What Are The Different Types Of Love In Romeo And Juliet
Humans have many goals and decisions throughout their life, some important, some trivial. Love is
one of the big decisions that appears in life. Love varies in many forms, love between friends and the
love between a parent and their child are different. These different types of love are called facets, and
are often utilized in literature to show the relationship between characters. These facets lets the reader
know what kind of person the character is and makes the story more engaging, and detailed because
Eros, one of the types of love, shows the passion between lovers, Philia shows the love between
friends, and Storge shows the loving relationship between a child and their parents.
Eros shows the romantic love between two individuals, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An example for this can be found in Romeo and Juliet when Mercutio says At this same ancient feast
of Capulet s sups the fair Rosaline whom thou so loves, with all the admirèd beauties of Verona. Go
thither, and with unattainted eye compare her face with some that I shall show, and I will make thee
think thy swan a crow. (Shakespeare Act 1 Scene 1). This quote tell us that Mercutio is telling Romeo
to go to the feast and compare Rosaline with the other girls, and that when he does, he will find that
she is not as beautiful as the others. This is important to the story as it establishes that Mercutio does
not want Romeo to be sad about Rosaline, so he tells him to find someone else. Another example of
Philia can be found in the popular childrens novel Charlotte s Web. In Charlotte s Web, E.B White
writes Why did you do all this for me? he asked. I don t deserve it. I ve never done anything for you.
You have been my friend, replied Charlotte. That in itself is a tremendous thing. (E.B. White 164).
This quote shows that Charlotte loved Wilbur and helped him out of friendship. This as a result
solidifies the bond between Charlotte and Wilbur, and shows the audience that they are very close
friends. Philia helps the reader understand if a character is a good person or not depending on how
they treat each

Ca3130 Unit 1 Case Study
2.8 CA3130 Op Amp
CA3130A and CA3130 are op amp that combine the advantage of both CMOS and bipolar transistors.
Gate protected P channel MOSFET transistor are used in the input circuit to provide very high input
impedance, very low input current and exceptional speed performance. The use of P,OS transistor in
the input stage results in common mode input voltage capability down to 0.5V below the negative
supply terminal, an important attribute in single supply application.
The CA3130 series circuit operates at supply voltage ranging from 5V to 16V. They can be phase
compensated with a single external capacitor, and have terminals for adjustment of offset voltage for
application requiring offset null capability

The Ronald Reagan Administration
I will be going over the discrimination of African Americans by the Ronald Reagan administration
during the cold war. The effects his policies had on African Americans, what he gained from it, and
the reasoning for his actions. How he used the C.I.A to target low income African American
communities. Plus, the overall effects this has on the U.S. to this day.
In 1982 the crack epidemic started, which shortly after Ronald Reagan expanded the war on drugs that
Nixon started, one of his top aides admitted that the war on drugs was used to target African
Americans and hippies . The number of incarcerations before the war on drugs was expanded in 1980
was four thousand seven hundred forty nine for drug related crimes, in 1990 that number increased to
twenty four thousand two hundred ninety seven, sixty percent of those incarcerations were African
Americans (sentencingproject.org). If you were caught with one gram of crack you got the same
sentencing as someone found with eighteen grams of cocaine, it was policies like these that targeted
lower income black communities because crack was much cheaper than cocaine and was more likely
for a white person to have cocaine. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lugar launched multiple hearings on whether the C.I.A was selling crack in America, the report of the
Committee, released on April 13, 1989, found that the C.I.A was working directly with drug

sold mainly in lower income black communities of Los Angeles. In 1982, surveys conducted by the
National Institute on Drug Abuse showed significant drops in drug usage over long periods for a wide
range of age groups (academic.udayton.edu). We spent billions of dollars fighting the war on drugs yet
addiction continued to rise because of the help the Reagan administration gave to these drug

Different Types And Patterns Of The World
It is early in the morning, and women in Hindu families all over the world are preparing to begin their
day. As the women in these families, they have many duties and rituals that they perform daily for
them and their families. After washing up, they clean the house and make sure that everything is
properly decorated. Next, they prepare the place that they are going to perform a ritual where they
make something called a Kolam.
Kolams are made in many different places, there are different types and patterns, and there are many
reasons that Kolams are said to be made. First, I want to look at what they actually are: A kolam is a
drawing that is typically done at the entrance of a house and is created from rice flour. Kolams are not
only made for the entrance of a house however. Kolams are also made for things other than every day
activities such as weddings and in front of temples, which are considered sacred kolams that are not to
be touched. Kolams are drawn for festivals and many other special events. Although there are several
traditional patterns, kolams do not always have a pattern and the creativity of the drawing is left up to
whomever is drawing it. Kolam is practiced only by women and is taught to the younger girls in the
family by the mothers. They are very intricate drawings and there are certain ways in which the
women go about drawing them.
The place that the women prepare for the kolam is cleaned and then dampened with water in hopes
that the dried flour

Brechtian Alienation in Theater Performance Essay
Brechtian Alienation in Community Performance
Eugen Berthold Friedrich Brecht, (b.1898 d.1956), known commonly as Bertolt Brecht, was a German
poet and playwright. One of his major contributions to theatre history was the alienation effect (From
the German, Verfremdungseffekt ). Brechtian alienation requires the removal of the fourth wall. This
is a term that describes the suspension of disbelief by the audience that takes place during a
performance. It is often thought that the audience looks in on the play s action through an invisible
wall, just as the audience during a performance is focused upon a procenium stage. This is a literal and
figurative term. The audience pretends that the characters in the story are actually alive, ... Show more

The performers know that what they have to say is rehearsed and is for the benefit of the audience.
The political message is of great importance. However, the entire event has an air of surrealism.
A second example of community performance that utilizes the effect of Brechtian Alienation is the
work of the late monologist, Spaulding Gray. Spaulding Gray (1941 2004) was the author and
performer of monologues such as Swimming to Cambodia (1987) and Monster in a Box. (1992)
During his performances, Spaulding sat serenely behind a desk, sipping water as he related stories of
his life, satirized for the benefit of an audience. No subject was taboo. He spoke candidly about
puberty, sex and suicide. His monologues contained many messages, some quite political. Although he
portrayed himself as a character, disassociating himself from many of the painful memories he shared
(such as dealing with the suicide of his mother and his subsequent depression), the audience was
always keenly aware that his work was a reflection of his experience, not a factual reporting of the
experience itself. His words made audiences introspective, leading them to mull over issues of social
justice. His final performance was his own suicide in 2004, pointedly highlighting the issues facing
the mentally ill.
The next example is not motivated by any political agenda. Renaissance

Informative Essay Courage
Informative Essay: Courage What feeling emerges in our hearts when we hear the word Courage ?
Profound respect, fear, regards or may be...nothing. This word has a long history and its starting point
is from the Latin word coraticum. The root cor signifies heart . Recently, after the world entered
English through French it was finished with an English suffix age, which denotes action or the
consequence of action. So actually it signifies an action that originates from a heart, or strictly
speaking it is a respectable action. The topic of this essay is the explanation of the contemporary
definition of courage . In what sense is this word utilized by contemporary individuals? The primary
explanation of the use of this term is to portray individuals who have a quality of thinking that permits
them to face risk without apprehension, which is likewise alluded to as fearlessness or daring. The
definitions of this word are various; however since the world around us changes, the definitions
change as well. For example, if I discuss the autonomy of word I can define courage as the individual

Of Mice And Men By John Steinbeck
Have you ever wanted to pinch a babies chubby legs or cheeks? Phrases like You re so cute, I could
eat you up, or You re so fluffy I m gonna die, are expressions that individuals use in everyday life, but
do they genuinely want to eat someone, or die because they think they are cute and fluffy? Similarly,
why do individuals cry when exceedingly ecstatic, or laugh when nervous? In the popular literature
piece Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, the main character Lennie loves his pet mouse so fully that
he pets it too hard and it dies (Steinbeck, 1994). In real life, majority of the individuals who
experience harmful urges do not actually inflict harm on the cute personal or animal, but the mere
thought or urge to do so is worth studying. Surprisingly, there is still not a huge deal of research on the
phenomena, however that is changing. These paradoxical impulses, like harming something enjoyable,
have recently been attaining spotlight in the psychological realm. Through the lens of evolutionary
psychology, it is easy to immediately think there is no adaptive purpose to harming something that
elicits positive emotions into one s life. Nonetheless, a handful of researchers have been suggesting an
actual adaptive purpose for these harmful urges exists. To begin, there is one particular study that
almost completely dominates this topic and will be the premise behind the connection of literature on
this fascinating topic. A research team at Yale University conducted a

Reflective Essay On The Glory Of God
As I said in this processing, we as individuals along with the church are coming full circle to the
image and the bride of Christ. In order to complete the process and walk in victory we re going to
have to get things right in the church. Let me say it again, if we are to walk in the manifested power of
the Glory of God we have to be transparent, accountable and get things right or God is going to strip
us naked in front of everybody. We must stop perpetrating, be real and keep it real on this journey. We
must take authority over every unclean spirit and everything that s not like God.
Rebuke those spirits! Rebuke the spirit of fear and intimidation in the name of Jesus! Renounce the
spirit of passivity. Renounce the spirit of insecurity, for in your weakness God s strength is made
perfect. Weakness is where the anointing is. We got to speak over ourselves, speak over our situation:
Now God I decree in the name of Jesus that I m walking into health, body, soul and spirit. In the name
of Jesus, I decree myself free. I make a decision. I ve decided to be free in the name of Jesus. Wash me
Lord! Satan will not stop the advancement of the church. He will not stop the advancement of the
people of God no matter what device he uses.
One of his most diabolical devices is the tongue. The people of God need to learn to bridle their
tongues. The same word that is spoken in your local church, you need to speak. You got to start
conforming to the spirit of the house. God wants to do

Using Mixed Methods For A Mixed Method Design
Mixed methods are a combination of both qualitative and quantitative data. According to Sherperis,
most researchers define themselves as either a qualitative or a quantitative researcher (Sherperis, C. J.,
Young, J. S., Daniels, M. H. (2010). Although it seems that combining the two would be a win win
situation for the researcher as both sides are considered, it is important that there is trustworthiness
and that coding is done appropriately. Having said this, it is important that whatever research method
is used, the method must be valid Laureate Education (Producer). (n.d.). Using a mixed methods
design allows for research to be broader, vast, and have more depth (Sherperis et al., 2010). When
conducting research, it has also been mentioned that Sherperis that although researches define
themselves as one or the other (qualitative or quantitative) it is not necessary to do so. When
performing a mixed methods design, one must think about how they wish to go about this research. It
is imperative to be informed so that there are no issues with validity of the research. Cresswell (1999)
has suggested the following prior to partaking in research using mixed methods 1) Determine the
order in which you will implement the qualitative and quantitative data of your study, 2) Determine
the weight that will be given to the quantitative and qualitative data, 3) determine how the two types
of data will be mixed/combined, and 4) determine the theory that will guide your design

Biological Substances And Its Effects On Bacterial Infections
Introduction: Antibiotics are vastly known to be prominent therapeutic agents used to treat and prevent
bacterial infections. Antibiotics involve chemical substances, either of natural or synthetic origins, that
destroy pathogenic microorganisms with minimal damage to host tissues. These chemotherapeutic
agents combat various diseases by affecting different targets in eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells.
Antibiotics work through several mechanisms of action to combat target pathogens: (1) inhibition of
cell wall synthesis; (2) inhibition of protein synthesis; (3) injury to the plasma membrane; (4)
inhibition of nucleic acid synthesis; and (5) competitive inhibition of the synthesis of essential
metabolites. Despite the availability of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The evolutionary development of these superbugs can be attributed to the global misuse of
antimicrobial agents. The overpopularity and distribution of antibiotics being sold without prescription
to treat minor symptoms including headaches have promoted resistance growth. In addition, continual
consumption and longer dose regimens of outdated, adulterated, and even counterfeit antibiotics are
common. These factors have collectively contributed to the development of antimicrobial resistance.
And hence, new antibiotics need to be produced as potential agents to address these pathogens. Many
antibiotics incorporate chemical substances of natural origins. Various members of the Streptomyces
genus, which account for over two thirds of clinically used antibiotic treatments, are soil
microorganisms. This is just one out of countless microorganisms that are present in the soil that can
potentially have antimicrobial properties just waiting to be discovered. In addition, soil is one of the
most expansive ecosystems that have contributed to the origins of antibiotic synthesis as well as
contribute to the development of thousands of clinical and medicinal applications. In this experiment,
microbial isolates were extracted from various soil samples, purified, and screened through a variety
of antibiotic and genomic processes to determine antibiotic attributes. These

Exploitation In Early American History
Throughout early American history, the exploitation of minorities and resources has been a leading
theme. The leading cause for this exploitation was the lens that the American Dream placed upon
society. This lens was the idea that if something was positively affecting the economy, the exploitation
of minorities and resources was overlooked. The American Dream caused this because the expectation
of America s success was so high that people took drastic measures to succeed disregarding the
exploitation of resources and minorities. Overall, the effect that the American Dream had on
minorities and resources in early American history was predominantly negative. The strongest
examples of this occurred through fur trading, the textile mills of Lowell, ... Show more content on

Lowell was built on water power, utilizing the canals and dams to power their mills. In 1837, there
were seven canals on the Merrimack river, each with their own support network of locks and dams.
The locks and dams were used for means of controlling the flow of the Merrimack river and
distributing its water to the twenty six textile mills. Due to a high demand of textiles, more and more
mills were being built in Lowell and other places. Because of this the Boston Associates, a group of
wealthy Boston merchants who began the mills, constructed dams along the Merrimack river in order
to store water and generate power for factories. The river, even with all the new dams, did not supply
enough water power. The Boston Associates then gained control of over 100 square miles of New
Hampshire lakes feeding into the Merrimack river system. The Associates dammed those lakes and
they finally provided a regular flow of water and enough water power. Although these canals
strengthened the Merrimack Valley s economic power and led to it being named the nation s greatest
industrial center in the 19th century, the canals had extremely negative effects on the

Philip Larkin s Faith Healing Essay
How typical in terms of subject, theme, structure and versification is Faith Healing by Larkin? Philip
Larkin s Faith Healing In 1964, Philip Larkin published his third book of poetry, entitled The Whitsun
Weddings . One of the many critically acclaimed poems was Faith Healing . In this essay, I intend to
explore how typical this poem is in terms of subject, theme, structure and versification. In Faith
Healing, women flock to an American Faith Healer for a blessing. The persona of the poem is written
from an outsider s point of view, looking in at this sight. Faith Healing is divided into three stanzas,
each of ten lines. Iambic pentameter is used to give 5 major stresses to each of the 10 lines. The three
stanzas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By now, all s wrong . It is interesting to note that with all 3 of these poems, Larkin adopts a personal
persona. He is omniscient; in Mr Bleaney, it is as though he is a man looking for accommodation; in
Here, it is as though he is the one on a journey and in Faith Healing, he is present, observing this
spectacle. Therefore, I feel that Mr Bleaney and Here are closely linked to Faith Healing in terms of
structure and versification. Faith Healing is an ambiguous poem that seems critical of religion. At the
start of the poem, many flock to the Faith Healer but by the third stanza, the 20 seconds with the
American seem to have ruined their lives. They have had their true feelings and emotions unlocked
and have realised that they have never really been loved. An immense slackening ache. Spreads slowly
through them . The Faith Healer thaws these emotions and we see the women suffer a sense of real
loneliness and depression as this reality dawns. This strongly correlates with the theme in Mr Bleaney,
a poem exploring loneliness and the fear in which it evokes. In the poem, we are told of Mr Bleaney s
old room that is cheap and not cared for. The persona explores Bleaney s life. Ironically, he finds he
can identify with him in some respects. So it happens

include difficult turns, leaps, and some acrobatics. The background of the stage is a 3 dimensional
setting built to look like a dump. The cats use the dump as part of the stage. They enter and exit
through old tires in the floor and jump across the other objects as if they were real cats playing in a
dump.
The play included all types of dancing, including Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Tap, and Lyrical. Most of the
dancing, however, was a form of Jazz. At one point in the play a group of bugs perform a tap dance.
This scene was comical, but the tapping was outstanding. Most of the actors are accomplished singers,

Domestic Policies Of Thomas Jefferson, William Harding,...
The domestic policies of Thomas Jefferson, William Harding, Calvin Coolidge, and Ronald Reagan
varied greatly as they were set forth during different time periods. Firstly, Thomas Jefferson wanted a
government that would respect the power of individual states, operate with a smaller bureaucracy, and
cut its debts. He believed that the government would stimulate the growth of agriculture and therefore
bolster the economy. William Harding, who was president from 1921 to 1923, supported the
Immigration Quota Act of 1921 which made it more difficult for immigrants from Eastern and
Southern Europe to enter the country. Harding was also determined to make the federal government
serve United States business interests. Additionally, from 1923 to 1929, Calvin Coolidge was
outspoken in his support for civil rights for African Americans and Natives. He also believed that the
federal government should not intervene in local affairs. Finally, Ronald Reagan was president from
1981 to 1989, and he set out to cut taxes and deregulate some industries. Reagan hoped that
deregulation would lower costs and boost profits for employers while lowering prices for consumers.
Ultimately, from 1801 to 1989, the United States changed greatly economically, politically, and
socially causing presidents domestic policies to change as well. Firstly, Thomas Jefferson held office
from 1801 to 1809 and established a wise and frugal Government, which shall restrain men from

Lao Tzu Evil
The concepts of good and evil exist within every society therefore there must exist some method of
instruction about the path to goodness. Lao Tzu, the author of the Tao Te Ching, who defines good as
having faith in the Tao to better the world and oneself, and Dante, who wrote The Divine Comedy and
defines good as faith the way of heaven and hell and in the punishments of sinners, take very different
approaches to defining the path to virtuousness. Lao Tzu defines what is good and focuses on the
reward of achieving that goodness, while Dante defines the good by exemplifying the bad to inspire
fear through the prospect of punishment. In the model of good versus evil one can focus on achieving
good or avoiding evil by setting an example that appeals to peoples interest in bettering their own lives
or in bettering their society. The good as defined by Lao Tzu can be more effectively and universally
achieved through a system of reward that defines the good such as is done in the Tao Te Ching rather
than using a system of punishment that defines good by exemplifying the bad through the sinners as
Dante does. While both texts appeal to self interest in their teaching of how attain virtue, Lao Tzu
widens his argument to consider the desire of people to better their society as well as themselves
which is more accurate to the nature of people. Dante suggests that the natural empathy of humans is
hindering and must be eliminated, but that view goes against human instinct as it is

The Role Of Self Identity For Adolescents
The life transitions are the major changes that occur throughout individual s lifespan. Adolescence is
often classified as one of the most challenging and significant stage during life transition. In this
phrase, the individuals not only developing physical and sexual maturation but also experiencing the
development of identity and transitions into social and economic independence (WHO, 2014). This
essay will discuss the different concept of self identity for adolescents, the important predictable and
unpredictable elements during the transition, as well as the nurses role in relation to adolescence care.
According to Erikson s theory, as the individual transits into adolescence, he or she begins to express
the high interest in understanding and trying to make sense of the self and its qualities. This process
includes self awareness, self conscious and self examination ( Brinthaupt Lipka, 2012). Porfeli, Lee
Vondracek (2013) believed that in the early to middle adolescence, the individuals are struggling to
identify the balance between developing a unique individual identity while still being accept by the
general society. Therefore, it explains the reason why individual may develop high consciousness
towards to criticism in social environment. Simultaneously, Hoffnung, M., Hoffnung, R. J., Pause,
Jeffrey, Burton, Hine (2013) stated that adolescences are able to evaluate self identity from multiple

The Great Impact On The United Kingdom
The 1930s have been a decade of great changes in the United Kingdom. Three succes sive National
governments left the British People quite lost in terms of leadership, especial ly in those times of
Great Depression. The raising of the taxes and the massive wave of unemployment led the poor to
become even poorer but it also saw the expansion of the middle class among the society. Indeed, this
period saw the falling of prices of goods, the reduction of the number of large families, the settling of
the reduction of working hours and the outbreak of paid holidays by the Prime Minister Neville
Chamberlain which let families in less need. Moreover, the outbreak of household electrical goods
such as televisions or vacuum cleaners marked the development of the popular culture and, therefore,
of the middle class . On the other hand, the quantity of poor remained massive among the working
class and the rising of the conservative party after the appalling failure of Ramsay MacDonald s
government has made a contribution to it. Those changes stimulated interest from many authors in the
postwar literature and the role of class has been crucial in the wri ting of the period. Between two
wars, it was the end of the birth setting your future. Many people didn t know where they belonged

Biblical Allusions in The Magician s Nephew
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician s Nephew is very interesting story wise. It has a lot of good
morals and allegories teaching integrity, self control and wisdom and is mostly composed of biblical
allusions.
A biblical allusion is to use a reference from the bible to communicate a hidden meaning. You could
compare your best friend to Jonathan, King David s loyal friend in the books of Samuel. You could
also illustrate faith through the strength of the disciples as they remained faithful even in persecution.
Many biblical allusions can be found here in The Magician s Nephew .

Aslan had also chosen specific animals to have the power of speech. Those who had this free will to

man and woman and the freedom of speech for humanity. As long as they did not go back to their old
ways as dumb animals, the speaking animals were given authority by Aslan to govern the animals who
could not talk. Lewis gives us a hint that humans are dumb in nature, and that we would be nothing

authority over us as His creation.

Transcendentalism is an American literary, philosophical movement, promoting the idea of
independent progress. The central idea is the optimistic viewpoint of humanity. People, men and
women equally, have knowledge about themselves and the world around them that transcends or goes
beyond what they can see, hear, taste, touch or feel. A transcendentalist is a person who accepts these
ideas without the influence of religion as a way of understanding life relationships. Emerson was a
Harvard educated essayist and lecturer and is recognized as our first truly American thinker. In his
most famous essay, The American Scholar, he urged Americans to stop looking to Europe for
inspiration and imitation and be themselves. He believed that people were naturally good and that
everyone s potential was limitless. He inspired his colleagues to look into themselves, into nature, into
art, and through work for answers to life s most perplexing questions. His intellectual contributions to
the philosophy of transcendentalism inspired a uniquely American idealism and spirit of reform. Dark

The Constitution And The American Constitution
When our founding fathers decided to separate from England, it was understood that they would have
to form their own government. Their first official form of government failed, but they learned from
their mistakes and promptly followed up by making quite possibly the most successful constitution
ever in 1776. To ensure that American citizens would enjoy their new freedom, our founders kept in
mind what John Locke had said in his An Essay Concerning Human Understanding life, liberty, and
property, by coining life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness into the final draft of the constitution.
The constitution is important because it exists to protect the rights of all citizens, and has no legitimate

more words (87,000) (Collier). The national constitution has never been replaced; however, it has been

how detailed it is. Depending on the era, a constitution may have certain rules which as time
progresses become more hurtful to its constituents. Only a century ago, women and people of color
had little to no rights as a human being. It took America, Land of the free , a little more than a century
to allow women to vote. It is obvious that the ability to amend a constitution is a valuable one. The
issue in Texas is that it has had a unique history and vast spread of land; therefore, it s constitution is
quite detailed. Texas was once its own republic, it was one of the later states to be admitted to the
United States, and that it occupies so much land that counties within its lines often differ drastically.
Texas first constitution was made in 1836, when it stood as a country, there were no lower units of

reside in the state, priests could not hold office (corruption in Mexico), slavery was legalized, and
slaves could not be freed without permission from the legislature. Those

John Steinbeck s The Last Of The Mohicans
The book Last of the Mohicans is about a group of Native Americans called the Mohicans. The
characters are Hawkeye, his adopted father Chingachgook, and his adopted brother Uncas. They re are
the last of the Mohicans, the last of the bloodline. The story takes place in the 18th century during a
seven year war between Britain and France. Hawkeye and the Mohicans try to save the daughter of a
British colonel when a conflict arises. Magua of the Hurons attempts to kill the Mohicans and kidnap
the two girls. Magua is the trouble maker and wants revenge against Col. Munro by trying to marry
one of the daughters and hurt his pride. There was a lot of racial conflict between white and Indian
race at a time when racism was at its height. The relationship between Chingachgook and Uncas is a

parents and children have endured throughout time. He s very protective of his daughter. She doesn t

Initial Thoughts From Patchwork Texts Essay
This essay sets out to combine initial thoughts from patchwork texts to explore how to become a
primary science leader. Patchwork texts are outlined by Winter (2003) as a series of small sections
which can be complete in itself, but becomes finalised when they are put together. Upon the initial
mention of patchwork texts, I was rather unsure and confused about what it entailed. After further
investigation in seminar and through extra readings I have begun to develop a better understanding of
this type of assessment. I could see the benefits to this type of format but also some uncertainties. Just
like the peers in my group I had reservations about uploading my patches online due to embarrassment
of writing styles and opinions of my work. Ovens (2003) highlights that some students had personal
doubt and worries about their own ideas and felt vulnerable at the prospect of having these ideas
discussed in class. However, having others see my patches provided me with feedback and enabled me
to reflect and deepen my understanding of each topic (Ovens, 2003 and Winter, 2003). It was almost
instant and allowed me to reflect during my thinking process, which Boud (2000) believes enables a
deeper understanding of individual weaknesses. Assessments are supposed to stimulate learning; by
having this continuous assessment it gave me time to develop my thinking and make sense of it
(Ovens, 2003; Winter, 2003; Trevelyan and Wilson, 2012). Henceforth, resulting in a deeper

The Importance Of The Miranda Warnings
Miranda warnings are not required due to the factor that John wasn t being asked any questions at the
time that he was making self incriminating statements. John was in custody, the legal concept of
custody exists when a suspect perceives that he is not free to leave an immediate area (Reid, 2010).
John wasn t advised of the 5th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which gives individuals the right
to refuse to answer any questions or make any statements (Fifth Amendement Right Against Self
Incrimination, 2009). This was completely legal due to the factor that John wasn t being interviewed
at the time of arrest. It is popular belief that the Miranda warnings as seen on television have to be
read directly after arrest; however, the Miranda warnings are required if a person is in custody
(deprived of his or her freedom in any significant way), the police must give a Miranda warning prior
to questioning the suspect and use the suspect (Police Questioning: When Mirnada Warnings Are
Required, 2010). The simple equation for Miranda warning is custody + interrogation = the
requirement for Miranda warnings (Petrocelli, 2010). According to Petrocelli (2010), voluntary
statements are not subject to Miranda warnings, so an officer need not stop a suspect from making
incriminating voluntary statements. If the police officers were asking him questions during the time of
arrest the whole scenario would have changed and the Miranda warnings would be required due to the
factor that

Hollywood Is Like A Battle
Maggie Quigley, a 29 year old Asian/ White Actress, told Associated Press that competition for roles
in Hollywood is like a battle. Even with her roles beside many top tier actors and actresses, she

away roles to white people that should be for Asians; the term is called white washing . Apparently
there is some belief in Hollywood that Asian leads just will not be understood by American public.
For example, the movie 21. The movie is based on a true story about a group of MIT students led by
John Chang and focusing on player Jeff Ma. They used card counting to win a fortune in blackjack.
Yet Hollywood finds it boring. No one would want to watch two Asians playing blackjack. Why not
make the cast almost all white and add sex and drinking? And that is what they literally did.
Most members of the team were Asian males, but you wouldn t know that from watching the movie.
The author of the nonfiction story that inspired the film, Ben Mezrich, told an audience of MIT
students that early on in the moviemaking process, studio executives told him most of the film s actors
would be white, with perhaps an Asian female. This is consistent with Hollywood s larger trend.

article that discussed the wrongs of denominationalism. In the article the writer stated that the
definition for denominationalism is the tendency to separate into religious denominations (Copeland

Good Night And Good Luck Analysis
Legendary CBS News broadcaster Edward R. Murrow is a journalist who made history with exposing
Senator Joseph R. McCarthy. Although the story will go down in history, with the help of the movie
Good Night, and Good Luck directed by George Clooney, how much is known of the historically
accurate story. While some could argue that George Clooney and producer, Grant Heslov, made the
screenplay naive, others disagree. Many may even state that it was well researched and followed the
original weekly CBS story, See It Now, accurately. Both are easily arguable.
In the movie, Good Night, and Good Luck, it is portrayed that many people or news companies were
too afraid of McCarthy to stand up to him. Although by the time the show, See It Now, aired on the
9th of March, 1954, many people wanted to remove McCarthy from chairman. Many Republicans
joined Democrats in publicly denouncing him, including Richard Nixon. Many would state that
mainstream news was also very anti McCarthy, including Time Magazine and Chicago Tribune.
Another red flag that may make people question the accurateness of this film is the changing in minor
details, including the beginning of this movie when the date of the RTDNA Convention in Chicago is
displayed on October 25th , 1985 when the Convention was held on October 12th, 1958 . Also,
Murrow s keynote address is introduced by a man who talks about the issues that Murrow reported on

The Main Features Of The Argument On The Nature Of...
The key features of the argument on the nature of abortion developed by Judith Thomson first focuses
on the extreme anti abortion view, second the right to life, third the right to live and use the mother s
body, fourth having rights and their being certain limits, and fifth the good Samaritan and the
responsibilities of the parents. The extreme anti abortion view develops a thinking that when a mother
s life is threatened if she should carry her baby to full term what is the decision she must make.
Opponents of abortion believe that the fetus s life is more important than the mother s life and that the
mother should not abort the child. Even though, opponents may believe that the fetus being a person
has every right to life so does the mother. A mother aborting her child cannot be considered an act of
murder, because she is only doing it to save her own life. For example as stated in the text:
There you are lying in bed with the violinist and the director of the hospital comes in and tells you that
your kidneys are failing, and that you will die within a month. But you have to stay where you are
because unplugging yourself directly from the violinist would be considered directly killing an
innocent person; (Thomson, 270)
A person may not seriously consider that someone would willingly sit there and keep themselves
plugged up to someone when they are unwillingly dying because if it. This relates to how a woman

In May 1946 General Lucius D. Clay, the American commandant, ordered an end to the
dismantlement of industries in the American zone. The British and French followed suit efforts in the
western zone were then focused on helping the German economy to recover.
Germans in the Soviet zone were finding their lives being rearranged by others. The Soviets had taken
control of their industries and were starting to take control of their estates and farms. The Soviets also
began to rearrange the thinking of the East Germans telling them they were not Hitler s followers but
his victims (Epler, 1992).
The German Socialist Unity Party was formed in 1946, modeled after the Soviet Communist Party.
East Germans who joined started going to weekly meetings, for many years they had been told that the
Germans were the rightful leaders of the world. Now they were being told that the international
communism led by the Soviet Union would take its rightful place.

Advantages Of Nationalisation In Business
For years, nationalisation has been a prohibited subject within British economies and politics.
However, Jeremy Corbyn s economic project has been concentrated around nationalisation. One of
Corbyn s arguments has been that, national ownership of particular businesses can, promote long term
development of the economy, help to acquire a renovating infrastructure and also provide a quality
health and social care system. Furthermore, with the use of examples from around the world, Corbyn
attempts to illustrate that the state is an ineffective manager, and also indicate the positive
contributions of national ownership. Furthermore, in the UK, national state ownership has previously
been too centralised, with authority in the hands of a private and commercial elite, which promotes
Adam Smith s ideology. This is portrayed when he said, Avarice overrates the difference between
poverty and riches: ambition, that between a private and a public station... , demonstrating that
entrepreneurs drive economies and that their profits are a reward for their own risk, with this being the
Just World theory. In addition, the ideology of Freidrich A. Hayek is also supported by this, and is
illustrated when he said, The more the state plans the more difficult planning is for the individual ,
indicating that the state is exploiting and alienating the population of the UK. Therefore, to improve
national ownership in the UK, measures have to be taken in order to increase the democratic

William Blake s The Chimney
The Pre Romantic poet William Blake grew up in a world that was undergoing dramatic changes. With
the Industrial Revolution in the eighteenth century, child labor became a common practice throughout
Britain. The children were oppressed and had a diminutive existence and were forced to work long
hours in the factories, mills, coal mines and chimneys, in dangerous and inhumane conditions. The
chimneys were often only seven inches wide and only a child was small enough to fit inside and brush
clean it. Master sweeps would buy young children usually six to ten years old from their poverty
stricken parents or take in young homeless children from the streets and turn them into indentured
servants. Blake deplored the society that could treat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The state of Innocence to be understood as childhood, idealism, hope and that of Experience to be
understood as adulthood, disillusionment, social criticism, and despair.
The structure of The Chimney Sweeper in the Songs of Innocence is six quatrains of the rhyme
scheme AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH IIJJ KKLL, it is a dramatic monologue, in which the child
narrates his story through the use of the personal pronoun I which adds a personal and genuine touch
to the poem because children are incapable of lying about their feelings. Blake successfully
emphasizes the innocence of a child who does not comprehend the injustice that he is experiencing.
The Chimney Sweeper in the Songs of Experience is a poem of three quatrains with the rhyme scheme
AABB CACA DEDE. There are two speakers in the poem, an adult speaker in the first stanza asks the
boy Where are thy father and mother? to which the boy replies and takes over as the speaker of the
poem. Blake sets up a pattern of rhyming couplets in the first stanza and then abandons the rhyme
scheme altogether in the next two stanzas in order to show that the speaker in the last two stanzas is a
child and using a simple rhyme scheme makes sense when a child is speaking. The sound of the poem
has a sweet and innocent effect, like the narrator himself.
The Chimney Sweeper in The Songs of Innocence begins with a depressing and sympathetic tone as
the child reveals that he is in a miserable

Essay on Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe
Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe
Elizabeth I came to the throne of England during a time of intense religious turmoil and political
uncertainty. By the end of her reign, England stood as the first officially Protestant nation in Europe;
however, tensions between Protestants and the repressed Catholic minority continued to plague the
nation. Much of the literature produced during the time of her reign reflected sensitivities to religion
and resulting political intrigues. In his play Doctor Faustus, Christopher Marlowe places the title
character in a power struggle similar in form to those conflicts dominating Elizabethan life. Yet rather
than a battle among courtiers for royal favor, the battle in Doctor Faustus pits god ... Show more

In the same respect, Elizabeth s ascension to the throne created royal pressure on Catholics. Some
Catholics fled the country, while others plotted from within to overthrow her Protestant reign and
reinstate Catholicism. Religion had become an issue of royal decree and the source of political
intrigue, linked inexorably to the power struggles and political threats of Elizabeth s reign. Political
success rested not necessarily with religious devotion but with choosing the right side under the label
of religious conviction. Just as religion became a matter of superior political power, so does the battle
between God and the devil for Doctor Faustus soul become an issue of power.
Faustus ambitious desire for power drives him to turn away from God in his pursuit of necromantic
arts. In choosing between the righteous course that God presents and the damning course offered by
the devil, he most carefully considers which will offer him the most power. In the opening scene,
Faustus examines the merits of logic, medicine, law, and divinity, studies acceptable in service to God.
He dismisses each in turn, declaring that he has attained the end of logic and medicine (1.1.10). He
believes that a greater subject fitteth Faustus wit (1.1.11). For Faustus, law is nothing but mercenary
drudge and external trash, far beneath his ambitious purposes (1.1.34, 35). While each of these

Descriptive Essay On Studio Art
Pure imagination, flowing through a sound mind and sound soul; the basic creativity of human
expression. A visual form to which can be expressed in different medias consisting of both beauty and
emotional power. There are various branches of art, such as music, studio art, dance, culinary, and
literature. Studio art is something to which I take to heart, it s a branch I always seem to fall under. It s
simply been a part of my life since I was a kid; I would tend to walk around with a bag full of
crumpled up wads of paper and broken Crayola crayons just shoved into a small bag I bought from the
flea market, no matter where I was at I tended to be drawing anything that came to mind. It s a
beautiful thing which I ve used to define my perspective of how I view the world or just how I feel in
the world of such a vast majority where everyone is so similar in a way. The way that a brush or pencil
dances on a canvas or a sheet of paper just spreading its array of colors, in anyway of line, shape, and
form of movement just to achieve the concept through different types of mediums; is a
beautiful/miraculous sight, seeing the colors and patterns interlock forming this abstract or concrete
image is just stunning. I remember that brief moment where I wasn t creating art pieces due to a lack
of motivation yet all of that had changed when I moved schools; I had an awful art teacher when I was
in my old school (Mercedes High School), he had his favorites and when things didn t come out they
he wanted it you were sure to fail that class. My art pieces weren t the greatest he was so negative
about my techniques and the finished pieces, he never encouraged me or any other student. I had hated
art from that point on, yet when I moved schools I was still the same somewhat but this art teacher
changed me and made me become better a better artist, I began to love it all over again. He showed
me many new mediums, different types of paper/canvases, different brushes and he s taught me I
shouldn t just please the viewer, if i m happy with the outcome of the piece that s all that matters; if I
needed real criticism about my piece I should go to him, he ll critique my work and then he ll tell me
how to improve it or fix a

Sankofa Movie Analysis
The movie Sankofa was a very interesting film. I learned many important things that happened to
African American people back in the days. Some part of the film shook me because of how the way
they were treated. As the movie continued, I realized that white men treated Africans like they were
not human. They named all Africans as the term Negroes . They chained Africans, beat them, and
raped them. The part where this pregnant lady got caught and got sent back was the most horrifying
scene. My heart was throbbing when the man took the first whip. Tears were tumbling down my
cheeks when listening to the man count in terror while whipping the pregnant woman. Another scene
that I find frighten and emotional is when the Africans got their hands and feet chained, then got
dragged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They chained her up and sold her to another plantation. Shoma was petrify to see how Africans
lifestyle were like. It wasn t how the way she expected to be. As her life continued as slaves for a
couple of years she discovered that Africans as slaves have to go through the toughest pain. At the end
of the movie, slaves gathered together to fight their freedom by murdering their masters. Shoma then
walked out of that mysterious underground and cried for help. It was like she were having a bad
dream. She then sat on top of the roof and stare at the water peacefully. She think to herself that she is
glad to be free. This film is well connected to these two other movies called Roots and 12 years a
slave . Both of those movies are emotionally intense like the Sankofa film. Overall, this movie caught
my attention when Shoma first walked down to the mysterious ground. It was a very emotional movie
and send us a message of what life was all about for Africans. It teaches us how African American
history was like. It shows us pain, love, and

The Little Russian Symphony
While I sit amongst the ranks of a stringed beast, my orchestra, I appreciate the small failures made by
myself and my fellow musicians as we fly through the twists and turns of Tchaikovsky s Symphony
No.2, The Little Russian. A missed accidental in measure thirty one or an unfavorable bowing in need
of correction ten measures after G help the ensemble to advance as a whole. My great gratitude for
failure did not carry on outside the ranks of a symphony. Failure was the devil in music, a tritone,
under my bed. My dad always told me, Experience is what you have right after you needed it. I never
found the value of a major seventh chord until it was placed within the sheet music of my life. Stephen
Williams, my private violin teacher, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was a daunting challenge to tackle as I knew the great notes towered high above me. My days
became crammed bursting at the seams as I stuffed hour after hour of pouring over the numerous
ledger lines. Eat, sleep, practice, and repeat. Mom express ordered a heavy metal practice mute to
tame my cacophonous hours of practice, as I fiercely sawed throughout the night mastering note after
note, measure after measure. I, eventually, devolved into a coffee fueled musical robot addicted to the
sharp smell of varnish, the sight of rosin flying, and the sound of strings singing. My journey was long
and hard, all the while working towards a greater goal. Finally looking at a letter, We apologize, but
we were unable to find a seat for your excellent efforts and talents, I was proud, oddly enough. I was
proud of the letter I was holding, for it defined my determination, hard work, and advancement. I was
proud of the opportunity I seized with both hands. I was proud of the fearless jump I had taken. In my
failure I found that I, as a person, am defined by my success, but only I can define what success is for
myself. Failure could be my definition of success. Hard work and determination could be my
definition of success. Through my failure I learned there was no failure, only success. One tritone
within a masterpiece of composition only created more substance defining my

  • 2. What Are The Different Types Of Love In Romeo And Juliet Humans have many goals and decisions throughout their life, some important, some trivial. Love is one of the big decisions that appears in life. Love varies in many forms, love between friends and the love between a parent and their child are different. These different types of love are called facets, and are often utilized in literature to show the relationship between characters. These facets lets the reader know what kind of person the character is and makes the story more engaging, and detailed because Eros, one of the types of love, shows the passion between lovers, Philia shows the love between friends, and Storge shows the loving relationship between a child and their parents. An example for this can be found in Romeo and Juliet when Mercutio says At this same ancient feast of Capulet s sups the fair Rosaline whom thou so loves, with all the admirèd beauties of Verona. Go thither, and with unattainted eye compare her face with some that I shall show, and I will make thee think thy swan a crow. (Shakespeare Act 1 Scene 1). This quote tell us that Mercutio is telling Romeo to go to the feast and compare Rosaline with the other girls, and that when he does, he will find that she is not as beautiful as the others. This is important to the story as it establishes that Mercutio does not want Romeo to be sad about Rosaline, so he tells him to find someone else. Another example of Philia can be found in the popular childrens novel Charlotte s Web. In Charlotte s Web, E.B White writes Why did you do all this for me? he asked. I don t deserve it. I ve never done anything for you. You have been my friend, replied Charlotte. That in itself is a tremendous thing. (E.B. White 164). This quote shows that Charlotte loved Wilbur and helped him out of friendship. This as a result solidifies the bond between Charlotte and Wilbur, and shows the audience that they are very close friends. The effects his policies had on African Americans, what he gained from it, and the reasoning for his actions. How he used the C.I.A to target low income African American communities. Plus, the overall effects this has on the U.S. to this day. In 1982 the crack epidemic started, which shortly after Ronald Reagan expanded the war on drugs that Nixon started, one of his top aides admitted that the war on drugs was used to target African Americans and hippies . The number of incarcerations before the war on drugs was expanded in 1980 was four thousand seven hundred forty nine for drug related crimes, in 1990 that number increased to twenty four thousand two hundred ninety seven, sixty percent of those incarcerations were African Americans (sentencingproject.org). As the women in these families, they have many duties and rituals that they perform daily for them and their families. After washing up, they clean the house and make sure that everything is properly decorated. Next, they prepare the place that they are going to perform a ritual where they make something called a Kolam. Kolams are made in many different places, there are different types and patterns, and there are many reasons that Kolams are said to be made. First, I want to look at what they actually are: A kolam is a drawing that is typically done at the entrance of a house and is created from rice flour. Kolams are not only made for the entrance of a house however. Kolams are also made for things other than every day activities such as weddings and in front of temples, which are considered sacred kolams that are not to be touched. Kolams are drawn for festivals and many other special events. Although there are several traditional patterns, kolams do not always have a pattern and the creativity of the drawing is left up to whomever is drawing it. Kolam is practiced only by women and is taught to the younger girls in the family by the mothers. They are very intricate drawings and there are certain ways in which the women go about drawing them. • 8. Brechtian Alienation in Theater Performance Essay Brechtian Alienation in Community Performance Eugen Berthold Friedrich Brecht, (b.1898 d.1956), known commonly as Bertolt Brecht, was a German poet and playwright. One of his major contributions to theatre history was the alienation effect (From the German, Verfremdungseffekt ). Brechtian alienation requires the removal of the fourth wall. This is a term that describes the suspension of disbelief by the audience that takes place during a performance. It is often thought that the audience looks in on the play s action through an invisible wall, just as the audience during a performance is focused upon a procenium stage. A second example of community performance that utilizes the effect of Brechtian Alienation is the work of the late monologist, Spaulding Gray. Spaulding Gray (1941 2004) was the author and performer of monologues such as Swimming to Cambodia (1987) and Monster in a Box. (1992) During his performances, Spaulding sat serenely behind a desk, sipping water as he related stories of his life, satirized for the benefit of an audience. No subject was taboo. He spoke candidly about puberty, sex and suicide. His monologues contained many messages, some quite political. Although he portrayed himself as a character, disassociating himself from many of the painful memories he shared (such as dealing with the suicide of his mother and his subsequent depression), the audience was always keenly aware that his work was a reflection of his experience, not a factual reporting of the experience itself. His words made audiences introspective, leading them to mull over issues of social justice. His final performance was his own suicide in 2004, pointedly highlighting the issues facing the mentally ill. The next example is not motivated by any political agenda. Renaissance ... Phrases like You re so cute, I could eat you up, or You re so fluffy I m gonna die, are expressions that individuals use in everyday life, but do they genuinely want to eat someone, or die because they think they are cute and fluffy? Similarly, why do individuals cry when exceedingly ecstatic, or laugh when nervous? In the popular literature piece Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, the main character Lennie loves his pet mouse so fully that he pets it too hard and it dies (Steinbeck, 1994). In real life, majority of the individuals who experience harmful urges do not actually inflict harm on the cute personal or animal, but the mere thought or urge to do so is worth studying. Surprisingly, there is still not a huge deal of research on the phenomena, however that is changing. These paradoxical impulses, like harming something enjoyable, have recently been attaining spotlight in the psychological realm. Through the lens of evolutionary psychology, it is easy to immediately think there is no adaptive purpose to harming something that elicits positive emotions into one s life. • 13. Using Mixed Methods For A Mixed Method Design Mixed methods are a combination of both qualitative and quantitative data. According to Sherperis, most researchers define themselves as either a qualitative or a quantitative researcher (Sherperis, C. J., Young, J. S., Daniels, M. H. (2010). Although it seems that combining the two would be a win win situation for the researcher as both sides are considered, it is important that there is trustworthiness and that coding is done appropriately. Having said this, it is important that whatever research method is used, the method must be valid Laureate Education (Producer). (n.d.). Using a mixed methods design allows for research to be broader, vast, and have more depth (Sherperis et al., 2010). When conducting research, it has also been mentioned that Sherperis that although researches define themselves as one or the other (qualitative or quantitative) it is not necessary to do so. When performing a mixed methods design, one must think about how they wish to go about this research. It is imperative to be informed so that there are no issues with validity of the research. Cresswell (1999) has suggested the following prior to partaking in research using mixed methods 1) Determine the order in which you will implement the qualitative and quantitative data of your study, 2) Determine the weight that will be given to the quantitative and qualitative data, 3) determine how the two types of data will be mixed/combined, and 4) determine the theory that will guide your design ... Antibiotics involve chemical substances, either of natural or synthetic origins, that destroy pathogenic microorganisms with minimal damage to host tissues. Antibiotics work through several mechanisms of action to combat target pathogens: (1) inhibition of cell wall synthesis; (2) inhibition of protein synthesis; (3) injury to the plasma membrane; (4) inhibition of nucleic acid synthesis; and (5) competitive inhibition of the synthesis of essential metabolites. Despite the availability of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The evolutionary development of these superbugs can be attributed to the global misuse of antimicrobial agents. The overpopularity and distribution of antibiotics being sold without prescription to treat minor symptoms including headaches have promoted resistance growth. These factors have collectively contributed to the development of antimicrobial resistance. And hence, new antibiotics need to be produced as potential agents to address these pathogens. Many antibiotics incorporate chemical substances of natural origins. Various members of the Streptomyces genus, which account for over two thirds of clinically used antibiotic treatments, are soil microorganisms. The leading cause for this exploitation was the lens that the American Dream placed upon society. This lens was the idea that if something was positively affecting the economy, the exploitation of minorities and resources was overlooked. The American Dream caused this because the expectation of America s success was so high that people took drastic measures to succeed disregarding the exploitation of resources and minorities. Due to a high demand of textiles, more and more mills were being built in Lowell and other places. Because of this the Boston Associates, a group of wealthy Boston merchants who began the mills, constructed dams along the Merrimack river in order to store water and generate power for factories. The river, even with all the new dams, did not supply enough water power. The Boston Associates then gained control of over 100 square miles of New Hampshire lakes feeding into the Merrimack river system. The Associates dammed those lakes and they finally provided a regular flow of water and enough water power. Philip Larkin s Faith Healing In 1964, Philip Larkin published his third book of poetry, entitled The Whitsun Weddings . One of the many critically acclaimed poems was Faith Healing . In this essay, I intend to explore how typical this poem is in terms of subject, theme, structure and versification. In Faith Healing, women flock to an American Faith Healer for a blessing. It is interesting to note that with all 3 of these poems, Larkin adopts a personal persona. He is omniscient; in Mr Bleaney, it is as though he is a man looking for accommodation; in Here, it is as though he is the one on a journey and in Faith Healing, he is present, observing this spectacle. Therefore, I feel that Mr Bleaney and Here are closely linked to Faith Healing in terms of structure and versification. Faith Healing is an ambiguous poem that seems critical of religion. At the start of the poem, many flock to the Faith Healer but by the third stanza, the 20 seconds with the American seem to have ruined their lives. They have had their true feelings and emotions unlocked and have realised that they have never really been loved. An immense slackening ache. Spreads slowly through them . The Faith Healer thaws these emotions and we see the women suffer a sense of real loneliness and depression as this reality dawns. This strongly correlates with the theme in Mr Bleaney, a poem exploring loneliness and the fear in which it evokes. In the poem, we are told of Mr Bleaney s old room that is cheap and not cared for. The persona explores Bleaney s life. Ironically, he finds he can identify with him in some respects. So it happens ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lao Tzu, the author of the Tao Te Ching, who defines good as having faith in the Tao to better the world and oneself, and Dante, who wrote The Divine Comedy and defines good as faith the way of heaven and hell and in the punishments of sinners, take very different approaches to defining the path to virtuousness. Lao Tzu defines what is good and focuses on the reward of achieving that goodness, while Dante defines the good by exemplifying the bad to inspire fear through the prospect of punishment. In the model of good versus evil one can focus on achieving good or avoiding evil by setting an example that appeals to peoples interest in bettering their own lives or in bettering their society. The good as defined by Lao Tzu can be more effectively and universally achieved through a system of reward that defines the good such as is done in the Tao Te Ching rather than using a system of punishment that defines good by exemplifying the bad through the sinners as Dante does. While both texts appeal to self interest in their teaching of how attain virtue, Lao Tzu widens his argument to consider the desire of people to better their society as well as themselves which is more accurate to the nature of people. This is closely related to the creation of man and woman and the freedom of speech for humanity. As long as they did not go back to their old ways as dumb animals, the speaking animals were given authority by Aslan to govern the animals who could not talk. I give to you forever this land of Narnia. I give you the woods, the fruits, the rivers. I give you the stars and I give you myself. The Dumb Beasts whom I have not chosen are yours also. Treat them gently and cherish them but do not go back to their ways lest you cease to be Talking Beasts. For out of them you were taken and into them you can return. Do not so. The central idea is the optimistic viewpoint of humanity. People, men and women equally, have knowledge about themselves and the world around them that transcends or goes beyond what they can see, hear, taste, touch or feel. A transcendentalist is a person who accepts these ideas without the influence of religion as a way of understanding life relationships. In his most famous essay, The American Scholar, he urged Americans to stop looking to Europe for inspiration and imitation and be themselves. Patchwork texts are outlined by Winter (2003) as a series of small sections which can be complete in itself, but becomes finalised when they are put together. Upon the initial mention of patchwork texts, I was rather unsure and confused about what it entailed. After further investigation in seminar and through extra readings I have begun to develop a better understanding of this type of assessment. I could see the benefits to this type of format but also some uncertainties. Just like the peers in my group I had reservations about uploading my patches online due to embarrassment of writing styles and opinions of my work. Ovens (2003) highlights that some students had personal doubt and worries about their own ideas and felt vulnerable at the prospect of having these ideas discussed in class. However, having others see my patches provided me with feedback and enabled me to reflect and deepen my understanding of each topic (Ovens, 2003 and Winter, 2003). It was almost instant and allowed me to reflect during my thinking process, which Boud (2000) believes enables a deeper understanding of individual weaknesses. Assessments are supposed to stimulate learning; by having this continuous assessment it gave me time to develop my thinking and make sense of it (Ovens, 2003; Winter, 2003; Trevelyan and Wilson, 2012). • 35. The Importance Of The Miranda Warnings Miranda warnings are not required due to the factor that John wasn t being asked any questions at the time that he was making self incriminating statements. John was in custody, the legal concept of custody exists when a suspect perceives that he is not free to leave an immediate area (Reid, 2010). John wasn t advised of the 5th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which gives individuals the right to refuse to answer any questions or make any statements (Fifth Amendement Right Against Self Incrimination, 2009). This was completely legal due to the factor that John wasn t being interviewed at the time of arrest. It is popular belief that the Miranda warnings as seen on television have to be read directly after arrest; however, the Miranda warnings are required if a person is in custody (deprived of his or her freedom in any significant way), the police must give a Miranda warning prior to questioning the suspect and use the suspect (Police Questioning: When Mirnada Warnings Are Required, 2010). The simple equation for Miranda warning is custody + interrogation = the requirement for Miranda warnings (Petrocelli, 2010). According to Petrocelli (2010), voluntary statements are not subject to Miranda warnings, so an officer need not stop a suspect from making incriminating voluntary statements. If the police officers were asking him questions during the time of arrest the whole scenario would have changed and the Miranda warnings would be required due to the factor that ... While some could argue that George Clooney and producer, Grant Heslov, made the screenplay naive, others disagree. Many may even state that it was well researched and followed the original weekly CBS story, See It Now, accurately. Both are easily arguable. In the movie, Good Night, and Good Luck, it is portrayed that many people or news companies were too afraid of McCarthy to stand up to him. Many Republicans joined Democrats in publicly denouncing him, including Richard Nixon. Many would state that mainstream news was also very anti McCarthy, including Time Magazine and Chicago Tribune. The key features of the argument on the nature of abortion developed by Judith Thomson first focuses on the extreme anti abortion view, second the right to life, third the right to live and use the mother s body, fourth having rights and their being certain limits, and fifth the good Samaritan and the responsibilities of the parents. The extreme anti abortion view develops a thinking that when a mother s life is threatened if she should carry her baby to full term what is the decision she must make. Opponents of abortion believe that the fetus s life is more important than the mother s life and that the mother should not abort the child. Even though, opponents may believe that the fetus being a person has every right to life so does the mother. A mother aborting her child cannot be considered an act of murder, because she is only doing it to save her own life. For example as stated in the text: There you are lying in bed with the violinist and the director of the hospital comes in and tells you that your kidneys are failing, and that you will die within a month. But you have to stay where you are because unplugging yourself directly from the violinist would be considered directly killing an innocent person; (Thomson, 270) A person may not seriously consider that someone would willingly sit there and keep themselves plugged up to someone when they are unwillingly dying because if it. A visual form to which can be expressed in different medias consisting of both beauty and emotional power. There are various branches of art, such as music, studio art, dance, culinary, and literature. Studio art is something to which I take to heart, it s a branch I always seem to fall under. It s simply been a part of my life since I was a kid; I would tend to walk around with a bag full of crumpled up wads of paper and broken Crayola crayons just shoved into a small bag I bought from the flea market, no matter where I was at I tended to be drawing anything that came to mind. It s a beautiful thing which I ve used to define my perspective of how I view the world or just how I feel in the world of such a vast majority where everyone is so similar in a way. The way that a brush or pencil dances on a canvas or a sheet of paper just spreading its array of colors, in anyway of line, shape, and form of movement just to achieve the concept through different types of mediums; is a beautiful/miraculous sight, seeing the colors and patterns interlock forming this abstract or concrete image is just stunning. I remember that brief moment where I wasn t creating art pieces due to a lack of motivation yet all of that had changed when I moved schools; I had an awful art teacher when I was in my old school (Mercedes High School), he had his favorites and when things didn t come out they he wanted it you were sure to fail that class. My art pieces weren t the greatest he was so negative about my techniques and the finished pieces, he never encouraged me or any other student. I had hated art from that point on, yet when I moved schools I was still the same somewhat but this art teacher changed me and made me become better a better artist, I began to love it all over again. He showed me many new mediums, different types of paper/canvases, different brushes and he s taught me I shouldn t just please the viewer, if i m happy with the outcome of the piece that s all that matters; if I needed real criticism about my piece I should go to him, he ll critique my work and then he ll tell me how to improve it or fix a ... • 49. Sankofa Movie Analysis The movie Sankofa was a very interesting film. I learned many important things that happened to African American people back in the days. Some part of the film shook me because of how the way they were treated. As the movie continued, I realized that white men treated Africans like they were not human. They named all Africans as the term Negroes . They chained Africans, beat them, and raped them. The part where this pregnant lady got caught and got sent back was the most horrifying scene. My heart was throbbing when the man took the first whip. Tears were tumbling down my cheeks when listening to the man count in terror while whipping the pregnant woman. Another scene that I find frighten and emotional is when the Africans got their hands and feet chained, then got dragged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Little Russian Symphony While I sit amongst the ranks of a stringed beast, my orchestra, I appreciate the small failures made by myself and my fellow musicians as we fly through the twists and turns of Tchaikovsky s Symphony No.2, The Little Russian. A missed accidental in measure thirty one or an unfavorable bowing in need of correction ten measures after G help the ensemble to advance as a whole. My great gratitude for failure did not carry on outside the ranks of a symphony. Failure was the devil in music, a tritone, under my bed. My dad always told me, Experience is what you have right after you needed it. I never found the value of a major seventh chord until it was placed within the sheet music of my life. Stephen Williams, my private violin teacher, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was a daunting challenge to tackle as I knew the great notes towered high above me. My days became crammed bursting at the seams as I stuffed hour after hour of pouring over the numerous ledger lines. Eat, sleep, practice, and repeat. Mom express ordered a heavy metal practice mute to tame my cacophonous hours of practice, as I fiercely sawed throughout the night mastering note after note, measure after measure. I, eventually, devolved into a coffee fueled musical robot addicted to the sharp smell of varnish, the sight of rosin flying, and the sound of strings singing. My journey was long and hard, all the while working towards a greater goal. Finally looking at a letter, We apologize, but we were unable to find a seat for your excellent efforts and talents, I was proud, oddly enough. I was proud of the letter I was holding, for it defined my determination, hard work, and advancement. I was proud of the opportunity I seized with both hands. I was proud of the fearless jump I had taken. In my failure I found that I, as a person, am defined by my success, but only I can define what success is for myself. Failure could be my definition of success. Hard work and determination could be my definition of success. Through my failure I learned there was no failure, only success. One tritone within a masterpiece of composition only created more substance defining my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
