Wellness Plan
Developing an Organizational Employee Wellness Plan
Sample Outline
This outline is intended to be a starting point to guide state agencies in developing their own agency
specific wellness plan. The provided outline addresses specific points to consider in developing the
agency plan, but each agency will need to add additional content to define adequately what and how
each activity will be implemented in the agency. While the outline is presented in this format for ease
of reading and brevity, a more narrative format is recommended to serve as the actual agency wellness
plan.
Additionally in some sections, such as Program Objectives and Program Content, the outline provides
suggested objectives or program content for agencies to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Fast Food Industry Has Grown Over The Past Years, And
The fast food industry has grown over the past years, and now a new type of food service has arise in
the form of gas stations. Wawa and Sheetz are these new dominators, who strive on providing quick
service and great food. Since these are success stories, other gas stations have tried to replicate these
companies but have not struck the consumer as much as Wawa and Sheetz. The consumer fanbase for
each company is extreme. Fans of Wawa have been known to get the logo tattooed on their biceps, and
fans of Sheetz call themselves sheetzfreaks and sometimes linger on the vicinity into the early
morning hours. Both of these companies have excelled and this paper aims to examine why this has
occurred, particularly examining the PR practices of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, both companies have been able to combine these aspects which is attractive to many
consumers. Perhaps looking at the history of both companies can lead some insight to this
transformation. Sheetz was founded in 1952 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and began to spread out as
primarily convenience stores. In 1972 the company had expanded to seven to fourteen stores, and a
year later Sheetz added gasoline pumps. It was in 1995 that Sheetz began to introduce touchscreen
ordering and their food and beverage products, offering high quality food at a gas convenience store (
Our History ). Conversely, Wawa began in 1964 and was a food market, and added more food
products throughout the beginning years. The gas station aspect of the company was not introduced
until 1996, and chiefly the company provided a deli and convenience store service. Touchscreens were
installed in 2002, and the company has continued to expand their food products while spreading along
the east coast ( Wawa: 50 Years Counting ). Interestingly, both companies started as food based and
moved to provide other services over time. This is perhaps why the companies have a passion for
serving quality food, since it is in their roots. This is common in the fast food industry, and Sheetz and
Wawa have taken this service to a new level.
Fast food providers are widespread and have large populations who flock to them. However, since
Sheetz and Wawa are more condense in their spread

The Education System Must Be Redesigned
During the first three decades of the twentieth century, the progressive era had catapulted curriculum
theory into a field of scientific inquiry. Its structure had been differentiated and the curriculum content
had been expanded. All changes were created to meet the demands of a newly industrialized and
urbanized civilization, and as a result scientific management became the guide for the development
and implementation of the new curriculum. Franklin Bobbitt, one of the 19th century front runners of
scientific curriculum, stated that if the scientific procedures utilized in factories could increase
productivity and efficiency, the same procedures could be used to improve curriculum (Flinders
Thornton, p. 8). Bobbitt believed that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dewey as a humanist, declared that education should be culturally relevant, student centered, and
prepare children to become active citizens for a changing society. Humanists believe that all children
have the ability to develop different levels of mental reasoning. Education should help them expand
the development of their reasoning power to become independent thinkers and productive beings who
could lead to the improvement of society as a whole. Despite all of these differences, Bobbitt and
Dewey both agreed that some subjects were unnecessary and subject matter must have educational
value and relevance to the student s life. The biggest difference between the theories was that Dewey
placed the focus of the curriculum on the child, while Bobbitt did not. John Dewey s curriculum
method allows children to develop a passion for learning and brings out their natural inquisitiveness.
He believed the child needed to be involved in constructing their own learning, which meant they had
the freedom to make inquiries and mistakes in the process of learning. Children s active participation
for acquiring knowledge was his philosophy and to be a critical being was his ultimate goal. Dewey s
student centered methods can still be seen in many of today s schools across the nation. Unfortunately,
because of education reforms, more schools have chosen to abandon student centered strategies,
instead teaching students testing

Investigating the Reactions between Polyvinyl Alcohol and Borax in Making a Rubber Ball
Introduction
Chemistry, while usually thought of as being practiced mostly in labs, actually affects everyone,
everywhere. Chemistry and chemical processes are constantly occurring. We are dependent on them.
The air that we breathe, the food that we eat, and thousands of other simple and confusing things
depend on chemistry. In this particular case, the relationship between Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) and
Sodium Borate (Borax) is being investigated. PVA is a water soluble synthetic polymer (Maciborski,
and Salamone), while Borax is a natural mineral with many household uses. It can be used as
herbicide, to bleach teeth, as a household cleaner, and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The decision was made to manipulate the ratio of PVA to borax, as that would allow for different
results. The first ratio chosen was 10:1, as it was thought to be a good starting point. However, many
experiments are needed to reach a conclusion, so more ratios were tested out; the ratios 5:1, 3:1, and
2:1 were included as well, to get a variety of results. With all these different options, it would be
possible to see which ratio was the closest and how that would impact the rest of the experiment.
The Borax and PVA were poured from their respective beakers into a smaller (100mL) beaker, and
then the solutions were stirred together thoroughly. This was done for all the ratios. 20 mL of PVA and
2 mL of Borax were used for the 10:1 ratio; 10mL PVA and 2mL Borax for the 5:1. 12 mL PVA and
4mL Borax for the 3:1; and 10mL PVA and 5mL Borax for the 2:1 ratio.
The mixtures, after being made, were all allowed to rest in the beaker for 5 minutes. After the allotted
time, the mixtures were taken out of the beakers using rubber gloves, since they are a mild skin irritant
due to the fact that they contain Borax ( Material Safety Data Sheet ). They were then molded into a
ball and tested for durability, shape retention, and bounce. The ones having the best of all the
aforementioned qualities (5:1, 3:1, and 2:1 ratios) were then saved and put into plastic bags to be used
in the succeeding

Alcohol And The Social Network
In the study Alcohol and the Social Network: Online Social Networking Sites and College Students
Perceived Drinking Norms, Fournier, Hall, Ricke, and Storey studied the absence or presence of
alcohol content on social media and how it would effect the participants perceived drinking norms of
college students (Fournier et al., 2013, Pg. 86). Their hypothesis was that subjects that were in the
alcohol content group would estimate higher college alcohol norms than the group that did not see the
Facebook page with alcohol content in it (Fournier et al., Pg. 88). Another predicted, the drinker type
that the subject is (binge drinkers vs. non binge drinkers) would interact with the condition (non

college students alcohol use. In this study, the independent variables were the differences between
what was seen on the fictitious Facebook page, whether it included alcohol or non alcohol content,
and binge drinkers vs. non binge drinkers (Fournier et al., 2013, Pg. 89). The dependent variable is the
questionnaire that each of the groups took. It measured the following: personal alcohol use,
information about the fictitious profile, perceived drinking norms, and frequency and quantity in
which a student consumes alcohol per week (Fournier et al., 2013, Pg. 89). The fictitious Facebook
page only changed the content that was shown. In the study there were fifty seven participants; 39
female and 18 men, from the University in Midwestern United States. They recruited from an
introductory psychology class, and participants voluntarily signed up. The group was not as diverse,
but they were from different class years and aged from eighteen to thirty three. After the study was
over the participants were put into two groups: non binge drinkers and binge drinkers, based on their
answer on the questionnaire about how many drinks they consumed per sitting

Diary Of The Dead
Of all the Dead films, Diary of the Dead is by far one I enjoy the least. Not a sequel, but occurring at
the same time as the original film, as you can hear some of the broadcasts over the radio. It feels
disjointed with the other films as it feels like more a reboot than sharing any form of canonical order
with the other films in the series. Another big issue I have is the found footage/documentary approach
that the film takes. As it claims to be for us, to help us survive. The worlds ended and the internet
would have been one of the first things to collapse. How are we seeing this and by the point that we
would have seen it, chances are we already know all of this anyway. Rendering the very concept of
film pointless.
The film opens with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They feel paper thin, such as Tracy who s only defining trait is she s from Texas. Though this level of
one dimensional ism applies to the entire victim pool. With only Andrew Maxwell and that s a very
shaky statement.
My main issue is in the other Dead films, the core aspect of what the movie is about it subtle. Here the
message is not only blatant, but straight up repeated over and over. It doesn t happen if it didn t
happen on camera, along with the constant need to point out Jason is disconnected by viewing the
events through a camera. Going so far as to watch his friends nearly die because he refuses to set
down the camera long enough to help.
Final thoughts, Diary of the Dead is mostly a hot mess. Nothing the film tries to congeals all the well
and what few good parts it has are quickly passed over. Samuel being one of these aspects, how the
Amish survive or handle the zombie Apocalypse is an amazing thing to cover. But the character is
written off as quick as he s written in. This films only saving grace is that it isn t the final in the series.

Examples Of My Long Term Goals
My long term goal is to gain the skills that I can use to provide support to my community and I believe
I can do this by obtaining my bachelor s in nursing from Georgia College State University. I ve grown
up hearing stories of how charities and nurses helped my cousin s life be a good one. As a baby, she
was diagnosed with leukemia. The hospital, nurse s, and charities did amazing things to help her. They
made it a happy time for her. The nurses and community helped raise money for my family. I want to
be able to do the same for families as they did for mine. This is how I found what I wanted to do. I ve
always had a hard time deciding what I wanted to be. I just knew I wanted to be able to help people.

Diversity in Higher Education
Compiling a Case Study In higher education, diversity has many meanings and even more
implications. The Encarta World English Dictionary defines diversity as, social inclusiveness ethnic
variety, as well as socioeconomic and gender variety, in a group, society, or institution (Soukhanov,
1999). As important as diversity is tolerance. Encarta World English Dictionary defines tolerance as,
acceptance of different views the acceptance of the differing views of other people, e.g. in religious or
political matters, and fairness toward the people who hold these different views (Soukhanov, 1999).
The following is a definition of diversity in higher education, description of the diversity of the
students and staff of WGU, and how WGU ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Promoting Diversity and Tolerance
According to the Southern Poverty Law Center (2010), One in 10 students says that someone at school
has called them a derogatory word related to race, religion, ethnicity, disability, gender, or sexual
orientation in the past six months (as cited by Luther, Seeberger, Phelan, Simpson, p. 1, 2011). This
may be typical of traditional higher education organizations. However, online universities have the
unique ability to appeal to a wider population of students and staff without the common incidents of
racism, bigotry, and ageism experienced at brick and mortar universities. Following is a description of
how WGU appeals to a diverse student population and ensures a diverse population of faculty.
Student Stakeholders
There are multiple ways WGU appeals to a diverse student population. One way is through television
advertisement. Along with the main university, WGU has many state based universities that promote
their institution with local advertising. The advertising provided in each state varies based upon the
needs of the target students in that state. An example is an advertisement used by WGU Texas that
depicts graduation that features a pregnant mother who was able to finish her degree while being
pregnant and taking care of her other children. To add another element to the advertisement s appeal,
the pregnant mother is also African American.
Another method to increase diversity on the student side of the university

Johnathan Edwards Eucharist
The article Johnathan Edwards and the Closing of the Table is based upon Edwards view of the
practice of the Eucharist (Holy Communion). Crisp argues within hist article that Johnathan Edwards
beliefs should be studied and offer a challenge to contemporary theologians to think about these
matters more organically (Crisp, 49). Crisp gives an analysis of Johnathan Edwards beliefs on
communion, the process, and the requirements to obtain communion. He states that Edwards believed
that there had to be a confession of faith included with the communion service, and that only when
they gave an outward piece of evidence that they were converted from their sins that they should and
could obtain communion (Crisp, 55).
He explains the Johnathan Edwards view of the sacrament was in fact based on his personal
experiences and shifted through time. He argues with Edwards that the person who does not believe in
God should not be allowed to attend the Lord s Supper (Crisp, 63). Yet, Edward s also believed that a
person should live a pious life pleasing to God (Crisp, 57).
Crisp tends to agree with Edwards and ends his essay urging the reader to reconsider their views on
the sacrament of Holy Communion. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Edwards did not promote closed communion he promoted close communion. Edwards believed
that a person should believe like their brothers and sisters going to communion, while also confessing
their belief in the one true God. Edwards would not allow a person of unbelief to attend Holy
Communion, but he would not keep other Christians who confessed their same belief in Communion
from going. While the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod often tends to push for closed Communion
practices in many of the churches, Edwards pushes for a more understanding basis of closed

NextGen is a tremendous, historic shift to revamp the U.S. air transportation system. This all
embracing initiative integrates new and existing policies, procedures, and technologies, including
satellite navigation and advanced digital communications. Two major parts of this upgrade and
modernization include, but not limited to, Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System
(STARS) and En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM). These systems enable NextGen
capabilities in all phases of flight and safety. STARS for instance, replaces multiple automation
systems for controllers who provide control services to pilots in terminal airspace and the airspace
immediately surrounding major airports. Additionally, ERAM combines flight plan information with
surveillance data from Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS B), Wide Area Multi
lateration, and radar to automate many air traffic control functions. Other parts of ERAM include,
System Wide Information Management (SWIM), which provides the digital data sharing backbone of
NextGen. SWIM also connects producers and users of data with a common language and single point
of contact to access aeronautical, flight, and weather information. ADS B sends out broadcasts of an
aircraft s position, altitude, and velocity to a network of ground stations that relays the information to
air traffic control displays and nearby aircraft that are equipped to receive the data. Each component

Positive And Negative Impact Of Globalization
Globalization is truly a complex phenomenon. It indicates that the world today is getting smaller,
people from all around the world are interconnected than before. Globalization is driven by a
combination of economic, technological, sociocultural, and political factors. Jan Aart Scholte states
that Some people have associated globalization with progress, prosperity and peace. For others,
however, the word has conjured up deprivation, disaster and doom. In these paper I will discuss
positive and negative impact of globalization on society: at social, cultural, economical and political
level.
Can we expect a growing homogenization of culture globally what george ritzer (1996) It is true that
globalization can affect people s identities and cultural values; which can be altered significantly.
Although, at the same time globalization is expanding the knowledge of foreign cultures. Today s
young generations are developing an identity that gives them a sense of belonging to a worldwide
culture, they are aware of trends, styles, events and facts that are a part of the global culture. The
media such as television and Internet, are allowing user to pass on the message instantly anywhere in
the world and makes it easy for person to adopt different culture. For instance, the individual from non
western cultures, who are altering their own cultural values and beliefs, and accepting western culture

western clothings instead of sarees, Furthermore, in India at the dinner table, they serve pizza, pasta
and noodles, instead of traditional Indian food. At the same time, westerners adopting eastern culture;
they are exploring the yoga and meditation. In a globalized world, you may see McDonalds and
Starbucks everywhere in the world. Nevertheless, the same globalization escort various nation
cuisines across the world to explore. Think of all the quality Thai, Chinese, Indian or Mexican

Good And Evil In Mccarthy s Blood Meridian
It is evident, even in the first few pages of this novel, that evil plays a huge role in Blood Meridian.
On the first page of this book, McCarthy says ...in him broods already a taste for mindless violence
(3). So right from the start, the kids mind was set on evil, not good. There is a similarity in that
sentence with the Christian faith. Christians believe that from the very start of human life, everyone
has an evil nature. No one is born without sin. The whole reason for needing a Savior is because of
man s evil nature. People will search far and wide for something to make them feel whole. Until they
find Christ, they will not be fully satisfied. This thought can parallel with everything that the Kid has
done. From the start, he had evil intentions in his mind. He searched for someone or something to take
that out upon. He found the judge and Glanton, who assisted him in expressing his feelings (the evil
and hatred) through violence. He latched on to those who carried his same thoughts and began to act

The military is very strict on its policies for shaving in order to make its soldiers look more
presentable. In the military s view every soldier must be clean shaven with the exception of

makes soldiers look more professional. In the military s view full beards and moustaches are
unprofessional and undisciplined because it makes soldiers look like they don t care about their

Some other military s like the German military has no shaving regulation allowing their soldiers to
grow beards and moustaches as they please. This gives the German soldiers a more casual look rather
than a professional look. In my opinion soldiers should be allowed to grow out their beards and
moustaches as long and as thick as they want. The army is about discipline and control, however like a
teenage kid under his parents strict rules a soldier would want to break the rules in order to feel
freedom in their lives. By placing regulations on soldiers to constrict the soldiers into doing what one
person thinks is the most professional thing, helping a soldier be best prepared to protect his country
when in need? What about in a several day conflict against enemy troops? Is a soldier undisciplined or
unprofessional because he didn t shave while bullets were flying over his head? Maybe not, but the
army considers that soldier as undisciplined if that soldier doesn t shave immediately after coming
back from the field. In my eye s the army is telling that soldier that they don t care if that soldiers
friends died in that conflict, but the army does care about how that soldier looks after the battle. I can

The Impact of Public Announcements on the Stock Prices
Allocating the ownership of economy s stock capital is the primary role of capital market. In an ideal
market the price would provide accurate signals for allocation of resources. Ideal market is one in
which firm s production investment decisions and investor s decision regarding securities will depend
on the assumption that the security prices fully reflect available information at any point in time. A
market in which prices always fully reflect available information is called efficient.1
Anamika Sharma (2009) conducted a study to investigate the impact of public announcement of open
offer by testing the semi strong form of efficiency to draw inferences on the efficiency of stock market
through market adjusted abnormal model. The results of the study support that stock market is not
efficient in semi strong form and that open offer created a substantial value for shareholders of
company during the study period.2
S. Basu (1997) tested for the information content of price earnings multiple. He tested to see whether

Sympathy By Paul Laurence Dunbar
With it all, I cannot help being overwhelmed by self doubts. I hope there is something worthy in my
writings and not merely the novelty of a black face associated with the power to rhyme that has
attracted attend , by Paul Laurence Dunbar. ( Paul Laurence Dunbar quotes ) Dunbar was a poet that
experienced many difficult encounters with being African American ( Paul Laurence Dunbar 2 ).
Therefore, going through these multiple sorrows in his life is what inspired his greatest works as a
poet. He uses these difficulties to make poetry that can be influential to readers. Many poets have been
influential on American literature, including Paul Laurence Dunbar (Munroe Paul Laurence Dunbar ).

In the poem Dunbar associated his life and experiences with the words he uses in his poem. He
describes the tougher times in his life, that other people can relate too. Dunbar went through a variety
of events where he couldn t do something because of his ethnicity. That is another example of what he
is trying to relate to in Life s Tragedy . In the poem Dunbar uses alliteration and consonance. For
example in line seven and eight, There the potent sorrow, there the grief, the pale, sad staring. The
people he is speaking to is anyone that has gone through tragedies in their life that struggle to find joy.
Dunbar s perspective in the poem is he has gone through too much sorrow and pain in his time, that
when the good things do come it is difficult to enjoy them as you should. For example in line fifteen
till the end he says, We count our joys not by what we have, But by what kept us from that perfect
thing (Paul Laurence Dunbar Poem Hunter). The theme of this poem is to try and cherish the positive
things in life when they come along, rather than always think about the negative that has happened in
the past. Paul Laurence Dunbar s poem Life s Tragedy is spoken in the terms of reflection and

Changes Of Climate Change Across Earth
Hominins During the Pleistocene
What is the Pleistocene? According to Understanding Humans: Introduction to Physical Anthropology
and Archaeology, the Pleistocene, or the Ice Age, was a period 1.8 mya 10,000 ya marked by drastic
fluctuations of climate change across Earth. The Pleistocene alternated between extreme periods of
glaciations and interglacials. During glaciations, temperatures dropped drastically. In northern
continents this drop in temperature led to mass accumulations of ice, measuring nearly a mile thick;
however, these glaciers were not seen everywhere. In Africa, glaciations led to more arid and dry
climates. Interglacials, on the other hand, were periods of warmer climate. During interglacials,
climate would become ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During both the Early Pleistocene and the Middle Pleistocene, we see a number of hominins that
paved the way to modern human development (Boaz Ciochon, 2004). One of these hominins is Homo
erectus (Lewis et al., 2013). According to Lewis (2013) while it is probable that they first developed
developed in Africa, it also . . . seems likely that H. erectus first arose in East Africa and then very
quickly migrated to other continents ; however, it is hard to prove this hypothesis as new fossils are
found (p. 236). While H. erectus characteristics vary across continents, the majority share the same
range in body size, brains, and cranial shape. H. erectus adults had robust bodies weighing more than
100 lbs. and measuring 5 6 tall. The range in H. erectus brain size is 700 to 1250 cm(^3). The most
distinct characteristic of H. erectus is its cranial shape. The cranium displays a thick cranial bone,
large brow ridges, a pointy nuchal torus at the posterior, low forehead development, a wide cranium
base, and finally a sagittal keel (Lewis et al., 2013). According to The First Humans, environments
during the Early Pleistocene fluctuated, but they tended to be more open and wet than the Pliocene
environments before them. Thus, it was warmer. These open grassland environments yielded bulky,
herding mammals. The First Humans also suggests the anatomy and physiology of H. erectus allowed
for the endurance they needed in order to obtain these mammals for

The Boundary Of The Yakama Nation Reservation
Problems
The boundary of the Yakama Nation Reservation is considered home to different culturally diverse
populations. Parenting skills and teaching can vary dramatically from each of those unique
households. The diverse populations come with varying levels of what is considered appropriate child
rearing practices. Child abuse intakes are increasing due to families from Mexico coming here to the
US and the standards are different (Ruiz, 2015). Pilar Ruiz is a Social Worker at Children s
Administration assigned to the Child Protective Services. Families migrate to the area and they carry
different perspectives on parenting and may not understand the expectations of Washington State and
Child Abuse Laws. It is not only migrant families that need additional support. Families that have
been here for many years have traditional practices that may cross the line when it comes to child
abuse and neglect. These families that are located in this area need the additional support of increasing
family bonds, healthy parenting, life skills, bonding, and reducing violence and substance abuse.
Macro Personal Reality
Establishing positive parenting skills within the community will assist the parents in gaining new
alternatives to their current practices. Often we get the same families that are repeat offenders or they
never really learn their ways of parenting are not acceptable (Ruiz, 2015). Providing the Strong
Families curriculum will reduce the number of children that are

Amazing Grace Cliffie was telling Kozol how once he gave a homeless man his pizza, Kozol asked
Did your parents get mad at you?. Perhaps Kozol asked this question because he wants people to

Orville Wright. It showed how the brothers developed their own airplane that was talked about around
the world. It showed the math, science, and mechanics that went into building the first plane. This
book would interest math teachers, science teachers, engineers, pilots, and whomever is interested in

Administrative Law is the by-product of constitutional law
INTRODUCTION Administrative law is the most growing phenomenon in the field of state welfare
for today . It has become very necessary in the developed society as the relationship between the
administrative authority and the people have become very complex . In order to regulate these
relations, there is a need of law which will provide a certainty and a check to the misuse of power by
the administrative authority . The requirement of such law is fulfilled by the administrative law. So

A constitution provides a framework of principles that creates the structure and purpose of a human
organisation. A constitution is the result of historical events and personalities . Constitutional law thus,
means that part of Law which relates to the system of government of a country. It can also be defined
as those laws which regulate the structure of the principal organs of government and their relationship
with each other and with the citizen and it also determine their main functions. Constitutional law
actually forms the backbone of public law . It is that branch of public law which determines the nature
of the state, nature and structures of the government its powers, functions, division of powers among
different constitutional organs, their relationship to each other and above all the relationship between
the state and the individuals . Constitutional law makes it possible for us to act collectively by
coordinating the interest of many individuals. It also protects individuals against abuses by those to
whom we entrust power it being a sad feature of human nature that those who seek power may be
unfit to exercise it. Constitutional law concerns a struggle between rival contenders for power, the
constantly changing relationship between the different governmental institutions and limits imposed
on the government. So we can see from the above discussion that constitutional law and

Cause Of Racism
Ban Ki moon, a South Korean diplomat, once said, Defeating racism, tribalism, intolerance and all
forms of discrimination will liberate us all, victim and perpetrator alike. This quote from Ban Ki moon
s 2011 speech suggests that the people of earth must be liberated from racism, but what caused us to
be enslaved in the first place? What has caused racism to prevail long enough to infect and poison our
community? Racism has been prevalent because of fear, social and economic status, and the high self
esteem within individuals.
Humans naturally seek to protect their own kind, which means they fear any threat that could
compromise the safety of the people in their own racial community. Although fear is a natural

People are often criticized by where their residency is, their race, their income, what type of car they
drive and so on; these things are also taken into consideration when a community is placing someone
into a societal class in their minds. According to CNN, in 2015 the percentage of Americans living
under the poverty level was 13.5%. In this same year, the percentage of African Americans living
under the poverty level was 24.7 %, almost twice the national level. Since there are more African
Americans in poverty stricken places, there is a greater feeling of superiority amongst some people
over the African Americans. These statistics also may cause people to generalize all African
Americans as poor since the number is so high. This is because they are automatically placed into a
lower class in other s minds, giving upper class people the habit of treating all African Americans like
they are inferior. Liberty1995, an author from CNN, also reveals, In a study done at the University of
Michigan it was found that all minorities are viewed negatively by whites in terms of potential for
violence. It was also found, through the same study, that 45% of whites think blacks are lazy and
incompetent; 29% think blacks are unintelligent; less than one in five think blacks are hardworking,
and 56% of whites feel that blacks would rather live on welfare than get an education and work. These

Fruit and Robots: Two Operating Systems in the Mobile Market
Apple s iOS and Google s Android operating systems (OS) are both used in similar devices, tablets
and phones. However, the look and feel of both is very different. Smartphones and tablet computers
have become increasingly popular; two operating systems have come to the forefront, iOS, and
Android. Both contain similarities but the way in which they are used, and the devices they are used
on are similar but once the OS s are put on become vastly different. Many other operating systems

This can cause problems for the company because it can fragment their market share as well as
confuse the public. Not all devices run all OS versions, not all devices look the same because of the
skinning that comes from some hardware manufacturers.
One major difference between the two operating systems is the fact that Android is part of the Android
Open Source Project (AOSP) which allows developers access to the Software Development Kit (SDK)
to develop applications for Android devices, which is the most important part of the new Smartphone
market. Apple, as with most things they release have a closed system, you have to pay to become a
developer and develop with tools they proved. This puts a burden on the developers right away
because Android is extensively free, while iOS has an initial cost to even get started, and that s if you
already have an Intel based Mac.
Application development itself is different in the respect that they use different programming
languages to create the applications (apps). Android applications are usually developed using the Java
language but with tools that are available can be created using C, or C++. Apple iOS applications are
created using their own custom software and Objective C language. The approval process one
applications are developed are also much different. With an Android App is developed it can be sold

we resist. I felt the resistance even with Mrs. Candace s class. The first month of this semester modern
was very difficult for me, not because I was incapable but because I was not in a mental place to

Proximate Cause Of Car Accident
The diver s injury from a defective steering wheel meets proximate cause. According to Melvin and
Katz (2015), proximate cause is met when a breach of duty occurs in the closest proximity of the
incident and without an unforeseen event that cancels out liability. In the case of the accident,
proximate cause is met because a motorist being involved in an accident is not an unreasonable
occurrence. In addition, the steering wheel manufacturer is held at a strict liability due to the
manufacturing of goods for consumers. According to Stewart (2016), a manufacturer is liable for
injuries when the product is proven defective and is unreasonably dangerous. For example, in West v.
Caterpillar Tractor Co., Inc., West, who was a dealer of Caterpillar s products, claimed that because
manufacturers imply their products are safe, the manufacturer holds the burden of liability. Moreover,
the plaintiff must prove the manufacturer s relationship to the defective product, the dangerous
condition, and proximate cause of related injuries. In the case of the driver suing the manufacturer of
the steering mechanism, the plaintiff must prove the manufacturer produced the defective mechanism,
the reason the mechanism caused the injury, and proximate cause. A likely defense from the
manufacturer will be the cause of the motorist s accident. However, vehicle accidents are not outside
the scope of a likely event; therefore, the plaintiff will have a strong case.
Question 2: A tenant hurts herself falling down defective steps. The tenant sues the landlord s
insurance company, alleging that they knew the steps were defective but insured him anyway, thus
discouraging him from fixing them.
The tenant s injury is does not meet proximate cause to the insurance company s product.
According to Melvin and Katz (2015), proximate cause relates to the nearest breach of duty associated
with the harm. In other words, the acts of intervening negligence from the landlord exempts the
insurance company s proximate cause, thus causing liability to fall upon the landlord. Moreover, the
property owner s duties include notifying guests of hazards, duty to inspect, and duty to repair defects.
Various state laws require property owners certain

Tregs Immune System
Healthy individuals have their immune system working properly to protect them from pathogens.
Leukocytes are a part of the immune system that circulate in the blood (white cells). Lymphocytes are
one subset of leukocytes that recognize and respond to their specific antigens (e.g. peptides from an
external agent). T cells are a group of lymphocytes that mature in the thymus. Under exposure to their
specific antigen, conventional T cells are activated, leading to secretion of growth cytokines
(predominantly interleukine 2, denoted IL 2), and expression of the interleukine 2 receptor which
triggers cytokine driven proliferation cite{deboer87,thornton98,BOP2006}. However, the immune

The Ocean Has Been My Favorite Environment
For as long as I can remember, the ocean has been my favorite environment. It s the only place that I
constantly feel at one with the earth and my surroundings. From an early age I always had an idea on
what I wanted to pursue as my career. I would read books about the oceanic world below and The
Great Barrier Reef in Australia. It wasn t until I encountered a wild dolphin at Clearwater beach,
Florida that I decided to be a marine biologist. The dolphin was so friendly and welcoming, swimming
by me and my brother and allowing us to stroke his slimy skin. That experience will stick with me
forever and is a huge part of why I want to pursue a career in marine biology.
When I chose to be a marine biologist, my parents were very supportive. They would take us to the
beach as much as possible for vacations, but also for me to be in that environment often. There are
numerous goals that I would hope to accomplish in my field like being promoted to the highest
position possible and being paid the maximum salary. Those goals will motivate me to work to my
fullest potential and always work my hardest. My ultimate goal is of course to help the world by
finding better ways to help out the ocean biome and to make the animals that live there become safer.
Making sure the animals are being treated good and the environment will help the surface world in
multiple ways.

progressive MS (PPMS). Despite the most common appearance of MS, which is progressive relapsing

Why We Crave Horror Stephen King Analysis
Stephen King said, Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They re inside us, and sometimes, they
win. This quote sums up the arguments made in the article Why We Crave Horror and what King
believes. Stephen King makes three correct claims saying that humans crave horror to have a peculiar
sort of fun, face our fears, and reestablish our feelings of normalcy.
Humans use horror to have a peculiar type of fun. Knowing that this horrific event won t actually
happen allows people to enjoy watching it. Stephen King says in his article, Why We Crave Horror
Movies , that One critic has suggested that if pro football has become the voyeur s version of combat,
then the horror film has become the modern version of public lynching (2). ... Show more content on

Humans typically want to avoid the subject of death so when they read horror or other scenarios about
people dying they face their fears of death. In Strawberry Spring , by Stephen King, there was a
college student who had her throat cut from ear to ear (1). While reading this humans our facing their
fears on the subject of death. Having fears is part of the Human Condition and is completely normal.
Even though these fears are normal, most people still try to face them and horror is a way to do that.
The last claim that Stephen King makes is that humans crave horror to re establish their feeling of
normalcy. Humans are jealous of others and have insecurities about themselves which is a part of the
Human Condition but horror gives them a opportunity to change these views. Compared to the
narrator and the events of Strawberry Spring, we reestablish our feelings of essential normality (King,
Why We Crave 1). When readers of Strawberry Spring discover that the narrator had been the killer
they are reassured that even their low points in life haven t been as bad as that. An example from
Stephen King is Freda Jackson as the horrible melting women in Die, Monster, Die! (King, Why We
Crave 1). He uses Freda Jackson as an example because when you compare yourself to her than you
are light years away from true ugliness (King, Why We Crave 1). Also, even if people feel like they ve

Daisy Bates Primary And Secondary Sources
The way in which the research is going to be approached will consist of reading, analyzing and
listening to multiple sources on the life of Daisy Bates. This will include examining both components
of the life of Daisy Bates, her involvement in the movement and how this involvement transitioned
into her personal life. I will be looking specifically at the leadership style she employs as a leader of
the movement, the president of the NAACP and as the leader of the Little Rock Integration Crisis. I
will examine both primary and secondary sources to obtain this information. The primary sources I
plan on utilizing are an autobiography, a recorded interview manuscript and a personal letter from
Daisy Bates to Roy Wilkins. The secondary sources that

Great Smog Of London And The Scientific Implications In...
The Great Smog of London and the Scientific Implications in Today s World
Turn of the century London, the emergence of the middle class has forced the cultural bias to shift in
favor of more homes, more people, and a lot of energy consumption. Science s solution to the energy
crisis is a seemingly perfect one: distribute and utilize a more available fuel. Coal burned slower than
wood and therefore kept people and homes warm more resourcefully. For a while it seemed like a
miracle solution. The industrialization of the previous age had been using coal as well, and when the
air became polluted with the factory and energy refuse, the smog was swept away in a matter of hours
(Kilen, C.) That went on until early winter of 1952. That fall had been an unusually cold one, and the
coal had been burning day and night. The factories had been chugging on, and the black smoke kept
rolling. The process by which factories burn coal is as follows: the coal is blown into the furnace
where it burns while still airborne. The heat is used to warm water, which then produces steam, which
spines a turbine. The factories that burn coal now use methods to slightly lessen the pollution, such as
wet limestone to absorb the sulfur (How Coal Works, Union of Concerned Scientists, p.4). This
particular winter, though, the pollutants would not be swept away as they had been in the past. This is
due to the fact that on this particularly cold December, an inversion occurred over the city of London.

Reflective Essay On Cheerleading
In the summer prior to my freshman year of high school, I decided I wanted to try out for the school
cheerleading team. The idea of being a member of a team of passionate girls excited me, as well as
relieved anxieties I had about entering a new school; I enjoy the health benefits of regular exercise;
and the rigorous schedule was the discipline I was looking for when entering high school. I had
decisively made up my mind; I would be on the cheerleading team in high school. Unfortunately, my
plan did not unfold the way I imagined. Nearly 40 girls tried out, and with only a dozen spots
available on the team, a majority of the girls would not make it past the tryouts, myself included.
Although I did not have any cheer experience, I had hoped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The pain I felt was overwhelming, and the mourning never truly comes to an end. Sadly, I had decided
I would not try out for the high school team, as I felt the heaviness of life weighing down on my
shoulders. The summer going into my senior year was necessarily a period of introspection, where I
had attentively contemplated what I wanted to achieve in life. The situation of my friend was no less
painful, but made me realize that in order to live life to the fullest, I must at least attempt to achieve
my goals. It was my last chance to try out for the team, a goal I had set for myself four years earlier.
Ultimately, I decided to fight through my anxieties and give it a shot. I am proud to say that I am now
a cheerleader for Sanford H. Calhoun High School. Throughout my years long attempt to make the
cheerleading team, I had learned that failure is an inevitable aspect of life. I also learned that I have a
strong sense of determination and will power. By setting goals, I am able to maneuver my way
towards success, one step at a time. With an end goal in mind, I also have learned to enjoy the journey
of life. Without the initial rejection, I would never have joined Platinum Athletic and made some of
my closest friends, an experience I am grateful for. My determination to succeed is an integral aspect
of my personality, and I take pride in both my failures and

Why I Want To Become A Neuro-Ambassador
During nearly the entirety of orientation, I felt rather lost and especially confused, as I am not from
Ohio, no one in my family had been to a university like OSU, nor did anyone in my family know
anything about what I wanted to major in. I truly felt like everyone else was two steps ahead of me,
and I especially had issues when it came to scheduling. I do not remember her name, but there was
one Neuro Ambassador in particular that helped me for such a long time because I had a lot of
incoming credits from other schools that I had no idea what to do with. As soon as she noticed I was
struggling she came up to me and asked me how she could help, and she worked me until we figured
out every bit of it. She especially made me feel comfortable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I really want it to be a bigger program that is more active with the students in the major, because I
really do see a lot great potential in the program and their relevance in the major. I d love for them to
create new ways to actively put people together in the major and provide a platform wherein we can
work together more or perhaps just meet others in the major so we can collaborate on reaching our
goals together. Not only that, but for them to maybe set up events and stuff to help educate kids on
how to be successful in the major, because figuring everything out essentially on your own is so

Pygmalion Movie Vs Play
Imagine growing up and having to sell flowers on the street to anyone who passes to make a living.
Eliza Doolittle is a person who had live this way until Henry Higgins and Colonel
Pickering took her under their wings and transformed her old, dirty, and informal self into a fine lady.
To do so Eliza has to learn how to speak proper and get rid of her nasty old ways. However, after she
is transformed she knows not what is to become of her, but she realizes she does not have to put up
with Higgins anymore. The film and the play compare and contrast in different ways through the use
of music and the characters actions towards one another. Throughout the play there was very little
music compared to the film which could be considered a musical. ... Show more content on

Also,
Higgins and Eliza have moments where they begin to sing about the short lines Higgins has Eliza
reading in order to improve her pronunciation (Levin, 1964). Therefore, the play and the film contrast
with the use of music because the book does not implement the musical approach as the film does.
On the other hand, the characters in Pygmalion and My Fair Lady perform both similar and different
actions compared to one or the other. Additionally, however both the play and the film mostly shared
similar actions rather than being unalike. For example, Eliza says in the final act of the play that
Pickering treats a flower girl as if she was a duchess (Shaw, 1916,
PYGMALION AND MY FAIR LADY COMPARISON 4
p.g. 83). Therefore, throughout both Pickering was always very respectful to Eliza and treated her how
any woman would want to be treated. On the other hand, Higgins did not treat Eliza with the respect
she thought that she deserved and this made her angry in both the film and the play. When she realizes
this completely in the play she tells him So you are a motor bus: all bounce and go, and no
consideration for anyone. But I can do without you. I told you I

Dog Mabel Research Paper
As the evening fell, the dark blue night rose up across the sky. I laid under the stars in my back yard,
as I do every night with my dog Mabel. Mabel was approaching her old ages but she was a great
listener. Usually I tell her about my day or fairy tales, tonight I told her about my mom. My mother
passed away in a car accident when I was only a baby, she was the most loving person I knew and I
miss her everyday, and sometimes it helps to talk about her. As I lay talking curled up next to mabel I
could feel my eyes getting heavier and heavier as the warm summer breeze brushed past my face. And
that was the last thing I remember, now i m standing on the corner of Shelmet and Maine. I recognize
the area, it s not too far from my house, but a few of the buildings are different now. I walk across the
street to a old fashioned diner and as I approach the door the cashier yells no dogs aloud! I look down
and Mabel is standing right beside me. I leave the diner and along ... Show more content on

I ran across the street and almost got hit by a two bicyclist, I pick up the newspaper lying on the bench
dated May 18, 2007. As I flip through the paper I see the obituary of my mother, I knew this wasn t
just a coincidence, this was my chance. I sat down on the same section of the sidewalk I sat before,
although now it has many cracks. I repeated under my breath May 16 2007 several times until finally I
was placed on the same street corner again. I m almost too positive it s the right date so I run down the
street and take a left then I take two rights until I approach my driveway. As i m just about to open the
backdoor with the key that s kept in the seat cushion near the door I realize my parents don t know me,
and I can t just walk in. I head behind the garage to strategize, I came up with the plan that i ll knock
on the door and talk to them about a lost dog for a while, hoping to push back their schedule enough to

Essay on Ilm M3.11 Building the Team
Unit M3.11 Building the Team The purpose of this assignment requires consideration of how to
develop and maintain trust at work, as well as how teams are built within the workplace and what
effects and concerns a manager needs to be aware of. Teams are more than just groups of people
assembled in the same area, they are a collection of individuals dedicated to a common purpose and
with a series of detailed performance targets, working together with complementary skills. Teams of
people are encountered in various scenarios, not just in the workplace, but also throughout life, such as
sports, associations, charities and voluntary services. Effective teams are built on trust and are

All with differing skills and levels of experience, to allow a service to be provided efficiently and
effectively. Each member of the team has a purpose and a function within that team, so the overall
success depends on a functional interdependency. There is usually not as much room for conflict when
working as a team. The team also does not rely on groupthink to arrive at its conclusions. There are
many theories on the ways that group form and become efficient and effective teams. One of the best
known team development theories was first developed by Bruce Tuckman in 1965 and has formed the
basis of many further ideas since its conception. Tuckman s theory focuses on the way in which a team
tackles a task from the initial formation of the team through to the completion of the project. Tuckman
s theory is particularly relevant to team building challenges as the phases are relevant to the
completion of any task undertaken by a team but also the development of a team in the grander
scheme. The Model and stages are described below in the order that Tuckman identified: Forming The
team is assembled and the task is allocated. Team members behave independently, with anxieties
about inclusion and exclusion. Their time is spent planning, collecting information and bonding, with
an apparent willingness to conform. This can happen whenever new circumstances occur within a
group, or when new challenges or projects are set within established

  • 4. The Fast Food Industry Has Grown Over The Past Years, And The fast food industry has grown over the past years, and now a new type of food service has arise in the form of gas stations. Wawa and Sheetz are these new dominators, who strive on providing quick service and great food. Since these are success stories, other gas stations have tried to replicate these companies but have not struck the consumer as much as Wawa and Sheetz. The consumer fanbase for each company is extreme. Fans of Wawa have been known to get the logo tattooed on their biceps, and fans of Sheetz call themselves sheetzfreaks and sometimes linger on the vicinity into the early morning hours. Both of these companies have excelled and this paper aims to examine why this has occurred, particularly examining the PR practices of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, both companies have been able to combine these aspects which is attractive to many consumers. Perhaps looking at the history of both companies can lead some insight to this transformation. Sheetz was founded in 1952 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and began to spread out as primarily convenience stores. In 1972 the company had expanded to seven to fourteen stores, and a year later Sheetz added gasoline pumps. It was in 1995 that Sheetz began to introduce touchscreen ordering and their food and beverage products, offering high quality food at a gas convenience store ( Our History ). Conversely, Wawa began in 1964 and was a food market, and added more food products throughout the beginning years. The gas station aspect of the company was not introduced until 1996, and chiefly the company provided a deli and convenience store service. Touchscreens were installed in 2002, and the company has continued to expand their food products while spreading along the east coast ( Wawa: 50 Years Counting ). Interestingly, both companies started as food based and moved to provide other services over time. This is perhaps why the companies have a passion for serving quality food, since it is in their roots. This is common in the fast food industry, and Sheetz and Wawa have taken this service to a new level. Fast food providers are widespread and have large populations who flock to them. However, since Sheetz and Wawa are more condense in their spread ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Education System Must Be Redesigned During the first three decades of the twentieth century, the progressive era had catapulted curriculum theory into a field of scientific inquiry. Its structure had been differentiated and the curriculum content had been expanded. All changes were created to meet the demands of a newly industrialized and urbanized civilization, and as a result scientific management became the guide for the development and implementation of the new curriculum. Franklin Bobbitt, one of the 19th century front runners of scientific curriculum, stated that if the scientific procedures utilized in factories could increase productivity and efficiency, the same procedures could be used to improve curriculum (Flinders Thornton, p. 8). Bobbitt believed that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dewey as a humanist, declared that education should be culturally relevant, student centered, and prepare children to become active citizens for a changing society. Humanists believe that all children have the ability to develop different levels of mental reasoning. Education should help them expand the development of their reasoning power to become independent thinkers and productive beings who could lead to the improvement of society as a whole. Despite all of these differences, Bobbitt and Dewey both agreed that some subjects were unnecessary and subject matter must have educational value and relevance to the student s life. The biggest difference between the theories was that Dewey placed the focus of the curriculum on the child, while Bobbitt did not. John Dewey s curriculum method allows children to develop a passion for learning and brings out their natural inquisitiveness. He believed the child needed to be involved in constructing their own learning, which meant they had the freedom to make inquiries and mistakes in the process of learning. Children s active participation for acquiring knowledge was his philosophy and to be a critical being was his ultimate goal. Dewey s student centered methods can still be seen in many of today s schools across the nation. Unfortunately, because of education reforms, more schools have chosen to abandon student centered strategies, instead teaching students testing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Investigating the Reactions Between Polyvinyl Alcohol and... Investigating the Reactions between Polyvinyl Alcohol and Borax in Making a Rubber Ball Introduction Chemistry, while usually thought of as being practiced mostly in labs, actually affects everyone, everywhere. Chemistry and chemical processes are constantly occurring. We are dependent on them. The air that we breathe, the food that we eat, and thousands of other simple and confusing things depend on chemistry. In this particular case, the relationship between Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) and Sodium Borate (Borax) is being investigated. PVA is a water soluble synthetic polymer (Maciborski, and Salamone), while Borax is a natural mineral with many household uses. It can be used as herbicide, to bleach teeth, as a household cleaner, and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The decision was made to manipulate the ratio of PVA to borax, as that would allow for different results. The first ratio chosen was 10:1, as it was thought to be a good starting point. However, many experiments are needed to reach a conclusion, so more ratios were tested out; the ratios 5:1, 3:1, and 2:1 were included as well, to get a variety of results. With all these different options, it would be possible to see which ratio was the closest and how that would impact the rest of the experiment. The Borax and PVA were poured from their respective beakers into a smaller (100mL) beaker, and then the solutions were stirred together thoroughly. This was done for all the ratios. 20 mL of PVA and 2 mL of Borax were used for the 10:1 ratio; 10mL PVA and 2mL Borax for the 5:1. 12 mL PVA and 4mL Borax for the 3:1; and 10mL PVA and 5mL Borax for the 2:1 ratio. The mixtures, after being made, were all allowed to rest in the beaker for 5 minutes. After the allotted time, the mixtures were taken out of the beakers using rubber gloves, since they are a mild skin irritant due to the fact that they contain Borax ( Material Safety Data Sheet ). They were then molded into a ball and tested for durability, shape retention, and bounce. The ones having the best of all the aforementioned qualities (5:1, 3:1, and 2:1 ratios) were then saved and put into plastic bags to be used in the succeeding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Alcohol And The Social Network In the study Alcohol and the Social Network: Online Social Networking Sites and College Students Perceived Drinking Norms, Fournier, Hall, Ricke, and Storey studied the absence or presence of alcohol content on social media and how it would effect the participants perceived drinking norms of college students (Fournier et al., 2013, Pg. 86). Their hypothesis was that subjects that were in the alcohol content group would estimate higher college alcohol norms than the group that did not see the Facebook page with alcohol content in it (Fournier et al., Pg. 88). Another predicted, the drinker type that the subject is (binge drinkers vs. non binge drinkers) would interact with the condition (non alcohol content on Facebook page vs. ... In this study, the independent variables were the differences between what was seen on the fictitious Facebook page, whether it included alcohol or non alcohol content, and binge drinkers vs. non binge drinkers (Fournier et al., 2013, Pg. 89). The dependent variable is the questionnaire that each of the groups took. It measured the following: personal alcohol use, information about the fictitious profile, perceived drinking norms, and frequency and quantity in which a student consumes alcohol per week (Fournier et al., 2013, Pg. 89). The fictitious Facebook page only changed the content that was shown. In the study there were fifty seven participants; 39 female and 18 men, from the University in Midwestern United States. They recruited from an introductory psychology class, and participants voluntarily signed up. The group was not as diverse, but they were from different class years and aged from eighteen to thirty three. After the study was over the participants were put into two groups: non binge drinkers and binge drinkers, based on their answer on the questionnaire about how many drinks they consumed per sitting ... • 9. Diary Of The Dead Of all the Dead films, Diary of the Dead is by far one I enjoy the least. Not a sequel, but occurring at the same time as the original film, as you can hear some of the broadcasts over the radio. It feels disjointed with the other films as it feels like more a reboot than sharing any form of canonical order with the other films in the series. Another big issue I have is the found footage/documentary approach that the film takes. As it claims to be for us, to help us survive. The worlds ended and the internet would have been one of the first things to collapse. How are we seeing this and by the point that we would have seen it, chances are we already know all of this anyway. Rendering the very concept of film pointless. The film opens with ... Here the message is not only blatant, but straight up repeated over and over. It doesn t happen if it didn t happen on camera, along with the constant need to point out Jason is disconnected by viewing the events through a camera. Going so far as to watch his friends nearly die because he refuses to set down the camera long enough to help. Final thoughts, Diary of the Dead is mostly a hot mess. Nothing the film tries to congeals all the well and what few good parts it has are quickly passed over. • 11. Diversity in Higher Education Compiling a Case Study In higher education, diversity has many meanings and even more implications. The Encarta World English Dictionary defines diversity as, social inclusiveness ethnic variety, as well as socioeconomic and gender variety, in a group, society, or institution (Soukhanov, 1999). As important as diversity is tolerance. Encarta World English Dictionary defines tolerance as, acceptance of different views the acceptance of the differing views of other people, e.g. in religious or political matters, and fairness toward the people who hold these different views (Soukhanov, 1999). Promoting Diversity and Tolerance According to the Southern Poverty Law Center (2010), One in 10 students says that someone at school has called them a derogatory word related to race, religion, ethnicity, disability, gender, or sexual orientation in the past six months (as cited by Luther, Seeberger, Phelan, Simpson, p. 1, 2011). This may be typical of traditional higher education organizations. However, online universities have the unique ability to appeal to a wider population of students and staff without the common incidents of racism, bigotry, and ageism experienced at brick and mortar universities. Following is a description of how WGU appeals to a diverse student population and ensures a diverse population of faculty. Student Stakeholders There are multiple ways WGU appeals to a diverse student population. One way is through television advertisement. Along with the main university, WGU has many state based universities that promote their institution with local advertising. The advertising provided in each state varies based upon the needs of the target students in that state. An example is an advertisement used by WGU Texas that depicts graduation that features a pregnant mother who was able to finish her degree while being pregnant and taking care of her other children. To add another element to the advertisement s appeal, the pregnant mother is also African American. Another method to increase diversity on the student side of the university ... • 12. Johnathan Edwards Eucharist The article Johnathan Edwards and the Closing of the Table is based upon Edwards view of the practice of the Eucharist (Holy Communion). Crisp argues within hist article that Johnathan Edwards beliefs should be studied and offer a challenge to contemporary theologians to think about these matters more organically (Crisp, 49). Crisp gives an analysis of Johnathan Edwards beliefs on communion, the process, and the requirements to obtain communion. He states that Edwards believed that there had to be a confession of faith included with the communion service, and that only when they gave an outward piece of evidence that they were converted from their sins that they should and could obtain communion (Crisp, 55). He explains the Johnathan Edwards view of the sacrament was in fact based on his personal experiences and shifted through time. He argues with Edwards that the person who does not believe in God should not be allowed to attend the Lord s Supper (Crisp, 63). Yet, Edward s also believed that a person should live a pious life pleasing to God (Crisp, 57). Crisp tends to agree with Edwards and ends his essay urging the reader to reconsider their views on the sacrament of Holy Communion. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... NextGen is a tremendous, historic shift to revamp the U.S. air transportation system. This all embracing initiative integrates new and existing policies, procedures, and technologies, including satellite navigation and advanced digital communications. Two major parts of this upgrade and modernization include, but not limited to, Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS) and En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM). These systems enable NextGen capabilities in all phases of flight and safety. STARS for instance, replaces multiple automation systems for controllers who provide control services to pilots in terminal airspace and the airspace immediately surrounding major airports. Additionally, ERAM combines flight plan information with surveillance data from Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS B), Wide Area Multi lateration, and radar to automate many air traffic control functions. Other parts of ERAM include, System Wide Information Management (SWIM), which provides the digital data sharing backbone of NextGen. SWIM also connects producers and users of data with a common language and single point of contact to access aeronautical, flight, and weather information. ADS B sends out broadcasts of an aircraft s position, altitude, and velocity to a network of ground stations that relays the information to air traffic control displays and nearby aircraft that are equipped to receive the data. It indicates that the world today is getting smaller, people from all around the world are interconnected than before. Globalization is driven by a combination of economic, technological, sociocultural, and political factors. Jan Aart Scholte states that Some people have associated globalization with progress, prosperity and peace. For others, however, the word has conjured up deprivation, disaster and doom. In these paper I will discuss positive and negative impact of globalization on society: at social, cultural, economical and political level. • 16. Good And Evil In Mccarthy s Blood Meridian It is evident, even in the first few pages of this novel, that evil plays a huge role in Blood Meridian. On the first page of this book, McCarthy says ...in him broods already a taste for mindless violence (3). So right from the start, the kids mind was set on evil, not good. There is a similarity in that sentence with the Christian faith. Christians believe that from the very start of human life, everyone has an evil nature. No one is born without sin. The whole reason for needing a Savior is because of man s evil nature. People will search far and wide for something to make them feel whole. Until they find Christ, they will not be fully satisfied. This thought can parallel with everything that the Kid has done. From the start, he had evil intentions in his mind. He searched for someone or something to take that out upon. He found the judge and Glanton, who assisted him in expressing his feelings (the evil and hatred) through violence. He latched on to those who carried his same thoughts and began to act just ... By placing regulations on soldiers to constrict the soldiers into doing what one person thinks is the most professional thing, helping a soldier be best prepared to protect his country when in need? Maybe not, but the army considers that soldier as undisciplined if that soldier doesn t shave immediately after coming back from the field. In an ideal market the price would provide accurate signals for allocation of resources. Ideal market is one in which firm s production investment decisions and investor s decision regarding securities will depend on the assumption that the security prices fully reflect available information at any point in time. A market in which prices always fully reflect available information is called efficient.1 Anamika Sharma (2009) conducted a study to investigate the impact of public announcement of open offer by testing the semi strong form of efficiency to draw inferences on the efficiency of stock market through market adjusted abnormal model. The results of the study support that stock market is not efficient in semi strong form and that open offer created a substantial value for shareholders of company during the study period.2 S. Basu (1997) tested for the information content of price earnings multiple. He tested to see whether low P/E stocks outperform stocks with high P/E ratios. If historical P/E ratios provided useful information for obtaining higher stock returns then it would be refutation of semi strong form of efficient market hypothesis. For example in line seven and eight, There the potent sorrow, there the grief, the pale, sad staring. The people he is speaking to is anyone that has gone through tragedies in their life that struggle to find joy. Dunbar s perspective in the poem is he has gone through too much sorrow and pain in his time, that when the good things do come it is difficult to enjoy them as you should. According to Lewis (2013) while it is probable that they first developed developed in Africa, it also . . . seems likely that H. erectus first arose in East Africa and then very quickly migrated to other continents ; however, it is hard to prove this hypothesis as new fossils are found (p. 236). While H. erectus characteristics vary across continents, the majority share the same range in body size, brains, and cranial shape. H. erectus adults had robust bodies weighing more than 100 lbs. and measuring 5 6 tall. The range in H. erectus brain size is 700 to 1250 cm(^3). The most distinct characteristic of H. erectus is its cranial shape. The cranium displays a thick cranial bone, large brow ridges, a pointy nuchal torus at the posterior, low forehead development, a wide cranium base, and finally a sagittal keel (Lewis et al., 2013). • 36. Proximate Cause Of Car Accident The diver s injury from a defective steering wheel meets proximate cause. According to Melvin and Katz (2015), proximate cause is met when a breach of duty occurs in the closest proximity of the incident and without an unforeseen event that cancels out liability. In the case of the accident, proximate cause is met because a motorist being involved in an accident is not an unreasonable occurrence. In addition, the steering wheel manufacturer is held at a strict liability due to the manufacturing of goods for consumers. According to Stewart (2016), a manufacturer is liable for injuries when the product is proven defective and is unreasonably dangerous. For example, in West v. Caterpillar Tractor Co., Inc., West, who was a dealer of Caterpillar s products, claimed that because manufacturers imply their products are safe, the manufacturer holds the burden of liability. Moreover, the plaintiff must prove the manufacturer s relationship to the defective product, the dangerous condition, and proximate cause of related injuries. In the case of the driver suing the manufacturer of the steering mechanism, the plaintiff must prove the manufacturer produced the defective mechanism, the reason the mechanism caused the injury, and proximate cause. A likely defense from the manufacturer will be the cause of the motorist s accident. However, vehicle accidents are not outside the scope of a likely event; therefore, the plaintiff will have a strong case. Question 2: A tenant hurts herself falling down defective steps. The tenant sues the landlord s insurance company, alleging that they knew the steps were defective but insured him anyway, thus discouraging him from fixing them. The tenant s injury is does not meet proximate cause to the insurance company s product. According to Melvin and Katz (2015), proximate cause relates to the nearest breach of duty associated with the harm. In other words, the acts of intervening negligence from the landlord exempts the insurance company s proximate cause, thus causing liability to fall upon the landlord. Moreover, the property owner s duties include notifying guests of hazards, duty to inspect, and duty to repair defects. Various state laws require property owners certain ... Leukocytes are a part of the immune system that circulate in the blood (white cells). Lymphocytes are one subset of leukocytes that recognize and respond to their specific antigens (e.g. peptides from an external agent). T cells are a group of lymphocytes that mature in the thymus. Under exposure to their specific antigen, conventional T cells are activated, leading to secretion of growth cytokines (predominantly interleukine 2, denoted IL 2), and expression of the interleukine 2 receptor which triggers cytokine driven proliferation cite{deboer87,thornton98,BOP2006}. However, the immune system can cause damage by targeting erroneously self antigens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... % The asymmetry introduced in cite{PBFO2010ECMTB}, and studied in this paper, is modeled by considering that the secreting T cells have a lower death rate than the non secreting T cells and that the active Tregs also have a lower death rate than the inactive Tregs, thus mimicking the effect of the memory T cells. Memory T cells last longer than the other T cells and react more promptly to their specific antigen cite{Rogers2000}. % With this asymmetry, an increase in the antigenic stimulation of T cells results in an increase in the population size of T cells caused both by the increase in cytokine secretion and by the decrease in the average death rate of T cells, thereby improving the efficiency of the immune responses cite{PBFO2010ECMTB, BFOP2011Trans, BFOP2011Bystander}. It s the only place that I constantly feel at one with the earth and my surroundings. From an early age I always had an idea on what I wanted to pursue as my career. I would read books about the oceanic world below and The Great Barrier Reef in Australia. It wasn t until I encountered a wild dolphin at Clearwater beach, Florida that I decided to be a marine biologist. The dolphin was so friendly and welcoming, swimming by me and my brother and allowing us to stroke his slimy skin. That experience will stick with me forever and is a huge part of why I want to pursue a career in marine biology. When I chose to be a marine biologist, my parents were very supportive. They would take us to the beach as much as possible for vacations, but also for me to be in that environment often. There are numerous goals that I would hope to accomplish in my field like being promoted to the highest position possible and being paid the maximum salary. Those goals will motivate me to work to my fullest potential and always work my hardest. My ultimate goal is of course to help the world by finding better ways to help out the ocean biome and to make the animals that live there become safer. Making sure the animals are being treated good and the environment will help the surface world in multiple ways. • 45. Great Smog Of London And The Scientific Implications In... The Great Smog of London and the Scientific Implications in Today s World Turn of the century London, the emergence of the middle class has forced the cultural bias to shift in favor of more homes, more people, and a lot of energy consumption. Science s solution to the energy crisis is a seemingly perfect one: distribute and utilize a more available fuel. Coal burned slower than wood and therefore kept people and homes warm more resourcefully. For a while it seemed like a miracle solution. The industrialization of the previous age had been using coal as well, and when the air became polluted with the factory and energy refuse, the smog was swept away in a matter of hours (Kilen, C.) That went on until early winter of 1952. That fall had been an unusually cold one, and the coal had been burning day and night. The factories had been chugging on, and the black smoke kept rolling. The process by which factories burn coal is as follows: the coal is blown into the furnace where it burns while still airborne. The heat is used to warm water, which then produces steam, which spines a turbine. The factories that burn coal now use methods to slightly lessen the pollution, such as wet limestone to absorb the sulfur (How Coal Works, Union of Concerned Scientists, p.4). This particular winter, though, the pollutants would not be swept away as they had been in the past. This is due to the fact that on this particularly cold December, an inversion occurred over the city of London. An ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To do so Eliza has to learn how to speak proper and get rid of her nasty old ways. However, after she is transformed she knows not what is to become of her, but she realizes she does not have to put up with Higgins anymore. Also, Higgins and Eliza have moments where they begin to sing about the short lines Higgins has Eliza reading in order to improve her pronunciation (Levin, 1964). On the other hand, the characters in Pygmalion and My Fair Lady perform both similar and different actions compared to one or the other. Additionally, however both the play and the film mostly shared similar actions rather than being unalike. For example, Eliza says in the final act of the play that Pickering treats a flower girl as if she was a duchess (Shaw, 1916, PYGMALION AND MY FAIR LADY COMPARISON 4 p.g. 83). Therefore, throughout both Pickering was always very respectful to Eliza and treated her how any woman would want to be treated. Tuckman s theory focuses on the way in which a team tackles a task from the initial formation of the team through to the completion of the project. Tuckman s theory is particularly relevant to team building challenges as the phases are relevant to the completion of any task undertaken by a team but also the development of a team in the grander scheme. The Model and stages are described below in the order that Tuckman identified: Forming The team is assembled and the task is allocated.
