2. From my survey, the
majority of responses were
between 16 and 20 years of
age. Despite this I will
make my target audience
between 18-21 year olds.
People of these ages
usually have more money
than people younger, as
they will be working, and
therefore they will be able
to spend more money on my
music magazine!
3. Looking at this result, I can
see that the majority of
people do not want to spend
much on magazine, up to £5 at
most. Over half of people on
spend up to £2 on their
magazines.
From my research of current
music magazines, I’ve found
that music magazines are
usually priced at between £2£4, which will be what my
music magazine will be priced
at.
4. Out of 42 people, nearly three
quarters of them don’t read
music magazines. This is a good
sign because it means there is
a definite gap in the market
for a new music magazine that
is different and unique from
the mainstream magazines.
This is also a bad sign, as it
could mean that not many people
from my target audience will
read my magazine, however this
is only a small sample size of
42, so cannot represent my
whole audience.
5. The most common release
dates are weekly and
monthly, with 6 people on
each choice. From this, I
will release my music
magazine monthly, as this
is the traditional
convention as I have
analysed from my research
on current magazines.
6. Over 90% of responses are
interested in finding out
about new music! This is
good, as I want to make my
magazine an unsigned artist
magazine dedicated to new
music from the acts.
7. Nearly three quarters of
responses are interested
in finding out about
unsigned artists! This is
good, as I want to make
my magazine an unsigned
artist magazine dedicated
to new music from the
acts. This also means I
can construct a double
page spread on an
unsigned artist and I
know that my target
audience will be engaged
and want to read about
it.
8. The main features that
attract people to a
magazine are the content
(which I will make clear
by using bold cover
lines), cover model and
colour. Little people are
concerned with freebies
of reviews. My music
magazine will include an
attractive and eye
catching cover model,
with lots of colour to
make it bold. Hopefully
this will attract my
audience.
9. The majority of people
listen to pop and indie
music most regularly.
With rock and reggae
coming in seconds. Due
to my music magazine
being all about unsigned
acts, I will try to
incorporate pieces about
all genres of music but
mainly focusing on indie
rock music.
10. 80.95% of people go to
gigs and festivals.
From this, I know I
can incorporate
articles about
upcoming gigs and
festivals and reviews,
as I know that my
audience can relate.
11. 80.95% of people
