Contributions Of The Roman Aqueducts

Roman Aqueduct Before the Roman aqueduct was engineered, the ancient Roman people depended on
local water such as rainwater, springs, streams, well water and stored in cisterns or container. The
water quality were a daily problem of the Romans, and the droughts and drainage problems were even
deadly. The engineering s curiosity that implemented the rise of the Roman Empire and sustained the
water solution. The Roman aqueducts were not all engineered by Roman inventions; the architects
used the Greek designs like the columns and arches by the Etruscans. The aqueducts were built from a
sequence of brick, stone, and special volcanic cement. The aqueducts were very important to the
ancient Romans and profoundly impact their daily living. Ancient Roman aqueducts were constructed
to carry water from far away springs and mountains into the cities. From 311 B.C. to 226 A.D., the
Romans had built eleven significant aqueducts around Roman Empire. The water would supply the
city s fountains, gardens, public baths, bathroom, and a house of wealthy Roman. The water from the
aqueducts also was used to irrigate lands, to power mills and other machines used in mining. The first
Roman aqueduct is called Aqua Appia, assigned by the member of the Senate named Appius Claudius
Caecus in 312 B.C., and Rome became the early civilization to used water so extensively in its cities.
The Aqua Appia depended on a spring ten miles from

Year Round Schooling Essay
Year Round Schooling The education system in the United States is an ever evolving institution. As a
country we have progressed from one room schoolhouses, to segregated classrooms, to online learning
environments. Congress is constantly passing legislation to better our public school systems and
minimize costs to taxpayers. Individual states have also implemented various new systems to try and
maximize their education potential. One such alternative is year round schooling. Year round
schooling has become increasingly popular over the past few decades and is still a rapidly growing
trend.
Year round schooling is defined as the reorganization of the traditional nine month calendar so that

While one group is on break, the rest of the groups are in school, and they continue to rotate so that as
many students as possible can attend. In a four track school district, student capacity is increased by
33%. In an extended year system, the required number of days that children must attend school is
increased from 180 to up to 240.
There is also another calendar alternative that can be implemented in school systems: school wide and
school within a school calendars. In a school wide calendar, all of the students follow the same
yearlong schedule. But in the school within a school calendar, half of the students are on a yearlong
calendar and the other half are on the traditional nine month calendar. This type of system has been
implemented in several school districts in North Carolina.
Some schools (such as Timber Lane school in Virginia) that follow yearlong calendars also offer
classes during the intercession breaks. These classes can be voluntary for students who want to get
ahead or learn a new or interesting skill, or they can be mandatory for students who struggle and need
the time to catch up on the material learned during the year. Regardless of the reason for attending,
both teachers and students view intercession classes as a positive aspect of the year round school
system.
There are many other reasons why year round schooling is beneficial to students. Schools that attend

Grandmother set forth these endeavors so Janie wouldn t need to hide or bow down to other children

Biochemistry Competence 208.5.1: DNA,RNA
Nicole Seegmiller Mott
Western Governors University
Abstract
This a brief written report on the role of DNA, RNA and transmission on information within a cell to
create amino acids.
Biochemistry Competence 208.5.1: DNA,RNA
DNA replication is an intricate process that requires many different proteins. Each protein preforms a
very specific function in the creation of a new DNA strand. First helicase works by unwinding or
dividing the original double helix into single stands. The point where the DNA is separated by the
helicase is known as the replication fork. Single strand binding proteins attach to the newly made
single strand of DNA to prevent re annealing. Next is the addition of an RNA ... Show more content

First adenosine monophosphate (AMP), a covalent enzyme, must be formed and linked to a lysine
enzyme. Next AMP will transfer to the 5 phosphate end of the missing section between the Okazaki
fragments. Last OH will help remove the AMP sealing the phosphate backbone together producing a
continuous DNA strand ( DNA Ligase, n.d.). A visual representation of ligase joining two Okazaki
fragments can be viewed in Figure 2.
Transcription is the formation of an RNA strand from a DNA template within the nucleus of a cell.
There are four nucleotides of DNA. These are adenine, cytosine, guanine and thymine. These
nucleotides are transcribed to form messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) consisting of nucleotides
made of adenine, cytosine, guanine and uracil. This transcription from DNA to mRNA happens by an
RNA polymerase II. This newly created mRNA is read in the 5 to 3 direction in sets of 3. These sets
are called codons. Each mRNA also has a cap and end. On the 5 prime side is a methylated guanine
triphosphate and on the 3 prime is a poly A tail. Messenger RNA then moves to the cells cytoplasm
and through the cells ribosomes for translation. Messenger RNA is matched to molecules of transfer
RNA (tRNA) in the ribosomes to create amino acids. These amino acids subsequently form an amino
acid chain. (Osuri, 2003) A visual representation of this can been viewed in figure 3.
As was just learned, RNA polymerase II is what transcribes DNA.

Ishmael Quotes
I had heard from adults that this was a revolutionary war, a liberation of the people from corrupt
government. But what kind of liberation movement shoots innocent civilians, children, that little girl?
(Beah 14) Comments on Chosen Quote: I don t know why this quote spoke to me, but it did. I find it
ironic how every time these rebellions start, the people end up getting hurt. I m not saying that you
shouldn t rebel, because sometimes it s necessary for us to progress as human beings, but it s just so
paradoxical. People often rebel for better conditions, treatment, etc., but before they get these things

The death penalty is heavily debated, with some people in favor of it and some against it. I myself am
against it because I feel like if you ve done something to deserve the death penalty, you deserve
something worse than death. I believe they should rot in jail, not just be executed and not suffer at all.
I believe the same for the current situation of the book. However, I have to remember that my country
and his country are different. Sometimes the people have to take these things into their own hands
because authority doesn t do much. Sometimes solving things with violence is their perfect answer,
like how the soldiers did when getting rid of some rebels. While that s not the method I prefer, I

3ft 4 inches (101cm) and weighs 2 stone and 3lbs (31 lbs). The average height and weight of a 3 year

She sang Humpty Dumpty , Ring of Roses and another song that her grandmother had taught her from
Nigeria. However when I asked her to do a small activity which involved small muscles she became
quite and relaxed. From both these activities that I asked her to do, It showed that she has two ways in
which she can behave; a calm way when involving fine motor skills and energetic way when
involving gross motor skills. Hilary showed her demanding and quiet jealous personality when her
younger sister would come over and try to join in with the activity that I was doing with Hilary. Her
temperamental side showed when she slouched off with her arms folded, I then had to go and
convince her to play another game so she would be happy again. Also after we had been playing for a
few hours she became a bit irritable and tired, and started to be bossy and greedy telling me that she
can do it herself . that made her become easily bored and distracted as well. By this time it was time
for me to go home, I told Hilary that I had to go so she cam and gave me a hug. That showed that even
though she was irritable and tired she was still affectionate enough to give me a hug before I went.
Family Background Hilary is one of two siblings, her younger sister is called Chanella. Hilary is 1
year and 2 weeks older than Chanella. Because there is such a small age gap between the two children
they get on very well. Hilary is like a role model to her younger

the debt capacity of state is established and then discuss and assess the effect of repaying or

According to Lee, Johnson, amp; Joyce (2008), Capital budgets assist in deciding how much of each
type of investment is necessary, and assist in evaluating available revenues (including loans) to
finance those investments.
States and most local governments do not use current revenues to pay for their capital projects. For
example, the construction of prisons, school building, or public university. These projects are usually
financed from bond revenues. The purchasers of the bond lend the funds to the states that are
necessary to finance the project. States, in turn, pledge to pay the bondholders the principal of the loan
plus a stipulated rate of return according to Gosling (2002). According to Lee, Johnson, amp; Joyce
(2008), In the United States, although some local governments borrow from banks for temporary
operating funds, the main source of debt finance is the issuance of bonds.
Determining Debt Capacity
The City of Toledo has a bond insurance practice, and funds which contains working with fiscal
working groups in planning of the Order, disclosure information, and the organizing of the bond
transactions. The City of Toledo has numerous different fund, as well as the General Fund, the Capital

Goffman Stigma
Goffman s work Stigma: Notes on the Management of Spoiled Identity (1968) shows how people
want to conform to the social norm by being normal and how this want leads to feelings of exclusion
and the sense of a social stigma. Goffman describes stigmatization as building a difference. While the
stranger is present before us, evidence can arise of his possessing an attribute that makes him different
from others in the category of persons available for him to be, and of a less desirable kinds in the
extreme, a person who is quite thoroughly bad, or dangerous, or weak. He is thus reduced in our
minds from a whole and usual person to a tainted, discounted one. Such an attribute is a stigma,
especially when its discrediting effects is vey extensive; sometimes it is also called a failing, a
shortcoming, a handicap (p. 12). This shows that the rejection from society to a person is a social
stigma. Many students with disabilities are not considered normal, which gives with a social stigma.
Having this stigma encourages conformity. Without a society, there isn t a social stigma. This
solidifies the fact that stigmas emerge from social relationships. The theory doesn t care about the
qualities and/or disabilities of the person, the theory only cares about making these qualities different
by another party (Scholarly Writers Who Use English as an Additional Language: What Can

The Wise Fools of Shakespeare
The Wise Fools of Shakespeare Infirmity that decays the wise doth ever make a better fool though
uttered by one of his own characters Shakespeare does not seem to conform to this ideal. The fools
carved by Shakespeare in his plays showed no resemblance to the mentally and physically challenged
people who were treated as pets and used for amusement during the medieval period. Rather
Shakespeare s fools appear to be in the best of their wits when they are in possession of the wisest
minds. Fools whether in their rustic vigour displaying grotesque humour or in the forms of the
sophisticated court jesters with their polished puns occupied a substantial position in his plays. Not

However the most mesmerizing of Shakespeare s fools touches his pieces in the form of the court
jesters with their precise and caustic wit fabricated by their well bred minds. These fools it is often
presumed were sketched from the models of the contemporary court jesters particularly influenced by
Tarlton and Armin the royal fools who were not only popular to the audience but also favorites of the
Queen herself. One of the foremost reasons of introduction of these jesters in his plays was to impart
them with the role of social critics in the guise of their iridescent costumes. The royal fools in spite of
their acerbic tongue that blurted out many a comment against royalty were forgiven for the obvious
reasons of those statements being wrapped under their fooleries. Thus the jesters in his plays acted as
the representatives of Shakespeare, through whom he can show a glimpse of the real face of the
contemporary society to his audience. The first professional fool who made his way into Shakespeare
s plays is Touchstone in As you Like it who is probably the most buoyant of his jesters. From his pert
speeches it can be assumed that he is serving his namesake, a touchstone giving a peek of the real
world in mid of all the dreamy romanticism. In the play upon their arriving

This could be a major factor in why the island was so heavily contested for hundreds of years; the
island is arguably a great launching point for the French Navy to attack the British. With
communication during this time period being relatively slow given the lack of modern technology, it
would have been easy for the island to be captured by the French without mainland Britain
immediately knowing. Thus, there was a great incentive on the part of the British to keep this island
well defended so as to protect it from any potential French attacks. Such an assertion can be bolstered
not only by the fact that Queen Elizabeth I decided to build a castle off the southern coast of the island
in 1594, which could have been done to provide ample protection of the south coastline, but also the
production of the map itself in 1600 which is now held by the Yale Center for British Art. There are
many features of this map that should be acknowledged. First, there are twelve parishes noted. Within

America Needs To Achieve True Freedom
Freedom is a state of mind and being in which a person has no barriers to hold them back. These
barriers can be financial, emotional, mental or physical. I think that if someone didn t have these
barriers, they don t necessarily achieve freedom, but they have the chance to. To go beyond this
though, freedom needs to first be achieved within. When someone is free in their heart and their mind,
I think they ve achieved true freedom. In short, freedom is the freedom from restraints and the
freedom to do what they please. To attain true freedom, I believe that a person should become free
from barriers first that sometimes don t seem like barriers. America is known as the land of the free ,

The more one relents to assimilating into mainstream society, the better one s class ranking becomes.
Assimilation to the white societal ideals is the key to class advancement. Not all ethnic groups
assimilate in exactly the same way or at the same speed. In Assimilation in American Life (1964),
Milton Gordon suggested that there is a typology, or hierarchy, of assimilation, thus capturing some of
the key steps ethnic groups go through . . . (Reason 1997). The absence of education keeps people
from being economically and socially integrated into the larger society and breeds alienation and
resentment of their dependence (Reason 1997).
According to the article in Reason Magazine, the absence of civic responsibility keeps them from
being involved in many crucial decisions that affect their lives and further contributes to their
alienation (Reason 1997). In the case of Sandra, she is in little control over outcomes after she
becomes involved with the dope. Events become circumstantial. She and Chink are attempting

Essay on Customer Relationship Management
Today, customer relationship management is very important to the business world. Most of the
companies established a department and the programs to manage their relationship with the customers.
Customer relationship management (CRM) is a business strategy which designed to help a company
to understand and look forward to the needs of its potential and current customers (Anderson Stang,
2000). Customer data is being collected in several different areas of the company, stored in a central
database, analyzed, and distributed to key points (Anderson Stang, 2000).The business world once

The merging of the customer data from sales and the call center interactions has created the more
informed interactions with the customer (Petersen, 2004). The concept rang with the user
organizations and mergers and acquisitions created a host of software that the vendors claimed to have
an integrated set of capabilities that became known as customer relationship management (Petersen,
2004). Companies wanted to learn more about each and every individual customer and use the
information to effectively take care of and manage their relationships, and yet increased customer
satisfaction and profit.
There are several objectives that the customer relationship management is being implemented, such as
customer identification, customer differentiation, customer interaction and personalization (Peppers,
1998). First, it is very important for a company if it able to identify its customers. Different companies
offer different products and services which may not satisfy all customers. The costs and efforts of
acquiring new customers can be reduced and focused when the company finds out the customers who
are its potential customers. For example, e mail distribution or mailing services can be used if the
company has the customers profile. Next, the company can use the services to differentiate its
products with others. The company may sell or provide the similar products with the other

Practicing Professionalism
Professionalism is the competence expected of an individual to properly execute given tasks. In dance,
it is important to introduce respect, organization, and focus as the essentials of a performer.
Establishing professional methods in class will assist others in distinguishing your dedication and
commitment to the artform. Practicing professionalism in daily performance leads to improved
performance in the future because of repetitive conduct during classes. If a dancer consistently puts
forth the effort to work hard and focus in class, they are more likely to adopt these concepts into their
everyday lifestyle and develop their talent more. Famous ballerinas such as Misty Copeland and

Social Media Satire
A rhetoric for contemplation; what is social media s magnitude that encompasses an individual s
everyday life? As the unabridged ecosphere verves on with their day to day living: from wakening out

Merton. The theory states that social structures may pressure citizens to commit crimes. Strain may be
structural, which refers to the processes at the societal level that filter down and affect how the
individual perceives his or her needs. Strain may also be individual, which refers to the frictions and

of strain can insinuate social structures within society that then pressure citizens to become criminals.
Merton believed that there are certain goals which are strongly emphasized by society, society
emphasizes certain means to achieve those goals (such as education, hard work, etc.) however not

The point of view of tradition in The Lottery by Shirley Jackson is the normal once of year gathering
on the townspeople. This gathering is held in order to pick, via a lottery drawing, to decide who in the
town is going to be stoned to death. The people of the village began to gather in the square, between
the post office and the bank, around ten o clock; in some towns there were so many people the lottery
took two days and had started on June 26th, but in this village, where there were only about three
hundred people, and the whole lottery took less than two hours, so it could begin at ten o clock in

Dithos And Pathos In Advertising
In society today, consumers decisions for buying products is heavily influenced by the marketing
strategies created by advertiser. The first ad presented is advertising certified pre owned BMWs, while
the second ad is marketing Lincoln MKZs. The BMW ad is targeted towards middle class people
looking for a luxury vehicle at a decent price. The Lincoln, however, is directed towards wealthy
upper class people looking for a luxury vehicle. Although the advertisements are appealing to two
different audiences, they both utilize ethos and pathos in an attempt to reach potential consumers. To
understand how advertisers attempt to influence audiences to promote a certain idea or purchase a
specific item, an explanation of the rhetorical devices used would be helpful. For that reason, the
emotional appeal, pathos, focuses on invoking an audiences emotions using elements such as humor,
sympathy, hatred, or fear (Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz 28). In addition, ethos, the character appeal,
intends to persuade an audience by establishing authority and credibility (Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz
40). While there are more rhetorical devices, ethos and pathos are the two that are prevalent in both
advertisement videos. Both seem to attempt to gain trust and invoke the audience to partake in a
specific action. To go in depth and understand the ad, one needs to know what it is exactly. The ad
consists of a man meticulously cleaning his BMW. To set the scene, soft and light piano music plays

America And The War On Terrorism
America and the War on Terrorism The War on Terror began from the attacks on the World Trade
Center in New York City, New York, the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and in Pennsylvania on
September 11, 2001 (9/11). The current president at the time was newly elected President George W.
Bush in which he gave a speech announcing the infamous War on Terror . This an on going war and its
effects are being felt today. Before knowing what the Global War on Terror looks like, it is necessary
to define the term terrorism. Terrorism, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in this case
international terrorism, is defined as the following: acts that are dangerous to human life, are

As stated by President Bush, while addressing the nation post 9/11, he explained that the, enemies of
freedom committed an act of war against our country , that this was not simply an act of aggression
rather an act of war, and so the war on terror became a reality. He later proceeds by explaining that the
War on Terror will not be waged against a country but instead it will be waged against the individual
groups regardless of their location; the United States respects the people of Afghanistan...but we
condemn the Taliban regime ( Bush Addresses the Nation). Our war on terror begins with al Qaeda,
but it does not end there. It will not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found,
stopped, and defeated , and so the war began (Bush Addresses the Nation).
The United States of America currently has a list of known, and recognized, terrorist groups, however,
the War on Terror is primarily dealing with the known terrorist groups in the Middle East where al
Qaeda is located (Foreign Terrorist Organizations). Conducting war against terrorist groups is quite
quarrelsome as they do not wear standard uniform and often dress in regular civilian clothing because
they are not affiliated with their nation s armed forces. This is what makes fighting the terrorist groups
difficult and why it has lasted for more than 14 years. Another reason fighting these groups is difficult
is because the Taliban who harbored al Qaeda were

On China By Henry Kissinger Chapter Summary
On China by Henry Kissinger
On China completely changed my view on China and how to deal with future. Before reading this
book, I believed that China was now the United States biggest adversary. Kissinger made the point
that hostile relations or treating China as a threat would make both situations worse. My thoughts on
China all revolved around one major misconception: the aspiration for world domination. Unlike the
Germans in the 1940s or the Soviets during the Cold War, China doesn t want to rule the world. The
Chinese believe that they are the Middle Kingdom. China is the center of the world and everyone else

How will the next generation deal with China? Will we see them as an ally or a threat? Kissinger s
voice is strangely clear in this book. I believe this is because he experienced much of what is written
first hand. Instead of writing based off of research, Kissinger gets to interject many of his opinions
along with observations. His writing style is quite advanced, but not in a way that confused me very
much. I only realized the difficulty of this book when reading it out loud because even though the
words were advanced, the concepts behind them were portrayed so clearly that it didn t take much
contemplating to understand them. On China was important for me to read because it changed my
view on China, Asia, and world politics in general. Kissinger revealed many important ideas that
shifted my view of China from an adversary to a nation we should cooperate with. I am now more

Magna Carta Essay
The Magna Carta, Latin for Great Paper , was written as a charter for England in 1215 (Magna 1). The
Magna Carta has had the most significant influence on modern day common law and constitutions.
The document was originally written because of disagreements between the Pope, King John, and his
English barons over the rights of the king. The Magna Carta required the king to renounce certain
rights, and to accept that the powers of the king could be bound by law (Asimov 12). There are a few
misconceptions about the Magna Carta, however. It was not the first document to attempt to limit the
power of the king. It, however, failed to limit the power of the king, especially during the Middle
Ages. The Magna Carta had been strengthened ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Tudor period, there was limited knowledge of the document, even by those who wrote
about it. In the statute books, it appeared that the Magna Carta was brought about by King Henry III,
rather than the reapplication of the original charter. The Magna Carta was first used during the Tudor
period as a Bill of Rights. The church often attempted to use the first clause of the Magna Carter to
protect itself from attacks by King Henry, but its claims had no credibility (Asimov 55). The first
person to attempt to use the Magna Carta was Francis Bacon, who asserted that it guaranteed due
process in a trial. At this time in English history, the Magna Carta was used in common law. However,
it was not seen as a set of liberties guaranteed for the people against the Crown and government in
general, but as a normal statute which gave a certain level of liberties that could not be relied on,
especially against the king. Therefore, the Magna Carta had very little effect on government in the
early Tudor period because of the power the king retained, a situation which lasted until the
Elizabethan age. During the Elizabethan age, England was becoming the most powerful force in
Europe. Pride was becoming a primary force in all areas of academics and attempts were made to
prove that Parliament had Roman origins. The Magna Carta was interpreted as an

Starbucks Managerial Functions
The purpose of this essay is to identify the relevancy of Fayol s managerial functions to the current
system of management. Management involves coordinating and overseeing the work activities of
others so that their activities are completed efficiently and effectively. Management is very important
for an organization because without an effective management it is very difficult for an organization to
succeed and perform well. A manager is a person who coordinates and oversees the work of other
people so organizational goals can be accomplished (Robbins Coulter, 2014, p. 32). The manager

This means that there must be sufficient capital, staff and raw materials so that the organization can
run smoothly and that it can build a good working structure. Two of the elements in an organizational
design will be used which is work specialization and chain of command. The breaking down of jobs
into smaller and specific jobs is work specialization (Robbins, S., 2011). The jobs at Starbucks are
highly specialized. According to (Roberts, 2015), some stores operate with a drive thru window. At
any given time, there will be four employees working to operate the drive thru window: one to take
orders, one to handle cash, one to make coffee, and another to help where needed most. Chain of
command is when any employee should receive orders from one boss only under any circumstances
(Carl A. Rodrigues, 2001:882). Looking at (TheOfficialBoard, 2015) Mr Schultz is the CEO and he
manages a team of five chief and five presidents. There are also nine senior VP s who answers to these
chiefs. The Starbucks organization structure consists of board members who make decisions with Mr
Schultz. Mr Schultz will then discuss plans with their chiefs in order to implement rules and
guidelines to successfully achieve the goals of the board. These are then passed down to the senior VP
s who implement them to the rest of the organization. It is then broken down into the regional offices
where a manager oversees the operations of 8 10 stores. Finally, each store has a manager, assistant
manager and employees. Extracted from an article, the job duty for the employees is to provide
excellent customer service while making handcrafted, quality beverages. This is the chain of
command for the Starbucks enterprises. There is a total of thirty nine executives in the Starbucks
organizational chart which is

to come for them if it is bad. Now Tiresias has been in this game for a long time, probably even dating
back farther than Creon s parents. Tiresias definitely knows what he s doing. Tiresias tells Creon of a
sight he had about Creon. It is very bad for Creon it is a sight telling of his whole family dying but
Creon doesn t want to believe it. Creon disgraces Tiresias and is very rude to him. Creon defies

A Research On Telehealth And Telemedicine Is A Tool For...
Telehealth Consultation Telehealth is becoming a widely used tool for seeking medical care, or
consultation. The world of technology we live in is ever growing, making healthcare easily accessible
through telehealth. While many different organizations define telehealth using different words, they all
have the same idea. I found in my research that telehealth and telemedicine are defined differently.
Definition
Per the healthit.gov website, telehealth is different from telemedicine, because it refers to a broader
scope of remote healthcare services than telemedicine. While telemedicine refers specifically to
remote clinical services, telehealth can refer to remote non clinical services, such as provider training,
administrative meetings, and continuing medical education, in addition to clinical services. According
to healthit.gov, the Health Resources Services Administration defines telehealth as the use of
electronic information and telecommunications technologies to support long distance clinical health
care, patient and professional health related education, public health and health administration.
Medicare defines it as Telehealth (or Telemonitoring) is the use of telecommunications and
information technology to provide access to health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, consultation,
supervision and information across distance.

Alternate Dispute Resolution For Resolving Civil Disputes
Alternate Dispute Resolution has many benefits serving as a legal substitute for resolving civil
disputes. Most courts prefer the proceedings of an ADR as oppose to Litigation. In some counties, the
option of ADR must be analyzed before attempting to initiate the proceedings of litigation. Most
district courts along with appeal courts will oversee the courts, and will resolve the remaining
disputes. Alternate Dispute Resolution is a large part of our legal system, which many citizens rely on
to settle civil disputes. ADR has been a part of US legal history since the times of the colonies.

ADR PROCEDURES
The Act lists five ADR procedures available to Texas citizens; mediation, mini trial, moderated

best fits the case and the people involved.
SETTING THE STAGE FOR ADR
The first step in preparing for an ADR proceeding is to select the type of ADR that best fits the case.
The 1987 ADR legislation lists five nonexclusive procedures above and these procedures vary in their
applicability, level of client participation and formality. Mediation, especially, is often used before the
parties file suit or even contact attorneys. Mediation and moderated settlement conferences can be

Differences Between Judaism And Judaism
Judaism has a concrete connection to the development of Christianity which has influenced the
teachings of the religion that would not be made possible without its presence. There are similarities
between the Christian faiths to Judaism from how the religions are practiced to the hymns that are
shared between the two. A primary difference is the historical background to the discovery of the
religions. Another difference would be the sacred text that are used in prayer considering Judaism uses
the Hebrew bible and Christians use the New Testament. The Hebrew bible is referred to as the Old
Testament yet that might not be the case according to Jews. A similarity from the two religions is the
fact that they are both monotheism which is the belief that there is only one God. Yet the two differ on
the beliefs on the one that is called God or the divine. Another fascinating similarity that the two share
are the Ten Commandments. The commandments were discovered by Moses on two tablets which has
been practice by Jews primarily. The adaptation of the commandments were carried over into the New
Testament. Considering most of the Hebrew Bible shares a cross connection into the New testament it
is clear that it would not have been created without the influence of Judaism.
Judaism is a temple based religion that is practice in a synagogue that originated in Israel. Moses was
the first author to the scrolls called the Torah. The verbal teachings of Judaism was how Moses spread

Elite Society In George Orwell s Animal Farm
In today s world it is quite common for there to be elite societies, whether it is a result from power or
intellect. The formation of an elite society is based on how others respond to others actions. In the
novel, Animal Farm, the elite society of Animal Farm is the result of the actions of both the pigs and
the lower animals as well. The pigs use their superior knowledge to manipulate the lower animals, and
the lower animals do not rebel against the pigs or recognize they are being controlled.
The pigs create an elite society by using their superior knowledge to take advantage of the lower
animals. One example of the pigs creating an elite society is when they announce they can read and
write. The pigs reveal this to the lower animals by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of the lower animals allowing the creation of the elite society to occur is when the pigs
eat all of the milk and apples, and are not sharing the food equally between the animals. Squealer
explains to the lower animals why the pigs deserve the milks and apples by saying, Milk and
apples...contain substances absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig... [because] the whole
management... of this farm depends on us... [and] it is for your sake that we drink that milk and apples
(23). The lower animals did not rebel against this idea because they agree that the pigs need to be
healthy to run the farm. Squealer also uses fear to control the animals. He mentions to the lower
animals, if [the] pigs failed in [their] duty... Jones would come back (23). The animals believe
Squealer s statement and certainly do not want Jones to return so they do not rebel. Another example
of the lower animals allowing the creation of the society to happen is when Napoleon executes some
of the lower animals. After the execution the thoughts of Clover are, There was no thought of rebellion
or disobedience in [Clover s] mind. She knew that even as things were they were far better off than
they had been in the days of Jones (58 59). The comparison of Napoleon and Jones makes Clover have
faith in Napoleon instead of anger, which allows the pigs to continue their elite

Effects Of The Reconstruction Era
The Reconstruction era was the period that followed the end of the Civil War whose purpose was to
reconstruct the United States. This was done to help rebuild the South and bring it back into the
Union. The 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments gave African Americans some civil liberties, they
prohibited slavery, gave national citizenship for every person that was born in the United States, and
voting rights can not be denied because of their race or color. Looking at this era, I will discuss how it
affected the society of the Americans, the economy and the laws that were passed. Although the
Reconstruction Era tried to help from the end of the Civil War into the early twentieth century it
resulted a failure to establish the civil rights for the African Americans.
The Americans in the South felt humiliated and were against the decision of the government to give
certain rights given to the African Americans. For this reason, many whites joined some groups who
were against the freed slaves such as the Ku Klux Klan. The Ku Klux Klan was a political terrorist
group whose purpose was to intimidate the black Americans after the 15th amendment was ratified
and they were given the right to vote. The Klan had just appeared there in 1868, using intimidation,
arson, whippings, sexual assault, and murder to keep potential Republican voters away from the polls
in that year s election (Political Terrorism during Reconstruction, 1). This shows the actions that this
social group took to terrorize the Black Americans to avoid their participation in the elections. In April
1865, before his assassination Abraham Lincoln declared that he had hope that there would be no
bloody work after the war, but most of it visited upon the freedman as Northerners and Southerners
black and white struggled over ... the place of African Americans in American society (The Meaning
of Reconstruction, 302). The Americans in the South were not happy with the integration of the
African Americans to their society.
After all the damage that was left over from the war, the goal of the Reconstruction Era was to bring
the economy of the South back to how it was before the war started. The 13th amendment prohibited
slavery, so after this amendment was

Romanian Orphanages
Romanian Orphanages
Imagine a hospital that, at one time ran smoothly helping the public, now with the primary objection
of taking care of the thousands of abandoned infants and children. This is the reality in Romania when
Nicolae Ceausescu was in power. In 1966 he created an Anti Abortion/Contraception law in order to
raise the population and achieve his ultimate goal to slowly take over surrounding areas and increase
Romania s power. The next plan of action was to open orphanages, which caused an entire generation
of mentally and physically handicapped children. Now after more than four decades, the question is if
they have made enough progression on this horrific issue. Ceausescu s law included that each family

Ion Iliescu, former president of Romania created this law thinking that it is better for the children to be
in state run orphanages, foster homes or to be adopted domestically. One thing I m sure he didn t take
into consideration is the fact that most abandoned children are gypsies, most Romanian s will not
adopt a gypsy child. This means that until they open adoption internationally again, many children
will not be getting the loving homes they deserve. It s a shame because there are so many people who
want to adopt from there and can give those children a better home than they could ever imagine in
Romania. When I started writing this research paper, it was just another assignment to get done but I
learned so much and became passionate about the cause. I have researched different groups and have
decided to volunteer abroad in an orphanage. These kids ask for nothing more than to feel secure and
loved, something that most children take for granted here in the U.S. everyday. I am leaning toward
Projects Abroad to do my volunteer work because they are a non religious group( Do International
Volunteer Work with Children in Romania with Projects Abroad. ). Most of the groups are Christian
and I am not very religious so I chose not to join those. Hopefully I will be going in the summer of
2010, I have to wait because the price to go is around $3,000. The tragedy that had befallen Romania
is not good but they have tried to improve

  • 2. Contributions Of The Roman Aqueducts May Pitts Dr. Beth Bir Humanities 211.02 November 21, 2017 Roman Aqueduct Before the Roman aqueduct was engineered, the ancient Roman people depended on local water such as rainwater, springs, streams, well water and stored in cisterns or container. The water quality were a daily problem of the Romans, and the droughts and drainage problems were even deadly. The engineering s curiosity that implemented the rise of the Roman Empire and sustained the water solution. The Roman aqueducts were not all engineered by Roman inventions; the architects used the Greek designs like the columns and arches by the Etruscans. The aqueducts were built from a sequence of brick, stone, and special volcanic cement. The aqueducts were very important to the ancient Romans and profoundly impact their daily living. Ancient Roman aqueducts were constructed to carry water from far away springs and mountains into the cities. From 311 B.C. to 226 A.D., the Romans had built eleven significant aqueducts around Roman Empire. The water would supply the city s fountains, gardens, public baths, bathroom, and a house of wealthy Roman. The water from the aqueducts also was used to irrigate lands, to power mills and other machines used in mining. The first Roman aqueduct is called Aqua Appia, assigned by the member of the Senate named Appius Claudius Caecus in 312 B.C., and Rome became the early civilization to used water so extensively in its cities. • 3. Year Round Schooling Essay Year Round Schooling The education system in the United States is an ever evolving institution. As a country we have progressed from one room schoolhouses, to segregated classrooms, to online learning environments. Congress is constantly passing legislation to better our public school systems and minimize costs to taxpayers. Individual states have also implemented various new systems to try and maximize their education potential. One such alternative is year round schooling. Year round schooling has become increasingly popular over the past few decades and is still a rapidly growing trend. Year round schooling is defined as the reorganization of the traditional nine month calendar so that summer vacation is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While one group is on break, the rest of the groups are in school, and they continue to rotate so that as many students as possible can attend. In a four track school district, student capacity is increased by 33%. In an extended year system, the required number of days that children must attend school is increased from 180 to up to 240. There is also another calendar alternative that can be implemented in school systems: school wide and school within a school calendars. In a school wide calendar, all of the students follow the same yearlong schedule. But in the school within a school calendar, half of the students are on a yearlong calendar and the other half are on the traditional nine month calendar. This type of system has been implemented in several school districts in North Carolina. Some schools (such as Timber Lane school in Virginia) that follow yearlong calendars also offer classes during the intercession breaks. These classes can be voluntary for students who want to get ahead or learn a new or interesting skill, or they can be mandatory for students who struggle and need the time to catch up on the material learned during the year. Regardless of the reason for attending, both teachers and students view intercession classes as a positive aspect of the year round school system. There are many other reasons why year round schooling is beneficial to students. Schools that attend year ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Task1 Essay Biochemistry Competence 208.5.1: DNA,RNA Nicole Seegmiller Mott Western Governors University Abstract This a brief written report on the role of DNA, RNA and transmission on information within a cell to create amino acids. Biochemistry Competence 208.5.1: DNA,RNA DNA replication is an intricate process that requires many different proteins. Each protein preforms a very specific function in the creation of a new DNA strand. First helicase works by unwinding or dividing the original double helix into single stands. The point where the DNA is separated by the helicase is known as the replication fork. Single strand binding proteins attach to the newly made single strand of DNA to prevent re annealing. Next is the addition of an RNA ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First adenosine monophosphate (AMP), a covalent enzyme, must be formed and linked to a lysine enzyme. Next AMP will transfer to the 5 phosphate end of the missing section between the Okazaki fragments. Last OH will help remove the AMP sealing the phosphate backbone together producing a continuous DNA strand ( DNA Ligase, n.d.). A visual representation of ligase joining two Okazaki fragments can be viewed in Figure 2. Transcription is the formation of an RNA strand from a DNA template within the nucleus of a cell. There are four nucleotides of DNA. These are adenine, cytosine, guanine and thymine. These nucleotides are transcribed to form messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) consisting of nucleotides made of adenine, cytosine, guanine and uracil. This transcription from DNA to mRNA happens by an RNA polymerase II. This newly created mRNA is read in the 5 to 3 direction in sets of 3. These sets are called codons. Each mRNA also has a cap and end. On the 5 prime side is a methylated guanine triphosphate and on the 3 prime is a poly A tail. Messenger RNA then moves to the cells cytoplasm and through the cells ribosomes for translation. Messenger RNA is matched to molecules of transfer RNA (tRNA) in the ribosomes to create amino acids. These amino acids subsequently form an amino acid chain. (Osuri, 2003) A visual representation of this can been viewed in figure 3. As was just learned, RNA polymerase II is what transcribes DNA. ... • 14. Goffman Stigma Goffman s work Stigma: Notes on the Management of Spoiled Identity (1968) shows how people want to conform to the social norm by being normal and how this want leads to feelings of exclusion and the sense of a social stigma. Goffman describes stigmatization as building a difference. While the stranger is present before us, evidence can arise of his possessing an attribute that makes him different from others in the category of persons available for him to be, and of a less desirable kinds in the extreme, a person who is quite thoroughly bad, or dangerous, or weak. He is thus reduced in our minds from a whole and usual person to a tainted, discounted one. Such an attribute is a stigma, especially when its discrediting effects is vey extensive; sometimes it is also called a failing, a shortcoming, a handicap (p. 12). This shows that the rejection from society to a person is a social stigma. Many students with disabilities are not considered normal, which gives with a social stigma. Having this stigma encourages conformity. Without a society, there isn t a social stigma. This solidifies the fact that stigmas emerge from social relationships. The theory doesn t care about the qualities and/or disabilities of the person, the theory only cares about making these qualities different by another party (Scholarly Writers Who Use English as an Additional Language: What Can Goffman). Rather Shakespeare s fools appear to be in the best of their wits when they are in possession of the wisest minds. However the most mesmerizing of Shakespeare s fools touches his pieces in the form of the court jesters with their precise and caustic wit fabricated by their well bred minds. These fools it is often presumed were sketched from the models of the contemporary court jesters particularly influenced by Tarlton and Armin the royal fools who were not only popular to the audience but also favorites of the Queen herself. One of the foremost reasons of introduction of these jesters in his plays was to impart them with the role of social critics in the guise of their iridescent costumes. The royal fools in spite of their acerbic tongue that blurted out many a comment against royalty were forgiven for the obvious reasons of those statements being wrapped under their fooleries. Thus the jesters in his plays acted as the representatives of Shakespeare, through whom he can show a glimpse of the real face of the contemporary society to his audience. The first professional fool who made his way into Shakespeare s plays is Touchstone in As you Like it who is probably the most buoyant of his jesters. This could be a major factor in why the island was so heavily contested for hundreds of years; the island is arguably a great launching point for the French Navy to attack the British. With communication during this time period being relatively slow given the lack of modern technology, it would have been easy for the island to be captured by the French without mainland Britain immediately knowing. Thus, there was a great incentive on the part of the British to keep this island well defended so as to protect it from any potential French attacks. Such an assertion can be bolstered not only by the fact that Queen Elizabeth I decided to build a castle off the southern coast of the island in 1594, which could have been done to provide ample protection of the south coastline, but also the production of the map itself in 1600 which is now held by the Yale Center for British Art. There are many features of this map that should be acknowledged. First, there are twelve parishes noted. Although the advertisements are appealing to two different audiences, they both utilize ethos and pathos in an attempt to reach potential consumers. To understand how advertisers attempt to influence audiences to promote a certain idea or purchase a specific item, an explanation of the rhetorical devices used would be helpful. For that reason, the emotional appeal, pathos, focuses on invoking an audiences emotions using elements such as humor, sympathy, hatred, or fear (Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz 28). In addition, ethos, the character appeal, intends to persuade an audience by establishing authority and credibility (Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz 40). The Magna Carta required the king to renounce certain rights, and to accept that the powers of the king could be bound by law (Asimov 12). In the statute books, it appeared that the Magna Carta was brought about by King Henry III, rather than the reapplication of the original charter. The Magna Carta was first used during the Tudor period as a Bill of Rights. The church often attempted to use the first clause of the Magna Carter to protect itself from attacks by King Henry, but its claims had no credibility (Asimov 55). The first person to attempt to use the Magna Carta was Francis Bacon, who asserted that it guaranteed due process in a trial. At this time in English history, the Magna Carta was used in common law. However, it was not seen as a set of liberties guaranteed for the people against the Crown and government in general, but as a normal statute which gave a certain level of liberties that could not be relied on, especially against the king. Therefore, the Magna Carta had very little effect on government in the early Tudor period because of the power the king retained, a situation which lasted until the Elizabethan age. Thus, each attorney and court is afforded an opportunity to design a process that best fits the case and the people involved. SETTING THE STAGE FOR ADR The first step in preparing for an ADR proceeding is to select the type of ADR that best fits the case. • 42. Differences Between Judaism And Judaism Judaism has a concrete connection to the development of Christianity which has influenced the teachings of the religion that would not be made possible without its presence. There are similarities between the Christian faiths to Judaism from how the religions are practiced to the hymns that are shared between the two. A primary difference is the historical background to the discovery of the religions. Another difference would be the sacred text that are used in prayer considering Judaism uses the Hebrew bible and Christians use the New Testament. The Hebrew bible is referred to as the Old Testament yet that might not be the case according to Jews. A similarity from the two religions is the fact that they are both monotheism which is the belief that there is only one God. Yet the two differ on the beliefs on the one that is called God or the divine. Another fascinating similarity that the two share are the Ten Commandments. The commandments were discovered by Moses on two tablets which has been practice by Jews primarily. The adaptation of the commandments were carried over into the New Testament. Considering most of the Hebrew Bible shares a cross connection into the New testament it is clear that it would not have been created without the influence of Judaism. Judaism is a temple based religion that is practice in a synagogue that originated in Israel. Moses was the first author to the scrolls called the Torah. The verbal teachings of Judaism was how Moses spread the word ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Elite Society In George Orwell s Animal Farm In today s world it is quite common for there to be elite societies, whether it is a result from power or intellect. The formation of an elite society is based on how others respond to others actions. In the novel, Animal Farm, the elite society of Animal Farm is the result of the actions of both the pigs and the lower animals as well. The pigs use their superior knowledge to manipulate the lower animals, and the lower animals do not rebel against the pigs or recognize they are being controlled. The pigs create an elite society by using their superior knowledge to take advantage of the lower animals. One example of the pigs creating an elite society is when they announce they can read and write. The pigs reveal this to the lower animals by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example of the lower animals allowing the creation of the elite society to occur is when the pigs eat all of the milk and apples, and are not sharing the food equally between the animals. Squealer explains to the lower animals why the pigs deserve the milks and apples by saying, Milk and apples...contain substances absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig... [because] the whole management... of this farm depends on us... [and] it is for your sake that we drink that milk and apples (23). The lower animals did not rebel against this idea because they agree that the pigs need to be healthy to run the farm. Squealer also uses fear to control the animals. He mentions to the lower animals, if [the] pigs failed in [their] duty... Jones would come back (23). The animals believe Squealer s statement and certainly do not want Jones to return so they do not rebel. Another example of the lower animals allowing the creation of the society to happen is when Napoleon executes some of the lower animals. After the execution the thoughts of Clover are, There was no thought of rebellion or disobedience in [Clover s] mind. She knew that even as things were they were far better off than they had been in the days of Jones (58 59). The comparison of Napoleon and Jones makes Clover have faith in Napoleon instead of anger, which allows the pigs to continue their elite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Effects Of The Reconstruction Era The Reconstruction era was the period that followed the end of the Civil War whose purpose was to reconstruct the United States. This was done to help rebuild the South and bring it back into the Union. The 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments gave African Americans some civil liberties, they prohibited slavery, gave national citizenship for every person that was born in the United States, and voting rights can not be denied because of their race or color. Looking at this era, I will discuss how it affected the society of the Americans, the economy and the laws that were passed. Although the Reconstruction Era tried to help from the end of the Civil War into the early twentieth century it resulted a failure to establish the civil rights for the African Americans. The Americans in the South felt humiliated and were against the decision of the government to give certain rights given to the African Americans. For this reason, many whites joined some groups who were against the freed slaves such as the Ku Klux Klan. The Ku Klux Klan was a political terrorist group whose purpose was to intimidate the black Americans after the 15th amendment was ratified and they were given the right to vote. The Klan had just appeared there in 1868, using intimidation, arson, whippings, sexual assault, and murder to keep potential Republican voters away from the polls in that year s election (Political Terrorism during Reconstruction, 1). This shows the actions that this social group took to terrorize the Black Americans to avoid their participation in the elections. In April 1865, before his assassination Abraham Lincoln declared that he had hope that there would be no bloody work after the war, but most of it visited upon the freedman as Northerners and Southerners black and white struggled over ... the place of African Americans in American society (The Meaning of Reconstruction, 302). The Americans in the South were not happy with the integration of the African Americans to their society. After all the damage that was left over from the war, the goal of the Reconstruction Era was to bring the economy of the South back to how it was before the war started. The 13th amendment prohibited slavery, so after this amendment was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Romanian Orphanages Romanian Orphanages Imagine a hospital that, at one time ran smoothly helping the public, now with the primary objection of taking care of the thousands of abandoned infants and children. This is the reality in Romania when Nicolae Ceausescu was in power. In 1966 he created an Anti Abortion/Contraception law in order to raise the population and achieve his ultimate goal to slowly take over surrounding areas and increase Romania s power. The next plan of action was to open orphanages, which caused an entire generation of mentally and physically handicapped children. Now after more than four decades, the question is if they have made enough progression on this horrific issue. Ceausescu s law included that each family that doesn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ion Iliescu, former president of Romania created this law thinking that it is better for the children to be in state run orphanages, foster homes or to be adopted domestically. One thing I m sure he didn t take into consideration is the fact that most abandoned children are gypsies, most Romanian s will not adopt a gypsy child. This means that until they open adoption internationally again, many children will not be getting the loving homes they deserve. It s a shame because there are so many people who want to adopt from there and can give those children a better home than they could ever imagine in Romania. When I started writing this research paper, it was just another assignment to get done but I learned so much and became passionate about the cause. I have researched different groups and have decided to volunteer abroad in an orphanage. These kids ask for nothing more than to feel secure and loved, something that most children take for granted here in the U.S. everyday. I am leaning toward Projects Abroad to do my volunteer work because they are a non religious group( Do International Volunteer Work with Children in Romania with Projects Abroad. ). Most of the groups are Christian and I am not very religious so I chose not to join those. Hopefully I will be going in the summer of 2010, I have to wait because the price to go is around $3,000. The tragedy that had befallen Romania is not good but they have tried to improve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
