What Are Redwood Memories
RUSSIAN RIVER The essence of Redwood, that one scent could retrieve hundreds of memories.
These memories were me. They are like building blocks, each is why I would act in each
circumstance, like a building in an earthquake. This one is special why I m a little different than what I
was a few months back.... on we I don t think we need that many bottles of water on the trip.
explained my mom Whoosh! That was me sliding on the tiles to get to my closet so I could stuff my
bag with clothes. It s like every blue moon we would go on a trip, so when I heard the word trip, I was
already stuffing my bag. We were leaving the next day, so maybe looking for things to entertain me
would probably be smart? Nope! Adding things to bag

The Book of Love
Andrew s eyes flicked up, catching sight of her face. He swallowed, forcing his heart to not fully
pound straight out of his chest. He shoved his chair back, kicking off with his feet. Standing up his
eyes, a bright blue caught between a clear gray based blue and a weirdly vibrant electric blue, found
her face. And that wall, that steel strong wall he d built around his heart and emotion came tumbling
down. Crashing in a haze of love, hate and anger. Years of work, undone in seconds just by looking at
her. Andrew s eyes found her nut brown ones. Olivia. he spoke, his voice thick on his tongue. Her face
said it all. Regret for coming her. Pain from seeing him again. And something else even his years of
profiler training couldn t seem to place, a first for the FBI Agent. He paused to eye the bullpen before
he lead her into the hallway of the building. Tan walls stared back at him as he crossed his arms ove
his chest. It s been what, eleven years since you left me? He spoke, his voice cold. Her eyes blinked,
her head titled to the side. Eleven and a half almost to the date. Techcally two since we last spoke

The Effects Of Sporting Events On Soccer 2010
The stadium was shaking with the thunderous cheers of fans supporting their countries. The
excitement grew as coaches gave last minute instructions to their players. The kick off of the 1966
World Cup, held in England, in which Germany versed England, was moments away. The whistle
blew and the match was on. The first ninety minutes of the match were an exciting battle and the game
ended in a 0 0 score; on to overtime! According to an article written Zoe Doherty During the final,
with eleven minutes gone in extra time, Alan Ball crossed to George Hurst whose subsequent shot
cannoned off the underside of the goal and down either just on or over the goal line. The goal was
controversially allowed, and its validity is still questioned to this day. (Goal line technology in soccer
2010) Controversy has always played a major role in the officiating of sporting events since the
official s decisions are based upon their judgments and observations. Maybe in 1966 that had to be the
case, but today, thanks to modern technology, that s not so. Rather than relying solely on their personal
observations to determine a call, soccer officials are now being assisted by goal line technology, a tool
to assist them making their official rulings during a game. According to the Fédération Internationale
de Football Association, known as FIFA, which is the international governing body of the association
of soccer, goal line technology is, A technical means of instantly determining

The Common Deadly Vector Disease
Other types of diseases have emerged in the current 21st century to make up for the Y.peteris bacteria.
Deadly vector borne diseases, including malaria and dengue are those diseases that are in line with the
plague. The origin of these disease spreading bacteria and viruses are still a mystery. Consider malaria,
the most common deadly vector disease, its symptoms were described in ancient
Chinese medical writings. In 2700 BC, Nei Ching described some of its characteristic symptoms.
Malaria also made its way through Greece and
Hippocrates also recorded its symptoms in his books and by the age of Pericles malaria was being
recognized a major disease o the era at least in the rural areas in
Greece (The History of Malaria). Similarly, as dengue virus s history goes The first record of a case of
probable dengue fever is in a Chinese medical encyclopedia from the Jin Dynasty (265 420 AD)
which referred to a water poison associated with flying insects. The first recognized Dengue
epidemics occurred almost simultaneously in Asia, Africa, and North America in the 1780s, shortly
after the identification and naming of the disease in 1779. The first confirmed case report dates from
1789 and is by Benjamin Rush, who coined the term break bone fever because of the symptoms of
myalgia and arthralgia

Power in Congress Essay
Power In and Over Congress
I feel the system is biased because there are inequalities among the representation and participation of
interest groups and constituents in the political system. Unfortunately, poor and uneducated citizens
aren t as organized as interest groups, lobbyists and PACs because they lack the money, resources and
connections necessary to influence congress members on legislative bills. It is evident that, businesses,
interest groups and labor unions are spending more than $100 million a month to lobby the federal
government (Associated Press, SFC, 3/7/98). The actual population of interest groups in Washington
surely reflects that there is a class bias in the membership of interest groups (JBG).

In my opinion, I feel that constituents have power over congress members because they have the
power to vote them in or out of office. On the other hand, I feel that voting constituents have the least
amount of influence over congress members, who strive for money contributions in order to, run their
political campaigns, compared to donors and PACs.
Gallegos 2
Wayne, Lasser, Miller and others tend to agree that lobbyists and PACs have a great amount of
influence over congress members because they may have direct connections and give campaign
contributions. Recently, the airlines industry convinced congress to pass a $15 billion aid package it
needs in order to survive. The airlines had plenty of resources to draw on: 27 in houses lobbyists,
augmented by lobbyists from 42 Washington firms, including former White House aides and
transportation secretaries, as well as the airlines own chief executives and corporate board members,
whom all are well known in the halls of congress (Wayne, NYT, 10/01/01. Lasser, American Politics,
1999. Miller, The American Prospect, 10/23/00. Geiger, Washington Post, 11/4 10/91.)
I feel that money is an important factor to lobbyist whose connection with people at the top is crucial.
Representative Lloyd Doggett agrees that in most cases, All the lobbying is focused on a handful of
people at the top (Wayne, NYT, 10/01/01). It seems to me that major corporations have an easier time

The Pros And Cons Of Standardized Testing
There is a major controversy over standardized achievement testing that has now called for students,
parents, educators, and communities to become involved. The United States is lacking in education
from a worldwide viewpoint. The United States currently ranks 17th among 50 other global education
systems (Gayathri). If America continues to fall behind, then the educational gap between races will
continue to expand. Is the solution to the United States falling behind globally? It s to increase
standardized tests.
Standardized tests play a major role in education today, whether they are achievement tests measuring
subject specific knowledge or aptitude tests measuring scholastic readiness. The goal of the
assessments is to provide a yardstick to evaluate student performance across state standards.
(Concordia University Portland 2017)
The No Child Left Behind Act and the Common Core State Standards Initiative are prominent
examples of test based accountability policies. The practice has ignited a debate about their
effectiveness and how well this kind of test measures student achievement. (Concordia University
Portland 2017)
A standardized test is an examination that s scored and administered in a predetermined manner.
(Popham 1999) Present day, standardized test is ...any objective test, or combination of objective and
performance tests, that yields the same score for the same performance, no matter who is doing the

The Road Of Serfdom By Hayek
In his book The Road to Serfdom, Hayek laments the tendency towards central planning in western
societies after the World Wars as a refusal of the principles of personal freedom. To him the only
substitute of the abandoned road of liberalism and individualism, the basic ideas on which western
civilization has been built (16), will be totalitarianism or even worse, fascism. Individualism,
according to Hayek, grows from Christianity and classical western philosophy that based on the
recognition for the value of individual as such (17). To acknowledge individual values require respect
for his personal opinions, tastes and choices. Individualism serves as the philosophical foundation of
liberalism. By providing men with the right to make decisions over their own life, a market economy
creates a space for individual values to be realized. Operating through a competition mechanism that
presupposes freedom of choices, the market system unleashes the power of individual talents to create
a spontaneous order (21). Hayek believes that the free market not only generates prosperity, but comes
with such economic freedom is personal and political freedom that in turn safeguards individual
autonomy (21 23). The spontaneous force of individuals in a liberal society needs time to manifest its
power, but the very success of liberalism has rendered the society both impatient with its slow
progress and confident to seek alternatives (23): the abundance we already enjoy boots the

Persuasive Essay About Cheating
Everyone Does It For most, it is their worst nightmare to be caught in situations of misconduct.
Starting with a simple problem an unfinished test or loneliness ,these situations entice an act of terrible
character. In most instances, the immoral choice stem from a yearning of something positive: a
passing grade, attention, a win by attaining what they want. Although it can make a heart race, this act
does not risk bodily injury (nothing similar to skydiving or roller coasters). The act is not not
revealing a crush or stumbling over words during a public speech; it is sinister, scandalous, and
selfish. Most do it, yet all fear it cheating. The last five minutes of class flew by, and with seven
unanswered questions there are only a few options: leave them blank, copy the answers of the closest
person, or guess. These choices are black and white; two choices are good while the latter is unethical.
Since cheating is trivial to most students, they go with that choice. Cheating requires less work and is
a considerably easy task to accomplish, and teachers take it seriously. In the directions before a test
these words are always mentioned, No phones, no talking, keep your eyes to yourselves. Cheating will
result in a zero. The only person you hurt is yourself. Although the last statement leaves the listener
with a feeling of unease and disdain for the cheating they have committed at any point in their life, the
statement is not always true.
The instance of cheating at school

Essay On Raiders Night
Long nights playing football
The book, Raiders Night by Robert Lipsyte was a very different book compared to other 9th grade
books. While you guys might feel that your gonna read how a guy gets a scholarship and wins a
championship but this book proves that not every sports book is the same. If you go to the library, and
pick any book off the shelf. I doubt you ll find one involving drugs and steroids. At the same time it
was a great book, I loved the intensity on how Matt has everything he needs but now needs to learn
how to put away his distractions and stay focused. For me it was very easy to relate in life, I was never
the big guy that everyone knew. I was just there for football nothing else. I liked the book a lot
because of its intensity, its interesting organization of the book, and it s way how the formed the
characters.
The raiders night was taken place in a town called Nearmont takes us through the eyes of a football
team and how flaws can make a team better than it already was. Matt an 18 year old is starting his
senior year of high school. He is the captain of the Raiders it seems as though he has everything in the
world, good grades, girls, football, but when an event happens that could change his whole life. What
is the captain suppose to do about it? Should we have stopped it, he thought? Could we have? ... Show

Who does that help? The Fantastic descriptions of the characters made it easy to follow the intense
book. The book problems dealt with and problems people deal with everyday. How there are pros and

Tolstoy s Perspective on Women s Rights as Depicted in...
Vengeance is mine; I will repay, states the darkly foretelling epigraph of Leo Tolstoy s famous novel
Anna Karenina. Throughout the work, the author seems torn between feminist and misogynist
sympathies, leading one to wonder if the above quote is directed at the adulterous Anna the only
character in the novel who pays for her transgressions with her life. At first, Tolstoy seems to
sympathize with Anna, contrasting her situation with that of her brother Stiva, who has also committed
adultery but received no social chastisement. But by the end of the novel it s almost as though the
author feels he has allowed Anna to get away with too much, and must teach the reader a lesson about
such behavior from a woman. Anna s last mention in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everything about her was enchanting, muses Kitty, but there was something terrible and cruel in her
charm (97). Anna has not yet strayed from her marriage, but apparently the mere thought of it is
enough to transform her from loving and attentive to cruel and heartless.
Naturally, Anna and Vronsky begin to have an affair, which Alexis Karenin, Anna s husband,
discovers. Our lives are bound together not by men but by God. This bond can only be broken by a
crime, and that kind of crime brings its punishment, he warns her (173), in an allusion back to the
novel s epigraph and a foreshadowing of Anna s eventual fate. They agree to live together as though
nothing were wrong in order to keep up appearances, but after a time Anna demands divorce and
Karenin consents on the grounds that Anna give up all rights to their son Serezha. She cannot bring
herself to do this, and they live as before for a time until Anna gives birth to a daughter fathered by
Vronsky. The birth is a difficult one, and Anna is convinced she will die in labor. She does in fact live,
but the doctor tells her she will never bear more children. Seemingly, Tolstoy intends sterility to be
Anna s punishment for having flouted societal norms.
Vronsky and Anna flee to Italy in an attempt to live a more normal life. After some time there, it
becomes quite apparent that the Anna we met at the beginning of the story is not the Anna we have
now.

Nicole Brown Simpson Research Paper
At 12:10 a.m. on June 13, 1994, the bodies of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were
found by Los Angeles Police brutally murdered. Steven Schwab, a neighbor of Nicole, was out with
his dog late at night going for a walk. While they were walking, Schwab came across a dog with blood
on its paws. The dog followed Schwab back to his house, neighbors of Schwab Sukru Boztepe and
Bettina Rasmussen offered to keep the dog overnight. The dog, named Kato was barking and running
around all night. The couple decided to let the dog out and see what he was so wound up about. Kato
led the couple to Nicole s house where they found Nicole and her boyfriend, Ron, dead.
Soon after the bodies were found, the police started looking for OJ Simpson, father of Nicole s
children and former husband to Nicole. Around 11 p.m., a limousine driver named Allan Park, was
buzzing Simpsons intercom trying to get ahold of him so he could take Simpson to LAX for a flight he
would soon be late for. Simpson eventually comes out and tells Park that he overslept. Park drops him

Letter From Birmingham Jail Rhetorical Analysis
In Martin Luther King s A Letter from Birmingham Jail , the rhetorical appeals of kairos, logos and
especially pathos are implied heavily throughout the piece, effectively responding to the absurdity of
the eight clergymen s letter and to the civil disobedience displayed in the racial protests. Over the
course of the letter, MLK makes multiple allusions to ancient philosophers, such as Socrates and
Aquinas, as well as Bible verses and their lessons. King establishes himself as someone who is
educated in the events happening in the community of Birmingham. Providing endless examples of
personal anecdotes and details of the horrific events that he finds upsetting supports his knowledge on
the civil disobedience. We have waited for more than 340 years for our constitutional and God given
rights. (Language Acts!175) MLK s progress embodies respect and dignity, however because of the
emotional appeals he is drawn to fight for the cause, and will not remain inactive.
Martin Luther King relies on his extensive use of pathos to pull sympathy and guilt from the audience,
the clergymen and people of Birmingham. The major moments of pathos in Letter from Birmingham
Jail come in the parts about the suffering of the African American community. In order for MLK s
argument to make sense, he supplied personal anecdotes for the audience to understand why the
situation is unjust. So he gives a vivid picture of what Black Americans had to go through in the
segregated South. ...when you suddenly find your tongue twisted and your speech stammering as you
seek to explain to your six year old daughter why she can t go to the public amusement park that has
just been advertised on television, and see tears welling up in her eyes when she is told that Funtown
is closed to colored children. ( Language Acts!) I find the above section to evoke the most empathy (in
my eyes) because it speaks to the child; the effects of racism and segregation on those too young to
understand. It also opens the eyes as to the bitterness segregation bred in those children to the
clergymen, whom work directly with them and for the children to be told no , to be told you can t , to
be cheated of dreams and hopes, and to be made to feel hopeless. This

Crash Of The Century Anthropology
A primary source that I found that relates with our course theme of horror and my concentration of the
unknown and unexpected is a documentary called Crash of the Century. This documentary was
created by Discovery World based on a true story. This documentary covers the unknown line of
events that led up to the fatal collision of two fully loaded Boeing 747s. On March 27, 1977, a KLM
747 and a Pan Am 747 were on route to the Gran Canaria International Airport when unexpected calls
were made by Canary Island Separatists that there were bombs at the airport. Authorities closed down
Gran Canaria International Airport and had to divert all flights to a small airport in Los Rodeos. In
total 5 large aircrafts were diverted to this small regional airport that couldn t easily accommodate the
aircrafts. Eventually after almost 4 hours from the original diversion, the KLM was cleared to go the
full length of a runway and do a 180° turn. The Pan Am flight was instructed to follow the KLM but
take the 3rd exit off the runway to their left. The Pan Am passed the 3rd exit off the runway and the
KLM began taking off without proper clearance. Nobody that day could ve predicted that the effects
of an airport closing due to a bomb threat would cause the horrific disaster of two Boeing 747s to
collide and create the worst disaster in aviation history. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Italian Unification Essay
During the 18th century, intellectual changes began to dismantle traditional values and institutions.
Liberal ideas from France and Britain spread rapidly, and from 1789 the French Revolution became
the genesis of liberal Italians . A series of political and military events resulted in a unified kingdom of
Italy in 1861. The settlements reached in 1815 at the Vienna Congress had restored Austrian
domination over the Italian peninsula but had left Italy completely fragmented . The Congress had
divided the territory among a number of European nations and the victors of the Napoleonic Wars. The
Kingdom of Sardinia recovered Piedmont (Piemonte), Nice, and Savoy and acquired Genoa.

The wars of unification were an important stage in the development of Europe. The modern world was
shaped back then by the revolutionaries of this time period. The strong leaders; Bismarck, Guiseppe
Garibaldi, and Camillo Cavour led their countries to a great thing, unification.
Giuseppe Mazzini, an Italian patriot spearheaded a national revolutionary movement. Mazzini s
ideology of an independent integrated republic spread quickly among large segments of the Italian
people. Revolutionary cells formed throughout the Italian peninsula.
Massive reforms that took place during the 1840s in the Papal States, Lucca, Tuscany, and the
Kingdom of Sardinia were intended to slow the revolutionary movements, instead these reforms (1846
and 1847) only intensified the resolve of the revolutionary cells culminating in the Revolutions of
1848, that spread to Germany, the Austrian Empire, France, and parts of northern Italy.
The first revolution on the Italian peninsula took place in the Kingdom of Sicily, which resulted in a
constitution for the whole kingdom. An insurrection in 1848 caused pope Pius IX to flee Rome and a
republic was proclaimed. King Charles Albert of Sardinia mobilized his army and marched to the
assistance of Lombardy and joined in the war to drive the Austrians from Italian soil.
While it initially looked as if the independence and unity of Italy was a realistic possibility, the
Austrians defeated the Piedmontese and Charles Albert had to abdicate.

Privacy And Its Effect On Society
Everyone is entitled to a certain level of privacy in regards to their personal information. However,
there is the constant increase and enhancement in technology and the growing value of information for
use in decision making. Between these two facts, the definition of privacy becomes unclear and allows
people to gather information that one might deem confidential. Privacy has been manipulated in
efforts claiming that as long as it is beneficial in the long run to a wholesome amount of people then it
is allowed. There are multiple forces to maintain personal information and ensure everyone s private
data is not breached. Technology allows culture to evolve by creating solutions to problems by
removing constraints that exist. Every invention or concept is expanded on to create the utmost perfect
solution. Although this process can take decades, or even centuries, to actually develop a proficient
resolution, the end result is what advances society industrially. There are conflicting views, however,
if these advances are beneficially or maliciously affecting society (Coget). New types of data such as
your habits, whereabouts, and daily routines are just a handful of the things that technology can now

The Mysterious Plot Of Neil Graves s Death In Kingsport
The novel, Death in Kingsport, has an interesting, yet mysterious plot. I selected this novel because it
is my first time reading a book in this particular style. Prior to reading this novel, I knew that the book
was about a boy who investigated his uncle s mysterious death. As the book begins, Neil Graves, the
main character, is at his Uncle s funeral paying his respects, when suddenly, he hears noises coming
from the coffin. This key event then sparks his investigation. This novel takes place in a small town
called Kingsport, during the year of 1941. The story is written with Neil s point of view, meaning that
his thoughts and experiences are expressed to the reader. This novel seems to have good content and
rather relatable characters, which makes it pleasurable to read. ... Show more content on

characters to make references to places near the setting, and use the features of the setting to make the
plot more interesting. As mentioned before, the first conflict is when Neil hears noises coming from
his Uncle s coffin is at his funeral. The author has a clever way of getting the reader to read on by
introducing new, surprising events at the end of each chapter. The introduced supporting characters,
setting and conflicts all contribute to make this novel an overall decent

His goal now is to identify the back log of orders and get them through the bottlenecks, get them

the underlying causes of their present parts pile up at the bottlenecks is because the operator cannot
tell the difference between a bottleneck destined part and an ordinary one. The operator, in an attempt

Jonah shows that they can use the same method to develop a release system for materials throughout
the system. By knowing when the bottleneck parts will reach final assembly, the release of the non
bottleneck materials can be timed to coincide along the other routes. Then Jonah indicates that after
load balancing is performed to meet market demand without excess production, the next logical step is
to reduce the batch sizes to reduce the total capital commitment used during production. Reduction in
batch sizes also reduces the total time spent in work in process. Less time spent in production
increases the speed of throughput as well as a faster turn around on customer orders. Shorter lead
times result in better response to the market demands. (Jackson, Goldratt, Cox, American Media

been shipping a record number of orders in a record amount of time. All of the orders past the

The Friar and the Pardoner The Canterbury Tales, retold by Geraldine McCaughrean, is composed of
many stories told by different characters on the road to Canterbury. On their pilgrimage, each of the
characters tells a different story in a contest to win a free dinner when they get to Canterbury. Many of
the tales have similar morals, but the tellers are very different, such as the tales of the Friar and the
Pardoner. Though both of these tales have a similar plot and can be interpreted in a similar way, their
tellers are significantly different. Although the Friar and the Pardoner are very different people, they
both have a similarly structured story, using a symbolic demons as the antagonist, and with very
similar plotlines. In the Pardoner s Tale, three unintelligent men want to find and murder someone
named Death who is killing many people. The three men stumble upon a pot of gold, which happens
to be Death s pot of gold. They all split the money in the pot and become rich. While one of the three
leaves to buy wine to celebrate their fortune, the two guarding the gold become greedy and plot to kill
the other so they can keep his gold. However, the one who left had a similar idea, and poisons the
wine he brings to dinner. That night, the two who guarded the gold kill the other one, but then drink

Computer Networking and Communication
A computer networking and data network is a telecommunication network that allows the computers
on a network may be linked through cables, telephone lines, radio waves, satellites, or infrared light
beams. This facilitates communication and resources sharing within huge amount of people in deferent
location. Best known as Internet, is the computer network established using either cable media or
wireless media. The only system been used before 19th century was postal system, and it would take
several days depending distance between sender and the receiver. But now a day by the access of
Internet you can communicate with people within seconds, and doesn t matter where they live or the
distance between sender and receiver. Back in days, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But using this entire social network human is becoming less emotional and sometimes your life cannot
be private anymore. Advance technologies and networking are leading us to lack of job in society.
Before we used to see a person called postman but now a day we no longer use this postal system.
Now a day in countries like United State people use online shopping, and the reason often obtain by
people is because online shopping saves them time and money. They find more offers online, but as a
result there are less shops and less shop means less people working in those shops. Internet and
computers are considering being addictive, same as alcohol and drugs. Internet addiction is a huge
problem facing our world right now, specially in countries like South Korea, where over 210,000
children are internet addicted who spends up to 18 hours a day on the internet. According to Professor
Susan Greenfield of Oxford University christened this infantalisation or childlike behavior due to a
lack of social skills. The reduced social interaction that occurs due to increased use of communications
technology can result in a lack of social learning. Common courtesy such as tact, politeness and
listening skills may become obsolete . For students, Internet is the best way to conduct their research

Rosen presented his study at the 119th American Psychological Association Convention in
Washington DC. His findings are based on survey responses from computer based surveys distributed
to 1,000 urban adolescents and his own 15 minute observation of 300 teenagers that were studying.
Rosen said in a presentation title Poke Me: How Social Network can both Help and Harm Our Kids.
He said his research found both negative and positive influences linked to social networking.
Rosen s top three potential negative effects of Facebook; 1. Teenager who use Facebook more often
show narcissistic tendencies while young adults who have a strong Facebook presence show more
sign of other psychological disorders, including antisocial behaviours, mania, and aggressive
tendencies. 2. Daily over use media and technology has a negative effect on the health of all children,
preteens, an teenagers by making them more susceptible to future health problems 3. Facebook can be
distracting and can negatively impact learning. Studies found that middle school, high school, and
college students who checked Facebook at least once during a 15 minute study period achieved lower
grades.

What It Takes With Illegally Cross The U.s. -mexico Border
What it Takes to Illegally Cross the U.S. Mexico Border
It is the human nature to have a need to build a superior future for oneself and one s families. In cases
where people believe that they are not in a decent place and their future by all accounts is in shambles,
they are more willing to take risks and hopefully move to a better point. The same theory applies to
the people who are seeking to illegally enter the U.S. Many of those people have been disappointed
with the failings and shortcomings of their government. In addition, the expansion of drug cartel in the
country and rising violence has people on their knees deep in poverty without any opportunity to earn
and thrive. Thus, they see the neighboring country, the U.S., as their ... Show more content on

Hence, some of the women ingest birth control pills before they start the journey anticipating the
worst like rape to avoid unwanted pregnancies. Some women who are not raped, are forced or
expected to give sexual favors to the coyotes as a form of payment for the crossings (218). The illegal
crossing comes as a huge financial burden to attain the dreams of living a better life. Additionally,
people consistently and constantly expect and prepare for the worst case scenarios and pray that they
do not succumb to it. The migrants already recognize that they will be participating in a lengthy and
struggling hike in an unknown territory. However, instead of resting, their mind will be swamped
dreading the unknown. The female migrants suffer from a higher mental toll and pressure as they
worry about sexual abuse or being dumped in a fresh trade business on top of everything. Therefore,
the journey to cross the U.S. border is mentally draining and distressing to the travelers.
In the same manner, the quest to cross the border is demanding and challenging. On an average
summer, the temperature in the area rises above 120 Fahrenheit and lowers below 42 Fahrenheit
(Androff 165). Because of this extreme temperature and the number of miles that it takes one to cross
the border, it is about impossible to carry enough water to combat dehydration (Debuys 218). Diaz

Digital Evidence In The Courtroom
The concept I will take from this class that I thought was important, is the concept of admissibility.
Admissibility defines how safe is the evidence collected for trial and presented in front of a jury, and
would the evidence be sound enough when making a decision in a case ( Casey, 2011, p.56). How
evidence is collected and analyze and stored are some of the factors that can have an influence on the
evidence in a case. The course Book Digital Evidence and Computer Crime, Chapter 3, Digital
Evidence in the Courtroom by Eugene Casey provides an example of a case that was presented in
Maryland. In 2007. The Magistrate was conveying over a case about the legitimacy of email. The
Judge did not allow the emails because in his view these are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Bayesian network modeling is used to calculate the analysts judgment on the certainty of evidence
(Changwei, Singhal, Wijesekera, 2014).
Bayesian probabilities ranks the submission of evidence from the highest to lowest degree of
certainty;
(1) Beyond any doubt (100%)
(2) Beyond a reasonable doubt ( 99%),
(3) Clear and convincing evidence (90 99%)
(4) Clear showing (80 90%)
(5) Substantial and credible evidence (67 80%)
(6) Preponderance of the evidence (50 67%)
(7) Clear indication (33 50%) (8) Probable cause: reasonable grounds for belief (10 33%) (9)
Reasonable, articulable grounds for suspicious (1 10%)
(10) No reasonable grounds for suspicion ( 1%)
This second method is a scientific or systematic approach method in analyzing evidence. However,
this method is not use in a civil hearing or a court of law. In conclusion, the course provided many
concepts that can be used or introduce in a case by case analysis. The one point that is common
throughout the course readings is the extraction of fact from hearsay when determining the integrity of
evidence presented in court or civil

child care, the first step is a tour and home visits. Home visits are beneficial to everyone involved in
the process. It assists the family and children become familiar with the caregiver, but it also helps the
teacher observe the family in their home setting. It provides assistance to the teacher to recognize how
the child interacts at home and information regarding their lifestyles. The role of the home visit is to
create open communication. It specifies a layout or foundation to what will be significant in the

A Brief Note On The Battle Of Somme
Infantry containing new machinery and lack of protection and medical equipment was a major cause
of the lethality during the Battle of Somme. In fact, the highest casualties were found in units manned
by infantry. Machine guns, tanks, gasses, and new explosives were massively powerful; artillery
heavier than ever, but protection was not. On the first of July, 1916 mines under the German strong
points were exploded , leaving creators that still mark the battle field, and the beginning of chaos for
the Battle of Somme, exemplifying the new abilities of destruction. Moving forward, firepower was to
overwhelmingly lethal for medical assistance and medics struggled to keep up. Artillery covered a
larger surface area and could shoot off more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The amount of destruction caused by mass explosives and gunfire was worsened by the lack of
protection and medical availability. The evolution of new firepower was too strong for current
methods of protection and cover. Barbed wire and trenches was the most effective current form of
shelter. However, barbed wire was easily run over by tanks and trenches penetrated by explosives and
air power. Simple cloth covering the bodies of the soldiers was no protection against machine guns,
bombs, and gasses. World War I was the first time gas had been used and the soldiers during the Battle
of Somme did not yet of the technology of gas masks to protect themselves. The result of so many
injuries was too much for medics to keep up with and transportation was slow. There were not enough
materials, nor enough people to manage the mass injuries. The extreme death toll caused by day one
could have been significantly smaller given an abundance of medical attention, however that was not
the case for soldiers on the Somme. Soldiers wounded on the first day suffered for a longer period of
time due to a failure in ambulance trains. The failure left around 10,000 of the wounded soldiers
stranded in battle territory and were not able to be transferred for days to come. The circumstances
within the trenches was no assistance to the survival of men. Trench warfare during the Battle of
Somme, was highly dangerous due to disease, whether

Shipping And Environmental Pollution
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES:
The objectives of the study are as follows:
To study the impact of shipping on the global environment.
To study the causes and measures of shipping in mitigating the environment pollution.
4. METHODOLOGY:
The researcher has used the data and information which are already available. Based on the
requirements of the current research and also based the specifications of the regulatory bodies of the
world, the causes and measures of shipping in mitigating the environment pollution and also the
impact of shipping on the global environment have been studied.
5. SHIPS AND SHIPPING:
To discuss the relation among shipping, the environment, and sustainable development, it is useful to
define certain terminology. The main focus of shipping is on commercial ships, although many of the
emissions, impacts and measures are common to other sectors, such as leisure, research, and fishing.
The different regulations also require definitions of a ship. Different definitions exist, although
according to the glossary of the US Navy, a boat usually refers to small vessels that are often open,
whereas ships are vessels of considerable size that are intended for deep water navigation. A ship can
also be defined by its size: vessels longer than 12 m and wider than 4 m are referred to as ships, and
smaller vessels are known as boats. Common ship types can be identified according to their type of
use:
Container Ships: These vessels carry most of the world s manufactured

Abstract
Background: Recurrent abortion or recurrent pregnant loss (RPL) is a common clinical problem, and
for most women the cause is unknown. Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) affects vascular
structure and placental function, and its role in blood pressure regulation and electrolyte balance is
well documented, as well as it is play a role in regulation of fibrinolysis indirectly.
Objective: This study aimed to examine the association of the ACE I/D polymorphism with recurrent
pregnancy loss in Sudanese women.
Materials and methods: It is a case control study, in which 40 patients with RPL and 40 healthy
women with one or more successful pregnancies were enrolled. Salting out method was used for DNA
isolation from peripheral blood leukocytes, and PCR was used to determine the ACE genotypes (DD,
ID, and II).
Results: In women with RPL the frequencies of ACE genotypes were found to be 57.5% for DD,
35.0% for ID, and 7.5% for II. in the control group the frequencies were 92.5% for DD,

Using Photovoltaic Pv Or Wind Turbine
Connecting any generator in parallel into the local final circuit with another source however has
several implications in terms of electric shock protection. The most important are the safety to the
service s staff, public and the users of the generator. In order to evade the risk of electric shock, the
users mentioned above should be informed of an operational generator (Small Scale Embedded
Generator SSEG) through labels, so they can take their precautions. The main source supply and
SSEG must be isolated prior to any electrical work installation/connection. The SSEG should not have

This type of protection is known to be either a TT or TN systems. The TT System of Earthing is not
suitable where a TN C S system is available it s only used in old installation or rural parts of the
country where overhead cable supplies are used. The associated earth fault loops with the TT System
of Earthing is that the exposed conductive metalwork causes a fault current to flow through it to earth
and return to the source via a general mass of earth (Figure 1). It is anticipated that the level of fault
current will cause the RCD to trip or to blow the fuse in the time indicated in the ETCI rules. At 230
Volts its 5 seconds for fixed equipment, 0.4 seconds for portable equipment, socket outlets and 0.4
seconds for fixed equipment in bathrooms. The main disadvantage of the TT system connection of
protecting against indirect contact is that the earth fault path resistance could easily allow a continual
earth fault to exist which may well be lethal or causes fire. The TN C S system of earthing has the
main earth terminal connected to the supply neutral and the earth electrode. When the load fault to
earth occurs it turn into a fault to the incoming neutral and the fault route resistance is a lot lower than
the TT system. A large current will flow which causes the RCD to trip within the specified time

  • 4. The Effects Of Sporting Events On Soccer 2010 The stadium was shaking with the thunderous cheers of fans supporting their countries. The excitement grew as coaches gave last minute instructions to their players. The kick off of the 1966 World Cup, held in England, in which Germany versed England, was moments away. The whistle blew and the match was on. The first ninety minutes of the match were an exciting battle and the game ended in a 0 0 score; on to overtime! According to an article written Zoe Doherty During the final, with eleven minutes gone in extra time, Alan Ball crossed to George Hurst whose subsequent shot cannoned off the underside of the goal and down either just on or over the goal line. The goal was controversially allowed, and its validity is still questioned to this day. (Goal line technology in soccer 2010) Controversy has always played a major role in the officiating of sporting events since the official s decisions are based upon their judgments and observations. Maybe in 1966 that had to be the case, but today, thanks to modern technology, that s not so. Rather than relying solely on their personal observations to determine a call, soccer officials are now being assisted by goal line technology, a tool to assist them making their official rulings during a game. According to the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, known as FIFA, which is the international governing body of the association of soccer, goal line technology is, A technical means of instantly determining ... • 5. The Common Deadly Vector Disease Other types of diseases have emerged in the current 21st century to make up for the Y.peteris bacteria. Deadly vector borne diseases, including malaria and dengue are those diseases that are in line with the plague. The origin of these disease spreading bacteria and viruses are still a mystery. Consider malaria, the most common deadly vector disease, its symptoms were described in ancient Chinese medical writings. In 2700 BC, Nei Ching described some of its characteristic symptoms. Malaria also made its way through Greece and Hippocrates also recorded its symptoms in his books and by the age of Pericles malaria was being recognized a major disease o the era at least in the rural areas in Greece (The History of Malaria). Similarly, as dengue virus s history goes The first record of a case of probable dengue fever is in a Chinese medical encyclopedia from the Jin Dynasty (265 420 AD) which referred to a water poison associated with flying insects. The first recognized Dengue epidemics occurred almost simultaneously in Asia, Africa, and North America in the 1780s, shortly after the identification and naming of the disease in 1779. The first confirmed case report dates from 1789 and is by Benjamin Rush, who coined the term break bone fever because of the symptoms of myalgia and arthralgia (History of Dengue). Board on ... • 6. Power in Congress Essay Power In and Over Congress I feel the system is biased because there are inequalities among the representation and participation of interest groups and constituents in the political system. Unfortunately, poor and uneducated citizens aren t as organized as interest groups, lobbyists and PACs because they lack the money, resources and connections necessary to influence congress members on legislative bills. It is evident that, businesses, interest groups and labor unions are spending more than $100 million a month to lobby the federal government (Associated Press, SFC, 3/7/98). The actual population of interest groups in Washington surely reflects that there is a class bias in the membership of interest groups (JBG). Interest groups ... Gallegos 2 Wayne, Lasser, Miller and others tend to agree that lobbyists and PACs have a great amount of influence over congress members because they may have direct connections and give campaign contributions. • 7. The Pros And Cons Of Standardized Testing There is a major controversy over standardized achievement testing that has now called for students, parents, educators, and communities to become involved. The United States is lacking in education from a worldwide viewpoint. The United States currently ranks 17th among 50 other global education systems (Gayathri). If America continues to fall behind, then the educational gap between races will continue to expand. Is the solution to the United States falling behind globally? It s to increase standardized tests. Standardized tests play a major role in education today, whether they are achievement tests measuring subject specific knowledge or aptitude tests measuring scholastic readiness. The goal of the assessments is to provide a yardstick to evaluate student performance across state standards. (Concordia University Portland 2017) The No Child Left Behind Act and the Common Core State Standards Initiative are prominent examples of test based accountability policies. The practice has ignited a debate about their effectiveness and how well this kind of test measures student achievement. (Concordia University Portland 2017) A standardized test is an examination that s scored and administered in a predetermined manner. • 8. The Road Of Serfdom By Hayek In his book The Road to Serfdom, Hayek laments the tendency towards central planning in western societies after the World Wars as a refusal of the principles of personal freedom. To him the only substitute of the abandoned road of liberalism and individualism, the basic ideas on which western civilization has been built (16), will be totalitarianism or even worse, fascism. Individualism, according to Hayek, grows from Christianity and classical western philosophy that based on the recognition for the value of individual as such (17). To acknowledge individual values require respect for his personal opinions, tastes and choices. Individualism serves as the philosophical foundation of liberalism. By providing men with the right to make decisions over their own life, a market economy creates a space for individual values to be realized. Operating through a competition mechanism that presupposes freedom of choices, the market system unleashes the power of individual talents to create a spontaneous order (21). Hayek believes that the free market not only generates prosperity, but comes with such economic freedom is personal and political freedom that in turn safeguards individual autonomy (21 23). The spontaneous force of individuals in a liberal society needs time to manifest its power, but the very success of liberalism has rendered the society both impatient with its slow progress and confident to seek alternatives (23): the abundance we already enjoy boots the ... • 9. Persuasive Essay About Cheating Everyone Does It For most, it is their worst nightmare to be caught in situations of misconduct. Starting with a simple problem an unfinished test or loneliness ,these situations entice an act of terrible character. In most instances, the immoral choice stem from a yearning of something positive: a passing grade, attention, a win by attaining what they want. Although it can make a heart race, this act does not risk bodily injury (nothing similar to skydiving or roller coasters). The act is not not revealing a crush or stumbling over words during a public speech; it is sinister, scandalous, and selfish. Most do it, yet all fear it cheating. The last five minutes of class flew by, and with seven unanswered questions there are only a few options: leave them blank, copy the answers of the closest person, or guess. These choices are black and white; two choices are good while the latter is unethical. Since cheating is trivial to most students, they go with that choice. Cheating requires less work and is a considerably easy task to accomplish, and teachers take it seriously. In the directions before a test these words are always mentioned, No phones, no talking, keep your eyes to yourselves. Cheating will result in a zero. The only person you hurt is yourself. Although the last statement leaves the listener with a feeling of unease and disdain for the cheating they have committed at any point in their life, the statement is not always true. • 11. Tolstoy s Perspective on Women s Rights as Depicted in... Vengeance is mine; I will repay, states the darkly foretelling epigraph of Leo Tolstoy s famous novel Anna Karenina. Throughout the work, the author seems torn between feminist and misogynist sympathies, leading one to wonder if the above quote is directed at the adulterous Anna the only character in the novel who pays for her transgressions with her life. At first, Tolstoy seems to sympathize with Anna, contrasting her situation with that of her brother Stiva, who has also committed adultery but received no social chastisement. But by the end of the novel it s almost as though the author feels he has allowed Anna to get away with too much, and must teach the reader a lesson about such behavior from a woman. Anna has not yet strayed from her marriage, but apparently the mere thought of it is enough to transform her from loving and attentive to cruel and heartless. Naturally, Anna and Vronsky begin to have an affair, which Alexis Karenin, Anna s husband, discovers. Our lives are bound together not by men but by God. This bond can only be broken by a crime, and that kind of crime brings its punishment, he warns her (173), in an allusion back to the novel s epigraph and a foreshadowing of Anna s eventual fate. They agree to live together as though nothing were wrong in order to keep up appearances, but after a time Anna demands divorce and Karenin consents on the grounds that Anna give up all rights to their son Serezha. She cannot bring herself to do this, and they live as before for a time until Anna gives birth to a daughter fathered by Vronsky. The birth is a difficult one, and Anna is convinced she will die in labor. She does in fact live, but the doctor tells her she will never bear more children. Seemingly, Tolstoy intends sterility to be Anna s punishment for having flouted societal norms. Vronsky and Anna flee to Italy in an attempt to live a more normal life. After some time there, it becomes quite apparent that the Anna we met at the beginning of the story is not the Anna we have now. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Letter From Birmingham Jail Rhetorical Analysis In Martin Luther King s A Letter from Birmingham Jail , the rhetorical appeals of kairos, logos and especially pathos are implied heavily throughout the piece, effectively responding to the absurdity of the eight clergymen s letter and to the civil disobedience displayed in the racial protests. Over the course of the letter, MLK makes multiple allusions to ancient philosophers, such as Socrates and Aquinas, as well as Bible verses and their lessons. King establishes himself as someone who is educated in the events happening in the community of Birmingham. Providing endless examples of personal anecdotes and details of the horrific events that he finds upsetting supports his knowledge on the civil disobedience. We have waited for more than 340 years for our constitutional and God given rights. (Language Acts!175) MLK s progress embodies respect and dignity, however because of the emotional appeals he is drawn to fight for the cause, and will not remain inactive. Martin Luther King relies on his extensive use of pathos to pull sympathy and guilt from the audience, the clergymen and people of Birmingham. The major moments of pathos in Letter from Birmingham Jail come in the parts about the suffering of the African American community. In order for MLK s argument to make sense, he supplied personal anecdotes for the audience to understand why the situation is unjust. So he gives a vivid picture of what Black Americans had to go through in the segregated South. ...when you suddenly find your tongue twisted and your speech stammering as you seek to explain to your six year old daughter why she can t go to the public amusement park that has just been advertised on television, and see tears welling up in her eyes when she is told that Funtown is closed to colored children. ( Language Acts!) I find the above section to evoke the most empathy (in my eyes) because it speaks to the child; the effects of racism and segregation on those too young to understand. It also opens the eyes as to the bitterness segregation bred in those children to the clergymen, whom work directly with them and for the children to be told no , to be told you can t , to be cheated of dreams and hopes, and to be made to feel hopeless. This documentary was created by Discovery World based on a true story. This documentary covers the unknown line of events that led up to the fatal collision of two fully loaded Boeing 747s. On March 27, 1977, a KLM 747 and a Pan Am 747 were on route to the Gran Canaria International Airport when unexpected calls were made by Canary Island Separatists that there were bombs at the airport. Authorities closed down Gran Canaria International Airport and had to divert all flights to a small airport in Los Rodeos. In total 5 large aircrafts were diverted to this small regional airport that couldn t easily accommodate the aircrafts. Eventually after almost 4 hours from the original diversion, the KLM was cleared to go the full length of a runway and do a 180° turn. The Pan Am flight was instructed to follow the KLM but take the 3rd exit off the runway to their left. The Pan Am passed the 3rd exit off the runway and the KLM began taking off without proper clearance. Giuseppe Mazzini, an Italian patriot spearheaded a national revolutionary movement. Mazzini s ideology of an independent integrated republic spread quickly among large segments of the Italian people. Massive reforms that took place during the 1840s in the Papal States, Lucca, Tuscany, and the Kingdom of Sardinia were intended to slow the revolutionary movements, instead these reforms (1846 and 1847) only intensified the resolve of the revolutionary cells culminating in the Revolutions of 1848, that spread to Germany, the Austrian Empire, France, and parts of northern Italy. In cases where people believe that they are not in a decent place and their future by all accounts is in shambles, they are more willing to take risks and hopefully move to a better point. The same theory applies to the people who are seeking to illegally enter the U.S. Many of those people have been disappointed with the failings and shortcomings of their government. In addition, the expansion of drug cartel in the country and rising violence has people on their knees deep in poverty without any opportunity to earn and thrive. Admissibility defines how safe is the evidence collected for trial and presented in front of a jury, and would the evidence be sound enough when making a decision in a case ( Casey, 2011, p.56). How evidence is collected and analyze and stored are some of the factors that can have an influence on the evidence in a case. The course Book Digital Evidence and Computer Crime, Chapter 3, Digital Evidence in the Courtroom by Eugene Casey provides an example of a case that was presented in Maryland. In 2007. In fact, the highest casualties were found in units manned by infantry. Machine guns, tanks, gasses, and new explosives were massively powerful; artillery heavier than ever, but protection was not. On the first of July, 1916 mines under the German strong points were exploded , leaving creators that still mark the battle field, and the beginning of chaos for the Battle of Somme, exemplifying the new abilities of destruction. The evolution of new firepower was too strong for current methods of protection and cover. Barbed wire and trenches was the most effective current form of shelter. Based on the requirements of the current research and also based the specifications of the regulatory bodies of the world, the causes and measures of shipping in mitigating the environment pollution and also the impact of shipping on the global environment have been studied. 5. SHIPS AND SHIPPING: To discuss the relation among shipping, the environment, and sustainable development, it is useful to define certain terminology. The main focus of shipping is on commercial ships, although many of the emissions, impacts and measures are common to other sectors, such as leisure, research, and fishing. The different regulations also require definitions of a ship. Different definitions exist, although according to the glossary of the US Navy, a boat usually refers to small vessels that are often open, whereas ships are vessels of considerable size that are intended for deep water navigation. A ship can also be defined by its size: vessels longer than 12 m and wider than 4 m are referred to as ships, and smaller vessels are known as boats. Using Photovoltaic Pv Or Wind Turbine Connecting any generator in parallel into the local final circuit with another source however has several implications in terms of electric shock protection. The most important are the safety to the service s staff, public and the users of the generator. In order to evade the risk of electric shock, the users mentioned above should be informed of an operational generator (Small Scale Embedded Generator SSEG) through labels, so they can take their precautions. The main source supply and SSEG must be isolated prior to any electrical work installation/connection. The SSEG should not have its own earth if connected parallel to another source (British Standard, 2008). The recommended parallel connection with LV distribution systems for a type ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This type of protection is known to be either a TT or TN systems. The TT System of Earthing is not suitable where a TN C S system is available it s only used in old installation or rural parts of the country where overhead cable supplies are used. The associated earth fault loops with the TT System of Earthing is that the exposed conductive metalwork causes a fault current to flow through it to earth and return to the source via a general mass of earth (Figure 1). It is anticipated that the level of fault current will cause the RCD to trip or to blow the fuse in the time indicated in the ETCI rules. At 230 Volts its 5 seconds for fixed equipment, 0.4 seconds for portable equipment, socket outlets and 0.4 seconds for fixed equipment in bathrooms. The main disadvantage of the TT system connection of protecting against indirect contact is that the earth fault path resistance could easily allow a continual earth fault to exist which may well be lethal or causes fire. The TN C S system of earthing has the main earth terminal connected to the supply neutral and the earth electrode. When the load fault to earth occurs it turn into a fault to the incoming neutral and the fault route resistance is a lot lower than the TT system.
