Thus, the first generation, from 1949 to 1976, consisted of Mao Zedong as core, along with Zhou
Enlai, Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De, Chen Yun, Peng Dehuai, and later Lin Biao and the Gang of Four (neither
Lin nor the Gang are today considered by official discourse to be part of this generation because of
political antagonism resulting from the Cultural Revolution). These were the leaders that founded the
People s Republic of China after the Communist victory in the Chinese Civil War. They were born
between 1886 and 1907, although the Gang of Four were a distinct subgroup born 1914 to 1935. Most
were born before the demise of the Qing Dynasty (not including the Gang) and thus lived to see both
the birth and, on the mainland, the end of theRepublic of China. One characteristic of these leaders
were that they tended to be both political and military leaders. Most had some education outsideChina,

The Pandinus Imperator a.k.a. Emperor Scorpion
The Pandinus imperator, also known as the Emperor Scorpion or the Imperial Scorpion, is native to
the hot, humid forests and savannas of Nigeria, Togo, Sierra Leone, Ghana, and the Congo Region.
The Emperor Scorpion is the largest, but not the longest of all the scorpions8. They are also not as
vicious as they look, they would rather flee than fight. However, if they are cornered they will turn
aggressive and go to defensive position. Their venom is categorized as mild and is only as harmful as
a bee sting, unless you are allergic. Their large pedipalps (pinchers) are strong enough to draw blood
from a human. In this paper the topic that will be discussed is how human action can improve the
terrestrial environment that is home to the Emperor Scorpion. Humans need to stop keeping them as
pets, slow down deforestation, and plant more tress. The Emperor Scorpion belongs to the phylum
Arthropoda, the name Arthropoda means jointed feet. An arthropod is an organism that has a hard
exoskeleton made out of a hard substance called chitin. Its body is segmented and each part of its body
has its own pair of legs, which are jointed, and it is also an invertebrate10. An invertebrate is an
organism that lacks a vertebral column which is also called a backbone11. Every phylum of
invertebrates has its own special characteristics, for example cnidarians, of the phylum Cnidaria, have
special stinging organs called nematocysts. While invertebrates like echinoderms, of the phylum

A Report On Traditional Neighbourhood Search Methods
Initial Population: We originally decide the size of the population, and then the method by which the
members for the population are chosen. The primary idea of the size of the population always forms a
trade off between the efficiency and the effectiveness of GA implementation. In general, it appears
that there should be some ideal value for a given length or size of the population, on the grounds that
too little a population would not permit adequate opportunity for exploring the search space
effectively, while too big a population would damage the efficiency of the approach that no solution
could be expected in an realistic amount of time limit [15]. Termination Condition: Traditional
neighbourhood search methods are simple in the sense that they terminate when a local optimum is
encountered. On the other hand, GAs are blind search stochastic optimization techniques that could in
principle run for endlessly, but could converge fast to the solution with right termination criteria set. In
practice, a termination criterion is mandatory to prevent the iterations get infinite; the common
practices are to set a limit on the number of fitness evaluations or the computation time consumed, or
to track the variability in the population and stop when this falls below a pre set boundary value. The
meaning of diversity in the latter case is not always apparent, and it could relate either to the genotype
or the phenotype, but the most effective way is through a measure of the

Clariosophics
Clariosophics and my fellow Euphrosyneans, it is an honor to be here with you for the first meeting of
our two societies during this post refounding era. I hope this is the first of many future meetings
between our societies as we strive to rekindle the flame of the University s societies of the past. I
believe that in order to successfully rekindle this flame we must first have an understanding of the past
of our societies in which our legacy begins. In the beginning of our University s history, there was one
literary society known as Philomathic that was all male, as the University was at the time. Within a
year due to the size of the one society, which included almost the entirety of the student body, two
societies, the Euphradian and Clariosophic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

in 2013 as I m sure all of you know, and in the Spring of 2015, the Euphrosynean Society was
reorganized and was reactivated in the Fall of that same year. That process began when myself and
three other women were approached by a group of Euphradians in the quaint garden behind the
historic Caroliniana Library to discuss their interest in reestablishing their sister society. We were
instantly excited and eager to take the next steps to form a society where young women could meet
together every week to share thoughts that had no other outlet of expression and forge the strong
bonds of sisterhood. We decided that our core values would be Truth, Beauty, and Goodness and many
of our discussion are focused on our collective pursuit of these

Statistical Analysis On The Rate Of Cytoplasmic Streaming
Statistical analysis of variations in the rate of cytoplasmic streaming in Nitella pseudoflabellata due to
differences in cell width and treatment with mechanism inhibitory cytochalasins C and D observed
using light microscopy
Introduction
Cytoplasmic streaming is the organised flow of the cytoplasm and its constituents within a living cell
(Shimmen et al., 2004). Organelles and important molecules move through the cytosol along the
structure of the cytoskeleton (actin filaments and microtubules) with the aid of myosin I, an actin
binding motor protein that plays a part in various cell functions including cell motility and endocytosis
(Flavell et al., 2008). Actin microfilaments (F actin) are the thinnest filaments of the cytoskeleton, ...

As suggested by Seagull et al. (1980), while the rate of cytoplasmic streaming does not vary with the
size of the motile particle (organelle, cargo molecule, etc.) or the size of the cell itself, larger cells with
increased surface area may absorb these mechanism inhibitory substances more readily and may
therefore have slower rates of cytoplasmic streaming as less F actin is available to the myosin
complex at any one time.
Cytochalasins are a group of small organic fungal metabolites which are capable of permeating cell
membranes

its workforce. Reliance borrowed the idea of legal insurance cover and tuition reimbursement from it.
These two strategies serve to attract the most qualified experts in the industry.
The cost target aims at developing a fund set aside for providing benefits to employees. The
management promises that this fund remains off limit to covering company expenses and constantly
grows as the company grows. A sustained growth ensures drafting of more benefits into the existent
package. This methodology aims to serve the changing trends in the market workforce. Thus, the
company asserts that this package provides a long term pathway to retaining experienced employees
and attracting others from rival firms.
In the formulation of the benefit plan, the management sought the services of an independent human
resources firm. The firm has a team of qualified professional to design suitable plans taking in
consideration the legal guidelines set out by the government. Reliance, therefore, rests assured that the
plan effectively meets the legal provisions and its application attains accolades from labor unions. The

officially starts on Monday but I am not seeing it. It is still in the low 20s plus the wind chill factor,
feels more like in the teens. Hope to see spring sometime soon. As you can probably tell, I have
started re working the analysis given the figures from Dr. Ogoshi and Dr. Murthy s team. If you have

Horror Film History
According to Prince (2004), horror films today are more disturbing than those produced during the
genres establishment. During the classical Hollywood era, horror films were located in distant places,
in the woods or abandoned territories. The films would mostly show a group of people going to a
camp where the horror would then take place, or while on a trip, the vehicle would stop halfway in an
unknown place, and the horror would also begin. All scenes would then take place in that abandoned
place chosen by the film. At the end of the film, monsters were killed by the hero. The hero would
then go on to live his live normal, after returning safely to his hometown where it was safe (Prince
2004). The sense of horror taking place in unknown places,

Theme Of Adolescence In The Outsiders
The Outsiders (essay)
The differences between adolescence and adolescent experiences are portrayed in the film The
Outsiders (1983), by Francis Ford Coppola and Clueless (1995), by Amy Heckerling. Coppola uses
visual and verbal techniques such as music, camera angles and sounds to show the friendship between
Johnny and Ponyboy and also depicts the meaning of adolescence.
The notion of adolescence is strengthened and enriched through the film The Outsiders (1983), by
Francis Ford Coppola. The symbolic imagery of the sunrise and sunset symbolises the unity and
connection of the group, this is reinforced in the scene when Ponyboy connects with Cherry at the
cinemas. The greased hair sported by the members of the Greaser gang is perhaps the most potent
symbol in the film. The symbolism of the well groomed hair reflects their wealth and clean cut
upbringing this is reiterated through the Greaser gang has longer, greased hair to reflect their pride in
being from the wrong side of the tracks. For Greasers, long greased hair symbolizes their toughness,
pride in where they come from, and their affiliation with their gang. Above all, the greased hair
symbolizes the boys kinship with one another this also depicts the idea of adolscence. In the long shot
of Johnny and Ponyboy running away to the abandoned church, they cut their hair to disguise
themselves. Ponyboy is not happy about having to change his appearance, and when he returns to the
neighborhood, the other gang members

Vagueness, Ambiguity In Critical Thinking
Teo Camy 4) Explain the concept of vagueness, ambiguity, over generality and definition as used in
critical thinking. Provide examples. Based on Oxford dictionary, the definition of vague is uncertain,
indefinite, or unclear character or meaning (Oxford Dictionaries, n.d.). Vagueness in critical thinking
is an unclear situation with insufficient details given. For example, if we were asked to describe one
particular person who we met for the first time, we will describe looking for the person. He is a tall
man, skinny but little fat, with black pupils . These characteristics are not going to give an image of
that person to others because these features are too common and there are no specific detailed features
being described. Another simple example of vagueness is there are many people in the concert last
night . The statement stated that there are a lot of people, but it does not give any image of how many
people exactly or approximately that attend the concert. Furthermore, another example of sentence
with vague meaning is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Individual) Critical Thinking is a compulsory subject which most students have to study when they
reach university level. The question is why do students have to study this particular subject? In my
opinion, it is because employers in the current market will be looking for thinking skills in university
graduates, with many seeing it as criteria to have these skills while they are choosing their employees.
Many may ask, what is critical thinking? Chaffee defined critical thinking as a purposeful, organized
cognitive process that we use to understand the world and make informed decisions. In simple words,
critical thinking is the ability to think clearly and rationally. Generally, critical thinking skill has been
regarded as one of the most essential living skills in life. The question is how critical thinking skill
would help us in real life and to what

Physician Assisted Death Ethical Dilemma
Physician Assisted vs. Natural Death; Ethical Dilemma In our country the premise of physician
assisted death conjures images of suicidal madmen, hell bent on death and mayhem. The reality is,
that could not be farther from the truth. So why is there a stigma on assisting patients with taking their
own life? Others look at this as a dignified means to those suffering a terrible fate. There are many
issues that weight heavy on the difference between physician assisted and vs. natural death. Is it cruel
to let a terminal ill patient who will suffer horrendously until nature take its course? Would it be more
humane to allow a patient to pass peacefully without the suffering or enduring painful end? This report
will examine physician assisted death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the years since the first approval of physician assisted suicide, the opposition has challenged this
ruling, but in stance to find common ground, the Washington State Medical Association created 13
panel physicians and of Life task force with a sole purpose to find that common ground. According to
the article Finding Common Ground, By putting both issues on the table but not insisting they are
causally linked physicians came together to talk over a range of urgent clinical concerns and search for
common ground (Back, Colley, McGough, 1997). The future depends on finding that common ground,
though it will not be an easy path forward, the notion of physician assisted suicide will still present a
challenging fight. The ethical dilemma of this highly controversial subject will continue to split our
approach to the notion of assisted suicide. As we age, we come to terms with our own mortality, how
we choose to leave this world isn t always up us. For those who suffer from a terminal fate, maybe
they should have the choice, and those who understand their current condition can provide them the
dignity they deserve without repercussions. The only way we as a society can move ahead, is to find a

Essay about The Mass Shooting Epidemic in America
Nine students were killed at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. A man opened fire in
a church, in Charleston, South Carolina, killing nine people, including the pastor. Twenty seven were
killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. Twelve were killed in the Washington Navy
Yard. This is only a few examples from a very long list. The grim truth is that mass shootings are
becoming the new normal. Every few months, another mass shooting occurs and the public goes
through the same routine of mourning, honoring, and ultimately debating. What causes these manic
episodes of multiple, indiscriminate gun deaths? Some push for more gun control, others argue that
the U.S. mental health system is a failure. Controversy aside, ... Show more content on

It is often discovered that the shooters (almost exclusively men) are or were lonely, depressed, or
angry. Many have or had diagnosed mental disorders such as post traumatic stress disorder, attention
deficit disorder, schizophrenia, or Asperger s syndrome. In fact, according to Rachel George of
PolicyMic, of the 24 reported mass shootings since April 2007, 15 have involved a shooter officially
diagnosed with some sort of mental illness (George). In addition to being mentally ill, shooters are
often described as suicidal people, and many shoot themselves after shooting others. It would not
appear, however, that the prevalence of mental disorders among shooters has any correlation with
suicide (as eight of the 15 diagnosed took their own lives, with four of the nine undiagnosed doing the
same, according to George). Cases in which the shooter did not commit suicide can lead to a trial. For
example, James Holmes, a shooter who killed 12 in a Colorado movie theater, plead not guilty to all
charges due to insanity. His trial will occur within the next year. With mental illness identified as a
very probable cause of these shootings, it is critical that the evidently poor and ineffective clinical help
for mental disorders be reevaluated. A theoretical explanation for the modern prevalence of mental
illness could be the increasingly optional nature of treatment: therapy is a choice, and checking into a
facility or institution is

Metropolis Dystopian
Imagine a futuristic culture living in a post apocalyptic era where dystopia reigns and society struggles
to survive. Welcome to Metropolis. Good morning/afternoon, my name is Dana and I am, likewise, a
fellow viewer of Fritz Lang s 1927 film, Metropolis. Despite being eighty four years apart, films from
a particular time period like Metropolis, share many values, attitudes and themes as Veronica Roth s
2011 contemporary dystopian text, Divergent. The futuristic dimensions that they produce often
masquerade dystopia under the guise of a utopian perspective. Many of the attitudes and beliefs
presented by Metropolis interrelate to the contemporary text, Divergent. The commonality is evident
in the discourse of societal class, power struggle and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fundamentally, Metropolis is a timeless tale of class conflict and its struggle for power. Whilst being a
fictional city, the divide of the society of Metropolis presented is firmly set in the reality of greedy,
advantaged upper class and the lowly unappreciated workers they exploit. Lang uses expressionistic
imagery and the strong contrast of light and dark features to differentiate between the two classes
populating the ultramodern city. Director Fritz Lang tapped into Germany s power struggles, issues of
poverty and conflict and fears for the future, with the use of entirely fabricated and profoundly stylised
futuristic background filled with symbolism to convey political messages. In a similar fashion, the
abuse of power is parallel to Divergent. Though the battle at the peak of the novel is fought with the
use of high tech innovations, the circumstances that caused it can be related back to the power
struggles seen in Metropolis. It begins with a group of people believing they ve been treated unjustly,
with deceitfully small amount of say in the government, ultimately ending with conflict. Revolution
and up rising wars begin in much the same way. Jeanine Matthews, a leadership representative, is able
to convince her people to rally against Abnegation. Her method of manipulation through propaganda
and disrespect for other based on a perceived difference mirrors

The Impact Of Black Friday On American Symbols, Values And...
INTRODUCTION
Background and Problem
September 11, 2001. I was busy finishing my Rapport de Stage in the Mackworth College Library,
Derby, England, when a lady came to spread the bad news. Four commercial jetliners were hijacked
and diverted from their paths to be used as guided missiles. Two of the jetliners ended up by crashing
into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, New York City, around 9:00 a.m. local time. Half an
hour later, the third jetliner crashed into the Pentagon, whereas the forth one, supposedly on its way to
Washington D.C., crashed somewhere in Pennsylvania. However, the implications of that Black
Tuesday were far more complicated than the mere reported facts.
To President George W. Bush, the operations that were carried out against his country did not merely
represent acts of terror on American symbols, values and interests, but they represented acts of war
against the United States and to a large extent, the attacks were acts of war, indeed. According to many
critics, these attacks were unprecedented in American history in that they presented a direct, potential
threat to the American territory. The gravity of the event was manifest not only in terms of the scale of
the attacks, but also in terms of the direction in which the guns were pointed. As Chomsky explains
[t]he last time the national territory of the United States was under attack, or for that matter even
threatened, was when the British burned

Hunger In The Hunger Game
In the novel Hunger Game, author Suzanne Collins narrates a girl name Katniss Everdeen who
voluntarily replaces her younger sister, Prime, to be one of the tribute to participate in the hunger
game. She is the family s backbone after her father died in a mining accident. The district only gave
them a small compensation but it s not enough to support her family s living. Soon, they run out of
money and suffer from hunger. They live in the District 12 where it s a poor and food shortage region.
People often suffer from hunger and Katniss is of no exception. In one section of the story, Katniss
could not trade old baby clothes for food or find food from trash bins. She passes by a bakery one day
and she is extremely hungry:
When I passed the baker s, the smell of fresh bread was so overwhelming I felt dizzy. The ovens were
in the back, and a golden glow spilled out the open kitchen door. I stood mesmerized by the heart and
the luscious scent until the rain interfered, running its icy fingers down my back, forcing me back to
life. (Collins 29)
Katniss is immersed in the smell of the aromas of bread, and although she is close to the bakery, she is
not able to eat the fresh bread. For her, the fresh bread will only be for viewing sensation rather than
tasting sensation, and I have a similar experience as Katniss who often suffer hunger. As I read this
section of Katniss, it reminds me that I was an acrobatic school in my 13 years old. Everyone
attending the school had extraordinarily strict dietary restriction. Chocolates, chips, breads, cookies
are snacks that were prohibited. Rice and noodle were limited to only a small amount for eating,
because they are high carb and high starch food. We were only allowed low calorie food to maintain
our physiques even though we were extremely active and were required to practice acrobatics on a
regular basis. We didn t eat enough food before our physical training, because we might vomit if we
eat too much. Although these snacks were my favorite, I could not eat them due to strict rules. I was
only able to enjoy them through the senses of seeing and smelling to satisfy my emotional need for
these comfort foods. At the age of 17, six acrobatics, including me, participated

The Positives Of Colonialism
World Issues: Personal Opinion Essay
The Positives of Colonialism:
Colonialism has been portrayed as leaving negative impacts on countries, however many do not take
into consideration the positives effects of colonization. The people of Africa established a mainstream
religion to follow (Christianity), including new laws and a new political system. Countries bonded
with one another and signed agreements to prevent conflict between countries. It has benefited many
people that were illiterate; schools and education were given importance by the British, whether it was
education in India or Africa all of them were given universal education. Colonization has brought
many benefits to countries like Africa, Pakistan and India. Each country was given the opportunity to
shape themselves, to be able to stand up on their own with British aid. Colonialism moulded the
countries to what they are, and in return the British requested much less than the countries it
supported. With the help of the British, countries managed to stabilize their justice systems, boost their
economy, and introduce a new religion. People misunderstood the British because of the power they
had and assumed that if they were to take over their land, they would lose all control over their
country. However contradicting their common beliefs, countries remained to have control over their
colonies and Britain continued to do its job as a provider. The power Britain encompassed provided

Divorce Mediation And A Divorce Mediator

The Role of a Divorce Mediator in Broadrun, VA
Although a judge and a divorce mediator in Broadrun, Virginia both have the ability to finalize a
divorce case, the way they do so is quite different. The role of a divorce mediator in Broadrun,
Virginia is more of a helping one. In contrast, the role of a judge is that of a decision maker. In most
instances, the parties are more satisfied with the results of their cases when they use a divorce
mediator, primarily because they are able to have a direct role in the negotiation of a settlement
agreement.
A divorce mediator assists the parties in a divorce case with creating a settlement agreement. To do so,
the divorce mediator will first meet with the parties to discuss their positions in the dispute. The
divorce mediator will next attempt to help the parties find common ground in their positions. Once the
parties have reached agreement on an issue, the mediator will make note of the agreement and move
on to the next contested issue. Issue by issue, the divorce mediator will discuss the case with the
parties and help them settle as many issues as possible.
Whereas a judge will make a decision for the parties, the mediator helps them make their own
decisions. In fact, a mediator has no decision making power during mediation. The fate of the case is
entirely in the hands of the parties.

There is no question that there are helpful and harmful attributes to elevation. The argument is
whether these effects are enough to cause an unfair advantage and are they dangerous enough to
warrant a rule to be made about it. There are many things that come into question when addressing the
affects elevation has on athletes such as: the effects of air resistance, air density, low oxygen levels,
and a weaker gravitational pull (Ward Smith). When people think of elevation most people think of in
the mountains or thousands of feet in the air. That is not the case. All of these handicaps and issues can

there is approximately 16% less oxygen in the air (Altitude). At first glance this does not seem like a
big difference but when a highly trained athlete is competing this can be the difference between a loss
or a win. Another measurement of oxygen intake at elevation is the study published in the Journal of
Applied Physiology in 1996, trained and untrained cyclists were asked to undergo a Vo2max test,
Vo2max is the rate of oxygen consumed during the exercise test, at while at sea level and again at five

trained group VO2max dropped by an average of 6.8% due to a fall in arterial oxygen saturation

Compare and Contrast Communism, Socialism, and Capitalism
What is communism? Communism is a term used broadly to designate a theory or system of social
organization based on the holding of all property in common, actual ownership being ascribed to the
community as a whole or to the state. It refers to the doctrine which underlines the revolutionary
movement which aims to abolish capitalism and ultimately to establish a society in which all goods
will be socially owned, all economic activates socially planned and controlled, and in which all
distributions will be in accordance with the maxim. German author Emil Ludwig described the maxim
as for each according to his capacity, to each according to his need. (1) It is to be distinguished from
socialism which aims by constitutional and democratic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As mentions before socialism is the doctrine that espouses public ownership or control of a major
means of production. It aims to achieve an equitable and efficient distribution of social goods and
greater economic planning then exist under capitalism. Although the central concerns of socialism
appears to be economic its ramifications extend to the moral, social and political realms, in fact
together with nationalism, it is the leading ideological and political movement of the 20th century. It is
considered to be the transitional phase between the capitalism and communism. Thus, you would find
all communists advocating for socialism because it lays the foundations for communism. It advocates
an egalitarian society where everyone shares equal wealth and power. There is a considerable
disagreement over how the distribution should take place. Hence, socialism can be said to be between
extreme capitalism and extreme communism with it being nearer to communism. Socialism is liberal.
More people have say in how the economy works. (5) The basic principles of contempary socialism
have their origin in the economic, social and cultural transformations of Europe which occurred during
the 18th and 19th centuries. Contributing factors were the Industrial Revolution and the rise of the
bourgeois and proletarian classes, the enlightenment s secular and rationalistic view of men and
society, and the democratic demands of the French Revolution. Social ownership and

Essay Examining the Irish Republican Army
Examining the Irish Republican Army Throughout history mass movements have contributed to
changing the face of the world. Some most notable are that of the Bolsheviks and the Nazis. These
movements and others like them have emerged as a result of the mistreatment of people, to preserve a
group of people or propagate an idea or view. No matter the reason behind the start of the group, they
all have one goal; the end result of every mass movement is to bring change. The mass movement that
will be discussed is the Irish Republican Army, otherwise known as the IRA. The catalyst that caused
its formation, a specific identification and analysis of the membership and the societal, religious,
cultural, political, and national effect it had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beyond that, the goal of the Irish Volunteers was to Secure and maintain the rights and liberties
common to the whole people of Ireland. In fact, this goal was similar, if not the same, only worded
differently to the Irish Republican Army. Beyond that, they were also established to enforce the
imminent Home Rule Devolution. Act. Now, these Volunteers were formed in response to the
formation of the Ulster Volunteer in 1913. The Ulster Volunteers were founded by Protestant Unionists
in the north. Indeed, their goal was to stop the enactment of the Home Rule Devolution. Act.
Incidentally, the Ulster Volunteers were mainly against the Irish Volunteers because they consisted of
Catholics that wanted to be independent from British rule. Meanwhile, the Ulster Volunteers wanted to
stay under British rule (Irish Volunteers).
In brief, the Irish Volunteers exist to help keep the liberties and rights common to all people of Ireland
by enforcing the Home Rule Devolution. Act that the Ulster Volunteers were fighting to abolish.
However, during the events of the Easter Rising, the Irish Volunteers were forced to disband. After
their end, Michael Collins and a few other remnants took up the mantle and rebranded themselves the
IRA. At first glance, it would seem as though the IRA only exists because of the disbanding of the
Irish Volunteers. What is more is that they were members of the Volunteers continuing on their goals.

Outdoor Graduation
Do you remember the day you graduated from high school? Do you recall the joy and happiness you
experienced when you stepped up on that stage to receive your diploma? in general, students look
forward to the day they graduate high school. Where the students have their graduation ceremonies
has been debated by students for many years. Although outdoor graduations may cost more than
indoor and require a lot more effort, they could be worth a student s time and money in the end. That
is why an outdoor graduation should be a student s first choice over an indoor graduation. First off, an
outdoor graduation should be a student s first choice because it would allow more people to attend the
ceremony. for example, if a graduating class consists of more than 500 people, then there would be
limited space at an indoor graduation for students and families. At an outdoor graduation, space is an
available resource and more people would be able to attend. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For many years in Gateway, high school students pay class dues throughout their high school career in
order to ultimately afford an outdoor graduation. The money would cover most of the expenses
required to set up for an outdoor ceremony. Some students in Gateway argue that this is a waste of
money because it doesn t matter where we graduate, as long as we receive our diploma. I think it does
matter, because a high school student only graduates once, and graduation should be a memorable
experience. And where would you rather make good memories? Inside, where you have limited space
and where less family members could share the joy with you, or outside on a beautiful summer day

Essay on Media Effects on Body Image
With the tremendous effect the media has on men women s body image/self esteem, there are things
the media and those being effected can do to limit the impact. The media can change the portrayal of
models in magazines, television, billboards, etc. By portraying unrealistic models, studies can
conclude that it causes a negative effect on men and women leading to eating disorders, self esteem
problems, and possibly even sometimes more dramatic actions such as suicide (Groesz, Levine, and

Last, more organizations such as, About Face, fighting against negative images of women in the media
could possibly help to decrease the problem. About Face is a non profit organization out of San
Francisco. It began in August of 1995 and their purpose is to combat negative and distorted images of
women in the media. They first started when an advertisement of Kate Moss for perfume was
displayed and her body image was altered and adjusted and made her look skeletal. They took that
same poster had Emaciation Stinks in bold printed across the top and Stop Starvation Imagery across
the bottom of the poster and hung hundreds of their version all over the streets of San Francisco. This
event gave many others the motivation to voice their opinions on media s negative images of women
and to also get involved in organizations such as About Face (About Face). If more and more people
learn about how much the media is effecting not only women but men and both of all ages, and get
involved in more organizations that battle against this, it might not stop the media from doing what
they are doing, but it could help others to follow their footsteps instead of falling into the media s
negative wrath of unrealistic body image

Causes Of Gangs
When the word gangs comes to mind, one can immediately picture a big, tall male figure often
covered with tattoos, piercings, and maybe even a bald headed guy. One might think that gangs only
occur in areas like Los Angeles, Brooklyn, and areas illustrated in movies. Gangs are also becoming
more glorified in the media. For example, while listening to a rap song on the radio, some sort of gang
reference will come up. Gangs can often target the young and the vulnerable due to many reasons,
such as peer pressure and fear. Also, they may target someone who is in need and vulnerable for
falling into gang violence and actions.
Some of the direct causes for individuals to join gangs are due to the social aspect. It can be because

Once you re in, there are only two ways to get out: by dying or running (Martinez Pg 33). Therefore,
sometimes young adults or even adults feel pressured to be involved or to continue being involved in
gangs because they have the fear of being murdered. Sometimes the fear of being left out pressures
them into getting involved in gangs, and they end up leading a violent lifestyle. Since gangs are
typically associated with fear, most individuals can fall into this peer pressure to join a gang due to
fear of the consequences which can range from violence, like threats, to even their death.
Another aspect of feeling accepted can come from family related issues. Young people might feel that
they don t receive enough support or attention at home. They may be trying to escape a negative home
life, or may be looking for a father figure. Gangs often make promises to give unconditional support
and to become the family they never had (Why People Join Gangs). In some cases, individuals who
join gangs can be looking for a way out of their home. This can be due to family issues they are
experiencing, or also they may not be receiving attention in their home. Gangs are often seen in areas
where poor living conditions occur and where social economic statuses are present.Children and teens
living in these circumstances can experience lack of attention simply because the family needs to work
and meet ends meet. This circumstance, which does not seem so malicious, can leave the

Success Rates of the Re-establishment of the Fynbos in the...
Introduction
The Tokai forest is currently under rehabilitation for the re establishment of fynbos after the
commercial pine had been planted there 11 years to 23 years ago. The commercial pine was originally
planted in the Tokai for commercial and industrial reasons, such as to make paper or wood for fire. On
top of affecting the natural fynbos vegetation the pine was also jeopardizing the surrounding
environment by starving the other plant life of the natural water resources. The cutting of the
commercial pine is aiming to re establish the indigenous Cape Flats Sand Fynbos, that is naturally
found in the Tokai vegetation.

Background of commercial pine clearings:
The clearings began in April 2005 where they started to cut down the Cecilia pines, type of pine tree
in Tokai. (http://www.sanparks.co.za/parks/table_mountain/environment/tokai.php) This pine was for
commercial use meaning it was always intended to be harvested for industrial uses, such making of
paper. These pines were originally planted in 1885 and were fist harvested in 1920, where more of the
same pine was planted 10 years after.
Reasons for cutting the pines:
The Cecilia pines were originally planted for industrial use, meaning that it was always going to be
used as fire wood or turned to paper. It is also important to remember that the pines were an alien
plant, preventing the indigenous fynbos to grow. The Cecilia pine specifically is as pine tree that
consumes large sums water, restraining the other indigenous plants from a water source in the forest.
By removing the pines water levels in local dams, streams and rivers should increase vastly. The pine
tree is a very good heat and fire conductor, however their fire risk potential is increased by every
specific pine needle on the forest bed. (http://www.waterrhapsody.co.za/2011/03/16/the cutting of pine
trees in cecelia forest/) This creates a risk to neighboring forests and civilizations near by these pines
because of the quickes rates these fires spread and increase putting all areas surrounding them in

The Wood Duck Thesis
James Thurber s The Wood Duck , published in 1936, splits nature into multiple recognizable pieces,
some to be hunted and used for human gain, while others are to be left alone for a distant enjoyment,
like merciful gods gazing down upon a simple, weak being. Death would be easy for the small being,
is easy, and yet it lives and so it is treasured as a small entertainment. The Wood Duck , rather than
take an obvious stance against or for human industrialization and what it does to the ecosystems that
share our small blueish planet, instead brings to light the jarring contradiction in which humans live
with nature as both aggressors and innocently curious viewers of a nature that is forced to adapt to
survive in a world humans had vitally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without this bonding and recognizable worth, nature and the beings within it act as little more than a
blended setting rather than each having individual worth in themselves. Only the hunters, who were
recognized as going out and purposefully killing other creatures for sport, felt any amount of internal
conflict when presented with the duck s possible death by a car. They, too, had bonded with the duck
in some way so that it no longer fell into the same category as other ducks, that of possible prey, but
into a category similar to their own dog and thus out of bounds to kill intentionally. When faced with
the sudden possible death, the hunters felt embarrassed and self conscious , probably due to the fact
that they had been jarred into self reflection and realized what they had unintentionally done by
subconsciously declaring the farmer s wood duck as somehow different from the ones they were
possibly looking forward to hunting in the repopulated forest nearby (2). To them the duck had been
granted a brief level of importance, like a pet, which had then been taken back once the fowl had died
and resembled the very birds they had been looking forward to hunting later. Nature, similarly to how
the hunters viewed the wood duck, was only not allowed to be killed or torn away or buried under oil
stained concrete when and if it reflected a worth given to it by a human being. Without that reflected
worth it held no possible reason to not be hunted or smothered by man made products, as only then
once it had been hunted or turned into something useful could it be recognized as having a worth. On
one side of the story there is an inquisitive narrator, his wife, and a relatively friendly farmer who
view the duck and thus nature as something tangible and possibly

Susan Cain Ted Talk Analysis
The Power of This Introvert Susan Cain s Ted Talk The Power Of Introverts brought a new
conversation to society in how introverts are treated. Five years ago (when this took place) this topic
was not very well discussed, which made this piece very eye opening for some. Using Aristotle s
appeals: logos and pathos, as well as a comparative argument in her ted talk, Cain persuades viewers
that we as a society oppress/shame introverts, not allowing them to strive or be themselves in our now
extroverted society. She advocates for a more balanced society that serves both introverts and
extroverts instead of just extroverts. Cain s speech uses pathos to allow the audience to understand
how introverts are oppressed in society, and why this is a problem. Cain starts the speech off with an
emotionally driven story that demonstrates how she was shamed for her introverted tendencies as a
young girl in camp. I got the message that somehow my quiet and introverted style of being was not
necessarily the right way to go, that I should be trying to pass as more of an extrovert. This idea that
introverts are encouraged and almost forced to be someone they are not is pathos because it persuades
the audience through a feeling of injustice and compassion, as well as relatability from fellow
introverts. Cain extends this idea as a loss to society as well, stating it is our collegues loss, our ...

Advantages Of College Tuition
College tuition should not be free by any means necessary. Students would not take college seriously
if there was no price. College students would totally take advantage of the opportunity to go to college
for free and completely blow it , it would even the playing field for everyone to be equal because
college tuition is what keeps everyone else out. College would then be accessible to anyone who
wanted to go. Tuition is put in place for a reason. It shouldn t be lifted because if it is the government
will end up having to come out of more money to fund the things that more of the college students
need as such as books, computer labs etc. The government would most likely needing more funding
that would mean the taxpayers taxes might have to increase without their say so it probably wouldn t

college is that most students come from disproportionately well off backgrounds and already enjoy
disproportionately well off futures... With that being stated, I feel like no one should get a free handout
especially those who are of the well off status. Why should they get everything so easy? Make them
work for it. By making tuition free you would just basically be handing them a degree without having
to work hard for it. Majority of the time when there is money at hand, (tuition) college then seems to

destruction is one of the first things that comes to mind, the spread of hatred and complete cities in

merely mentioned at the fore front of discussions. Robert M. Edsel s The Monuments Men tells the
story of nine men and one woman who set out to preserve and rescue works of art that had been taken

He does this with a sizable group of characters and various viewpoints from different groups to engage
the reader and bring his story to life. The author s use of primary sources adds another element to the
reader s ability to understand the factual happenings of the real life experiences the characters
underwent. This method of engaging the audience is ingenious because it creates a consistent level of
interest. Edsel is right to call it the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History because of the brutal and
burdensome work that when into this stringent mission and the primary sources used demonstrate
exactly what the Monuments Men had gone through and the level of commitment that was put into
what they were doing. However, despite it being a non fiction narrative, Edsel elects to include small
scenes of dialogue. This invention was not effect because these various passage did not offer a
different dimension to the story. It was clear to the audience that these scenes were inauthentic
because of their unorthodox placement in the middle of a facts driven passages. Edsel shows an

In terms of guerilla warfare, there are smaller groups of soldiers who are not part of a traditional army.
These combatants use military tactics to fight a larger, more established army. Bonaparte, the main

the two Englishmen are hostages and that ultimately he has to kill them. He stills hopes for
circumstances to change, so he can abandon his duty and spare their lives because he really has
nothing against them. Bonaparte grows to like Belcher and Hawkins despite their being on opposing
sides of the war and vice versa.

Jay s Dangerous Illusions in The Great Gatsby
America is a land of opportunity and hopes and dreams can become reality. The American Dream
consists of the notion that the struggling poor can achieve financial success through hard work. F.
Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, puts this premise to the test while also warning against the
dangers of believing too passionately in any dream. The central character, Jay Gatsby, proves a tragic
hero who succeeds financially but fails emotionally when he attempts to hold onto something from the

illusions eventually result in the unfortunate downfall of Jay Gatsby. ... Show more content on

Jay Gatsby s current state is one of emptiness and despair because he fails to live in the present by

dreams from age to age (Fitzgerald 143), but Daisy has moved on with her marriage to Tom, while
Gatsby is left stretching out his arms toward the dark water in a curious way (Fitzgerald 25). Gatsby
finally musters the courage to become reunited with Daisy Buchanan, with the help of his next door

minutes at least, the two connect with passionate intensity, but Nick makes the observation that:
There must have been moments even that afternoon when Daisy tumbled short of his dreams not
through her own fault but because of the colossal vitality of his illusion. It had gone beyond her,
beyond everything. He had thrown himself into it with a creative passion, adding to it all the time,
decking it out with every bright feather that drifted his way. No amount of fire or freshness can

Thus, the first generation, from 1949 to 1976, consisted of Mao Zedong as core, along with Zhou Enlai, Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De, Chen Yun, Peng Dehuai, and later Lin Biao and the Gang of Four (neither Lin nor the Gang are today considered by official discourse to be part of this generation because of political antagonism resulting from the Cultural Revolution). These were the leaders that founded the People s Republic of China after the Communist victory in the Chinese Civil War. They were born between 1886 and 1907, although the Gang of Four were a distinct subgroup born 1914 to 1935. Most were born before the demise of the Qing Dynasty (not including the Gang) and thus lived to see both the birth and, on the mainland, the end of theRepublic of China. One characteristic of these leaders were that they tended to be both political and military leaders. • 3. The Pandinus Imperator a.k.a. Emperor Scorpion The Pandinus imperator, also known as the Emperor Scorpion or the Imperial Scorpion, is native to the hot, humid forests and savannas of Nigeria, Togo, Sierra Leone, Ghana, and the Congo Region. The Emperor Scorpion is the largest, but not the longest of all the scorpions8. They are also not as vicious as they look, they would rather flee than fight. However, if they are cornered they will turn aggressive and go to defensive position. Their venom is categorized as mild and is only as harmful as a bee sting, unless you are allergic. Their large pedipalps (pinchers) are strong enough to draw blood from a human. In this paper the topic that will be discussed is how human action can improve the terrestrial environment that is home to the Emperor Scorpion. Humans need to stop keeping them as pets, slow down deforestation, and plant more tress. The Emperor Scorpion belongs to the phylum Arthropoda, the name Arthropoda means jointed feet. An arthropod is an organism that has a hard exoskeleton made out of a hard substance called chitin. Its body is segmented and each part of its body has its own pair of legs, which are jointed, and it is also an invertebrate10. An invertebrate is an organism that lacks a vertebral column which is also called a backbone11. Every phylum of invertebrates has its own special characteristics, for example cnidarians, of the phylum Cnidaria, have special stinging organs called nematocysts. While invertebrates like echinoderms, of the phylum ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Report On Traditional Neighbourhood Search Methods Initial Population: We originally decide the size of the population, and then the method by which the members for the population are chosen. The primary idea of the size of the population always forms a trade off between the efficiency and the effectiveness of GA implementation. In general, it appears that there should be some ideal value for a given length or size of the population, on the grounds that too little a population would not permit adequate opportunity for exploring the search space effectively, while too big a population would damage the efficiency of the approach that no solution could be expected in an realistic amount of time limit [15]. Termination Condition: Traditional neighbourhood search methods are simple in the sense that they terminate when a local optimum is encountered. On the other hand, GAs are blind search stochastic optimization techniques that could in principle run for endlessly, but could converge fast to the solution with right termination criteria set. In practice, a termination criterion is mandatory to prevent the iterations get infinite; the common practices are to set a limit on the number of fitness evaluations or the computation time consumed, or to track the variability in the population and stop when this falls below a pre set boundary value. The meaning of diversity in the latter case is not always apparent, and it could relate either to the genotype or the phenotype, but the most effective way is through a measure of the ... • 5. Clariosophics Clariosophics and my fellow Euphrosyneans, it is an honor to be here with you for the first meeting of our two societies during this post refounding era. I hope this is the first of many future meetings between our societies as we strive to rekindle the flame of the University s societies of the past. I believe that in order to successfully rekindle this flame we must first have an understanding of the past of our societies in which our legacy begins. In the beginning of our University s history, there was one literary society known as Philomathic that was all male, as the University was at the time. Within a year due to the size of the one society, which included almost the entirety of the student body, two societies, the Euphradian and Clariosophic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Euphradian Society was reactivated in 2011, the Clariosophic Society followed shortly thereafter in 2013 as I m sure all of you know, and in the Spring of 2015, the Euphrosynean Society was reorganized and was reactivated in the Fall of that same year. That process began when myself and three other women were approached by a group of Euphradians in the quaint garden behind the historic Caroliniana Library to discuss their interest in reestablishing their sister society. We were instantly excited and eager to take the next steps to form a society where young women could meet together every week to share thoughts that had no other outlet of expression and forge the strong bonds of sisterhood. We decided that our core values would be Truth, Beauty, and Goodness and many of our discussion are focused on our collective pursuit of these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Statistical Analysis On The Rate Of Cytoplasmic Streaming Statistical analysis of variations in the rate of cytoplasmic streaming in Nitella pseudoflabellata due to differences in cell width and treatment with mechanism inhibitory cytochalasins C and D observed using light microscopy Introduction Cytoplasmic streaming is the organised flow of the cytoplasm and its constituents within a living cell (Shimmen et al., 2004). Organelles and important molecules move through the cytosol along the structure of the cytoskeleton (actin filaments and microtubules) with the aid of myosin I, an actin binding motor protein that plays a part in various cell functions including cell motility and endocytosis (Flavell et al., 2008). Actin microfilaments (F actin) are the thinnest filaments of the cytoskeleton, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As suggested by Seagull et al. (1980), while the rate of cytoplasmic streaming does not vary with the size of the motile particle (organelle, cargo molecule, etc.) or the size of the cell itself, larger cells with increased surface area may absorb these mechanism inhibitory substances more readily and may therefore have slower rates of cytoplasmic streaming as less F actin is available to the myosin complex at any one time. Cytochalasins are a group of small organic fungal metabolites which are capable of permeating cell membranes Nitella pseudoflabellata is Aims 1. To measure the rate of cytoplasmic streaming in Nitella pseudoflabellata cells in pond water 2. Correlate the rate of cytoplasmic streaming with the width of the cell 3. Determine the mechanism behind cytoplasmic streaming in Nitella pseudoflabellata by observing variations in cytoplasmic streaming following treatment with cytochalasins C or D Materials and Methods Materials and methods were followed from (Keszei, 2014) with a few exceptions: o Only 50 µL of each cytochalasin C and cytochalasin D were provided o Cytoplasmic streaming was measured 4 times after flushing the cells with pond water, at 5 minute intervals Results Table 1 Rate of cytoplasmic streaming in Nitella cells in pond water Cell # Cell width (μm) Time to ... In a sense, many people are on the recovery mode today including us. They said Spring officially starts on Monday but I am not seeing it. It is still in the low 20s plus the wind chill factor, feels more like in the teens. Hope to see spring sometime soon. As you can probably tell, I have started re working the analysis given the figures from Dr. Ogoshi and Dr. Murthy s team. If you have followed the email exchanges, you probably noted that Dr. Murthy s team is using different yield levels than us. I am not really sure why that is the case. At any rate, you may want to clarify with the team when you have the meeting to ensure that everybody is on the same page. For the current analysis, I am using the crop yields agreed upon with Dr. Ogoshi. I will also incorporate the jet fuel processing cost calculated by Dr. Murthy s team. During the classical Hollywood era, horror films were located in distant places, in the woods or abandoned territories. The films would mostly show a group of people going to a camp where the horror would then take place, or while on a trip, the vehicle would stop halfway in an unknown place, and the horror would also begin. • 11. Theme Of Adolescence In The Outsiders The Outsiders (essay) The differences between adolescence and adolescent experiences are portrayed in the film The Outsiders (1983), by Francis Ford Coppola and Clueless (1995), by Amy Heckerling. Coppola uses visual and verbal techniques such as music, camera angles and sounds to show the friendship between Johnny and Ponyboy and also depicts the meaning of adolescence. The notion of adolescence is strengthened and enriched through the film The Outsiders (1983), by Francis Ford Coppola. The symbolic imagery of the sunrise and sunset symbolises the unity and connection of the group, this is reinforced in the scene when Ponyboy connects with Cherry at the cinemas. The greased hair sported by the members of the Greaser gang is perhaps the most potent symbol in the film. The symbolism of the well groomed hair reflects their wealth and clean cut upbringing this is reiterated through the Greaser gang has longer, greased hair to reflect their pride in being from the wrong side of the tracks. For Greasers, long greased hair symbolizes their toughness, pride in where they come from, and their affiliation with their gang. Above all, the greased hair symbolizes the boys kinship with one another this also depicts the idea of adolscence. • 12. Vagueness, Ambiguity In Critical Thinking Teo Camy 4) Explain the concept of vagueness, ambiguity, over generality and definition as used in critical thinking. Provide examples. Based on Oxford dictionary, the definition of vague is uncertain, indefinite, or unclear character or meaning (Oxford Dictionaries, n.d.). Vagueness in critical thinking is an unclear situation with insufficient details given. For example, if we were asked to describe one particular person who we met for the first time, we will describe looking for the person. He is a tall man, skinny but little fat, with black pupils . These characteristics are not going to give an image of that person to others because these features are too common and there are no specific detailed features being described. Another simple example of vagueness is there are many people in the concert last night . The statement stated that there are a lot of people, but it does not give any image of how many people exactly or approximately that attend the concert. Many may ask, what is critical thinking? Chaffee defined critical thinking as a purposeful, organized cognitive process that we use to understand the world and make informed decisions. In simple words, critical thinking is the ability to think clearly and rationally. Generally, critical thinking skill has been regarded as one of the most essential living skills in life. A man opened fire in a church, in Charleston, South Carolina, killing nine people, including the pastor. Twenty seven were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. Twelve were killed in the Washington Navy Yard. This is only a few examples from a very long list. The grim truth is that mass shootings are becoming the new normal. Every few months, another mass shooting occurs and the public goes through the same routine of mourning, honoring, and ultimately debating. Many have or had diagnosed mental disorders such as post traumatic stress disorder, attention deficit disorder, schizophrenia, or Asperger s syndrome. In fact, according to Rachel George of PolicyMic, of the 24 reported mass shootings since April 2007, 15 have involved a shooter officially diagnosed with some sort of mental illness (George). In addition to being mentally ill, shooters are often described as suicidal people, and many shoot themselves after shooting others. It would not appear, however, that the prevalence of mental disorders among shooters has any correlation with suicide (as eight of the 15 diagnosed took their own lives, with four of the nine undiagnosed doing the same, according to George). Cases in which the shooter did not commit suicide can lead to a trial. For example, James Holmes, a shooter who killed 12 in a Colorado movie theater, plead not guilty to all charges due to insanity. His trial will occur within the next year. With mental illness identified as a very probable cause of these shootings, it is critical that the evidently poor and ineffective clinical help for mental disorders be reevaluated. A theoretical explanation for the modern prevalence of mental illness could be the increasingly optional nature of treatment: therapy is a choice, and checking into a facility or institution is ... • 16. The Impact Of Black Friday On American Symbols, Values And... INTRODUCTION Background and Problem September 11, 2001. I was busy finishing my Rapport de Stage in the Mackworth College Library, Derby, England, when a lady came to spread the bad news. Four commercial jetliners were hijacked and diverted from their paths to be used as guided missiles. Two of the jetliners ended up by crashing into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, New York City, around 9:00 a.m. local time. Half an hour later, the third jetliner crashed into the Pentagon, whereas the forth one, supposedly on its way to Washington D.C., crashed somewhere in Pennsylvania. However, the implications of that Black Tuesday were far more complicated than the mere reported facts. To President George W. Bush, the operations that were carried out against his country did not merely represent acts of terror on American symbols, values and interests, but they represented acts of war against the United States and to a large extent, the attacks were acts of war, indeed. According to many critics, these attacks were unprecedented in American history in that they presented a direct, potential threat to the American territory. The gravity of the event was manifest not only in terms of the scale of the attacks, but also in terms of the direction in which the guns were pointed. As Chomsky explains [t]he last time the national territory of the United States was under attack, or for that matter even threatened, was when the British burned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We didn t eat enough food before our physical training, because we might vomit if we eat too much. Although these snacks were my favorite, I could not eat them due to strict rules. To do so, the divorce mediator will first meet with the parties to discuss their positions in the dispute. When people think of elevation most people think of in the mountains or thousands of feet in the air. That is not the case. All of these handicaps and issues can affect athletic events that are held in heights as low as one thousand five hundred feet. They, too, had bonded with the duck in some way so that it no longer fell into the same category as other ducks, that of possible prey, but into a category similar to their own dog and thus out of bounds to kill intentionally. When faced with the sudden possible death, the hunters felt embarrassed and self conscious , probably due to the fact that they had been jarred into self reflection and realized what they had unintentionally done by subconsciously declaring the farmer s wood duck as somehow different from the ones they were possibly looking forward to hunting in the repopulated forest nearby (2). To them the duck had been granted a brief level of importance, like a pet, which had then been taken back once the fowl had died and resembled the very birds they had been looking forward to hunting later. Nature, similarly to how the hunters viewed the wood duck, was only not allowed to be killed or torn away or buried under oil stained concrete when and if it reflected a worth given to it by a human being. Without that reflected worth it held no possible reason to not be hunted or smothered by man made products, as only then once it had been hunted or turned into something useful could it be recognized as having a worth. On one side of the story there is an inquisitive narrator, his wife, and a relatively friendly farmer who view the duck and thus nature as something tangible and possibly ... • 29. Susan Cain Ted Talk Analysis The Power of This Introvert Susan Cain s Ted Talk The Power Of Introverts brought a new conversation to society in how introverts are treated. Five years ago (when this took place) this topic was not very well discussed, which made this piece very eye opening for some. Using Aristotle s appeals: logos and pathos, as well as a comparative argument in her ted talk, Cain persuades viewers that we as a society oppress/shame introverts, not allowing them to strive or be themselves in our now extroverted society. She advocates for a more balanced society that serves both introverts and extroverts instead of just extroverts. Cain s speech uses pathos to allow the audience to understand how introverts are oppressed in society, and why this is a problem. Cain starts the speech off with an emotionally driven story that demonstrates how she was shamed for her introverted tendencies as a young girl in camp. I got the message that somehow my quiet and introverted style of being was not necessarily the right way to go, that I should be trying to pass as more of an extrovert. This idea that introverts are encouraged and almost forced to be someone they are not is pathos because it persuades the audience through a feeling of injustice and compassion, as well as relatability from fellow introverts. Cain extends this idea as a loss to society as well, stating it is our collegues loss, our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not being affiliated with the company, the hired team can imitate a more realistic approach an individual might take to gain access or information. When it comes to the selection of tools to use in a pentest there is the choice between automated and manual tests. In an online article written by Fergal Glynn, he explains that penetration testing tools are used as part of a pentest to automate certain tasks, improve testing efficiency, and discover issues that might be difficult to find using manual techniques. There are two common penetration testing tools: static analysis tools and dynamic analysis tools. Louisiana has the best seafood, hands down. Just take my word for it. So my aunts that live in Texas don t get to eat good seafood except for when they visit. My dad likes to make something yummy for them that they don t normally get to eat. He makes grilled and fried fish and shrimp fettuccine, which is cheesy noodles and shrimp, it s wonderful. College students would totally take advantage of the opportunity to go to college for free and completely blow it , it would even the playing field for everyone to be equal because college tuition is what keeps everyone else out. College would then be accessible to anyone who wanted to go. Tuition is put in place for a reason. It shouldn t be lifted because if it is the government will end up having to come out of more money to fund the things that more of the college students need as such as books, computer labs etc. The government would most likely needing more funding that would mean the taxpayers taxes might have to increase without their say so it probably wouldn t even be an option. Edsel is right to call it the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History because of the brutal and burdensome work that when into this stringent mission and the primary sources used demonstrate exactly what the Monuments Men had gone through and the level of commitment that was put into what they were doing. However, despite it being a non fiction narrative, Edsel elects to include small scenes of dialogue. The American Dream consists of the notion that the struggling poor can achieve financial success through hard work. F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, puts this premise to the test while also warning against the dangers of believing too passionately in any dream. Gatsby finally musters the courage to become reunited with Daisy Buchanan, with the help of his next door neighbor, Nick Carraway. Nick holds tea at his house and invites the unsuspecting Daisy. For a few minutes at least, the two connect with passionate intensity, but Nick makes the observation that: There must have been moments even that afternoon when Daisy tumbled short of his dreams not through her own fault but because of the colossal vitality of his illusion. It had gone beyond her, beyond everything. He had thrown himself into it with a creative passion, adding to it all the time, decking it out with every bright feather that drifted his way.
