The Effects Of Media On Our Society
In our society, media is constantly being used not only to communicate but also to learn about what is
going around the world. The web gives the chance to share news and even lets people talk to one
another. The internet spreads information and ideas quickly and reaches out too many people. Much of
what our society sees and reads often come from sources provided by the internet. Based on these
sources, knowledge is gained, wither it is real or fake. Constantly seeing media gives our society the
idea that it is real. Videos, music, and photos are a way of spreading ideas clearly to more people. Due
to this, ideas such as the end of the world sparks conversations and creates theories.
Theories are a trend of ideas, that explains something, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Doomsday media spreads quickly giving dates on the suspected day and tips on how to be prepared.
With many theories to research, an older theory known as the Great Flood is a controversy that also
spread panic. Johannes Stoffler, a germen astrologer issued a world ending flood. This flood was set to
occur on February 25, 1524. On this day, all planets would be under the same water sign Pieces.
Creating a flood that was set to destroy our world, Hundreds of pamphlets announcing the coming
flood were issued and set in motion a general panic (Cole). With Stoffler s statements and highly
respected research, the event seemed as if it was in fact the end. As time passed and theories did not
occur, the fear and predictions remain. Harold Camping predicted the end of the world would happen
on May 21, 2011. 7000 years prior to this date was when the Biblical Flood was said to occur. As the
date approached, Camping announced his math was incorrect and declared October 21, 2011, to be the
official date for doomsday. As the internet grew more popular, research was being brought to attention
and even movies have been created to document the events that will occur on this day known as
doomsday. A huge theory that occurred recently is the 2012 Maya Apocalypse The Mayan long

Language Used In Animal Farm
Language is used in Animal Farm as one of the most powerful weapons. The pig, squealer utilizes this
weapon the most, and convinces the animals to completely modify how they think and act. In fact,
they even got the sheep, the most extreme nationalists to the regime, to go completely against their
agenda, Four legs good, two legs bad... to Four legs good, two legs better... Another example would be
how the pigs actually convinced the animals to almost completely disregard it s past history: the reign
of Jones and the Rebellion against him, the forgotten equality and companionship between all of the
animals, and even the philosopher who created animalism, Old Major.

Summary Of Fifty Shades Freed
With the anticipation of Fifty Shades Darker coming out, it seems Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan
are already gearing up for Fifty Shades Freed. The two were spotted wandering up and down the Cote
d Azur beach. But the interesting part was when the actress was seen in a skimpy yellow two piece
bikini while photographers were taking pictures like crazy. Is this the scene from the Fifty Shades
Freed novel where the two lovers were already on their honeymoon? It must be that because Dakota
suddenly went topless to sunbathe while her co star Jamie Dornan approached her for some massage.
The sweetest part was when Jamie made sure his co star was all covered up with a towel whenever
they were not being filmed. According to reports, in the same

The Ideology Of Planned Parenthood
The Ideology of Planned Parenthood Prolife or prochoice? This is the debate that seems ongoing for
as long as I can remember yet seems to have risen in intensity over the years. We have more recently
seen things in the news about defunding Planned Parenthood and there always seems to be protestors
on the streets no matter where you go screaming at you their point of view. This essay will focus
around the ideology of Planned Parenthood as an organization. Why would people dislike an
organization so open to the idea of a human s right to choose what happens in their own body? I
would like to look at both viewpoints of this argument because even though I have my own beliefs I
have always been very intrigued in others as well. While I could easily write a paper simply on prolife
or prochoice I want to go deeper than that into this well known, and well argued topic. I will mainly
focus on the defunding argument of the organization as well as what they stand for as a whole and
what will happen if they no longer exist. The most recent debate to hit the news has been the defund
Planned Parenthood vote done by the House of Representatives which passed by a close vote of 240
189. Although passed it did go on to be vetoed later on down the path to it becoming a true thing. In
the mind of the people who thought it was best not only was there the usual argument of it s a life but
we also got a new side of the argument, tax dollars. According to statistics Planned Parenthood gained

Scorpio Vs Scorpio
SCORPIO WITH ARIES: At first this will be very bold. Both signs are ruled by Mars and co ruled by
Mars. Aries is ready, willing, and able to sexually experiment in ways that will make Scorpio very
controlling and jealous. Conflicts surround other departments. Both want to take control when it
comes to making decisions. Since Mars rules the will force, their wills clash. These two truly require
an adjustment as this is a quincunx aspect. Technically Aries dominates and Scorpio manages.
However, those two actions are very similar in nature. Scorpio s lack of trust and brooding demeanor
can be frustrating to Aries. Aries love to flirt, socialize, and explore. This enrages Scorpio. The
makeup sex can be very explosive.

incredible deal of bodily attraction between them. Each has a strong temper. Scorpio s controlling
ways will possibly ignite conflicts.
SCORPIO WITH VIRGO: Virgo needs to learn how to keep up with Scorpio. The two minds and
personalities mesh. Virgo is sensual and Scorpio is passionate. Scorpio can turn a Virgo on instantly.
Both are very good with money too. Scorpio is good for raising money and Virgo is good for
maintaining it. Their minds are analytical. Virgo is great with details whereas Scorpio is perfect for
digging probing like a psychoanalyst.
SCORPIO WITH LIBRA: Libra may confuse Scorpio s nature as interesting. However, once that the
jealous streaks become apparent it may intimidate Scorpio. Scorpio satisfies Libra s will need for
affection. Libra likes to flirt and Scorpio won t have that at all. Scorpio requires serious commitment.
Libra may have challenges making decisions and find Scorpio too controlling being forced to make

Enabling Law In Nazi Germany
Fourthly, Enabling law was key to maintain the Nazism in power without any dispute and therefore no
opposition of the parliament. At the March elections the Nazi party was the largest single political
party. After suspending the Communists, and using his storm troopers (the SA) to intimidate members
of the other parties, Hitler had the two thirds majority in the parliament he needed to suspend the
country s constitution. This was essential since Hitler now had the power to issue new laws without
consulting parliament. Hitler made the Nazis the only legal political organization in the country. The
other parties were banned or dissolved themselves. No one could now challenge the Nazis legally,
which made opposition very dangerous. Opponents

Erikson s Theory Of Psychosocial Development Essay
Growing up experiencing his own identity crisis and misfortunes during his childhood, Erik
Homberger Erikson, a well known psychologist, used this as an inspiration to further one s
understanding of a healthy personality and sense of self. This gave rise to his successful establishment
of the theory of Psychosocial Development. Although derived from Sigmund Freud s theory of
Psychosexual Development, Erickson believed that a person s social experiences cause a great impact
on their sense of identity throughout their entire lifespan in eight different stages of development, as
opposed to the five stages Freud assumed ended when a person reaches early adulthood (Cherry.
2016). Erickson theorized that a person s ability to successfully complete a stage of development,
regardless of their developmental challenges, directly affected the outcome of a healthy or unhealthy
personality and sense of self. In his attempt to exceed further in understanding how a person s social
environment affects their personality and identity, Erikson s findings became great contributions to the
study of psychology. On June 15, 1902, Erikson was born in Frankfurt, Germany, to Karla
Abrahamsen, a Jewish stockbroker, as Erik Salomonsen at birth (GoodTherapy. 2007 16). His mother
married his pediatrician, Theodor Homberger, in 1905, when Erickson was about three years old (The
Famous People. 2007). His last name was changed to Homberger, when his step father officially
adopted him in 1911, and it

The Passions Of The Man
The Passions of the Man We exist in an artificial world created from our passions. Uncontrollable as
they may seem, our natural inclinations and mental faculties have actually effected immense social
change on both a physical and mental level. As oxymoronic as it may seem, it is ultimately our innate
passions that both drive conflict and allow for cooperative endeavor, and Thomas Hobbes s masterful
17th century work Leviathan captures this point beautifully. His passions are a kind of internal motion
related to one s will and encompass character traits, moods, or ephemeral states of being such as
sudden glory causing laughter. Hobbes uses the idea of passions as a motivating source to flush out a
future directed approach to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, we live in the natural world. Far from perfect. Our passions do not even come close to
fitting us in the perfect world. In fact, they prevent its existence. The nature of man then is one of
passions and thusly, one of war. According to Hobbes, the nature of war consisteth not in actual
fighting, but in the known disposition thereto during all the time there is no assurance to the contrary.
(13) War is not a state of fighting, it is a state of being; specifically a state of being in which safety and
protection of one s life or happiness are close to non existent. Coupled with the very real ideas of
exhaustible resources and the will to survive, this war or natural world is then populated by beasts
unreasoned beings dominated by their psyches and unable to coexist in a society. Hobbes concluded
that in the nature of man, we find three principal causes of quarrel. First, competition; secondly,
diffidence; thirdly, glory. () These three passions are at once dangerous to the natural world, but
necessary for the artificial world to exist. The competition to which Hobbes speaks is a competition
for power. In his observations, it is the powerful that are happy and can assure their continued felicity.
Thus, competition begets violence. Diffidence implies the defense of oneself and your well being in
fear of it being stripped of you. Diffidence seems to beget violence as well. And glory begets the most
violence. The thirst for power becomes too

Essay about Mgmt 591 Woodson Coalition Week 3 Case Study 1
Part 1: Group Development The genesis and growth of a group always goes through five stages:
forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning. Forming is always the first stage, where the
group members meet for the first time and roles as well as structure and purpose are not firmly
established. This stage closes when the individuals label themselves as a group. Appropriately named,
the storming stage is defined by intragroup conflict in the areas of limited autonomy and leadership,
and is a critical in group development. The resolution of this stage comes with a visible leader along

The three organizations must come to an understanding on the issues presented first before
commencing on creating the after school program.
The secondary problem encountered in this case is the diversity among the students and parents,
school officials, NCPIE officials, and Woodson officials. We see that diversity is a very important part
in forming the coalition, as the student population is a mix of African American, Caucasians and
Hispanics. While the NCPIE is representative of students in Washington, D.C., the Woodson
Foundation is located in Virginia and is composed of mainly Caucasian professionals. There are
cultural, demographic, racial, ethnic, and location concerns that need to be taken into consideration
when forming an effective team.
Part 3: Retrospective Evaluation Although the differences in the ways and means vary among the
organizations, there are shared common goals meeting the needs of the students which consists
primarily of learning, and engaging the parents participation in the school system. These goals should
be at the forefront of every major decision while asking Does this decision help the students?
Leaders of this coalition need to be selected from a pool of candidates. The best way to equally
represent all the organizations and their influence in the process is to choose a candidate from each
organization. Criteria for these leaders should include situation specific experience, openness to input,

Driver Responsibility Program Analysis
According to Oxford Dictionaries, surcharge mean: An additional charge or payment. For the state of
Texas and New Jersey, this law has been put in place for their drivers who commit a traffic ticket
offence. The Driver Responsibility Program, created in 2003, requires drivers to pay annual
surcharges on top of the fines and legal fees attached to traffic violations, such as driving without
insurance or while intoxicated. These surcharges keep people from registering their car, getting their
license and being legal on the road. This law have more illegal drivers on the Texas roads. Drivers
aren t automatically levied surcharges for minor tickets for speeding or car accidents, but a point
system is used to punish repeat offenders. If a driver accrues six points in a three year period, a
surcharge is assessed. Failure to pay results in a suspended driver s license. Even for those who know
about the payment options, though, the application process can be burdensome, critics say. It requires
applicants to get documents notarized and to provide financial documentation, including an income
tax form.
Bill Lewis testified on behalf of Mothers Against Drunk Driving , an organization that supported the
program when it was first enacted but now wants lawmakers to reform the program to better assist the
millions of drivers caught up in the surcharges. Staudt said she believes the program is
unconstitutional because it penalizes drivers twice for the same violation. Out of the 3.2 billion dollars
billed to Texas drivers only 1.2 billion dollars has been collected. The reason for this law is, Texans
has come up with a reliable revenue for trauma hospitals, Yáñez Correa (TCJC) said. They need
money to pay for care, but not at the back of Texans who are barely making it. ... Show more content

The Carved Vessel Summary
In around 3300 3000 BCE a sculptor created the Carved Vessel, from a stone referred to as Alabaster.
This vessel was produced in Uruk which is currently known as Warka, Iraq. Through the subject
matter, registers, and overall style, the sculptor of the Carved Vessel presented an organized story
about making sacrificial offerings to ensure a plentiful harvest. The main subjects of this story would
be the Sumerians and the goddess Inanna. Because in the process of the story it s the Sumerian people
who need the harvest and it s Inanna that they re presenting the sacrifices to for divine intervention in

Considering the wave pattern of oceanic water this could depict water, or more specifically the Tigris
and Euphrates, which could have been their source of water. Then, in the next register, there are
distinctively grain plants, and through the process of the story it can be understood that this is the main
crop that the Sumerian people are hoping for a large upcoming harvest with. Next, there is a register of
rams and ewu and it is quite possible that they were used as sacrifices also, but they are not viewed as
being as vital as the grain because of their hieratic scale height. As the viewer looks up to the next
register, there is the men with the baskets, and the baskets have the sacrificial offerings to be taken to
the goddess. This register also raises the idea that women or children were not permitted to present
offerings to this goddess, because none are depicted. Perhaps due to the critical nature of the sacrifice
the task was left solely for men to perform. However, in the final register, the divine form that the
people are depicted presenting the sacrifices to as an offer for a plentiful harvest is the goddess

Diabetic Foot Ulcer Teaching Project
I Introduction:
Diabetes is one of the most discussed and debated chronic disease amongst many conditions in the
category, and has been studied extensively. This is undoubtedly related to just how common diabetes
is. In fact, in 2013, according to the IDF Diabetes Atlas (2013), 382 million individuals had diabetes,
around 6% of the roughly 7 billion world population. Amongst those, about 80% live in low to middle
income countries (IDF, 2013). Considering that those countries form the majority of the world and that
they encompass a majority of diabetics, we can notice a very wide spread pattern of diabetes in the
world. These high numbers are not stagnant, to boot, with 592 million diabetes patients expected in

Indeed, this paper, after the overview given on diabetes, is really about diabetic foot ulcer as one of
the prominent complications of uncontrolled diabetes. Diabetic foot is certainly one of the more
serious complications in diabetes as it can turn from a minor manifestation to extremes such as
amputation in a flash. The processes behind the formation and progress of it will be elaborated at a
later part in this paper, as will the details of the teaching project behind this paper, in order to increase
awareness about diabetic foot, its prevention and its management.
II Target audience:
The target audience naturally includes all patients suffering from diabetic foot for treatment and
management purposes, it more importantly includes all type II diabetes patients in the community for
prevention purposes as prevention is much more important than treatment in this topic. Treatment
modalities as will be discussed later might be extreme, but prevention can help avoid them altogether.
III Subject Area:
Diabetes Mellitus type II had been a topic widely known, but not deep enough to be diagnosed or
prevented early. Most people have the idea that this is caused only genetically or just for older adults,
ignoring some symptoms they might experience under the title of we are not prone to have diabetes .

2000 Recession
The early 2000s recession was a decline in economic activity which mainly occurred in developed
countries. The decline affect the European Union throughout 2000 and 2001 and the United States

Example Of Holistic Care
Holistic Care is seen as the way in which the patient is cared for as a whole by looking not just at their
physical or medical needs but also at their spiritual, psychological and social needs while in the
clinical setting (Johns C. 2012, Rushton L. 2014). One of the main outcomes for holistic care is
patients receiving the best standard of care and also patient satisfaction in their care. This is due to the
patient being cared for in a way that doesn t just look at their disease and uses person centered care
instead of the traditional medical model of nursing (McGeorge N. 2010). In order to adequately care
for the patients that we see in clinical settings we must look at them holistically and not care for them
solely using the medical model of nursing. Holistic care is especially important for patients who are
under going surgery, like this patient who was getting a short gamma nail placed in her femur, as it
helps to promote healing post operatively by encouraging compliance with the care they need. It also
helps to reduce the anxiety felt by the patient as they feel they are not being ignored by the staff

Ferdinand De Sassuare Reflection Essay
Reflection (Page 850) In Ferdinand De Saussure s Course in General Linguistics, almost the entire
reading from our assigned texts that is, has conventionally been summarized on page 850. Overall,
Sassuare explains his analysis of language by describing it as a system of signs and
comparing/contrasting words in a language to other words. He says that words are what they are
because of what they re not, and language wouldn t exist without sound image. Saussure analized
language as a system of linguistic signs that he used to explain the ..indefinite plan of jumbled ideas..
inside our minds (Saussure 856). Sassaure s diction on page 850 really stuck out to me obviously
because it s the first example of his strange thought process. His diction is rather strange at times, but I
thought this page served as a great introduction of what type of adventure you re about to embark on
trying to follow along and get inside of Sassaures head for the rest of this piece. For example, who
characterizes language and speech as heterogenous or homogenous? What does that even mean? What
is a speech circuit? This definitely is NOT a book that you can read or should be able to read, process,
and comprehend on a first read through.
On page 850, he explains what he considers to be the characteristic of language. He says that language
is just a system for phonic images and were we re first introduced to his obsession with sound image,
..auditory image becomes associated with a concept..

When Best Buy, the leading American consumer electronics retailer planned to expand its operations
outside the United States in December 2000, they earmarked Canada as the first foreign country for its
international expansion strategy. The choice was mainly driven by the fact that Canada was its closest
neighbor with a retail market that was largely similar to the domestic United States market, which
Best Buy had already dominated. The Canadian consumer electronic retail market was largely
fragmented, with the dominant force being future shop which had 15% of the market share. The
original expansion strategy for Best Buy was to enter the Canadian market and directly compete with

Best Buy had already committed itself to a number of property leases before the merger.
The business risks that accompanied the move included the fear that the two competing brands, now
subsidiaries of the same company, would cannibalize each other s sales, thus splitting the profits. Also,
there were concerns that the duplication of roles that would result from each company having its own
distinct management structure would increase operational costs, minimizing overall profitability.
Another fear was that there would be diminished brand awareness for both brands as consumers would
treat the two retailers as one company, thus benefiting the competition (Laurent, Lambkin 803).
However, the strategy proved successful. This was largely because the two retailers had their own
separate operational structure and style that attracted different market segments (Bala, Lorange 4 11),
which avoided sales cannibalization between them.
Within the first year, positive results were already being seen; a case in point that proved the strategy
was successful was in Mississauga where the sales revenue only dropped by $2 million from $40

Dinosaur extinction: An analysis of events and theories that possibly led to the dinosaurs demise.
Ever since the history of Earth has been studied using fossil records, extinctions have always been the
object of fascination and interest, particularly the mass extinctions that occurred throughout Earth s
history. A mass extinction can be caused by disruptive global environmental changes, where large
numbers of species have become extinct (Urry et al. 2008). There have been five major extinctions

According to the research made by Alvarez (1980), it was due to an asteroid impact that single
handedly destroyed dinosaurs to extinction. Advocacy of this mechanism has been aided by the
availability and tangibility of supporting evidence in the form of impact craters the Chicxulub crater in
the Yucatan Peninsula s date and timing of impact (dating produced an almost exact date of 65 million
years ago), location, enormous size 170 km (Hildebrand et al.1991) and its high iridium content ( a
metal not commonly found at the Earth s surface) make it seem that with a theoretical asteroid 10 km
big caused the crater great damage at the end of the Cretaceous (Alvarez et al. 1980).
How exactly the asteroid damaged the Earth remains unclear, but the power released by such an
impact is unquestionable. Effects possibly include reduced sunlight over a period of several months
which possibly led to the decline or even total halt of primary production (via photosynthesis). One of
the dominant signatures of the extinction at the KT boundary was the low activity of primary
production, the possibility of reduced sunlight is high (Schulte et al. 2010) . Even if the primary
production proved to be on a decline when this impact occurred, there is still some uncertainties as to
where exactly the impact hit. This was why asymmetries in subsurface features of the Chicxulub crater

Vietnam War
The Vietnam War is one of the most disgraceful periods in American history. Not only did the greatest
superpower in the world get bested by an almost third world nation, but we lost badly. Perhaps this
war could have been won, or even prevented in the first place. The United States could have and
should have won this war, with a combination of better weapons usage, better tactics, and better
support from their home country.
Before the War
Even years before the war, Vietnam was a hotly disputed territory. Many countries had taken Vietnam
over, and after World War II, Vietnam was in the hands of France. Obviously, the Vietnamese wanted
their own country, and their long history of being a colony prompted the oppressed people to fight for

Napalm was also another mistake. By using a flammable jelly to literally burn up all of North
Vietnam, the U.S. not only killed more civilians than soldiers, but also raised several ethical questions.
Napalm coated anything it came within reach of, and burned continuously for up to a week. Doctors
who treated napalm victims said their wounds would still glow green with heat at night, while the
patients writhed in pain. Also, many international scientists and influential people around the world
protested the use of napalm very adamantly.
Yet another type of bomb was dropped by the B 52s, this one containing a large amount of the
defoliating gas, Agent Orange. Hundreds of millions of acres of jungle were destroyed and even more
fields and rice paddies were poisoned because of Agent Orange. South Vietnamese farmers
complained about the detrimental effect Agent Orange had on their rice paddies, and its use flooded
camps and cities with refugees from outlying areas where entire crops were destroyed. Agent Orange
was supposed to eliminate the VC s advantageous hiding places, but it only turned the people we were
fighting for against us even more. Even more so, Agent Orange cause countless birth defects and
deadly illnesses in returning vets. Thousands of soldiers came back with reoccurring sicknesses, and
even cancer. 6 The use of Agent Orange was perhaps one of the largest mistakes made in Vietnam.

Why Canada Is An Astounding Nation
People in the United States joke a lot about Canadians, which makes sense since Canada can be very
strange. Canada never declared independence. Justin Bieber is from Canada. Canada s military is non
existent. They give out the Juno award. Their accents sound kind of silly, eh? Canada could improve a
couple things, but Canada, however, possesses many admirable qualities, some that others praise them
for, and others that outsiders do not notice. I, personally, have to come to admire Canada for 3 reasons,
which I try to emulate. My scarlet letter honors these efforts. I think Canada is an astounding nation
because their global influence lies largely below the radar, their government remains at peace with
virtually everyone, and the Canadian people are generally known for their genuine kindness and care
for others. Canada benefits economically and politically because many countries don t take them
seriously as a world power. Foreign nations are not alarmed when Canada adds its name late to treaties
and economic policies late in a process. Despite this, Canadian decisions play a major role on the
world stage, as they did in 1923 s Chanak crisis, where they kept Britain from intervening in wars in
the former Ottoman Empire simply by refusing to help. Although I would like to be respected in my
lifetime, being underestimated by the common people could benefit me in many ways. If there was
someone who stepped out to lead a group that was simply not a good leader, I could quietly

All I Ever Needed To Know About Love Essay
All I ever needed to know about love, I learned form the Goo Goo Dolls. This band with songs such as
Iris , Slide , and Black Balloon speak of the longing that comes with love lost for example in the song
Black Balloon The singer talks about the fact that A thousand other boys could never reach you, how
could I have been the one. In Iris The speaker talks about the fact that regardless of what the world
thinks, his love will continue, you can t fight the tears that ain t coming, but I know you can feel me
some how... I don t want the world to see me cause I don t think that they d understand. In the song

While the context of what love is has changed over the years the same basic elements have stayed the
same, longing, desire, hope, despair, are all constant throughout the years of songs. What was taboo a
few years ago is now almost normal; 15 years ago there were few songs about sex now almost every
song contains a reference to it, and if not directly to it than something that is a figurative reference to
sex. The Goo Goo Dolls in their song Slide defiantly refer to sex I wanna wakeup where you are, I
won t say anything at all... however later in their song that also advocate marriage May do you wanna

talking about one night stands the Goo Goo Dolls speak about love and commitment.
The Goo Goo Dolls in their song Iris speak about a taboo love I don t want the world to see me, cause
I don t think that they d understand... the even talk about the Hollywood spin on romance when
everything feels like the movies, yeah you bleed just to know your alive. This is very important in the
world today as we as a society often look to people who have no morals at all for moral guidance and
people who have no idea what love is (meaning they misunderstand love) for marriage counseling or
to model our relationships after.

The Manhattan Project Essay
The Manhattan Project was a very important event throughout the World War II history. It began the
development of the atomic bomb and other nuclear weapons that were of good help during the war. It
first began with a German scientist separating the uranium atom, which made people be scared of
what Hitler might be capable of. Also Hitler and his people had begun discovering new types of
weapons that were useful for them in the war. Something that apparently Hitler did not quite think
about, was the persecution of Jewish scientists such as Albert Einstein, who could very well use his
abilities against Hitler. Albert Einstein was a Jewish refugee in the United States. Another very
important scientist, although not Jewish, was Enrico Fermi, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

On July of 1945, J Robert Oppenheimer tests the first bomb at Trinity State, near Alamogordo, New

on top of a tower. Once exploded, there was a blinding flash which could be seen from 200 miles
away. It also grew up to 40,000 feet and damaged some of the homes near it that were 100 miles away.
After this explosion President Truman, all the way from Postdam, Germany, declares that the project
was successful. Later on we see how there were more bombings being made, not only this one at
Trinity State. The United States was trying to make Japan surrender but they denied it. Because of this
the United States developed a new bomb named little boy which was detonated in Hiroshima, Japan.
On August 6, 1945 it exploded with an altitude of 1,750 feet. Over 69% of Hiroshima s buildings were
destroyed and about 7% damaged. About 80,000 (or about 30%) of the people in Hiroshima were
killed instantly and another 70,000 were injured. After this occurring, Japan still didn t want to
surrender which caused the United States to develop another bomb. In August 9, 1945, the next bomb
named Fat Man took place at Nagasaki, Japan. This attack destroyed about 44% of the city, killed
about 35,000 people and about 60,000 were injured. Emperor Hirohito from Japan had enough of

Analysis Of Porter s Forces On Apple s Strategic Management
Executive Summary: Michael Porter s five forces model is widely used in strategic management for
analyzing how a firm can generate or consistently maintain competitive advantage (Porter, 2008
p.79.). I chose Apple to analyse Porter s forces on as it has dominated the technology industry and it is
arguably the first to come out with innovative and revolutionary products. Even though Apple s
products are expensive compared to the competitors; Apple makes up for this through reliability and
quality. Throughout this report, it will show the importance of using Porter s forces on Apple s
strategic segment of the business. Threat of new entry: Around the world it is widely known that

Supplier power: Apple has around 156 suppliers (Cult of Mac, 2012). The threat of suppliers is not so
severe. There are many organizations operating in the consumer electronics industry, and they tend to
be more elastic with respect to the suppliers power (Apple Inc, 2104). For example; if a supplier
increases its prices, the organisation looks for a substitute as the firm diverts choice. Suppliers have
some sort of power as they provide Apple with highly differentiated materials for the production
process. However, Apple does acquire manufacturing costs, component costs and labour costs in order
to innovate products to supply back to the customers (Apple Inc, 2012). Furthermore, Apple s brand
power, mode of competition and purchasing volumes acquire intermediate goods and components
from suppliers within the organisation as well as outside (Heracleous, 2013 p.97). Apple practises
taper integration where they own retail outlets but also affiliate with other retailers (Apple Inc, 2012).
Buyer power: A threat of buyers is not considered as a threat to Apple. Firstly, Apple has millions of
buyers, inclusive of large and small corporations. Secondly, Apple s products are unique and
differentiated showing the buyer power is low, and hence reduces price sensitivity (Apple Inc, 2014).
Thirdly, price is not the most important factor in their buying decisions it

An Explanation Of The Word Ghetto
Nicole, I really enjoyed your post. The word ghetto stems from when European cities in which the
Jews were restricted, and later used to describe a slum section of an American city, predominantly
occupied by a minority group who live under social and economic pressures. The word represents an
institutional and historical basis of racial exclusion. The word ghetto also has a particular racial
component, and defines those associated with the word as being represented by social isolation,
residential segregation, gross inequality, consistent poverty, and crime. Delinquent behavior from
those considered to be poor or lower class may actually be a protest against the norms and values of
the middle class, per theorist Cohen. In addition, their

Globalization and Immigration
Introduction
Nowadays migration is getting to be one of the dominant characteristics of the modern world since at
the present moment that movement of people and migration of citizens from one country to another
become a norm. Not surprisingly that such unparallel and extremely high level of migration results in
substantial demographic, ethnical and socio cultural changes in many countries of the world.
In this respect, it is worthy of mention that such a situation with the migration is the result of the
recent trend in the world economy which is characterized by processes which are generally called
globalization. The process of globalization is overwhelming and involves practically all countries of
the world with rare exceptions which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Naturally, it resulted in an extreme specialization of countries that makes their economies one sided,
and consequently more exposed to economic and social crisis.
However, globalization developed international contacts and made it possible to cooperate on the
global scale. As a result, nowadays, basically due to the high level of development of IT and Internet,
specialists physically living in different countries of the world may work on one and the same product.
So, it may be said that globalization eliminated geographical boundaries between countries (Gomory
2002:187).
As for its effects, they are quite contradictive. The contrast is particularly obvious between well
developed countries and developing ones. In short, its effect may be expressed in one phrase, richer
countries become richer, and poor countries become poorer. Though it sounds a bit radical and more
precisely, it should be said that globalization makes developing countries more dependant on well
developed and it also makes practically all the countries of the world more submitted to global crisis
since their economies are closely interlinked than a crisis in one country would lead to the same effect
on economies of other countries that are its economic partners. In this respect, migration seems to be
probably the most effective by such a striking contrast that leads to high level of emigration from
developing countries and respectively high level of

on the agar plate four time, propose is to isolate the unknown bacteria. Therefore, the first time to
streak on the plate, there are million of bacteria on the loop. For that reason, we need to sterilize the

Ans: Because in a blood agar contains more nutrient than a nutrient agar. In our mouth it could have
more different species bacteria that blood agar will be a great place for them to grow.
8. Are a large number of microorganisms found in the mouth a cause for concern? Explain.
Ans: In my opinion, it might not necessary to worry about microorganisms in our mouth. There are
some of them are harmless bacteria, and keep balance in our mouth. Therefore, depending on the
species we may take more concern.

admired and appreciated. There is a chronic lack of empathy as well as inflated self esteem and the
belief that one is entitled to the adoration of others. Narcissistic Personality Disorder is classified
under Cluster B, showcasing more erratic and emotional behavior which can be seen in the film

Paplona Controversy
As the Muslim invasion quickly spread, it reached Pamplona in the Basque Country, submitting the
city to its rule in 716. The Pamplonians, however, did not take to their new rulers, and in 740 expelled
their Arab governor and his garrison. This independence would last very little time, but it was the
precursor of what was to come; in 799, the inhabitants of Pamplona successfully revolted from their
Banu Qasi rulers under the leadership of Velasco. Again, this autonomy was short lived, as in 802 the
city was taken by the emir of Córdoba, Hisham I. Pamplona would, however, be permanently freed
from the yoke of Islam when the Franks under Charlemagne captured the city in 806. Pamplona
finally became fully sovereign and independent in the year of 824 when they rebelled against the
Franks under the leadership of Iñigo Aritza, thoroughly defeating them at the pass of Roncesvalles.
With this, the Kingdom of Pamplona was born. Until the fall of the Banu Qasi in 907, the Kings of
Pamplona often intermarried with the Banu Qasi in order to maintain alliances that helped preserve the
safety of the kingdom. During this time period, the Kingdom of Pamplona expanded greatly, taking in

Atp Human Movement Process
ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is a molecule used for human movement. Even though ATP is being
constantly produced, it is not produced fast enough to keep us moving for long periods of time. Thus,
we have the three metabolic pathways; the ATP/CP (creatine phosphate) pathway, the glycolytic
pathway, and the aerobic oxidative pathway to continuously provide our bodies with ATP during any
activity. Each pathway has a storage of ATP which can only rebuild so quickly. Once ATP depletes
from one system the next system takes over. The ATP/CP pathway requires no oxygen for energy use
and is utilized during short periods of time; no more than 3 to 15 seconds of high intensity work
before ATP runs out. For activities such as a 50 meter dash or a 1 rep ... Show more content on

To prepare for a marathon I would do activities that last for long periods of time to help build my
endurance. Endurance exercises stimulate certain changes to help the body progress as more strain is

push through the lactic acid. If I was an experienced runner, I would aim to do activities other than
running to improve my fitness and prevent and rehabilitate any injuries I may have acquired from
running too much. A total body strength training session such as swimming or biking would help keep
my heart rate up and help build my endurance. However, if I was brand new to running, I would first
start by running a few times a week, around 20 minutes a day depending on how my cardio was and

The Rise Of Organized Crime
The rise of organized crime In The United States By Jeremy King Welcome to the 1920s a truly new
era. Automobiles were becoming affordable to the average American the Great War had ended and the
nation was heading into a time of prosperity and temperance. On January 16th 1920 the production
transportation and sale of intoxication liquors was made illegal. The nation was dry, at least that s
what the country wanted. In reality the nation was about to be flooded with alcohol. This is when
organized crime really starts to develop in the United States. In this paper we will cover a few
notorious players including Al Capone, Charlie Lucky Luciano, Myer Lansky, and briefly Enoch
Johnson. We will follow their lives from birth until their fate be it death imprisonment or the departure

proven to slowly accomplishing this. Even if it meant hurting the people that you love. The Victorian
Era came change. This caused conflicts between right and wrong for a women during this time.
Feminism took a huge role in the roaring twenties that no one saw coming.
For example a new woman was born , which I believe is huge part of the feminists movements,
instigating many changes to the societies to come. Starting a different stereotype for women. Before
the twenties, the typical women would be what people consider today to be stay at home mom . The
women would stay home while the men worked; that meant cleaning, cooking, taking care of the kids,
and doing whatever is necessary to please the standards of their husbands. Many women had carry the
expectations that were held by their mothers. I disagree with the typical women during this time
because I believe that a women should be independent without being tied down by a man.
Another example, women started to make changes for the better. Believing that they could

The Main Components Of The Porter s Model
ASSIGNMENT 5 1. What are the main components of the porter s model? PORTER S FIVE
FORCES MODEL: Before entering any industry, company must classify various factors that lead to
competitive pressure hinder growth of the company. Michael porter provided a model that consists of
five forces within an industry and considering those five forces a company can identify its strengths
weaknesses within that industry in which it thinks to operate. Five forces of porter s model are as
follows: 1. Rivalry inside Industry: Company has to identify the competitors inside the industry
competing for the similar products and services. Company has to identify in a particular industry, how
many firms are operating and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the buyers are less, when buyers put large orders, alternate suppliers are available within an
industry in that the bargaining power of buyers is high. 4. Bargaining power of suppliers: A producing
industry requires raw materials other supplies to carry on their production. When the suppliers are few
and buyers are more, when products or services are not freely available, when substitutes are not
easily available in that situation the bargaining power of suppliers is high. 5. Threat of New Entrants:
It relates to the entry barriers to the New Entrants. When there are strict government rules regulations
within that industry for new entrants then it becomes difficult for new entrants to operate within that
industry. As the new entrants has to face the competitors as well. 2. What the Harley Davidson case is
about? Harley Davidson is the company producing heavy motorcycles for its customers. It vision is to
provide extraordinary motorcycles to its customers. It was first to launch the ladies of Harley for
women. So, it has a first mover advantage among competitors. It has various strengths such as: strong
marketing of its products, product quality, it has good brand recognition among competitors, good

Incident Background On September 24, 2010, a laptop was stolen from an unlocked Urology office at
the Henry Ford Health Systems hospital. The laptop did contain password protection software;
however, it may not have been enough to permit access if the thief had advanced knowledge in
computers. Additionally, the information stored on the laptop did not include social security or health
insurance information, but instead held patient names, medical record numbers, dates of birth,
telephone numbers, e mail addresses, and treatment and doctor visits (Moscaritolo, 2010, p. 1). It is
unknown how many records were contained on the laptop, but all records were related to prostate
services that were provided during an eleven year span.
Reaction to Incident Once it was revealed that the laptop was missing, Meredith Phillips, the chief
privacy officer for the hospital, notified all involved patients by letter and offered each of them a free
one year credit monitoring service (Henry Ford Health System, 2010). The hospital also established a
telephone help line that addressed patient concerns (toll free), as well as initiated an internal
investigation to determine if appropriate security measures were followed. Furthermore, all employees
were re trained in security procedures and

Boxing Should Not be Banned Essay
Boxing Should Not be Banned In recent years, there have been many campaigns to try and have
boxing banned. Those in favour of banning boxing argue that it is dangerous, potentially life
threatening and generally unsafe. It can also be argued that it is immoral to give someone money for
fighting with someone else. Those who are against boxing being banned argue that it is no more
dangerous than other sports. In this essay, I will critically examine each of these arguments and
demonstrate to the reader that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All boxers obviously believe that the benefits of the ancient sport outweigh its negative side. This is
shown in their enthusiasm to take potentially high risks in order to gain the rewards of winning. Like
all sports, there is an element of danger involved however we have the freedom to decide whether or
not to take part in it.
One of the main arguments for boxing being banned is that serious medical injury can result from
boxing due to continuous blows to the head. In boxing when the head is knocked sideways, the brain
swirls in the skull, its layers shearing and sliding off one another, tearing vital nerve fibres . Statistics
show that 15 20% of boxers ending a professional career develop the punch drunk syndrome . This
syndrome consists of the brain weakening, loss of memory, slowed speech and difficulty in walking.
Also boxing can effect the time of death. A professional boxer dies around 10 15 years earlier than the
average life expectancy. People argue that a sport, which can result in players suffering from brain
damage and cerebral ischemia ( a disruption of blood supply to an area of the brain ) should be banned
straight away because of the life threatening risks involved
However, Dr Nigel Warburton, a lecturer in philosophy for the Open University, claims that the

Can The Effective Treatment Of Wastewater In Developing
Can the effective treatment of wastewater in developing countries have an impact on the development
of antibiotic resistance?
Introduction:
The emergence of resistance in bacteria is primarily related to human and agricultural use of natural
and synthetic antibiotics. Most antibiotics aren t full metabolised and together with resistant bacteria
are excreted where they can reach sewage systems and wastewater treatment plants. (Luczkiewicz et
al., 2011). Standard wastewater treatment conventions have not been shown to be fully effective in
reducing the number of resistant bacteria. Unfortunately, some have been shown to positively select
for resistant isolates. (Luczkiewicz et al., 2011). Current treatments in developed countries are quite ...

However, recent research into the use of constructed wetlands has provided developing countries with
a more suitable alternative to treating wastewater. Additionally, these wetlands may provide a solution
to the spread of antibiotic resistant isolates by removing antibiotics from the wastewater. (Standard
For Sewage Treatment Plants In Developing Countries., Humans and the natural environment slides).
Wastewater is a potential source of antimicrobial resistant pathogens:
As mentioned previously the treatment of wastewater in developing countries is not very common due
to the expense, resources, and time required to treat wastewater effectively. (figure 1) (kaur 2012) And
for some areas these wastewater treatment plants are just not viable, and much of the waste is
discarded into waters where not only pathogenic bacteria can disseminate but also resistant bacteria
and genes. However, in areas that are fortunate enough to have sanitation facilities and conventional
treatments such as activated sludge method, drying beds technology and ozonation or chlorination as a
disinfection method, they have not been shown to be completely effective in the removal of antibiotics
and resistant varieties and even promote resistance in some cases. Evidence for this is

USing both feet stomping with both heel and toes to create more speed once use to it. This makes
beats in songs for james easier to play because it s less working in the leg muscle and toes giving him
a break in all of their songs. James has many inspirations in drummers but he is an inspiration to many
people as well including me. James is my inspiration because he made modern drumming much more
enjoyable to watch and to hear. He made it easier to play but much more complex for other people. Its
not easy for most people but it s possible to learn the ways he has made and the techniques he uses.
Only taking hours of practice to master his wonderful techniques, he impresses the crowd every time
he picks up his sticks and plays. He is a crowd pleaser and will never let his fans down. James will be
the best one day as long as he keeps his motivation towards his drumming and the attitude to playing
them. James motivated me to play my instrument because of the attitude he wakes with and sticks

The web gives the chance to share news and even lets people talk to one another. The internet spreads information and ideas quickly and reaches out too many people. Much of what our society sees and reads often come from sources provided by the internet. Based on these sources, knowledge is gained, wither it is real or fake. • 5. The Ideology Of Planned Parenthood The Ideology of Planned Parenthood Prolife or prochoice? This is the debate that seems ongoing for as long as I can remember yet seems to have risen in intensity over the years. We have more recently seen things in the news about defunding Planned Parenthood and there always seems to be protestors on the streets no matter where you go screaming at you their point of view. This essay will focus around the ideology of Planned Parenthood as an organization. Why would people dislike an organization so open to the idea of a human s right to choose what happens in their own body? I would like to look at both viewpoints of this argument because even though I have my own beliefs I have always been very intrigued in others as well. While I could easily write a paper simply on prolife or prochoice I want to go deeper than that into this well known, and well argued topic. I will mainly focus on the defunding argument of the organization as well as what they stand for as a whole and what will happen if they no longer exist. The most recent debate to hit the news has been the defund Planned Parenthood vote done by the House of Representatives which passed by a close vote of 240 189. Although passed it did go on to be vetoed later on down the path to it becoming a true thing. • 8. Erikson s Theory Of Psychosocial Development Essay Growing up experiencing his own identity crisis and misfortunes during his childhood, Erik Homberger Erikson, a well known psychologist, used this as an inspiration to further one s understanding of a healthy personality and sense of self. This gave rise to his successful establishment of the theory of Psychosocial Development. Although derived from Sigmund Freud s theory of Psychosexual Development, Erickson believed that a person s social experiences cause a great impact on their sense of identity throughout their entire lifespan in eight different stages of development, as opposed to the five stages Freud assumed ended when a person reaches early adulthood (Cherry. 2016). Erickson theorized that a person s ability to successfully complete a stage of development, regardless of their developmental challenges, directly affected the outcome of a healthy or unhealthy personality and sense of self. In his attempt to exceed further in understanding how a person s social environment affects their personality and identity, Erikson s findings became great contributions to the study of psychology. On June 15, 1902, Erikson was born in Frankfurt, Germany, to Karla Abrahamsen, a Jewish stockbroker, as Erik Salomonsen at birth (GoodTherapy. 2007 16). Uncontrollable as they may seem, our natural inclinations and mental faculties have actually effected immense social change on both a physical and mental level. As oxymoronic as it may seem, it is ultimately our innate passions that both drive conflict and allow for cooperative endeavor, and Thomas Hobbes s masterful 17th century work Leviathan captures this point beautifully. Far from perfect. Our passions do not even come close to fitting us in the perfect world. In fact, they prevent its existence. The nature of man then is one of passions and thusly, one of war. According to Hobbes, the nature of war consisteth not in actual fighting, but in the known disposition thereto during all the time there is no assurance to the contrary. (13) War is not a state of fighting, it is a state of being; specifically a state of being in which safety and protection of one s life or happiness are close to non existent. Coupled with the very real ideas of exhaustible resources and the will to survive, this war or natural world is then populated by beasts unreasoned beings dominated by their psyches and unable to coexist in a society. Hobbes concluded that in the nature of man, we find three principal causes of quarrel. First, competition; secondly, diffidence; thirdly, glory. () These three passions are at once dangerous to the natural world, but necessary for the artificial world to exist. The competition to which Hobbes speaks is a competition for power. In his observations, it is the powerful that are happy and can assure their continued felicity. Thus, competition begets violence. Diffidence implies the defense of oneself and your well being in fear of it being stripped of you. Diffidence seems to beget violence as well. And glory begets the most violence. • 11. Driver Responsibility Program Analysis According to Oxford Dictionaries, surcharge mean: An additional charge or payment. For the state of Texas and New Jersey, this law has been put in place for their drivers who commit a traffic ticket offence. The Driver Responsibility Program, created in 2003, requires drivers to pay annual surcharges on top of the fines and legal fees attached to traffic violations, such as driving without insurance or while intoxicated. These surcharges keep people from registering their car, getting their license and being legal on the road. This law have more illegal drivers on the Texas roads. Drivers aren t automatically levied surcharges for minor tickets for speeding or car accidents, but a point system is used to punish repeat offenders. If a driver accrues six points in a three year period, a surcharge is assessed. Failure to pay results in a suspended driver s license. Even for those who know about the payment options, though, the application process can be burdensome, critics say. It requires applicants to get documents notarized and to provide financial documentation, including an income tax form. Bill Lewis testified on behalf of Mothers Against Drunk Driving , an organization that supported the program when it was first enacted but now wants lawmakers to reform the program to better assist the millions of drivers caught up in the surcharges. Staudt said she believes the program is unconstitutional because it penalizes drivers twice for the same violation. Out of the 3.2 billion dollars billed to Texas drivers only 1.2 billion dollars has been collected. • 16. Example Of Holistic Care Holistic Care is seen as the way in which the patient is cared for as a whole by looking not just at their physical or medical needs but also at their spiritual, psychological and social needs while in the clinical setting (Johns C. 2012, Rushton L. 2014). One of the main outcomes for holistic care is patients receiving the best standard of care and also patient satisfaction in their care. This is due to the patient being cared for in a way that doesn t just look at their disease and uses person centered care instead of the traditional medical model of nursing (McGeorge N. 2010). In order to adequately care for the patients that we see in clinical settings we must look at them holistically and not care for them solely using the medical model of nursing. Holistic care is especially important for patients who are under going surgery, like this patient who was getting a short gamma nail placed in her femur, as it helps to promote healing post operatively by encouraging compliance with the care they need. Ferdinand De Sassuare Reflection Essay Reflection (Page 850) In Ferdinand De Saussure s Course in General Linguistics, almost the entire reading from our assigned texts that is, has conventionally been summarized on page 850. Overall, Sassuare explains his analysis of language by describing it as a system of signs and comparing/contrasting words in a language to other words. He says that words are what they are because of what they re not, and language wouldn t exist without sound image. Saussure analized language as a system of linguistic signs that he used to explain the ..indefinite plan of jumbled ideas.. inside our minds (Saussure 856). Sassaure s diction on page 850 really stuck out to me obviously because it s the first example of his strange thought process. His diction is rather strange at times, but I thought this page served as a great introduction of what type of adventure you re about to embark on trying to follow along and get inside of Sassaures head for the rest of this piece. For example, who characterizes language and speech as heterogenous or homogenous? What does that even mean? What is a speech circuit? This definitely is NOT a book that you can read or should be able to read, process, and comprehend on a first read through. When Best Buy, the leading American consumer electronics retailer planned to expand its operations outside the United States in December 2000, they earmarked Canada as the first foreign country for its international expansion strategy. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rebranding the Future Shop franchises would be a lengthy and costly process. Future shop already had brand recognition as well as brand loyalty in Canada Best Buy had already committed itself to a number of property leases before the merger. The business risks that accompanied the move included the fear that the two competing brands, now subsidiaries of the same company, would cannibalize each other s sales, thus splitting the profits. Also, there were concerns that the duplication of roles that would result from each company having its own distinct management structure would increase operational costs, minimizing overall profitability. Another fear was that there would be diminished brand awareness for both brands as consumers would treat the two retailers as one company, thus benefiting the competition (Laurent, Lambkin 803). However, the strategy proved successful. This was largely because the two retailers had their own separate operational structure and style that attracted different market segments (Bala, Lorange 4 11), which avoided sales cannibalization between them. Within the first year, positive results were already being seen; a case in point that proved the strategy was successful was in Mississauga where the sales revenue only dropped by $2 million from $40 million to $38 million while a Best Buy outlet just across the street recorded $30 million in sales (Chandrasekhar.5) From this market experiment in Canada, Best Buy learnt that ... Not only did the greatest superpower in the world get bested by an almost third world nation, but we lost badly. Perhaps this war could have been won, or even prevented in the first place. The United States could have and should have won this war, with a combination of better weapons usage, better tactics, and better support from their home country. Before the War Even years before the war, Vietnam was a hotly disputed territory. Many countries had taken Vietnam over, and after World War II, Vietnam was in the hands of France. Napalm was also another mistake. By using a flammable jelly to literally burn up all of North Vietnam, the U.S. not only killed more civilians than soldiers, but also raised several ethical questions. Napalm coated anything it came within reach of, and burned continuously for up to a week. Doctors who treated napalm victims said their wounds would still glow green with heat at night, while the patients writhed in pain. Also, many international scientists and influential people around the world protested the use of napalm very adamantly. Yet another type of bomb was dropped by the B 52s, this one containing a large amount of the defoliating gas, Agent Orange. Hundreds of millions of acres of jungle were destroyed and even more fields and rice paddies were poisoned because of Agent Orange. South Vietnamese farmers complained about the detrimental effect Agent Orange had on their rice paddies, and its use flooded camps and cities with refugees from outlying areas where entire crops were destroyed. Justin Bieber is from Canada. Canada s military is non existent. They give out the Juno award. Their accents sound kind of silly, eh? Canada could improve a couple things, but Canada, however, possesses many admirable qualities, some that others praise them for, and others that outsiders do not notice. I, personally, have to come to admire Canada for 3 reasons, which I try to emulate. My scarlet letter honors these efforts. I think Canada is an astounding nation because their global influence lies largely below the radar, their government remains at peace with virtually everyone, and the Canadian people are generally known for their genuine kindness and care for others. Canada benefits economically and politically because many countries don t take them seriously as a world power. Foreign nations are not alarmed when Canada adds its name late to treaties and economic policies late in a process. Despite this, Canadian decisions play a major role on the world stage, as they did in 1923 s Chanak crisis, where they kept Britain from intervening in wars in the former Ottoman Empire simply by refusing to help. Although I would like to be respected in my lifetime, being underestimated by the common people could benefit me in many ways. It began the development of the atomic bomb and other nuclear weapons that were of good help during the war. Also Hitler and his people had begun discovering new types of weapons that were useful for them in the war. There are many organizations operating in the consumer electronics industry, and they tend to be more elastic with respect to the suppliers power (Apple Inc, 2104). For example; if a supplier increases its prices, the organisation looks for a substitute as the firm diverts choice. Suppliers have some sort of power as they provide Apple with highly differentiated materials for the production process. However, Apple does acquire manufacturing costs, component costs and labour costs in order to innovate products to supply back to the customers (Apple Inc, 2012). Furthermore, Apple s brand power, mode of competition and purchasing volumes acquire intermediate goods and components from suppliers within the organisation as well as outside (Heracleous, 2013 p.97). Apple practises taper integration where they own retail outlets but also affiliate with other retailers (Apple Inc, 2012). Buyer power: A threat of buyers is not considered as a threat to Apple. The Pamplonians, however, did not take to their new rulers, and in 740 expelled their Arab governor and his garrison. This independence would last very little time, but it was the precursor of what was to come; in 799, the inhabitants of Pamplona successfully revolted from their Banu Qasi rulers under the leadership of Velasco. Again, this autonomy was short lived, as in 802 the city was taken by the emir of Córdoba, Hisham I. Feminism by: Laura Capellán Feminism is the belief in political, economic and social equality of the sexes and is one of the leading conflicts in today s society. In the past years, women had faced many battles to fight and give these rights to women who have been deprived of their rights and privileges that were never given to them by men. I believe that every person is entitled to have equal opportunities in this world. Feminism has proven to slowly accomplishing this. Even if it meant hurting the people that you love. The Victorian Era came change. This caused conflicts between right and wrong for a women during this time. Feminism took a huge role in the roaring twenties that no one saw coming. For example a new woman was born , which I believe is huge part of the feminists movements, instigating many changes to the societies to come. Starting a different stereotype for women. Before the twenties, the typical women would be what people consider today to be stay at home mom . The women would stay home while the men worked; that meant cleaning, cooking, taking care of the kids, and doing whatever is necessary to please the standards of their husbands. Many women had carry the expectations that were held by their mothers. I disagree with the typical women during this time because I believe that a women should be independent without being tied down by a man. The laptop did contain password protection software; however, it may not have been enough to permit access if the thief had advanced knowledge in computers. Additionally, the information stored on the laptop did not include social security or health insurance information, but instead held patient names, medical record numbers, dates of birth, telephone numbers, e mail addresses, and treatment and doctor visits (Moscaritolo, 2010, p. 1). It is unknown how many records were contained on the laptop, but all records were related to prostate services that were provided during an eleven year span. Reaction to Incident Once it was revealed that the laptop was missing, Meredith Phillips, the chief privacy officer for the hospital, notified all involved patients by letter and offered each of them a free one year credit monitoring service (Henry Ford Health System, 2010). The hospital also established a telephone help line that addressed patient concerns (toll free), as well as initiated an internal investigation to determine if appropriate security measures were followed. • 43. Boxing Should Not be Banned Essay Boxing Should Not be Banned In recent years, there have been many campaigns to try and have boxing banned. Those in favour of banning boxing argue that it is dangerous, potentially life threatening and generally unsafe. It can also be argued that it is immoral to give someone money for fighting with someone else. Those who are against boxing being banned argue that it is no more dangerous than other sports. In this essay, I will critically examine each of these arguments and demonstrate to the reader that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All boxers obviously believe that the benefits of the ancient sport outweigh its negative side. This is shown in their enthusiasm to take potentially high risks in order to gain the rewards of winning. Like all sports, there is an element of danger involved however we have the freedom to decide whether or not to take part in it. One of the main arguments for boxing being banned is that serious medical injury can result from boxing due to continuous blows to the head. In boxing when the head is knocked sideways, the brain swirls in the skull, its layers shearing and sliding off one another, tearing vital nerve fibres . Statistics show that 15 20% of boxers ending a professional career develop the punch drunk syndrome . This syndrome consists of the brain weakening, loss of memory, slowed speech and difficulty in walking. Also boxing can effect the time of death. A professional boxer dies around 10 15 years earlier than the average life expectancy. People argue that a sport, which can result in players suffering from brain damage and cerebral ischemia ( a disruption of blood supply to an area of the brain ) should be banned straight away because of the life threatening risks involved However, Dr Nigel Warburton, a lecturer in philosophy for the Open University, claims that the number of ... • 44. Can The Effective Treatment Of Wastewater In Developing Can the effective treatment of wastewater in developing countries have an impact on the development of antibiotic resistance? Introduction: The emergence of resistance in bacteria is primarily related to human and agricultural use of natural and synthetic antibiotics. Most antibiotics aren t full metabolised and together with resistant bacteria are excreted where they can reach sewage systems and wastewater treatment plants. (Luczkiewicz et al., 2011). Standard wastewater treatment conventions have not been shown to be fully effective in reducing the number of resistant bacteria. Unfortunately, some have been shown to positively select for resistant isolates. (Luczkiewicz et al., 2011). Current treatments in developed countries are quite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, recent research into the use of constructed wetlands has provided developing countries with a more suitable alternative to treating wastewater. Additionally, these wetlands may provide a solution to the spread of antibiotic resistant isolates by removing antibiotics from the wastewater. (Standard For Sewage Treatment Plants In Developing Countries., Humans and the natural environment slides). Wastewater is a potential source of antimicrobial resistant pathogens: As mentioned previously the treatment of wastewater in developing countries is not very common due to the expense, resources, and time required to treat wastewater effectively. (figure 1) (kaur 2012) And for some areas these wastewater treatment plants are just not viable, and much of the waste is discarded into waters where not only pathogenic bacteria can disseminate but also resistant bacteria and genes. However, in areas that are fortunate enough to have sanitation facilities and conventional treatments such as activated sludge method, drying beds technology and ozonation or chlorination as a disinfection method, they have not been shown to be completely effective in the removal of antibiotics and resistant varieties and even promote resistance in some cases. Evidence for this is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
