Brush Rifle Essay
This week s article covered the accuracy of hunting rifles and the various methods to obtain the
desired outcomes within a realistic outlook. Unfortunately, we live in a time where 1 Minute of
Angle AR 15 s are commonplace and we tend to overlook the fundamentals of accurate shooting
and place our full and blind trust into our platforms opposed to our skillsets. At this moment I will
cover further into accuracy of both benchrest/target and a solid performing brush rifleand further on
the differences associated with both. On average for a decent brush rifle has the killzone for most

I find this not only insulting, but highly unlikely. I personally didn t buy a Mosin Nagant or a
Ruger American Ranch Rifle chambered in .300 AAC Blackout, with having the expectation of

caliber or the sheer historical nostalgia that came with it. Every Rifle/Pistol is a tool that has a
specific application intended for it s use, I wouldn t try to cut threads with a milling bit. We as both
a firearm enthuisiast/shooting community need to be a little more realistic with our expectations
and fully understand what to expect at out of our chosen platforms. Even if we do fail to
understand, we need to look inwards on our own individual experience and be overly critical of
ourselves. At the end of the day, the shooter does have the heaviest influence on the overall

Public Opinion Of The War
To what extent is public opinion of the war in Afghanistan influenced by the nature of the war?
After the September 2001 terrorist attacks against the world trade centre in the USA, the British
public revealed growing support for joining America in its mission aimed to capture the ringleader
of international terrorism, Osama Bin Laden, and ending the rule of the Talibangovernment of
Afghanistan. In 2001, approximately 65% of the British public supported sending troops to
Afghanistan. In the ten years after the conflict began, public support for this military intervention
has declined significantly.
The Afghan war has triggered the British Election Study to devote a section of the study to public
opinion of the Afghan war, regularly asking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, most scholars who research support for military intervention focus their research around a
cost benefit analysis, for example Gelpi ad lib (2009), Larson (1996) and Clarke (2009). Therefore

focus primarily on the cost benefit analysis aspect of public opinion.
Alexander Moseley s theory of just war (2009) summarises conditions necessary for a nation s
involvement to be just and provides a good framework to base scientific research around. Research
dating back to the thirteenth century shows that public opinion declines as the war is perceived to
be no longer worth fighting or just . His conditions are as follows: (Note that casualty count is

1) The cause is just
2) The warring party must have suffered some injustice at the hands of the opponent

What Is The Relationship Between Of Mice And Men
Of Mice and Men, is a world famous novel which was written by John Steinbeck back in 1937.
The novel is mainly about George and Lennie and their life. But I am not going to write about that.
I am mainly going to focus on the characters which live on the ranch in the book (Crooks, Candy,
Curley and Slim).
These are the characters which work on the ranch:
Crooks takes care of the horses on the ranch. He has quite the history with those animals, the
reason why he is called Crooks is that a horse kicked him and that left him with a crooked back.
Crooks is the only black man on the ranch, therefore he lives alone in his own place in the barn
with the animals. Candy is in a similar position to Crooks, they are both rejected by the ranch hands,

African American Music
African and American Music: Two Distinctive Journeys of Pleasure
African music has been one of the most interesting topics in the music world. Unlike any other
culture, music in Africa is a way of life. Throughout its rich and evolving history, music has always
played a crucial role in the African culture. Consequently, musicin the African society allows
outsiders to gain an insight into the different aspects of their culture and the norms of the society.
American music is rich in history and tradition, but it takes a different path compared to the African
one. Due to the uniqueness of the American and African music, many differences in the way music
is used and viewed tend to exist between the two. Although they may share some similarities, ...

Learning the American music usually takes place through education because most of the music is
noted. However, the majority of African music is transmitted through an oral transition by the
process of enculturation. The African society thinks of music as a fundamental part of their lives.
Therefore, a gradual acquisition of the music is popular since a young age. Because of that, raising
children through enculturation contributes in knowing how to participate effectively. The
enculturation process fosters the belief of collective participation in the African music. Unlike the
American music, the African music includes different forms of participation in which everyone has

Leadership Communication Skills And Effective Leadership
Final Paper
Introduction
Michael Z. Hackman and Craig E. Johnson, co authors of Leadership Communication Skills (1995),
underline leadership as the influential connectivity between humans through the effective
understanding and application of symbols and behavior regulation (p. 428 429). Essentially,
leadership stands possible as motivating others through channels which lead to success, and is
accomplished through meaningful, strategic interaction. Effective leadership, while fundamentally
requires technical knowledge, motivates, develops, and guides others through adept social / people
skills. At the core, leadership is about two way interconnection with others both in self awareness of
how language, behaviors, and actions impact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This collision of cultures and social norms stand unique from any in our past. Strong leaders have a
keen sense for connecting with, communicating, and behaving in a manner that allows the best of
all worlds to come forth and prosper. Alon Lisak, Miriam Erez, Yang Sui, and Cynthia Lee authors
of The positive role of global leaders in enhancing multicultural team innovation (2016) for the
Journal of International Business Studies highlight:
The global identity of a leader represents the leader s sense of belonging to and identification with
multicultural teams... leaders with high global identity convey a sense of inclusion and recognize
team cultural diversity to be an asset and therefore, they foster shared team innovation goals. (p.

The Work Of Art And The Age Of Mechanical Reproduction
According to oxforddictionaries.com the definition of the word media is, The main means of mass
communication (broadcasting, publishing, and the Internet), regarded collectively. Mass
communication inventions like paper, the printing press, and film changed the foundations in
which society was built on. In todays society, it seems like everyday there is a new development in
mediathat will change our lives . Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, are all forms of mass media, but one
could dispute that they are unnecessary to the development of society. Walter Benjamin argues in,
The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction, that with reproducibility of images,
submission towards the film increases thus a lack in the formation of one s own opinions. Today,
if asked, not many would protest the invention and rise of film, but according to Walter Benjamin,
a mass media invention like film, was something society did not need. So, while new mass media
transformations may seem unnecessary to the development of society, there is a chance that over a
longer period of time society would not be able to fathom itself without it.
Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter can be considered mediums of what is produced, the media. One
can look at the distinct similarities between those mediums, and mediums such as paper, the
printing press, or film. Marshall McLuhan s, Understanding Media: The Extensions of Man
proposes that the medium affects the society in which it plays a role not only by

The Impact Of Television On The Television Industry Essay
Whilst much of television s history has relied on specific industrial practices established early in the
1960s, the turn of the century has introduced significant changes to the medium of television. The
current position of television, defined by Lotz as the post network era, illustrates an evolution from
these early industry practices. For the most part, scholars agree that this transition was caused by
changes in the industrial norms of producing, financing, and distributing television, many of which
can be attributed to the arrival of digital technologies. This essay will argue that these changes
throughout the television industry have created a new, distinctive era of television culture.
First and foremost, Lotz provides valuable insight into the distinguishable eras of television
development. The resulting three eras are defined as the network era, multi channel transition and
post network era (7). The network era , which spanned roughly from the early 1950s to the mid
1980s, governed industry operations and created a television experience which characterizes much
of the medium s history. This era was characterized by adapting radio network modes of content
creation, distribution, advertising, and audience measurement to the context of the then new
televisual medium. Dominated by a three network oligopoly network system comprised of ABC,
NBC and CBS critics have often condemned the network era as bland due to its strict censorship
and limited creative

Media Representation Of Women s Sports
When men engage in sports, it is seen and interpreted as an opportunity for them to exhibit
dominance in the masculinity and as an expression of heterosexuality. When women have
traditionally engaged in sports, it has caused commentators to question one s heterosexuality, to
question their femininity, and to almost ridicule the idea of women engaging in a traditionally male
dominated activity. This analysis focuses on media representations of men and women in sports,
and the differences that exist in the way that these stories are covered. This exploration will feature
Canadian based media coverage as it pertains to women and men engaged in hockey.
This analysis shows a changing in the guard of how women s sports are being covered. The
increasing feminism movement in sports with icons such as former MMA UFC fighter Ronda
Rousey leading the way in combination with an increasing in feminine issues being covered by the
media has meant a change in the way women s sports are featured. Though gender still has a major
influence over the coverage of women s hockey and a traditional heteronormative gender role is
communicated at several points of these pieces, the conversation has moved away from being an
exposition on the strangeness of women s engaging in a men s sports to becoming a celebration of
women in sports. What this encouragement does communicate however is the ability of these
women to leave behind stereotypically heteronormative feminine traits and take on the masculine

Abortion And Abortion
Abortion is a serious ethical dilemma. The practice is not a recent one, there being evidence of the
procedure dating back several millennia and neither is the controversy that comes with it, with
records of laws regulating abortion appearing in texts and manuscripts from a range of civilizations
throughout the years. There has been much debate over whether abortion is a morally sound
practice, and the divisive nature of the issue has resulted in centuries of contention. Many notable
figures and organizations have made use of numerous religious, legal, and ethical standpoints to
develop positions for and against abortion. This essay will be taking a look at abortion through the
lens of two normative ethical theories: Utilitarianismand Deontology, as understood through John
Stuart Mill s Utilitarianism and Immanuel Kants Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals
respectively. Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that claims that the best action one can perform is
the one that brings about the most pleasure, happiness or utility. Utilitarianism is extremely
consequentialist in nature, focusing solely on the results of one s actions and not on intentions or
other notions of ideas such as justice or humanity. There are two main branches of utilitarianism:
act utilitarianism and rule utilitarianism. Act utilitarianism essentially states that whether an action
is right or wrong depends on its particular consequences. Rule utilitarianism states that whether an
action is right or wrong depends in part on similar actions, and how those actions promote pleasure
/happiness. Rule utilitarianism came about as a response to criticisms of act utilitarianism, which
claimed act utilitarianism was not feasible as an ethical theory in that it would be impossible to
make decisions that actually promote the greatest utility in every instance one is required to act.
Rule utilitarians believe that instead of making an individual judgement and decision based on
anticipated utility when faced with a situation, it would be better to establish general rules to follow
that, when followed, typically reap the greatest utility. Both rule utilitarianism and act utilitarianism
would presumably have different takes on whether abortion is a

What Home Schooling Really Is
The educational thesaurus defines home schooling as provision of compulsory education in the
home as an alternative to traditional public/private schooling often motivated by parental desire to
exclude their children from the traditional school environment (ERIC [EBSCO]). Home schooling
is also defined by The Well Trained Mind website as Home schooling occurs when parents take

Old Schoolhouse Magazine states that the average home schooler s SAT scoreis 1100, 80 points
higher than the average score for the rest of the population. This kind of increase over the

doing that my child isn t doing or what is a home schooled child being taught that my child is not
being taught. The boost in academic excellence over the rest of the population may explain the
recent statistics given by the Census Bureau. The Census Bureau estimates that some 30 million
children could eventually stay home to learn. Why is it that the popularity of home schooling is
increasing at such a rapid rate? What are the key benefits of home schooling your child?
Pros and Cons of Home Schooling
Many parents see many benefits in home schooling their children. A variety of reasons are used
when parents decide to home school their children. Home School World Magazine outlines some
of the benefits of home schooling your child. These benefits include: safety benefits, less exposure
to alcohol and drugs, emotional benefits, Ritalin free kids, removes sexual pressure, builds family
bonds, better preparation for the real world and best environment for spiritual training (Online

The Elaborate Inheritance Of Chad Deity Essay
Kristoffer Diaz s play, The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity, is a play that revolves around a
character named Mace, and his career as a wrestler in The Wrestling league, as Diaz so refers to
the American Wrestling Association within the play. Bertolt Brecht, a theatre practitioner,
playwright, and poet, was a teenager during World War I in Nazi Germany. He was disgusted by
the world around him, as he witnessed many of his friends sent off to die in the war. Because of
Brecht s opinions on the world around him, he negatively viewed the classical form of theater,
what he called dramatic theater , and created a new idea of theater known as epic theater . I believe

The most significant result of overinvolvement of a single character is failing to see the larger
injustices that put the character into their situation to begin with. In the play by Kristoffer Diaz,
the main injustice that is being focused on is on the inequality based on racial demographics,
specifically within the category of people of color . Mace is from Mexico, and is racially
profiled as such in both his character on set and within the play itself as his wrestling character.
He and VP, an Indian character, represent two minority groups who are oppressed within
America. The wrestling presented is representative of the United States and the degradation of
people of color especially immigrants. At the end of the play, Mace opposes his boss in outrage
for the greater population of people of color who are unable to win their battles, as he is to never

Allusions In The Bible
In today s world it is difficult to read any piece of literature that has not been at least minorly
impacted by a piece of literature that has come before it. In fact, many stories published today
incorporate elements of past works or reference them directly in a literary device known as
allusion. One of the most commonly alluded to literary works is the Christian Bible, one of the
oldest books to be published in the common era. Because the Bible is often alluded to in other
literary works, it has been analyzed by countless scholars in many different ways. The most
important way, that is, the way in which Norman W. Jones analyzes the Bible is in a literary
manner. Because of this, this review will focus on Jones s literary connections and the... Show more

He asserts that the Bible is a literary work that is meant to be interacted with in a different way
than most other books, and that that is what leads to the Bible having so many different ways of
being interpreted and understood in various works. He uses many examples of Shakespeare to
display his ideas about reception, explaining the historical differences and why biblical allusions
and interpretations in Shakespeare s time, and the time of John Milton and his classic Paradise
Lost, would have been received differently from how they are received now. He is constantly
reminding the reader of the differences between the past and the present in order to show how
reception may have been different. His assertion that the Bible is so ingrained in our culture and
that we do not notice allusions because of this was one that made the lack of biblical literacy
understandable. The idea of the Messiah coming to die on the cross and sacrificing himself for
all of humanity is one that many people are brought up with in the present day. Because of this,
the idea of a character sacrificing themself for the greater good or to protect their friends is not a
novel idea to us in the present. In fact, it may even be considered an overused trope or plot
device. It is almost cliched and not original in any way. We are so desensitized to this basic Bible
inspired plot that we do not even realize that that is where it has come from. While I did agree
with Jones s argument about this, I also felt that when a book uses the trope in the right way, like
in Harry Potter where Harry sacrifices himself not just for his friends, but for the safety of the
entire wizarding world and muggle world s combined, the biblical allusion becomes abundantly

When these cells become neoplastic they begin to grow into the layers of the colon and beyond
as well. This event facilitates contact with capillaries and lymph vessels and cancer cells can
then break off and migrate through the entire body (McCartney Oberleitner, 2011). The risk of
cancer increases with age, and colon cancer is included in this factor with 62 being the most
common age at diagnosis (McCartney Oberleitner, 2011). Repeated exposure to carcinogens over
time can cause mutations in DNA, especially in highly mitotic epithelial cells, resulting in
cancerous growths. An immune response in a young and healthy body would destroy the early
formation of cancer cells. Unfortunately, individuals of advanced age suffer a decrease in the
capabilities of the immune system. This puts them at a higher risk of dysplastic cells multiplying
in the colon. Genetics may induce the coding of certain genes within cells to undergo spontaneous
mutations. (Labianca, Nordlinger, Beretta, Brouquet, Cervantes, 2010). This factor produces the
cluster of colon cancers seen in families. The risk of an individual getting cancer of the colon
increases when immediate family members have received a diagnosis in the past. The rate of
occurrence decreases when isolated extended family members develop the disease. However, if
several people in one family group such as cousins, aunts and grandparents are diagnosed, the risk

Friday Night Lights Should Be Banned In Public Schools
The story Friday Night Lights takes place in a small town called Odessa, Texas in the year of 1988.
After every year of football they hang a picture of each player who made All State. This reminds
the rest of them what glory looks like. Friday Night Lights gives a perspective of how every small
town high schools are and is very popular for it, however it should be banned in our public schools
because it contains profanity, racism terms, and sexually situations; the results of reading this book
can cause more teenagers or even children to use offensive language, cause more racism than there
already is, and be sexual at a young age. Despite that students now use profanity in their public
schools and even more out of school, this could cause more children and teens to use the offensive
language around their peers.
As Jerrod McDougal states in the book, I ve got no idea what I want to do. I ve got no idea what
school I want to go to. My SAT won t be worth shit. And no football schools want me, (Bissinger
308). When McDougal says this, it represented the confusion of about 90 other football players.
After every year Permian football is over; two teenage boys have the opportunity to have a shot
for college football. However, the others just have the memories to look back on. Accordingly to
TIME it states, The researchers found that on an average teen novels contain 38 instances of
profanity, which translates to nearly seven curse words per hour of reading, (Sifferlin).

A Separate Peace Essay
As Carl Jung once stated, Man s task is to become conscious of the contents that press upward from
the unconscious . To reach a peaceful reconciliation, one must learn to embrace two distinct
elements of their personality, the Persona and Shadow. Likewise, in the bildungsroman, A Separate
Peace, author John Knowles depicts the common rivalry between young adolescents, and how they
struggle to accept their identity and the relationship between their unconscious self. Gene, a Devon
High student, becomes best friends with Finny and grows jealous of his ostensibly flawless friend,
causing him to make a life changing decision. His struggles to reach an inner balance between his
Persona and Shadow lead to the ultimate death of Finny. Gene s transformation involves the
changes of his mask and Shadow from guilt and jealousyto pride and tolerance which results in the
later acceptance of the light and dark parts of himself, allowing him to truly reach adulthood and a
state of peace.
Essentially, Gene s conflict begins as he develops feelings of envy towards Finny s outgoing
personality and appealing charisma, which causes him to hide behind a persona in the one sided
rivalry he has with Finny. When Gene flunks a test for the first time, he finds an excuse to justify
his failure, concluding that Finny purposely interrupted his studies by inviting him to the beach.
Gene reasons, Sure, he wanted to share everything with me, especially his procession of D s in

disagreed and wanted something to change. Stories are told from these fights and are created
into books, which create inspiration. In certain situations, breaking laws can create disastrous
mayhem as in Romeo and Juliet, but rebellion can sometimes be beneficial such as Atticus Finch

Challenges Facing Urban Sprawl And Inner City Poverty
voice of the people and leaves staff and administration struggling to find suitable solutions in a fixed
budget.
Public choice theory supports the theory that fragmented municipal structures generate savings
because they allow individuals to make their own choices about services and taxes (L.G.C, pg.
155). This can lead to greater issues of urban sprawl and inner city poverty as the larger municipality
becomes more fragmented.
Key Purpose: Equity
When examining equity and equality in a fragmented municipal structure, serious concerns can be
raised in regards to inequalities to income, economic opportunity and quality of life (L.G.C, pg.
161). It is sadly ironic that suburb residents avoid the social costs of the inner city, but yet, the inner
city residents are subsidizing the expensive projects in the suburbs like infrastructure and water
/sewer lines (L.G.C, pg. 161).
Solutions for equity issues can be successfully addressed in other ways than restructuring. Issues
such as spillover overs and externalities are often amplified when urban and rural municipalities
with varying service standards are brought together. Vojinovic emphasizes that if the different levels
of services among merging municipalities is not recognized and built into the tax structure,
externalities can result in residents businesses can be paying for services that do not benefit them
(L.G.C, pg. 163).
Conflict
A disadvantage to amalgamation is inter municipal disagreements and turf wars

National and Global Citizenship
Even if human societies, with their cultural traditions and societal aspects, vary around the world,
human beings are all connected, socially and biologically. All human beings share the same
common ancestor, and the same anatomical and physiological features, as stated in biology, and
anthropology reports. They also share distinguishing characteristics (basic emotions, self
consciousness, language and symbols), and common needs the need for communication, love,
social interactions, food, and shelter. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights , All

Since I moved from Italy to the U.S. I made many cultural mistakes, took cultures for granted,
assigned stereotypes to people, misinterpreted conversations, and situations. I can still remember
the time when I smiled and hugged my Japanese friend to sooth away her aches. We were at the
park with our kids, and she was hit, right in the face, by my three years old son s soccer ball. My
friend s reaction to my gentle hug was quite surprising. Instead of hugging me back, she strongly
pushed me away, and told me to stop threatening her. After that episode we didn t speak to each
other for weeks. We were both really upset and confused. What went wrong between us? At that
time, I didn t know that Japanese people are reserved, shy, tend to control their feelings, and smile
when they are angry. On the other hand, my friend didn t know that Italians are extremely
expressive when it comes to their emotions, and consider smiling and hugging positive
manifestations of feelings. When I smiled and hugged my friend I made such a preventable
mistake! I should have ask her if she needed a hug, before hugging her. I should have been more
aware of her feelings, and less about mine. I should have known better. At that time my CQ was
probably nonexistent! Cultural intelligence, or CQ, is a person s ability to recognize and

Since the 1990s, tensions between Japan and China have been on the rise on the topic of the
Senkaku, or Diaoyu islands in the East China Sea. The eight uninhabited islets, which are
believed to be near rich oil and natural gas deposits, have been administered by Japan but
historically claimed by China. China, asserting that its Ming Dynasty, which was from the years

policy since 1972 that the 1960 U.S. Japan Security Treaty covers the islets, because Article 5 of
the treaty stipulates that the United States is bound to protect the territories under the
Administration of Japan and Japan administers the Senkakus/Diaoyu Islands (Manyin 2013). Due
to this treaty, the United States must provide security for Japan in return for the right to station
U.S. troops on Japanese territory. While the original stance of the U.S. was to take no stance on
sovereignty despite its obligations to defend Japan, its stance has recently shifted to pro Japan.
Backing Japan s increased militarization, U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is now beginning
to discuss with Japan ways to update their security pact, may help assuage concern in Tokyo that
Washington will favor China as its economic power grows (Kelly 2014). As a response to the
territorial security issue between China and Japan, the U.S. chose to side with Japan. A liberal
thinker would argue that U.S. support for Japan is founded in the desire for cooperation. Rather
than the realist argument of international interactions being what is called a Prisoners Dilemma,
which inevitably produces a suboptimal outcome due to lack of trust, the Stag Hunt approach is

Explain The Ideals Of The Declaration Of Independence
Ideals of the Declaration of Independence In order to understand the Declaration of Independence, it
is necessary to review the actions that took place before the Revolutionary War. Before the
Declaration of Independence, the British levied taxes in order to pay the debt piled from the French
and Indian War. The colonist who were paying those taxes believed it was unfair to tax without
representation. The colonists argued and stated conditions which were then written in an official
document. The aspects of equality, right to revolt or abolish, consent of the governed, right to life,
liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, were reviewed with great thought. However, there are some
ideals written in the Declaration of Independence that are more valuable than others. Therefore, the
most important ideal written in the document is the right to revolt or abolish. After the
Revolutionary war, many countries were influenced by the Declaration of Independence. During the
year of 1989, protesters and students from a Chinese university crowded Tiananmen Square in
Beijing. The group protested against the corruption of government and demanded a change to
democracy. Unfortunately, the group was suppressed and the protest ended in tragedy, about 3,000

Lord Hrothgar of Denmark, a relative of the colossal ruler Shield Sheafson, appreciates a
prosperous and fruitful rule. He assembles an awesome mead corridor, called Heorot, where his
warriors can accumulate to drink, get endowments from their master, and tune in to stories sung by
the scops, or troubadours. Be that as it may, the happy clamor from Heorotrankles Grendel, a
loathsome evil presence who lives in the swamplands of Hrothgar s kingdom. Grendel threatens the
Danes consistently, slaughtering them and vanquishing their endeavors to battle back. The Danes
endure numerous times of dread, risk, and passing on account of Grendel. In the long run, be that as
it may, a youthful Geatish warrior named Beowulfknows about Hrothgar s situation. Roused by the
test, Beowulf sails to Denmark with a little organization of men, resolved to crush Grendel.
Hrothgar, who had once done an awesome support for Beowulf s dad Ecgtheow, acknowledges
Beowulf s offer to battle Grendel and holds a devour in the saint s respect. Amid the devour, a

The Category of Factor X
Malcolm X, an African American Muslim minster and human rights activist, once said We
declare our right on this earth to be a human being, to be respected as a human being, to be given
the rights of a human being in this society, on this earth, in this day, which we intend to bring
into existence by any means necessary. According to Malcolm X, everyone on the earth has a
right to be called a human being and fit into the category of a human being; no matter if they are
young, old, disabled or incompetent. Yet if we were to look back on our past and cannot seem to

On the other hand Factor X is saying that if we were to get rid of these secondary factorials, we
would be equal, however would it worth being equal by eliminating what makes us special. As we
begin to understand that Factor X is not perfect, we find that there will always be one group of
people that factor X seems to not include, which leads to the thinking are they not human beings
that have their own human rights. More importantly we then have to figure what is considered
basic human rights and how do we considered who gets them or at least who deserves their rights
more in certain situations. Figure 1. A simplify list of human rights created and accepted as an
international issue after the Second World War And for that simple reason are we going to say
people who are disabled, terminally ill or an unborn fetus does not have the right to be included
in to factor X or the potential to have human rights. The question then becomes how are we going
to amend Factor X to include this group of people without excluding another group by
accidentally using their political/social rights or characteristics in society to say that they are not
competent enough to posses Factor X. Skin color, looks , social class and wealth, gender, cultural

The Nazi Party s Inner Circle Essay
How can ordinary people come to commit atrocities against defenceless victims? Hitler was an
evil man, or at least was prepared to employ evil actions to achieve his goals. There is very little
in literature to suggest anything contrary to this opinion. Most literature suggests that while
Hitler had some level of power over Himmler and the rest of the Nazi Party s inner circle, they
were also well aware of the extent and implications of their actions. Despite this, the atrocities of
the Holocaust were not carried out by these evil leaders, but instead were the actions of
thousands of ordinary people across Europe. In discussing how these people can be motivated to
commit atrocities, I will focus on Christopher Browning s analysis of Holocaust police battalions,
along with contradictory evidence. I will also compare the motivations of Hutu civilians in the
mid 1990s, and how their experience supports and undermines Browning s theory. Browning is
seen as a pioneer of Holocaust Studies, and his literature has drawn great respect and acceptance
from the academic world (USHRI 1996). As such, I will take Browning s theory as my hypothetical
explanation of how ordinary people come to commit atrocities against defenceless victims.
Browning believes that indoctrination , along with the pressing circumstances of a dehumanising
war , pushed ordinary men to commit atrocities of which they normally they would have considered
themselves incapable (Browning 1992). Browning s

Andre The Last Of The Great Humanist Architects
In the past, many men in the field of architecture have become famous for their works, especially in
the time of the Renaissance in Italy. These men included Filippo Brunelleschi, Leon Battista
Alberti, and, perhaps the most important of all, Andrea Palladio. Widely regarded as the most
influential and famous architect in the Western world, Andrea Palladiowas the last of the great
Humanist architects (Trachtenburg, 2002, p. 311). Since it is impossible to encompass all of
Palladio s accomplishments in one single essay, this paper will aim to give a detailed overview of
Andrea s early life, influences, greatest works, and his Palladian following.

Trissino became Palladio s mentor and patron. Seeing Palladio as a man with great spirit and
exceptional aptitude for science and mathematics, Trissino also encouraged Palladio to study
humanist values, such as the arts, music, and philosophy. In fact, at this time, music was the
principal art (Tavernor, 1991, p. 20). It was also at this time that Trissino began to introduce
Palladio to the works and teachings of Vitruvius, a Roman architect, writer, and civil engineer of the
1st Century B.C.E. Vitruvius had urged that art should reflect nature, For Nature leads to Beauty,
which is fundamental to the practice of architecture, once Utility and Strength have been achieved
in a building (Tavernor, 1991, p. 12)
Palladio s studies of Vitruvius began in the Villa Trissino at the large estate of Cricoli. As is
implied by the name, this building was designed and owned by Trissino to be a sort of get away
from the public world. Cricoli was a vast country retreat, which made it ideal for study and
reflection. What s more interesting about the building is that it has actually been cited as Palladio
s first building, but this could not be the case. According to Bruce Boucher in his book Andrea
Palladio: The Architect in His Time, If Trissino had employed the Pedemuro workshop to execute
his design, then Andrea would have participated as a junior member of the firm. This means that
although Palladio may have worked on the building, he did not have a hand

Karen Rowe Fairy Tales Analysis
In the article, Feminism and Fairy Tales, Karen Rowe focuses on the impact that fairy tales have
on relationships and expectations for women today. One may wonder why it is love that is so
prominent in fairy tales, rather than something else. However, Rowe provides the answer in her
writing by saying, ...marriage is an estate long sanctioned by culture and theoretically attainable by
all women (356). Rowe suggests that many women dream of some day meeting their own Prince
Charming and essentially writing their own fairy tale. Where, in order to do so, fairy tales have led
them to believe that there is such thing as a perfect love, that marriage saves a womanfrom the
harsh realities in life, and that life only truly begins with marriage. Starting at a young age,
young girls are inherently brainwashed by fairy tales. Rowe explains in her article that most all

society and our individual lives are also influenced by technology in many direct and indirect ways,

information professional today, and ongoing research is needed to assess technological directions

tools, web browsers, library catalogs, database searching tools, and printers (Maceli Burke,
2016). The problem at Adams Keegan is the amount of advanced technology that we have
compared to the amount of clients we provide services to. All of the technology features listed
are all a part of what is used on a daily basis. Not having access to certain technology during
certain times of the day can sometimes hinder what the staff is trying to accomplish. For example,
there are only a certain amount of scanners located in our department. Clients can request that
documents be scanned to them at any given moment. If a person in payroll for example is

An obvious benefit to technology in businesses is increased productivity, other benefits that can

What is love? Sure, love is defined by the dictionary as, An intense feeling of deep affection , but
is that all there is to such a complex emotion? Love is not only a romantic emotion for someone, but
also an action in which two people are willing to sacrifice everything to be together, even if it means
ending other meaningful relationships in their lives. In the tragicomedy Much Ado About Nothing
by William Shakespeare, this is a major theme that affects many of the characters. An example of
this is the relationship between the characters Benedick and Beatrice. Throughout the story, they

The Central Bank has just advised of that they will be floating a new 20 year bond (GOTT 2031

Suggestion
The Bank s investment portfolio as at December 31, 2010 includes a 20 year gov t fixed rate

March 09, 2011 the bond had a coupon rate of 6.60% and a market price of $106.92, therefore the
market value of the portfolio would have been improved. Based on a comparison of the

The Age Of Jackson s Political History
The Age of Jackson
On particular, The Age of Jackson changed America s political history because Jackson established
new precedents with the government s relations with Indians, the issue of state and federal rights
and also established a political rivalry. The Age of Jackson occurred during the time period from
1829 to 1837. During this time period, the United Stated of America was under the presidential term
of Andrew Jackson. Ever since Andrew Jackson s election, there was a complete transformation in
the political history of the United States. Before Andrew Jackson, who in which was the 7th
president of the United States, there had only been presidents that did nothing but follow imposes of
George Washington. The presidents were John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James
Monroe and John Quincy Adams. These presidents did not involve themselves with wars that
occurred in Europe, they had no political parties, and they did nothing about the relations with the
Indians. They also kept the Bank of America that President George Washington created. In the other
hand Jackson is known for the Trail of Tears, he ended, the Bank of America and initiated a two
party political system.
To initiate, one of the reasons that Jackson marked a new age in American political history is the

The Marketing Mix Of Starbucks
II)Marketing Mix
The marketing mix is the set of tactical marketing tools that the firm blends to produce the response

its products (Kotler et al., 2013, p.53). Its main characteristics can be categorised into a 4Ps
framework.
a)Product
Starbucks was initially known as a premium coffee chain for high standard coffee lovers.
However, throughout the years and the fierce competition, Starbucks has expanded its product
portfolio to match new customer needs. They introduced the brands Tazo Tea and Fizzio
offering caffeine free handcrafted sodas (Mintel, 2014). They also launched innovative
beverages like the Frappuccino, and created an extensive food menu. In fact, a study has shown

Role Of Ascent Of Imperialism In India
The ascent of Imperialism in India started when the East India Company picked up control of India
after the decay of the Mughal Empire. East India Company was a business entity that was built up
when Britain demonstrated financial enthusiasm for India s potential assets. At first, the East India
Company made exchanging posts in Surat, Madras, Bombay, and Calcutta basically to build
exchange. The East India Companyexchanged cotton, silk, tea, and opium. These East India
Company exchanging posts were upheld by British troops and private armed forces, otherwise

Racial Differences
Introduction
Race is described as genetic differences due to phenotypic characteristics such as specific physical
features (Sheets, 1999). Not only do individuals of different race have specific identifiable features
but also internal growth mechanisms vary. This paper will explore several areas in which racial
differences influence growth and development. Growth differences between races are of
importance since individuals are often compared to norms. However, it is evident that everyone has
unique characteristics, and these characteristics can be attributed to race.

Femoral length was also greater in African American children compared to Whites. This
characteristic attributed to a shorter sitting height but rather, a greater leg length to sitting height
ratio (Gilsanz, 1998). Overall, the African American children accounted for a 10.7% and 5.7%
increase in vertebral bone density and femoral cross sectional area, respectively, in relation to their
White counterparts (Gilsanz, 1998). The reason behind the bone mineral content and bone mass
being advanced in African Americans is that they are better able to resist bone resporption by
parathyroid hormone (Gilsanz, 1998). Another theory is that greater muscle mass puts stress on
which in turn develops greater bone mineral content and density (Wagner and Heyward, 2000). By
having these mechanisms to better strengthen bone, there is evidence to prove that, in general, as
African Americans age their bones will be less problematic for them whereas the Whites will tend
to have more problems.
As expected, greater bone mineral content as well as areal bone mineral density was identified in
African American children and adults relative to Whites (Kalkwarf et al., 2012). However,
Kalkwarf et al. (2012) identified that the forearm and lumbar spine were particular areas of the
skeletal system that were observed to be prominent as having greater bone mineral

History and Understanding the Past
THE HISTORIAN S TASK IS TO UNDERSTAND THE PAST; THE HUMAN SCIENTIST, BY
CONTRAST, IS LOOKING TO CHANGE THE FUTURE.
TO WHAT EXTENT IS THIS TRUE IN THESE AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE?
The historian s task of developing an understanding of the past involves the study of the human past
as described in the written documents and objects left by human beings related to a particular point
or period in time. However, there is always the problem of authenticity of evidence and the
interpretation of events that may or may not be accurate or relevant. Over time more and different
evidence often appears and must be evaluated and compared to existing sources and their
interpretation. Human science puts human experience in context and its aim is to explain human
behavior by creating theories to predict it and then solve problems identified by those predictions
considering them in terms of human self knowledge that allows us to understand ourselves as
people. It is very important for us as people to know ourselves: where knowing who we are and
where we stand means knowing the things that distinguish us from other people, by knowing our
true nature as humans.
The value of history is that it teaches us what man has done is. We consider history as a journal of
our memories stating that those who don t study the past are condemned to repeat it . Basically, it
gives us a frame of events to consider the possible outcomes of present and future actions. It helps
us understand past triumphs and

Electoral Americ The Purpose Of The Electoral College
Electoral College
The Electoral College was a compromise in order to pick a president between the Congress s
vote and the citizens vote. The selection of Electors would meet and vote for the president and
vice president, they would also count the electoral votes by Congress. There are 538 electors,
but a majority of 270 electoral votes is required to elect a vice president or a vice president. The
amount of electors equals the amount of members of the House of Representative that states have
plus two more for the Senator. Each candidate running for president has a group of electors in each
state. The candidates electors are chosen by the candidates political party but, different laws in
different states change how the electors are selected. When voting for a President we are actually
voting for our state candidates election. After the presidential election, the governor of their state
writes a Certificate of Ascertainment which list the candidates for that state as well as their
electors. The Certificate of Ascertainment also shows which electors will represent the state at the
election meeting as well as the winning presidential candidate. The meeting of the electors is held
on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December after the presidential election. In
their respective states, the electors cast their votes for both the Vice President and President on
separate ballots. The voters votes are then recorded and sent to Congress on the Certificates of
Votes.

Nike Of Samothrace Essay

Spring 2015
The Nike of Samothrace stands at eight feet and is made of Parian marble. She is assembled
from several pieces of the stone and it is believed that she was painted, however there are no
traces of paint on her. She is a very powerful, sensual, and energetic figure and her impact on her
viewers is the result of the sculptors combination of naturalism and ability to create a sense of
drama from her presence. She is presenting herself with her right leg forward, her wings uplifted
and spread behind her as if she is about to take off, and her torso is lifted displaying balance. Her
bold lines and the invisible force of the wind blowing towards her enhance her impression of being
in motion, creating an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ship is carved from a blue grey type of Rhodian marble and stands 10 6ВЅ tall. When found,
the ship was in several pieces which have been plastered together to recreate the whole sculpture
for display purposes. On it are very small traces of paint which indicate the base of the sculpture
along with the goddess Nike were most likely at one point painted, however the paint traces are
unintelligible. The form of the ship includes heavy shapes with very hard lines that also have a
very sensual feel to them. The ship itself is very realistically represented with its shape and its
apex, along with its many attachments including an oar box, doubled rows of oar slots, and a
battering ram that extends outward and upward off the front of the prow. Using the warship as the
base of the Nike aids in portraying her sense of motion. The naturalism and the drama of The Nike
of Samothrace and her warship are intensified further by the physical setting of the pair. The ship
was originally placed on top of 6 tiles of rippled marble which most likely represented seascape
and movement. Evidence implies that the sculpture as a whole may have been used as a part of a
fountain which would also enhance the realistic effect of movement, presence, and drama
surrounding The Nike of

The Good The Bad And The Ugly Essay
The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly is the most famous of all of Sergio Leone s films, and
probably one of the most famous Westerns of all times. Not only it became part of our culture, but
it has also created a sub genre of Westerns, called Spaghetti Westerns , mainly because of the Italian
origins of the filmmaker and the fact that his movies were shot in Europe instead of Hollywood.
Despite the characteristic Westerntradition found in the movie, Sergio Leonecreates a genre free
from any stereotypical clichГ©s that Westerns encompass. This paper will explore the ways in
which Spaghetti Westerns deviate from the original genre, highlighting their extreme adept artistry.

Their actions are in fact motivated by revenge and justice, yet in a distorted and caricatured manner.
The characters don t mainly act in accordance with good and evil, but with greed. Individualism and
egoism are therefore prominent in the protagonists personality. However, despite all the killing and
betrayals, they illustrate a level of humanity and compassion that makes them more complex. They
seem to be cartoon like in absurdity, but their actions demonstrate the darker side of humanity they
possess. In fact, the contradiction between action and emotion is quite distinguished: the immoral
act versus the refinement of human compassion. For example, in the closing scene, Blondie leaves
Tuco rich but trapped, but then shoots him down from the tree in the graveyard. We also see a
sense of compassion in Lee Van Cleefs action when he lets the soldier keep the rest of the alcohol
he bribed him with. In fact, these considerate moments, paralleled with the absurdity of their actions
are paradoxical as they reveal a human side to the unjustified actions. In addition to that, these
characters show a juxtaposed existence between the natural wilderness and the colonization of the
Western setting, emphasizing the idea of Man versus Nature. In fact, Spaghetti Westerns encompass
much more action and violence than original Hollywood Westerns. In the beginning of the movie,
Blondie captures Tuco and turns him in to the sheriff for the reward money. Tuco receives a
suspended sentence, whereby he is sentenced to hang, and as the sheriff begins to carry out the
punishment, Blondie shoots the whip from the sheriff s hands, shoots the rope that s tied around
Tuco s head, and then proceeds to shoot the hats off the spectators. He then rides off to a hidden
place in the desert to meet Tuco and split the

Essay about Theme of Comedic Showmanship in Aristophanes ...
Aristophanes was born presumably around 449 B.C. and died somewhere around 386 to 380 B.C.
He wrote and producing his first comedy, The Banqueters, in 428 at the showpiece festival in the
City of Dionysia. The following year Aristophanes won first prize with his play The Babylonians.
This production however caused charges to be brought upon him by the politician Cleon for
smearing the Athenian people and state. In all, Aristophaneswas brought on charges twice, the
second time for his play The Knights in which he again attacked the politician Cleon. In 405
Aristophanes was however publicly honored and crowned for promoting Athenian unity in his play
The Frogs. Throughout his life Aristophanes wrote forty plays, eleven surviving to this... Show

In his defense, Dikaipolis blames not Athens for the war, but its pompous leaders and lying
politicians, It was some Athenians who started it some Athenians, mind you, not Athens, remember
that, not the City, but a bunch of good for nothing individuals, worthless counterfeit foreigners, bad
coin through and through (The Acharnians, line 515 519). Lamachus, a general of the army, is
brought into the play and mocked by Dikaipolis for collecting coin from the war, and only going
on paid missions. Nothing s tolerable to you, unless you re drawing pay for it (The Acharnians,
line 619). Dikaipolis also names off other notable elected officials who receive money from
various aspects of the war. Lamachus then proclaims that I shall never stop making war on the
Peloponnesians (The Acharnians, line 620 621). Dikaipolis mocks Lamachus once more by
opening a market of free trade, except with Lamachus who is denied entry. Aristophanes, who
closely resembles the character of Dikaipolis, rumored to have actually played the character, is
pointing out the flaws that lay within Athenian society. The City itself may have not started the
war, but the great politicians and generals did so out of their own greed. Freedom of speech,
denied to Dikaipolis in the beginning of the play by the Assembly represents the denied feeling of
the masses towards the war, which are drowned out by the war party of Cleon and corrupt officials.
The play ends with a side by side duet

From Terrorism to Global Warming In the Article How globalization Went Bad by Steven Weber et

With only one superpower more nations will seek nuclear arms because they are without a
superpower ally. With multiple superpowers smaller countries will have no need for nuclear
capability because they are protected by a larger superpower. Every country having their own
nuclear weapon will no longer be a necessity. In a multi superpower world, great powers will
split the responsibility of monitoring nuclear growth around the world, and be able to team up
when trouble arises. Weber believes that this theory can be applied in other areas as well. Global
public health will be significantly improved with a multi super power world. Poor countries where
humans live in close proximity to farm animals are the best place to breed extremely dangerous
zoonotic disease. These are often the same countries that feel threatened by American power. With a
more health conscious global leaders, intervention in these countries will be made easier. Weber s
second solution is Restoring the Balance. Weber explains that the United States continues
dissuading potential competitors from challenging the United States, its allies and partners. In other
words More American power is always better. George Kennan brought this problem to the world s
attention in the 1940 s, when he suggested a European country rise to restrain the

Hamlet Madness In Hamlet
When reading Shakespeare s Hamlet as a class, the first thing that most teachers or professors
point out is the argument/idea of sanity, specifically Hamlet s sanity. I believe that Hamlet is, in
fact, feigning his madness. What I do not know is if I believe this because it is what I was taught
or if I came up with the idea myself based on my own interpretation. When I was taught Hamlet
there was no argumentit was just fact that he was faking his madness. Because of my confusion, I
came to find that it may be interesting take out of the playany moment in which Hamlet makes the
audience aware that he is only pretending that to be mad. I want to take out any proof that his
madness isn t real. The argument for legitimate madness is always... Show more content on

In choosing to believe the ghost, he decides that he must seek revenge on his father s murderer
and will allow nothing to get in his way. From this moment on, Hamlet heads in a downward
spiral and we can track him losing his mind if we just erase the lines that express his plan to act
like his is doing so. These cuts begin from the moment when Hamlet says that he is going To put
an antic disposition on (Act I Scene V). Taking out this one line could change the play entirely.
Most of the lines in which he speaks of this part of his revenge plot following his original
declaration of it are moments in which he is attempting to explain that he isn t actually insane.
By removing this one, small line we effectively make it easier to argue that his madness isn t a
part of his plot but it is an actual part of him. Without having concrete proof before the madness
starts that it is, in fact, planned how are we as an audience supposed to trust him? Removing this
line makes it so that the readers, and the other characters, are entirely unaware of this part of his
plan. He acts mad for a while before he mentions again that this is his plan. The next time Hamlet
discloses the part of his revenge plan is when he is speaking to Guildenstern in Act II Scene II, and
tells him that his uncle father and aunt mother are deceived and then clarifies

Causes And Treatment Of Infective Endocarditis
Before discussing Infective Endocarditis, it s imperative to understand where the endocardium is
along with its function because endocarditis affects this area of the heart. The Endocardium is the
innermost layer of heart tissue that lines the cavities and valves of the heart and is composed of
loose epithelial and connective tissue. The endocardium regulates contractions of the heart and
helps regulate the composition of the bloodthat feeds the tissues of the heart (Kenney, 2015).
Infective Endocarditis, IE, is an infection of the endocardium that generally occurs when bacteria or
germs from another part of the body, such as the mouth, spread through the bloodstream and attach
to damaged areas in the heart (Endocarditis Definition, 2015). Individuals that have an increased
risk of developing Endocarditis include:
Those with Pacemakers or Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD)
Individuals with existing conditions of the heart valves
HIV (What Increases Your Risk of Endocarditis?, 2015).
Diabetes Mellitus and long term hemodialysis (Infective endocarditis in adults, 2001).
According to the American Heart Association, endocarditis affects twice as many men as women
and eight times as many older men as older woman. More than a quarter of all cases occur in
individuals that are older than 60 years of age (Heart Valves and Infective Endocarditis, 2014). In
the United States alone, national data indicated that in 2009 there were up to 28,000 hospital

Essay On Women In Beowulf
In a few literature classics of the Anglo Saxon period, the absence of the female figure in this
society is very noticeable. On various pieces, it is obvious that the portrayal of how a woman was
nothing without her lord or husband, and how women merely depended on a male figure to be part
of the society or even accept it. Throughout the years, society has been changing for women to what
it is today. A womantoday does not need a man to be recognized as successful, strong and
independent in society. In Beowulf there is evidence of six women in the entire story while, if
we count the male figures we can easily figure out the prominence of a patriarchal system.
Starting with Grendel s mother, seeking for revenge on her son s death, gives an example of a
motherly figure fighting for her youngster. Another example relating to the argument are
Wealhtheow and Hygd. Wealhtheow and Hygd are both described as this perfectly lady like of

Unless, of course, changing the past is very dangerous. Some people believe different things and
different ways on how this universe and world work. They believe they can hold the future in

the way things happen. Things happen the way they are supposed to because it would benefit

Automatic System In The Odyssey
There are two sides from where a person can analyze a certain situation. The right of one person
might be wrong for another. Moreover there the biases can be found in our routine works. Though

things. Automatic System is based over institution, and Reflective System is based over rationality.
The automatic system comes in to use without premeditation. It is automatic and is the reaction of
a certain situation.
There are many people in the world that usually do not know what they are speaking; this might be
intentional or owing to the natural disposition of speaking without analyzing the situation. Mr.
Spock of Star Trek fame is having its reflective system in control. He knows how and what to

  • 2. Brush Rifle Essay This week s article covered the accuracy of hunting rifles and the various methods to obtain the desired outcomes within a realistic outlook. Unfortunately, we live in a time where 1 Minute of Angle AR 15 s are commonplace and we tend to overlook the fundamentals of accurate shooting and place our full and blind trust into our platforms opposed to our skillsets. At this moment I will cover further into accuracy of both benchrest/target and a solid performing brush rifleand further on the differences associated with both. On average for a decent brush rifle has the killzone for most medium game is equivalent to the interior diameter of a disposable white paper plate at 100 yards, in some regions(Heavily ladened in brush). So for huntingpurposes on average a rifle that shoots a 2 ВЅ 4 inch groups at 100 yards would be acceptable for this application. There is nothing wrong with a rifle(Lever Action or Pump Action)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I find this not only insulting, but highly unlikely. I personally didn t buy a Mosin Nagant or a Ruger American Ranch Rifle chambered in .300 AAC Blackout, with having the expectation of sub MOA groups out of each of the rifles. I purchased these rifles based off the versatility of caliber or the sheer historical nostalgia that came with it. Every Rifle/Pistol is a tool that has a specific application intended for it s use, I wouldn t try to cut threads with a milling bit. We as both a firearm enthuisiast/shooting community need to be a little more realistic with our expectations and fully understand what to expect at out of our chosen platforms. Even if we do fail to understand, we need to look inwards on our own individual experience and be overly critical of ourselves. At the end of the day, the shooter does have the heaviest influence on the overall outcome of our rifles/pistol s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Public Opinion Of The War To what extent is public opinion of the war in Afghanistan influenced by the nature of the war? After the September 2001 terrorist attacks against the world trade centre in the USA, the British public revealed growing support for joining America in its mission aimed to capture the ringleader of international terrorism, Osama Bin Laden, and ending the rule of the Talibangovernment of Afghanistan. In 2001, approximately 65% of the British public supported sending troops to Afghanistan. In the ten years after the conflict began, public support for this military intervention has declined significantly. The Afghan war has triggered the British Election Study to devote a section of the study to public opinion of the Afghan war, regularly asking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, most scholars who research support for military intervention focus their research around a cost benefit analysis, for example Gelpi ad lib (2009), Larson (1996) and Clarke (2009). Therefore casualty count only further decreases already swiftly falling support. This research report will focus primarily on the cost benefit analysis aspect of public opinion. Alexander Moseley s theory of just war (2009) summarises conditions necessary for a nation s involvement to be just and provides a good framework to base scientific research around. Research dating back to the thirteenth century shows that public opinion declines as the war is perceived to be no longer worth fighting or just . His conditions are as follows: (Note that casualty count is omitted) 1) The cause is just 2) The warring party must have suffered some injustice at the hands of the opponent 3) It was declared by a proper authority 4) Nation s intentions are righteous 5) There is reasonable chance of success 6) The ends of the war are proportional to the means OMITTED VARIABLES 1 and 4 can be considered as whether going to war is moral US and NATO had a case Taliban was a safe haven for al Qaeda that had attacked civilian targets in 2001 and 2005. • 4. What Is The Relationship Between Of Mice And Men Of Mice and Men, is a world famous novel which was written by John Steinbeck back in 1937. The novel is mainly about George and Lennie and their life. But I am not going to write about that. I am mainly going to focus on the characters which live on the ranch in the book (Crooks, Candy, Curley and Slim). These are the characters which work on the ranch: Crooks takes care of the horses on the ranch. He has quite the history with those animals, the reason why he is called Crooks is that a horse kicked him and that left him with a crooked back. Crooks is the only black man on the ranch, therefore he lives alone in his own place in the barn with the animals. • 8. The Work Of Art And The Age Of Mechanical Reproduction According to oxforddictionaries.com the definition of the word media is, The main means of mass communication (broadcasting, publishing, and the Internet), regarded collectively. Mass communication inventions like paper, the printing press, and film changed the foundations in which society was built on. In todays society, it seems like everyday there is a new development in mediathat will change our lives . Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, are all forms of mass media, but one could dispute that they are unnecessary to the development of society. Walter Benjamin argues in, The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction, that with reproducibility of images, submission towards the film increases thus a lack in the formation of one s own opinions. Today, if asked, not many would protest the invention and rise of film, but according to Walter Benjamin, a mass media invention like film, was something society did not need. So, while new mass media transformations may seem unnecessary to the development of society, there is a chance that over a longer period of time society would not be able to fathom itself without it. Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter can be considered mediums of what is produced, the media. • 9. The Impact Of Television On The Television Industry Essay Whilst much of television s history has relied on specific industrial practices established early in the 1960s, the turn of the century has introduced significant changes to the medium of television. The current position of television, defined by Lotz as the post network era, illustrates an evolution from these early industry practices. For the most part, scholars agree that this transition was caused by changes in the industrial norms of producing, financing, and distributing television, many of which can be attributed to the arrival of digital technologies. This essay will argue that these changes throughout the television industry have created a new, distinctive era of television culture. First and foremost, Lotz provides valuable insight into the distinguishable eras of television development. The resulting three eras are defined as the network era, multi channel transition and post network era (7). The network era , which spanned roughly from the early 1950s to the mid 1980s, governed industry operations and created a television experience which characterizes much of the medium s history. This era was characterized by adapting radio network modes of content creation, distribution, advertising, and audience measurement to the context of the then new televisual medium. Dominated by a three network oligopoly network system comprised of ABC, NBC and CBS critics have often condemned the network era as bland due to its strict censorship and limited creative ... • 10. Media Representation Of Women s Sports When men engage in sports, it is seen and interpreted as an opportunity for them to exhibit dominance in the masculinity and as an expression of heterosexuality. When women have traditionally engaged in sports, it has caused commentators to question one s heterosexuality, to question their femininity, and to almost ridicule the idea of women engaging in a traditionally male dominated activity. This analysis focuses on media representations of men and women in sports, and the differences that exist in the way that these stories are covered. This exploration will feature Canadian based media coverage as it pertains to women and men engaged in hockey. This analysis shows a changing in the guard of how women s sports are being covered. The increasing feminism movement in sports with icons such as former MMA UFC fighter Ronda Rousey leading the way in combination with an increasing in feminine issues being covered by the media has meant a change in the way women s sports are featured. Though gender still has a major influence over the coverage of women s hockey and a traditional heteronormative gender role is communicated at several points of these pieces, the conversation has moved away from being an exposition on the strangeness of women s engaging in a men s sports to becoming a celebration of women in sports. What this encouragement does communicate however is the ability of these women to leave behind stereotypically heteronormative feminine traits and take on the masculine ... • 11. Abortion And Abortion Abortion is a serious ethical dilemma. The practice is not a recent one, there being evidence of the procedure dating back several millennia and neither is the controversy that comes with it, with records of laws regulating abortion appearing in texts and manuscripts from a range of civilizations throughout the years. There has been much debate over whether abortion is a morally sound practice, and the divisive nature of the issue has resulted in centuries of contention. Many notable figures and organizations have made use of numerous religious, legal, and ethical standpoints to develop positions for and against abortion. This essay will be taking a look at abortion through the lens of two normative ethical theories: Utilitarianismand Deontology, as understood through John Stuart Mill s Utilitarianism and Immanuel Kants Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals respectively. Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that claims that the best action one can perform is the one that brings about the most pleasure, happiness or utility. Utilitarianism is extremely consequentialist in nature, focusing solely on the results of one s actions and not on intentions or other notions of ideas such as justice or humanity. There are two main branches of utilitarianism: act utilitarianism and rule utilitarianism. Act utilitarianism essentially states that whether an action is right or wrong depends on its particular consequences. Rule utilitarianism states that whether an action is right or wrong depends in part on similar actions, and how those actions promote pleasure /happiness. Rule utilitarianism came about as a response to criticisms of act utilitarianism, which claimed act utilitarianism was not feasible as an ethical theory in that it would be impossible to make decisions that actually promote the greatest utility in every instance one is required to act. Rule utilitarians believe that instead of making an individual judgement and decision based on anticipated utility when faced with a situation, it would be better to establish general rules to follow that, when followed, typically reap the greatest utility. Both rule utilitarianism and act utilitarianism would presumably have different takes on whether abortion is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In fact, many stories published today incorporate elements of past works or reference them directly in a literary device known as allusion. One of the most commonly alluded to literary works is the Christian Bible, one of the oldest books to be published in the common era. Because the Bible is often alluded to in other literary works, it has been analyzed by countless scholars in many different ways. The most important way, that is, the way in which Norman W. Jones analyzes the Bible is in a literary manner. Because of this, this review will focus on Jones s literary connections and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He asserts that the Bible is a literary work that is meant to be interacted with in a different way than most other books, and that that is what leads to the Bible having so many different ways of being interpreted and understood in various works. He uses many examples of Shakespeare to display his ideas about reception, explaining the historical differences and why biblical allusions and interpretations in Shakespeare s time, and the time of John Milton and his classic Paradise Lost, would have been received differently from how they are received now. He is constantly reminding the reader of the differences between the past and the present in order to show how reception may have been different. His assertion that the Bible is so ingrained in our culture and that we do not notice allusions because of this was one that made the lack of biblical literacy understandable. The idea of the Messiah coming to die on the cross and sacrificing himself for all of humanity is one that many people are brought up with in the present day. Because of this, the idea of a character sacrificing themself for the greater good or to protect their friends is not a novel idea to us in the present. In fact, it may even be considered an overused trope or plot device. It is almost cliched and not original in any way. We are so desensitized to this basic Bible inspired plot that we do not even realize that that is where it has come from. While I did agree with Jones s argument about this, I also felt that when a book uses the trope in the right way, like in Harry Potter where Harry sacrifices himself not just for his friends, but for the safety of the entire wizarding world and muggle world s combined, the biblical allusion becomes abundantly ... This event facilitates contact with capillaries and lymph vessels and cancer cells can then break off and migrate through the entire body (McCartney Oberleitner, 2011). The risk of cancer increases with age, and colon cancer is included in this factor with 62 being the most common age at diagnosis (McCartney Oberleitner, 2011). Repeated exposure to carcinogens over time can cause mutations in DNA, especially in highly mitotic epithelial cells, resulting in cancerous growths. An immune response in a young and healthy body would destroy the early formation of cancer cells. Unfortunately, individuals of advanced age suffer a decrease in the capabilities of the immune system. This puts them at a higher risk of dysplastic cells multiplying in the colon. Genetics may induce the coding of certain genes within cells to undergo spontaneous mutations. (Labianca, Nordlinger, Beretta, Brouquet, Cervantes, 2010). This factor produces the cluster of colon cancers seen in families. The risk of an individual getting cancer of the colon increases when immediate family members have received a diagnosis in the past. Public choice theory supports the theory that fragmented municipal structures generate savings because they allow individuals to make their own choices about services and taxes (L.G.C, pg. 155). This can lead to greater issues of urban sprawl and inner city poverty as the larger municipality becomes more fragmented. Key Purpose: Equity When examining equity and equality in a fragmented municipal structure, serious concerns can be raised in regards to inequalities to income, economic opportunity and quality of life (L.G.C, pg. 161). It is sadly ironic that suburb residents avoid the social costs of the inner city, but yet, the inner city residents are subsidizing the expensive projects in the suburbs like infrastructure and water /sewer lines (L.G.C, pg. 161). Solutions for equity issues can be successfully addressed in other ways than restructuring. Issues such as spillover overs and externalities are often amplified when urban and rural municipalities with varying service standards are brought together. Vojinovic emphasizes that if the different levels of services among merging municipalities is not recognized and built into the tax structure, externalities can result in residents businesses can be paying for services that do not benefit them (L.G.C, pg. 163). Hitler was an evil man, or at least was prepared to employ evil actions to achieve his goals. There is very little in literature to suggest anything contrary to this opinion. Most literature suggests that while Hitler had some level of power over Himmler and the rest of the Nazi Party s inner circle, they were also well aware of the extent and implications of their actions. Despite this, the atrocities of the Holocaust were not carried out by these evil leaders, but instead were the actions of thousands of ordinary people across Europe. In discussing how these people can be motivated to commit atrocities, I will focus on Christopher Browning s analysis of Holocaust police battalions, along with contradictory evidence. I will also compare the motivations of Hutu civilians in the mid 1990s, and how their experience supports and undermines Browning s theory. Browning is seen as a pioneer of Holocaust Studies, and his literature has drawn great respect and acceptance from the academic world (USHRI 1996). As such, I will take Browning s theory as my hypothetical explanation of how ordinary people come to commit atrocities against defenceless victims. It was also at this time that Trissino began to introduce Palladio to the works and teachings of Vitruvius, a Roman architect, writer, and civil engineer of the 1st Century B.C.E. Vitruvius had urged that art should reflect nature, For Nature leads to Beauty, which is fundamental to the practice of architecture, once Utility and Strength have been achieved in a building (Tavernor, 1991, p. 12) Palladio s studies of Vitruvius began in the Villa Trissino at the large estate of Cricoli. Cricoli was a vast country retreat, which made it ideal for study and reflection. What s more interesting about the building is that it has actually been cited as Palladio s first building, but this could not be the case. According to Bruce Boucher in his book Andrea Palladio: The Architect in His Time, If Trissino had employed the Pedemuro workshop to execute his design, then Andrea would have participated as a junior member of the firm. One may wonder why it is love that is so prominent in fairy tales, rather than something else. However, Rowe provides the answer in her writing by saying, ...marriage is an estate long sanctioned by culture and theoretically attainable by all women (356). Rowe suggests that many women dream of some day meeting their own Prince Charming and essentially writing their own fairy tale. Where, in order to do so, fairy tales have led them to believe that there is such thing as a perfect love, that marriage saves a womanfrom the harsh realities in life, and that life only truly begins with marriage. Love is not only a romantic emotion for someone, but also an action in which two people are willing to sacrifice everything to be together, even if it means ending other meaningful relationships in their lives. In the tragicomedy Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare, this is a major theme that affects many of the characters. Overall, the African American children accounted for a 10.7% and 5.7% increase in vertebral bone density and femoral cross sectional area, respectively, in relation to their White counterparts (Gilsanz, 1998). The reason behind the bone mineral content and bone mass being advanced in African Americans is that they are better able to resist bone resporption by parathyroid hormone (Gilsanz, 1998). Another theory is that greater muscle mass puts stress on which in turn develops greater bone mineral content and density (Wagner and Heyward, 2000). By having these mechanisms to better strengthen bone, there is evidence to prove that, in general, as African Americans age their bones will be less problematic for them whereas the Whites will tend to have more problems. The historian s task of developing an understanding of the past involves the study of the human past as described in the written documents and objects left by human beings related to a particular point or period in time. These cuts begin from the moment when Hamlet says that he is going To put an antic disposition on (Act I Scene V). Taking out this one line could change the play entirely. Most of the lines in which he speaks of this part of his revenge plot following his original declaration of it are moments in which he is attempting to explain that he isn t actually insane. By removing this one, small line we effectively make it easier to argue that his madness isn t a part of his plot but it is an actual part of him. Without having concrete proof before the madness starts that it is, in fact, planned how are we as an audience supposed to trust him? Removing this line makes it so that the readers, and the other characters, are entirely unaware of this part of his plan. He acts mad for a while before he mentions again that this is his plan. The next time Hamlet discloses the part of his revenge plan is when he is speaking to Guildenstern in Act II Scene II, and tells him that his uncle father and aunt mother are deceived and then clarifies ... • 51. Essay On Women In Beowulf In a few literature classics of the Anglo Saxon period, the absence of the female figure in this society is very noticeable. On various pieces, it is obvious that the portrayal of how a woman was nothing without her lord or husband, and how women merely depended on a male figure to be part of the society or even accept it. Throughout the years, society has been changing for women to what it is today. A womantoday does not need a man to be recognized as successful, strong and independent in society. In Beowulf there is evidence of six women in the entire story while, if we count the male figures we can easily figure out the prominence of a patriarchal system. Starting with Grendel s mother, seeking for revenge on her son s death, gives an example of a motherly figure fighting for her youngster. Another example relating to the argument are Wealhtheow and Hygd. Wealhtheow and Hygd are both described as this perfectly lady like of excellent heart girls, whose main job is nothing more than to pass around a cup of mead to the warriors and knights, just basically be hostesses. Meticulously analyzing it is an obvious conclusion that in comparison to the male... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Carefully understanding the text, it describes how the narrator lived in misery, torture, loneliness, agony and pain while she was a recluse. The whole poem is her pointing out how she felt worthless without her husband while he is God knows where ( I grieved each dawn as I wondered were my lord, my first on Earth might be ). The inequality on how a female was sent into reclusion because of not exactly proven accusations of adultery is very unjust due to the fact that men weren t punished as much, if they were even penalized at all. The job of a female consisted on being a house wife, taking care of kids, taking care of the house, while men were working. Girls were completely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They believe they can hold the future in their hands and even think they could change the past, by bringing it back up. You can t change the way things happen. Things happen the way they are supposed to because it would benefit us, as people. If you did create something or bring something up from the past, you re just reliving in the past and could possibly put the present and future in danger. Eventually, life will catch up with you and turn everything around. You can t mess the past and expect everything to turn out the same. Life doesn t work like that. See, some people don t understand that life is like sour milk. You may think it looks okay, but once you get a taste of it, it can be really disappointing. Like with dinosaurs, for example.
