Congenital Erythropoietic Porphyria
In the world of medical science, there are gray areas that blur subtly into the world of fiction. When
medical anomalies came up throughout history, the world had come to its own conclusions about what
was wrong before medical science could determine the true causes. This, in turn, has led to some
interesting connections between fictional ideas and medical cases that are very real. One of these such
disorders is called porphyria, and it heavily influenced the way vampires were perceived in both
literature and early movies. Porphyria, specifically Congenital Erythropoietic Porphyria, is a rare
hereditary blood disorder. The likelihood that this disorder will be present is less than one in a million,
yet more common in relatively isolated populations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They represent the human desire for longevity and immortality, and even in fiction they remain a
curiosity to medical science everywhere (Hallab 168). Although the sufferers of congenital
erythropoietic porphyria are certainly not immortal, they have had a drastic impact on the idea and
manifestation of vampires themselves. The sensitivity and erratic behavior around sunlight, the pale
skin tone due to anemia, and the occasional desire for blood are all present side effects of both
sufferers of porphyria and classic vampires. Both in literature and in early films starring vampires, the
audience is captured by the exacerbated ailments that affect the vampire, such as turning to dust upon
entering sunlight, and flesh literally searing at the touch of garlic. These dramatizations taken on by
Dracula were not just borrowed from porphyria, however. Sightings of actual vampires were seen
throughout the 1700 s in places like Transylvania, where the concentration of those suffering from
porphyria was already higher than anywhere else (Hallab 169). Upon the seizing and murder of these
apparent vampires, doctors swore that they were dealing with a vampire. Further, the sufferers of
porphyria who began to experience symptoms could have easily mistaken a blister or lesion for a
vampire bite. The vampires in literature and movies, therefore, had not only been given the symptoms
of porphyria, but they were truly a dramatic portrayal of someone suffering from porphyria,
specifically congenital erythropoietic

Italian Immigration To America Essay
One of the primary reasons that led to the very different, and very much worse reception of Catholic
Italian immigrants in the United States when compared to other Catholic European immigrants, was
the attitude Italians held in regards to the country they lived in, the United States. Italian immigrants
felt alienated in their new country. They believed that conforming to American values too quickly was
a direct threat to their own beliefs (Specifically the domus). This was especially true in the Italian
Harlem. However, as Orsi states, the alienation was not a purely internal matter; it was also caused by
American xenophobia (Orsi 160). She goes on to say that this discriminating view held by Americans
led to Italians being stereotyped as the worker , meaning a threat to take the jobs of Americans born in
the United States. This led to almost everything of Italian significance being omitted in schools which
led to students getting a sense of Italian inferiority. Teachers and students went as ... Show more

Family was of great importance to Italians and that did not change once they arrived in the United
States. The term they used to describe this family centered way of life was Domus, or culture of the
home. It was for this reason that the home was very important to the Italians. To highlight the
importance of the domus that Italians brought to the United States, Covello made four principles of the
domus, the points are; 10. One should stand by blood relatives in any situation whether they be right
or wrong. 15. Married couples should never sever their relations with their parents. 17. Children
should respect the friends and relatives to their parents and in their behavior conform to the opinions
of these friends and relatives. 21. Husband and wife should represent the union of two blood groups
and not the union of two people who mutually arouse each other s emotions. (Orsi

Physical Chemical Lab Report
Introduction
What is matter? Matter is the substance of which any physical object is composed of. Matter takes up
space and has mass. Matter can actually undergo lots of changes either chemically or physically.
During chemical changes, matter s chemical composition changes. Bonds between atoms are broken
and created to form new molecules! For an example, a rusting iron nail. When a iron nail is exposed to
oxygen it transforms into rust, this ability to react is the chemical property/change. During physical
changes, matter s composition does not change. Something in the matter might seem or look different,
but the atoms are still link up the same. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Procedure The procedure for this lab includes many simple steps and a few different things we are
testing. Our first Procedure was to combine water and salt to see what kind of reaction it would make.
First we fill the graduated cylinder with 100 ml of water. We then measured 1.0 grams of table salt on
a balance to get an accurate amount. After, we took the measured amount of salt and poured it into the
water filled beaker. Lastly, we watched and recorded the reaction.
For our second procedure our first step was to gather materials of a 2 cm long magnesium strip, a
bunsen burner, and crucible tongs. After we gathered materials we turned the gas to the bunsen burner
on, carefully lit the burner with our striker, and adjusted the flame. We then used the crucible tongs to
pick up the magnesium strip and place it in the flame, keeping it a safe distance away. Lastly, we
recorded and watched our reaction.
The third procedure we did, our first step was to gather materials of a spot plate, and 2 pipettes one
filled with sodium hydroxide and one filled with copper nitrate. We then

Attention Deficit-Hyperactive Disorder
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), also known as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD),
is a neurodevelopment,1 psychiatric disorder, which is characterized as impairments of the growth and
development of the Central Nervous System particularly the brain.2 An individual diagnosed with
ADD exhibits issues with attention, hyperactivity, impulsive behavior, or a combination of all three. 3
Such symptoms are likely observed between ages 6 12 and must persist for over six months prior to
imposed diagnosis.4 According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, section
4 (DMV IV), currently 12% of the American pediatric and young adult populations suffer from one
form of ADD.5 Despite ADD prevalence, growing incidence, and being the most studied and
diagnosed psychiatric disorder in the pediatric population several unknowns of the complex condition
remain. In North America, potential ADHD cases are confirmed by the Diagnostic and Statistical
Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth edition, endorsed by the American Psychiatric Association as a
primary resource. The Manual defines and categorizes ADHD into three subtypes: Attention Deficit
Hyperactivity Disorder, predominantly inattentive (ADHD PI),4 and more commonly referred to as
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). This form of ADHD is observed in individuals who are easily
distracted, continuously daydreaming, severely disorganized, poor concentration, and considerable
difficulty finishing tasks.

Queen Elizabeth 1
Elizabeth I of England was the queen for forty five years. She was often referred to as Good Queen
Bess, Gloriana, or the Virgin Queen. During her reign, Elizabeth was imprisoned, threatened by
conspiracy, dealt with impending warfare, and had to answer to the question of marriage so she and
her country would survive. She had endured so much and brought so much culture during her reign
that it s not surprising that her long reign is called the Elizabethan Era, or the Golden Age of England.
Elizabeth Tudor, better known as Queen Elizabeth I of England and Ireland, was the last ruler the
Tudor dynasty and is considered one of the greatest rulers of England. She was the only child of Anne
Boleyn and Henry VIII, and was born on September 7, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This gave Catholic countries, such as France and Spain, another reason to attack England and also
brought on threats to the Queen, along with assassinations and attempts to overthrow her so that her
cousin, Mary, Queen of Scots, could be queen. As many Catholics tried to take the throne away from
Elizabeth I, she decided to imprison Mary, Queen of Scots for twenty years before beheading her.
Since Elizabeth I was excommunicated, she was forced to impose harsher laws on Catholics and
helped Protestants in Spanish Holland rebel. This made the Spanish Armada attempt to invade
England in 1588, but the English navy was able to defeat them. Many say that weather conditions had
to do with the victory, along with the fact that Sir Francis Drake was a sea dog that was in the English
navy at the time. Elizabeth I would also use her single status to deal with these attacks and to get out
of major warfare with Spain or France. She would often threaten to marry foes of other s and she
would court many men, including Eric XIV of Sweden, Archduke Charles of Austria, Henry, Duke of
Anjou, and Francis, Duke of Anjou and Alençon. She was able to navigate through many political and
foreign affairs through these courtships, which kept England out of trouble. Later, Elizabeth I was
considered to be married to her country, which made her extremely popular with her

Apollo And Dafne Essay
Apollo and Dafne is a life sized hand carved marble sculpture created by Gian Lorenzo Bernini
between 1622 and 1625. It represents Apollo (God of Light and Poetry) and a river nymph named
Daphne. It is kept at the Galleria Borghese, Rome (Italy).
This sculpture is inspired by a tale from book I of Ovid s Metamorphosis. Daphne was Apollo s first
love. It was no accident, but by the evil intentions of Cupid. Apollo saw cupid with a bow and arrows
and made fun of him feeling confident after defeating a python. Cupid is upset with getting teased.
Cupid fires two different arrows. One arrow is tipped with gold and makes people fall in love. The
other lead arrow does the opposite. Apollo is struck with the golden arrow of love and Daphne gets
shot with the lead tipped arrow. Apollo immediately falls in love with Daphne, but she finds the idea
of loving anybody unpleasant. Daphne tells her father; Peneus she wants to remain a virgin. He tells
her that she owes him grandchildren. Peneus agreed to his daughter s request, saying she will not have
to get married. Apollo is head over heels in love with Daphne and pursues her in the woods. He is
attempting to convince her of how wonderful he is but Daphne wants nothing to do with Apollo.
Eventually, Apollo catches up with the beautiful nymph in the woods. Daphne calls out to her father to
help. Peneus turns her into a tree. Daphne is encased in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Cat And Mouse Gangs
THE CAT AND MOUSE GAME By: John Charles Roth So there was this cat in Chicago back in
1872 and this mouse and the mouse was a jerk and they kept battling. So naturally, the cat found a
wife and the mouse found a husband and more animals came and they formed the cat and mouse
gangs. And the gangs were both democracies. The cat and mouse who formed the gangs got elected.
They weren t really gangs they were more of battling societies so they both replaced the gang with
society. So they kept fighting. The everlasting war was a seesaw battle. The cats were winning. The
mice were winning. So we re gonna focus on a very important year for both societies. 1987. NO

Ancient Greek Impact On Modern Society
The work f some ancient Greek writers, scientists, and philosophers until this day still continues to
inspire us, that is from the poetic writer Homer, to the instructor of Alexander the Great Aristotle.
Many of their literature writing were passed to one another orally and not recorded. Some of these
ancient Greek writers, scientists, and philosophers are Democritus, Socrates, Aristotle, Plato,
Aristophanes, Aeschylus, Sophocles, homer, Hippocrates, and Thales. These writers have had a huge
impact on modern society.
First, is Democritus, who broke down further and created the atomic theory. Democritus believed that
atoms cannot be destroyed, differ in size, shape, or temperature, and they are always moving, and in
fact invisible, and that

Hebrew belief declares that God says, Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness... (New

each belief states that a god creates man. Likewise, there are variations between the two beliefs about

experience has shaped my life and calling tremendously. In fact I have stated many times that I wished
I would have kept a daily journal of all the things the Lord has done in my life since I became a
believer. But, as you will see as you read this paper, after becoming a Christian, and having now been
saved for almost 13 years, I can look back and see the sovereign hand of the Almighty working
throughout my life. I did not come to know Christ until December of 2003 at the age of 25 at First

My thinking was this: we could go to boot camp and if we did not like the Corps then, in the reserves,
we would only have to serve one weekend a month. I wanted to hang on to those old things and people
in my life. But GOD had a better plan for me. When I introduced my idea to Scott, he said, no , if we
are going to do it, let s do it , and my exact response was, then let s do it . And so we did. We signed
the dotted line making a commitment for 4 years of active duty service in the infantry of the USMC.
We left our home town in November of 1997. Little did I know, even in my lost state, the Sovereign
hand of GOD was working in my life. The Lord knew that I not only needed to get out of my home
town, and away from my old friends, He knew I also needed to get away from Scott, and in just a
matter of days I would be separated from him as well. Within a week or so Scott would suffer a leg
injury and eventually be separated from the Marine Corps. While at boot camp in Paris Island South
Carolina I once again started to desire GOD in my life. I began to read my Bible and pray. At that time
I also began to think about what I would want in a wife. As I did, I realized that a young lady that I
had been dating prior to joining the Marine Corps was the woman I wanted to call my wife. When

Galileo And Pope John Paul 2 Summary
Through the use of the two quotes by Galileo and Pope John Paul II, Postman proposes that the use of
religion and science can provide the bases for morality and human improvement should one be free
from dogmatic judgement towards religion or science. Postman further emphasizes this common
theme present in the quotes by juxtaposing the two figures, Galileo being an important contributor to
the fields of science and Pope John Paul II holding one of the highest positions in the Catholic Church,
the two figures of which are almost antithetical to each other given their roles. Following the essay s
theme of religion and the new age of information being similar through the use of blind faith, this
juxtaposition further accentuates the religion/science

Synthesis and Reactivity of tert butyl Chloride via an Sn1 Reaction
Copeland 1
Introduction/Background
Substitution reactions are important chemical processes that contribute to the production of new
compounds. Simplistically, these reactions take place through a series of steps in which one functional
group is replaced by another (March). There are two types of nucleophilic substitution reactions, first
order and second order, but this experiment only involves the Sn1 first order reactions. Sn1 reactions
are considered unimolecular meaning that only one molecule is involved in the rate determining step,
the slowest step of the reaction which determines the overall speed of the reaction. In contrast, Sn2
reactions are considered bimolecular, and complete the substitution reaction in one step. The main
components of these reactions are the nucleophile and the leaving group; a nucleophile replaces the
leaving group by donating its electrons to form a new bond to the carbon (Weldegirma). For this
experiment, the nucleophiles and leaving groups of the Sn1 reactions are alkyl halides and alcohols
respectively. When a hydrogen atom is replaced by halogen in an alkane, the resulting compound is
referred to as a alkyl halide. There are certain factors that affect both Sn1 and Sn2 reactions which
include the structure of the substrate, and the concentration and reactivity of the nucleophile (Sn2
only). If a

Power Rangers Research Papers
Dean Israelite s Power Rangers movie is a tediously paced heavy handed attempt at rebooting a
franchise that was better left alone.
Summary
The film starts off centering around Billy (RJ Cyler), who is longing to finish a project his late father
started concerning an energy source at the base of a mountain in Angel Grove (his hometown). He
makes friends with Jason (Darce Montgomery), who he meets in Saturday detention and they agree to
meet up later that night. The deal was Jason would drive him to the site of the mountain in exchange
for Jason getting some help with his pesky house arrest bracelet he now has to wear. They eventually
make it to the location only to learn that some of the same teens who have detention on Saturday night
apparently like hanging out at a random mountain on Friday evening. We have Kimberly (Naomi
Scott) a cheerleader who has been ostracized, Trini (Becky G) a confused young girl who thinks she is
gay, and Zack (Ludi Lin) the bad boy, all seem to be up some shenanigans. Things quickly take a turn
when they hear an explosion and realize that it was Billy who causes it (apparently he brought some
dynamite with him). Amongst the rubble, the team discovers some power coins, and some new found
super powers. Little do they know that they set in motion events that will lead to them coming face to
face with the projection of an alien named Zordon (Bryan Cranston), a robot named Alpha 5 (Bill
Hader), and a gold driven villain named Rita ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

something like this could happen. From blaming everything from abolitionist to Quakers, Southerners

In the aftermath of the rebellion, Virginia legislatures used the colonization bill against free blacks to

Censorship Of Women In The Media Research Paper
Large breasts have been the ideal standard of female beauty in American society, especially in media
culture. Although the biological role of female breasts is to provide milk while nursing a newborn,
their sexual role of attracting mates or just exuding sexual appeal in general is more pronounced, and
usually the bigger they are, the more attractive a female looks. Some examples of society glorifying
the voluptuous look include: porn; advertisements; the Victoria s Secret Bombshell Bra (designed to
make your boobs look two sizes larger); production of tighter, body hugging clothing and tops with
plunging necklines (only looks good if you have something to show); movies/TV shows with the trite

Issues with the inequality between men walking around shirtless and women walking around shirtless,
censorship of female breasts, and the laws of several states banning breast feeding in public spurs the
FreeTheNipple campaign, a movement with a goal to empower women across the world and stop
unfair censorship of the female anatomy. In my opinion, I can see the feminist cause behind this
campaign and how ridiculous it is that breasts have become taboo in society, however I don t think
walking around shirtless to promote the normalcy of breasts will do much of anything because no
matter what breasts will forever be considered sexual and shameful. If a group of shirtless women
walked up my block, I wouldn t be bothered because boobs are boobs, but I know a lot of people who
feel uncomfortable and look away, or even worse start ridiculing the women, because many are
brought up like that; at a young age, we are conditioned to think female breasts should be concealed. I
think the movement is a great cause, but in terms of successfully carrying out it s goals, it s

My Life Goals
After careful contemplation and the usual changing of my thought process I concluded that thinking
and not writing out my goals or vision plan was not beneficial to me. I asked myself, why can t I have
it all instead of having to choose? The question order is what do I want from my career and then what
do I want from my life or for my life? I thought and decided that society has planted a seed in our
heads saying that to accomplish your goals there is a specific order in which things must be performed
and for many this may accurate and lead them to success. My situation is not everyone else s state of
affairs it is truly my own. I am thirty five years of age on my third marriage and have four children.
My life was hard, some would say horrific but my experiences have brought me much diversity in the
knowledge of the true world and its functions. Today I open my box that society has handed me
tearing through the walls of criticism and obstacles developing my own vision of my life goals starting
from the future and planning backwards to achieve my outcomes. My priority is my family so I will
start with those questions first, what do I want from life? I want nothing from life, because I know that
nothing is handed to you and you must work hard for what you want. Rephrasing the question what do
I want out of life? I want to live a simple life of elderly age with my husband alongside a lake in a
simple but unique crafty shelter. That being known, I can determine how hard do I

Analysis Of The Philosophical Views Of The Other Presented...
Assignment: Final Paper the Other
Nancy Barahona
National University
Philosophy 337
August 1, 2015
Professor Martin Gomez
In looking at the philosophical views of the Other presented by Emmanuel Levinas we will consider
whether we act strictly for the good of others without investing any self interest in what we do or do
we do what we desire most at the end of the day; however, we will find many of our daily interactions
including working, caring for another and just basic interactions are all done in self interest not in the
interest of the Other. According to Rosenstand (2013) Levinas explains the Other as a term seen in
philosophy about a person who is different from oneself; it is when one is facing something or
someone that one is fundamentally unfamiliar with. (Rosenstand, 2013, p. 82) He goes onto explain
that this stranger can be a person of a different sex or race or even someone who has different
experiences than oneself. Levinas sees the bottom line of all human existence as the encounter with
the Other. (Rosenstand, 2013, p. 513) When people meet people they will more often than not meet
someone who is different from them. They will be a different color. A different sex. A different social
class. It will be someone who has grown up in a different environment than them. And instinct will set
in and one will try to change the Other; they will perceive that they are helping the Other but really
they are helping themselves. One person will

Examples Of Captain American Propaganda
One villain after another keeps popping up. The world seems to be in a constant state of chaos. The
people are panicking and someone needs to step up to lead or it will all fall. The perfect person for that
it seems is the hero Captain America. The Captain America propaganda piece is a very effective piece
of propaganda as it uses many different propaganda techniques as well as rhetorical techniques to
persuade its audience to believe that Captain America can protect them. It uses the strategies of pathos
and logo to appeal to citizens as its audience. It uses propaganda techniques such as flag waving and
band wagon to persuade the people. It also uses other techniques with how it is designed to draw an

The use of bandwagon is through the whole feeling of everyone should follow him. To jump on
Captain America s, or SHIELD s, bandwagon and believe in them. To trust them and follow them.
That is a very important technique because that is what makes it more political than anything. The
influence of SHIELD is very important because they are making this piece and using Captain America
as the propaganda. Which brings us to flag waving. The use of Captain America in and of itself is flag
waving. He has always been a symbol of freedom and protection. When the audience looks at Captain
America they see a leader. Also the use of Captain America with his shield. The shield is a symbol of
protection, showing that he will protect the people. It also uses the symbol of the Avengers in the
corner. That symbol shows that he is part of a group that protects not just America, but the entire

The McGregor Theory Essay
Introduction
The onset of the industrial revolution in the late 19 century created a host of new challenges for the
managers. Some of these challenges included the need to increase the workforce effectiveness.
Therefore, early futurist suggested theories that they believe if applied would result in higher
management efficiency. Such theory were based on the fundamental believe that employee should be
actively supervised and monitored (Jone George 2008). However, Douglas McGregor challenged this
notion. Through his extensive work he established two theories, which defined the assumption held
about employees attitude towards work. These assumption automatically influenced workers
productivity (Kopelman, Prottas, Davis 2008; Tatham, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As oppose to this assumption, McGregor believed that the general intention of most employees is to
be more productive. This assumption commonly referred to as theory Y (human relation) contradicted
theory Y notion that employees inherently hate working (McGregor 1960).
Convectional view or what is referred to as theory X, underpinned the underlying assumptions that
surrounded the scientific era which the management practices at the time was evolving from. Here,
effective management included harnessing the power of the human labour to achieve organization
effectiveness. The manager could achieve this through effectively; organizing all element of
production. Such element included natural resources, machinery and equipment, money, people,
among others. Very important to note, is that the process of managing people involved keenly
directing and controlling their efforts and actions to suit the organizations needs (Jone George 2008).
According to this theory, failure to constantly intervene the function of the workers would result in
undesirable outcome. This is because here the workers are viewed as indolent, irresponsible, un
ambitious and self centred. This is nature might make them passive and at times resistance to any
initiative directed towards achieving organizational goals (McGregor 1960). Therefore manager could
adopt the use of rewards and punishment to model the appropriate

Essay On Maned Wolf
Introduction: Chrysocyon brachyurus, more commonly known as the Maned Wolf, is one of the more
peculiar canids residing in South America. While this animal may be classified as a wolf, it has several
differences in behavior and habitat than its North American and European counterparts Amusingly
dubbed the fox on stilts the maned wolf is the largest canid of South America with a more slender
body plan giving the animal a slender almost gangly appearance. The species is known to dwell in
savannah type habitats mostly in isolation until their breeding season sets in. The animals are
omnivorous sticking to small mammals and vegetation they pose little to know throat to humans,
however these animals are still subject to reduced mortatlity rates, putting them in a near threatened
category. Unfortunately, there is only a limited amount of research available regarding the maned

Movie Made America Analysis
Hugo and The Artist are two films that share one pronounced quality. The ability of the two films to be
so relatable simply to attract a greater audience has proved itself to be a great way in obtaining a
greater number of interested spectators. Robert Sklar notes an enlightening topic within his book,
Movie Made America: A Cultural History of American Movies, as he states, In motion picture
comedy, a medium close to popular moods and tastes, the pendulum in the early years of Depression
and sound swung back to the rough and tumble chaos of the Keystone style, this tie in a highly verbal
form with a more pointed anti bourgeois animus (120). Note, he is referencing the transition from
silent films to talkies in this particular instance, but his point is still valid in other cases. For ... Show

Much like today, orphaned children without any immediate relatives to turn to seem to find
themselves trouble, whether it be intentionally or unintentionally. Hugo s issues were the unintentional
ends of that spectrum, as proven through the daunting thought of being exiled to a children s home.
His responsibility prevailed as he took over his uncle s job when he went off on a drinking binge.
Hugo s real persistence was prevalent in the scene where he followed Isabelle home in effort to get his
notebook back. His unbreakable bond with his father continued on after his death and allowed Hugo
an adventure of a lifetime and the opportunity to, despite Hugo s various internal conflicts, ultimately
find a home. This sheer fact, in my opinion, inspired the audience, giving them hope and promise for a
better life. This is why I mention the excerpt from Sklar, noting people s tastes and preferences as
being essential in how they respond to a film s message. If filmmakers do not take into account the
audience they are trying to please, the film has little to no

Lab Report Yeast Fermentation
ABSTRACT The experiment performed was designed and processed to determine if yeast cells are
able to undergo fermentation with other food molecules when enclosed in a fermentation tube with no
oxygen. The yeast and food molecules were mixed together evenly and allowed to incubate for
approximately one hour. The tests were then carried out to determine if respiration (anaerobic and
aerobic) took place within the fermentation tubes. If there was any detection of carbon dioxide then
that is an indicator of a respiration taking place. If there was any detection of ethanol then
fermentation took place. If there was a presence of both carbon dioxide and ethanol, then respiration
and fermentation took place. The process of fermentation uses more glucose and is much more
inefficient compared to cellular respiration. During this experiment the positive control, glucose,
guaranteed fermentation. While the negative control, water, inhibited the process of fermentation.
Independent variables consisted of other forms of food molecules. The results in this lab were
recorded to indicate whether or not fermentation will occur on the selected food molecules. ... Show

Declaration Of The Rights Of Man And Citizen Essay
Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen is a
direct response to the ignorance of the two other estates and the King. At the beginning of the French
Revolution, the people taking part had a good idea of what they want in the new form of government
they are demanding. They wanted more rights, less restriction, and an equal voice in everything from
day to day operations, all the way up to the Estates General. So, when they piled up all of their ideas
into one document, they were able to muster a declaration much like the one created by the Americans
earlier in 1776. Prior to the revolution the third estate, which included the bourgeoisie and all the

this christianity held all the power, it was the first estate, now all regions are aloud. So, if they were to

For example, Herricks To The Virgins, To Make Much Of Time addresses the audience with a serious,
yet delightful wake up alarm that makes his attitude seem wise as if he s already witnessed all aspects
of life. He says Gather ye rose buds while ye may, Old time is still a flying which indicates that he s
being encouraging about life s gifts and the importance of gathering them. This differs from Robert
Frosts The road not taken in a way where Frost s tone is rather considerative while also being proud. I
can imagine him feeling delighted and relaxed while writing Oh, I kept the first of another day! , and I
took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference . He seems considerative because he
is also feeling uncertain about choosing the right path when he says I doubted if I should ever come

tone from him. Him saying For his shrunk shank, and his big manly voice, turning again toward
childish treble, proves that he is having a pessimistic tone. A tone very much different from the other

The Relationship Between Faith And Reason In Pope John...
Pope John Paul II found it important enough to talk about the relationship between faith and reason in
his encyclical Fides et Ratio. An encyclical is a letter that is sent to all of the bishops of the Roman
Catholic Church and addresses a problem, or important topic that the pope believes needs to be
discussed. In Fides et Ratio, Pope John Paul II really emphasizes the importance of the relationship
between faith and reason and how it has to do with the trust and faith put in God. This encyclical
written in 1998 was meant for all of the members of the Catholic Church to understand and begin
thinking about the big questions that define their faith, as well as to once again be able to reason with
their faith. If there was never a questioning of faith, there would be no reason for the followers of the
Catholic Church to continue to follow a man that we accept as our Lord. Faith and reason go hand in
hand just like identity and relevance. Without one, you cannot have the other and still achieve full
meaning. It is possible to have only faith and just live a life based on faith alone. It is also possible to
only reason through everything. However, when dealing with religion, Pope John Paul II makes it a
point to show the followers if Christ that they need to have an equal balance of both faith and reason
in order to attempt to comprehend who Jesus Christ the Son of God was, who in fact God is, and have
the knowledge to grow and understand the Roman Catholic beliefs. According to

Spirit Of Offense
Do you walk in the spirit of offense?
The truth is, all of us at one time or another, have either been offended or offended someone.
And the good news is, we all have the opportunity to SHIELD UP!
How Do I know if I have the spirit of offense?
Before we get into what it means to Shield Up, let s first identify if we have the spirit of offense.
Even though we are told in James 1:19 to be slow to take offense, we have seen relationships
destroyed and people leave their church family over the spirit of offense. (Block Quote)
Understand [this], my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear [a ready listener], slow to
speak, slow to take offense and to get angry. ~ James 1:19 (AMPC)
So how can we tell if we walk in the spirit of offense? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Submission is meant for every believer. As God expects us to submit to Him, to each other, to our
spouses, employers, and our government!
Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient, always
ready to do what is good. ~ Titus 3:1(NLT)
The slippery slope here is that without submission, we can almost guarantee that we will walk in the
spirit of offense.
That s because to be discipled is to be mentored. To be mentored is to be held accountable.
However, you cannot be discipled without being teachable. You cannot be mentored without yielding
to submission. And you cannot receive accountability without humility.
In other words, when you walk in humility you will avoid walking in the spirit of offense!

which is by far the biggest argument is that marijuana has a significant medical use. The second is that
marijuana does not cause harm to those that smoke it. Both of these arguments can be easily

individuals used marijuana prior to their illness or are using marijuana in combination with other

Caracalla. Both the Roman Pool and the baths could be used by men and women. The main function
of the pool and the baths was for recreation and socializing. Hearst s pool was not used for bathing.
The Roman Pool is decorated from ceiling to floor with 1 square mosaic tiles. These glass tiles, called
smalti, are either colored (mainly blue or orange) or are clear with fused gold inside. The intense
colors and shimmering gold of the tiles combine to create a breathtaking effect. The designs created
by the tiles were developed by muralist Camille Solon. The inspiration for some of these designs came
from the 5 C. Mausoleum of Galla Placidia (Kastner, p. I 261.)
Galla Placidia was the daughter of Roman emperor Theodosius. She built a cruciform oratory for her
own mausoleum where she was to lie between her brother Honorius and her son Valentinian. This
monument to her is located in Ravenna, Italy (Hutton, p. 203.)
Hearst was affected by the beauty of the mosaics in the mausoleum and incorporated similar styles

Sistine Chapel Essay By Michelangelo
The Sistine Chapel is one of the most beautiful artworks known to man, but who knew that so many
secrets could be hidden in the artwork that covers the ceilings and walls of the sacred church. The
Sistine Chapel was falling apart and after getting it fixed church needed someone to decorate the
inside with the most intelligent strokes of a paint brush. After searching Pope Julius ll chose the
famous artist Michelangelo to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo may or may not
have wanted to paint the Sistine Chapel for the Pope. Symbols are everywhere in art; Michelangelo
was able to put large and even some insulting symbols on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
Michelangelo Di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni was the full name of the famous artist we all call by
just his first name Michelangelo. Michelangelo was born on March 6th, 1475 in Caprese, Italy and
lived with his parents and four siblings. Michelangelo s mother became sick when he was an infant
and he was raised by a wet nurse. In Michelangelo s teen years he would leave school early and go to
the church to watch the painted while they worked; his family started to see him as a disgrace as they
didn t see art as a profession he should join(Michelangelo). As he became older he worked more and
more with stone over any other type of art and made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel using a fresco technique(Tate). Fresco painting is done by
brushing water based paint directly onto freshly laid plaster so that the paint becomes one with the
plaster. With the paint and plaster becoming one the imaged painted with last longer and is easier to
keep intact unless treated right from the start. Two coats of plaster are applied to the surface and
allowed to dry, then you put a fresh coat of plaster before you start to paint with a water based

Dear Simon,. As Your Legal Advisor, I Will Be Advising
Dear Simon, As your legal advisor, I will be advising you on the basics in which a contract under
English law is made. A contract is a voluntary agreement reached between parties giving rise to
obligations that are enforceable by law. It can be written or verbal. For this to occur, there must be an
agreement between the two parties, these are the offeror which is you, Simon, and the offerees, whom
are Beyoncé and Jay Z. It would be you the offeror who makes the offer to Beyoncé and Jay Z. As the
offerees, they are the ones who would decide if they accept or decline the offer simply due to them
being the offerees. Contracts are made up of four components and these are: 1 Offer 2 Acceptance 3
Consideration 4 Intention An agreement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, it s important that the offer which you make contains all the items that will serve as a blueprint for
the final sale but also any agreement made without consideration is considered as void. It must be
noted that there are two types of statement which may be confused with a legally binding offer these
are invitations to treat or statements in negotiation. An invitation to treat, by which a person does not
make an offer but invites another party to do so. Whether a statement is an offer or an invitation to
treat depends primarily on the intention with which it is made. An invitation to treat is not made with
the intention that it is to be binding as soon as the person to whom it is addressed communicates his
assent to its terms. (explain relevancy how relevant is it to Simon ). Secondly, acceptance which is a
final and unqualified expression of consent to the terms of the offer and it is made up of three parts. If
it is to form an agreement, an offer must be accepted in accordance with its precise terms. It must
exactly match the offer and all terms must be accepted. It must be firm this means that acceptance
must be unconditional although counter offers can be made to try to negotiate price. It also must be
communicated to the offeror as this part of the acceptance means that the communication can only be
held by an authorized person to be effective, this can be seen in the case of POWELL V LEE (1908)

  • 2. Congenital Erythropoietic Porphyria In the world of medical science, there are gray areas that blur subtly into the world of fiction. When medical anomalies came up throughout history, the world had come to its own conclusions about what was wrong before medical science could determine the true causes. This, in turn, has led to some interesting connections between fictional ideas and medical cases that are very real. One of these such disorders is called porphyria, and it heavily influenced the way vampires were perceived in both literature and early movies. Porphyria, specifically Congenital Erythropoietic Porphyria, is a rare hereditary blood disorder. The likelihood that this disorder will be present is less than one in a million, yet more common in relatively isolated populations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They represent the human desire for longevity and immortality, and even in fiction they remain a curiosity to medical science everywhere (Hallab 168). Although the sufferers of congenital erythropoietic porphyria are certainly not immortal, they have had a drastic impact on the idea and manifestation of vampires themselves. The sensitivity and erratic behavior around sunlight, the pale skin tone due to anemia, and the occasional desire for blood are all present side effects of both sufferers of porphyria and classic vampires. Both in literature and in early films starring vampires, the audience is captured by the exacerbated ailments that affect the vampire, such as turning to dust upon entering sunlight, and flesh literally searing at the touch of garlic. These dramatizations taken on by Dracula were not just borrowed from porphyria, however. Sightings of actual vampires were seen throughout the 1700 s in places like Transylvania, where the concentration of those suffering from porphyria was already higher than anywhere else (Hallab 169). Upon the seizing and murder of these apparent vampires, doctors swore that they were dealing with a vampire. Further, the sufferers of porphyria who began to experience symptoms could have easily mistaken a blister or lesion for a vampire bite. The vampires in literature and movies, therefore, had not only been given the symptoms of porphyria, but they were truly a dramatic portrayal of someone suffering from porphyria, specifically congenital erythropoietic ... • 3. Italian Immigration To America Essay One of the primary reasons that led to the very different, and very much worse reception of Catholic Italian immigrants in the United States when compared to other Catholic European immigrants, was the attitude Italians held in regards to the country they lived in, the United States. Italian immigrants felt alienated in their new country. They believed that conforming to American values too quickly was a direct threat to their own beliefs (Specifically the domus). This was especially true in the Italian Harlem. However, as Orsi states, the alienation was not a purely internal matter; it was also caused by American xenophobia (Orsi 160). She goes on to say that this discriminating view held by Americans led to Italians being stereotyped as the worker , meaning a threat to take the jobs of Americans born in the United States. This led to almost everything of Italian significance being omitted in schools which led to students getting a sense of Italian inferiority. Teachers and students went as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Family was of great importance to Italians and that did not change once they arrived in the United States. The term they used to describe this family centered way of life was Domus, or culture of the home. It was for this reason that the home was very important to the Italians. To highlight the importance of the domus that Italians brought to the United States, Covello made four principles of the domus, the points are; 10. One should stand by blood relatives in any situation whether they be right or wrong. 15. Married couples should never sever their relations with their parents. 17. Children should respect the friends and relatives to their parents and in their behavior conform to the opinions of these friends and relatives. 21. Matter is the substance of which any physical object is composed of. Matter takes up space and has mass. Matter can actually undergo lots of changes either chemically or physically. During chemical changes, matter s chemical composition changes. Bonds between atoms are broken and created to form new molecules! For an example, a rusting iron nail. When a iron nail is exposed to oxygen it transforms into rust, this ability to react is the chemical property/change. During physical changes, matter s composition does not change. Apollo saw cupid with a bow and arrows and made fun of him feeling confident after defeating a python. Cupid is upset with getting teased. Cupid fires two different arrows. • 14. Reactivity Of Tert-Butyl Chloride Lab Report Courtney Copeland Alexis Madrazo TA: Katrinah Tirado October 10, 2017 Synthesis and Reactivity of tert butyl Chloride via an Sn1 Reaction Copeland 1 Introduction/Background Substitution reactions are important chemical processes that contribute to the production of new compounds. Simplistically, these reactions take place through a series of steps in which one functional group is replaced by another (March). There are two types of nucleophilic substitution reactions, first order and second order, but this experiment only involves the Sn1 first order reactions. Sn1 reactions are considered unimolecular meaning that only one molecule is involved in the rate determining step, the slowest step of the reaction which determines the overall speed of the reaction. In contrast, Sn2 reactions are considered bimolecular, and complete the substitution reaction in one step. The main components of these reactions are the nucleophile and the leaving group; a nucleophile replaces the leaving group by donating its electrons to form a new bond to the carbon (Weldegirma). For this experiment, the nucleophiles and leaving groups of the Sn1 reactions are alkyl halides and alcohols respectively. When a hydrogen atom is replaced by halogen in an alkane, the resulting compound is referred to as a alkyl halide. There are certain factors that affect both Sn1 and Sn2 reactions which include the structure of the substrate, and the concentration and reactivity of the nucleophile (Sn2 only). If a ... He makes friends with Jason (Darce Montgomery), who he meets in Saturday detention and they agree to meet up later that night. Things quickly take a turn when they hear an explosion and realize that it was Billy who causes it (apparently he brought some dynamite with him). Amongst the rubble, the team discovers some power coins, and some new found super powers. Assignment: Final Paper the Other Nancy Barahona National University Philosophy 337 August 1, 2015 Professor Martin Gomez In looking at the philosophical views of the Other presented by Emmanuel Levinas we will consider whether we act strictly for the good of others without investing any self interest in what we do or do we do what we desire most at the end of the day; however, we will find many of our daily interactions including working, caring for another and just basic interactions are all done in self interest not in the interest of the Other. According to Rosenstand (2013) Levinas explains the Other as a term seen in philosophy about a person who is different from oneself; it is when one is facing something or someone that one is fundamentally unfamiliar with. (Rosenstand, 2013, p. 82) He goes onto explain that this stranger can be a person of a different sex or race or even someone who has different experiences than oneself. Levinas sees the bottom line of all human existence as the encounter with the Other. (Rosenstand, 2013, p. 513) When people meet people they will more often than not meet someone who is different from them. They will be a different color. A different sex. A different social class. It will be someone who has grown up in a different environment than them. Such theory were based on the fundamental believe that employee should be actively supervised and monitored (Jone George 2008). However, Douglas McGregor challenged this notion. While this animal may be classified as a wolf, it has several differences in behavior and habitat than its North American and European counterparts Amusingly dubbed the fox on stilts the maned wolf is the largest canid of South America with a more slender body plan giving the animal a slender almost gangly appearance. The species is known to dwell in savannah type habitats mostly in isolation until their breeding season sets in. The animals are omnivorous sticking to small mammals and vegetation they pose little to know throat to humans, however these animals are still subject to reduced mortatlity rates, putting them in a near threatened category. Unfortunately, there is only a limited amount of research available regarding the maned wolf, leaving a few holes to be filled in their profile. • 27. Movie Made America Analysis Hugo and The Artist are two films that share one pronounced quality. The ability of the two films to be so relatable simply to attract a greater audience has proved itself to be a great way in obtaining a greater number of interested spectators. Robert Sklar notes an enlightening topic within his book, Movie Made America: A Cultural History of American Movies, as he states, In motion picture comedy, a medium close to popular moods and tastes, the pendulum in the early years of Depression and sound swung back to the rough and tumble chaos of the Keystone style, this tie in a highly verbal form with a more pointed anti bourgeois animus (120). Much like today, orphaned children without any immediate relatives to turn to seem to find themselves trouble, whether it be intentionally or unintentionally. Hugo s issues were the unintentional ends of that spectrum, as proven through the daunting thought of being exiled to a children s home. His responsibility prevailed as he took over his uncle s job when he went off on a drinking binge. Hugo s real persistence was prevalent in the scene where he followed Isabelle home in effort to get his notebook back. His unbreakable bond with his father continued on after his death and allowed Hugo an adventure of a lifetime and the opportunity to, despite Hugo s various internal conflicts, ultimately find a home. This sheer fact, in my opinion, inspired the audience, giving them hope and promise for a better life. This is why I mention the excerpt from Sklar, noting people s tastes and preferences as being essential in how they respond to a film s message. If filmmakers do not take into account the audience they are trying to please, the film has little to no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Lab Report Yeast Fermentation ABSTRACT The experiment performed was designed and processed to determine if yeast cells are able to undergo fermentation with other food molecules when enclosed in a fermentation tube with no oxygen. The yeast and food molecules were mixed together evenly and allowed to incubate for approximately one hour. The tests were then carried out to determine if respiration (anaerobic and aerobic) took place within the fermentation tubes. If there was any detection of carbon dioxide then that is an indicator of a respiration taking place. If there was any detection of ethanol then fermentation took place. If there was a presence of both carbon dioxide and ethanol, then respiration and fermentation took place. The process of fermentation uses more glucose and is much more inefficient compared to cellular respiration. During this experiment the positive control, glucose, guaranteed fermentation. While the negative control, water, inhibited the process of fermentation. Independent variables consisted of other forms of food molecules. The results in this lab were recorded to indicate whether or not fermentation will occur on the selected food molecules. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Declaration Of The Rights Of Man And Citizen Essay Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen is a direct response to the ignorance of the two other estates and the King. At the beginning of the French Revolution, the people taking part had a good idea of what they want in the new form of government they are demanding. They wanted more rights, less restriction, and an equal voice in everything from day to day operations, all the way up to the Estates General. So, when they piled up all of their ideas into one document, they were able to muster a declaration much like the one created by the Americans earlier in 1776. • 31. The Relationship Between Faith And Reason In Pope John... Pope John Paul II found it important enough to talk about the relationship between faith and reason in his encyclical Fides et Ratio. An encyclical is a letter that is sent to all of the bishops of the Roman Catholic Church and addresses a problem, or important topic that the pope believes needs to be discussed. In Fides et Ratio, Pope John Paul II really emphasizes the importance of the relationship between faith and reason and how it has to do with the trust and faith put in God. This encyclical written in 1998 was meant for all of the members of the Catholic Church to understand and begin thinking about the big questions that define their faith, as well as to once again be able to reason with their faith. If there was never a questioning of faith, there would be no reason for the followers of the Catholic Church to continue to follow a man that we accept as our Lord. Faith and reason go hand in hand just like identity and relevance. Without one, you cannot have the other and still achieve full meaning. It is possible to have only faith and just live a life based on faith alone. It is also possible to only reason through everything. However, when dealing with religion, Pope John Paul II makes it a point to show the followers if Christ that they need to have an equal balance of both faith and reason in order to attempt to comprehend who Jesus Christ the Son of God was, who in fact God is, and have the knowledge to grow and understand the Roman Catholic beliefs.
