1. Questionnaire results
From my questionnaire I did on survey monkey, I have found out that my
target audience for my magazine may be people aged between 16-20 years of
age. I have found out that only half of the people who have completed my
survey regularly buy music magazines. Those people, who do buy music
magazines, usually tend to buy them monthly or yearly, as I have got a result of
61.3% for monthly and 21.1% for those who buy music magazines yearly. They
don’t regularly buy music magazines on a weekly basis as I have got a result of
only 5.3% for those who would buy them weekly.
The most popular genre of music shown in my results would be rock with
63.2% followed by indie (52.6%) and then pop (37.4%) as a result of this I have
chosen to do my magazine based on rock/indie music, I will make a magazine
similar to NME or Kerrang.
I have found out that most people look for certain information in a music
magazine, such as chart updates, downloads, tour dates, interview, reviews
and information about bands/artists and gigs. I will try to include as many of
these features as possible in my magazine to make it more appealing for my
target audience. The audience usually tend to expect all of these features to be
found in any successful music magazine.
I have found that there have been a variety of answers for what the audience
would like to see on the front cover, but the most common answer would be,
artists related to the magazine, quotes from interviews and a small amount of
information about the contents of the magazine. I have also found that most
people would like to see a mixture of both male and female artists on the front
cover of the magazine, instead of just male or female.
The price that I have concluded would be most suitable for the magazine,
would be £2-£3 as 78.9% of people have suggested that it would be a suitable
price to pay for the magazine. Although, someone had stated that the price of
the magazine should depend on the quality of the magazine, and its content,
which I have taken into consideration and I will therefore try to get my
magazine and its content to a high quality standard.
