Essay on Dietary Factors in Preventing Heart Disease
Dietary Factors in Preventing Heart Disease As coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death in
the UK, more attention should be paid to preventing the disease. Many patients suffering from heart
disease realise that it was mainly caused by their diet. Research has shown that elevated levels of LDL
cholesterol are associated with increased risk of heart disease. Studies indicate that for every 1%
elevation in the bad cholesterol there is a 2% increase in risk of heart disease (A leaflet on heart
disease.) Continually it has been proved that a low fat, high fibre diet rich in unrefined complex
carbohydrates helps lower the risk of heart disease and improve general heart ... Show more content

Benecol foods are another way to help prevent Heart Disease. The unique ingredients in benecol foods
block the absorption of cholesterol into the body. In Finland over 1 million have eaten Benecol
margarine since 1995. Benecol is the first and only range of foods to contain plant stanol ester.
(www.benecol.co.uk/howben cont.html) All Benecol foods contain plant stanol ester, a unique
ingredient derived from plants that has the ability to work with your body to actually lower blood
cholesterol when eaten as part of a healthy diet. Benecol has a range of foods that are easy to include
in your diet, e.g. yoghurts, cheeses and spreads. These I have noticed are readily available in shops
and are not out of reach of a reasonable budget. Benecol foods taste no different to your ordinary
foods. Two are three servings a day will give you the optimum cholesterol reducing effect combined
with a healthy eating routine. Once you start eating benecol foods regularly, your cholesterol levels
may begin to fall within 1 to 2 weeks (www.benecol.co.uk) Benecol does have one downfall, if you
stop eating it, the cholesterol your blood

It Requires Maximum Effort For Ensuring Secure Boundaries...
It requires maximum effort to ensure secure boundaries of this company s network from. After people,
information is our greatest asset which is why it would be in the company s best interest to invest in its
protection. When we take the defensive approach we tend to attempt thinking along the lines as an
attacker. It s helpful to be familiar with several of the tools that are made available to them and the
ways these devices are used. More often than not an attack is planned. These incidents happen in
segments and there is a method to an attackers approach.
Therefore, most attacks do not merely happen. The attacks are elaborately planned out in phases.

We could then act to protect those areas so that they are not unwanted doors to our critical data.
Once the vulnerability scans are active and in place, I suggest a strong stateful firewall that will detect
infiltration. This firewall should be capable of stateful inspections. Network/Host Intrusion Detection
Systems (IDS) are helpful in alerting of a breach. In addition, an unused ports should be closed and
filter the excess. Firewalls can help with the ports as well as port scanners (EC Council, 2010, p. 3
18). These are recommended administration tools that will defend against network attacks.
Scanning tools can aid the work on a network on either side. They are comparable guns, they can be
used to harm or protect. Security scanners move through a list of known areas of weakness and
explore each system (Tittle, 2003). There are also IP scanners, audits, and web server scanners
available to add to the protective layers. Attackers access to tools to assist in their attacks and the key
is to be the best position to prepare for those attacks. Popular among the Black hats are port scanners
similar to Hping2. Used maliciously port scanning is based on a system or rhythm to search for ports
in order to gain entry (Stewart, 2000). Hping2 is a command line based tool capable of using ICMP

Research Paper On William The Conqueror
Duke of Normandy, William the First: Conqueror or Bastard?
William the Conqueror: a powerful man who was taking what was rightfully his, or an illegitimate son
thirsty for power, only history can tell if his actions were an act of justice. This debate contains a lot of
confusion between promises, traditions overlapping, the support of the people, and proven powerful
enough to rule. After understanding the conflicts at the time, history has proven that William the
Conqueror proved to have a legitimate claim to the throne, much more than his competition at the
time. In order to understand history, we have to look back and see how we got to this point, starting
with the set up for this situation.
To understand William, we have to understand his life. William was born in 1027 to Robert I, Duke of
Normandy, by his concubine Arlette, a tanner s daughter from the town of Falaise as an illegitimate
son (History.com Staff). This is one of the many factors that came to debate later on as he tries to take
the throne since he was born out of an affair. Due to his father s death, he was named Duke of
Normandy at age seven (History.com Staff). Many people were not pleased with the former King s
decision and started many rebellions, all of which William escaped. In 1051, William visited England
and met with his cousin Edward the Confessor, the childless English king. According to Norman
historians, Edward promised to make William his heir. On his deathbed, however, Edward granted the

What Is The Change In 80 s Dance

Analysis Of Sherman Alexie s The Lone Ranger And Tonto...
Throughout The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven the theme of resilience is deliberately
presented. Native Americans past and present continue to face stifling issues such as racism,
alcoholism, isolation and suicide. Sherman Alexie makes it his obligation in his stories and poems to
show Native American resiliency through humor. By using his characters to show resiliency through
humor Alexie presents humor as an integral part of Native American survival. In Sherman Alexie s
best work to date The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fist Fight in Heaven humor allows his characters to
display strength, hide weakness, to expose prejudice, avoid realities and to create bonds (Coulombe,
94). I believe Alexie s humor engages readers creating positive connections between individuals of
diverse backgrounds and disrupts tension between racial communities. Humor is often defined by its
fluidity, its paradoxes and its ability to surprise (Coulombe, 95). Humor teaches self knowledge and
social awareness. Alexie s use of humor encourages readers to think anew by creating a space of
shared inquiry and reciprocal empathy. Many believe his play to humor and writing betrays Indian
people by presenting them as clichés to be laughed person s name says hey while other persona says
he Avoiding to educate white readers and re instill cultural pride in Indian readers he actively works
against such goals with his humor . However I believe Sherman Alexie humor is central to

Extend Fertility Analysis
Extend Fertility Analysis
Extend Fertility Analysis
This assignment is about a critical analysis of Christy Jones, founder of Extend Fertility and her
business plan about offering the service of retrieving and freezing young women s eggs to beat the
biological clock for the future use. Her business idea was to offer the service of combining the best of
class science, service, and storage of the eggs.
Finding the Idea
After several years of studying and then working to gain experience, women tend to prefer first being
successful in their job and build a career and delay parenthood until they are a older (Wilkie, 1981). A
study from the New York Post showed that about 43 % of women with higher education between 33

Of course it is very good that nowadays there is the possibility to freeze your eggs, but how can the
best scientist and the best clinic help when your target group doesn t know you. Additionally, as the
target group are educated women in their twenties, they are most likely still at university or in bigger
cities. So showing presence there and to educational work would be a good idea.
Dealing with Competitors
As this was a fast moving business and the topic of freezing eggs wasn t new to competitors, Jones
knew that she had to act fast. Her goal was to become leader in this industry including the scientific,
service, storage, marketing and education aspect. With working closely with the scientific leaders,
building exclusive strategic partnerships within the industry and being the only company with an FDA
approved egg freezing science, Jones wanted to make sure that she is and stays market leader in this
industry. Though, it might have been very hard to be the only company receiving exclusive rights for
FDA approval. When fulfilling the regulations, also other companies can be FDA approved (FDA,
2009). Additionally, a market analysis regarding other fertility centers and their plans for the future
would be helpful. There, new opportunities for alliances might come up. Also, sharing studies and
improving the procedure could be a possible side effect when working with other organizations. There
were also other companies on the market with the idea of

British Airways ( Ba ) Debacle Occurred
The British Airways (BA) Debacle occurred because the management team planned and implemented
a swipe card system which would allow management to use staff more efficiently and to record
employees start and end time for each work day. However, the staff was not involved in the decision
which led to a strike (Palmer, Dunford, Akin, 2009). Wildcat strike key issues
Organizational Development The purpose of the change process was to provide the efficient use of
staff and resources. British Airways Senior management s approach to change was planning and
having the operational level implement policies that affected the employees without employee input.
Using the organizational development approach a key issue was employee involvement, the more
involved in the change process members of the organization are the more likely they will be to
accepting the change. The lack of employee involvement caused the employees to rebel and strike.
Sense making
Sense making approach shows how change is interpreted and received by those involved in the
change. British Airways Senior management and employees interpreted and received the change
differently. Using the sense making approach the key issue was opposing interpretation and reception.
Management viewed the change as a positive way of improving efficiency and were not aware of any
other interpretations of the change. The change was interpreted as negative by the staff, because the
staff felt the new systems was a

The War Of Secret Intelligence
In the Revolutionary War, much of the action went on behind the scenes. Most Americans have a
general knowledge of the Revolutionary War, and the United States founding fathers. After all, it is the
American Heritage, and rather new in contrast to those of most comparable nations. However, there is
a large portion of this history that is almost entirely unknown the war behind the war. The war of
secret intelligence. The Revolutionary War was the birth of a new nation, and the birth of secret
intelligence use. George Washington is given the credit for this development by most officials. Along
with the use of spies, we also have the beginning of ciphers and coding in warfare. The beginning of
this nation was the beginning of many institutions still essential to our society today. The Start of the
Intelligence War George Washington and Secret Intelligence Washington s Six Unfortunately, along
with the beginning of American secret intelligence, came the same form Great Britain. In fact, despite

Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism And Christianity Comparison
Practices of Hinduism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Christianity Comparison
Hinduism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Christianity developed centuries ago and have been
practiced since then to today. Groups of people who practice these religions are bound to the
conventional norms, beliefs, cultures and way of life of each. Each religion has a particular faith in a
supreme being (Woodhead, Partridge Kawanami, 2016). Muslims believe in Allah, Christians believe
in Jesus Christ, Hindus believe in multiple Gods (Coomaraswamy, 2011) and Buddhism follower s
belief in various Gods and their enlightened priests especially the most high priests Buddha Almond,

Lama, no rituals, Gods or Priests (Kurien, 2007). To the common Christian religion, the members of
the clergy include the priests, preachers, Bishops, and Popes. In the Islamic religion, they are referred

role in ensuring the religion spreads and that people learn the doctrines of the faith.
Contrast
Hinduism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Christianity developed among different groups in the
world. Hinduism developed in the 19th century in Indonesia by the people of Hindu (Woodhead,
Partridge Kawanami, 2016). Islam was born off the people of Umma who were tied together by the
Islamic religion. Christians trace its root in the Jewish community in Middle East who follow the
teachings of Jesus Christ the son of their most supreme being God and Buddhism was founded by
Siddhartha Gautama in India (Woodhead, Partridge Kawanami, 2016).

Compare And Contrast Canadian Culture Vs American Culture
Canadas s culture is in many ways very similar to our culture in the United States. This in part due to
our proximity to one another. However despite the similarities of our two countries there is some very
distinct differences between the two. We as Americans make several misconceptions about the large
country to our north, which are made out of ignorance. Such as the Title of this essay. In this essay I
will provide you with some brief history about Canada and its establishment. As well as elaborate on
many key characteristics, holidays and demographics of that make up what it is to be a Canadian. The
name Canada is derived from the word Kanata which translates to Village in the Iroquois language.

The largest ethnic demographic of the Canadian population are either English Canadian or French
Canadian, making up a staggering 80% of the population of Canada. Most of the French Canadians
located mostly in Quebec can trace their lineage back to the first French colonial families. After whiles
the second largest ethnic group is Asians. Making up four percent of the population many of these
people migrated to Canada for their willingness to work for low pay in dangerous conditions for the
construction of the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Blacks make up three percent of the population and are
Canada s largest minority. Many of these people are fairly recent immigrant families from Africa or
the Caribbean, but there is a small minority of black Canadians that can trace their roots to the
millions of African Slaved imported during the era of the Slave trade. Canada has taken the stance that
everyone is equal, and because of this multi culturalism has thrived within the large country over the
past 4 decades. Their brand of multiculturalism does not impose a burden to assimilate into idealized
norms of what a Canadian is. The country which was once 97% white back in 1981, It now welcomes
roughly 300,000 immigrants a year 80% of those are non white immigrants. Of course there is still
some level discrimination and social tension caused between the multiple cultures that inhabit Canada,

Ambiguity In Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown
Literary translation seeks to recreate an original work in a new language using the tools available in
the target language. In order to recreate a story, the translator must first interpret its meaning. This
proves to be a challenge as the nature of literary works is such that they often lend themselves to
multiple interpretations, either due to deliberate or unintentional ambiguity in the text. In the case of
Nathaniel Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown, the author crafted a complex story filled with
ambiguity. What are, then, translators to do when faced with the momentous task of translating an
important piece of American literature like Young Goodman Brown? They must undoubtedly turn to
literary criticism, which seeks to produce in depth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the translator is unaware of the multifunctionality of the name, he or she will not be able to recreate
it in the target text. If Goodman is kept in the original English, the target audience might perceive it as
a first name. Furthermore, the repetition of the word good in the language understood by the reader
will be lost, and so the irony will not be reinforced every time the word Goodman is encountered. In
Spanish, for example, translating Goodman as buen hombre (good man), which is a form of address
used for a kind and honest man, would allow the character to be every man, as he would bear no first
name. Furthermore, by allowing readers to have access to the repetition of the word good in their
language, they are being granted the opportunity to find the sense of irony for themselves.
The Puritan preoccupation with Good and Evil manifested itself in the religion s condemnation of
witchcraft. Hawthorne uses uncountable references to witchcraft and its association with sexuality,
debauchery and carnal abandon (Hoffman 163). One example of sexual imagery comes from the
speech of the sable figure leading the witch s sabbath in the forest. The figure uses the words bed
chamber, stain, blood, penetrate, bosom, and sin to talk about man s evil

He goes to the core of the model minority assumption, and shows the reader how the media heavily
influences these ideas. He shows how cultural patterns within the Asian American society fuel these
ideas. Chang uses very interesting ways of presenting evidence by putting quotes within his piece

Afghanistan American Culture
In this Paper my goal is to analyze the culture of Afghanistan and provide cultural awareness of the
region. But what is culture? Culture, as defined by Webster s Dictionary, is the arts and manifestations
of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively . However, is that really what defines a
culture? Or is there more depth to the matter altogether? The characteristics of culture are learned,
shared, symbols, integrated, and dynamic. Essentially, culture is learned; it is not something we are
born with. It is also shared, meaning that collectively as a society we practice social norms; which
enables us to generally predict another s behavior. Symbols have meaning and that meaning is
derivative of the culture that we are exposed to. The swastika, for instance, is an ancient symbol that is
sacred in Hinduism and Buddhism but in western culture represents Nazi Germany. Culture is
integrated, various aspects of culture are all interwoven in some way. Dynamic, culture is an ever
changing entity; through travel the media, and interaction with other nations, cultures are constantly
influencing one another.
Afghanistan is diverse with many different regions and beliefs. However, the country as a whole is

In asymmetric encryption the public key can be distrusted to anybody while the private key which is

mathematically paired in order to be able to encrypt and decrypt messages. Because they are
mathematically paired, asymmetric encryption can work in both directions, where a message can be
encrypted and decrypted with a public or private key, and encrypted and decrypted by the
corresponding key. There are several disadvantages to using asymmetric encryption, some of which
include that it is slow compared to symmetric encryption and the loss of the private key is an
irreversible and unreplaceable action. Despite these disadvantages, the advantages of asymmetric
encryption are its convenience in providing a solution for the distribution of the key found in
symmetric encryption, and the combination of public and private keys provides us a method of

Exile In Early Modern Europe
Exile has played an important part in the story of Early Modern Europe, and in regards to England, it
can be said to have bookmarked a large section of the dynastic period. The period began with Henry
Tudor returning from exile to become king while at the far end James II taking flight into exile after
the Glorious Revolution. In the middle of this time, exile is again demonstrated by Charles II
managing escape abroad during the Civil War, returning in the restoration of 1660. With this in mind
though it seems major elements in the history of the Catholic diaspora were neglected in studies of the
Reformation, with previous research undertaken as being as Geert Janssen describes piecemeal and
antiquarian in nature . Research tended to focus

The film Minority Report depicts a society in the near future where an organization implements pre

shared by most dystopian works are present in the film. In a dystopian society the people are often
controlled by a strict government, but in this case it is a corporation that closely watches over the
people in order to find crimes that are going to happen and prevent them. Like many dystopian

Anti-Semitism In Ww2
Desmond Tutu once said, if you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the
oppressor. The United States of America knew about the atrocities being committed in World War II,
and still did nothing. America is complicit in the deaths of all those we turned away. When the St.
Louis brought us Germany s huddled masses yearning to breathe free, we turned away, dooming so
many souls on that ship. But why? Are we not a nation created by immigrants fleeing persecution?
The cold, hard truth of the matter is that the United States let six million people die because of
institutionalized anti semitism, which impacted the economic crisis and isolationist policy within the
government.
In 1883 Emma Lazarus wrote upon the Statue of Liberty give me your tired, your poor, your huddled
masses yearning to breathe free. Apparently, in the 1930s, unless they re Jews was added in fine print.
Of course, anti semitism in the United States was nothing new, especially in cities. Jewish people were
banned from hotels, businesses, and even beaches. It was perfectly legal for someone to be fired
because he or she was Jewish. That is why, when Hitler came to power, America did not even flinch.
In fact, many Americans rallied behind his intense nationalist policies. Organizations sprung up in ...

Persuasive Essay On Donald Trumps
There are any reasons why hillary clinton should have won. Im am going to state only a few reasons
why donald trump should have lost. Hillary even won the popular vote and still lost the election to a
rapist a sexist and a racist. And the many other horrible things that donald trump is. Donald trump
violates a lot of the constitution not letting people have the same rights. Deporting people who are
citizens just because they look wrong to him. He s a jerk and bully he doesn t care what other people
want just what he wants. When he says he will make america great again no it should be he will make
america bad again . All he ever does is criticize people around him. He doesn t care what they think all
he cares about is himself. He goin got cause a war with someone (most likely iraq).
He s a horrible person and i don t know how he is president. Another reason that donald trump should
have won is the fact the hillary won the popular vote is crazy. That has only happened 5 times in the

Impact Of Formative Assessment On Student Learning
What is formative assessment and how does it impact on student learning?
Formative assessment is assessment for learning. It is used at the beginning of an instructional period
and during the process of instruction as teachers check for student understanding. Diagnostic tools
determine what students already know and where there are gaps and misconceptions. Formative
assessment also includes assessment as learning, where students reflect on and monitor their own
progress. The information gained guides teachers decisions in how to enhance teaching and learning.
Students will reflect on and monitor progress; this progress intern becomes assessment as learning
because it contributes to students planning for future learning goals. (Chappuis, 2009, p.4) A notable
finding of Black and Wiliam s work is that formative assessment has a disproportionately beneficial
impact on low‐achieving students. They state that, while formative assessment can help all pupils, it
yields particularly good results with low achievers by concentrating on specific problems with their
work and giving them a clear understanding of what is wrong and how to put it right The assumption
here is that formative assessment shows students that underperformance is not innate and that
improvements can be made through targeted changes (Black and Wiliam, Inside the Black Box, Op.
cit., p. 6.)
Another main attribute to meaningful classroom dialogue is the teachers ability to pitch good, thought
out and well planned questions to assist students and scaffold their learning by prompting them with
thought evoking and reflective questions, requiring the student to think. (Black Wiliam in Gardner,
2006). It must be noted that for this process to be effective, teachers need to provide students with
adequate thinking time to formulate their answers and in turn manifest their learning. Finally applying
new modes of pedagogy and significant changes in classroom practice will assist in student
understanding by having students make self assessments through their own assessment process. Self
assessment increases students sense of responsibility to learn and over time relieves teachers with less
of a responsibility to actively assess and coach students

The Success Of The British East India Company
A very profitable organization for the British, The British East India Company was successful gaining
resources within India and trading them abroad during the Seventeenth and Eighteenth centuries. One
of the main reasons for the successes of the East India Company before 1783 was their ability to
create trade monopolies in Bengal following the Battle of Plassey. Being the greatest military power in
the world allowed the British to impose these monopolies, which the East India Company and their
staff abused for massive profits. In the Battle of Plassey, Robert Clive was able to lead the British East
India Company to victory, claiming the cherished prize of Bengal. The British East India Company
were able to efficiently trade salt, saltpetre, opium, and especially silks and textiles from Bengal. The
Battle of Plassey was a marvelous victory for the British in Bengal due to their ability to freely trade
following the conflict. The British East India Company was successful in Bengal and contributed great
economic gains for the British with little resistance following the Battle of Plassey. Beginning with the
creation of the East India Company and a brief history, we can see how the British East India
Company became successful. Founded on 31 December 1600, and chartered by Queen Elizabeth, the
English company was one among several European trading ventures that sought to tap the riches of
the East . Among others, including the French and Dutch, the British wished to get

oil, some don t have any, or don t need any. The first picture says to imagine driving around in our in

all live now. The air conditioning systems no longer exist so during summer, there will not be huge
amounts of power being used. Still imagining, the author discusses what will be wearing and what we
will eat. Cotton will be consider too expensive, so recycled tinfoil and plastic will be used for
clothing. The idea of obesity will no longer be a problem, and diet plans will be mandatory. This

The Concept of Human Nature
Many philosophers described the concept of human nature differently. Hobbes believes that human
nature is very bad. He said that in the state of nature people have absolute freedom to do what they
want. That is why state of nature is the state of war, which means war of one against another. I will not
harm you if you would do not it in return. State of nature is nasty, brutish, and short. The only way to
escape state of war is to sign social contract and to join to society (Hobbes ch XV).
However not all authors think in the same way. In contrary, Rousseau claims that human nature is
good but it corrupted by society (Rousseau Book I ch 8). Rousseau claimed that people in the state of
nature is isolated from each other and live for their own sake. People have absolute freedom and they
obey only to him selves (Rousseau Book chapter 2). Rousseau also claims that natural people has not
any interest for property, law, right, and other norms of civil society. Human in the state of nature
needs only limited things as food, sleep, and sex. That is all. People confident for them and do what
they want to do. That is why people in the state of nature are not bad. They do not compete with each
other and knows their abilities and preferences. Rousseau blames civil state which corrupt people.
Living with the more talented and ambitious people contribute to greedy and lowering own confidents
(Rousseau book I ch 8). People become angry. Now they need to compete with other despite on

How Is Wisdom Presented In When Siddhartha
Wisdom is not a product of schooling, but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it. These immortal words
were spoken by one of the greatest thinking minds in recent history none other than Albert Einstein.
Many thinkers throughout history have picked up on this discrepancy between knowledge and
wisdom, despite the two words often being used interchangeably in everyday life. The divide between
knowledge and wisdom is excellently portrayed in the novel Siddhartha written by Hermann Hesse, in
which the main character Siddhartha s journey to find inner peace leads him through the theme of
wisdom and knowledge being obtained differently. In Siddhartha, many themes are presented, but the

beauty of the world and all that he has missed out on by focusing on the invisible world. He says I
want to begin my thoughts and my life with Atman and with the suffering of the world. With that,
Siddhartha sets off with a new mission: to live. Along this newfound path toward wisdom, Siddhartha
becomes acquainted with a beautiful female courtesan named Kamala. She teaches Siddhartha to revel
in the pleasures and riches of the world and he is happy, seeing the appeal of a worldly life for the first
time. Many years pass and Siddhartha becomes increasingly unhappy with his life of riches, feeling as
though he has no goals anymore. The novel goes so far as to say that slowly the disease of the soul,
which rich people have, grabbed hold of him. Siddhartha may have obtained wisdom from the
experience, but he became to immersed and lost sight of the reasons he sought a lavish life in the first
place. Through this extended path of worldliness, Siddhartha began to focus too heavily on gaining the
wisdom that comes with the suffering of the world. He forgot all about the knowledge he had

Artist Public Appearance Agreement Essay
The topic I picked for this research paper is Artist Public Appearance Agreement . In this research
paper, I will be explaining the process leading up to retaining the artist for the performance or
appearance and what the agreement could entail. Such things as selecting the artist to the workings of
the contract with the artist or artist s manager.
First, we need to start from where agreement comes into place. As a concert producer, you need to
think about selecting a artist or artists for the performance. Also the date in which you wish to have
the artist make the appearance. You will need to pick a date that will give you enough time to work out

Percentage fees ( fees plus percentage of net income) can be a bit more multifaceted. While flat fees
are relatively simple while a set figure will be the amount paid to the artist to matter what. Many artist
with their own contract will include such things as hospitality, a technical rider, fees, payments, the
way the payments should be made, and the policy regarding cancellations or any type of rain dates.
Frequently, the contract determination will be dependent on the budget and its approval. This is where
all percentage sums of net income come into play with the indenture. The advantage of having a
contract would be to avoid any form of arguments, legal issues and so on that may arise. Working out
all the details of the agreement can be helpful. This way you will be able to spot light any problem
issues that may come up. By doing this you will be able to fix any problems before they occur,
possibly ruining your event. Also any modification to a contract should be reviewed n signed by both
parties to ensure smoothness. Different states can also have many different laws pertaining to
performance agreements, and you must abide by all these regulations or you run the risk of being shut
down. California law stipulates that if the terms of a contract last for more than one year, the contract
must be in writing. A performance agreement– an agreement between a performer

It s simply too depressing. Today s news stories are explicit enough to make adults cringe, leaving
children staggering. Images of injured, suffering, and the deceased often fill our television sets with
reality violence. The news, however, is not the only type of media violence affecting children.
Even family oriented cartoons such as the Looney Tunes starring household names such as Bugs
Bunny, Wildie Coyote, and the Road Runner portray a lot of violence. Unfortunately, these types of
violence are often rewarded with a laugh. While it may be comedic to adults, children are witnessing
acts of violence that happen without punishment. Many of these acts of violence would leave a person
greatly injured or dead, but in the cartoons the character on the screen is unaffected and ready to try
again in the next scene or segment. This clearly is not reality. Children do not have the ability and
understanding to grasp fictional television and reality.
Even as children grow out of cartoons, they are still entertained by violence. I grew up watching the

Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies
William Golding uses many objects and characters in his story, Lord of the Flies , to develop and
symbolize certain aspects of his story. Lord of the Flies is a story that contrasts good with evil. The
story shows how a society without any set up regulations, develop and grow into a civilization. The
novel shows this by placing a group of young boys on an island with no parents. These pre adolescents
give us an inside look at our inner desires and inclinations. Throughout this story, William uses many
distinct symbols to move his story along and show some of the hidden messages. The author not only
places symbols throughout the book, but he makes the symbols dynamic. Throughout the Novel the
symbols are constantly changing. This brings a new perspective to the story. Through the changing
symbols we can gain a vast understanding of the plot and the sequence of the events in the story. With
the help of dynamic symbols such as the conch, fire, and the island, we can interrupt the islands
society in a new light.
Power was a main theme in The Lord of the Flies . It was mainly represented by the conch that Ralph
was always in possession of. In the beginning of the Novel, it was a representation of power. On the
island, if you wanted to speak, you had to be holding the conch. Meetings were also called by the
conch. The power of the conch shell is seen when all the...boys vote for Ralph because he blew the

In the novel Beyond Fundamentalism: Confronting Religious Extremism in the Age of Globalization,
Reza Aslan argues that the war on terror is a cosmic war. Many people studying the issue make the
terrible mistake of overlooking the purpose of the radical jihadist groups located in the Middle East,
such as Al Qaeda and ISIS. Aslan states that although they present a frightening image by hurting and
killing infidels , one of their main purposes is to educate the world on their religious values/goals and

religion. Innocent people of both American and Middle Eastern countries are suffering throughout the
struggle of war. We cannot minimize these actions nor justify them in the name of god, whom many

Silent Words in Art
The Magdalen with a smoking flame is an art piece that was done by George De La Tour in 1640.
De La Tour painted this work using oil and paint on a material known as canvas. This painting was
created in France then it was moved to the one of the most respected museums of the Los Angeles
county Museum of art. The size of the painting is 128cm by 94cm, by looking at this painting the
elements that were used are very noticeable the texture in this work gives it a very smooth and rough
feel at the same time. Looking at the painting Magdalen is sitting vertically in this painting and so is
the flame . The value of this art piece is stands out as we can see all the light that illuminates
Magdalen and part of the wall. You can also see that Mary Magdalen is thinking of something that is
unknown to us. All of the objects in the painting including the, Skull, Book, lamp, and lighting of the
candle make up the unity of this image, to better identify what Mary may be thinking as she meditates
on the flame. In this painting the light is what calls the attention to the art. Magdalen is an actual
character that was drawn from the bible as she sitting in solitude and gazing into a simple flame lamp
(Louvre, de Musee Paris).
This painting is a very religious work of art because the skull symbolizes the suffering of Jesus Christ.
De

uses the color to show the depth of an emotion. Kandinsky is more of a composer than an artist,
simply because it composes his painting rather than painting them. No color has its own meaning.
When colors are mixed together, they create a meaning together. Kandinsky lets the energy of one
color to flow from one to another.
For instance, the color blue next to green creates an entirely different feeling inside a person rather
than when placed next to red. It is a composition of colors and textures on a canvas. Kandinsky s
paintings have given a new meaning to music to the deaf viewers. For a person, who has never heard
of music, Kandinsky s painting will be a life changing experience.
Kandinsky did almost 30 preparatory drawings but it is so stunning to learn that after all the
preparatory exercises, he executed the painting in less than four days. The preparatory of this painting
includes fifteen other variants. And the variants include drawings, water colors, wood cuts, and oil
paintings on the related themes. It is said
Wassily Kandinsky Composition VII 4 that, Kandinsky s composition VII is a combination of the

painting.
According to Kandinsky music is an ultimate teacher ... a concept that imposed on his first seven of

How Personal Responsibility Will Lead to My Success Essay
How Personal Responsibility Will Lead to My Success
Personal responsibility means to me holding yourself accountable for not only the successes in your
life but also your downfalls. If a person can do this they will not only be successful in their education
but in their careers and life in general. Even though some people who lack personal responsibility do
just fine in life, personal responsibility will lead to my success in and beyond school because it gives
me the confidence to succeed, and will lead to a better life for my family and me.
Now as to my approach for this paper I am writing this essay according to The Descriptive Essay
(2011), The descriptive essay is a genre of essay that asks the student to describe an object, ... Show

Personal responsibility also gives myself no one else, or anything else to blame for my short comings
when my procrastination comes up to bite me in the butt. Procrastination is still a major factor I am
working on improving day to day. It has always been something that I have had to make a conscious
effort to avoid and improve upon. If I am able to conquer that downfall I believe there is nothing that
will be able to stop me in gaining my degree and moving onto a career that I will love to do. Another
effect of being personally responsible is that it will lead to success in my career. The first thing that
will contribute to this is that personally responsibility will have led to my success in school giving
myself a foundation to succeed in my career of choice. The tools that it taught me in school can also
be implemented in the work place. Being able to utilize these same methods that helped in school are
an invaluable tool to also being able to succeed in the workplace, not only in getting a job, but
maintaining a job and moving up within the chosen career path. Lastly personal responsibility will
allow me to better provide for my family giving us a better life. All my previous points about being
personally responsible in school and work all lead into this final point that it will give my family and
myself a better more secure life. Now some people in this world lack personal responsibility and do
just fine, but what is the

  • 2. Essay on Dietary Factors in Preventing Heart Disease Dietary Factors in Preventing Heart Disease As coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death in the UK, more attention should be paid to preventing the disease. Many patients suffering from heart disease realise that it was mainly caused by their diet. Research has shown that elevated levels of LDL cholesterol are associated with increased risk of heart disease. Studies indicate that for every 1% elevation in the bad cholesterol there is a 2% increase in risk of heart disease (A leaflet on heart disease.) Continually it has been proved that a low fat, high fibre diet rich in unrefined complex carbohydrates helps lower the risk of heart disease and improve general heart ... (www.benecol.co.uk/howben cont.html) All Benecol foods contain plant stanol ester, a unique ingredient derived from plants that has the ability to work with your body to actually lower blood cholesterol when eaten as part of a healthy diet. Benecol has a range of foods that are easy to include in your diet, e.g. yoghurts, cheeses and spreads. These I have noticed are readily available in shops and are not out of reach of a reasonable budget. Benecol foods taste no different to your ordinary foods. Once you start eating benecol foods regularly, your cholesterol levels may begin to fall within 1 to 2 weeks (www.benecol.co.uk) Benecol does have one downfall, if you stop eating it, the cholesterol your blood ... • 5. Research Paper On William The Conqueror Duke of Normandy, William the First: Conqueror or Bastard? William the Conqueror: a powerful man who was taking what was rightfully his, or an illegitimate son thirsty for power, only history can tell if his actions were an act of justice. This debate contains a lot of confusion between promises, traditions overlapping, the support of the people, and proven powerful enough to rule. After understanding the conflicts at the time, history has proven that William the Conqueror proved to have a legitimate claim to the throne, much more than his competition at the time. In order to understand history, we have to look back and see how we got to this point, starting with the set up for this situation. To understand William, we have to understand his life. William was born in 1027 to Robert I, Duke of Normandy, by his concubine Arlette, a tanner s daughter from the town of Falaise as an illegitimate son (History.com Staff). This is one of the many factors that came to debate later on as he tries to take the throne since he was born out of an affair. Native Americans past and present continue to face stifling issues such as racism, alcoholism, isolation and suicide. Sherman Alexie makes it his obligation in his stories and poems to show Native American resiliency through humor. By using his characters to show resiliency through humor Alexie presents humor as an integral part of Native American survival. In Sherman Alexie s best work to date The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fist Fight in Heaven humor allows his characters to display strength, hide weakness, to expose prejudice, avoid realities and to create bonds (Coulombe, 94). I believe Alexie s humor engages readers creating positive connections between individuals of diverse backgrounds and disrupts tension between racial communities. Humor is often defined by its fluidity, its paradoxes and its ability to surprise (Coulombe, 95). Humor teaches self knowledge and social awareness. Alexie s use of humor encourages readers to think anew by creating a space of shared inquiry and reciprocal empathy. Many believe his play to humor and writing betrays Indian people by presenting them as clichés to be laughed person s name says hey while other persona says he Avoiding to educate white readers and re instill cultural pride in Indian readers he actively works against such goals with his humor . In order to recreate a story, the translator must first interpret its meaning. If the translator is unaware of the multifunctionality of the name, he or she will not be able to recreate it in the target text. If Goodman is kept in the original English, the target audience might perceive it as a first name. Furthermore, the repetition of the word good in the language understood by the reader will be lost, and so the irony will not be reinforced every time the word Goodman is encountered. In Spanish, for example, translating Goodman as buen hombre (good man), which is a form of address used for a kind and honest man, would allow the character to be every man, as he would bear no first name. Furthermore, by allowing readers to have access to the repetition of the word good in their language, they are being granted the opportunity to find the sense of irony for themselves. The Puritan preoccupation with Good and Evil manifested itself in the religion s condemnation of witchcraft. Hawthorne uses uncountable references to witchcraft and its association with sexuality, debauchery and carnal abandon (Hoffman 163). Culture, as defined by Webster s Dictionary, is the arts and manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively . However, is that really what defines a culture? Or is there more depth to the matter altogether? The characteristics of culture are learned, shared, symbols, integrated, and dynamic. Essentially, culture is learned; it is not something we are born with. It is also shared, meaning that collectively as a society we practice social norms; which enables us to generally predict another s behavior. Symbols have meaning and that meaning is derivative of the culture that we are exposed to. • 26. Impact Of Formative Assessment On Student Learning What is formative assessment and how does it impact on student learning? Formative assessment is assessment for learning. It is used at the beginning of an instructional period and during the process of instruction as teachers check for student understanding. Diagnostic tools determine what students already know and where there are gaps and misconceptions. Formative assessment also includes assessment as learning, where students reflect on and monitor their own progress. The information gained guides teachers decisions in how to enhance teaching and learning. Students will reflect on and monitor progress; this progress intern becomes assessment as learning because it contributes to students planning for future learning goals. (Chappuis, 2009, p.4) A notable finding of Black and Wiliam s work is that formative assessment has a disproportionately beneficial impact on low‐achieving students. They state that, while formative assessment can help all pupils, it yields particularly good results with low achievers by concentrating on specific problems with their work and giving them a clear understanding of what is wrong and how to put it right The assumption here is that formative assessment shows students that underperformance is not innate and that improvements can be made through targeted changes (Black and Wiliam, Inside the Black Box, Op. cit., p. 6.) Another main attribute to meaningful classroom dialogue is the teachers ability to pitch good, thought out and well planned questions to assist students and scaffold their learning by prompting them with thought evoking and reflective questions, requiring the student to think. (Black Wiliam in Gardner, 2006). It must be noted that for this process to be effective, teachers need to provide students with adequate thinking time to formulate their answers and in turn manifest their learning. Finally applying new modes of pedagogy and significant changes in classroom practice will assist in student understanding by having students make self assessments through their own assessment process. Self assessment increases students sense of responsibility to learn and over time relieves teachers with less of a responsibility to actively assess and coach students ... In the Battle of Plassey, Robert Clive was able to lead the British East India Company to victory, claiming the cherished prize of Bengal. The British East India Company were able to efficiently trade salt, saltpetre, opium, and especially silks and textiles from Bengal. The Battle of Plassey was a marvelous victory for the British in Bengal due to their ability to freely trade following the conflict. • 29. The Concept of Human Nature Many philosophers described the concept of human nature differently. Hobbes believes that human nature is very bad. He said that in the state of nature people have absolute freedom to do what they want. That is why state of nature is the state of war, which means war of one against another. I will not harm you if you would do not it in return. State of nature is nasty, brutish, and short. The only way to escape state of war is to sign social contract and to join to society (Hobbes ch XV). However not all authors think in the same way. In contrary, Rousseau claims that human nature is good but it corrupted by society (Rousseau Book I ch 8). Rousseau claimed that people in the state of nature is isolated from each other and live for their own sake. People have absolute freedom and they obey only to him selves (Rousseau Book chapter 2). Rousseau also claims that natural people has not any interest for property, law, right, and other norms of civil society. Human in the state of nature needs only limited things as food, sleep, and sex. That is all. People confident for them and do what they want to do. That is why people in the state of nature are not bad. They do not compete with each other and knows their abilities and preferences. Rousseau blames civil state which corrupt people. Today s news stories are explicit enough to make adults cringe, leaving children staggering. Images of injured, suffering, and the deceased often fill our television sets with reality violence. Even family oriented cartoons such as the Looney Tunes starring household names such as Bugs Bunny, Wildie Coyote, and the Road Runner portray a lot of violence. Unfortunately, these types of violence are often rewarded with a laugh. While it may be comedic to adults, children are witnessing acts of violence that happen without punishment. Many of these acts of violence would leave a person greatly injured or dead, but in the cartoons the character on the screen is unaffected and ready to try again in the next scene or segment. When colors are mixed together, they create a meaning together. Kandinsky lets the energy of one color to flow from one to another. For instance, the color blue next to green creates an entirely different feeling inside a person rather than when placed next to red. It is a composition of colors and textures on a canvas. Kandinsky s paintings have given a new meaning to music to the deaf viewers. For a person, who has never heard of music, Kandinsky s painting will be a life changing experience.
