Similarities Between The Enemy And The Knife Of Never...
Irfan 10E Comparative Essay
Essay Question
What does the author want us to think of in the theme of survival in The Enemy and The Knife of
never letting go?
This piece of writing will consist of two different authors who wrote two different books. The
author of young adult novel, The Knife of Never Letting Go, goes by the name of Patrick Ness
which he published on May 2008. Ness was born on October 17, 1971. He is an American born
British author, journalist, and lecturer who lives in London. The Knife of Never Letting Go is
about Todd Hewitt who is the only boy left in Prentisstown, a small settlement on New World
where all boys become men at the age of 13 when on earth he is 14. He begins the novel oblivious
to Prentiss Town s history,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Knife of Never Letting Go Aaron is in constant pursuit of Todd and his friends. Aaron
ends up stabbing Todd, and kidnaps Viola. After gaining consciousness, Todd rescues Viola, by
choosing to sacrifice his dog Manchee. The pair both escape on a boat. In this sudden incident,
the author shows survival can causes the reader to be on the fence. Ness has gradually built up
the relationship Todd has with his dog but chose a girl who he barely knows to save. It was one
or the other, but the captivity of Viola would be better for Aaron. And Aaron wrenches his arms
and there s a CRACK and a scream and a cut off yelp that tears my heart in two forever and
forever . The author wants the reader to think about how impossible decisions have to be made for
the greater good and to survive. This incident is somewhat similar as Small Sam being captured by
grown ups from The

Human Resources Department Roadblocks
In the Human Resources Department at CONMED, things are constantly moving at a rapid pace,
once one task in completed, there is another task to start, then to complete. Things can get hectic
when a company has a lot of requirements to be met. In order for any organization to run
accordingly, they must have a schedule that helps them to meet deadlines and stay organized. The
Human Resources Department keeps records of what needs to be done, however, have put aside the
task of making their records an actual thing to see and understand. From the beginning of this
projectmy goal was to take their saved data and create a visualized calendar that is user friendly
for the service center. This way, upcoming tasks are understandable and easy to access for all staff
in the service center. I believe being organized in a businessis very important for success.... Show

As far as building this resource, I have been working alongside the IT department to see what my
limits are. CONMED throughout this process was open to all ideas however rejected many for
different reasons. I faced several roadblocks from us not being able to obtain a specific software,
to not having much available in Excel that was needed to accomplish our goal. In order to narrow
my research down, I presented them with several different options. Once we all came to an
agreement that satisfied the company I was then able to expand on one main focus.
From Excel Online, to Google Calendar, and Mobile Calendar Apps, I was testing all waters.
After reviewing the pros and cons of the different resources, the company expressed that they
would like a calendar that feeds from the data that they input creating a nexus, preferably one in
Excel. The advantage of sticking with Excel was that the data they already have saved on excel

Cold American Political System
The antagonists in the political systems of the Soviet Union and North America during the cold war

The relationship which existed during the cold war between North America and the Soviet Union
was majorly based on the different ideologies of the different nations, the political grounds and the
difference in the economic factors. Upto date the cooperation of the two great nations are guided
with a lot of caution and also there exists a lot of bitter rivalry between the two nations too. The
difference in the political systems which existed in the two countries led to the differences in most
of the core policies implementation issues. During the cold war, the difference in the policies which
existed between the two nations led to the creation of the Cuban missile crisis which made the two
nations come to war.
The different in the political ideologies during the cold war was caused by the hostility of the
United States of America to the soviet leaders because they had withdrawn Russia from
participating in the World War 1. Also the difference in political ideologies like the use of two

between the two countries. Different political systems made the two sides to have different
believes on the operations which took place in bringing harmony among the other nations. Tension
was high which made the cold war successful but later between 1989 1991 the Soviet Union failed
in the use of communism system. This led to increased ties between the two nations whereby they

Why Do Organelles Carry Out Its Function
There are several different organelles which allow the cell to carry out its function which is
reproduction and growth. There are important organelles that the eukaryotic cell needs, one of
which is that the nucleus is present. The nucleus acts as the brain of the eukaryotic cell. DNA is
found in the nucleus which holds all the genes and also controls the cell. The cells function is to
reproduce, which needs the nucleus to do this. To carry out another function which is to reproduce,
the chromosomes which are found in the DNAare needed and copied. The cell also needs a lot of
energy for this. The energy is created by the eukaryotic cell s other organelle which is
mitochondria. The mitochondria make energy out of food and then give the cell the energy it needs
to carry out its function. The lysosome then digests enzymes which breaks down the... Show more

Proteins are manufactured according to instructions encoded in the genes in the nucleus. These
genes are then transcripted into RNA from DNA in the nucleus. The RNA then leaves the nucleus
and interacts with ribosomes on the ER, which now links amino acids together to form protein
chains. The cell membrane is a selective barrier on the boundary of every cell. Its function is to
allow the passage of oxygen, nutrients, and wastes to service the entire volume of the cell. The
lysosomes are digestive organelles where macromolecules and other wastes are hydrolyzed by
enzymes. There main function is to process the molecules taken in through the cell membrane and
to recycle worn out cell parts. After ribosome synthesize proteins, the proteins are transported
through the rough ER then, proteins are enclosed in a vesicle and transported to the Golgi
apparatus, where processing, packaging, and transport of proteins is done. After the protein is
processed, it will then bud off from the Golgi apparatus (as vesicles) and transport to where ever it is

Argument In Favor Of Animal Testing
I doubt that anyone has ever heard of the dog named libby, who was rescued from a testing
facility, run by the Professional laboratory and Research Services inc. This corporation ran test
on a multitude of animals, no species was safe. All animals from dogs like libby, to cats ,
bunnies, rats and mice, and many others. Before libby was called libby, she was known by the
number that was tattooed to her ear. She was sick with hook and tapeworms and had a multiple
of infections. She was also locked in dark cages. And on top of all of that; Staff screamed
obscenities and physically abused the animals in their care. This story is a fact of an animal testing

Returning to the discussion of biofabrication, Me , not even being a professional scientist, can see
the implication of bio fabricated tissues into such research. There are also studies going on, known
as vitro methods, when they take certain human cells, and recreate them for testing. So test like
irritation to the skin and other tissues could be tested on fabricated cells instead of having live
animals suffer. That is an answer for tests which deal with the exterior such as cosmetic testing on
animals. But how about advanced animal testing, such as research for cures for parkinson s ,
Alzheimer s, and others? I m sorry to say that I have found no such alternative of animal testing,
other than human volunteers who have whatever they are trying to cure. For medical research
towards cures for problems like mental diseases, animal testing, is somewhat of a need. It s very
unrealistic to assume that there would be enough human volunteers to fully find a cure to mental
illnesses, because most people, just want to be healed, with no ifs, ands, or buts. So animal research
becomes relevant, when the demand is high. So when I say that

Robberies, murder, revenge... some of the most renowned films are centred on some of the vilest
human acts. Our instinctive nature to crave unpredictability is often satisfied through crime films
whether it is through fear, thrill, perplexity, mystification, disgust, horror, amazement, shock, or
even offence. So what is it exactly that constitutes the quintessential crime film? People find
themselves being transfixed by this popular medium, forming an addiction to the unfolding and
prodigious plots, sharp protagonists and often the less anticipated outcome. As a crime film fanatic

When on a sailing trip and the Coast Guards make the discovery of Libby in a blood saturated
nightgown on a blood tarnished deck holding a knife in her hand the presumption that she
murdered her husband is made by them, though we make an intuitive leap that she isn t a killer.
With evidence against her being too compelling she is convicted of her husband s murder and sent
to jail later making the discovery that the in fact her husband remains alive and framed her for his
own murder. Enlightened of the term double jeopardy by an inmate nobody can be convicted twice
for the same crime her now determined and revenge driven character sets out on a pursuit to
locate her husband, with the resort of killing him being available in order to retrieve her son
back. The collaborative nature of film making is especially highlighted in Beresford s production
with his decisions in film techniques aiding the overall presentation as well as pace of the plot. In
the initial scene where the first action takes place and Libby awakes to trails of blood we are
provided with a long, fixed shot of the bed seen under deck with little lighting. These shots
introduce the motif of unmotivated camera movement and with slow transitions of frame we begin
to see close ups which single out important details. Other close ups throughout the film allow for

Factors In Charles Duhigg s The Power Of Habits
Habits are choices that people continue to make repeatedly without consciously thinking about
them. They start as decisions, but eventually become an autonomic process. Habits are very useful
tools if known how to construct properly, however, they can also be destructive. It is crucial to
understand how they work and the components behind them in order to overcome the destructive
habits. A common misconception about habits is that in order for one to change their habit,
willpower is the most important component. Many people try to change their habits and often fail.
The main reason they fail is because they believe that changing habits relies only on willpower the
control exerted to do something or restrain impulses without understanding the nature of how
habits work. In Charles Duhigg s The Power of Habit, he explains how habits work and what
components must be understood in order to overcome bad habits effectively. Although willpower
relates to habit change, the most important and effective components of changing habits include
the habit loop, craving, and routine. Charles Duhigg counters the misconception of willpower by
explaining that habits can be changed with the knowledge of how the habit loop works. Duhigg
states that by understanding what habits are and how they exist in daily life, it will be easier to
focus on certain places where habits can be changed most effectively. According to The Power of
Habit, a habit has three steps. First there is a cue, which is a

the world 1, K s advertisement is an invitation to treat 2. It cannot be construed as an offer as it
shows no intention on K s part to be bound to its terms, in contrast to the wording of the
advertisement in Carlill v Carbolic Smoke Ba// Co3. Thus A s letter to K dated 21 April is the
first possibility of an offer. However the terms of this letter are too vague to be construed as an
offer. This is because an offer must contain all the terms necessary for the contract to come into
existence4. Offering to work for a fee between $12000 $20000 is not certain enough to constitute

in a business setting between two parties acting at arms length also creates a presumption that
there is a common intention to create legal relations, a presumption that is not rebutted by any
contrary facts18. The Terms of the Contract In order to determine the terms of the contract it is
important to have regard to the terms of the offer only. The only terms that could arise out of the
previous negotiations are those referred to in the offer itself or that the courts would imply as
necessary to give the contract business efficacy 19. This is particularly the case if the signed
contract is seen as the basis of the agreement, which is likely. In this case the parol evidence rule
will generally preclude any evidence of intention inconsistent with the signed document20. There is
nothing in the offer letter or contract sent by K to A which imports any of the previous
negotiations. Thus once the offer is

Byzantium Poem Analysis
Meaning: An old man, is fleeing from his country sating that is no country for old men . The
country that he was in before was filled with youth, thus he must seek Byzantium which is the
country of the old. Byzantium is reached by sailing the seas. In Byzantium, the poet asks the
sages in the city s gold mosaics to be the singing masters of his soul. Then he wishes for the sages
to consume his heart, which is sick with desire and fastened to a dying animal which he is
referecing to his body. When he is out of his body, he will never appear in a bodily form, but
instead he will be a golden bird, sitting on a golden branch singing of the past , the present which
is the passing and the future which is to come. Identification of context The poem can be
directed to older people as it is a man who cannot stay in that country as it is a country for young.
The poet uses Byzantium to represent the land of old purely because of how it is an old and
ancient city that is still standing today. This poem brings the young and the old together as it is
a poem about spiritual knowledge. The poem balances out the physical and metaphorical world
by having an object that connects the two. Theme: The themes in the poem are all fused
together as they all have one key idea, of the poet not wanting to die but instead be an object of
art that does not age. He does not feel welcome in the land where they neglect old people. He
tries to initiate a change by leaving his homeland in search for spiritual rebirth. The line between
spiritual and physical rebirth becomes fuzzy as the poet imagines of placing his soul into an art
object which would not age. Explain the structure and the impact it has The structure of the
poem is the poem consist of four stanzas having eight lines each. This poem uses iambic
pentameter, which is one syllable is unstressed and is followed by a stressed syllable. The poem
has five stressed and five unstressed syllables, which gives a total of 10 syllables, an example is
the second stanza s first line which starts with an unstressed syllable then followed by a stressed
syllable. The impact this has on the audience is that it establishes an elevated tone for the poem
since the poem is dealing with a

Summary Of The Film High Art By Lisa Cholodenko
High Art is a Canadian American independent film, and has its genre that is drama and romance.
The film was directed and written by Lisa Cholodenko. It was released on June 12, 1998 in the
United States. In a short summary of the film s plot, lesbians, photography and drug are the major
ingredients of the film. Syd, acted by Radha Mitchell, is a career womanat the photography
magazine called Frame. She lives with her boyfriend, James. When she finds that there is a leak
in her ceiling, she knocks on the door of her upstairs. Then, she meets Lucy, acted by Ally

In this respect, her storytelling skills with a slow tempo enhance the film to have a strong sense
of realism. Also, the other one is the set design, especially Lucy s place. The director perfectly
describes Lucy s apartment as a New Yorker s place. So, it makes the audience feel like people
actually live there. We can see the arrangement of furniture and pictures on the wall. With the
concrete image of space, the director separates the apartment into two places that are living
room and bedroom. The living room is opened to everyone who visits her house, but the
bedroom is more private place. When Lucy and her few friends go into the private place, they do
drugs and show their reliance on drug use, which might indicates the dark truths of their lives. To
show the mood of the place and private, drug addicted life, the director uses not only a minimized
use of lights, but also dreamlike soundtracks. In addition, the director chooses medium shots and
different use of lights for the relationship between Syd and Lucy, and thus the intended settings
help show character s emotions such as tenderness of love. For example, when they make love in
Lucy s bedroom. The use of light is quite different from the heroin scene. The director uses medium
shots with a full amount of natural light from windows to describe their love. Thus, I

The Civil War: Why Did Texas Fight? What do you know about the civil war? The Civil War is

The United States and the small intern governments of Ecuador can be considered as interested

Arguments For and Against Testing Children s Genetics Essay
The diseases that exist in our world are enough to make medicine and testing the only option of
hope in times of need. People grow up happy and healthy, only to be diagnosed, in their middle
age, with an adult onset disease. These diseases only become a burden as the victim gets older.
Some commonly known ones are Alzheimer s or Huntington s disease. There is no cure or treatment
for adult onset diseases like this. Knowing that the victims have these diseases written in their DNA
from the moment they were born leads to an interesting argument. Several communities argue about
whether parents or guardians should have the right to test their children for these diseases. There

Its up to the doctor and parents of that child to decide whether the risk of choosing for the child
is worth it or not. It is clear that there has been proof that this big decision can be ethical and
unethical, leading to only more controversy. Also, testing children for a disease that won t
develop for years can be socially harmful for them. First of all, children will often have difficulty
understanding and responding to the stresses of serious disease and death can lead to behavioral
problems (Klitzman). In several ways, it is better for the kid to learn about this when he or she
is old enough to understand. Finding out too soon can cause more issues than the knowledge is
worth. Growing up with that kind of depression can lead to needing an escape such as drug
abuse or drinking underage. Just having knowledge of carrying a disease can lead to
problematic situations while meeting new people. There have been cases where carriers of the
gene for sickle cell anemia have been denied employment as if they suffered from the disease (
Testing Children for Genetic Status ). Other people will treat the child differently through their
entire life because of simply knowing about it. Finally, testing for diseases too soon may lead to
unreasonably discourage patients from pursuing a particular life plan ( Testing Children for
Genetic Status ). Goals of going to college, getting married, and getting a job may

Sepsis continues to be a significant cause of death and morbidity in the intensive care unit (ICU),
with documented mortality rates as high as 50% (Nargis, Ibrahim, Ahamed, 2014). It is also
estimated to be the principal cause of death and illness worldwide (Singer et al., 2016). Moreover,
the socioeconomic costs related to sepsiswere determined to be more than $20 billion in 2011 in
the United States (Balk et al., 2017). Also, there has been a steady increase in the incidences of
sepsis as the technological advances in medicine allow for more invasive procedures, the growth of

I just realized I ve never rated Heroine Complex upon reading it last year. I m completely blown

series featuring women of color as the center of heroic resistance. There s a few representations
for POC in comics and other medium content but that s only a scrap if we re going to compare it
on how white peopledominate every single genre. This is why Heroine Complex is equally

The dynamics between characters are one of my favorite kinks while reading, it s not a surprise
I will focus on that element! Props to Kuhn because this book focuses on a heroine who s usually
the sidekick. Evie doesn t have a flair for dramatics, she s level headed, passionate, and reliable.
She s been the assistant of Aveda since her best friend donned her costume. Unfortunately, their
friendship isn t all sunshine and rainbows. Her boss is demanding, manipulative, and so self
consumed. There s power imbalance between them, and Aveda just knows what the right words to
say to Evie to make her do something. She sounds so awful, that s because she is. The narrative
didn t excuse how she s been unappreciative. Instead, there s emphasis on repairing the friendship
between them and there s self love and healing.
My frigid heart couldn t help but to be swayed with Aveda s arc. Everyone seems to love her, but
nobody really knows the true her. She s hardworking, she has visions for herself. She s not
naturally born with talents (whatever that means,) she has to work hard for it. The tragedy
someone can do it better than her. On the outside, she seems to have everything, she s untouchable;
but truly she s just another girl who s are still stuck by her insecurities and inadequacies. I can t

The Legacy Of Isaac Monroe Cline
Isaac Monroe Cline was one of the era s new scientists who believed he knew everything there was
to be known about the motions of clouds and the behavior of storms. Isaac was the chief of the

the city of Galvestonbaffled him. As rain started to fall in the city with a higher intensity than
normal, people were reassured by Isaac s beliefs. He was completely wrong.
Galveston which is located on Galveston Island is a twenty nine mile strip of land estimated about

had also become a commercial port which was thriving. On September 8th, 1900 this changed.
Many vacationers on this day did not pay attention to the warnings let out by the United States

Government Can Rip Away Your Citizenship All It Takes
GOVERNMENT CAN RIP AWAY YOUR CITIZENSHIP ALL IT TAKES IS AN INFAMOUS
CRIME
Indiana and some surrounding states (Michigan, Illinois, and Kentucky) revoke a convicted felon s
right to vote while incarcerated, even for misdemeanor sentences. In Indiana, the power of state
government to abridge this right comes from the Indiana State Constitution, Article 2, Section 8,
which reads: The General Assembly shall have power to deprive of the right of suffrage, and to
render ineligible, any person convicted of an infamous crime.
That s not clear? Here is a translation. The Indiana Constitution gives the state legislature the
authority to suspend the right to vote of anyone convicted of a crime no matter what it is! The
crime simply has to be categorized as infamous whether a felony or misdemeanor. Practically, this
means that if a criminal conviction results in imprisonment, the state suspends the offender s right
to vote during incarceration and restores it after release. Under current policy, that s how the law
works. But the sense of Article 2, Section 8, seems to give the General Assembly broad power to
suspend an offender s voting rights perhaps permanently, as some states actually do for certain
felonies. Conviction of an Infamous Crime is the constitutional focus, and this legal term s
extension includes both misdemeanor or felony offenses. Consequently, a simple change of policy
could put any Hoosier s voting rights at permanent jeopardy simply for a

Dealing with Missing Information in a Data Warehouse
Today businesses are investing many resources in building data warehouses and data marts to
obtain timely and actionable information that will give them better business insight. This will
enable them to achieve, among other things, sustainable competitive advantage, increased revenues
and a better bottom line.
In the early 90s, data warehousing applications were either strategic or tactical in nature. Trending
and detecting patterns was the typical focus of many solutions. Now, companies are implementing
data warehouses or operational data stores which meet both strategic and operational needs. The
business need for these solutions usually comes from the desire to make near ... Show more content

In this scenario, the incoming fact records are stored for reprocessing and flagged as incomplete.
These facts are then cycled back as input the next time the fact table is built. One can try
reprocessing the fact record until there is no more missing information.
When correcting the missing information, consider the following questions. * Does the fact
record only come from the source system once? * Is there a possibility that a row will become
associated with a dummy dimension record because of edits? * Can changes or fixes to related
dimensions result in the reassignment of dummy foreign keys to correct values?
If the answer to all three of these questions is yes, then reprocessing may be required. The final test
is to balance the cost of development versus the benefits of implementation. Is this type of error
likely to occur, and is ultimately obtaining the correct information of value to the organization? If
yes, then reprocess the fact record.
If you have determined that reprocessing is required, you may either update the fact record or back
out the original fact record with an offset entry followed by the insertion of the correct fact record.

Understanding The General Strain Theory On Crime
Understanding the General Strain Theory on Crime
Codie Bastress
University Wisconsin Oshkosh
Abstract This paper explores Robert Agnew s General Strain Theory by helping to explain what
it is as well as research that has been conducted to support it. A majority of the articles used in
this paper help try and explain or define what GST is as well as attempt to define its components.
This paper will then help better understand some of the research that has been done regarding
GST. These studies will help explain why certain types of strain lead to criminal acts as well as the
effect of negative emotions leading to crime. Another aspect introduces the matter of how people
cope with certain strains by committing crime and reasons behind it. The importance of strains
leading to juvenile delinquency is briefly explained. Next, some limitations on the theory are
provided. These will include recommendations for further studies on the GST along with
explanations as to why policy applications are difficult for this theory. Naturally, weaknesses of the
theory will also be provided within the limitations section. Finally, an application of the general
strain theory will be provided for the film Bernie.
Understanding the General Strain Theory An abundance of research has been conducted on how
Robert Agnew s strain theory can help better understand why crime is committed. However,
limitations to this to theory have come to the surface. Some suggest that

Gender Stereotypes In Rod Serling s The Twilight Zone
Most qualities revered in people are subjective, and leadership is one of these traits. However,
does not have to be a symptom of anything negative and in fact, allows for an every human being
to revere a unique person if they so wanted. A few specific people have garnered much attention in
the recent centuries for their works and endeavor, among them a man who is commonly said to be
one of the forefathers of science fiction television. Rod Serling, the creator of the Twilight Zone,
was a visionary man who turned hardships into stories that would influence those before and after

In Nicholas Lemann s story Redemption: The Last Battle of the Civil War, it shows a theme of
leadership through the main character of the story, and Adelbert Ames effectively demonstrates the
required traits of a main character and a leader. The book focused on a lot of events that happened
in the Reconstruction era. It tells about both the political characteristics and the social
characteristics that are unraveled throughout the reformation of the South and giving the African
Americans the right to vote along with other political freedoms. Throughout the story, Adelbert
Ames successfully demonstrates the qualities of a great protagonist and a leader. Adelbert Ames
shows the theme of leadership and how his change in his ambition and morality would make him a
better leader in his life.
In the story, Adelbert Ames shows his great leadership and guidance. He was one of the great
leaders after the time of the Civil War. He was also a key contributor in the American Civil War
. He
was quoted as a beau ideal of a division leader (32). His great leadership was awarded with the
Medal of Honor, which is one of the highest medals in the army. He was known as a man who
would do anything for his people and he would go the distance to help them out. As told by the
story, he was a leader that also treated his soldiers right. This is seen in this quote: Although he

Effects Of A Bad Day Essay
Growing up everyone has their own experiences. These range from having your first kiss, to
finding out that giraffes may not actually be real. However, no matter how life changing one of
these experiences may be, the change doesn t occur overnight. Instead it s a steady process
where each single event builds on each other to make an individual who they are. With these
experiences come moments of extreme highs as well as extreme lows, and while having a good
day is the preference of the many, a bad day is what many of us take for granted. Sukhraj Dhillon
explained this concept best when he wrote, Good days give you happiness, and bad days give
you experience. This quote rings true for many, however when we are faced with a bad day it

Bad days play an influential role in our lives, and while we wish they didn t exist, without them
we wouldn t be where we are today as individuals. Therefore we need to change our perception of
bad days from a negative one to a positive one. We also need to recognize that having a bad day
has more impact than a good day. Once we come to recognize these facts as well as incorporate
them in our lives we ll begin to see bad days as not something that degrades us, but that builds us

Essay on Popular Music Revolution
Music has undergone many changes throughout and history and prehistory. These changes were
always somehow connected to sociological movements at the time. Rock music evolved mostly
out of a need by young people of the fifties to break away from so cietal norms. America had just
come out of the Korean War, and men looked to settle down into a peaceful life. Also just prior this
time period, Senator Joseph McCarthy ac tively encouraged citizens to conform with his infamously
false accusations of Commu nism. McCarthy spectacularly charged that there were scores of known
Communists in the Department of State (Bailey 887). This made people fearful that they would be

Although this emphasis on a driving beat originally sprung from R amp;B, it quickly mutated
into its own unique form. This presuma bly was to facilitate dancing to the beat, and this became
the reason many parents and other adults protested this type of music. Many performers onstage
dancing styles were considered lewd and inappropriate for their children. This became another
reason for the music s popularity because they were given a chance to rebel against their parents.
There is nothing prohibiting a situation like this from happening again. Today, teenagers in
general strive to become different from their parents. This causes new styles to emerge in music.
The most common deviation form the main rock theme is vulgarity in lyrics. Sublime, a popular
alternative rock band, has quickly found success with the teenage audience. The two most played
songs on their first album, 40 oz. To Freedom, being Date Rape and Smoke Two Joints. The lyrics
reflect the tendency of youth to rebel against laws and authority. I smoke two joints in time of
peace, and two in time of war/ I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints/and then I smoke two
more. This is an ob vious attempt to aggravate the attitudes of parents, and although added
vulgarities and drug references do not constitute a new form of music, under extreme circumstances,
the conventions could deviate enough to allow something new to emerge.

This way of thinking is also twisted in a sense, because totalitarian governments do not care for
the well being of its people. The people who rule only want power. That is why the reader realizes
that the piece of literature is dystopic. In Fahrenheit 451, the totalitarian government controls the
police, mechanical hounds, and the firemen. The firemen act under the wishes of the government to
burn people s books. An explanation of the firemen is revealed in Beatty s quote, ...there was no
longer need of firemen for the old purposes. They were given the new job, as custodians of out
peace of mind, the focus of our understandable and rightful dread of being inferior: official censors,
judges, and executors. That s you, Montag, and that s me (58, 59). Beatty is explaining the reason
that governments created firemen to burn books. The government can censor information that the
public receives with the creation of the firemen, and it is the job to the people and the firemen to do
their duties without question. That illustrates the totalitarian government in the society of
Fahrenheit 451.
In 1984, the totalitarian government is led by a figure, Big Brother. The Inner Party and the Outer

Essay on Failure of the Schlieffen Plan
Failure of the Schlieffen Plan
The aim of the plan was to avoid having to fight two was at the same time (France and Russia).
The plan was devised by Alfred Von Schlieffen. His plan was to attack France, not on the main
border, which was strongly fortified, but to attack through Belgium and circle the Paris by going
to the west of it, not east. He predicted this should take 6 weeks leaving enough time to go to the
eastern front at Russia and fight there. The plan was very precise and accurate but when it was put
into action there were changes, which led to the Germans failing to capture France.
The first change was made by Moltke (Schlieffen s successor). He decided that they would not ...

The Belgians also stopped supplies and reinforcements, and destroyed their railways.
One of the great ideas about the Schlieffen Plan was that the army invading France was so large
and strong. However, when Russia recovered unexpectedly in 10 days (not six weeks as the
Germans expected) the German leaders worried and many troops were transported to the Eastern
front, weakening the blow to France. By now they were very behind schedule.
The consequences were bad for the Germans. France was sending troops to the frontier at the North
and even more importantly, Britain had joined the war. They had promised to protect Belgium
(because they were worried about being attacked on their coast) and also they did not want
Germany to dominate Europe. Britain sent the BEF (British Expeditionary Force) under Sir John
French. The army of 100,000 soldiers arrived in Belgium on the 17th August. The Germans, who
had hoped the British would not join, were now forced to fight them at the Battle of Mons. The
British retreated to the French armies.
The German Armies were now moving south. The right wing was moving towards the west of
Parris. However, Von Kluck was worried about the spread out nature of the German armies. Also
the Belgian delays meant that the armies were tired and supplies were stretched. Therefore, he
decided to go east of Parris. This violated Schlieffen s

of a political revolution, but it was perhaps his exile more than anything else he did in his life that

These colonies all had economic factors that contributed to their founding. These factors later
developed into different customs and traditions which led to the varied differences between the
New England and Chesapeake colonies.
The differences between these colonies also arose due to different opinion on functioning of the
government and ideologies. New England, being majorly settled by the Puritans, was intolerant to
all other religions. The one exception to this was the colony of Rhode Island. Because it was
settled by a dissenter from the Massachusetts Bay colony, it was the only New England colony to
have complete religious freedom. Most of the New England based groups wanted to reform the
Anglican Church from inside. The Chesapeake region was completely tied to the Anglican Church
and did not care about reforming it in any way. The New England coloniesalso had a large central

E. B. Tylor s Influence On Religion
Religion and supernatural belief have gone hand in hand for centuries, and ideas of these beliefs
have been debated by many different anthropologists, religious thinkers and sociologists.
Anthropologist E.B. Tylor had an interpretation that assisted in influencing future scholars on
ideologies of religion and the supernatural. Tylor focused on an anthropological viewpoint, stating
that supernatural belief stemmed from explanation of natural phenomena including life and death.
Tylor s major contribution to the religious field was his theory of animism and the idea of survivors
and through cultural anthropology, he interpreted the supernatural in a way that had not previously
been deduced, influencing many key religious thinkers whom were searching for a viewpoint
outside of the religious believer s scope.
Commonly known as the Father of Anthropology , Edward Burnett Tylor was an English
anthropologist who is commonly recognised as a founder in cultural anthropology. After spending
time in Mexico in 1855, Tylor discovered a fascination for unfamiliar cultureand identifying

manifestations. He considered this theory as the first phase in the development of all religions and
believed that animism fit into two categories: belief in souls and belief in spirits. This closely
linked to his theories of supernatural and the need for explanation in natural phenomena, especially
focusing on the theories that ask why primitive people needed to believe in a higher deity and

Second World War. Introducing the theme of violent retribution, Puzo s protagonist kills a black
market drug supplier to show his rage at government , corruption in postwar Europe, and his own
failure to secure lifesaving medication for his German girlfriend. In The Fortunate Pilgrim, Puzo
takes us to Hell s kitchen and talks about the experiences of an Italian woman who struggles to
surmount poverty and crime. Though extolling her courage, cunning, and traditional values Puzo s
description of petty criminal activity in the poor Italian American neighbourhood offers ironic
justification for the life of crime as an alternate means of achieving the American Dream. The
themes that are central to Mario Puzos Godfather are criminal legitimacy and revenge, in which
Puzo chronicles the ascent of the Corleone Mafia family under the leadership of Don Vito Corleone,
a criminal mastermind, and his sons. Drawing parallels to American corporate structure, Don Vito s
benevolent authority is founded on supreme organizational control, calculated judgment, and swift
retaliation against all enemies of the family, including traitors and the incompetent within the clan
as well as members of opposing factions. In The Godfather Puzo begins to explore the dubious
status of organized crime as a self sufficient social entity governed by its own hallowed customs
and rigid codes of behavior, particularly personal honour and loyalty. The Sicilian is regarded as a
sequel to The Godfather, Puzo revisits the Corleone family.

Carburetor Process
1.0INTRODUCTION The purpose of this paper is to describe the process of removing an old
carburetor and replacing it with a new Holley carburetor on an old Ford 289 engine from a 1965
Mustang. The following terms are required to know for rest of the document to make sense.
Carburetor: the chamber where fuel and air are mixed Intake manifold: supplies the fuel and air
mixture to the cylinders Vacuum lines: rubber pipes connectors that route a vacuum from the intake
manifold to power exhaust, brakes, any sort of motor, and air conditioning Throttle Lines: controls
inlet for gas and air in the carburetor and is connected to the gas pedal Kick Down Linkage: shifts
gears in an automatic transmission when revolutions per minute... Show more content on

Thirdly, the wires leading up to an electric choke are detached; however, if it is a manual choke
the rod connecting it will be disconnected. It is recommended by nearly all mechanics to switch
to an electric choke. Figure 2.3: Driver s Side of a Carburetor in addition to displaying throttle
lines it also displays where the kick down linkage is hooked up. Figure 2.4: Passenger s Side of a
Carburetor displays the electric choke and float bowl (mentioned later). Figure 2.4: Passenger s
Side of a Carburetor (Source: Speedway Motors, 2016) Third, as seen in Figure 2.4: Passenger s
Side of a Carburetor, the mounting sockets are shown. Furthermore, when attached to the manifold
there are fastening nuts that need to be removed. Once all nuts are removed the carburetor is
simply lifted off the intake manifold. After removing the old carburetor, there will still be fuel in
the float bowl. To remove the fuel, the carburetor is turned upside down and the fuel will pour out
of the top of the carburetor. Figure 2.5: Close up of the Intake

The Wife Monologue
It was a cold and windy September 17 in Denton, Maryland. The year was 1997. Kurt was
working in the field like he does everyday. His wife, Beth, could see him from the house. He could
hear from a distance his two daughters playing in the yard. It was their birthday today.
He remembered back to when the girls were born. The doctor said Beth was pregnant with a
baby boy, and out came two special girls. These girls were not just special in the Daddy s little
angels kind of way. They were both born with superpowers. Glenda came out glowing blue. She
had beautiful blue eyes and a fair complexion with hair that was white as snow. Sutton came out
glowing red. She had bright red lips, dark brown eyes, and silky black hair. Both girls were a

She headed back into her bedroom and knelt down beside the bed. She blindly reached under and
pulled out a large briefcase. Unhinging the briefcase she revealed a well stocked weaponry with
plenty of supplies for the plan.
Shutterbug strapped on a few guns, some knives, and a couple emergency grenades to a belt. She
headed to the patio which was located 4 stories from the sidewalk below. Shutterbug climbed the
railing and steadied her balance. She took one last big breath and jumped into flight.
On her way to the White House she was reminiscing on all of her reasons why she was doing this.
Shutterbug wanted respect. She hated that her sister was always the favorite. Glenda was perfect
in every way. Their parents favored Glenda. Glenda got to go to the wealthy aunt and uncle, and
she was now married to the President. What more could she become? Something had to change.
Shutterbug had decided it was better to be feared than loved, and now she was going to be feared
by all.
Shutterbug could see the White House in the distance. People were scrambling all over the place.
Someone must have seen her coming. Picking up speed, she plummeted down at the front gate.
People were fleeing all around her, except the White House security. Nobody knew her intentions,
but whenever she was around, there would be

Skeletal Bone Research Paper
Bone Lit Review
Introduction
Skeletal bone is a dynamic tissue structure that constantly undergoes changes and remodeling
throughout someone s lifespan. Skeletal bones is a mechanical support for locomotion and
protecting the organs. Muscle tendons and ligaments insert onto the bone. It is only present in
vertebrates.
Bone tissue is made up mainly of fibrous collagen connective tissue surrounded by a calcium
phosphate like mineral. It is hollow shaped structured that cannot swell or shrink. However, there
are living cells and blood vessels imbued within the bone tissue.
This paper will discuss the composition and cells of bone, different types and organization of bone,

They undergo a mineralization process to calcify the bone into a harden material. First, the matrix
of the bone, a mixture of both collagen and water, plus other organic components are first laid down
first. Osteoblast cells secrete type 1 collagen, glycoproteins, proteoglycans, membrane enclosed
vesicles with alkaline phosphatase and toehr associated enzymes as well as a product known as
osteoid into the matrix. The osteoblast secretions bind with calcium with high affinity and enzymes
hydrolyze phosphate ions from various macromolecules creating a high concentration of ions. The
high ion concetrations causes calcium phosphate crystals to form and grow to mineralize further
into a compound known as hydroxyapatite. Hydroxoapatie surround collagen fibers and merge into

Internal Conflict Of William Shakespeare s Macbeth
Internal conflict is represented throughout Macbeth following his descent from hero to decapitated
tyrant. In Act I.vii Macbeth is debating with himself whether to kill the king or not which reveals
internal conflict between his virtue and his hamartia, ambition. He says, that we but teach bloody
instructions, which being taught, return to plague the inventor , this shows Macbethfocusing on the
practicalities of killing Duncan rather than the ethics or moralityof it, he is more worried of the
possibility it could lead to his own murder, this portrays a moment of clarity that foreshadows his
own fate. The phrase teach bloody instructions is vocabulary of war and revenge which gives a
hint of a soldier s mindset. He later goes to say i am his kinsman and his subject, strong both
against the deed; then, as his host, who should against his murderer shut the door, not bear the
knife myself. , structurally he has now moved on to the ethics and morality of the murder, he
knows it s wrong showing he still has a moral compass however the morality was a later thought
showing that his morals have been mixed up and shows a hint of a psychotic mind. He then leaves
us with the line I have no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only vaulting ambition, which o
erleaps itself and falls on the other , this conveys self awareness, he knows his major flaw is his
ambition, the word vaulting suggests his ambition is so strong that it jumps out of him and drives
him into situations

Homeless Essay
The weather seems to be getting a bit chillier around here lately Charlie Houser proclaims. Living
homeless is not so bad as long as you understand that you are homeless and make it your every
day life. implies Charlie. Charlie is a man that goes around thinking of things to do from day to day.
On Vine Street in Coryville, a thin, short, black man stands between two buildings fighting off
another Cincinnati winter. He is unshaven with a scraggly beard. His skin is rugged looking and
tough. His outfit consists of a tannish brown jacket, which clashes with his turquoise pants that are

His squinted eyes began to open wider revealing them from his eyelids when he takes a bite of the

A Lie In Pamela Meyer s Ted Talk
A lie is defined as a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth;
a falsehood. Why do people lie? What is the point of lying? How can liars be spotted? With the help
of Pamela Meyer, these questions were able to be answered.
The two points and statements that I found the most interesting that Meyer made during her Ted
Talk was that 1 in every 10 interactions with a spouse. Also, one in every five interactions that
college students have with their mom has a lie. I do not understand how this number is that high.

Pet Overpopulation Is A Serious Problem
Did you know about 25 million puppies and kittens are born into the United States each year?
That s more than 50,000 born each day in this country alone. Twenty five million pets produce
yearly greatly exceeds the amount of willing families to take care of these animals that are born
into the world. Even though, these massive amount of litters may in fact be completely healthy
there is just not a sufficient enough of homes for this animals to be place in. statically reported by
the humane society of the united states in October 2011 6 to 8 million animals who have no place
to call their home are put into animal shelters. Unfortunately, due to the excessive surplus of these
animals about half which is 3 to 4 million only make it out alive. The other half left to be euthanize
by the shelter to make room for the new incoming animals. This turns out to be one animal
euthanize every 8 sec. Pet overpopulation has been a serious problem throughout the nation for
many years. The on ongoing cycle of bring unwanted litters of pets into the world makes it
extremely difficult to reduce the amount of animals being euthanize across the nation each and
every day. It s important for people to understand the need to spay and neuter their family s pets and
all pets in general, all though people don t understand that need its extremely important to take into
account that these thousands of wanted any unneeded animals being born into the world each day

Critical Factors On Human Dignity And Capital Punishment
Antiepa Munatsi S00150701
This discussion is going to investigate and evaluate the critical factors in relation to human dignity
and capital punishment utilising the case study of Andrew and Myuran. A discussion would be
made on the issues surrounding the unfair forms of punishments that are used to deal with those
who committed unimaginable crimes in the eyes of society. I believe this is an issue where human
dignity is a critical factor because there is no respect for individual autonomy and Andrew and
Myuran were not given the chance and hence their humanity and dignity violated. Perspectives 1
and 2 would be outlined and an analysis would be made to each in relationship to the case study.
Also, understanding of human dignity in each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Question 1
Dwight Conquergood wrote about how the legal system in America tried to normalise capital
punishment to make it seem less cruel by introducing other ways of execution. This was done by
using the lethal injection as in McVeigh?s case (Conquergood, 2002). He advocates against the use
of capital punishment and in his discussion highlighted that he attended many demonstrations with
those against capital punishment. In addition, he highlights that there is bias from authorities when
handling death cases. In one of the cases, the police lost documents which would have been given
to the defense lawyers to fight against the sentence. However, the individual was put to death and
he considered that death penalty to be unfair and unjust and that there has been instances of
innocent people being on death row. He highlighted that minorities make up the largest number of
prisoners on the death penalty despite representing a small percentage of the small population and
argued that there was bias against certain minorities. The author indicated that African Americans
are 19% more likely to be put on death row as compared to other races even though they might have
committed the same crime (Conquergood, 2002). His view can be put into quadrant 1A which
refers to dignity obtained by being a human being (Kirchhoffer, 2013). However, when one is on
death row, this dignity is taking away and therefore he argues that offenders

Edgar Allan Poe:
After having read some of his short stories, The first idea that comes to others and myself when

The denotation of this passage is the fact that the main character had come home drunk and
literally just used a knife to take one eyeball off the cat. In this passage, we see visual imagery
because the author describes in detail the state in which the author enters the house, the way he
picks up the cat, and the way he kills the cat, which makes the character seem even more insane.
For the direct characterization of the main character, we can see that he is a drunkand likes
when people avoid him. He also has a problem with his identity and states that he forgot his true
self the moment before taking the cat s eyeballs out. As for the indirect characterization, the main
character becomes a very aggressive person after alcohol consumption since he seizes the cat
from the throat and tries to abuse him. The main character can also be characterised as an insane
person with weird and mad ways in abusing a creature since he pops the cat s eyes out. The cat
might also be characterised as a strong cat that defends itself since it scratches his hand with its

Model Car Research Paper
One project that is very enjoyable and can be done by people of just about any age is building
small plastic model cars. It does not take a lot of skill to build one of these model cars but the
more effort that a person is willing to put into the project the better the end result can be. The
first model will probably not turn out as hoped for or expect, but with a little patience and some
practice the ending results should become better and better. The building of a model car can
give a person feelings of great accomplishment, which can help build up their self esteem. Before
a person is to get started on a model car project they will need to acquire the model kit and will
also need to get some tools. The model kits can be purchased at most hobby stores and you can
get most of the tools and equipment for building it there as well. If a person wanted to save
money on some of the tools and supplies they should be able to get some of the items at a Wal

American English Consonant And Vowel Inventories
A contrast of the Arabic vs. American English consonant and vowel inventories. Abdullah
Alshahrani Southern Illinois University Carbondale Abdullah34f@gmail.com A contrast of the
Arabic vs. American English consonant and vowel inventories. Introduction According to
Hillenbrand (2003) and Thelwall and Sa Adeddin (1999), both the American English and Arabic
languages have diverse forms and dialects respectively. Thelwall and Sa Adeddin (1999), highlight
the two main spoken Arabic dialects as Al Shaam (spoken in the greater Syria) and Arabic spoken
in Egypt (mainly focused at the University in Cairo and the Al Azhar mosque). Hillenbrand (2003)
gives two examples of American English dialects as the southern California dialect, and the dialect
for the Northern cities comprising cities in the northeast inland of the USA. As such, the phonetic
characteristics between the various forms or dialects of a language may vary. One phonetic
characteristic that might vary is the pronunciation. While language or communication can be
written, speech communication remains one of the main ways in which human beings express
themselves. As such, correct pronunciation of words is essential in effective communication. A
breakdown of the pronounced words gives the individual components comprising of consonants and
vowels. As such, the understanding of consonants and vowels is critical to the correct
pronunciation of any word in any language. This paper focuses on

The Importance Of Teamwork And Learning Processes After...
In studying and learning about human behaviour in organisation unit at University of Canberra, it
is compulsory to review the aspect of teamwork and learning processes after completing the video
project assignment. Students should critically analyse about the teamwork experience as part of
their learning processes and put it in the form of individual essay. This essay briefly discussed
about my personal experiences associated with the related teamwork. Generally speaking, the team
has done a great job in terms of goal achievement. However, the problem that I observed during the
teamwork process learningis about the lack of cohesion in group due to conflict among the members
. On the other hand, the good experience about the group is the commitment of all members of the
group to accomplish the project on time. In other words, the positive experience outweighs the
negative one, especially when all members keep their commitment towards the goal of the group.
Teamwork is the number of people who work together to achieve a goal, which they have rules
and a clear working mechanism and interdependent with each other (Andrzej and David 2013). In
general, there are five stages in the evolution of a team including forming, storming, norming,
performing and adjourning (Tuckman and Jensen as cited in Andrzej and David 2013). First, the
group experiences the forming stage when the lecture appointed all members to join in a team. We

A study done by Dr. George Reeves (1942) showed that emotional states play an important role
in the quality of people s eating habits. He studies five obese white women. Dr. Reeves
concluded that (a) obesity was used at a defense mechanism (b) these patterns were sadistic and
masochistic (c) oral satisfaction extended beyond social acceptable forms and (d) obesity was
used to simulate a masculine ideal. This study was limited because he had only five cases of
women, and they were all the same race and around the same age. Hirsch and Morse (1960)
presented a study to relate emotions to obesity and establish correlations between metabolic
findings from the obese patients in their study. They brought 74 patients to the Victoria General
Hospital Outpatient Obesity Clinic. The patients were given a questionnaire that was oriented
around their obesity history. The material from the interview were reviewed for symptoms of
emotional distress such as depression, anxiety, delusions, etc. 27 of the 74 patients were judged to
have a diagnosable psychiatric disorder after the questionnaire was completed. This study however
was unreliable because there was no average weighted people to interview as a control, also the
people in the study were unprepared to think abstractly, so the physician guided them throughout
the questionnaire, which made the data unreliable. Collyer (1974) backed Reeves (1942)
conclusions that women may gain weight as a defense mechanism to protect

Similarities Between The Beatles and Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd and the Beatles had more in common then they re often credited. Both bands members
were raised in the United Kingdom. The original framework for The Beatles was conspired by the
best friends, John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Likewise, Pink Floyd was created by best friends
Nick Mason and Roger Waters. By the same token, both bands were founded while the members
received their education. World War II was a pin point in each of the band members lives, if not
directly affecting them, then they were affected through their parents. Ironically, the two bands
were also branded for the sixties, largely the Beatleswho were believed to be an instrument,

This was the least of the confusion, the two bands matters were in original instrument choice
among the members, music style, the band members themselves, and at last the band names.
Coincidentally, both bands lost a member who motivated the group; Stuart Sutcliffe for the Beatles,
and Syd Barrett mentally handicapped before Pink Floyd s success. The most common factor for
the two United Kingdom, sixties era bands is that they both succeeded. With so many
coincidences, the bands also have their contrasting factors. The Beatles on one hand were largely
public, acquiring names such as the Quarry Men, instead Pink Floyd was underground and
frolicked with names like T Set or Abdabs. Large differences between the two bands are their
rises in popularity. For Pink Floyd s underground scene, they were not at the peak of their
popularity in America until the early seventies; The Beatles were into the Pop Culture which gave
them leeway to high popularity. The war and Counterculture provided the Beatles a great
opportunity to experiment with their music, while Pink Floyd changed largely because Barrett
wanted to try mystique music which suited the culture a smidge better than the blues. Because the
controversial rises of fame, the bands trademark movies were created in totally different
generations; Yellow Submarine was released in 1968, Pink Floyd s The Wall was released in 1982.
This presents why their strikingly similar reputations

How The Mass And Force Affect The Acceleration Of An Object
Scientific Report | Newton s Second Law
Title:How the mass and force affect the acceleration of an object.
Aim:To test Newton s seconds law if whether changing the mass or the force affects the
acceleration of an object or a trolley in this case to increase or decrease.
Introduction: Newton s laws of motion are three physical laws that describe the connection
between a body and the different forces acting upon it, as well as its motion in response to those
forces. Isaac Newton developed Galileo s ideas further and developed three law of motions.
Newton s First Law of Motion states that an object at rest with remain this way unless if it affected
by a force. Also if an object that is moving will continue at the same speed as well as the same
direction until an unbalanced force acts upon it. An example of unbalance force is when a
scooter is being driven, the friction and air resistance is going at it, the weight of the scooter is
keeping the weight on the ground, the reaction force is going up and the thrust of the scooter
going forward. The force s tendency to resist any change in motion is called an object s inertia.
Newton s Second Law of Motion states that an object will keep on accelerating in the direction of
an unbalance force acting upon it. The mass of the object and the size of the force acting depends
upon the size of the acceleration., F_net=m x a, is the formula to work out the total amount of force
acting upon an object. This formula can be

Human Resources Department Roadblocks In the Human Resources Department at CONMED, things are constantly moving at a rapid pace, once one task in completed, there is another task to start, then to complete. Things can get hectic when a company has a lot of requirements to be met. In order for any organization to run accordingly, they must have a schedule that helps them to meet deadlines and stay organized. The Human Resources Department keeps records of what needs to be done, however, have put aside the task of making their records an actual thing to see and understand. From the beginning of this projectmy goal was to take their saved data and create a visualized calendar that is user friendly for the service center. This way, upcoming tasks are understandable and easy to access for all staff in the service center. I believe being organized in a businessis very important for success.... CONMED throughout this process was open to all ideas however rejected many for different reasons. I faced several roadblocks from us not being able to obtain a specific software, to not having much available in Excel that was needed to accomplish our goal. In order to narrow my research down, I presented them with several different options. Once we all came to an agreement that satisfied the company I was then able to expand on one main focus. From Excel Online, to Google Calendar, and Mobile Calendar Apps, I was testing all waters. After reviewing the pros and cons of the different resources, the company expressed that they would like a calendar that feeds from the data that they input creating a nexus, preferably one in Excel. The advantage of sticking with Excel was that the data they already have saved on excel was easily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cold American Political System The antagonists in the political systems of the Soviet Union and North America during the cold war Name Course Institution Tutor Date The relationship which existed during the cold war between North America and the Soviet Union was majorly based on the different ideologies of the different nations, the political grounds and the difference in the economic factors. Upto date the cooperation of the two great nations are guided with a lot of caution and also there exists a lot of bitter rivalry between the two nations too. The difference in the political systems which existed in the two countries led to the differences in most of the core policies implementation issues. During the cold war, the difference in the policies which existed between the two nations led to the creation of the Cuban missile crisis which made the two nations come to war. There are important organelles that the eukaryotic cell needs, one of which is that the nucleus is present. The nucleus acts as the brain of the eukaryotic cell. DNA is found in the nucleus which holds all the genes and also controls the cell. The cells function is to reproduce, which needs the nucleus to do this. To carry out another function which is to reproduce, the chromosomes which are found in the DNAare needed and copied. The cell also needs a lot of energy for this. The energy is created by the eukaryotic cell s other organelle which is mitochondria. The mitochondria make energy out of food and then give the cell the energy it needs to carry out its function. These genes are then transcripted into RNA from DNA in the nucleus. The RNA then leaves the nucleus and interacts with ribosomes on the ER, which now links amino acids together to form protein chains. The cell membrane is a selective barrier on the boundary of every cell. Its function is to allow the passage of oxygen, nutrients, and wastes to service the entire volume of the cell. The lysosomes are digestive organelles where macromolecules and other wastes are hydrolyzed by enzymes. There main function is to process the molecules taken in through the cell membrane and to recycle worn out cell parts. After ribosome synthesize proteins, the proteins are transported through the rough ER then, proteins are enclosed in a vesicle and transported to the Golgi apparatus, where processing, packaging, and transport of proteins is done. After the protein is processed, it will then bud off from the Golgi apparatus (as vesicles) and transport to where ever it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Argument In Favor Of Animal Testing I doubt that anyone has ever heard of the dog named libby, who was rescued from a testing facility, run by the Professional laboratory and Research Services inc. This corporation ran test on a multitude of animals, no species was safe. All animals from dogs like libby, to cats , bunnies, rats and mice, and many others. Before libby was called libby, she was known by the number that was tattooed to her ear. She was sick with hook and tapeworms and had a multiple of infections. She was also locked in dark cages. And on top of all of that; Staff screamed obscenities and physically abused the animals in their care. Returning to the discussion of biofabrication, Me , not even being a professional scientist, can see the implication of bio fabricated tissues into such research. There are also studies going on, known as vitro methods, when they take certain human cells, and recreate them for testing. So test like irritation to the skin and other tissues could be tested on fabricated cells instead of having live animals suffer. That is an answer for tests which deal with the exterior such as cosmetic testing on animals. But how about advanced animal testing, such as research for cures for parkinson s , Alzheimer s, and others? I m sorry to say that I have found no such alternative of animal testing, other than human volunteers who have whatever they are trying to cure. For medical research towards cures for problems like mental diseases, animal testing, is somewhat of a need. It s very unrealistic to assume that there would be enough human volunteers to fully find a cure to mental illnesses, because most people, just want to be healed, with no ifs, ands, or buts. So animal research becomes relevant, when the demand is high. So when I say that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Our instinctive nature to crave unpredictability is often satisfied through crime films whether it is through fear, thrill, perplexity, mystification, disgust, horror, amazement, shock, or even offence. So what is it exactly that constitutes the quintessential crime film? People find themselves being transfixed by this popular medium, forming an addiction to the unfolding and prodigious plots, sharp protagonists and often the less anticipated outcome. As a crime film fanatic myself I can assure you that these elements are crucial in intensifying the overall impact it has on you as a viewer. I am aware that some claims have been made... Enlightened of the term double jeopardy by an inmate nobody can be convicted twice for the same crime her now determined and revenge driven character sets out on a pursuit to locate her husband, with the resort of killing him being available in order to retrieve her son back. The collaborative nature of film making is especially highlighted in Beresford s production with his decisions in film techniques aiding the overall presentation as well as pace of the plot. • 8. Factors In Charles Duhigg s The Power Of Habits Habits are choices that people continue to make repeatedly without consciously thinking about them. They start as decisions, but eventually become an autonomic process. Habits are very useful tools if known how to construct properly, however, they can also be destructive. It is crucial to understand how they work and the components behind them in order to overcome the destructive habits. A common misconception about habits is that in order for one to change their habit, willpower is the most important component. Many people try to change their habits and often fail. The main reason they fail is because they believe that changing habits relies only on willpower the control exerted to do something or restrain impulses without understanding the nature of how habits work. In Charles Duhigg s The Power of Habit, he explains how habits work and what components must be understood in order to overcome bad habits effectively. Although willpower relates to habit change, the most important and effective components of changing habits include the habit loop, craving, and routine. Charles Duhigg counters the misconception of willpower by explaining that habits can be changed with the knowledge of how the habit loop works. Duhigg states that by understanding what habits are and how they exist in daily life, it will be easier to focus on certain places where habits can be changed most effectively. According to The Power of Habit, a habit has three steps. First there is a cue, which is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thus A s letter to K dated 21 April is the first possibility of an offer. However the terms of this letter are too vague to be construed as an offer. The Terms of the Contract In order to determine the terms of the contract it is important to have regard to the terms of the offer only. The only terms that could arise out of the previous negotiations are those referred to in the offer itself or that the courts would imply as necessary to give the contract business efficacy 19. This is particularly the case if the signed contract is seen as the basis of the agreement, which is likely. • 10. Byzantium Poem Analysis Meaning: An old man, is fleeing from his country sating that is no country for old men . The country that he was in before was filled with youth, thus he must seek Byzantium which is the country of the old. Byzantium is reached by sailing the seas. In Byzantium, the poet asks the sages in the city s gold mosaics to be the singing masters of his soul. Then he wishes for the sages to consume his heart, which is sick with desire and fastened to a dying animal which he is referecing to his body. When he is out of his body, he will never appear in a bodily form, but instead he will be a golden bird, sitting on a golden branch singing of the past , the present which is the passing and the future which is to come. Identification of context The poem can be directed to older people as it is a man who cannot stay in that country as it is a country for young. The poet uses Byzantium to represent the land of old purely because of how it is an old and ancient city that is still standing today. This poem brings the young and the old together as it is a poem about spiritual knowledge. The poem balances out the physical and metaphorical world by having an object that connects the two. Theme: The themes in the poem are all fused together as they all have one key idea, of the poet not wanting to die but instead be an object of art that does not age. He does not feel welcome in the land where they neglect old people. He tries to initiate a change by leaving his homeland in search for spiritual rebirth. The line between spiritual and physical rebirth becomes fuzzy as the poet imagines of placing his soul into an art object which would not age. Explain the structure and the impact it has The structure of the poem is the poem consist of four stanzas having eight lines each. This poem uses iambic pentameter, which is one syllable is unstressed and is followed by a stressed syllable. The poem has five stressed and five unstressed syllables, which gives a total of 10 syllables, an example is the second stanza s first line which starts with an unstressed syllable then followed by a stressed syllable. The impact this has on the audience is that it establishes an elevated tone for the poem since the poem is dealing with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also, the other one is the set design, especially Lucy s place. The director perfectly describes Lucy s apartment as a New Yorker s place. So, it makes the audience feel like people actually live there. We can see the arrangement of furniture and pictures on the wall. With the concrete image of space, the director separates the apartment into two places that are living room and bedroom. The living room is opened to everyone who visits her house, but the bedroom is more private place. When Lucy and her few friends go into the private place, they do drugs and show their reliance on drug use, which might indicates the dark truths of their lives. To show the mood of the place and private, drug addicted life, the director uses not only a minimized use of lights, but also dreamlike soundtracks. In addition, the director chooses medium shots and different use of lights for the relationship between Syd and Lucy, and thus the intended settings help show character s emotions such as tenderness of love. For example, when they make love in Lucy s bedroom. The use of light is quite different from the heroin scene. The director uses medium shots with a full amount of natural light from windows to describe their love. Thus, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People grow up happy and healthy, only to be diagnosed, in their middle age, with an adult onset disease. These diseases only become a burden as the victim gets older. Some commonly known ones are Alzheimer s or Huntington s disease. There is no cure or treatment for adult onset diseases like this. That s not clear? Here is a translation. The Indiana Constitution gives the state legislature the authority to suspend the right to vote of anyone convicted of a crime no matter what it is! The crime simply has to be categorized as infamous whether a felony or misdemeanor. Practically, this means that if a criminal conviction results in imprisonment, the state suspends the offender s right to vote during incarceration and restores it after release. These studies will help explain why certain types of strain lead to criminal acts as well as the effect of negative emotions leading to crime. Another aspect introduces the matter of how people cope with certain strains by committing crime and reasons behind it. The importance of strains leading to juvenile delinquency is briefly explained. New England, being majorly settled by the Puritans, was intolerant to all other religions. The one exception to this was the colony of Rhode Island. Because it was settled by a dissenter from the Massachusetts Bay colony, it was the only New England colony to have complete religious freedom. Most of the New England based groups wanted to reform the Anglican Church from inside. The Chesapeake region was completely tied to the Anglican Church and did not care about reforming it in any way. The New England coloniesalso had a large central government which allowed for their administrations to be more organized and uniform throughout the region. Tylor s Influence On Religion Religion and supernatural belief have gone hand in hand for centuries, and ideas of these beliefs have been debated by many different anthropologists, religious thinkers and sociologists. Anthropologist E.B. Tylor had an interpretation that assisted in influencing future scholars on ideologies of religion and the supernatural. Tylor focused on an anthropological viewpoint, stating that supernatural belief stemmed from explanation of natural phenomena including life and death. Tylor s major contribution to the religious field was his theory of animism and the idea of survivors and through cultural anthropology, he interpreted the supernatural in a way that had not previously been deduced, influencing many key religious thinkers whom were searching for a viewpoint outside of the religious believer s scope. Commonly known as the Father of Anthropology , Edward Burnett Tylor was an English anthropologist who is commonly recognised as a founder in cultural anthropology. Puzo s early novels, The Dark Arena and The Fortunate Pilgrim, exhibit the realistic narrative style typical of his later fiction and are considered minor classics of Italian American literature. The Dark Arena talks about an American soldier who came back to a occupied Germany after the Second World War. Introducing the theme of violent retribution, Puzo s protagonist kills a black market drug supplier to show his rage at government , corruption in postwar Europe, and his own failure to secure lifesaving medication for his German girlfriend. In The Fortunate Pilgrim, Puzo takes us to Hell s kitchen and talks about the experiences of an Italian woman who struggles to surmount poverty and crime. Though extolling her courage, cunning, and traditional values Puzo s description of petty criminal activity in the poor Italian American neighbourhood offers ironic justification for the life of crime as an alternate means of achieving the American Dream. The themes that are central to Mario Puzos Godfather are criminal legitimacy and revenge, in which Puzo chronicles the ascent of the Corleone Mafia family under the leadership of Don Vito Corleone, a criminal mastermind, and his sons. Drawing parallels to American corporate structure, Don Vito s benevolent authority is founded on supreme organizational control, calculated judgment, and swift retaliation against all enemies of the family, including traitors and the incompetent within the clan as well as members of opposing factions. In The Godfather Puzo begins to explore the dubious status of organized crime as a self sufficient social entity governed by its own hallowed customs and rigid codes of behavior, particularly personal honour and loyalty. This essay briefly discussed about my personal experiences associated with the related teamwork. Generally speaking, the team has done a great job in terms of goal achievement. The war and Counterculture provided the Beatles a great opportunity to experiment with their music, while Pink Floyd changed largely because Barrett wanted to try mystique music which suited the culture a smidge better than the blues. Because the controversial rises of fame, the bands trademark movies were created in totally different generations; Yellow Submarine was released in 1968, Pink Floyd s The Wall was released in 1982. This presents why their strikingly similar reputations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. How The Mass And Force Affect The Acceleration Of An Object Scientific Report | Newton s Second Law Title:How the mass and force affect the acceleration of an object. Aim:To test Newton s seconds law if whether changing the mass or the force affects the acceleration of an object or a trolley in this case to increase or decrease. Introduction: Newton s laws of motion are three physical laws that describe the connection between a body and the different forces acting upon it, as well as its motion in response to those forces. Isaac Newton developed Galileo s ideas further and developed three law of motions. Newton s First Law of Motion states that an object at rest with remain this way unless if it affected by a force. Also if an object that is moving will continue at the same speed as well as the same direction until an unbalanced force acts upon it. An example of unbalance force is when a scooter is being driven, the friction and air resistance is going at it, the weight of the scooter is keeping the weight on the ground, the reaction force is going up and the thrust of the scooter going forward. The force s tendency to resist any change in motion is called an object s inertia. Newton s Second Law of Motion states that an object will keep on accelerating in the direction of an unbalance force acting upon it. The mass of the object and the size of the force acting depends upon the size of the acceleration., F_net=m x a, is the formula to work out the total amount of force acting upon an object. This formula can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. The Chemical Earth Research Paper Anna McNamara Year 11 Chemistry, Mr Thomson Chemistry Assessment: The Chemical Earth Gather information from secondary sources to distinguish the physical properties of metals and nonmetals. The key differences between metals and nonmetals are the physical properties which simply outlines the specific metal and nonmetal subdivision. In some cases semimetals or metalloids have a combination of properties which could classify them as being metals and nonmetals, hence the name semimetals. These properties include: lustre; solubility in water; state; melting point; boiling point; density; malleability; and conductivity. Most metals are often; appear shiny; insoluble in water; solid at 25॰C; have high melting and boiling points; higher in density;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The strength of this metal is medium and which provides a relatively strong frame and structure but also allows for crumple zones to work effectively in a car accident. The percentage of Metal A in the earth s crust is 7.5, which is quite common. This metal needs to be common due to the amount of cars which are sought for worldwide. The reactivity of Metal A shows no obvious reactions with water or damp air which allows people to drive cars in rain or humid weather. This metals reaction with acid is slow and irrelevant to the usage of the material for these purposes. These properties allow Metal A to be suitable for the main structure and body of a ...
