 The Latin verb communicare means “to
make common to many, share, impart,
divide.”

3. Simply stated . . .
Communication
is the sharing of meaning by
sending
and receiving
symbolic cues.

 Self-talk or thinking and
refers to the ways we
communicate with
ourselves.

meaning through verbal and non-verbal
messages.
 “inter-” which means among/between.

1) Verbal communication
refers to the use of symbols in the form of spoken
words to transmit messages.
2) Non-verbal communication
use of symbols other than words to transmit
messages. It includes gestures, body language
and how we utter words.
