Is Tachylectin 5a A Protein Found During The Immune System...
Tachylectin 5A is a protein found in the immune system of the Japanese horseshoe crab, Tachypleus
tridentatus. Tachylectin 5A, which has a PBD reference number of 1JC9, is mainly found in the
hemolymph plasma of horseshoe crabs (1). This protein was determined on June 8th, 2001 via x ray
diffraction (1). The X ray diffraction results in an absorbance of 2.01 Å (2). It shows that the protein
contains 269 residues, and the molecular weight ot is 380 400 kDa (2). Proteins similar to tachylectin
5A have been found in various organisms like slime molds, sponges, bony fish, and lancelets (3).
Tachylectin 5A is structurally related to the fibrinogen γ fragment, which is found in mammals
plasma; and it is similar to a protein in humans called ficolin, which is involved in host defense
through nonself recognition (4).
Tachylectin 5A is an ellipsoidal molecule that is an asymmetrical monomer, which is subdivided into
three different domains that interact with each other (2). The primary structure of Tachylectin 5A
constitutes 269 amino acid residues (1). The amino acid composition of this protein has a cis peptide
bone between Arg 218 and Cys 219 (3). It contains one protein modification called prryolidone
carboxylic acid, which is the twenty fourth amino acid in the sequence (1). And the secondary
structure of the protein consists of 16% alpha helical and 24% beta sheets. There are 9 helices with 44
amino acid residues and 19 beta sheets with 66 residues involved in total (1). The

American Imperialism Research Paper
Nationalism is the ideology based on the foundation that the individual s loyalty and devotion to the
selected nation is more important than other individual or group interests. There are many things that
people are able to relate to and identify as being that can include; their culture, homeland, family,
and/or religion. There is naturally a strong loyalty towards the place people were raised. However, that
tends to bring enemies too because not everyone is born in the same place and it tends to bring
competition on which place it better bringing rift to all around. Even though with all of the negatives
that come with strong nationalism, I believe nationalism brings more good than bad in Europe, Japan,

the United States freedom sooner than most other countries. There was a clear two party political

Categorization Of Intriguing Compounds Lab Report
The Categorization of Intriguing Substances An ionic compound is the electrostatic attraction between
protons and electrons that are transferred between two atoms. Ionic bonds occur with a metal and a
nonmetal atom. Metals lose electrons to create cations, while nonmetals gain electrons to make anions.
Covalent compounds occur only in nonmetals, which is characterized by the sharing of pairs of
electrons between atoms and other covalent bonds. Additionally, the melting and boiling point of ionic
bonds are high, whereas covalent bonds are low. Since electrons and ions are shared in covalent
compounds, it lacks moving electrons or ions. Therefore, electricity cannot be conducted; on the other
hand, ionic compounds move freely and will have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, covalent compounds may take the form of either solid, liquid, or gas; moreover,
they are loose and molecular. Once the ions are dissolved, the presence of charged particles distributed
throughout the liquid allows the solution to conduct electricity. Therefore, ionic compounds have
higher melting and boiling points compared to covalent compounds. Similarly, ionic compounds
dissolved in water make an electrically conductive solution, which are able to move freely through the
solution carrying the charge and conducts an electric current. Correspondingly, covalent compounds
do not exhibit any electrical conductivity in either pure form or when it is dissolved in water. Thus,
ionic compounds dissolve in water and have higher melting and boiling

Whale Talk Reflection
The twists and turns of your life can be so unexpected, and that s a good thing to learn. Whale talk is a
story of a kid named T.J and some of his friends that go through a life of a teenager. In the story Whale
Talk by Chris Crutcher, people who have been through traumatic events cope with challenges in their
lives by overcoming, forgetting, or learning.
Forgetting is how some people cope with their traumatic events in life. Something that would be hard
to unsee is this traumatic because it would definitely make me feel extremely bad. This was a terrible
start to chapter 5 because these are real world problems. But somehow while the baby s grandmother

died but you would just have to not do the same thing that T.J s dad did. T.J will remember this
because he saw it with his own eyes and it was his dad so he would not be able to forget it. Anyone

Doing Business In Jamaica
Jamaica is located in the Caribbean Sea and is the largest English speaking country in the Caribbean,
over 146 miles from east to west. The island varies in its features as well. The north coast contains
coral beaches and plains where sugar cane, coconuts and citrus fruits grow, the west coast is more of a
secluded area, and the southern region is full of mountains and small mining towns. Jamaica also has a
warm climate, with the average temperature being about 80 degrees, but it also rains a lot. There are

Impact of Rhythm and Blues on African-American Culture Essay
Rhythm and blues, also known today as R B , has been one of the most influential genres of music
within the African American Culture, and has evolved over many decades in style and sound.
Emerging in the late 1940 s rhythm and blues, sometimes called jump blues, became dominant black
popular music during and after WWII. Rhythm and blues artists often sung about love, relationships,
life troubles, and sometimes focused on segregation and race struggles. Rhythm and blues helped
embody what was unique about black American culture and validate it as something distinctive and
valuable. The term rhythm and blues was coined in 1947 by a white man named Jerry Wexler who was

From the 1950 s to the 1970 s rhythm and blues bands usually consisted of piano, guitars, drums
saxophone, bass, and were sometimes accompanied by background vocalists. New World
Encyclopedia (2008) states As rhythm and blues combined the elements of jazz, gospel music and the
blues, it thus created a very personalized form of melody and rhythm which has become known as one
of the outstanding styles of American music. From jazz and its combination of African black folk
music blended with European folk and pop music, rhythm and blues incorporated the syncopated beats
supported by colorful chordal combinations to mirror the emotions and experiences of the composer
and singer/musician. The term rhythm and blues has had several different meanings. In the early 1950
s it applied to blues records, in the late 1950 s it applied to electric blues along with gospel and soul, in
the 1960 s it was called soul music, and in the 1970 s it was a blanket term for soul, funk, and disco.
Much of the popular electric guitar led blues bands like Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, and BB King
that came from Memphis and Chicago were considered rhythm and blues since they appealed to the
older demographic. The broadcasting and recording industries did not solely represent the conquering
racial assumptions of the 1950 s, they internalized them and helped to continue them. Racial
conventions permeated the organization and structure of the music industry at every level. The very

and architecture of the pantheon had an influence on the buildings that were built at a later stage
through time. The Pantheon is a circular building with a portico of large granite columns after 2000

History Of Beer Brewing Beer And The Styles Of Beer Essay
Introduction
This paper is intended to review the history of brewing beer, the differences between the breweries,
the trends, the process and ingredients used in brewing beer and the styles of beer. Detailed
information will be discussed on how to adequately serve beer with food and how to compliment them
together to make them appealing to the public. Beer was invented many centuries ago and was first
known as a homemaker skill. Over the years beer has become very popular and technology has made
the process of brewing beer less complex and more flavorful allowing for extreme success in the
brewing industry.
Analysis
The history of beer is an extensive one, the actual timing and individual that invented beer is
unknown. It is estimated that beer was created by accident over 5,000 years ago. Hard evidence of
beer production dates back about 5,000 years to the Sumerians of ancient Mesopotamia (Andrews,
2014.) The concoction to create beer was stumbled upon when bread and wheat got wet and because
water was usually contaminated beer became the preferred beverage. Beer is primarily made up of
malt extract, yeast, hops, and water (Flowers, 2014) these ingredients add the syrup taste, sweetness,
and different flavors to the beer while it is being brewed.

Tissue Aging Research Paper
Among the diseases and disorders associated with advancing age, one of the most debilitating is the
loss of normal cardiac function leading to heart failure. Heart failure affects approximately 1% of
individuals over 50 and over 5% of individuals over 75. With the ongoing steep rise in the proportion
of elderly individuals within our population (Schocken et al., 2008), age related heart failure is
becoming increasingly prevalent.
Most age related heart failure occurs in the setting of normal systolic function and is called diastolic
heart failure, in contrast to systolic heart failure (Aurigemma, 2006). Although progress has been

The Structural Adjustment Program Project
The structural adjustment program project is one project of the World Bank that created substantial
problems for the assisted nation, which in this case is Burundi. The structural adjustment program is a
sort of lending program by the World Bank for countries whose economies are experiencing crisis.
However, this lending program requires certain reforms and policies to be implemented by the
receiving country in exchange for loans. In other words, the loans are strictly conditional, and these
conditionality attachments are the root cause through which the project creates problems for the
assisted nation. According to the CIA, Burundi is one of the world s poorest countries having poor
resources with a high rate of poverty, an undeveloped manufacturing sector and foreign aid represents
42% of Burundi s national income. Retrieved from https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the world
factbook/geos/by.html. Due to expanding budget deficits, debt servicing accumulated in the 1970s, a
coffee boom period, and war, Burundi adopted the structural adjustment program project around the
late 1980s to the 90s. The structural adjustment program emphasized the need to pursue the policy
program with special attention to macroeconomic and public sector management. It recommends
further policy actions to reinforce the restructuring of the Burundian economy: a) active export
promotion policies; b) liberalization of the labor and financial markets; and c) promotion of private

The Failure Of The Space Race
During the Cold War, the rivals the United States and the Soviet Union were in what seemed like a
competition to determine who had the most advanced technology. This was because that country will
be seen as the strongest and the biggest threat to the other. The space race really began officially on
October 4, 1957, when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik I, which was the first artificial satellite ever
to be launched in space. This was seen as a danger to the United States, because it meant that the
Soviet Union was possible capable of doing other things, possibly against the US. Then the Soviets
launched Sputnik II, but this time it had a passenger, a dog named Laika. Though this mission was a
failure because poor Laika died within hours ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was it, America s chance to win the space race. The Apollo Lunar Program was then formed. On
December 21, 1968 Frank Borman, James Lovell, and William Anders began the first manned journey
from the earth to the moon on the Apollo 8. They orbited the moon and returned safely. On July 20,
1969, Apollo 11 s lunar module landed on the moon. Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on
the moon, and said the iconic words that s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind and
placed the American flag on the moon. The Soviet union canceled their lunar program, and the space
race was over.
The space race is very significant to the Cold War because it became a key part of the overall
competition which created more tension between the United States and the Soviet Union during the
Cold War. The Space Race influenced the development of the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile in
Russia, which lead to the arms race. It also opened America s eyes to the importance of science and
support it more as a necessity to stay on top rather than just being a hobby. When America first
accomplished the biggest space achievement, getting a man on the Moon the end of the Cold War

The Family Medical Leave Act ( Fmla )
The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) was passed with the idea of creating job protected leave
when necessary, while also providing employees with the opportunity to balance work, health, and
family responsibilities. FMLA is designed to avoid job loss when employees request additional time
off in order to treat a critical medical condition or deal with serious family or personal matters. Due to
the establishment of FMLA, workers can now maintain employment as they treat qualifying medical
conditions, care for a close relative, bond with newborn, etc. In other words, the concept of FMLA
was for employers to legally support their workers during life s challenging circumstances. Although
many positive outcomes are a result of this law, administering FMLA has turned into a challenging
and complex task for employers. Passing this law triggered many unintended consequences that have
tremendously affected the way organizations manage their leave of absence policies. Employee abuse
of this privilege is a major issue employers are being faced with. The impact FMLA leave has on the
entire company, including quality, performance, and productivity can be dramatic. These unplanned
concerns that now exist due to FMLA provide tremendous amounts of stress for the employers to
properly manage the law; FMLA has turned into a problem employers are defenseless against.

present a critical analysis; thereby enabling Magic Faraway Tree School (MFTS) to make an
informed, research based decision about whether they should begin to initiate a BYOD policy in the
school.
Context of school
MFTS is in close proximity to Enchanted Distant Shrub CBD; with significant access to wireless
internet. The school is located in an affluent area; hence most students are from families with high
socio economic statuses. However, the school s technology is a little outdated. While it has an
Interactive Whiteboard (IWB) in each classroom; there are only two small computer labs, which do
not allow for 1 1 computing. The school has one class set (26) of iPads to share. To enable students
development of 21st century skills and adhere to the QTM (NSW DET 2003), the school wants to

The Natural Approach ( Na ) Developed By Tracy Terrell And...
The Natural Approach The Natural Approach (NA) developed by Tracy Terrell and supported by
Stephen Krashen, is a language teaching approach based on how babies naturally learned their native
language. The efficiency of the NA is derived from its very own structure: a communicative based
approach, which produces superior results than any habit drill approach. Its own name reflects the
importance of this method, since it duplicates the natural path of first language acquisition into second
language acquisition. Therefore, students should first be able to acquire language before they are able
to speak it; oral production should be delay until it naturally emerges or when the students are ready to
do so. Acquisition and learning are two different concepts that need to be addressed differently in
order for the student to learn a new language. In The Natural Approach to Language Teaching: An
Update, Tracy Terrell explains Krahen s Monitor Theory, which categorizes these two conceptions
apart by stating that acquisition is the unconscious formulation of grammatical principles and learning
as the conscious cognitive based study of grammar (122). Such definitions suggest that the best time
for students to learn a language is outside the classroom, where they are exposed to language in its
natural form. They are exposed to little acquisition practices outside the classroom; therefore,
acquisition should happen in the classroom and learning outside the classroom. They are

Social Changes In The Industrial Revolution
Society had many social and economic changes throughout the time of the Industrial Revolution in
Great Britain during, 1750 to 1850. The Industrial Revolution is the time at which farming work
changed into factory work and new methods were made. This switch really benefited Britain. There
were many of each change in society, one of the economic changes could be selling stock, and all the
new types of businesses formed . Also new transportation and the assembly line all are considered
economic changes. A social change could be all the new advanced technology and urbanization. In this
time period a big social change would involve all the new technology. Society could use these new
advanced tools to communicate with others. One invention by Samuel Morse was telegraphs. These
telegraphs improved communication by making it easier to send people messages, they were even in a
secret code. Morse code was eventually named after Samuel Morse. Another change that happened in
the beginning of the change from agriculture to industry is urbanization. This is when the people move
from the rural areas to urban areas. The rural areas are on the countryside like farms, while urban areas
are cities with factories. People left the rural places because there was no longer jobs for them since
the agricultural revolution caused less farmers being needed, also the factories are taking over. The
factories were located in the cities; many people moved here because the factory owners would need

Advantages Of Anti-Competitive Agreement
CHAPTER IV
ANTI COMPETITIVE AGREEMNENT
People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the
conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices.
While doing business in India, parties are prohibited from executing anti competitive agreements.
Generally, the agreements which cause or are likely to cause appreciable adverse effect on competition
( AAEC ) are anti competitive agreements. However, the Competition Act, 2002 ( Act ) recognizes
intellectual property rights and to facilitate their protection, the Act permits reasonable restrictions
imposed by their owners. Similarly, the Act exempts agreements between exporters as exports do not
impact markets in India. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most obvious example would be that of agreements between enterprises dealing in the same
products. However, in general, it is important to define the relevant market(s). To attract the provision
of the law, the products must be substitutes. Being at the same stage of the production chain implies
that the parties to the agreement are both (all) producers, or retailers or wholesaler. As has been
interpreted over the years in the U.S. (and enacted more recently in other countries) a dissention is
drawn in this regard between horizontal and vertical agreements. In certain circumstances it can be
established that firms that are collaborating on some socially valuable activity may need to agree to do
away with competition so to establish the cooperative relationship. In this, the European Community
law goes beyond the objective of maximizing welfare and explicitly allows some Restrictive contracts
if they promote progressiveness and consumers ultimately stand to gain. The Japanese law also allows
for actions in contravention of the law provided they are in the public interest . It would be dangerous
to allow the kind of discretion in interpretation possible under the Japanese law. Any exceptions that
are permissible should be clearly laid down. However, we recommend that Restrictive contract which
are designed to promote use of energy efficient manufacturing processes and production of Eco
friendly products or conservation of natural resources should be explicitly permitted as

I Am My Own Villain And Procrastination
It s a race to the finish line in a typical workday in my world, and that finish line is what I label to be
the time clock. I have allowed this small, compact technology device that is screwed into the concrete
wall, to control my life Monday through Friday. I know without a doubt, that if I punch that small
button on time, the rest of my day is guaranteed to be smooth sailing. You see, I m not a person that
wakes up refreshed, smelling the Folders coffee in the morning, while birds are singing beautifully to
me. I purposely pile on the stress and it creates this anxiety in my life, mainly in the mornings while
racing to get ready and drive to work. I have no understanding to why I do this to myself, but I am my
own villain and procrastination is my toxic poison. There are many people that have morning routines
that they follow while getting ready, but me, I do whatever I want, when I want, and because of that,
my morning time is limited. Some days I do not have time to pack a lunch, or even take our two dogs
out to pee. Since my husband works third shift, I depend on him to come home and do it for me.
Making the first move to get out of bed is always the toughest, plus getting ready for work is a
preparation from hell. Then, I have to hustle and bustle, and drive like a mad woman to get to work on
time. Every morning, my annoying alarm clock goes off at 7:30, but I turn it off and roll back over to
knock out some more snooze time. Sometimes I ll decide to get up and eat

Read The Visual Meaning
What does it mean to read the visual ? What do you understand by the term visuality ? Using a
photograph or single image, explore the relationship between seeing and being, as it applies to visual
phenomena. Include a copy of the image.
To read the visual, one must look past the initial image and understand the context, meaning, emotions
and events that are occurring within the image. We all subconsciously draw a meaning from what we
see, we do this by identifying what is known and breaking that down into a simplified meaning. A
majority of us see the world visually, yet some people have the ability to reiterate what they see in a
visually poetic manner. A literary poem invites the reader to create an image in their mind,

The process is one step further than simply reading the visual. Visuality is the combination of seeing
and being or as Hal Foster is cited by Alexa Sand the mechanism of sight and its historical techniques,
between the datum of vision and its discursive determinations (Sand, 2012: 90). One text which
epitomises both the importance and envy of the visual is Kathryn N. Benzel s text Modern
In(ter)vention: Reading the Visual . Benzel discusses Virginia Woolf s attempt to become imbedded in
the practice of visuality; Woolf attempted to combine literature and visual art (Benzel, 2003: 322). She
was in awe of the painter Walter Sickert and his ability to portray life rather than executing a portrait
(Benzel, 2003: 329). Woolf attempted to create an aesthetic experience for reader[s] by recreating
Sickert s paintings into a literary experience; As cited by Woolf herself it was the sympathy of the eye
and of the imagination... aesthetic sympathy (Benzel, 2003: 324). In further writings Woolf goes on to
say how imitating a painting is vain and trivial but to writers it is illusive and irresistible (Benzel,
2003: 324). An attempt to describe what visuality is almost as frivolous and Woolf s plight to recreate
paintings into a literary piece. Visuality is seeing and it is being, but one cannot trivialize both in to a

Lack Of Willpower, And The Lack Of Willpower
Flower A. Newhouse, a Christian mystic, once said, Lack of willpower has caused more failure than
lack of intelligence or ability.
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines willpower as energetic determination. Synonyms of
willpower include self discipline, self government, self mastery, self command, self control and self
restraint.
What allows one person to possess great willpower and another none? Is there a genetic predisposition
for self restraint? Is it a learned pattern? Are you born with it? More important, can you develop
willpower?
Willpower affects all facets of life: money (the self restraint to practice delayed gratification, such as

Most people talk of change, but many are not willing to strive for it. Don t give up so easily, as
willpower can be learned. It just takes time, as when you learn anything. You didn t learn to
skateboard, roller skate or read in one day, and you won t develop willpower in one week. But you can
develop willpower over a period of time. You just have to start!

Disadvantages of Texting Texting on the phone while driving can be a very dangerous thing to do. As
someone looks at the phone and concentrates on the text messages, they will become distracted from
driving. Distracted drivers can cause car accidents and injuries or death to themselves or others.
Texting causes delayed reactions, which increase the chance of getting into an accident. According to
Cary Aspinwall, when texting while driving, drivers take their eyes off the road for 4.6 of 6 seconds. A

My Favorite Form Of News Satire And Old Greek Comedy
News satire is one of my favorite forms of comedy. News satire basically takes the news, something
that people see every day and is typically serious, and makes it funny. Sometimes it is just completely
fake or just exaggerated news. It could almost be considered incongruous because people do not
expect news to be funny at all, so the fact that it is turned into comedy makes it incongruous to its
regular nature. At the same time, it is also a form of comic relief . It provides people with relief from
the anxiety they might feel when watching or reading the regular news. Watching news satire you are
more likely to laugh than experience feeling of dread, concern, or worry. There can also be examples
of benign violation depending on the material, so that depends on the topic the comedian is talking
about and the way they decide to portray it. The delivery of the news is a big part of why it is so funny
as well. Typically comedians deliver it a deadpan manner. Deadpan means that it delivered in an
expressionless manner. Funny things said without emotion are funnier than things said with a lot ...

satirists feature political criticism in their material. They both also include buffoonery. News satire
also has some similarities to Roman comedy or New Greek Comedy. All three of these styles of
comedy feature stock characters. The main example of satirical news shows using stock characters is
Saturday Night Live s segment, The Weekend Update. The Weekend Update features a lot of stock
characters like The Girl You Wished You Never Started A Conversation or One Dimensional Female

The Mexican Revolution
The Mexican Revolution began November 20th, 1910. It is disputable that it extended up to two
decades and seized more than 900,000 lives. This revolution, however, also ended dictatorship in
Mexico and restored the rights of farm workers, or peons, and its citizens. Revolutions are often
started because a large group of individuals want to see a change. These beings decided to be the
change that they wanted to see and risked many things, including their lives. Francisco Pancho Villa
and Emiliano Zapata are the main revolutionaries remembered. These figures of the revolution took on

Díaz, afraid of losing his presidency, rigged the election and had Madero arrested. After his release, he
fled to the United States and planned a revolt for November 20th, 1910. While this revolt did fail, it
inspired many people who were tired of being dictated to join in a revolution. Banding Together
Soon after this failed revolt, groups began to form in hopes to successfully remove Diaz. In Northern
Mexico, Francisco Villa returned and gathered an army of Mexican cowboys. Another army was led
by a peasant unsatisfied with the government with the name of Pascual Orozco. One of the bigger
groups consisted of Emiliano Zapata and they were called the Zapatistas. This force grew to include
over 5,000 men. In 1911 these groups worked together to overrun Díaz. Zapata seized the town of
Cuautla, and afterwards cut off the town from Mexico City. Díaz started to realize what was
happening and fled to Europe. This victory would start of a new conflict beginning.
The New Conflict
Soon after the victory Francisco Madero was declared as the new president. Madero tried to please
everybody which led to nothing being done. Nobody liked the lack of progress and people once again
started forming revolutionary groups. Victoriano Huerta, the leader of the conservative federal army,
and a faction of people led by Díaz s nephew Felix Díaz fought for ten days in Mexico City. This
battle is known as La Decena Tragica. On the ninth day of the battle, Felix Díaz

Career As An Occupational Therapist
As a sophomore majoring in health science, the goal I have is to pursue a career as an occupational
therapist. This career gives me plenty of opportunities I can only benefit from. Whether it comes from
job security, steady income, occupational therapy allows me to use my abilities to help someone
regain the abilities they once had. To be able to change the life of others as a career seems to be the
most rewarding opportunity I could ever take. In order to achieve this goal of being an occupational
therapist, there is a long journey of schooling and getting licensed ahead of me. The scope of practice
and responsibilities of an occupational therapist include many aspects of helping someone recover
from a variety of health issues. As an occupational therapist you treat injured, ill, and disabled patients
through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. The activities help patients recover and improve to
be able to function for daily living. Therapists show patients how to use adaptive equipment such as
leg braces, wheelchairs, and eating aids (Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2015). As an occupational
therapist there are a variety of fields you can be certified in. This can include pediatrics, geriatrics,

Mcdonald s Liability
Essentially, Ritenbaugh expressed that God s word shows that He holds people accountable for
liability when people have careless disregard towards other people.
Conclusions
The case of Liebeck v. McDonald s clearly illustrates that companies must be mindful of not harming
consumers through defective provides, because consumers that are harmed by products, have the
ability to successfully win awards to be compensated for damages. With that in mind, it is
recommended that Divine Coffee Shops reduce coffee temperatures. According to the Burn
Foundation (2016), to eliminate the risk of burns, hot liquids should not be served beyond 160
degrees. The full article published by the Burn Foundation can be found here:
http://www.burnfoundation.org/programs/resource.cfm?c=1 a=3. To ensure that our customers are
protected, we must implement a policy of checking the temperature of the coffee, before serving
customers. The case of Liebeck v. McDonald s was been repeatedly cited as an example of frivolous

College Athletes Should Be Paid
College athletes should be paid to play and schools need to consider compensating these athletes for
their talents based on the revenue they generate. Given the fact college sports is a big money maker
for many universities and colleges, Kenneth Cooper, author of the article, Should College Athletes be

who are representatives of the schools they attend (Cooper). Additional arguments made by Cooper

Invention , he takes note to separate creation and discovery (conception) according to purpose ,
suggesting the two occur as a sequence: (accidental) conception, then (purposeful) creation. He then
goes on to discuss the factors of each in detail. Conception is made up of identification, opportunity,
and imagination that is appreciated. Invention is either directional or accidental, distinguished as being
an improvement or entirely new(He borrows from the sociologists H. S. Harrison and L. Bernard).
The responsible factors were available knowledge, needs, opportunity, and genius.
Finally, he goes on to discuss diffusion, step three in his sequence: Conceptualization creation
dispersal. In this model, individuals discover or invent and the process is unproductive and without
result until others adopt it . Without duplicating beyond the inventor or discoverer, the new quality
remains personal, an eccentricity, intriguing or entertaining, but not of great importance (1928, Dixon:
59).

  • 2. Is Tachylectin 5a A Protein Found During The Immune System... Tachylectin 5A is a protein found in the immune system of the Japanese horseshoe crab, Tachypleus tridentatus. Tachylectin 5A, which has a PBD reference number of 1JC9, is mainly found in the hemolymph plasma of horseshoe crabs (1). This protein was determined on June 8th, 2001 via x ray diffraction (1). The X ray diffraction results in an absorbance of 2.01 Å (2). It shows that the protein contains 269 residues, and the molecular weight ot is 380 400 kDa (2). Proteins similar to tachylectin 5A have been found in various organisms like slime molds, sponges, bony fish, and lancelets (3). Tachylectin 5A is structurally related to the fibrinogen γ fragment, which is found in mammals plasma; and it is similar to a protein in humans called ficolin, which is involved in host defense through nonself recognition (4). Tachylectin 5A is an ellipsoidal molecule that is an asymmetrical monomer, which is subdivided into three different domains that interact with each other (2). The primary structure of Tachylectin 5A constitutes 269 amino acid residues (1). The amino acid composition of this protein has a cis peptide bone between Arg 218 and Cys 219 (3). It contains one protein modification called prryolidone carboxylic acid, which is the twenty fourth amino acid in the sequence (1). And the secondary structure of the protein consists of 16% alpha helical and 24% beta sheets. There are 9 helices with 44 amino acid residues and 19 beta sheets with 66 residues involved in total (1). The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. American Imperialism Research Paper Nationalism is the ideology based on the foundation that the individual s loyalty and devotion to the selected nation is more important than other individual or group interests. There are many things that people are able to relate to and identify as being that can include; their culture, homeland, family, and/or religion. There is naturally a strong loyalty towards the place people were raised. However, that tends to bring enemies too because not everyone is born in the same place and it tends to bring competition on which place it better bringing rift to all around. Even though with all of the negatives that come with strong nationalism, I believe nationalism brings more good than bad in Europe, Japan, Russia, the United States. Europe s ... Nationalism brought the United States freedom sooner than most other countries. There was a clear two party political system that did divide people into two belief systems, however it still gives them an independence in their choices. At the end of the day, the two major political systems still follow one goal: what is best for the USA? • 4. Categorization Of Intriguing Compounds Lab Report The Categorization of Intriguing Substances An ionic compound is the electrostatic attraction between protons and electrons that are transferred between two atoms. Ionic bonds occur with a metal and a nonmetal atom. Metals lose electrons to create cations, while nonmetals gain electrons to make anions. Covalent compounds occur only in nonmetals, which is characterized by the sharing of pairs of electrons between atoms and other covalent bonds. Additionally, the melting and boiling point of ionic bonds are high, whereas covalent bonds are low. Since electrons and ions are shared in covalent compounds, it lacks moving electrons or ions. Therefore, electricity cannot be conducted; on the other hand, ionic compounds move freely and will have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, covalent compounds may take the form of either solid, liquid, or gas; moreover, they are loose and molecular. Once the ions are dissolved, the presence of charged particles distributed throughout the liquid allows the solution to conduct electricity. Therefore, ionic compounds have higher melting and boiling points compared to covalent compounds. Similarly, ionic compounds dissolved in water make an electrically conductive solution, which are able to move freely through the solution carrying the charge and conducts an electric current. Correspondingly, covalent compounds do not exhibit any electrical conductivity in either pure form or when it is dissolved in water. • 20. The Natural Approach ( Na ) Developed By Tracy Terrell And... The Natural Approach The Natural Approach (NA) developed by Tracy Terrell and supported by Stephen Krashen, is a language teaching approach based on how babies naturally learned their native language. The efficiency of the NA is derived from its very own structure: a communicative based approach, which produces superior results than any habit drill approach. Its own name reflects the importance of this method, since it duplicates the natural path of first language acquisition into second language acquisition. Therefore, students should first be able to acquire language before they are able to speak it; oral production should be delay until it naturally emerges or when the students are ready to do so. Acquisition and learning are two different concepts that need to be addressed differently in order for the student to learn a new language. In The Natural Approach to Language Teaching: An Update, Tracy Terrell explains Krahen s Monitor Theory, which categorizes these two conceptions apart by stating that acquisition is the unconscious formulation of grammatical principles and learning as the conscious cognitive based study of grammar (122). Such definitions suggest that the best time for students to learn a language is outside the classroom, where they are exposed to language in its natural form. They are exposed to little acquisition practices outside the classroom; therefore, acquisition should happen in the classroom and learning outside the classroom. They are ... As someone looks at the phone and concentrates on the text messages, they will become distracted from driving. Distracted drivers can cause car accidents and injuries or death to themselves or others. Texting causes delayed reactions, which increase the chance of getting into an accident. According to Cary Aspinwall, when texting while driving, drivers take their eyes off the road for 4.6 of 6 seconds. • 30. My Favorite Form Of News Satire And Old Greek Comedy News satire is one of my favorite forms of comedy. News satire basically takes the news, something that people see every day and is typically serious, and makes it funny. Sometimes it is just completely fake or just exaggerated news. It could almost be considered incongruous because people do not expect news to be funny at all, so the fact that it is turned into comedy makes it incongruous to its regular nature. At the same time, it is also a form of comic relief . It provides people with relief from the anxiety they might feel when watching or reading the regular news. Watching news satire you are more likely to laugh than experience feeling of dread, concern, or worry. There can also be examples of benign violation depending on the material, so that depends on the topic the comedian is talking about and the way they decide to portray it. The delivery of the news is a big part of why it is so funny as well. Typically comedians deliver it a deadpan manner. Deadpan means that it delivered in an expressionless manner. Banding Together Soon after this failed revolt, groups began to form in hopes to successfully remove Diaz. In Northern Mexico, Francisco Villa returned and gathered an army of Mexican cowboys. Another army was led by a peasant unsatisfied with the government with the name of Pascual Orozco. One of the bigger groups consisted of Emiliano Zapata and they were called the Zapatistas. This force grew to include over 5,000 men. In 1911 these groups worked together to overrun Díaz. Zapata seized the town of Cuautla, and afterwards cut off the town from Mexico City. Díaz started to realize what was happening and fled to Europe. This victory would start of a new conflict beginning. The New Conflict Soon after the victory Francisco Madero was declared as the new president. Madero tried to please everybody which led to nothing being done. Nobody liked the lack of progress and people once again started forming revolutionary groups. Dixon in 1928) began with the lengthy dispute regarding how one explained alike cultural traits occurring in geographically separate areas (1928, Dixon: 33; also 182s). It could not be denied that every cultural quality was discovered or invented first. There was always necessarily a beginning, a first for all. (1928, Dixon: 35). In the chapter Discovery and Invention , he takes note to separate creation and discovery (conception) according to purpose , suggesting the two occur as a sequence: (accidental) conception, then (purposeful) creation. He then goes on to discuss the factors of each in detail. Conception is made up of identification, opportunity, and imagination that is appreciated. Invention is either directional or accidental, distinguished as being an improvement or entirely new(He borrows from the sociologists H. S. Harrison and L. Bernard). The responsible factors were available knowledge, needs, opportunity, and genius. Finally, he goes on to discuss diffusion, step three in his sequence: Conceptualization creation dispersal. In this model, individuals discover or invent and the process is unproductive and without result until others adopt it . Without duplicating beyond the inventor or discoverer, the new quality remains personal, an eccentricity, intriguing or entertaining, but not of great importance (1928, Dixon: 59).
