Susan B Anthony Theme
The theme for the road not taken and Susan B. Anthony is making choices makes a difference. The

America s Favorite Sport Of The Super Bowl Essay
Another major business decision that Pete Rozelle made that further solidified football as America s
favorite sport was the creation of the Super Bowl, which is now the most profitable single event for
NFL every year. The Super Bowl today has become something like a national holiday for the people.
It is the most anticipated sporting events every year as many people look forward to the Half Time
Show as well as commercials from specific companies like Doritos and the ever popular Mt.Dew. The
Super Bowl was only possible from the NFL and AFL agreeing to merge in 1966. In January 1967, the
first ever Super Bowl, which at the time was known as the NFL AFL National Championship
showcased the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Although the first Super Bowl did not
sell out the stadium the game managed to reach the largest television audience for a sporting event
with an astonishing 65 million viewers. According to Wallace (1996), Soon after the first
championship matchup between the established N.F.L. and the upstart American Football League in
1967, the Super Bowl became one of the most watched television programs, garnering ever higher
rights fees from the networks and escalating ticket prices (p. 1). When the two leagues officially
merged in 1970 the following season started to integrate the regular season games which brought new
rivalries and more profit. The NFL has had their most profitable Super Bowl with its 50th appearance
which could not have been

Reality Shows And The Reality Of Reality Television,...
Nowadays, there is a wide selection of reality shows, which audiences can pick and watch. The reason
why there are so many different types of reality shows is due to the expansion of the broadcasting
industry and the need to ingratiate the taste of the public. Although most people will agree the term
reality shows is used to identify shows that have arisen since the 21st century, the appearance of
reality television shows actually emerged earlier than everyone thought. For example, Allen Funt s
Candid Camera, which was the first reality show in the United States, arose in 1948 wherein real
people respond to funny pranks or unusual situations for the first time ever under hidden cameras
(Beck 6). Apart from the entertainment reality shows, non fictional entertainment shows such as
documentaries about ordinary people, quiz and game shows also appeared during the 1990s (Beck 4).
Therefore, the aim for people to watch reality shows at that time is entertainment and education. Yet,
as time progresses, distinct subgenres of reality shows such as the makeover shows, celebrity reality
shows as well as dating shows developed in the 21st century and the realness of reality shows has
become controversial. The authenticity of reality shows has become debatable not only because of
these people are oftentimes getting paid to be filmed on camera, but also because exaggerations of
manliness, beauty, and wealth are often portrayed in these programs, thus causing audiences to
consider them

How American English Has Changed American Culture
American English has changed the culture of Americans depending on where you live. People in the
south have deeply reflected their culture on the English they speak. As you move north on the map
northerners call soda pop while southerners call soda what it is actually called. Southerners have been
making a big impact on American English by adding y all into the dictionary. The beginning detail of
the essay is people have affected their culture by the way they talk. Southerners have put an accent on
their words and added a couple of words in the American dictionary because it is now being spoken in
most parts of the world. Southerners and people all around the world have changed the way they talk
to make conversations easier to understand.

Still Alice By Lisa Genova Analysis
The book Still Alice by Lisa Genova has many text to text connections with Adele s song, Hello . This
song released in 2015, talks about the issue of passing of loved ones. In the first verse, when Adele
sang, [t]hey say that time s supposed to heel ya, [b]ut I ain t done much healing , relates to how Alice
feels towards the losses of her family members. While she believed that she had done mourning over
the loss of her family when [s]he hadn t shed a single tear ...and [the] loss she felt for her mother and
sister had long been tempered by time , in reality she was never ready to overcome this situation as
later she began to cry, and the situation again seemed as explosive and anguished as the first time

Introduction
Genetics is the study of the biological process of heredity from parents to their offspring. Every
offspring receives a specific gene, which is located in the chromosomes, from their parents, and these
genes express specific trait.(Dr Ananya Mandal, MD ,2013). These traits may be either physical and
observable traits or behavioral traits. Furthermore, traits are subdivided in to two sets of groups,
Autosomal and sex linked traits. Autosomal traits are known as the traits that are not dependable of
sex of the individual and are same in both females and males however; sexed linked traits are ones

Sandro Botticelli s Annunciation
In Sandro Botticelli s The Annunciation, 1485, the biblical scene of the angel Gabriel greeting Mary is
shown. The angel tells Mary she is expecting a child that is the Son of God. Botticelli s uses space in
The Annunciation to separate Mary and the angel Gabriel as well as combine the space for a
completed scene. The scene takes place inside a church. Mary is on the right side in an private chapel.
She facing the left and bowing to show respect to God. The angel is on the left side bowing toward the
right. The angel is standing in an ambulatory with a column running right between the figures. The
painting is done in tempera and gold on wood. The painting is very flat and matte because of the

Again, Mary is on the right side on the painting. Botticelli is using the biblical motif to foreshadow
Christ being born. Christ is the right hand of God, so even the annunciation of his coming must be
holy and divine. While there is no bible evidence, many believe the angel Gabriel sat at the left hand
of God. Rabbi David Cooper says the angel is connected with the attribute of Gevorah on the left side
of the Tree of Life. Whereas Michael is on God s right hand, Gabriel is on God s left hand. The left
hand is the one that metes out punishment; the right hand overrules strict justice and is more merciful
and thus more lenient (p. 45). Botticelli seems to agree with the theory of Gabriel sitting at God s left
hand by the placement on the angel. While the does have a column directly diving the space, the gaps
between the columns and the walk way into the chapel combines the two sections. Botticelli seems to
be inferring for the angel to walk into the chapel and see Mary. The figures are also bowing toward
one another. Not only are they bowing because they are in the house of God, but they seem to
acknowledge one another in their bowing. If one would draw a line of the figures line of vision the
lines would intersect at the walk way between the columns. Therefore while Mary and Gabriel are in
different rooms of the church they can see and are interacting with one

Pros And Cons Of Resealing Your Wood Deck
Unprotected from harsh weather, scratched, and walked on constantly, your wood deck may begin to
look a bit dingy over the years. Even worse, once the sealing is gone it is far more likely to develop
mold and mildew. Fortunately, you bring back the beauty your yard and the health of it by resealing
your deck.
If you do not know how to seal a deck, do not worry. It is a simple procedure, and these four tips
should help:
1. Test the Wood
Before you seal or reseal your wood deck, you must first test it to determine if it needs sealing. It is
easy to test your deck, just gather some water and head out to your deck. Pour the water onto your
deck and watch.
If the water soaks into your deck, it needs to be sealed. If the water does not soak into

The Song Of Myself By Walt Whitman And Howl
Both Song of Myself by Walt Whitman and Howl by Allen Ginsberg are important pieces of American
poetry. Song of Myself was written in the 1850 s and Howl was written about a century later. Both
poets were part of groups that wanted to change America the Transcendentalists and the Beats.
Transcendentalists believed in the goodness of people and nature. They believe that people are at their
best when they are truly independent. The Beats rejected standard values and materialism. They
experimented with drugs and sexuality. Both movements tended to portray the wilderness as heavenly,
while thinking that human nightlife was too showy. Both of these groups were fully American literary
movements. Both poets mention nature in the poems. Both poets write about their reactions to the
politics of their time. The poems were rebellions against the commonalities of their cultures. Whitman
and Ginsberg both believed in democracy. They both protested against industrialization and tradition.
Both poets wrote in dangerous times. They wanted to take a stand against what they thought was
wrong with the world. They both wanted to take on the burden of being true to what America is really
supposed to be. Both poets were gay. Also, both poets were very young at the time that they wrote
these poems. Ginsberg was greatly influenced by Whitman when writing Howl . While writing, he
was even reading some of Whitman s poems. He wanted his world to be like how Whitman saw his

The Role Of Money In The Great Gatsby
Saoirse Kirby Ms. Kestenbaum English HL1 9/20/16 Money in The Great Gatsby F. Scott Fitzgerald
carefully assembled his novel into distinct groups old money and new money, both of which have their
own problems to face, leaving a reminder of what a precarious place this world really is. By creating
these social classes, Fitzgerald hints of elitism through every class of society, and more importantly,
how wealth blocks the pursuit of happiness. The first and most obvious group Fitzgerald mentions is
the rich, or old money. These are the characters born into their riches, such as Buchanans and Jordan

Microsoft s Visual Basic And Oracle s Java Essay
The need for more powerful and user friendly software grows exponentially every year. This means
that there is a higher demand for better quality and more versatile software. Higher quality software
that is versatile and consistent was very difficult to create for developers before object oriented
programming was created. The object oriented programming method of utilizing objects and methods
has revolutionized the way programmers create new applications. By allowing objects to be reusable
and flexible, this allows more time to be spent on creating meaningful coding tasks with less time
coding GUI s (Gaddis Irvine, 2014, p. xvii). Microsoft s Visual Basic and Oracle s Java are object
oriented programming languages that are very powerful applications which contain many similarities
while having small differences in the syntax and the usage of elements that are common to both.
Microsoft has been producing software for many years. They have a multitude of applications such as
Excel, Word and Visual Basic. The first version of Visual Basic was introduced in 1991 by Microsoft
and is still being utilized to create applications today (Gaddis Irvine, 2014, p. xvii). By offering
backwards compatibility throughout different versions of Visual Basic, it is easy to update and utilize
the new features of this versatile software (Gaddis Irvine, 2014, p. xviii). Visual Basic is software that
creates applications by using the Object Oriented Programming methodology. Today this is a

Football Is A Sport For The University Of Kansas And...
Rugby requires skill, strength, and strategy. Players spend 80 minutes pretending they re not hurt,
whereas soccer players spend 90 minutes pretending they are hurt in an attempt to draw fouls. In
Rugby a small 5 6 player is just as important as a 6 5 gargantuan. People may have heard of Rugby
before or even witnessed a game, but do they really know what it is and how it s played? My interest
for this topic came to me during my first semester at the University of Kansas, when I realized a club
team on the rise. A few of my pledge bothers recently got involved in the rugby club and have started
appreciating the sport. Rugby is a sport that consists of a team with a mission to score more points
than the other, with a similar football feel. My process is to analyze the game of rugby at the
University of Kansas and develop a greater understanding of rugby, how it s organized, and how it s
played. Before starting my investigative process, I first wanted to look at the historical content of the
sport. It is believed that rugby was born in 1823 when William Webb Ellis with fine disregard for the
rules of football (note that football was yet split into various codes) as played in his time at Rugby
school, first took the ball in his arm and ran with it, thus originating the distinctive feature of the
Rugby game ( Rugby Football History n.p.). Although Ellis s story is just a belief, the majority of the
population agrees on the view. Webb Ellis is still remembered as the

Analysis Of The Sun, Line, And Cave
Victoria McAlister
Professor Talcott
Ancient Philosophy
5 December 2014
Consistency in the Sun, Line, and Cave Plato s theory of the Forms showcases that acquiring
knowledge involves turning away from the world of senses and moving towards the Forms/world of
intellect. Within Plato s Republic there are three analogies: the sun, line, and cave, which are intended
to clarify how things experienced in the sensible world are less real than the Forms. All three
analogies are consistent through their descriptions of the differences between the intelligible and
sensible worlds. The usage of all three also enables Plato to guide readers through the knowledge
process, starting with a simple description of the sun and ending with a full example of how man can
reach that sun. Plato starts with the analogy of the sun, which points out the contrast between the
visible and the intelligible worlds. Within the visible world man has eyes and objects to be seen, but
man needs another object for the eyes to see the object. This object is the sun, which provides the light
that is required by the eye to view the visible world. In correspondence, the Form of the Good in the
intelligible world is equal to the sun by the way that the Good allows the forms to be known. Plato
specifically states, What gives truth to the things known and the power to know to the knower is the
Form of the Good. And though it is the cause of knowledge and truth, it is also an object of knowledge
(508e). Along with

Keystone Habit Research Paper
Keystone habit is a change of a behavior that can form other positive habits. It creates a chain reaction
on the way we live our life. Based on Habits as Change Levers by Daniel Denison and Levi Nieminen,
the authors give an example on how changing keystone habit can affect other habit and be
advantageous. To start with, Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is an authority that
manages all public transportation in New York City and surrounding areas including Long Island. This
includes a high volume subway system, which carries an average of 5.4 million passengers per day
(1.6 billion per year) (Denison and Nieminen 26). The subway service not only helps the New Yorker
to escape the traffic congestion, but also tourist to get around the city. So, it was crucial for MTA s
crews to make sure the subway system is operating without stop and safely. However, the subway
system must still be repaired ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This unprecedented decision was made when the subway system experienced several high profile
safety incidents. It involved a worker fatality and a blizzard that left some passengers stranded for 10
hours without food, water and heat. As a result, a program named FastTrack was introduced to identify
and shut down the whole track s section for maintenance from 10 p.m. until 5a.m. of the following
day. This allows the maintenance crews to access the tracks, signals, cables and other rail components
without any interruption. At first, the public outcry over the new subway service because they never
accustomed to any interruption to the service. However, the program has given many benefits over
time. It was reported that it has improved productivity, saved money (estimated savings of $16.7
million in 2012), cut accident rates nearly in half, and increased train reliability by nearly 5% (26).
These achievement is clearly achieved because MTA has changed its keystone habit, which is running

A High School Diploma Is No Longer Enough To Ensure Success
A high school diploma is no longer enough to ensure success in the globalized world we live in. Low
skill jobs made available by a high school education are, as time goes by, more and more likely to be
automated or sent overseas. Even college degrees sometimes fail to secure their holders a solid career.
Technology keeps advancing, and as it pushes forward, many workers look to education to stay
relevant. Thomas Friedman, New York Times journalist and author of The World Is Flat , says ...its not

Students are able to learn at their own pace, and take all the time they need to master a subject using
the resources given by the program or whatever they can find online, including Massive Open Online
Courses whether it be a much shorter or longer period of time than required for a traditional class.
They then take tests or create projects to prove their competency in the subject. Online CBE takes this
new method a step further, by making it more broadly accessible to any student with a reliable internet
connection, as well as reducing another common barrier to higher education: the money required to
attain a degree. The Center for American Progress published an article on CBE concluded that,
Competency based education could be the key to providing quality, postsecondary education to

How Is Hester Prynne Punished In The Scarlet Letter

The Scarlet Letter RRJ #1 Chapters 1 3 In The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, the main
character Hester Prynne is convicted of Adultery and is punished in several different ways including a
stay in prison and the adornment of a gold and scarlet A on her chest for the rest of her life. Despite
her lengthy punishment, I feel that Hester Prynne and I share some similarities. In the book, the A that
Hester wears is very bold and elaborate; so much so that some towns people are offended by it, feeling
that a symbol of such a crime should not be shown as something beautiful and she should not be
showing pride in her mistakes as she does. This reminds me of myself in the sense that if ... Show

Ironically, this care is to come from Hester Prynne s husband, now named Roger Chillingworth. In the
scene, Hester is very hesitant to accept help from him, seeing as he as every reason to harbor horrible
resentment towards her and the small child. I believe that the setting of the prison plays an important
role in the feelings and thoughts of both Hester and Mr. Chillingworth. Due to the subjugation of
prison inmates, Hester included, such characters often develop distrust of those around them. It is no
surprise that with the heightened distrust that follows, that that distrust would go even further in
regards to the belief that Mr. Chillingworth would want to do harm to her and her daughter. Similar to
how the prison scene makes Hester feel unsafe, the power that the prison gives Chillingworth makes
him feel more authoritative and like he can say what he wants, hence when he tells her that he isn t
going to kill her simply so that the can make her suffer in her penalty. I also believe that having the
infant with her in the prison makes it even worse, having to look out not only for herself, but for the
baby, too. Plus, because she is in prison, no one would even know she was killed, they would probably

Impact Of Charles Lindbergh In The 1920s
The 1920s was a decade of drastic change in the United States, with many new conflicts, leisure

event of its time (Nash 388). Approximately 25,000 people were at Le Bourget field to watch

Privatization of Russian Industries
For some, the privatization of Russian industry has been one of the great success stories of Russia s
painful economic transition: quick, firm and radical action was taken to shift the great bulk of Russian
industry out of state hands, thereby laying the basis for a radical restructuring of enterprises and
improvements in their performance. Others see privatization as a best a failure, at worst a catastrophe.
Not surprisingly those opposed to the market and economic reform as a whole share this view. But
many commentators who see themselves as supporters of reform find plenty in Russian privatization
to criticize: the process led to the transfer of ownership to inappropriate people and as a consequence
no beneficial restructuring of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Collective ownership derives either from a natural alliance between managers and rank and file
employees, probably based on Soviet traditions of paternalism and the ‘social contract , or from the
need of managers to pander to workers who control a majority of voting rights at shareholder
meetings. Although some observers might find a collective ownership outcome desirable, on the
grounds that it provides for workplace democracy and high incentive work habits, reform oriented
commentators generally find it a form of ownership likely to lead to the maintenance of excessively
high levels of underemployed staff and an over concentration on consumption at the expense of
investment.
The management ownership outcome derives from the ability of management to totally dominate
divided, demoralized or indifferent rank and file employees. The argument that they do so by bribing
employees with promises of secure employment and the maintenance of social welfare provisions is
essentially the same as that presented in the previous paragraph on collective ownership. However,
there is an increasing awareness among commentators that any Soviet paternalism and coincidence of
management worker interests that might have once existed have not survived the rigors of the
transition and the self interest of managers. As A.S. Bim puts it:
Given serious ‘positional differences between managers and other employees, it seemed reasonable

Self, Culture and Society
In this paper an excerpt titled Theoretical from Engels Anti Dhüring will be examined in reference to
Engels ideologies regarding materialism, the social work order, and the fundamental problems
confronted in the clash between the social production and capitalist appropriation.
In the chapter titled Theoretical, Engels lays out the basic conflict between what we know as socialism
and capitalism, doing so by first examining what he calls the Materialist conception of history (Engels
1939, p. 292). In his materialistic history he claims that the exchange and bartering of products, and
their production is the basis of every social order (Engels 1939, p. 292). He states that in every society

294) Thus small workshops slowly became obsolete, being replaced by gargantuan factories where
hundreds of peoples would come to produce a product together. The fundamental issue that arises
however is this: in Feudalism, and in earlier times it was clear who the owner of the product of labor
was, the individual producer had produced it, as a rule from raw material which belonged to him, and
often was also produced by himself... (Engels 1939, p. 295) As a result of this, there was never any
need to appropriate the product to him, as it belonged to him as an absolute. (Engel 1939, p. 295) The
problem here is that this idea continued on even after social production had taken the place of
individual producers, and the Social products were treated as if they were still...the products of
individuals. (Engels 1939, p. 295) Now the owner of the instruments of labor continued to appropriate
the product, although it was not longer his product, but...the product of other s labor. Thus therefore,
the products now socially produced were not appropriated by those who had really set the means of
production in motion and...produced the products, but by the capitalists. (Engels 1939, p. 295)
Therefore the original contradiction in capitalism can be summed up as such: The mode of production
is subjected to

The Health Of Humans And Companion Animals
Introduction
Increasing awareness about the health of humans and companion animals has lead to the introduction
of daily probiotic ingestion as a common practice. Probiotics are living organisms that naturally
inhabit the gastrointestinal tract of both humans and companion animals. These microorganisms
survive the highly acidic environment of the monogastric gastrointestinal tract and can be found living
in the feces. Improvement of physical symptoms as well as the levels of microorganisms within the
feces measures the effects of probiotics (Bybee et al., 2011: Scharek Tedin et al., 2013: Lee et al.,
2012). Researchers utilizing probiotics have addressed many different medical concerns such as
chronic diarrhea and feline lower urinary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consumers generally do not have extensive knowledge of specific probiotic species or their
interactions within the body, so they rely on the marketing teams creating the labels for commercial
products. The companies behind these products also have limited knowledge of probiotics and tend to
concern themselves with marketability rather than factual information. In 2011, Weese et al. analyzed
twenty five probiotic products commercially available to the public for live microorganism content
and label accuracy. Of these twenty five products, only twenty one (84%) labels listed specific
microorganisms; thirty two percent of products listing specific microorganisms had more than one
spelling error on the label (2011). These labeling mistakes would not be overlooked if the products
were regulated more heavily and only produced by companies with actual probiotic knowledge. Out of
the original twenty five products chosen, only two products (8%) had an acceptable label that
accurately described the contents and viable bacterial growth that matched or exceeded the amount
stated on the label (2011). The stark lack of appropriate labeling should make consumers and
veterinarians wary when selecting a probiotic product. While probiotics do have positive effects on
canine and feline nutrition when used correctly, misuse of these products could cause adverse effects
in some pets.

Tribal People In India
INTRODUCTION: WHO ARE TRIBALS?
Tribal people are defined as those who have followed ways of life for many generations that are
largely self sufficient, and are clearly different from the mainstream and dominant society .
Constitution of India has not defined the word tribe but Article 366(25) of the Constitution of India
refers to the Scheduled Tribes as the tribes or tribal communities or the parts of or groups within such
tribes or tribal communities which the Indian President may specify by public notification under
Article 342(1) . The word tribe means different for different person. For a layman it simply means
simple folk living in forest and hills, for others who know little about tribals consider them as
colourful people famous for their dance and song, for an administrator tribal word signifies a group of
citizens whose welfare is the social responsibility of the President of India and for an anthropologist it
means a special field for study of a social phenomena.
The Scheduled Areas and Scheduled Tribes Commission appointed by the President of India on 28
April 1960 pursuant to Article 339 of the Constitution of India in its report of 14 October 1961 stated
that As these groups are presumed to form the oldest ethnological sector of the population, the term
Adivasi which means original inhabitant has become current among certain people. The International
Labour Organization has classified tribal people as indigenous . Tribal people are given different

My Experience At High School
My mom and I were driving home from my club volleyball practice when I broke down in tears due to
stress. High school class registration was coming up and I still had no idea whether or not I wanted to
do band or volleyball in high school. Being a 14 year old in 8th grade, I never thought that I would
have to make such a colossal decision that would affect my life forever. I only had 2 more days to
decide how I would present myself in the new world of high school popularity, and I had no idea
whether I would choose the life of athletics or musical talents. My first instinct wanted to have the
best of both worlds. Maybe in the fall I could be part of the volleyball team and in the spring I could
pick up band and be involved in both organizations. I would be able to play the sport I loved and get
to know the volleyball girls and then in the spring reconnect with my band friends while playing hard
music and getting to know the band program in that way. In my heart I knew this was not going to
happen, there was no way that I could have both athletics and band in my schedule, nor could I truly
be happy with this decision. I would miss out on the best part of band, the marching and athletic part,
and spring for volleyball is the time when the team bonds the most because of the awful hell of off
season. I just couldn t pick this option, no matter how much I craved to have both volleyball and band

Stricter Gun Laws
In the past few years, mass shootings have been occurring more frequently. From that movie theatre a
few years back, to the church shooting earlier this year, mass shootings are starting to become a little
bit too common. One would think that this fact would lead to better gun ownership laws, but it has not
affected them all that much. Too many Americans have rioted when the mere whisper of stricter laws

The French And American Revolutions
The French and American Revolutions were pivotal in setting up new societies. Economic, social, and
political tensions leading up to the revolutions caused citizens to want change in the way their
government worked and functioned within society. Those who wanted the most change within the
government were called the radicals; those who wanted the least amount of change were called the
conservatives (Baradat 19; 24). The amount of change in their government was a part of the political
spectrum which grouped events and people into five groups according to how much change they
wanted. Both of the changes resulting from the two revolutions can be classified within this political

The British government did not have a formal constitution, but the government was run by two
sections: the monarch, and the parliament. Neither had absolute control as the parliament was able to
curb the power of the monarch and the parliament could not pass any bills or taxes without the
agreement from the monarch. Therefore, the British government had created some checks and
balances so that no one group of government would become omnipotent. An example of this can be
seen in the English Bill of Rights written in 1698 which states, the raising or keeping of a standing
army within time of peace, unless it be with the consent of Parliament, is against the law, (English
Parliament). This shows the Parliament had some power over the monarch. Later on, this idea of
checks and balances would be put into the American government. While the Americans did not create
this idea themselves, they believed in its value to society. Due to tensions between the American
colonists and the British, the colonists wanted to break away and form a government where their ideas
were heard. The primary tension was caused by the problems in the economy. Britain was left with a
lot of debt after the Seven Years War. The colonists were blamed for this because they were clashing
with the Native Americans and the French who had other settlements further inland a space the
American settlers wanted to occupy. Fighting the Natives and the French cost the

Moai Creation
If we look around the island, we find evidence of a population that exhausted its resources. Most
likely, the prime culprit for the quick loss of natural resources was the frenzied pace of Moai
construction. It was an enormous effort to carve the Moai and transported to its final location. Given
the rate of consumption to meet the demand for statue construction, natural resources were used up
before there was time for renewal; however, Moai creation would not be the only reason for the
resource depletion. Other sustaining activities like farming, shelter construction, tool creation, and
boat making would utilize the same resource; however, those activities were essential to support the
growing population.

pain as a 6/10. Glyceryl trinitrate spray was administered but he is still experiencing pain.
Observations were fine when he came to us here at the ward, but now his blood pressure and
respiratory rates have increased.
Additionally, Mr. Bright is beginning to feel quite nauseous.
He is experiencing pain in his femoral artery site.
Background:
Mr. Bright is a type 2 diabetic with a history of hypertension of 10 years and an increasing unstable

Bigger s Self Realization in Native Son
Although today we live in a nation, which has abolished
slavery, the gap between the whites and the blacks during the early stages of
America s development has plainly carried into the present. In Native Son,
author Richard Wright illustrates this racial gap, in addition to demonstrating
how white oppression upon blacks is capable of producing revengeful individuals,
not to mention being an immoral act in itself. Bigger Thomas is one of those
individuals, who discovers his capacity to rebel through acts of murder against
the white society, which has for long oppressed his family, friends, and himself.

Book three of the novel offers an emotional confusion within the mind of
Bigger, which soon leads him to contrive a self realization. Immediately one
observes that toward no one in the world did he (Bigger) feel any fear
now (254). This is a recent change in Bigger s mind set. He knows that he has
pushed himself to the limits, and he is in control of what he says and does. He
tries firmly to stifle all feeling in him[self] (262) when talking to his
visitors in the jail, because he feared that they would make him feel
remorseful (262). In this manner, he is able to not confuse his thoughts with
any feelings, so he can sort out his ideas. This is the self isolating process,
which occurs mentally, and this enables Bigger to formulate a justification for
his sins. Men do not like to feel that they are guilty of wrong, and if you
make them feel guilt, they will try desperately to justify it on any
grounds (360), which is precisely what Bigger is attempting through mental
detachment. Bigger didn t know I (he) was really alive in this world
until (392) he killed Mary Dalton. Bigger realizes that he committed the
murders in order to establish his existence in this world.

Paraphernalia For The Lottery Essay
The Lottery: Thesis How blindly following makes horrible acts seem humane How traditionalism
overpowers the strongest of morals and emotions The Mindless following of traditionalism ignores
one s morals.
Ideas:
The original paraphernalia for the lottery had been lost long ago, and the black box now resting on the
stool had been put into use even before Old Man Warner, the oldest man in town, was born. Mr.
Summers spoke frequently to the villagers about making a new box, but no one liked to upset even as
much tradition as was represented by the black box. (5)
The villagers are extremely resistant to change, although as seen in other passages, the lottery is not
without its detractors.
There had been, also, a ritual salute, which the official of the lottery had had to use in addressing each
person who came up to draw from the box, but this also had changed with time, until now it was felt
necessary only for the official to speak to each person approaching. (7)
The lottery has evolved over time, yet there are fundamental elements of it that the villagers would
never consider changing

Nazi Racial Policy Essay
Racism, spear headed by the writings of Charles Darwin, with time became a widely acknowledged
set of thoughts that led to scientific treatises, books and research projects. Frequently this research
served the purpose of pointing out the superiority or inferiority of a specific nation or race. Based on
such ideas of a racial hierarchy many European nations, including Germany, possessed a feeling that
their nation was superior to everybody else. This also meant that all members of this nation should
dwell within the same national borders. Such ideas can be termed positive racial policy .
From this come the extensive Nazi plans to move all ethnic Germans, who were citizens of other
countries, into the Third Reich. Racist ideas were also the basis of negative racial policy , in the form
of the exclusion of undesirable individuals from the German race

A result of this notion was the Nazi desire to remove Jews, gypsies, the handicapped, and others, from
the German Volksgemeinschaft ( people s community ). This negative racial policy was carried out
systematically with great cruelty after 1933. Anti Semitism can be translated with hostility towards
Jews . The Nazis hatred for the Jews and the use of the Jew as a universal explanation for all Germany
s problems is unique. Fascism i.e. Nazism s Italian counterpart does not include this element.
The Nazi ideology went one step further, however, in its idea of the Jews worldwide conspiracy to
cause the downfall of the Aryan race. Now all of a sudden, American Jewish lobbyists and the
Bolshevist enemy in the Soviet Union were two sides of the same coin!
The notion is of course absurd, but it was nevertheless extremely useful as a propaganda tool during

Art Is An Important Part Of Education
What is art? Is it just painting or can it be a number of creations, such as, music, dancing, theater,
pictures, sculptures, poems, stories, or videos. When I think of art, I think of all of these different
creations listed as art. Art is anything that can inspire a person, or create feelings from looking,
touching, or hearing. The definition of art is the expression or application of human creative skill and
imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be
appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power (google.com). Art is a way for humans to
communicate what they feel in their hearts. Although, some people may not agree that art is an
important part of education without it education could have been lost today. In the past ten years that I
know of, art has slowly been fading away in the educational environment. This can be any subject
from: theater, dance, band, and even just art classes in general. Our education has slowly started to
only focus on core academic classes. While some people in our education system may not perceive
this as a true fact; there is evidence to support that art has declined in public education. For theater and
dance in elementary schools, the percentages of schools making these art forms available went from
20 percent 10 years ago to only 4 and 3 percent, respectively, in the 2009 10 school year. In addition,
at more than 40 percent of secondary schools, coursework in the art was not

Relationships In D. H. Lawrence s Sons And Lovers
D.H. Lawrence s novel Sons and Lovers explores the significant family and companionate
relationships of early adulthood. Unfortunately, and possibly unbeknownst to Lawrence himself, the
relationships in the novel are often abusive, triangulated, and otherwise inappropriate. Many of these
distorted connections may stem from the unconscious and cyclical perceptions of love by the
characters. In D.H. Lawrence s novel, Sons and Lovers, each character s view of love is shaped by
observing his parents relationship, causing Mrs. Morel and her sons to perceive love as domination

When William first gets sick, the doctor describes the illness as pneumonia, and, he said, a peculiar
erysipelas, [a skin disease], which had started under the chin where the collar chafed, and was
spreading over the face . The fact that William s illness targeted his lungs and the area around his
throat alludes to death by strangulation, as he is pulled between his domineering mother and a fiancé
whom he wants to be able to love. Mrs. Morel mourns for her son, unaware of her role in his demise,
and she continues to perpetuate her love as dominance cycle with Paul.
Mrs. Morel imposes upon Paul s relationship with Miriam. Gertrude constantly tells Paul how
common Miriam is, and waits up late for him, like his wife, when he stays out late with Miriam, trying
to make him feel guilty. Paul even realizes at the end of the novel that his mother has been the root of
his failed relationships, and he asserts that I shall never meet the right woman while you live . Paul s
only means of freeing himself from his mother s dominance is to kill her, another dominating act
disguised as love, following Gertrude s path.
The two sons that Gertrude most loved and dominated also seem to feel that domination is true love,
thereby following in Gertrude s footsteps, both sons abusing their lovers. William as a child emits
some of the same sentiments as his mother when she was young.

Secrets In Romeo And Juliet Essay
Everyone has their own secrets, no matter who you are, or what you do. Secrets sometimes are good to
have. Some things people have to keep to themselves. In the play Romeo and Juliet By William
Shakespeare, secrets are kept quiet to keep peace amongst families. The characters in this story, have
to keep secrets for the good, but also for the bad. The secrets remind them of how much is at risk with
the choices they have been making throughout the story. Throughout this whole story the Capulet s
and the Montague s do not at all get along. Not only does this feud cause them to hate one another, but
it also causes all the families with these names to fight with the other. Sometimes feuds can change
and affect the lives of everyone involved. When they first got in a fight in the beginning of the story,
What, drawn, and talk of peace? I hate the word, As I hate hell, all Montagues and thee. Have at thee

  • 3. America s Favorite Sport Of The Super Bowl Essay Another major business decision that Pete Rozelle made that further solidified football as America s favorite sport was the creation of the Super Bowl, which is now the most profitable single event for NFL every year. The Super Bowl today has become something like a national holiday for the people. It is the most anticipated sporting events every year as many people look forward to the Half Time Show as well as commercials from specific companies like Doritos and the ever popular Mt.Dew. The Super Bowl was only possible from the NFL and AFL agreeing to merge in 1966. In January 1967, the first ever Super Bowl, which at the time was known as the NFL AFL National Championship showcased the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Although the first Super Bowl did not sell out the stadium the game managed to reach the largest television audience for a sporting event with an astonishing 65 million viewers. According to Wallace (1996), Soon after the first championship matchup between the established N.F.L. and the upstart American Football League in 1967, the Super Bowl became one of the most watched television programs, garnering ever higher rights fees from the networks and escalating ticket prices (p. 1). When the two leagues officially merged in 1970 the following season started to integrate the regular season games which brought new rivalries and more profit. • 4. Reality Shows And The Reality Of Reality Television,... Nowadays, there is a wide selection of reality shows, which audiences can pick and watch. The reason why there are so many different types of reality shows is due to the expansion of the broadcasting industry and the need to ingratiate the taste of the public. Although most people will agree the term reality shows is used to identify shows that have arisen since the 21st century, the appearance of reality television shows actually emerged earlier than everyone thought. For example, Allen Funt s Candid Camera, which was the first reality show in the United States, arose in 1948 wherein real people respond to funny pranks or unusual situations for the first time ever under hidden cameras (Beck 6). Apart from the entertainment reality shows, non fictional entertainment shows such as documentaries about ordinary people, quiz and game shows also appeared during the 1990s (Beck 4). Botticelli is using the biblical motif to foreshadow Christ being born. Christ is the right hand of God, so even the annunciation of his coming must be holy and divine. While there is no bible evidence, many believe the angel Gabriel sat at the left hand of God. Rabbi David Cooper says the angel is connected with the attribute of Gevorah on the left side of the Tree of Life. Whereas Michael is on God s right hand, Gabriel is on God s left hand. The left hand is the one that metes out punishment; the right hand overrules strict justice and is more merciful and thus more lenient (p. 45). Botticelli seems to agree with the theory of Gabriel sitting at God s left hand by the placement on the angel. While the does have a column directly diving the space, the gaps between the columns and the walk way into the chapel combines the two sections. Botticelli seems to be inferring for the angel to walk into the chapel and see Mary. The figures are also bowing toward one another. Not only are they bowing because they are in the house of God, but they seem to acknowledge one another in their bowing. If one would draw a line of the figures line of vision the lines would intersect at the walk way between the columns. Therefore while Mary and Gabriel are in different rooms of the church they can see and are interacting with one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Song of Myself was written in the 1850 s and Howl was written about a century later. Both poets were part of groups that wanted to change America the Transcendentalists and the Beats. Transcendentalists believed in the goodness of people and nature. They believe that people are at their best when they are truly independent. The Beats rejected standard values and materialism. They experimented with drugs and sexuality. Both movements tended to portray the wilderness as heavenly, while thinking that human nightlife was too showy. Both of these groups were fully American literary movements. Both poets mention nature in the poems. Both poets write about their reactions to the politics of their time. The poems were rebellions against the commonalities of their cultures. Whitman and Ginsberg both believed in democracy. They both protested against industrialization and tradition. Both poets wrote in dangerous times. They wanted to take a stand against what they thought was wrong with the world. They both wanted to take on the burden of being true to what America is really supposed to be. Both poets were gay. Also, both poets were very young at the time that they wrote these poems. This means that there is a higher demand for better quality and more versatile software. Higher quality software that is versatile and consistent was very difficult to create for developers before object oriented programming was created. The object oriented programming method of utilizing objects and methods has revolutionized the way programmers create new applications. By allowing objects to be reusable and flexible, this allows more time to be spent on creating meaningful coding tasks with less time coding GUI s (Gaddis Irvine, 2014, p. xvii). Rugby is a sport that consists of a team with a mission to score more points than the other, with a similar football feel. My process is to analyze the game of rugby at the University of Kansas and develop a greater understanding of rugby, how it s organized, and how it s played. Before starting my investigative process, I first wanted to look at the historical content of the sport. It is believed that rugby was born in 1823 when William Webb Ellis with fine disregard for the rules of football (note that football was yet split into various codes) as played in his time at Rugby school, first took the ball in his arm and ran with it, thus originating the distinctive feature of the Rugby game ( Rugby Football History n.p.). • 14. Analysis Of The Sun, Line, And Cave Victoria McAlister Professor Talcott Ancient Philosophy 5 December 2014 Consistency in the Sun, Line, and Cave Plato s theory of the Forms showcases that acquiring knowledge involves turning away from the world of senses and moving towards the Forms/world of intellect. Within Plato s Republic there are three analogies: the sun, line, and cave, which are intended to clarify how things experienced in the sensible world are less real than the Forms. All three analogies are consistent through their descriptions of the differences between the intelligible and sensible worlds. The usage of all three also enables Plato to guide readers through the knowledge process, starting with a simple description of the sun and ending with a full example of how man can reach that sun. Plato starts with the analogy of the sun, which points out the contrast between the visible and the intelligible worlds. Within the visible world man has eyes and objects to be seen, but man needs another object for the eyes to see the object. This object is the sun, which provides the light that is required by the eye to view the visible world. In correspondence, the Form of the Good in the intelligible world is equal to the sun by the way that the Good allows the forms to be known. Plato specifically states, What gives truth to the things known and the power to know to the knower is the Form of the Good. And though it is the cause of knowledge and truth, it is also an object of knowledge (508e). Along with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The management ownership outcome derives from the ability of management to totally dominate divided, demoralized or indifferent rank and file employees. The argument that they do so by bribing employees with promises of secure employment and the maintenance of social welfare provisions is essentially the same as that presented in the previous paragraph on collective ownership. However, there is an increasing awareness among commentators that any Soviet paternalism and coincidence of management worker interests that might have once existed have not survived the rigors of the transition and the self interest of managers. (Engels 1939, p. 295) As a result of this, there was never any need to appropriate the product to him, as it belonged to him as an absolute. Improvement of physical symptoms as well as the levels of microorganisms within the feces measures the effects of probiotics (Bybee et al., 2011: Scharek Tedin et al., 2013: Lee et al., 2012). Researchers utilizing probiotics have addressed many different medical concerns such as chronic diarrhea and feline lower urinary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Consumers generally do not have extensive knowledge of specific probiotic species or their interactions within the body, so they rely on the marketing teams creating the labels for commercial products. The companies behind these products also have limited knowledge of probiotics and tend to concern themselves with marketability rather than factual information. In 2011, Weese et al. analyzed twenty five probiotic products commercially available to the public for live microorganism content and label accuracy. Of these twenty five products, only twenty one (84%) labels listed specific microorganisms; thirty two percent of products listing specific microorganisms had more than one spelling error on the label (2011). These labeling mistakes would not be overlooked if the products were regulated more heavily and only produced by companies with actual probiotic knowledge. Out of the original twenty five products chosen, only two products (8%) had an acceptable label that accurately described the contents and viable bacterial growth that matched or exceeded the amount stated on the label (2011). The stark lack of appropriate labeling should make consumers and veterinarians wary when selecting a probiotic product. While probiotics do have positive effects on canine and feline nutrition when used correctly, misuse of these products could cause adverse effects in some pets. • 28. Tribal People In India INTRODUCTION: WHO ARE TRIBALS? Tribal people are defined as those who have followed ways of life for many generations that are largely self sufficient, and are clearly different from the mainstream and dominant society . Constitution of India has not defined the word tribe but Article 366(25) of the Constitution of India refers to the Scheduled Tribes as the tribes or tribal communities or the parts of or groups within such tribes or tribal communities which the Indian President may specify by public notification under Article 342(1) . The word tribe means different for different person. For a layman it simply means simple folk living in forest and hills, for others who know little about tribals consider them as colourful people famous for their dance and song, for an administrator tribal word signifies a group of citizens whose welfare is the social responsibility of the President of India and for an anthropologist it means a special field for study of a social phenomena. The Scheduled Areas and Scheduled Tribes Commission appointed by the President of India on 28 April 1960 pursuant to Article 339 of the Constitution of India in its report of 14 October 1961 stated that As these groups are presumed to form the oldest ethnological sector of the population, the term Adivasi which means original inhabitant has become current among certain people. • 30. My Experience At High School My mom and I were driving home from my club volleyball practice when I broke down in tears due to stress. High school class registration was coming up and I still had no idea whether or not I wanted to do band or volleyball in high school. Being a 14 year old in 8th grade, I never thought that I would have to make such a colossal decision that would affect my life forever. I only had 2 more days to decide how I would present myself in the new world of high school popularity, and I had no idea whether I would choose the life of athletics or musical talents. My first instinct wanted to have the best of both worlds. Maybe in the fall I could be part of the volleyball team and in the spring I could pick up band and be involved in both organizations. I would be able to play the sport I loved and get to know the volleyball girls and then in the spring reconnect with my band friends while playing hard music and getting to know the band program in that way. In my heart I knew this was not going to happen, there was no way that I could have both athletics and band in my schedule, nor could I truly be happy with this decision. I would miss out on the best part of band, the marching and athletic part, and spring for volleyball is the time when the team bonds the most because of the awful hell of off season. I just couldn t pick this option, no matter how much I craved to have both volleyball and band in my life together. For the majority of 8th grade I had my heart set on playing ... Economic, social, and political tensions leading up to the revolutions caused citizens to want change in the way their government worked and functioned within society. Those who wanted the most change within the government were called the radicals; those who wanted the least amount of change were called the conservatives (Baradat 19; 24). The amount of change in their government was a part of the political spectrum which grouped events and people into five groups according to how much change they wanted. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The British government did not have a formal constitution, but the government was run by two sections: the monarch, and the parliament. Neither had absolute control as the parliament was able to curb the power of the monarch and the parliament could not pass any bills or taxes without the agreement from the monarch. Therefore, the British government had created some checks and balances so that no one group of government would become omnipotent. An example of this can be seen in the English Bill of Rights written in 1698 which states, the raising or keeping of a standing army within time of peace, unless it be with the consent of Parliament, is against the law, (English Parliament). This shows the Parliament had some power over the monarch. Later on, this idea of checks and balances would be put into the American government. While the Americans did not create this idea themselves, they believed in its value to society. Due to tensions between the American colonists and the British, the colonists wanted to break away and form a government where their ideas were heard. The primary tension was caused by the problems in the economy. Britain was left with a lot of debt after the Seven Years War. The colonists were blamed for this because they were clashing with the Native Americans and the French who had other settlements further inland a space the American settlers wanted to occupy. Most likely, the prime culprit for the quick loss of natural resources was the frenzied pace of Moai construction. It was an enormous effort to carve the Moai and transported to its final location. Given the rate of consumption to meet the demand for statue construction, natural resources were used up before there was time for renewal; however, Moai creation would not be the only reason for the resource depletion. Other sustaining activities like farming, shelter construction, tool creation, and boat making would utilize the same resource; however, those activities were essential to support the growing population. Mr. Summers spoke frequently to the villagers about making a new box, but no one liked to upset even as much tradition as was represented by the black box. There had been, also, a ritual salute, which the official of the lottery had had to use in addressing each person who came up to draw from the box, but this also had changed with time, until now it was felt necessary only for the official to speak to each person approaching. Frequently this research served the purpose of pointing out the superiority or inferiority of a specific nation or race. This also meant that all members of this nation should dwell within the same national borders. Such ideas can be termed positive racial policy . When I think of art, I think of all of these different creations listed as art. Art is anything that can inspire a person, or create feelings from looking, touching, or hearing. The definition of art is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power (google.com). Art is a way for humans to communicate what they feel in their hearts. Although, some people may not agree that art is an important part of education without it education could have been lost today. In the past ten years that I know of, art has slowly been fading away in the educational environment. This can be any subject from: theater, dance, band, and even just art classes in general. Our education has slowly started to only focus on core academic classes. While some people in our education system may not perceive this as a true fact; there is evidence to support that art has declined in public education. For theater and dance in elementary schools, the percentages of schools making these art forms available went from 20 percent 10 years ago to only 4 and 3 percent, respectively, in the 2009 10 school year. Unfortunately, and possibly unbeknownst to Lawrence himself, the relationships in the novel are often abusive, triangulated, and otherwise inappropriate.
