalism was recognized as a barbarism and as a decline of civilization, modern anthropology goes ahead with the debate why cannibalism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of these is survival cannibalism that is the case when people are forced to eat others flesh to keep themselves alive. Quite often cannibalism arises from deviant... disorders. (Donely) One of this type might be autocannibalism, which is defined as eating own flesh. 4. Amazonia Many indigenous tribes currently living in the Amazonian jungle can still practice some forms of cannibalism. An American anthropologist Beth Conclin thoroughly researched cultural habits, rituals and mortuary practices among Wari. Her monography Consuming Grief can then serve as a great primary source for analysis of cannibalism. In the past, amongst Wari people both forms of cannibalism occurred. They practiced warfare cannibalism as well as mortuary, however, no anthropologist has ever seen it live. Details about the rituals itself then only come from the informants. (Conklin, 2001) This fact was actually crucial in the following discussion about denying the existence of cannibalism. When a Wari person passed away, they left the body to decay for around three days and then they gathered to hold a ceremony for the deceased. For the closest kin it was forbidden to take part in the flesh consumption, however, others did this only in order to help them overcome the mourning phase. This very fact put the community together. • 5. Nuremburg Code Of Human Cloning Cloning is the production of one or more individual organisms that are genetically identical. The copied organism, which has the same genetic code as the original, is called a clone. In the last two decades, cloning technology has been becoming more refined, and has been broadly applied in agriculture, human health, and many other fields. Breeding by cloning means being able to directly reproduce an animal with a desirable set of genetic traits. The world s most famous clone is Dolly the sheep, who was the first mammal to be cloned from an adult cell. This idea of being able to clone animals was encouraged by wanting to bring back extinct animals such as the wholly mammoth and dinosaurs, and maintain endangered species. Hence, it logically ... • 7. A Brief Note On Dan River Coal Ash Spill Dan River Coal Ash Spill On Sunday, February 2, 2014 on a cold day, a water pipe exploded under a coal ash impoundment at Duke Energy s Dan River Power Station near Eden, North Carolina. This problem caused a lot of commotion throughout the community, and to make matters worse, Duke Energy didn t announce this incident until a couple of days later. Duke Energy estimated that between 50,000 to 82,000 tons of coal ash ran into Dan River, causing it to litter and pollute with masses of debris. Duke s outrageous proposal to fix this problem is to take money out of their customers in order to pay for the damages caused on their behalf. Even if the lower estimates are correct, that s still 140,000 tons of toxic waste contaminating Dan River. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The unfortunate rupture of this pipe, allowed for the pond s ash coal to slither its way through the pipe all the way into the Dan River; massive amounts of this substance leaked into the river causing it damage to an extreme extent. Its break allowed coal ash to drain from the pond and spill into the Dan River. (See Figure 1) The deadly components of the coal ash contains the elements such as arsenic, selenium, boron, and many other deadly substances that contributed to the pollution of Dan River. Even though fatal, when combined these elements are actually very useful and resourceful since they created electricity. In 2013 this mixture of coal ash contributed to 39 percent of the energy in the United States. Duke Energy and many other utility companies used this coal to generate electricity by burning it and creating a cheaper and more efficient source of energy. This incident never had a back up plan and wasn t thought out by Duke Energy s engineers; for many years, the ash was just kept in pits underwater near the power plants. Due to the damages and negligence of Duke Energy, they now face a multimillion dollar problem because not only do they have to make up for the spill into Dan River, but also they have to get rid of all of their buried ash throughout every power plant they own. For decades, that ash simply has been buried in pits near the power plants and covered with water. Now, in North ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The constitution is the document that has framed and shaped the United States from inception. It is the document that is defended by all new presidents and also the document which affords the citizens of the United States freedoms and rights that cannot be removed. In its drafting it shaped the formation of a new country and a new style of governance. It is a ‘bottom up as opposed to established ways of government which are ‘top down . However for all its virtues the Constitution is somewhat ambiguous and there is some debate of the intent of the drafters, did they intend to give as much power or did they intend to give less power to the people? So the number of electors for each state is the number of house representatives and senators combined. Therefore New York currently has 31 House representatives and 2 senators, so it has 33 electors for the Electoral College. When Americans are voting for a President they are actually voting for a board of electors who then vote for the president. But these electors don t have to follow what the majority of people in that state voted for; they can if they so wish vote for another candidate. This has happened on some occasions in the 1948 presidential election one of Tennessee s electors voted for J. Strom Thurmond instead of voting for Harry Truman. This shows a blatant disregard for democratic principles, as the drafters of the constitution did not want a direct link between voters and the presidency. They did not believe that ordinary people could make sophisticated and intelligent decisions. It shows that they had a healthy interest in their own self interest, perhaps following the maxim of Thomas Gordon Whatever is good for the people is bad for their governors . In theory this could still happen in modern America, as the board of electors do not have to follow what the voters say in the election. This shows to me an evident democratic deficit. The Representations of Femininity in Pride and Prejudice Jane Austen, one of the most well known 19th century novelists recognized today continues to captivate people with stories of love and romance through the transformation of her novels into film and television. After being diagnosed with this personality disorder the individual can undergo treatment and prevent future crimes. Research Methodology: The term psychopathy refers to a personality disorder that includes a cluster of interpersonal, affective, lifestyle, and antisocial traits and behaviors. These involve deception; manipulation; irresponsibility; impulsivity; stimulations seeking; poor behavior controls; shallow affect; lack of empathy, guilt, or remorse; sexual promiscuity; callous disregard for the rights of others; and unethical and antisocial behaviors (Babiak, et al. 2012). A psychopath does not internalize their feelings of anxiety and guilt or fail to experience them appropriately; instead, he lacks the fundamental understanding of what these things are. A psychopath will try to insert himself into a crime scene, but wouldn t feel panic, shock, or horror unlike how the other onlookers would feel. More than perhaps any single person of the last century, Henry Ford can take responsibility for creating the American consumer ethic and the American middle class. We can thank him or curse him for what he has done, but either way, we have to acknowledge the impact Henry Ford had on our society. When we think about it, we have to acknowledge the impact he has had on each of our individual lives. You might not know that Henry Ford did not start out as a successful producer of automobiles. After building his first car, the Quadricycle, and working to improve his basic design in the prototypes that followed. In 1899 he formed the Detroit Automobile Company, which quickly failed after only a few vehicles were produced. Henry and some of his original investors regrouped and formed the Henry Ford Company which quickly ran into problems as well. Henry Ford was dismissed by his board of directors from the company that carried his name because of his inability to bring a car to production. The company was reorganized as the Cadillac Motor Car Company under the engineering leadership of Henry Leland. In 1903 Henry Ford felt he was ready to market an automobile for the public and the Ford Motor Company was incorporated, this time with a mere $28,000 in cash put up by a new group of investors. Also, the fiercest warriors of their time would have tattoos that marked the significance of their battles. The same still holds true today, as tattoos are extremely popular among our military. For instance, during WW1 and WW2 sailors would sometimes get tattoos of propellers on their Buttocks. This was because they believed it would bring them luck if their ship was ever sank, and that they would hopefully not drown. Dividend Announcements and Share Prices Dividend announcements and their impact on share prices can be explained by the semi strong form of the efficient market hypothesis (EMH). Efficient market hypothesis implies that the only thing that may impact the stock prices is new information, since all other possibly influencing parameters are already included in the firm s stock price (Palan, 2004).The efficient market hypothesis may be divided into three forms: the weak form, the semi strong form, and the strong form. The weak form implies that share prices bear or reflect the past prices and trade volume information, the semi strong form adds publicly available information to the weak form, and the strong form adds even insider information to the efficiency approach (Harder, 2008). Empirical evidences show that successive changes in stock prices are independent and this independence is in line with the efficient market hypothesis, as markets promptly react to the new information (Fama et al., 1969). In this context it may be assumed that dividend announcements convey particular positive information about the company and provide signals about future performance of the firm. The decision about paying dividends is made by the firm s managers and often supported by shareholders voting. The lucky ones have somehow found what ever it is they were looking for throughout their journey. Since the day it ended, historians over the world have attempted to uncover the true reasons behind the Holocaust, leading to the prominent debate over the exact date the Holocaust initially began. However due to a lack of considerable evidence, many opposing interpretations of the evidence has surfaced with the creation of several schools of thought: the Intentionalist, Functionalist and Opportunistic view. The Intentionalist view focuses complete blame on Hitler as the evil totalitarian leader of the Third Reich. From their perspective, the Holocaust is dated earlier, for it was always Hitler s intention to implement the premediated genocide of the Jewish population. In contrast, the Functionalist view argues that Hitler wasn t the driving force behind the Holocaust, but rather a weak dictator who was a willing slave to circumstance. They propose that the Holocaust was dated later and advocate instead that an accumulation of structural factors led to the Holocaust. Both these perspectives enhance our insight regarding the date of the Holocaust, they are however hindered by their reliance on the interpretation of certain pieces of evidence and as such are easily contradicted. As such the Opportunistic view offers the most comprehensive explanation, for it synthesises both these contributions while addressing their flaws to provide the better outcome. ...
