• A good coach needs to master:
  – Listening
     • Language, tone, tempo, volume, inflections
  – Observing
     • Body language, gestures, eye movement
  – Questioning
     • What, Where, Why, How, When, Who, Which
  – Self-awareness
     • Awareness of their values, beliefs, interests, agendas –
       achieving a none judgemental state
  – Building rapport
     • Trust and commitment

•   What would you like to happen?
•   What is your insight about this?
•   What does it mean to you?
•   How would you like it to be?
•   What can you see/think/feel?
•   What will this give you?
•   Can you say what you want in one sentence?

• Describe/explain where you are now with this?
• How important is this to you?
• What impact is this having on you?
• What doe this tell you about yourself?
• What will you do differently?
• What do you know now that you didn’t know
  before?
• If an ideal situation is 10, where are you now?
• If you new X what would be your next step?

Options
• What has worked well in the past?
• What steps can you take?
• If there was something else you could do,
  what would it be?
• How can this be broken down?
• What else could you do?

Way forward
•   How will you do that?
•   When will you do that?
•   Who do you need to involve?

•   How confident are you on a scale of 1 to 10?
•   Can you commit to that?

  in 5 years time. Imagine who you’re with
  where you are and what you are doing.

  time reminding yourself what you are
  doing and how you got there.
