Text Analytics And Natural Language Processing
IV. SENTIMENT ANALYSIS A. The Sentiment analysis process i) Collection of data ii) Preparation
of the text iii) Detecting the sentiments iv) Classifying the sentiment v) Output i) Collection of data:
the first step in sentiment analysis involves collection of data from user. These data are disorganized,
expressed in different ways by using different vocabularies, slangs, context of writing etc. Manual
analysis is almost impossible. Therefore, text analytics and natural language processing are used to
extract and classify[11]. ii) Preparation of the text : This step involves cleaning of the extracted data
before analyzing it. Here non textual and irrelevant content for the analysis are identified and
discarded iii) Detecting the sentiments: All the extracted sentences of the views and opinions are
studied. From this sentences with subjective expressions which involves opinions, beliefs and view are
retained back whereas sentences with objective communication i.e facts, factual information are
discarded iv) Classifying the sentiment: Here, subjective sentences are classified as positive, negative,
or good, bad or like, dislike[1] v) Output: The main objective of sentiment analysis is to convert
unstructured text into meaningful data. When the analysis is finished, the text results are displayed on
graphs in the form of pie chart, bar chart and line graphs. Also time can be analyzed and can be
graphically displayed constructing a sentiment time line with the chosen

Difference Between Whites And Native Americans
The United States saw themselves superior to the Native Americans in all ways. One of these
superiorities included the social stance between the whites and the Indians. In the winter of 1811
Tecumseh preached to the Osages, The white men despise and cheat the Indians; they abuse and insult
them; they do not think the red men sufficiently good to live. The Natives begin to realize that they
have always been mistreated by the whites and understand that they are seen as inferior towards the
whites. This is similar to John Ross s experience; he was once liked very much by many white men,
until after he married a white woman. Their marriage aroused harsh anger and he soon became
disliked by the white man for taking a woman of their race. The riot

The Effects Of Uv On Its Effect On Human Behavior
The second part of the study was trying to determine the effects of UV rays in regards to prodigiosin
production. When defined, evolution is a change over time with respect to S. marcescens and the
change in its genetic components over time [Reviewed by Kelly]. Stemming from evolution, natural
selection is often fostered by the addition of a selective pressure, and in this case it is the UV light.
Selective pressures are created to put stress on the organism which in the end will determine which
organisms survived and which did not. To begin the second part of our study, we began by exposing S.
marcescens, using a germicidal lamp, to wavelengths of UV light between 260 270nm [Reviewed by
Kelly]. Germicidal lamps reduce the microbial populations, giving us a more accurate reading. UV
light is used to either induce growth or inhibit growth or kill bacteria by affecting the bacteria s DNA
structure in chromosomes that cause mutations in its gene sequence [5, 14]. In this range of
wavelengths (260nm 270nm), the DNA s purine and pyrimidine bases strongly absorb UV radiation
[Reviewed by Kelly]. The bases that make up DNA consist of thymine, cytosine, guanine, and
adenine. There are times where a pyrimidine is paired up with another pyrimidine, which causes the
formation of an abnormal four carbon bond between their adjacent carbons [Reviewed by Kelly].
These four carbon bonds together make a structure called a pyrimidine dimer which is when the dimer
is not able to

Disadvantages Of Mantis Shrimp
To many owner having saltwater aquarium, live rock is one of the essential things which set the
natural tone for the whole tank besides fish and turtles. Not only does the collection of the colorful
live rocks beautifies one s tank but also provides shelters for the fish and filters the whole tank.
However, everything has a good side and the bad one. The addition of live rocks to the tank may have
some potential drawbacks, for not every organism living on those marine rocks is important, and even
some of them are disadvantageous to the tank itself. One exemplary unwanted organism which lives
on live rocks is the Mantis Shrimp, which maybe accidentally introduced to the tank through the
addition of live rocks. Mantis shrimp, which is a varicolored creature living in the Indian and Pacific
Oceans, is an extraordinary pet, for not only does it colorful body impresses the people but also its
powerful appendages, which are a nightmare to crabs, gastropods, and almost all other animals in the
sea. Due to its interesting feature, many people at the present favor this species. In addition, some
people even want to adopt the mantis shrimps as their pets; nevertheless, there are many hardships
coming along with this desire. As a growing infant who can mess up with everything within his or her
reach, the mantis shrimp can eat up its neighboring organisms and some marine plants in the tank. The
mantis shrimp is well known by many scientists for its powerful weapon the raptorial appendages
which is equipped for the sake of its survival. It is this feature of the shrimp that makes it a strong
hunter in the nature. Due to this feature, especially the one owned by the Smasher species of the
Mantis Shrimp, the shrimp has no trouble breaking preys with tough shells such as crabs and snails. In
addition to the raptorial appendages, the mantis shrimp can swim insanely fast, thereby boiling water
around it. While one may be surprised by these qualities, other organisms living around it. Because of
its powerful weapon, hunting nature, and the ability to boil through the act of swimming, the mantis
shrimp may be capable of eating every fish in the tank and killing them by increasing the temperature
of water. In order

The Tracker Analysis
The different perspectives create interest and draw us into the experiences of others. The two texts,
The Tracker composed by Rolf De Heer and Bran Nue Dae composed by Rachel Perkins explores this
notion. Both films are evident to the racial discrimination of Aborigines in Australia. The Tracker is a
2002 art house film set in 1922. It is clear that there were no Aboriginal rights and which white
settlement had the greatest control. Bran Nue Dae is a 2009 musical/comedy/drama film set in 1969
about the beginning of Aboriginal rights. The different perspectives are from Colonial/Indigenous
people. The voices were through the role of the characters, the genre, the music and the
cinematography. The Archetypal characters in The Tracker include The Follower, The Fanatic, The
Veteran, The Fugitive and The Tracker. Each character represents a different voice of a group within
society. The voices express the issue of race and racial inequality towards Aboriginals. The three main
archetypal characters involve The Fanatic, The Tracker and The Follower. The Follower represents a
group with a minimum voice. The follower playing the ukulele indicates that he is new to this sort of
work. The Follower learns to have a voice through the events he experienced throughout his journey.
Symbolism involves the burning of the ukulele. This conveys the perspective of the follower towards
what they are doing. The experience leads to him feeling unhappy and wanting to change. This draws
us into his experiences as we feel a strong connection because most of us have gone through this in
life. The Fanatic represents an aggressive and a controlling group. The Fanatic was so excessive with
finding the fugitive that he constantly mistreated the Tracker. Dialogue includes Sorry? You want to
feel sorry for someone, feel sorry for the pack horse. Now there s an innocent victim . This shows that
he was using The Tracker to find the fugitive and which he does not consider his inner emotions. The
audience is drawn to the Fanatic s experiences because his perspective is interesting and is different
compared to the others. We feel a part of the story because we want to stop the Fanatic from doing any
more harm. The Tracker

Pink Floyd s Impact On British Culture
Pink Floyd s Impact on British Culture
Pink Floyd is one of the most known Psychedelic Rock bands to ever exist. They were a game changer
within the music business and appeared countless times on British s top 100 list. Most of their music
including the album The Dark Side of the Moon had important political subject to talk about. They
were apart of the British Invasion (although the band itself originated from Cambridge London,
England).
Their name, roles within the band, and even the genre changed. The band had featured a lot of names
including Tea Set in their earliest years. Pink Floyd was named after two blues artist, Pink Anderson
and Floyd Council. Pink Floyd settled on originally Syd Barrett (vocals, guitarist), Roger ... Show

True music requires everything that Pink Floyd was capable of, and showed within multiple albums.
The difference between Pink Floyd and other bands is that they started their own type of music, while
most other bands will go with the most generic and overused melodies showed in countless rock
songs, that was not just in one specific area in the world. This British Invasion gave so much credit to
a lot of talented artist who just so happened to come from the Britain area. Because of this, this
changed a lot of styles in younger generations and the overall culture of Britain. Not everyone agreed
with the new trends but overall the norm of that time would eventually change and have history repeat
itself. In this scenario, Pink floyd is continuously influencing band and had a great run as a band.
The beginning of Pink Floyd was something Britain had never seen, and really shined light on this
band. Of course, they did not invent psychedelic rock by any means but did begin their own twist
within this genre. There was several bands in the US that had played this genre before Pink Floyd in
the late 1960 s. Their first official non live album was Piper at the Gates of Dawn, which Britain
considers this album a prime example of psychedelic rock. On August 4, 1967 this album was
released. The album showed avant music, such as whimsical rock all the way to melancholic rock.
Pink Floyd was not loyal to one specific genre, but ventured out beyond

Cloning And Its Implications On Human Cloning
Cloning and Its Sociobiological Implications
Picture this: walking down a street and seeing someone who looks exactly like you. They do the same
things as you, act the same way you do, and are exactly alike in several ways. But have people ever
considered the consequences of human cloning if it becomes permitted? Human cloning might seem
like something out of a science fiction novel, but it may someday be possible with advances in science
and technology. This will result in the creation of several ethical and moral issues for those in the field
of genetics. Cloning of a human is a great accomplishment in itself; in fact, it can be deemed as an
achievement of which people could have only dreamt of in their dreams. Cloning can be considered a
trite in the field of medicine as it has a lot of benefits such as; curing cancer, reversing heart attack,
and curing genetic diseases, etc. Although, potential of medical accidents in cloning is grossly
overstated, the cloning of human beings should not be prohibited.
The cloning era established its root when a sheep named Dolly was manufactured in 1996. She was
cloned using somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT). Since in her case the nucleus was removed from a
mammary gland cell she was named after Dolly Parton (Smith). Even though Dolly s birth was a
milestone in the engineering of animals for food and medicine, many people were disturbed with the
thought of human cloning, hence; religious, political, and scientific leaders condemned

Mending Wall Robert Frost Analysis

Professor Parker
ENG 202 01
20 November 2017
An Analysis of Frost s Mending Wall Mending Wall written by Robert Frost seems to take place in a
countryside estate. The speaker and his neighbor are fixing a wall together, which separates their
properties. Mending Wall is a poem that describes the relationship between two neighbors and idea of
maintaining barriers. This poem reflects how people make physical barriers and emotional barriers. A
barrier is an object that keeps something in or the unwanted out. The speaker wants to know why these
barriers are up. If we make a psycho analysis of the speaker through the present poem, we came to the
conclusion that the neighbour is no one but the inner self of the speaker (Srivastava 257). This wall is
nothing, but the gap between human beings on various aspects culturally, economically, and socially
(Srivastava 257). The wall is a basis for the many differences that people in our society have.
Throughout this poem, we see the speaker struggle to find a reason for having a wall that is separating
him from the neighbor. The speaker is valuing innovation over tradition. Although, the speaker is also
a man of tradition he is trying to rebel against the norms that frustrates him. The speaker does not
want a relationship with his neighbor. In line 1, Frost begins by saying Something there is that doesn t
love a wall . Frost seems to refer to something as anything in this world from humans to nature. This

Essay about Employee Turnover and Retention
Employee Turnover an Observation
When discussing employee turnover and retention the immediate reaction is to view turnover as a
negative and retention as a positive. Psychologists have been researching and documenting their
findings on the subject for over 50 years, mostly focusing on why people leave organizations (Staw,
1980, p. 253). One cannot deny there are organizational costs due to an employee s departure;
however, it would be naïve not to recognize there are benefits as well. Organizations must weigh the
costs of turnover, recognize the benefits, and strive to find a balance.
There is no debate that employee turnover results in some amount of accountable monetary expense.
Additionally, there are expenses that are difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shuffling all the necessary paperwork when employees are out processed and in processed, tasking
staff to organize and conduct hiring committees thereby pulling them away from their primary duties
has accountable costs. If turnover is relatively high even more costs can be associated with
organizations needing additional staff to specialize in employee recruitment and selection (Staw, 1980,
p. 255).
Costs to staff vacant positions are dependent on the amount of recruitment needed. If the labor market
is tight, finding qualified applicants may be difficult leaving the position vacant longer or requiring
the qualifications required to be reevaluated. Conversely, in a strong labor market the organization
may receive hundreds of applications from qualified individuals (Staw, 1980, p. 255).
When considering the cost of replacing employees, training is another consideration. Depending on
the complexity of the position, training may be formal, informal, or undefined. When professional
training is required there is a direct expense and an additional cost associated with lost business while
the training is being conducted (Dalton Todor, 1982, p. 215). Typically new hires for complex
positions have already completed formal training at their own expense (doctors, engineers,
programmers, etc.). Informal training is generally provided by co workers. The length of the training
is categorized by the complexity of the tasks. When positions are undefined, the new hire

The Detroit Lions
This won t be the most popular subject but here goes nothing... it s time to trade Calvin Johnson.
Before you start with the name calling and the bashing of my intellect, just hear me out and be open
minded for a second. Try to think unemotionally and recognize what is best for the future of the
Detroit Lions. There are far too many reasons to ship out our future Hall of famer and not enough
logical ones to keep him. Here are five explanations of why we should deal Megatron. 1. Calvin isn t
getting any younger and our window to win with him is all but closed. We are not going anywhere this
year and there is no point to exacerbate his attrition. His body has plenty of wear and tear and there s a
limited amount of time before Calvin s stock precipitously declines. It has been evident in recent
weeks that his speed and agility has diminished. Tackles that he used to break and defenders he used
to make miss are becoming a thing of the past. He is still fast for his massive frame, but no where near
the 4.35 speed that used to take slants and posts to the house. Calvin just had a dominant performance
against a weak and negligent Chicago Bears defense. This week would make for a perfect time to sell
high. We should cash in before his value is completely squandered away. The thread is thin on Calvin
s tires and it s just a matter of time before another nagging injury resurfaces. 2. Another problematic
facet is Calvin s price tag. Megatron still makes an average of more than two

Foreshadowing And Allusion In The American Nightmare
The language in the short story The American Nightmare by Priyam Misra convinces the reader that
accomplishing the American Dream and fitting in society is not easy for those that immigrated to the
United States. Through the use of foreshadowing and allusion, the reader is clued into the struggle for
American identity, like ... complete opposites in looks but they seemed to bond over things like boys,
AP classes, parents, and their favorite TV show, Pretty Little Liars, and Ben and Jerry s ice cream.
(Misra). This is also foreshadowing because, as the title hints, the story is about a nightmare; the
connotation of complete opposites hints that perhaps the girls aren t as close as the reader may think.

The Location Allocation Problem
There are three different variations of the location allocation problem being discussed in the articles.
The LAP can be seen below. Figure 1. Image of the Location Allocation Problem from [2], where EF
stands for existing facilities and NF stands new facilities. The first variation, global location allocation
problems, are what most large or cooperate businesses are dealing with today. Most businesses that are
looking to open new facilities are looking to either expand international or expand domestically, but
both require a global aspect. By combining AHP and GP, Badri created an efficient manner in which to
solve the added constraints of making the location allocation problem global. The analytical hierarchy
process was created by Saaty to add constraints into the LAP so that it is a global problem. Since the
global scale required additional regulations such as; political situations, global competition,
government regulations, and economic factors are added. This hierarchy is created to be able to give a
swift answer in a political environment where time is of the essence. The first thing that must be
established in the hierarchy is the goal, then the criteria, and lastly the alternative locations. This
problem requires the decision makers to apply weights to certain goals and locations. The decision
maker(s) have to place a weight or priority on each of the alternatives the criteria creates. The
weighing is given by equation 1 below. w_i^location=(w_1+w_2+⋯+w_n)

The Debate Over Time Federalism
America was once a confederacy from the year 1777, when it was ratified, and was replaced with the
Constitution Americans have today in 1789. America is now considered a country with a system of
government called federalism. America has three main components to their federalism, National
government, State government and Local government. The interaction between the National
Government and all the States governments have a set of guidelines found in our Constitution; While
state constitution sets the premise for State and local governments interactions. It is also important to
note that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land and that State and local governments are
subordinates to the direct amendments and regulations of our national constitution. Over time
federalism in America has changed. Different Presidents have different ideas on how the country
should be run. Should States have more rights? Should the National Government get involved with
state issues? On both sides of the political spectrum they have added their own touch to how our
nation works. Conservative presidents have tried to limit the size of national government and leave the
operation to the states believing that because state and local governments are more closely tied to the
people then those governments will have the right and more effective way to deal with said issues. On
the other hand, Liberal presidents have tried to increase the scope and size of the National government

The Importance Of Complementary And Alternative Medicine
ABSTRACT
Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is increasingly popular and widely used. The studies
and research on CAM is limited compared to the traditional medicine. There are conflicting
perspectives among healthcare professional regarding the use of CAM in mainstream health setting.
CAM therapies have been progressively emerged in conventional medicine. Thus, it is important for
nurses to understand it uses and safety measure in order to provide the effective nursing care.
Chang, H., Chang, H., (2015). A review of nurses knowledge, attitudes, and ability to communicate
the risks and benefits of complementary and alternative medicine. Journal of Clinical Nursing, 24(11
12), 1466 1478. doi:10.1111/jocn.12790
This journal article is a critical review of published research studies which consider the nurses use,
attitude, and knowledge regarding complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and their
competency in playing their roles as a nurse in this practice. This article finds that nurses have interest
and positive attitude toward CAM; however, their knowledge regarding the safety and effectiveness of
CAM remain limited. Findings from this study suggest that nurses need to increase their
understanding about CAM in order to provide an effective teaching and accurate information to
patients. This article is credible and significant in demonstrating the fact that further education is
needed for nurses in CAM practice.

easily seen nor displayed. In his essay, Panopticism, Foucault goes into detail about the different
disciplinary societies and how surveillance has become a big part of our lives today. He explains how
the disciplinary mechanisms have dramatically changed in comparison to the middle ages. Foucault
analyzes in particular the Panopticon, which was a blueprint of a disciplinary institution. The idea of

Foucault began to compare this new idea of surveillance, power and punishment of the Panopticon to
the power during the Middle Ages by the King which was more public in contrast to the Panopticon.
The Panopticon was more discrete. It was not a show or form of entertainment when someone was
punished unlike when someone is punished with the King. By exploring this, Foucault demonstrated
how surveillance has changed overtime.
Foucault s primary example of a disciplinary institution was the Panopticon planned by J. Bentham. It
was what seemed to be precise in the aspects of control, power, discipline, and isolation. It was for all
types of people such as a schoolboy, worker, sickly patient or a madman. It was created to stop all
foolishness. Inmates needed to be watched constantly to make sure that everything and everyone were
in order; therefore there was special architecture produced in order to accomplish that task. The
Panopticon was designed to be a circular building with a tower in the very center. The tower had big
windows in order for the guard to be able to see everything that the inmates were doing. The cells
were similar to a dungeon. They were very small and isolated. There was no communication between
each other nor could the inmates see or communicate with the guard. As Foucault asserted, Bentham
laid down the principle that power should be visible and

Mr Birling s Responsibility In An Inspector Calls

This type of anthrax is more common in northern Europe where heroin injecting drug users are
affected by it. Injection anthrax has never been reported in the United States. Doctors believe that
injection and cutaneous anthrax are similar when it comes to the symptoms. Injection anthrax can
spread throughout the body fast and be difficult to recognize and treat.
Causes of Anthrax: Anthrax spores are formed by anthrax bacteria that are found in soil in majority
parts of the world. The spores tend to hide for years until they find their way into a host. For example,
some hosts are wild or domestic livestock, such as sheep, cattle, horses and goats. Anthrax is rare in
the United States, but there are cases still going on in Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Pakistan, and sub Saharan
Africa. Humans that are diagnosed with anthrax is the result of being around animals or infected meat

States in 2001. 22 people were infected with anthrax after being exposed to spores sent through the

Appraisal of the Hallas, Banner and Wray s Study of the...
Introduction A qualitative study of the psychological experience of patients during and after
mechanical cardiac support by Hallas, Banner, and Wray (2009), is a study that evaluated the
psychological adjustment and quality of life of patients being treated for end stage heart failure with
ventricular support assist device (VAD) in situ compared with patients who underwent heart
transplantation or had the VAD removed. This critique will appraise the author s presentation of the
elements of the research study to include: the stated problem, purpose, research question, conceptual
framework, literature review, measures of concept, results reporting, sample and research design.

According to (Polit Beck, 2011), a problem statement articulates the problem and describes the need
for the study through the development of an argument. The researchers of this article have provided
the basis for the research study which is to identify necessary issues that research has left unresolved
in regards to the psychological well being that are affected by living with a VAD (Hallas et al., 2009).
Purpose
The purpose of this study is clearly stated in the article and the format is appropriate for this study. It
is presented as the aim of the study, which is to identify the psychological processes that patients use
to construct and make sense of their adjustment to a VAD and to determine whether the conceptual
construction of adjustment and well being in heart failure patients is consistent for patients with
different surgical outcomes (Hallas et al., 2009). The setting of the study is not clearly identified in the
purpose statement. However the setting is mentioned later in the article. The type of study is a
qualitative cross sectional study although it is not clearly stated in the purpose statement but it is stated
in the objectives.
Research Questions The research questions are not clearly stated in a question format; however, in the
introduction, the researcher states there has been scarce data related to the following statements and

empiricism Essay
Empiricism
Empiricism by nature is the belief that there is no knowledge without experience. How can one know
what something tastes like if they have never tasted it? For example, would someone know that an
apple is red if they have never actually have seen one. Someone can tell you an apple is red, but, if
you never have seen one, can you really be sure?
Empiricists use three anchor points in which they derive their opinions from. The first of these points
is; the only source of genuine knowledge is sense experience. An easier way to understand this is to
compare the mind to a clean sponge. As the sponge touches things, it takes with it, a piece of
everything it touches. Without this, the sponge would remain clean and be void of anything ... Show

Another of the classic empiricists is George Berkeley (1685 1753), who believes that knowledge is
possible. He believed that it was only through experience and not reason that we have knowledge of
reality (p.99). The best way to describe what Berkeley was trying to say would be found in what we
call today idealism. Idealism by definition is a position that maintains that ultimate reality is mental or
spiritual in nature. He believed that reality is made up in many individual minds rather than one
cosmic mind. Hence, when Berkeley says that we have an idea of something he is not necessarily
referring to a particular concept but to the experience of our memory of the combined ideas.
The third empiricist is David Hume (1711 1776) and he does not answer this question as easily as the
first two have. He believes that knowledge is possible but is limited by what we cannot know about
the world outside of our own experience. Since we can only know the contents of our individual
minds, knowledge would and can be different for each person. Hume believes that sensory data is key
for any individual in order to know something is real. For example, if two people were sitting together,
one possessing the ability to see and hear and the other does not, could the one the latter really know
that a car drove by and that fact that it was red? Examples like this one are why Hume

Persuasive Essay On Male Circumcision
In September of 1997, it became illegal in the united states to perform circumcisions on females
(Horowitz, 1997). However, to this day there is still a gender based human rights violation that has not
been protected by law. Male infants often undergo genital surgery that is not medically necessary.
Male circumcision is the only non therapeutic surgery performed on minors as an attempt to prevent
disease. It is my hope that one day, all newborns will be protected from having their genitals altered,
unless medically necessary. Many people become outraged at the thought of females being
circumcised, but are okay with circumcising males. The double standard in America is astonishing.
While other developed countries are trying to out this barbaric procedure and recommending parents
leave their babies intact, the U.S is still promoting this outdated and unnecessary surgery. There are no
medical organizations in the world that recommend routinely circumcising all infant males. The
Canadian pediatric society states The CPS does not recommend the routine circumcision of every
newborn male (Canadian paediatric). The Royal Australasian College of Physicians state: After
reviewing the currently available evidence, the RACP believes that the frequency of diseases
modifiable by circumcision, the level of protection offered by circumcision and the complication rates
of circumcision do not warrant routine infant circumcision in Australia and New Zealand. () There is

The Global Health Care System
There are many nonprofit, government groups that assist with or focus on international issues and
raise awareness for international countries that may need assistance, the most common assistance
today is health issues. Services that nonprofit, government groups assist with can range from
supplying water, food, vaccines, clothing, etc. All of this would include the undertaking of their health
and assisting with health issues that may arise from not having enough of these items or supplements
to live or lead a healthy lifestyle. Many of these organizations are non profit organizations and only
can survive to provide aide and services to the poverty level through charitable contributions. The
issue today with the global health care system is that the poverty level is so high in many
underdeveloped countries that only so much aide can be provided or depending on where aide does
need to be provided the resources are simply not available and resources are very limited in order to
make any improvement, water contamination is a major issue for many underdeveloped countries and
the spread of diseases at times can be very rapid. So speaking of organizations that provide health care

Archetypal Characters and Symbols in The Phantom of the Opera
The story of The Phantom of the Opera appeals to many types of personalities and people of all ages
because of its archetypal characters and patterns. Carl Jung theorized that we are born with innate
tendencies to perceive things a certain way: a kind of readiness to reproduce over and over again the
same or similar mythical ideas . . . 1. These repeated ideas are archetypes. The basic legend of The
Phantom takes place in 19th century Paris, and is that of a young and talented, but untrained singer
named Christine. Erik, the Phantom, is a disfigured genius of many fields, including music,
architecture, magic, and science. His fatal flaw stems from his ... Show more content on

The children s version, meant for 8 to 12 year olds, is the most like the original 1920s Gaston Leroux
version. One of the few things that is changed, other than the overall abbreviation of the novel, is
simplification of the language. For example, Erik begins describing himself by saying, I was ugly.
Worse than ugly 3. This straightforward, childlike language puts the novel at the preteen reading level
while preserving Erik s crucial description. The Phantom of the Opera is the most popular book in
Random House Publishing s youth Bullseye Chiller series, above other tales of vampires, werewolves,
mummies, and witches4. Even children can identify with the love triangle among the three main
characters Erik, Christine and Raoul. They probably still pity his unrequited love for Christine, and the
way in which he was mistreated. Night Magic, another adaptation, is much lighter reading and aimed
at a different audience than the more literary variations. Night Magic is the modern day romance
version of Phantom, spanning two decades. Erik becomes a reclusive scarred contractor, and Christine
is now Marisa, a spoiled and orphaned teenager with a beautiful voice. The traditional Erik kills
without a thought when he feels threatened, while Erik s most raging moment in Night Magic consists
of him throwing a stool across the room when a client has been flirtatious with Marisa5. This
adaptation is lacking the dangerous side of Erik, so as not to scare

Sally Lockhart Essay
Introduction There is a variety of ways that Philip Pullman has presented Sally Lockhart. Firstly, Sally
is portrayed as brave because she is really independent: her father is dead, tough/a strong women as
she could stand up for herself and was able to look after herself especially since she was only 16 years
old and the book was based in the Victorian Era therefore, there was a bit of sexism, saying that only
male s could do certain things. Pullman also shows the reader that Sally is very mature and intelligent.
Throughout the opening chapters, Pullman introduces us to a nightmare that Sally has about her father
and the description makes her seem so intriguing because she was a person who didn t need company

This is because everyone treasures the ruby and wants to have it so badly able to sacrifice for it and
when Sally is in possession of the ruby; she does not value it as the others do. This is implied in the
quote in the centre of the crumpled whiteness was a dome of blood. It was hard and cold. The dome of
blood resembles the danger of the ruby; Sally does not have the need to feel that this is something,
which she must treasure like the others who have been intoxicated by it. Instead, it is just shown by
the adjectives used: hard, and cold. The repetition of and, puts emphasis on each description of the
ruby, showing how empty of emotion it is to Sally. Mrs Holland was so obstinate that she wanted the
ruby; she ends up dying after telling Sally all the information she wanted to know. She wanted to
know how her father died and why, and this is when she finds out that her real father was Major
Marchbanks. Mrs Holland died because she jumped into the river with the ruby that Sally threw it
into. The ruby mesmerized Major Marchbanks and he wanted to trade the ruby for Sally when she was
a little baby. Captain Lockhart thought that Major Marchbanks was a coward and so he decided to be
the father of Sally, as she would have died. In chapter 19, she finds herself shooting the man that
killed her father Hendrik Van Eeden or Ah Ling. You can see that she bottles

Anne Carson s Lessons
Anne Carson is a very intelligent and well rounded writer. When I first read Anne Carson s Short Talks
, I was seriously confused. At first, I thought she was an abstract writer that wrote just to write. But
then I took a second look at her work and realized there was much more to it than just crazy jumbled
ideas. Short Talks is a mixture of many elements. It has argumentation, facts, personal opinions, and
an unconventional way of writing.
As I was rereading the Short Talks , I noticed names, facts, and a lesson to go along with each Short

Elektra took this very hard, so she and her brother Orestes plotted revenge against her mother and step
father. Elektra s father had been against things like this, but Elektra became so bitter she began to
commit many crimes. So this short talk helps us decide between what is major and minor in our life.
This helps to keep from overreacting over the small things in life.
Another lesson comes from the short talk On Reading. This takes the reader back to their childhood.
No, not everyone enjoys reading, but it is also great for you. In this short talk I got the imagery that
this little girl was on a road trip with her parents, her father does not enjoy reading but she does. So
while on the way to their destination, she reads Madame Bovary. While reading she takes a moment to
look around at the sights passing through the window. This just gets the reader to truly think and
assess the way they perceive the way they view reading. Having someone who enjoys reading, and
someone who finds no pleasure in reading is what makes the world go round. Not everyone
appreciates, or finds interest in the same things, but do not discourage anyone if you have no interest
in it.
If I were to write some short talks I could use an Anne Carson like writing style, or writing that flows
eloquently. I would try to help the reader to understand what is being said, but to also think about what
is before them. I would include an introduction in my short talks

2 Corinthians 7-18
This study of 2 Corinthians 4:7 18 aims to explain each verse within the passage. Special emphasis is
placed on the jars of clay language seen in verse seven. In order to understand the point of scripture
being discussed, background knowledge about the author, time, place, culture, literary form, and
themes will be examined. A focus on Paul s apostleship being closely related to suffering and hope
will also be reviewed. Paul, wrote the second letter to the Corinthians. According to Harris (1976),
some scholars argue that authorship of 2 Corinthians is indisputably Pauline, or that the current form
of the text is original to Paul (Harris, 1975). It is unclear how this letter found its way into that
canonical text that we have today (Oden, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In verse seven, Paul talks about treasure in jars of clay. Clay jars did not have a long lifespan (Scott,
2003). These clay jars that Paul referred to were cheap, fragile jars that had no enduring value. Once
the jar had been damaged there was no hope for repair (Furnish, 1985). Paul suggested the clay jars to
be similar in the same way man was formed. As mentioned in Genesis, we were created from dust, and
to dust we will return. In the same way, this is true for the clay jars Paul spoke of (Scott, 2003). This
jars of clay language was in response to Paul s physical body. The image of this jar provides an
illusion to the weakness of human nature. Human flesh is no better than the earth ware mentioned
because flesh is inevitably destroyed by death (Oden, 1999). Some scholars say that Paul refers to this
treasure within the clay jar his apostolic ministry. Bridges (1989), suggest the fragility of the clay pot
could be tending to the strained relationship between Paul and the church in Corinth. This would
further mean that his ministry was fragile because it was surrounded by affliction (Lambrecht, 1999).
Other scholars say this treasure was the sacrament of God being in Christ. The treasure is made
available to believers, but is covered by a veil to those who do not believe. The treasure is tucked
away in a believer s heart (Oden, 1999). Paul used this metaphor to show that because of the weakness
of humans, nothing is possible unless a follower has been empowered by God. God s power is found
in human weakness (Harris, 1976). This treasure Paul speaks of can be traced back to verse six, where
he talks about the power to lift humans out of their powerlessness does not come from themselves, but
from the divine power of God. If the treasure of this knowledge had been contained, it could have
been destructive due to human pride (Barnett, 1997). The treasure may also refer to the

Examples Of Intertextuality In The Walking Dead
Another post modern element of The Walking Dead is its intertextuality. It borrows from Romero and
ingrains itself in the survivalist genre given impetus by 9/11 but it also draws inspiration from
Westerns. Rick is representative of the Sherriff with his dress codes and values. He sports a sheriff hat,
hoister and is intent about keeping the law. The series poster emulates the western genre as Rick rides
a horse amongst a congestion of cars. Walkers are referred to as herds. Western narratives typically

Christianity has dropped in the UK from 71.7% to 59.3% between 2001 and 2011 and is only
weakening while secularism is strong. This breakdown of our society is embodied in The Walking
Dead. The title of the episode is Were Not Too Far Gone which forms only an illusion of hope because
we see the survivors walk towards an inevitable fate that is played out in every season. The trial and
error, instability of equilibrium effect, depicts optimism as worthless. We note the similarity in the
series to reality, which in turn inaugurates a hopeless mentality.
The representations of certain characters emulate our moral panics. Rick is a police officer, the voice
of law and order, he possess a lot more power than his counterparts do. The audience are positioned to

peace that issues arise. In addition, troops have been overrun and the government that once ensured
their safety has turned corrupt and failed. The fear of an oppressive/careless government is the top fear
of 2017. As we see this in the representation of The Governor a parallel to our social climate can be
met. We become

One of the most emotional taxing yet gratifying parts of raising a deaf child is that the mother is

A Common Understanding Of Weather Menace
1. What is fog? A common understanding of this weather menace must be established before delving
into its dangers. Layman s terms suggest that fog is a low hovering cloud which limits the visibility at
ground level in a wide variety of intensity. From personal experience, fog may prevent you from
locating your own home, or may simply cause the air to feel moist. Fog forms when the difference
between air temperature and dew point is generally less than 4 °F. Fog begins to form when water
vapor condenses into tiny liquid water droplets suspended in the air, usually also clinging to pollutants
or naturally occurring particles (ex: dust, salt, etc.) Water vapor is added to the air by: wind

Goldman And Sachs Case Summary
The problem to be investigated is looking into shades of gray when it comes to ethical behavior. For
years, companies have been operating within the law yet displayed very questionable behavior.
Companies like Goldman and Sachs utilizing questionable trading techniques in order to gain a
financial profit while leaving behind companies in the dust and eliminating hundreds if not thousands
of jobs in the process. Ethics is more than doing what s right or wrong. It s a way of life and how we
can have an effect on others.
Question 1: Go back through the case and make a list of each action or practice that could be called a
gray area.
The Layering Strategy: This was formulated in the late 1920 as a way to utilize one company s money

Involvement in Auction Rate Markets: These securities that were touted as mutual fund grades with a
higher yield. Their clients would bid on securities being sold through a once per month auction that
the investment firms were selling. What their clients did not know is that their own investment
advisers were bidding up the value of the instruments. The prices were reset weekly based on the
demand, but the investment firms were creating that demand through their bids, bids that they never
intended to execute because their clients would always bid more.
Betting agent their own clients?: In January 2010, Goldman Sachs admitted that it often made
recommendations to clients that it had already positioned itself to profit from. Goldman also pointed
out that its memo read in part, we may trade, and have existing positions, based on trading ideas
before we have discussed those ideas with you. The disclosure of Goldman client contra positions had
appeared in the fine print in Goldman s marketing materials, but the memo represented the first time
that Goldman had discussed it openly with its clients. Experts indicate that Goldman was disclosing its
conflict as a way of managing client relationships and trading positions. One expert has noted that the
way the markets have evolved, client and investment firm relationships are laden with conflict of
interest.
The 2008 Bail Out: Goldman received $10 billion from the U.S.

The African American Labor Market
from leasing out laborers to desperate white southerners who needed to upkeep their crops and coal
mines.
Although some economic historians (DeCanio, Higgs; 1975, 1977) have concluded that laws aimed at
repressing blacks were largely ineffective because of economic competition amongst blacks, Jennifer
Roback of the University of Chicago Law Review asserts that the convict lease system served as a
exploitive byproduct of white southerners desire to proclaim economic dominance over the African
American labor market. The motives of lessees were not solely economically driven they were racially
discriminatory practices with the intent of keeping African Americans as subservient citizens. Along
the way, white southerners realized that they could use large groups of criminalized African
Americans to build infrastructure, such as railroads, to mine coal and iron, make turpentine, clear land,
and of course, grow cotton. Similarly, state governments realized that they could economically profit
while socially benefiting from having African Americans off the streets and back on plantations. Since
nearly all convicts were black, few whites cared about what happened to them. And if the supply of
convicts fell below the demand, legislators and sheriffs stood ready to increase the supply.
In a sense, pig laws, vagrancy laws, and convict leasing served as negative incentives to freed persons
who were hesitant to enter into labor contracts that offered low pay, long hours, and poor

Designing A Network For Delta Insurance Company
Introduction
I will be designing a network for Delta Insurance Company with four offices each in Liverpool,
Manchester, Leeds and York. And I will be following the requirements detailed below. I will also be
talking about the screenshots of my Design in this report.
Part 1: (10 Marks)
You must design an IP version 4 addressing scheme that will accommodate the LANs and WAN links
between the offices. The LANs and WANs should use a single public class C IP address of
197.120.45.0 that has been sub netted using Variable Length Subnet Masks.
Here you can see that I have designed my own IP addressing scheme from class C 197.120.45.0 that
has been sub netted using Variable Subnet Masks, which you can see that I have created a table for
each Hosts and IP address/Subnet masks.

Cost Of Industrialization
Industrialization is the development of industries in a country or region. There were both costs and
benefits of industrialization in the Industrial Revolution. The costs of industrialization, there was a lot
of child labor and the factories were very unhealthy for anyone who worked in them. There were a lot
of benefits as well. It made the cities grow in population, and it needed a new form of transportation
therefore the railroads were created. The advantages do outweigh the disadvantages but not how they
were back then.
The benefits of industrialization are a big deal, creation of railroads and the cities grew. These are two
things that are still very useful in today s time. In the World History Textbook, written by Spielvogel,
he writes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the World History textbook it says, factory owners sometimes sought entire families, including
children, to work in their factories (Spielvogel 366). In today s time, child labor is against the law.
Children should not be working in factories because they re small and they could get hurt very easily.
Another cost would be that the factories were very unhealthy for anyone who worked there. The
textbook states, industrial workers faced wretched working conditions. Work hours ranged from 12 to
16 hours a day, six hours a week (Spielvogel 369). That means they only get one day off and they don
t get to sleep very much. The textbook describes cotton mills to be the worst factories, the worst
conditions were in the cotton mills, where the temperatures were especially harmful (367). The cotton
mills were very dangerous for the people who worked there and even children worked in them.
The benefits of industrialization do not outweigh the costs, as they were back then. Nothing can
outweigh child labor or how unhealthy the factories are. Children were working in the factories and
that in itself is bad, but with the factories being extremely unhealthy, it made it way worse for them. If
industrialization happened it today s time, where child labor is illegal and they do health inspections,
then the benefits would outweigh the

Eugenics Is A Theory Of Eugenics
During the late 19th and early 20th century a popular new theory started to spread. Based in the ideas
of Charles Darwin, the theory of eugenics came about. During its time, it was embraced almost
unanimously throughout the world. This theory had very few objectors to the practice of eugenics. But
what is eugenics anyways? Why was it poplar exactly? And what were its impacts on the world we
live in today? Eugenics is a theory that had many different reasons for being popular, and many
differing impact on our world today. Eugenics is an interesting topic that could be said to have taken
the world by storm in the late 19th and early 20th century, and exploring its meaning, popularity, and
impacts is too. Eugenics, simply put, is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, after Galton released his research many found the theory interesting.
Interesting enough that eugenics became an academic subject taught and researched at a multitude of
colleges and universities. This research at colleges and universities were given funding from various
sources such as the rich and government. There were even three International Eugenics Conferences
which gave a global location for eugenicists where they could meet. With gatherings in 1912 in
London, and in 1921 and 1932 in New York. This interest in eugenics was not only limited to the
academic world (Haller)(Bashford).
Eugenic policies began being employed during the early 20th century in the United States. Later, in
the 1920s and 30s, eugenic policies were applied in other countries, comprising Belgium, Canada,
Japan, and many others (Adams). The policies and programs were mainly implemented in different
degrees around the world include, genetic screening, birth control, marriage restrictions, segregation
of both race and the mentally ill, obligatory sterilization, forced abortions and pregnancies, and
genocide(Bashford). Many different groups of people were targeted by these policies. Those who were
targeted included the poor, mentally ill, blind, deaf, disabled, promiscuous women, homosexuals, and
racial groups the most notable racial groups targeted were the Jews and Gypsies during the holocaust
(Dikotter).
As a social movement, eugenics reached its greatest

  • 2. Text Analytics And Natural Language Processing IV. SENTIMENT ANALYSIS A. The Sentiment analysis process i) Collection of data ii) Preparation of the text iii) Detecting the sentiments iv) Classifying the sentiment v) Output i) Collection of data: the first step in sentiment analysis involves collection of data from user. These data are disorganized, expressed in different ways by using different vocabularies, slangs, context of writing etc. Manual analysis is almost impossible. Therefore, text analytics and natural language processing are used to extract and classify[11]. ii) Preparation of the text : This step involves cleaning of the extracted data before analyzing it. Here non textual and irrelevant content for the analysis are identified and discarded iii) Detecting the sentiments: All the extracted sentences of the views and opinions are studied. From this sentences with subjective expressions which involves opinions, beliefs and view are retained back whereas sentences with objective communication i.e facts, factual information are discarded iv) Classifying the sentiment: Here, subjective sentences are classified as positive, negative, or good, bad or like, dislike[1] v) Output: The main objective of sentiment analysis is to convert unstructured text into meaningful data. When the analysis is finished, the text results are displayed on graphs in the form of pie chart, bar chart and line graphs. Also time can be analyzed and can be graphically displayed constructing a sentiment time line with the chosen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Difference Between Whites And Native Americans The United States saw themselves superior to the Native Americans in all ways. One of these superiorities included the social stance between the whites and the Indians. In the winter of 1811 Tecumseh preached to the Osages, The white men despise and cheat the Indians; they abuse and insult them; they do not think the red men sufficiently good to live. The Natives begin to realize that they have always been mistreated by the whites and understand that they are seen as inferior towards the whites. This is similar to John Ross s experience; he was once liked very much by many white men, until after he married a white woman. Their marriage aroused harsh anger and he soon became disliked by the white man for taking a woman of their race. The riot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Effects Of Uv On Its Effect On Human Behavior The second part of the study was trying to determine the effects of UV rays in regards to prodigiosin production. When defined, evolution is a change over time with respect to S. marcescens and the change in its genetic components over time [Reviewed by Kelly]. Stemming from evolution, natural selection is often fostered by the addition of a selective pressure, and in this case it is the UV light. Selective pressures are created to put stress on the organism which in the end will determine which organisms survived and which did not. To begin the second part of our study, we began by exposing S. marcescens, using a germicidal lamp, to wavelengths of UV light between 260 270nm [Reviewed by Kelly]. Germicidal lamps reduce the microbial populations, giving us a more accurate reading. UV light is used to either induce growth or inhibit growth or kill bacteria by affecting the bacteria s DNA structure in chromosomes that cause mutations in its gene sequence [5, 14]. In this range of wavelengths (260nm 270nm), the DNA s purine and pyrimidine bases strongly absorb UV radiation [Reviewed by Kelly]. The bases that make up DNA consist of thymine, cytosine, guanine, and adenine. There are times where a pyrimidine is paired up with another pyrimidine, which causes the formation of an abnormal four carbon bond between their adjacent carbons [Reviewed by Kelly]. These four carbon bonds together make a structure called a pyrimidine dimer which is when the dimer is not able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Disadvantages Of Mantis Shrimp To many owner having saltwater aquarium, live rock is one of the essential things which set the natural tone for the whole tank besides fish and turtles. Not only does the collection of the colorful live rocks beautifies one s tank but also provides shelters for the fish and filters the whole tank. However, everything has a good side and the bad one. The addition of live rocks to the tank may have some potential drawbacks, for not every organism living on those marine rocks is important, and even some of them are disadvantageous to the tank itself. One exemplary unwanted organism which lives on live rocks is the Mantis Shrimp, which maybe accidentally introduced to the tank through the addition of live rocks. Mantis shrimp, which is a varicolored creature living in the Indian and Pacific Oceans, is an extraordinary pet, for not only does it colorful body impresses the people but also its powerful appendages, which are a nightmare to crabs, gastropods, and almost all other animals in the sea. Due to its interesting feature, many people at the present favor this species. In addition, some people even want to adopt the mantis shrimps as their pets; nevertheless, there are many hardships coming along with this desire. As a growing infant who can mess up with everything within his or her reach, the mantis shrimp can eat up its neighboring organisms and some marine plants in the tank. The mantis shrimp is well known by many scientists for its powerful weapon the raptorial appendages which is equipped for the sake of its survival. It is this feature of the shrimp that makes it a strong hunter in the nature. Due to this feature, especially the one owned by the Smasher species of the Mantis Shrimp, the shrimp has no trouble breaking preys with tough shells such as crabs and snails. In addition to the raptorial appendages, the mantis shrimp can swim insanely fast, thereby boiling water around it. While one may be surprised by these qualities, other organisms living around it. Because of its powerful weapon, hunting nature, and the ability to boil through the act of swimming, the mantis shrimp may be capable of eating every fish in the tank and killing them by increasing the temperature of water. • 6. The Tracker Analysis The different perspectives create interest and draw us into the experiences of others. The two texts, The Tracker composed by Rolf De Heer and Bran Nue Dae composed by Rachel Perkins explores this notion. Both films are evident to the racial discrimination of Aborigines in Australia. The Tracker is a 2002 art house film set in 1922. It is clear that there were no Aboriginal rights and which white settlement had the greatest control. Bran Nue Dae is a 2009 musical/comedy/drama film set in 1969 about the beginning of Aboriginal rights. The different perspectives are from Colonial/Indigenous people. The voices were through the role of the characters, the genre, the music and the cinematography. The Archetypal characters in The Tracker include The Follower, The Fanatic, The Veteran, The Fugitive and The Tracker. Each character represents a different voice of a group within society. The voices express the issue of race and racial inequality towards Aboriginals. The three main archetypal characters involve The Fanatic, The Tracker and The Follower. The Follower represents a group with a minimum voice. The follower playing the ukulele indicates that he is new to this sort of work. The Follower learns to have a voice through the events he experienced throughout his journey. Symbolism involves the burning of the ukulele. This conveys the perspective of the follower towards what they are doing. The experience leads to him feeling unhappy and wanting to change. This draws us into his experiences as we feel a strong connection because most of us have gone through this in life. The Fanatic represents an aggressive and a controlling group. The Fanatic was so excessive with finding the fugitive that he constantly mistreated the Tracker. Dialogue includes Sorry? You want to feel sorry for someone, feel sorry for the pack horse. Now there s an innocent victim . This shows that he was using The Tracker to find the fugitive and which he does not consider his inner emotions. The audience is drawn to the Fanatic s experiences because his perspective is interesting and is different compared to the others. We feel a part of the story because we want to stop the Fanatic from doing any more harm. The Tracker ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Pink Floyd s Impact On British Culture Pink Floyd s Impact on British Culture Pink Floyd is one of the most known Psychedelic Rock bands to ever exist. They were a game changer within the music business and appeared countless times on British s top 100 list. Most of their music including the album The Dark Side of the Moon had important political subject to talk about. They were apart of the British Invasion (although the band itself originated from Cambridge London, England). Their name, roles within the band, and even the genre changed. The band had featured a lot of names including Tea Set in their earliest years. Pink Floyd was named after two blues artist, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. True music requires everything that Pink Floyd was capable of, and showed within multiple albums. The difference between Pink Floyd and other bands is that they started their own type of music, while most other bands will go with the most generic and overused melodies showed in countless rock songs, that was not just in one specific area in the world. This British Invasion gave so much credit to a lot of talented artist who just so happened to come from the Britain area. Because of this, this changed a lot of styles in younger generations and the overall culture of Britain. Not everyone agreed with the new trends but overall the norm of that time would eventually change and have history repeat itself. In this scenario, Pink floyd is continuously influencing band and had a great run as a band. The beginning of Pink Floyd was something Britain had never seen, and really shined light on this band. Of course, they did not invent psychedelic rock by any means but did begin their own twist within this genre. There was several bands in the US that had played this genre before Pink Floyd in the late 1960 s. Their first official non live album was Piper at the Gates of Dawn, which Britain considers this album a prime example of psychedelic rock. On August 4, 1967 this album was released. The album showed avant music, such as whimsical rock all the way to melancholic rock. Pink Floyd was not loyal to one specific genre, but ventured out beyond ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Cloning And Its Implications On Human Cloning Cloning and Its Sociobiological Implications Picture this: walking down a street and seeing someone who looks exactly like you. They do the same things as you, act the same way you do, and are exactly alike in several ways. But have people ever considered the consequences of human cloning if it becomes permitted? Human cloning might seem like something out of a science fiction novel, but it may someday be possible with advances in science and technology. This will result in the creation of several ethical and moral issues for those in the field of genetics. Cloning of a human is a great accomplishment in itself; in fact, it can be deemed as an achievement of which people could have only dreamt of in their dreams. Cloning can be considered a trite in the field of medicine as it has a lot of benefits such as; curing cancer, reversing heart attack, and curing genetic diseases, etc. Although, potential of medical accidents in cloning is grossly overstated, the cloning of human beings should not be prohibited. The cloning era established its root when a sheep named Dolly was manufactured in 1996. She was cloned using somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT). Since in her case the nucleus was removed from a mammary gland cell she was named after Dolly Parton (Smith). Even though Dolly s birth was a milestone in the engineering of animals for food and medicine, many people were disturbed with the thought of human cloning, hence; religious, political, and scientific leaders condemned ... • 10. Mending Wall Robert Frost Analysis Tierra Nick Professor Parker ENG 202 01 20 November 2017 An Analysis of Frost s Mending Wall Mending Wall written by Robert Frost seems to take place in a countryside estate. The speaker and his neighbor are fixing a wall together, which separates their properties. Mending Wall is a poem that describes the relationship between two neighbors and idea of maintaining barriers. This poem reflects how people make physical barriers and emotional barriers. A barrier is an object that keeps something in or the unwanted out. The speaker wants to know why these barriers are up. If we make a psycho analysis of the speaker through the present poem, we came to the conclusion that the neighbour is no one but the inner self of the speaker (Srivastava 257). This wall is nothing, but the gap between human beings on various aspects culturally, economically, and socially (Srivastava 257). The wall is a basis for the many differences that people in our society have. Throughout this poem, we see the speaker struggle to find a reason for having a wall that is separating him from the neighbor. The speaker is valuing innovation over tradition. Although, the speaker is also a man of tradition he is trying to rebel against the norms that frustrates him. The speaker does not want a relationship with his neighbor. In line 1, Frost begins by saying Something there is that doesn t love a wall . Frost seems to refer to something as anything in this world from humans to nature. This ... • 12. Essay about Employee Turnover and Retention Employee Turnover an Observation When discussing employee turnover and retention the immediate reaction is to view turnover as a negative and retention as a positive. Psychologists have been researching and documenting their findings on the subject for over 50 years, mostly focusing on why people leave organizations (Staw, 1980, p. 253). One cannot deny there are organizational costs due to an employee s departure; however, it would be naïve not to recognize there are benefits as well. Organizations must weigh the costs of turnover, recognize the benefits, and strive to find a balance. There is no debate that employee turnover results in some amount of accountable monetary expense. Additionally, there are expenses that are difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shuffling all the necessary paperwork when employees are out processed and in processed, tasking staff to organize and conduct hiring committees thereby pulling them away from their primary duties has accountable costs. If turnover is relatively high even more costs can be associated with organizations needing additional staff to specialize in employee recruitment and selection (Staw, 1980, p. 255). Costs to staff vacant positions are dependent on the amount of recruitment needed. If the labor market is tight, finding qualified applicants may be difficult leaving the position vacant longer or requiring the qualifications required to be reevaluated. Conversely, in a strong labor market the organization may receive hundreds of applications from qualified individuals (Staw, 1980, p. 255). When considering the cost of replacing employees, training is another consideration. Depending on the complexity of the position, training may be formal, informal, or undefined. When professional training is required there is a direct expense and an additional cost associated with lost business while the training is being conducted (Dalton Todor, 1982, p. 215). Typically new hires for complex positions have already completed formal training at their own expense (doctors, engineers, programmers, etc.). Informal training is generally provided by co workers. • 13. The Detroit Lions This won t be the most popular subject but here goes nothing... it s time to trade Calvin Johnson. Before you start with the name calling and the bashing of my intellect, just hear me out and be open minded for a second. Try to think unemotionally and recognize what is best for the future of the Detroit Lions. There are far too many reasons to ship out our future Hall of famer and not enough logical ones to keep him. Here are five explanations of why we should deal Megatron. 1. Calvin isn t getting any younger and our window to win with him is all but closed. We are not going anywhere this year and there is no point to exacerbate his attrition. His body has plenty of wear and tear and there s a limited amount of time before Calvin s stock precipitously declines. It has been evident in recent weeks that his speed and agility has diminished. Tackles that he used to break and defenders he used to make miss are becoming a thing of the past. He is still fast for his massive frame, but no where near the 4.35 speed that used to take slants and posts to the house. Calvin just had a dominant performance against a weak and negligent Chicago Bears defense. This week would make for a perfect time to sell high. We should cash in before his value is completely squandered away. The thread is thin on Calvin s tires and it s just a matter of time before another nagging injury resurfaces. 2. Another problematic facet is Calvin s price tag. Megatron still makes an average of more than two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. The Location Allocation Problem There are three different variations of the location allocation problem being discussed in the articles. The LAP can be seen below. Figure 1. Image of the Location Allocation Problem from [2], where EF stands for existing facilities and NF stands new facilities. The first variation, global location allocation problems, are what most large or cooperate businesses are dealing with today. Most businesses that are looking to open new facilities are looking to either expand international or expand domestically, but both require a global aspect. By combining AHP and GP, Badri created an efficient manner in which to solve the added constraints of making the location allocation problem global. The analytical hierarchy process was created by Saaty to add constraints into the LAP so that it is a global problem. Since the global scale required additional regulations such as; political situations, global competition, government regulations, and economic factors are added. This hierarchy is created to be able to give a swift answer in a political environment where time is of the essence. The first thing that must be established in the hierarchy is the goal, then the criteria, and lastly the alternative locations. This problem requires the decision makers to apply weights to certain goals and locations. The decision maker(s) have to place a weight or priority on each of the alternatives the criteria creates. The weighing is given by equation 1 below. w_i^location=(w_1+w_2+⋯+w_n) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

America is now considered a country with a system of government called federalism. America has three main components to their federalism, National government, State government and Local government. The interaction between the National Government and all the States governments have a set of guidelines found in our Constitution; While state constitution sets the premise for State and local governments interactions. It is also important to note that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land and that State and local governments are subordinates to the direct amendments and regulations of our national constitution. Over time federalism in America has changed. Different Presidents have different ideas on how the country should be run. Should States have more rights? Should the National Government get involved with state issues? On both sides of the political spectrum they have added their own touch to how our nation works. Conservative presidents have tried to limit the size of national government and leave the operation to the states believing that because state and local governments are more closely tied to the people then those governments will have the right and more effective way to deal with said issues. This article finds that nurses have interest and positive attitude toward CAM; however, their knowledge regarding the safety and effectiveness of CAM remain limited. Findings from this study suggest that nurses need to increase their understanding about CAM in order to provide an effective teaching and accurate information to patients. This article is credible and significant in demonstrating the fact that further education is needed for nurses in CAM practice. Haller, J. J. (2014). Shadow medicine: The ... By this, he means that our society is full of constant supervision that is not easily seen nor displayed. In his essay, Panopticism, Foucault goes into detail about the different disciplinary societies and how surveillance has become a big part of our lives today. He explains how the disciplinary mechanisms have dramatically changed in comparison to the middle ages. Foucault analyzes in particular the Panopticon, which was a blueprint of a disciplinary institution. The idea of this institution was for inmates to be seen but not to see. Foucault began to compare this new idea of surveillance, power and punishment of the Panopticon to the power during the Middle Ages by the King which was more public in contrast to the Panopticon. The Panopticon was more discrete. It was not a show or form of entertainment when someone was punished unlike when someone is punished with the King. By exploring this, Foucault demonstrated how surveillance has changed overtime. Foucault s primary example of a disciplinary institution was the Panopticon planned by J. Bentham. It was what seemed to be precise in the aspects of control, power, discipline, and isolation. It was for all types of people such as a schoolboy, worker, sickly patient or a madman. It was created to stop all foolishness. Inmates needed to be watched constantly to make sure that everything and everyone were in order; therefore there was special architecture produced in order to accomplish that task. The Panopticon was designed to be a circular building with a tower in the very center. The tower had big windows in order for the guard to be able to see everything that the inmates were doing. The cells were similar to a dungeon. They were very small and isolated. There was no communication between each other nor could the inmates see or communicate with the guard. For example, would someone know that an apple is red if they have never actually have seen one. Someone can tell you an apple is red, but, if you never have seen one, can you really be sure? Empiricists use three anchor points in which they derive their opinions from. The first of these points is; the only source of genuine knowledge is sense experience. An easier way to understand this is to compare the mind to a clean sponge. As the sponge touches things, it takes with it, a piece of everything it touches. Another of the classic empiricists is George Berkeley (1685 1753), who believes that knowledge is possible. He believed that it was only through experience and not reason that we have knowledge of reality (p.99). The best way to describe what Berkeley was trying to say would be found in what we call today idealism. Idealism by definition is a position that maintains that ultimate reality is mental or spiritual in nature. He believed that reality is made up in many individual minds rather than one cosmic mind. Hence, when Berkeley says that we have an idea of something he is not necessarily referring to a particular concept but to the experience of our memory of the combined ideas. The third empiricist is David Hume (1711 1776) and he does not answer this question as easily as the first two have. He believes that knowledge is possible but is limited by what we cannot know about the world outside of our own experience. Since we can only know the contents of our individual minds, knowledge would and can be different for each person. Hume believes that sensory data is key for any individual in order to know something is real. Male circumcision is the only non therapeutic surgery performed on minors as an attempt to prevent disease. It is my hope that one day, all newborns will be protected from having their genitals altered, unless medically necessary. Many people become outraged at the thought of females being circumcised, but are okay with circumcising males. The double standard in America is astonishing. In order to understand the point of scripture being discussed, background knowledge about the author, time, place, culture, literary form, and themes will be examined. A focus on Paul s apostleship being closely related to suffering and hope will also be reviewed. Paul, wrote the second letter to the Corinthians. According to Harris (1976), some scholars argue that authorship of 2 Corinthians is indisputably Pauline, or that the current form of the text is original to Paul (Harris, 1975). It is unclear how this letter found its way into that canonical text that we have today (Oden, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In verse seven, Paul talks about treasure in jars of clay. Clay jars did not have a long lifespan (Scott, 2003). These clay jars that Paul referred to were cheap, fragile jars that had no enduring value. Once the jar had been damaged there was no hope for repair (Furnish, 1985). Paul suggested the clay jars to be similar in the same way man was formed. As mentioned in Genesis, we were created from dust, and to dust we will return. In the same way, this is true for the clay jars Paul spoke of (Scott, 2003). This jars of clay language was in response to Paul s physical body. The image of this jar provides an illusion to the weakness of human nature. Human flesh is no better than the earth ware mentioned because flesh is inevitably destroyed by death (Oden, 1999). Some scholars say that Paul refers to this treasure within the clay jar his apostolic ministry. Bridges (1989), suggest the fragility of the clay pot could be tending to the strained relationship between Paul and the church in Corinth. This would further mean that his ministry was fragile because it was surrounded by affliction (Lambrecht, 1999). Other scholars say this treasure was the sacrament of God being in Christ. The treasure is made available to believers, but is covered by a veil to those who do not believe. The treasure is tucked away in a believer s heart (Oden, 1999). Paul used this metaphor to show that because of the weakness of humans, nothing is possible unless a follower has been empowered by God. God s power is found in human weakness (Harris, 1976). This treasure Paul speaks of can be traced back to verse six, where he talks about the power to lift humans out of their powerlessness does not come from themselves, but from the divine power of God. Studies have also shown that the time following a child s diagnosis can be particularly trying on husbands as they are trying to reassure their wives that everything will be fine while privately attempting to deal with their own deep and emotional grief (Luterman et al. 7). The separate roles each parent takes on complement each other by providing unique skills for their child. One of the most emotional taxing yet gratifying parts of raising a deaf child is that the mother is typically the one member of the family most capable of communicating with the deaf child. She becomes not only a mother, but an educator, social guidance counselor, communication specialist, interpreter, and audiologist consultant (Mapp 15). The girl s mother went to the school district when the girl entered high school hoping sign language classes were available as a precaution in case her half deaf child continued to lose her hearing. They refused to even consider letting sign language qualify for her foreign language requirement. Another recurring theme in the challenges faced by parents is the abundance of ignorance in the faculty of school systems themselves. One frustrated parent wrote said about mainstreaming her deaf child into a hearing school, ...the teacher sometimes forgets...her limits and limitations...and does something ... Sarcasm grabs a reader s attention by ridiculing a certain group, individual, or ideal. Twain uses sarcasm in one of the final paragraphs of The Lowest Animal when talking of the outcomes of putting different animals into a cage together and putting different people into a cage together. Twains says that in the cage with the different animals, the inhabitants are peaceful, when he checks again; but in the cage of the different people, the people have a disagreement on theology and kill each other, brutally: When I came back to note results, the cage of Higher Animals was all right, but in the other there was but a chaos of gory odds and ends of turbans and fezzes and plaids and bones and flesh, not a specimen left alive. These Reasoning Animals had disagreed on a theological detail and carried the matter to a Higher Court (Twain 378). This sarcasm brings peaceful religions into question as to whether they are truly peaceful or just a way of separating people. • 43. A Common Understanding Of Weather Menace 1. What is fog? A common understanding of this weather menace must be established before delving into its dangers. Layman s terms suggest that fog is a low hovering cloud which limits the visibility at ground level in a wide variety of intensity. From personal experience, fog may prevent you from locating your own home, or may simply cause the air to feel moist. Fog forms when the difference between air temperature and dew point is generally less than 4 °F. Fog begins to form when water vapor condenses into tiny liquid water droplets suspended in the air, usually also clinging to pollutants or naturally occurring particles (ex: dust, salt, etc.) Water vapor is added to the air by: wind convergence into areas of upward direction, precipitation, daytime heating which evaporates water from the surface of large bodies of water, oceans or wetlands; transpiration from plants, cool or dry air moving over warmer water, and lifting air over mountains. Think of fog as a lower rendition of the cloud form stratus; meaning it is a lower deck that occurs when a cool air mass is confined under a warm air mass. 2. Different types of fogs? Foggiest place in the United States? Fog can form in many ways dependent on what caused the cooling and how the condensation occurred. The most common form of fog, Radiation fog, is fashioned by the cooling of terrain after sun down by thermal radiation when wind conditions are relatively calm and cloud cover is at a minimum. The cooling ground produces ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. The African American Labor Market from leasing out laborers to desperate white southerners who needed to upkeep their crops and coal mines. Although some economic historians (DeCanio, Higgs; 1975, 1977) have concluded that laws aimed at repressing blacks were largely ineffective because of economic competition amongst blacks, Jennifer Roback of the University of Chicago Law Review asserts that the convict lease system served as a exploitive byproduct of white southerners desire to proclaim economic dominance over the African American labor market. The motives of lessees were not solely economically driven they were racially discriminatory practices with the intent of keeping African Americans as subservient citizens. Along the way, white southerners realized that they could use large groups of criminalized African Americans to build infrastructure, such as railroads, to mine coal and iron, make turpentine, clear land, and of course, grow cotton. Similarly, state governments realized that they could economically profit while socially benefiting from having African Americans off the streets and back on plantations. Since nearly all convicts were black, few whites cared about what happened to them. And if the supply of convicts fell below the demand, legislators and sheriffs stood ready to increase the supply. In a sense, pig laws, vagrancy laws, and convict leasing served as negative incentives to freed persons who were hesitant to enter into labor contracts that offered low pay, long hours, and poor ... • 47. Designing A Network For Delta Insurance Company Introduction I will be designing a network for Delta Insurance Company with four offices each in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and York. And I will be following the requirements detailed below. I will also be talking about the screenshots of my Design in this report. Part 1: (10 Marks) You must design an IP version 4 addressing scheme that will accommodate the LANs and WAN links between the offices. The LANs and WANs should use a single public class C IP address of 197.120.45.0 that has been sub netted using Variable Length Subnet Masks. Here you can see that I have designed my own IP addressing scheme from class C 197.120.45.0 that has been sub netted using Variable Subnet Masks, which you can see that I have created a table for each Hosts and IP address/Subnet masks. • 49. Cost Of Industrialization Industrialization is the development of industries in a country or region. There were both costs and benefits of industrialization in the Industrial Revolution. The costs of industrialization, there was a lot of child labor and the factories were very unhealthy for anyone who worked in them. There were a lot of benefits as well. It made the cities grow in population, and it needed a new form of transportation therefore the railroads were created. The advantages do outweigh the disadvantages but not how they were back then. The benefits of industrialization are a big deal, creation of railroads and the cities grew. These are two things that are still very useful in today s time. In the World History textbook it says, factory owners sometimes sought entire families, including children, to work in their factories (Spielvogel 366). In today s time, child labor is against the law. Children should not be working in factories because they re small and they could get hurt very easily. Another cost would be that the factories were very unhealthy for anyone who worked there. The textbook states, industrial workers faced wretched working conditions. Work hours ranged from 12 to 16 hours a day, six hours a week (Spielvogel 369). That means they only get one day off and they don t get to sleep very much. The textbook describes cotton mills to be the worst factories, the worst conditions were in the cotton mills, where the temperatures were especially harmful (367). The cotton mills were very dangerous for the people who worked there and even children worked in them. The benefits of industrialization do not outweigh the costs, as they were back then. Nothing can outweigh child labor or how unhealthy the factories are. Children were working in the factories and that in itself is bad, but with the factories being extremely unhealthy, it made it way worse for them. If industrialization happened it today s time, where child labor is illegal and they do health inspections, then the benefits would outweigh the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
