News satire is one of my favorite forms of comedy. News satire basically takes the news, something
that people see every day and is typically serious, and makes it funny. Sometimes it is just completely
fake or just exaggerated news. It could almost be considered incongruous because people do not
expect news to be funny at all, so the fact that it is turned into comedy makes it incongruous to its
regular nature. At the same time, it is also a form of comic relief . It provides people with relief from
the anxiety they might feel when watching or reading the regular news. Watching news satire you are
more likely to laugh than experience feeling of dread, concern, or worry. There can also be examples
of benign violation depending on the material, so that depends on the topic the comedian is talking
about and the way they decide to portray it. The delivery of the news is a big part of why it is so funny

over 5,000 men. In 1911 these groups worked together to overrun Díaz. Zapata seized the town of

happening and fled to Europe. This victory would start of a new conflict beginning.

Soon after the victory Francisco Madero was declared as the new president. Madero tried to please
everybody which led to nothing being done. Nobody liked the lack of progress and people once again
started forming revolutionary groups. Victoriano Huerta, the leader of the conservative federal army,
and a faction of people led by Díaz s nephew Felix Díaz fought for ten days in Mexico City. This

Whether it s creative writing, analysis essays or just research papers, finding new ways to express my
thoughts with colorful language is exciting to me. Your Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts school
offers me the opportunity to combine all those writing types into one major. The Culture and Media
major appeals to me most due to its broad topics of study. I can be trained in all the topics that interest
me at once without having to go through the troubles of double majoring. The small and concentrated
aura around this college is perfect for me because I have always worked better in calmer
environments. The fact that this program is more student led and independent is also ideal for me,
being someone who prefers to be in charge of my education and my work proves this. Not only is
writing a big part of my life, I ve been playing music since I was six years old. Piano specifically. I
was trained classically since the start of my musical career and have done a few recitals showcasing
my talent. Since the start of freshman year I have picked up on trombone and I love it. I always
thought music would be my first choice for everything. It was only recently where I realized that
practically, writing is the way to go. I think I am better at writing, it comes naturally for me. Even
though music stays a very prominent part of my life, I ve decided to minor in Music Composition so I
can still have that part of me present without completely throwing it

College Athletes Should Be Paid
College athletes should be paid to play and schools need to consider compensating these athletes for
their talents based on the revenue they generate. Given the fact college sports is a big money maker
for many universities and colleges, Kenneth Cooper, author of the article, Should College Athletes be
Paid to Play ?, argues that college athletes should not be paid due to the fact they are still amateurs
who are representatives of the schools they attend (Cooper). Additional arguments made by Cooper

Despite devoting forty to sixty hours per week to their sport most of the year, which is more than
many full time jobs, Division I football players aren t considered employees and lack basic economic
rights under the NCAA s cartel restrictions (Johnson). The NCAA made $912.8 million dollars last
year and are now poised to top the eye popping mark of $1 billion in annual revenue (Clotfelter).
These types of figures prove that revisions must be made when it comes to paying student athletes. To
be clear, student athletes do not need salaries or monthly paychecks, even though the NCAA runs just

within their means like anyone else in America. For this reason, schools can then pay what they want,

Similarly, The Building of Cultures (by R. B. Dixon in 1928) began with the lengthy dispute regarding
how one explained alike cultural traits occurring in geographically separate areas (1928, Dixon: 33;
